Cale, when he was being placed back into his body after the GoD test, found himself in a weird empty place.
The only thing in it is a pedestal, and on that pedestal is an intricate, golden pocketwatch.
It's open, and has far too many hands. He can see the gears inside it, and even though none of the seventeen hands are moving, the gears are. If he looks closer at the gears, he can start to see...something.
It looked like space. Like a galaxy, hidden in between the gears.
He pokes around it for a bit, but nothing happens. It just sits there, looking shiny and expensive.
He had no idea what this thing was, but...it was probably worth a lot. If it wasn't, the kids would like it.
He reaches out, grabs it, and wakes up in his body, surrounded by shields and people telling him not to move.
Except the next time he tries to use Instant, time freezes all around him; and his body has no ill effects. In fact, he can feel not only his time, but every single version of himself at all points in time.
The drawback comes after he stops using the power; every orifice that can bleed, does, and he faints from blood loss so intense that his regeneration Power can't keep up.
He calls a meeting with Jack and Cage later, to find out what the fuck happened.
She takes one look at him and dives for the bar. Jack takes a longer look and joins her.
"You crazy bastard," Cage says between swigs, refusing to look at Cale.
"How did you steal a god's power?" Jack asks, voice high pitched as he shakily pours himself a glass of wine.

Grian right hand was softly holding onto Mumbo's right hand. Soft chirps were heard as Mumbk fangs were in Grian's neck. Mumbo wasn't hungry, but someone ejected Grian bloodstream with something poison only to avians. The rest of the Hermits were trying to find the culprit while Mumbo stayed with Grian.
It maybe still wasn't the smartest idea for Mumbo to drink so much blood, but he'd take a few hours of feeling nauseous and bloated if it meant Grian made it out of this safe. Once he's drunk enough of the poison out, then he can start feeding Grian potions to regenerate some of that lost blood.
He thinks he's doing an alright job. He's stopped trembling at least! That was... A problem. But it's hard not to when he's this nervous about Grian.
He's sure he'll break down later over all this. And Grian will be there, a bit drowsy but on the mend, to tell him it's all okay. He's holding onto that thought.

awak3andal1v3 asked: "They're safe— Hey! They're safe. Let's focus on you for a minute, ok?"
❝ what— ❞ it doesn't quite have a name, but there's something similar to adrenaline that occurs in deviants. a lack of self-awareness. he knew he'd been fired at - even knew he'd been hit, probably - but the danger he was in had not yet occurred to him. it wasn't a priority. saving as many people as possible, that was his mission. and he'd done remarkably well. still on high-alert, the android didn't even notice the thirium spilling from a wound on his chest.
Tumblr media
his vision was patchy. he was entering low-power mode, a reflex to slow the loss of thirium. unfortunately, it affected the mind as well, making critical thinking difficult. it's making connor confused. disoriented, even. ❝ what happened? ❞ it feels like his knees are about to give way. another reflex: standing, it's a waste of energy. consciousness would be the last to go. he was far from that point, but he definitely knew something was wrong. for the first time he feels... tired?

Day twenty four: Bloody Clothes
Whumper likes to save the blood soaked clothes from their victims. The stains act like a tie dye that immortalize the whumpees suffering. In fact, whumper gets a little too involved and starts experimenting with actual tie dye blood that they drain from their whumpees. Whumper then makes the whumpees wear their own bloody dyed clothes!

Day Five: Best-Worst Bad Guy
Happy Whumptober Day 5!
Prompts: Every Whumpee's Needs, Blood Loss, Running out of Air, Hyperthermia
TW: Suffocation, gunshot wound, heat stroke, hallucinations, water deprivation.
Villain knew it was only a matter of time before this happened. They held their right hand against their left shoulder as they darted down the hallway, occasionally stealing glances at their pursuers. They pulled their hand away for a moment, only to see it was covered in their blood.
“Fuck.” They whispered before pressing their hand back over where they had been shot.
“You can run but you can’t hide Villain,” Supervillain called as she followed them down the hallway.
Villain ducked into one of the empty labs along the hallway and hid out of sight as best as they could. They held their breath as they heard Supervillain’s heels click on the floor, then paused at the door to the room they were currently hiding in. Seconds passed, Villain held in their breath, afraid even the tiniest noise would alert their pursuer of their location. As Supervillain’s heels clicked away, Villain let out a sigh of relief. They went to inhale, but suddenly found all the air had been sucked from their lungs. As they gasped for air, they couldn’t help but want to cry.
“Tt, foolish Villain.” Supervillain’s shoes clacked as she came back towards where Villain was hiding. “Have you forgotten what I’m capable of?” Even if Villain wanted to respond, they weren’t sure they had the air to do so. “Show yourself if you want to breathe again.” Villain felt their face turn blue, their lungs burned for air. Somehow they stumbled back out into the hallway, and the air rushed back to their lungs. Villain took gasping, shuddering breaths as they tried to regulate their breathing again.
“Fuck you.” They panted, mentally promising themselves they would flip Supervillain off once they could focus on anything but being suffocated.
Supervillain squatted down to where Villain was kneeling and tilted their chin upward, “To think I took you under my wing.” Supervillain spat in their face, then sneered, “I think it’s high time you relearned some manners.”
Two guards, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, each grab one of Villain’s arms, quickly dragging them away from Supervillain. Villain wants to fight so desperately, but one look in Supervillain’s eyes reminds them of what will happen if they try to escape again. If only suffocation got easier each time it happened.
Villain feels a pinprick in their neck as Supervillain begins to walk away. The guards are smart like that. Without the threat of suffocation, what else would keep them in line? They numbly register being dragged down several flights of stairs. Villain knows this will hurt later, they’ll probably be bruised from it, but what else can they do? Their limbs feel heavy, almost as if they were lined with lead. The lights get dimmer and dimmer as they descend levels until finally they have reached sub-basement 3.
Villain barely registers being tossed in a cell, or the fact that they are now chained to the wall with barely any wiggle room. They want to call after the guards, maybe bribe them, but their mouth refuses to open. Words die in their throat before they can hit their lips.
When they wake up the next morning, the first thing they notice is the intense heat. All the moisture is gone from Villain’s mouth, and there isn’t a single drop of water in sight. Villain goes to rub their eyes, which are itching from how dry they are, only to be reminded that they are chained to a wall. They let their head roll backwards for a second, hoping it’ll help them collect their thoughts. It doesn’t.
“Hello?” They call, as loud as they can. “Hey I think you guys left the heater on!” Villain tugs experimentally against their chains to no avail. “What’s a person gotta do to get some water around here?” They try to joke, but the lack of moisture makes Villain cough over the sound of any response. “Hello?” They drop their head, sweat rolling down their forehead in droves. “Fuck! Okay I’ve learned my lesson, I’ll be a good little villain now just please! Can I at least get some water?”
They are about to give up on yelling, when they hear the sound of a lock turning in the door. A guard storms in, face red with rage, and he’s carrying what looks like a water bowl for a dog. He sets it in front of them, then crosses his arms.
“Will this get ya to shut up?”
“Yes! Oh gods yes please thank you!” They wait expectantly for the guard to uncuff them so they can drink, but he doesn’t make any moves to do so. “Can I be uncuffed so I can drink please?”
“Ha!” The guard rolls his eyes, then kicks the bowl a little closer with his foot, spilling precious water. “Boss lady said she wants you trained, so we’re startin’ with the basics. Eatin’ from a bowl.”
“You can’t be serious.”
“I could jus’ take the water away if that’ll make you happy.”
“No!” Villain shouts, “I’m sorry, please don’t.” They awkwardly bend forward until their head is inches from the bowl of water, wincing at the strain this position puts on their arms. They take a sip of the water and almost spit it out when they realize it’s warm. They force themself to swallow, then steal a glance up at the guard.
“Somethin’ wrong?”
“The water it’s-”
“Warm? I’m aware.” He laughs cruelly, “We’re sweatin’ the goody-two-shoes out of ya. Now drink up before I take it away.”
Villain bites back a cry before returning to the warm water. They drink the whole bowl, feeling slightly less parched than before, but still craving crisp cool water. The man picks up the bowl, then glares at Villain one more time.
“Aren’t ya forgetting something?”
“Thank you for the water.” They drop their head, both as a sign of respect and a sign of exhaustion. Satisfied, the man exits the cell, quickly locking it behind him.
Villain wants to bang their head against the wall behind them. They want to cry so badly. Their throat begins to choke up from holding in the tears, but they know crying would waste precious water. Eventually, the urge to cry disappears, replaced by a new feeling: fear. They aren’t sure how long they’ve been sitting in the cell, possibly a couple hours.
All they are sure about is how hot it is. Villain’s heart feels like it’s been moving a thousand miles per hour, and they feel absolutely drenched in sweat. Villain pities whoever will walk into the room next, even though they are numb to the stench of their sweat, they are positive this room reeks. Villain spots a figure in the room, when did the door open?
A warm glow surrounds the other person in the room. Villain can’t help but smile as they take in the glittering nest of curls resting atop this new person’s head, as if it was a halo. They watch this woman step closer to them, then they feel her hand cup their cheek. So faint it’s almost as if she wasn’t really there. She laughs, was it something I said? Villain doesn’t remember saying anything, but why would this person laugh if nothing was said?
“Help me.” Villain manages to sputter out, but the person just smiles, then turns to go. Villain tugs as hard as they can on their bindings. “Wait! Please don’t leave me! I’ll be good-er bad! I’ll be the best-worst bad villain there ever was….” Villain shakes their head, “I’m getting all mixed up now aren’t I?” The woman grabs the door handle and pulls it open, then walks into a white light. What happened to the corridor outside? The guard?
The sound of the door creaking open snaps them back into reality. Was it really all fake? A caped figure sneaks into the cell, quickly scanning it for any threats or weaknesses before focusing on Villain. They move the hood so it no longer obscures their face, only to reveal the woman from Villain’s hallucination.
“Villain?!”

Some good old Healer!Xyll, taken as prisoner in an under-manned Garlean camp. l took some inspiration from @\the-imperial-nuisance - hope you don't mind! This is pretty tangential to the prompt, but that's fine. I am not ready to post this but it's posting day so out into the world it goes help-
"I need to stay here with this patient," Xylluna says, flicking an ear back. "Send someone else."
"You are here to take orders, not make decisions. Come along."
Xylluna keeps their hands over the wounded woman's side, green ether flowing from their palms into the gash left by, presumably, an Eorzean blade. "If I am to follow the orders I was previously given, then I am staying here. You can tell your commander as much."
Something blunt jabs them between the shoulders, and they almost fall onto their patient, but they manage to fall to the floor instead. The aether's glow fizzles out. "No more warnings, or you'll both be-"
Without thinking, Xylluna stands up and uppercuts the officer in the jaw in one fluid motion, sending him reeling backwards. "She is my patient, and I can only assume --"
"Someone contain this beast," the officer commands once he steadies himself, and two of the mostly-recovered soldiers -- who, up until now, had been passively watching as if they weren't sure what to do -- pick up their swords and begin to approach them.
A third, still covered in bandages, chimes in. "Sir, shouldn't we let the Viera -- er, let them stay until another chirurgeon arrives?"
The officer's face, just barely starting to bruise, turns red with anger. Xylluna watches the two, hands raised unthreateningly, as one of the two recovering soldiers retrieves some rope. "The thing you don't understand about Eorzeans, boy, is that they're craftier than you realize. He might have looked like he was healing Cantia, but make no mistake…"
"Primum non nocere," Xylluna interrupts, scowling, as the guards bind their hands. Their accent is thick without the help of the Echo, but there is some satisfaction in speaking the words themself, even if the Garleans probably don't understand what's happening. "I may be a Conjurer, but I am a Scholar, too. And he's right -- " they shout back into the tent as they are escorted across the camp, "if you don't let me heal her, she's likely to go into shock." They realize the officer never stopped lecturing his subordinate, and walk the rest of the way in uneasy silence.
They finally stop at a larger, but still plain-looking tent. One of the guards peeks inside the door and, a few moments later, a woman -- by her dress, a medical officer -- emerges with a furrowed brow and greying hair. "Why did you bring me the prisoner? I told you to keep them busy in the ward while I sterilize my equipment." Xylluna raises an eyebrow.
"Yes, I'm sure you'd like to know why I'm doing that kind of grunt work, or why I'm trusting you with our soldiers, but I'm already showing you more than I'd like."
"Well, sir," one of the guards says, hesitantly, "The Decurion -- "
"He ordered you to come here?"
"No, sir, he ordered us take the Eorzean to interrogation, but --"
"Who is running the ward right now?"
The guards stare nervously at one another for a long, tense moment, the medical officer looming over them.
Xylluna risks piping in. "Cantia is bleeding out. I was for bidden to stay and continue to help her. One of the other soldiers in the ward did try --"
The woman points to the closer of the two soldiers. "You, untie them. We can hear the rest of the story later. This is the last time the bastard tries to overrule me."
---
Trying to resuscitate Cantia is difficult with all the commotion, but Xylluna seems to be managing, at the very least, to keep what blood she has left from pouring out. The two officers are engaged in a shouting match over whose orders apply when, and Xylluna picks up that they haven't received any supplies or orders in a very long time. They want to tear into both officers -- who in the hells would leave a stranger in charge of the ward so they could clean, rather than the other why around? Who insists on leaving a bleeding soldier to die? None of it makes any sense -- but for now, there's nothing to do but focus. And they do focus -- until the poor soldier's breathing steadies.
"She's going to make it," Xylluna announces, and waits a moment for an answer, but the squabbling continues.
In a lower, softer voice, they ask, "Cantia, can you hear me?"
There is no response from her. Xylluna takes another long, hard look at the gash in her side now that it's closed. Whatever it was made with had been dirty. Had the Garleans lied about her being wounded in battle? She was not the only one to return, but the party had been small -- not that they had the men to comprise anything more than a small contingent. It would have been a small skirmish, then, for the rest to survive it, perhaps over something scarce nearby. So small there may not have even been other people involved. They could have been skirmishing with a mountain lion over a rabbit --
They hear their foot thump against the ground as they speak. "You were both just going to let her die, weren't you?"
Both officers freeze. Finally, something got their attention.
"You didn't want me to save her. You wanted me to either kill her deliberately, proving that I was an untrustworthy prisoner and you could get rid of me, or by accident, because I don't know 'proper' medicine. You don't have the resources to feed your camp. You haven't for a long while. So you've been letting them die so that they don't have to starve. It sounds merciful, almost, but that's not everything, either, is it?"
"Seize him," orders the Decurion.
No one moves.
Xylluna points at the medical officer. "You can't starve; you're too gods-damned important. So you've been hiding food in your supply closet and going away to 'clean' where no one can see you eating. And you," they point at the Decurion, "are in on the whole thing. This bickering is all just a show so that your soldiers don't notice while they're too busy trying to feed themselves."
"You heard him. Seize the prisoner," says the medical officer in a calm, steady voice.
One of the soldiers begins to approach Xylluna, placing himself between them and the officers. The others watch him warily.
The medical officer looks at one of the stationary soldiers. "You don't really believe we'd do that, do you?"
"Well, sir, it -- no, of course not, sir," he says, uncertainly, as he begins to approach Xylluna as well. He exchanges an uneasy gaze with the other soldiers as he walks past them. The rest begin to follow suit, even those still recovering from various injuries -- except for Cantia, lying unconscious, but finally stable, next to Xylluna.
Instead of seizing Xylluna, the soldiers form a wall in front of them. One of them draws her sword and points it at the two officers. "We're relieving you of command."

@tenebriism: [  NIGHT-INGALE  ] // (Settings with Potential Prompt) I'll let you decide between Connor and Markus on who plays what role!
it'd be safe to say that even though the revolution was over, even though the laws were starting to change, not everyone had changed their attitudes toward androids. markus had a huge target on his back - there was no question about it. he needed to be careful. but a quick walk to the store would be fine, right?
it all happened so fast. and the initial blow to the head that shot the vision in his right eye didn't help. it was a group of people: maybe three or four of them? he probably could've fought back a bit more - lord knows he has the combat skills - but markus was tired of violence, and wrestling the bat away from them was impossible. so he ran. it felt cowardly. it didn't support what he stood for. but it was the best move if he wanted to live to see another day.
admittedly, connor wasn't the first person to cross his mind. but he was nearby, and he had connections to the police. he isn't sure if he's being followed, or if it's just paranoia setting in, but markus pounds a fist on the door rather incessantly until he sees the knob start to turn.
markus is in a pretty bad way — he's losing a lot of blood, mostly from the gash on his head. he has scrapes and dents on most of his body, especially his arms. his right eye was completely non-visual. deviants still couldn't really feel pain, but they could tell when something was wrong. they couldn't function as well. it was sort of like feeling sluggish. ❝ hey, ❞ is what he musters up.
