Top five headcanons for either A) Kryptonian Biology, or B) Kryptonian Culture

THEY CAN PURR!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am going to cat-code kryptonians so hard (well, catdog. dog software running on cat hardware?). they have to purr and sleep in little piles in patches of sunlight and also have tapeta lucida and weirdly mobile joints.

kryptonians have significantly less notable sexual dimorphism than humans. instead they've got a bidirectional hermaphroditism thing going on - they have both ovaries and testes etc, and hormonal cycles that dictate their oogenic and spermatogenic phases. (they're not ever oogenic and spermatogenic at the same time; it cycles.)

their cells, all of them but skin cells in particular, have aggressive genetic repair systems somewhat like a crispr-cas9 complex, to combat thymine dimerization and other potential dna damage from all the various forms of radiation they regularly expose themselves to via their [bonkers insane] photosynthesis. this is also why it's so hard to clone them from an adult; if the dna already has shortened telomeres that aren't "supposed to be" that short, the embryonic cells will simply apoptose en masse and the tissue will not develop.

tied to their bonkers insane photosynthesis: like humans, they have hemoglobin as the primary oxygen-carrier in their blood, but via whatever the fuck is going on that makes shorter wavelengths of light make their photosynthesis more efficient by many orders of magnitude, their oxygen efficiency also increases manyfold. this is why they still need to breathe under a red sun, but not under yellow ones - they do still need to breathe under yellow light, but not for several hours, as compared to minutes under red light. in this way, they are kind of like whales. in space.

when they've gotten a lot of sunlight to the point that their bodies' mechanisms of internal energy storage are saturated, they glow very slightly. it's particularly noticeable in the eyes, since the heat vision is a very easy way to expel energy. this is part of why they tend to wear glasses in civilian guises; blue light filters make it harder to notice any glow around their eyes after a long day out in the sun. also, glowing eyes are just sexy.

Weird ways of reproduction across the animal kingdom

Since a lot of people who don't understand sarcasm are mad at me because of that one post about bugs, I figured I should write something cool to soothe the biology side of tumblr.

Plus, I'm bored as hell and have plenty of time.

Anglerfish

Remember that one weird fish thing that showed up halfway through the first Nemo movie? The one with a lamp on its head and stuff?

This one???

In case you don't know, that's an anglerfish. They're probably one of the most famous "weird" fishes out there, with their bizarre-looking faces, tusklike teeth, and the lantern thing on their heads - which they use to hunt prey in the cold darkness of the deep seas.

But what if I told you this only applies to girls?

To begin with, male anglerfish don't have lamp things. Or tusks. Or anything resembling their female counterparts, really.

They are tiny, barely-functioning creatures who are easy prey to anything larger than a hand. The only way they survive for more than a week on the open darkness is due to their heightened sense of smell, which helps them to find food and mates.

And when the latter happens, things start to get crazy.

Anglerfish mate for life, because their life basically ends after they mate.

When a male anglerfish finds a partner, he'll start biting her skin on a random spot - usually on her back, as if trying to eat her. Then, amidst the constant lovebites, his whole body will start melting like an icecream cone under the summer. He won't mind, though, and will keep biting his girlfriend until he is completely fused to her skin and becomes a brand new organ on her body, being kept alive solely via the blood coming through her vascular system, which are now connected to his. The female can then use his sperm cells to impregnate herself whenever she feels like it.

One last thing before we go: this can happen to the same girl angler multiple times. Meaning that, somewhere under the sea, there's an angler with an entire harem's worth of males fused to her back. Cool.

Side-Blotched Lizard

The side-blotched lizard society is home to four different genders: male, female, gigachad and femboy.

For starters, we have the orange-throated lizard (left); which is usually stronger than the others and constantly adds new females to his territory, building a harem of his own. Though he is somewhat violent towards the other males and does protect the females from outside threats (and competitors), he does not form any sort of bond with them.

The blue-throated lizard (centre) is smaller, weaker, and only mates with a single female, which bonds with him for the rest of his life. Though he is weaker than the orange one, he does his best to protect his wife and maintains a (albeit smaller) territory of his own.

And then we have the yellow-throated lizard (right), which is my favourite one. They are weaker than the other two, have no territory of their own, and resemble females due to their colouration. He lives near the orange lizard's territory, and constantly sneaks in to mate with his wives when he isn't looking. Since the orange lizard doesn't form lasting bonds with his wives, he is not always near them, and they in turn have no problem mating with another male - the blue lizard's wive, however, will refuse any yellow lizards, remaning faithful to her husband instead.

Every article I found about these little guys says they're like a game of rock-paper-scissors - but for me, the way these guys mate is more similar to modern human relationship dynamics than any other primate I can think of.

Flatworm

These bitches look so cool. They're like the drag queen version of slugs.

To begin with, flatworms are all hermaphrodites. They can self-fertilise themselves in order to produce offspring, but they would rather not to. They are fully aware of Bateman's principle (Which has NOTHING TO DO with this Bateman, thank you very much), And hate getting pregnant, for it means spending valuable resources to nurture your offspring for a rather long period of time.

So, instead of self-fertilising, some species literally beat the shit out of their potential partner to decide which of them will get pregnant.

But since they have no hands, they use their penises instead.

A flatworm's dong is pointed - sometimes hooked - and capable of direcly injecting sperm on their partner (or adversary?)'s skin like a syringe, instantly impregnating them. The "match" usually lasts a couple of minutes, with the winner impregnating the loser and leaving to search for another adversary, and the loser eventually giving birth (metaphorically - they are egg-laying animals) to a new generation.

Neotrogla Wasp

I stand by my previous point - wasps are evil. But this one is kinda cool.

These wasps - which, unfortunately, are native to my home state and this is something I have to deal with - have an unique method of reproduction which some people call "gender-bender sex": the females have penises, which they inject into the males in order to suck sperm out of them. Here, the Bateman's principle is reversed: females try to mate with as many males as they can, whilst the males are more selective with their partners. The whole reproduction process can take over seventy hours to complete, and the happy couple will not be separated until it's over - when scientists tried to forcefully separate them, the male was split into two, its reproductive half remaining attached to his wife's lovemaking stick.

Jellyfish

Jellyfish are the coolest animals on the entire planet and none of you will ever make me change my mind.

Jellyfish have this rather bizarre way of having babies, which combines asexual and sexual reproduction. Firstly, a jellyfish gives birth (again metaphorically - they have no coochies) to a larvae, which slowly grows into a polyp. After a certain point, the polyps stop eating and attach themselves to the seafloor, growing into something that resembles a mixture of a sack of coins and a sea anemone. After that, it becomes a strobila; whose top segments are slowly peeled off and drift away to become free-floating creatures known as ephyras, which then grow into an adult jellyfish.

Using human terms for familiarisation, it's kinda like if a woman gave birth to a walking womb, which then attached itself to a wall and slowly grew into a small pile of babies - which, in turn, slowly freed themselves from the pile; growing into a child, then a functional adult, to restart the cycle again.

Sharks

I don't particularly like sharks. They're like the dinosaurs of the oceans - people think they're so cool because they are big predators with sharp teeth, even though the actually awesome creatures are crawling through the unseen dephts, like a jellyfish. Still, their reproductive process is metal as hell.

To begin with, not all sharks lay eggs. Some of them get pregnant just like humans - though they obviously have no boobs to produce milk. One key difference is that a shark fetus will grow teeth whilst still in the womb, and if they do happen to share said womb with a sibling or two, it's not an uncommon occurence for them to literally bite themselves to death inside their mother. When this happens, one of the sharks usually keeps fighting until he's the only one in the womb, and he safely comes into this world knowing he'll always be his mum's favourite. (just kidding - sharks don't raise their young.)

This might be a bit "normal" compared to the other creatures on this list, but imagine if you're expecting triplets, only to give birth to a really buff baby with lots of scars nine months later. Like I said, metal as hell.

Rafkonians are descended from Rafkon’s equivalent of early tetrapods that retained their sex-swapping ability and electroreceptory abilities. As of present, their sexswapping has evolved into hermaphroditism and electroreceptory to full on mind reading.

Rafkonians are highly adaptive to environmental changes, as such there are several subspecies, or there used to be 66 million years ago, as due to the planet’s depletion of resources in the past 22,000 to 8,000 years. Because of this, near extinction and resource depletion, all subspecies of Rafkonian have gone extinct and have melded into one.

The Rafkonians have existed for about 100-170 million years, and are highly resilient. A lasting population of about 20,000-12,000 Rafkonians now exists on earth after the Dino Fury, now Cosmic Fury, Power Rangers defeated Void Queen.

66 million years ago was a golden era on Rafkon, the majority of subspecies existed at this point, the most prolific were the Coastal and Desert subspecies.

The Coastal and Desert subspecies lived on a supercontinent with the Mangrove and Glacial subspecies.

Coastal Rafkonians were the largest subspecies, height ranging from 5-10ft/3.66-9.33 (I don’t know how to properly translate ft to meters ok) and length from nose to tail being 20-45ft/18.66-(idk)m. Coastal Rafkonians usually have sand, golden, and sky blue skin, but their bioluminescent regions can be any color.

Side note: If we had huge shark Aiyon fireworks for the dead wouldn’t exist, or at least Ollie would be severely injured.

-Wyverns is invertebrates. They have a lobster-like shell-skeleton-thing beneath their skin that keeps their shape and protects their organs. Their beaks and resonating chambers are coated in keratin to reinforce them. Its much more "Wyvern-shaped" than Earth vertebrate skeletons.

-Wyverns don't have feathers, but rather coarse "hairs" like insects. The hairs are very thick (some individuals acclimated to colder climates can have up to 10 hairs per follicle, but its usually 1 or 2) and stiff. Touching a Wyvern feels like running your hand over a soft-bristle hairbrush. They usually range from 1-4 inches in length and stand straight up and away from the body, but sometimes can be longer and/or "shaggier."

-They come in lots of colors, from purples and blues to reds and oranges! Their color runs down to their skin, so a hairless Wyvern would still retain their color and pattern. Colors are genetic and related clanmates usually share similar colors, inherited from their parents. Brighter colors are considered more attractive, with the exception of pink. Pink wyverns are a form of hypopigmentation where the skin and hairs don't fully develop normal color, so they appear varying shades of pink depending on the levels of pigment in their skin. Rikki is a good example of a hypopigmented Wyvern- he retains some red pigment but is mostly pinkish in color. Pink is often used as an alarm or threat color, as their blood is magenta.

-Wyverns have a bisex system, but it doesn't quite work the same way ours does. One sex can only reproduce sexually with another Wyvern, while the other can reproduce parthenogenically (asexually) as well as sexually. There is no sexual dimorphism between the two. Exclusively sexual reproducers can mate either with the opposite sex or with each other (hence why I hesitate to call the sexes "male" and "female." The closest analogue here on Earth that I can find is gynodioecy, where females and hermaphrodites coexist, with the asexual reproducers being the "females" in this scenario. Confusing, I know. This is also totally prone to retcons as I'm not sold on it yet.)

In line with reproductive stuff while keeping it as SFW as possible, Wyverns are sort of marsupial-like in young development. They form a marsupium (a sort of weird external sack to hold developing offspring in. Isopods do it, its totally cool and weird) on their abdomen, where the offspring develop for a few months before they break out as little scraggly cotton balls called whelps. The whelps can't walk on their own, and are totally dependent on their parents for the first few years of their lives. They can eat solid food from birth but depend on their parents (and other adults in the clan) to carry them around, feed them, and protect them until they're old enough to start flying and their wings get strong enough to walk on. As soon as they're fully flighted, they're considered adults in the way of becoming a full-fledged clan member, but don't become fully physically mature until they're about 20, when their resonating chamber starts to grow out into its full display structure (which takes another year or so to finish.)

Laagharee (Kenterians)

Carnivorous bird species originating from now uninhabitable planet.

Average adult height is 250cm, weight - 170kg. Males are a bit taller, have vibrant colored eyes and dark feathers. Females are bulkier and shorter, have vider shoulders and hips and generally physically stronger than males. They have light colored feathers and dull eyes.

Male and female coloration from different ethnicities:

Kenterians lay large softshell eggs (1-2 at a time). Hatchlings are the size of an adult cat. Unlike adults children are almost fully feathered and loose their feathers when they reach adulthood at 25-35 years old. Laagharee live up to 200 years or more.

Laagharee child:

Kenterians have a very complex voicebox, that allows them to make and mimic a wide variety of sounds. Their language is very complex and often uses whistles, hissed, clicks and other sounds besides regular phonemes. This makes understanding and speaking hard for other aliens, so there is a more widely used simplified version of the language. Writing system has letters and symbols for sounds(most sounds are not used in simplified version) and also vowel length indicators (and tone indicators in complex version).

Garavi

Definitely not your typical human placeholder species ;)

Look like humans, live like humans, function like humans.

Except they have horns, copper based blood, blue meat and different skin pigmentation.

Garavi can be blue, teal, lime and yellow colored. Basically blue=white, green=brown and yellow=dark skin (and corresponding ethnicities idk how to phrase it) . Pigment is tied to genetics and not sun exposure but is kinda influenced by it. Also they can't tan.

Horns are about 3-5cm long and can have different shapes. Females horns are a bit smaller than males. Horns are solely for display purposes and in modern times don't have any practical uses.

Tagaar

Humanoid obligate carnivore. Apex predator of their harsh cold homeplanet.

On the outside they look similar to garavi but are actually very different. The most obvious features are 12 red facet eyes, head crest and 6 tendrils. Their skin color and patterns varies from blues to browns with stripes and spots.

Crest and tendrils are used in display and termoregulation . Males crest and tendrils are bigger and pointier, females have smaller and smoother crest and round tendrils.

Inside the tendrils there are secretary glands that produce antifreeze liquid that absorbs and keeps warmth. This liquid spreads under the skin across all body, and keeps tagaar from freezing. Tagaar people have a unique termoregulation system. When outside temperature is warm their body only absorbs the heat, in cold temperatures antifreeze liquid keeps heat inside the body and only after a few hours when it cools down the body starts to produce its own heat. Unfortunately if very how weather (over 25-30°C) this can lead to overheating, fainting and even death.

Out of their 12 eyes only bigger two see color. Other eyes are pointed to the sides and detect movement and heat instead. Tagaar have a worse color vision and do not see green.

Tagaar also have sharp teeth, wide opening outer jaw and flexible inside jaw, hidden inside the throat and powerful jaw muscles. Their salvia contains ferments that prevent blood clotting and promotes wound rot.

Females lay 8 - 10 round semi transparent fist sized eggs. After two months larva hatches. Larvae are small and white, they have exposed inner jaw and developing outer jaw, their bones are soft, limbs are extremely short, and they also have a tail to store nutrients. After 3-4 years larva forms a cocoon out of its tail and will morph into a imago for another two years. After morphing tagaar resembles adults, grows out limbs, proper jaw, small crest and tendrils, forms a sex and continues development into an adult.

Cana-omi

Small, four armed hermaphrodite obligate herbivores.

Species name translates to "pinecone head". Two growths on their head and two pairs of arms are their most prominent features.

Their hands have four digits, two of tnem being thumbs. Feet have similar structure. This alows them to easily climb gigantic trees of their home planet.

Their skin is covered in thin fur and it's color can change from brown to green depending on the persons mood, wellbeing and hormonal cycle.

Cones on their head contain some sensory organs and hormone secreting glands. Under the first skin fold there are ears. There are nostrills in between theic cheeks and cones and another pair on their chest.

Cana-omi are hermaphrodites and chage sex in yearly cycles. I haven't thought more about their reproductive system for now.

Tcha'chsi

Small flying sophonts. Their species is currently uncontacted (except only one individual) and is in it's medieval age.

They have bat like wings with membranes stretched from tail to fingers and are capable of active flight. They use their feet as hands instead.

They have tastebuds on their face that can smell and taste things. Inside their mouth are 4 venomous fangs. Tcha'chsi poison their prey and swallow it whole.

They speak in clicks and scritches from two nostrills on the base of their necks.

Tcha'chsi have 5 sexes, two "female" , three "male". Females are white and gray, and males are yellow, orange and red. Red colred males are considered a lower caste of society and are forbidden from reproducing.

Shiarha

They are a species of four armed cannivorous lizards. Currently uncontacted but space developed.

They can lift frills on their head to intimidate oponents. Males have bigger red frills and bright red throat used in mating displays.

Communicate mainly in hisses and short words and tail gestures.

(You probably won't see many content on them sorry not sorry)

The Siadar- Basic Introduction

The Siadar, or Astsar Siadar/Highers/Virtuous, are a god-like race of beings who have, for the longest time now, exerted their presence across several planets. Their reach may be intergalactic as of current times.

They proclaim themselves to be heralds of order and union, with the common goal of establishing maximum efficiency and coherence across the universe. Is this a feasible goal? To them, yes.

General traits/ideas

Siadar have a wild variety of physical appearances, some being noticeably humanoid and others taking on an amalgamation of shapes and/or objects. Their coloration tends to be pale, although swirls of color will develop naturally as they age. The less blemished and paler one's skin is, the more attractive they're considered.

(Krulu, as you know, has a deeply charred dark coloration, but he was once completely pale and had very few tints of ocean blue on his body. He was described as an extremely attractive protector.)

A siadar's gender is not determined at birth. All siadar use, in addition to other pronouns, they/them. Their gender is picked usually at some point during adulthood, by themselves alone. There exists a fair amount of genital variety and only a small portion of their population is hermaphroditic. At some point in life they may choose to change their forms and identify as something else, it's actually quite natural when one lives for ages;

Any non-deviant siadar values order and discipline above all else. They have a very serious and demanding justice system in place. The worst of the worst usually get tossed into a barren, extremely vicious realm dubbed "The Null", which effectively works as a god's prison;

Contact with lessers has been cut entirely ever since direct mingling experimentations on Earth lead to the rampant genesis of monsters (hybrids between siadar and humans), beings who are the very antithesis of sense and order. Shamed by their failure and inability to exert self-discipline, Earth has thus been abandoned and they refuse to engage directly with their creations anywhere else;

Siadar may occasionally visit the planets they orchestrate through the use of vessels, which functions exactly like a possession. Possessions were originally joyous occasions and only ever started acquiring negative connotations once interlevel contact was deemed prohibited, and deviant siadar attempted to force their way into a lesser's body to visit Earth. A forced possession is very damaging and oftentimes even fatal;

By this logic, yes, humans are older than monsters. Most religions have been created by humans as well, as a coping mechanism for the abandonment of their gods;

Their siadar genetics, whatever's left of them, is what makes monsters usually more powerful and diverse than humans. The less mingling with lessers there is in the species, the more siadar-like they tend to be, naturally. (Like breeders, such as Breg.)

Casts

Siadar have a role-based society that operates a lot like a colony (with low social mobility), featuring several ranks, the main ones being:

Creators. The most high-ranking siadar, featuring members with immense power, magical aptitude and respected by all. These highers are in charge of originating lifeforms to populate planets, or tweaking pre-existent ones. They often work in groups, but there are instances of particularly "seasoned" creators operating entire planets on their own. Elements of this cast are often given the titles of "Mother" and "Father" (or both), and are addressed that way exclusively by lower-ranked siadar. Creators are physically the biggest, and have always preferred not to establish much contact with the lifeforms directly spawned by them. (Creators have several sub-groups who specialize in different tasks, among them evaluators, matemakers, conceptualists.);

Protectors. A more versatile, combat-oriented cast, whose name is self-explanatory really. These siadar have the most contact with planets, being deployed to establish order, usually commandeering an army of angels with them. It's common for them to have several limbs, more ocular organs and/or mouths. Tails are also more frequent here. (Protectors have a couple of sub-groups, also more specialized, such as defenders, enforcers, keepers and champions.);

Upholders/Workers. The masses mostly. Siadar of varying degrees of power who maintain the inner workings of their society. The most variety in appearance can be found inside this cast. Among them are curators, scribes, counselors, and assistants.

Terminology

Spawn = A creation. Not to be confused with offspring.

Offspring = A siadar child.

Higher = A siadar.

Lesser = Used to describe creations of all kinds.

Hybrids/Aberrations = Terms commonly used by the siadar to describe monsters, who they don't like in case that wasn't clear.

Interlevel = Referring to interactions between highers and lessers.

Eden = Heaven.

Perdition = Hell.

Surface = The main "realm", the core, the planet itself, Earth.

Celestials = Creations made to operate in Eden, mostly angels.

Wicked = Demons.

Blush Linbanite = A type of mineral not from Earth, valued immensely in an aesthetic sense for siadar, has a velvet tint that makes it easily mistakable for Hell gold.

Deviant = A siadar who actively breaks rules and engages in punishable offenses.

Heaven and Hell

(I won't go into too much detail here.)

Heaven and Hell are realms exclusive to Earth, meaning they aren't connected to any other planets.

Eden existed longer than humans have, and it was populated by both angels and siadar. Contrary to Hell, it's a vast space, where order is maintained not through physical barriers but by the people within it. Angels have several choirs. Ever since the departure of siadar, they have become lethargic, dysfunctional and depressed, many of them dying of heartbreak over the years.

Krulu has not been the first to deviate and he won't be the last. Before him, another siadar of undefined cast (though likely a creator) deviated, disagreeing with their kind's current methodology and forming Hell as it is known today. Angels followed them into Perdition and were physically altered to make the first demons, and the first Icons (which are not the current ones). Naturally, the forces of Hell and Heaven have been butting heads ever since, juggling power over the surface. Hell is divided in rings, order was kept through the siadar that ruled it and his icons. In perhaps a cautionary tale of blind ambition, said ruler of Perdition ended up being betrayed by the demons closest to them, and Hell is now messily ruled by Icons alone.

The reason demons are often seen in the surface is because, ever since siadar abandoned the planet, angels steadily gave up the hunt and are unable to operate on their own.

so first i'm going to talk about the spanish dancer C:

they eat toxic sponges (from the halichondria family) and absorb the toxins into their skin to deter predators!!

their gills are actually external!! they're those frilly thingys you see at the base of their tail which is SO COOL if you ask me bc omg!! external gills!! and the beautiful thing about sea slugs is that their gills are all different, so you get unique gill formations with each sea slug species!! :D

also they're hermaphrodites, which means they have both male and female sex organs. and speaking of that, have you seen their egg clusters?

yes, those are eggs!! the spanish dancer coats the eggs in the same toxins it produces to protect them, and if the eggs survive they will hatch with 8-9 days!! C: ofc these sea slugs only live about a year sigh

now if you thought the spanish dancer was pretty (and i hope you did!!) feast your eyes on the blue angel!!

do you remember the man-of-war i talked about? well these little guys gobble him up for breakfast!! they feed on venomous animals (like siphonophores) and just like the spanish dancer, they take the toxins from the animals they feed on and store it in their own skin!!

the six branching appendages you see are what stores the absorbed nematocysts. the toxins are stored in cnidosacs, which are sacs at the tips!!

(The most badass creature in the sea) (ok admittedly maybe not that badass but still pretty badass)

I'm really excited to do the so-called "blue dragon" for my first post, because it is my absolute favorite animal. Even though I thought I knew pretty much everything I could about it, I still learned a couple new things researching.

The blue glaucus, aka glaucus atlanticus, is a 3-centimeter-long sea slug living in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. If you read the title at all, you'd see my claim that the blue glaucus is the most badass creature in the sea. Okay, I exaggerated- maybe they're not exactly super badass. I wouldn't exactly be running away screaming in terror if I saw a one inch "sea slug" floating around at the beach. But, despite its size, the blue glaucus is extremely dangerous. It holds the concentrated venom of its prey, the Portuguese Man O' War (yes, the funky looking jellyfish with extremely long and terrifying tentacles). They're protected from the venom by a layer of mucus in their skin and can store the stinging nematocysts inside of their bodies. As sea slugs, the glaucus isn't poisonous without obtaining the venom from a Man O' War first. However, once stored, a sting from this "blue angel" can kill a human.

The blue glaucus spends most of its time floating around on its back near the ocean surface, hiding from birds and loggerhead sea turtles with a camouflage known as countershading. The glaucus's lighter top and darker blue bottom help it blend into the natural light of the ocean. The blue dragon lives a relatively simple lifestyle, using swallowed CO2 bubbles to float or sinking towards the bottom of shallower waters. It doesn't live very long, with a life span of only a month to a year. With a mucus-covered layer of skin, the blue glaucus is protected from any stings it may receive from its prey.

Some general badass characteristics of the blue glaucus:

-laying its eggs in its prey's carcasses.

-cannibalism.

-S-shaped dicks. (They also can sting each other during sex.)

The Remervan are reptiles capable of switching between quadrapedal and bipedal movement. They are a hermaphroditic species and can freely change sex, also lacking any sexual organs until maturity.

Because they are reptiles they are incapable of accurately speaking most alien languages and reley on translators, along with this they see based on heat and have difficulty reading most scripts (with their writings using inks that have special conductive properties or softwares that add more light to text)

They were the first species to fight on Earth to liberate humanity, due to their belief in fighting for the weak. This has also made the Remervan government a center of interstellar relations.

Glastanois;

Glastanois come from the same planet as Remervan (Salis-Zevrum, aka Salis 7) and are short and muscular amphibians with the ability to extend their limbs up to 15 feet.

Ancient Glastanoi culture was a strength based meritocracy that revialed the Remervan for resources before Salis-Zevrum was invaded by the Derovians, after which they became close allies and used their old social structure to create the planet's military structures.

Glastanois are also capable of controlling the blood flow in their body with enough focus and training, and can even chose to trigger adrenaline surges.

Araqualin:

Araqualin are blue humanoids that have adapted to live underwater, with gills, fins, and specialized eyes that block out the high salt content of the water while protecting from the high heat. However, they also poses weak lungs and can produce a thin mucus layer over their skin to stay moist.

Araqualin's became renowned for their ship craft due to the high atmospheric pressure, constant storms, and sphere of debris around their homeworld that forced them to create incredibley fast and durable ships.

A large section of the galaxy is made of planets first colonized by Araqualin explorers. And the first smuggler routes were developeded based of Araqualin shipment routes before the Quwaven Civil War.

Beowdohn;

The Beowdohn are completely covered in a calcium carbonate shell and have the highest heat tolerance of any species. Their homeworld, Valicus'nor (or Valicus Prime) was a mineral rich, tectonicly active, superearth in orbit of a blue giant and due to all these factors they quickly were able to spread out and colonize their solar system and neighboring solar system.

They soon encountered the Araqualin and following a Civil War over interspecies integration, trade rights, and Civil liberties in the Colonies. Following this the two have become inseparable allies.

Soon a lump of flesh grows over the arm and face alike. The plant life aids in cat to horse size insects that have markings that glow, and are so gentle. The produce grow vast and plenty before the winter storms arrive. The water as purple as a plum, filled with glowing fish that shine like glitter as they swin. The deeper the water the bigger and the more dangerous they are. The ground a soft peach hue. The entire planet is covered in baby blue crystals, that gives a low dim, as if lanterns are gently guiding you at night. In the mountains, caves give life of many gemstones and minerals, the rarest being gold. Despite the planet size, there are only a few tribes spread apart. Each with their own culture, but same belief. Community is importance in surviving peacefully. Teamwork is key!

• Babies: when an auroran is born, they are the lightes shade of grey with small sharp ears and gummed mouth with small tufts of white hair. They can appear to have 1-9 eyes, varying from the parents. The eye placement and size varies, it can only appear in one side of the face, the center, or both. Thin lines edge between the  mouth to the ear, signifying that they unhinge their jaws and appear to have a long and sharp tounge.

• Youth 1-10: As they grow the young aurorans will have a variety in their teeth. The most common being regular teeth that appear human or feline set. There are also a set that appears like a sabertooth, it may appear on either above or lower jaw, it's not as common but it isn't rare. Rarest ones are those that have a second row of teeth. Their white hair appears to grow slowly and straight. They also slowly learn to shift into their second form resembling that of a feline, tho they appear completely blank, no marks or patterns unless it's jewelry or scars.

• Pre-teen 11-12: Their white hair starts to form its own unique trait, they continue to train in their shifting abilities

• Teen 13-17: Hair becomes longer, either appearing as wavy, straight, curly ect. It can grow up to the waist or even longer. Shifting has fully developed and puberty hits.

• Adult hood 18-2499: once they are 18, the hair is finally cut to fit what the auroran feels is correct, once they have done their ritual they gain abilities, only one. There are 5 (6) abilities, 3 being elemental (earth, fire, water), 1 is space, and the other is nature (the last one is forbidden it is so rare it never happened and even if it did there is no history of it, the power to control all 3 elements). Once the ritual has been performed, the aurorans skin color changes in different shades of gray,  freckles appear, each being unique for each auroran and vary in different colors that glow in the dark. Their hair also  change, those who gain water, their hair appear to be a constant water fall, usually kept long. Those who gain fire, have a flame that changes its color varying their emotions and can be long or short. Those with earth have a varying shade of peach and can make it harden, it is strong  as steel, usually kept long (they are also able to manipulate it). Those who are of nature, becomes different shades of purple and appear to have vine like strands with varying leaves and flowers, usually kept short but sometimes long, as well as stylized. Space is very rare, their hair changing in cloud like, with sparkling twinkles appearing as stars and can change color depending on their emotion. (The full element can vary in hair, usually what is best suited of the species). Their eyes also change, a light velvet with white pupils for water, pure black with white pupils for earth, variety of colors with 3 rings and black pupils for fire and can also change color, space can vary in color due to emotion and have white pupils, and finally nature, variety shade of pinks with either black or white pupils (full elemental can vary). • Elderly 2500-3000 ect: as they get older their hair becomes regular hair, slowly going back to white, their abilities weaken. The closer they r too death the weaker they are. Once they die a huge blast of whatever power they had left finally disappears become one with planet.

Culture:

Auroran are a species that value life and community. But it also values strength, the strongest are those whose abilities are unmatched.

The adults let the children be children before asking them to work to gain experience in teamwork and bonding once they have matured enough. They also go to their chief the leader the descendents of the founder, and learn of their culture and traditions for they need it once they become adults. Children are to be treasured and prioritized for they are our next generation. The entire planet value trading and exchange as currency.

• The ritual:

• Before they turn 18, they must travel to the tallest mountain with the crystals that's surrounds the platform and a circular and colorful gemstones that centers in the top. Usually families, and close friends travel with the soon to be adult auroran, but half the community comes with to be a witness of the event (also to be sure it isn't an full elemental). When daylight finally enters and hits the the gemstone it shines on the auroran which triggers their abilities to arrive. Once it is done, congratulations are spread to the now adult and family. They return back home and the entire community celebrates the auroran. Feast is made with beautiful decorations in the center of their town, where they dance and drink away the night with music that plays loudly. Performances of other aurorans are displayed as well.

• A month is then used to train the auroran with an elder of said ability in honing their skills, focus, mental and emotional state being key when doing so.

• The next day after the last day of the training, they will battle with the other aurorans of the same ability and fight in a fighting ring. This will establish their strength, and every 5 years they will come back to see if the status has change. It also values to see if they can do a certain job. Experience is nothing compared to that of raw power. Usually the weaker ones go first. Who ever leaves the ring is the looser crowing the opponent the victor. It only ends when the auroran either is unable to fight or looses

• There are 5 titles given when evaluating strength.

•  Pep :1st stage weak

• Pan : 2nd stage mediocre

• Res: 3rd stage neutral

• Ful : 4th stage strong

• Caf: 5th stage powerful

• Depending on the rank they will work in minor jobs that are normal, such as housekeeping, chefs, farmers ect

• The stronger they are they aid in construction, fishing or mining or medicine

• The strongest gain the full authority in traiding with other alien species that arrive here, negotiations, and other political events from other tribes or alien species.

• The caf are the only rank that are able to do braids and wear gold to show their status. Especially the children so others may know that their is a lineage, it usually stays the same since it is difficult to defeat them. They also never leave the tribe.

• Dating and marrige: when aurorans are prepared to start dating usually around their Adulthood, it is best to find those with the same status tho it isn't strange of the gap rank is bigger, love is love no matter the rank (altho the caf prefer to set ther children with Ful's to continue the strength)

• Aurorans mate for life it is very rare for there to be a re-marrige unless the other auroran died.

• When they fine someone they desire they will give the auroran of interest a gift, when presented the auroran can either reject or accept. If rejected the dejected auroran must find another who will accept them. If accepted the two will see eachother and exchange gifts, as well as date and learn of eachothers family and history, if they are satisfied and content in happiness they can discuss marriage. It is important that the two are in full agreement of thos commitment, if either party is still uncertain then they'll continue on their dating status, or if the two are no longer interested with one another they may move on to someone else and start again.

• When both parties agree on marriage the two will seek the parents approval and they would be given a token to wear at the ceremony. The entire community will aid in the planning, setting the town beautifully. Usually taking a month to set up. The couple would wear traditional clothing walking along side together as they walk  with one of their arms bind together with soft silk like rope. As they enter the center of town the chief will then tie the other arms to be together. Then give the two their own made rings the two exchanging it. Then the leader will sing and display their ability surrounding them and giving them their blessing. Once it's settled the two would kiss to seal their union. Afterwards feast and music happens and dancing. The newlyweds would then do a choreograph dance, the two never touching as they also display teor abilities and having it mix with eachother till they finally stop once they grasp eachothers hand to show their union. Afterwards they prepare to leave, their town saying good bye to friends and family and head to another tribe to settle down in

• Family + Community:

•  Once they settle in the new tribe they socialize with their new community and follow their culture and traditions (there are tribes that live in trees, by the waters, the fields or the mountains)

• When they talk to the leader of the tribe and establish their rank, they will be assign a job.

• Once everything has settled, if they desire to have children, the two discuss who will carry the child, and once set in stone they mate.

• It takes a year before the child is born. Aurorans are only able to have one child in their lifetime. So the two will protect their child till the end or once they leave. Both parents raise and care for their child, each taking turns in raising them.

• Religious belief :

• There is a reason why the ritual is common. They believe in gods that gave them these abilities. There are 5 gods, the representation of fire, earth, water, nature, and space. Space being the leader, followed by the elementals the triplets and the young nature God. Each having a statue of the gods as well as a small bowl to give gifts as thank yous.

• The story:

• There was single god, alone in vast of darkness the only light being it. It decided to create a universe filled with beauty. So it created planets of all shapes and sizes, stars with various colors surrounded in clouds to let it give birth of light. This leading to various galaxies that painted the dark canvas it leaved. Due to what the space God created, it lead to the creation of the triplets, fire that blind and burned you if you were to near it but so much warmth and kindness it gives, so much love to give. Earth god, the very fabric of dust, stone, minerals, the very ground you walk on. It aids in providing so much physically but also a graceful beauty as it shines with a variety of colors due to gems it has. It is something tht will soon give life but for now it is just an assistant. Always tough and realistic. Water the source of liquid that will lead to life. It is the most calm of the triplets, but easy to anger when it isn't still. The very thing that can be kind but also cruel due to the freezing ice and snow non the less it is beautiful. The space God was happy to have more company and so forth all 4 traveld the universe seeing the beauty as well as assistance. This led to the final God being made. Nature, it was covered in so much greenery as well as flowers. They are the most kindness yet cruel if needed.  All the gods were happy to have eachother, all exploring and discovering something. This led to the creation of alien species, especially the aurorans. Which the gods favor, and due to that the gods have granted the aurorans 5 different abilities. Each happy to have one and aiding eachother when needed.

• The legend: there was once an auroran who was weak and easily ill. It desire to be strong, but was very Impatient and greedy. The auroran decided to trick the triplets into giving them all 3 of their power. The auroran would completely cut their hair, as well as appear to be blind by covering their face with wrappers to not show their ability  they received from the gods. The single auroran went to the fire god 1st

• "My dear fe, bringer of light and warmth I ask of you to give me a bit of your power for I'm a weak and ill auroran, and I desire to at least be strong enough to aid my fellow auroras and not be a burden."

• The fire god showed pity to the auroran and with kindness it agreed "very well, your fire will be stronger than any of the others, you will be able to aid your people with this warmth." The God gave a piece of it's fire for the auroran to swallow. They gave their thanks and fake as they leave to "aid their tribe". Only for them to head towards the water god.

• "Dear and beautiful Wu, I desire to give life to my community, for I am a blind fool who falls once illness hits. Please give me your power so I no longer feel useless"

• The water god sighed and look at the auroran with pity. "Every member is a value when surviving. Very well ill give you my power. You will be stronger than any other, and have the most freezing and sharpness of ice. Use this to aid ur tribe in the winter or storms." It formed a single ball of water and the auroran drank it.

• Once thanking the God it went to the earth god. It ran to the God and sobbed, "Ti, I'm blind auroran, hit by an illness that caused this. I have used my ears to sense everything around me but I feel useless for I cannot do much without my sight, please help me be useful to my tribe.

• The earth god laughs "u are not useless, for you are part of a caring community to still care for you. But I will aid you! You will be stronger and durable than anyone, as well as having the ability to sens your surroundings with every step as if you were seeing with your very own eyes" with that it gave them a pebble to swallow.

• The auroran smiled and thank the God before heading back home. What the gods have done was not their fault but the auroran for being greedy. The auroran couldn't handle its ability as they rest an let it settle. It was too much even for them. It has caused a explosion. Destroying everything in its path, the auroran was no more, a creature of pure destruction was born. Everyone faught it, trying to keep it abbay but failed. Till the gods arrived the elementals felt guilt and anger at the auroran, but the God of space only felt anger. With all its might it trap the vial creature in a bubble asking the other gods to assist in crushing the once auroran. It's screamed in agony till it stop, they became nothing but the very this it was made from, a circular matter filled with gemstones and minerals.

• The gods place it at the highest peak of the mountain all of them creating a beautiful sanctuary as they place the gemstone in the center.

• Once they returned the God of space said this "we will no longer be with you all for what has happened. From now on you must travel to the mountain and wait till Adulthood to gain ur powers. It will choose for you. But be warned. It is still in there, it will continue to give powers even if it's gone. If anyone shows to have more than one elemental than do what you must, but know this, it will go back in the gemstone and the cycle will continue. This is your punishment" with that the God of space left. The triples apologize n left. The God of nature, with much sadness said goodbye not before giving us one gift. "I will give this ability I took from ces, the ability to travel. It is rare for any to gain space but I will make sure that you can harvest the crystals to travel up the mountain to gain your abilities" with its last goodbye it left.

• Non of the gods appeared again the tribe rebuilt. The days becoming lonesome but we must do what they said and prepare and move on.

• The trade of Teleportation and space politics:

• The planet has the unique trait. It is able to create crystals that have the ability to teleport to an area. The bigger they are the stronger and longer the lifespan. Though only the aurorans know when to harvest it.

• Due the galactic protecters and order have discovered them and their species the leaders and Caf discuss amongs themself and the leader of the organization. They all agreed to ship their crystals so long as the protect their home from any invaders.

• The planet become a bit of a tourist site, with occasional trading on not only crystals but other goods they give. Though it is illegal to live there due to aurorans being very closed off from others and prefer to keep to themself and the deal with GPAO.

• The tour is more of a cultural or camping experience, a small getaway. There's only two ports in the entire planet.

The Handsome Hagfish

Hagfish, of the family Myxini, are a group of 75 jawless fish species that reside in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. Although they are vertebrates, they are the only known animals that have a vertebral column but no skull. Many scientists consider them to be an evolutionary descendant of the ‘stepping stone’ between fish with and without jaws. Their evolution and juvenile development has been the subject of much study, trying to determine the pathway of the evolution of jaws, skulls, and eyes in vertebrates.

Although they are sometimes mistaken for eels, hagfish have many easy-to-distinguish physical differences. For one, hagfish have a skeleton made of cartilage while eels have a harder bone skeleton. Secondly, Myxini species have open holes for gills rather than the slits more characteristic of eels and fish, and can also breathe through their skin if needed. Lastly, hagfish have no eyes or identifiable jaws; rather, their mouths are made of several protruding barbs and a set of horizontal cartilaginous structures that can expand outward. The main resemblance to eels is the body structure: hagfish have long flexible bodies and a paddle-like tail suited for smooth swimming. Hagfish species can be anywhere from 18 to 127 cm long, although the average length is around 50 cm, and their colors can range from pink to dark blue to brown.

Like eels, little is known about hagfish reproduction. The mating process in particular is a mystery, although females will lay eggs year round. Eggs are laid in batches of 30-40, and can take up to 11 months to hatch-- longer than many other jawless vertebrates. Freshly hatched hagfish are precocial, meaning they require no parental care or supervision. It is not known how long Myxini species age before they are sexually mature; however, it’s generally believed that they grow reproductive organs at around 35 cm. Evidence indicates that they are a hermaphroditic group. This means that at some point in their lives, hagfish change their sex from male to female or vice versa.

Outside of mating, hagfish are solitary. They are benthic animals, spending most of their time at the bottom of the ocean. They feed mainly on polychete marine worms, although carcasses like whales are famous for drawing massive aggregations of hagfish. When presented with large meals, hagfish will burrow inside the body and consume it from the inside out. However, they only exhibit this behavior on dead or dying animals, and generally only prey on living creatures smaller than themselves. Myxini species can survive for months between feedings, as do many benthic animals. Similarly, hagfish are nocturnal and hide in burrows of mud on the ocean floor.

Hagfish are preyed upon by many different animals, including sharks and harbor seals. To evade predation, they can twist themselves into complex knots or-- perhaps most famously-- produce large amounts of slime. This slime, or mucus, is produced from glands along the hagfish’s body. It’s protein-based and made of thick filaments that, when combined with salt water, expand into a thick membrane that doesn’t dissolve or dry out. The amount of slime produced seems only dependent on how much water is available and how long the hagfish perceives a threat. If ingested, the slime can choke a potential predator or clog its gills, giving the hagfish ample time to escape.

Conservation status: Hagfish are fairly common throughout the ocean, although some species are threatened. Although they are part of human diets in some countires, the main threat comes from the lack of food available; as larger marine fauna like whales and sharks disappear, the amount of carcasses for Hagfish to feed on also diminishes.
