IkeVamp Drake (anng's version)
AKA me getting so pissy on personal about how he isn't kissed by the sun and sea that I decided to give him a tan myself, among other things. But I kept his hair style (slightly) and eye colour.
I just think, in my less than humble opinion, that if they're going to stick a notorious privateer into the game and make him drop a tone of seafaring references then his design should make my timbers shiver and every one of his spicy premium stories should have MC say that his beard tickles the inside of her thighs. And I just don't think White Haired Anime Boy #3 is gonna do that.
#IkeVamp Drake#IkeVamp#Ikemen Vampire#Ikemen Series#Cybird Ikemen Series#le art tag#if you follow me on my personal you might've seen me scream *at length* about how much I dislike his original character design.#stepping out of Ikemen retirement out of sheer rage. It's THAT bad. So far I do like the writing of his route though.#but like WHY are there now FOUR (4) White Haired Anime Boys running around in IkeVamp. One was enough. And I love Mozart's design.#Drake and Galileo are so derivative of him it's actually insane. Their designs look like someone tore him in half and then let them grow ou#I screamed about how much I hate that there is little shape variation in addition to the lack of colour variation between the 3 of them.#they ALL have longer white hair parted on the side. ALL OF THEM. WHAT ARE YOU??? TARGARYNS??????????#then they ALL have pale skin. Drake is the last one who should look like he never gets any sun. He should be getting the MOST fucking sun#then his one shoulder patterned cape is reminiscent of Napoleon (so: derivative) when his storyline so far#IS ALSO PAINFULLY SIMILAR. DO YOU SEE WHERE MY BLOOD PRESSURE RISES TO LEVELS NOT KNOWN TO MAN#I haven't even brought up how his faces on his sprites are all EERILY similar to Arthur's. I know yamasensei draws very anime style but#the expressions are *almost* a perfect one-to-one#on another note I sat down and did this in a day. which is rare for me. admittedly it's just a bust shot but it was enjoyable.#and I genuinely like how it turned out even though it's really simple#like... *I* think he looks handsome. But he also bears all the things I love in a man from a period drama so 👉👈#my own personal bodice ripper male lead 👉👈

Final fitting of the dress before sewing it up.

There are a million pins but it is pinned along the sewing lines so that's not an issue. I wanted to make sure the hems were all in the right place.
I'm also very pleased with the sleeves

Again, just pinned, and not gathered down properly, but they are exactly what she wanted.
And the bottom of the bodice will have piping

While the top will have a berthe that will be kinda like this

And if we have time, there will be a bonnet that matches.
This has been a 2 year project and I have learned so much!
#this is my life#1860s prom dress#she designed it#a friend drafted the bodice pattern#i just sew and problem solve

snoopy blue-eyed person stare
Snoopy #87
27/12/2024
#peanuts#snoopy#art#87#those aren't stink lines that's his AURA okay?#i don't think snoopy actually has blue eyes because he is a beagle which is a brown eyed dog#anyway why is this kinda... jack zimmermann (and alicia). like omgggg this beagle is a stanley cup champion?! go falcs??????#this is like that one ep of phineas and ferb when candace ended up in perry's body and to show that it was candace they gave it her eyes#so it was like a perry body with candace eyes. this is like if snoopy and jack zimmermann did a bodyswap and to show this to the audience#i gave snoopy jack's eyes. or really insert-your-fave-blue-eyes-person-or-character-here's eyes. boone from lost/phil lester/saoirse ronan#actually i think this is a common visual trope that happens in many things not just pnf#also sorry if this is a microaggression against blue eyed people. love you all really <3#but i was thinking of ian somerhalder and siberian huskies and that one drawing/meme of the blue eyed person stare#u know. the one with the smirk and the crossed arms#tbh i've been obsessively working on something else so not much time for drawing :(#anyway....... if you've ever thought about making a bodice block. don't. pick up a different hobby instead.#and if anyone knows how to reduce the width of a dart in a sewing pattern please please pleaseeee let me know how LOL (crying)#i don't think these tags ever appeal to anyone else but also who reads this far? this is my diary now.

Basic cutting instructions for this issue's bodice.
Fancy bodice, velvet lapel and excess fabric trimmed with lace picots. New balloon sleeve with five seams, covered with a lace picot and gathered under a velvet barrette. Basques forming three round pleats, worn under a velvet belt. Lace jabot front, turn-down collar in velvet trimmed with picot lace. This bodice requires more attention to its fit, due to the different patterns that must be used for the lining or for the bodice itself. The lining pattern consists of five pieces. (A) Front with two darts. (B) Short side of the front (C), short side of the back. (D) front, and (E) back of the sleeve. All these pieces, which must be cut double, form the bottom lining. Bodice itself: (1) Front with a dart. The notch of the hem must relate to the notch of the front (A) of the lining and indicates where the sleeve seam bleed should be placed. (2) Flat back in one piece, should only be cut once, the dotted line indicates the middle of the back. The sleeve consists of two pieces. (3) Sleeve, pointed sleeve bottom on top of the sleeve. (4) Bouffant of the sleeve placed in the empty square of piece (3). The dotted lines indicate the line where the picot lace should be sewn. The bottom of piece (4) must be gathered enough to fit into the hollow of the sleeve of pattern (3). The seam which brings these two parts together is hidden by pattern (7). Small biased strip of velvet garnished with two bolts. (5) Backhand. The dotted line indicates the fold of the reverse. Place the velvet one centimeter from the edge, as indicated by the ++ in the pattern, to form a fabric overhang. (6) 3-ply peplums. The back and front are indicated on the pattern. (7) Biased strip of velvet serving as trim on the sleeve and mentioned above. (8) Velvet turn-down collar, to be made similar to lapel (5) with protruding fabric. The dotted line indicates the middle of the collar. The front of the bodice is a lace bouffant with ribbon bow and sits over the small collar of the lining bodice.

a further look at the rest of my fanseasons
as i was pulling up images for justice, paradise, and lune last night i came across a bunch of images for my other fanseasons. figured i might as well share them so people can see what they look like as well (at at the very least the prototype ones since i don't have accessible traditional art for most of them curse you past justie for not taking photos!)
shining hearts:
here's the first image of cure harmony, dated december 16 2018. done in the glitter cure maker
from that same day, the prototype for cure sunburst, cure elemental. i didn't feel like making up an entirely new character at the time though and i was already using an older oc for cure harmony so i was like "i'll just take another one of my mlp ocs" (which was sunburst) so elemental ended up being shoved to the side
from june 2019, the team in the happiness charge character creator by hapuriainen (i hope i spelled that right) on deviantart! this was another one of my favorite character creators, and provided the basis for many a cure design before glitter cure came out on dolldivine
we now have cure harmony (pink), cure sunburst (orange), and their midseason, cure spark (green)
time to fast forward, since we have now hit the era of the Precure Art Drought. the next time i drew any of them was cure harmony in january 2022, as one of the ms paint base pieces i did:
base is cure happy by selenaede.
and then we have her again in january 2023, as part of the star twinkle trace that showed up in the paradise & lune post
harmony is in the foreground. her bangs are fluffier now but this is largely the design i've stuck with for her ever since. the blue in her hair is a reference to her days as a my little pony oc - she started out as a pink unicorn with fluffy pink hair and then i got into an argument with one of my online friends over if she looked too much like pinkie pie or not so i added the blue streak to differentiate her
and from january 2024, here's all on them on their second ost cover!
mermaid jewel:
their first appearance, done in the happiness charge character creator in july 2019. left to right is splash, ocean, coral, shell, anemone.
unfortunately, none of them ever got individual glitter cure versions and aside from splash i don't draw them very often (and even with splash it's usually her in her civ form). i do have a drawing of splash in a photo of a draw the squad from 2022 (i believe it was 2022 i took the photo a long time after i drew it). i love draw the squads. i should do another one it's been way too long
borealis is in this one as well, right next to splash (splash is on the right in green, borealis is the blue one), which is a nice segue into our next fanseason
northern lights precure:
as mentioned before, northern lights actually predates the others (aside from moderation) by quite some time! i think what happened was i made them for fun, then forgot about them to focus on moderation again, and then dug them back out once i started making other fanseasons. this image is dated january 27, 2018. left to right we have aurora, shimmer, borealis, and glow
i really liked borealis's design, so she's actually got a few art pieces (unlike the others, who still sadly don't have solidified cure designs aside from their hair)
an in-progress borealis, done the same day as the character creator. i also tried making her a puzzlun cure card but i don't have a photo.
theatrical:
my beloved hacha creator shows up again. this is dated july 11, 2018, which is a lot older than i initially thought it was. theatrical was another one of those "create a team based around aesthetic and designs i think look neat and then do nothing with them afterwards until i shoved them into a lineup once i realized how many fanseasons i was piling up". this one does feature their civilian forms, which is unique! left is cure curtain and the right is cure spotlight. they stay a duo
desert sun:
poor desert sun didn't even get a character creator image. they have finalized civilian designs but not cure designs. the closest i can offer are these:
prototype hairstyle designs from march 2022
more finalized designs from a super smash bros (but it's my precures) character select screen thing i did in april 2024
supernatural:
supernatural has the same problem in that i didn't ever make a character creator thing with the full team. i think the first time they show up visually is from that same hairstyle piece as desert sun:
i unfortunately don't have a photo of moth from this set. she was on the next page. the reason this photo exists at all is because i sent it to myself as a reference for that super smash bros but precure thing, so i could use it as a reference for the hair of the cure i was drawing or go "oh that's kind of ugly actually" and create a new hairstyle. unfortunately for moth, she was on a page that only had 2 other cures and i have hers + those 2 other cures' hairstyles memorized so i didn't bother sending myself the reference
in april 2023, i tried making ghost in the glitter cure maker
and witch a few days later. no cryptid or moth, i think i lost steam after this
BUT they all have traditional art refs from around the same time. which i don't have with me now, because - say it with me - the sketchbook they're in is at home and i was a dummy who didn't think about taking a photo to make sure she always had the references with her even if she couldn't access the sketchbook
they do show up in the smash cures character select!
bonus: modpre in the hacha character creator from july 2018 because at the time no cure was immune to being made in it. i found this while searching for everything else. i'd completely forgotten about it
#splash shows up a lot in my sketchbook in her civ form#because she's a massive hater (affectionate) and so she gets a lot of the more aggressive incorrect quotes i find#you can always Tell when a cure team of mine originated in the hacha creator LMAO#their bodices often follow the same design pattern#precure#pretty cure#shining hearts precure#mermaid jewel precure#northern lights precure#theatrical precure#desert sun precure#supernatural precure#justie's fanseasons#justie attempts art#long post#not all of these are finalized. it has been 5 years and i am still trying to figure out a cure cryptid design

#finally sewed a muslin of the dress i was planning to use my coveted green linen on and it looks terrible on me aaaaaa#i would have had just enough yardage to make it too... sigh back to the drawing board i guess#i think the problem is my bust is just too big for the style 🥲#this one especially bc it also makes the shoulders look narrower which with a big bust just throws all the proportions off#i think i'd have to size up like 3 sizes Or draft a new version with wider shoulders/bodice#and i already had corrections to make to the rest of the pattern so at this point i'd rather just search for a new pattern entirely 😭

Do I need more clothes? No, probably not.

But I've got all these squares now. And I did math and adjusted my skirt pattern. And the bodice pieces are already cut out.

And, and... I would have to turn these into an actual quilt if I don't, and I'm pretty much out of materials to do that.
#sewing#patchwork#quilting? probably not#it's gonna beeeee#the Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated for the bodice#with the back elastic hack and a 3/4 sleeve minus the cuff#Salix Skirt by Unendlich Schön#lengthened to 80 cm and reduced to 3/4#with that pocket mod I did on my last blue dress#patchwork/quilt pattern is Spiny Peaks by Modafabrics#fabric is a mix of leftovers from mostly bedsheets and a little bit of ikea linen and white calico cotton#yes another dress#sometimes adaptive clothing is wearing house dresses wherever#no ibs issues no sensory issues no trying to be office appropriate through morning brain fog#i technically maybe have enough backing fabric#but I don't have batting and no batting money#so flat lined skirt it shall be#trust issues dress

combined two of my dresses and some other things to make a new costume for a fantasy art exhibition opening
#jordan talks#my face#my costumes#the blue was an outer dress from a renaissance gamurra .#and the yellow is based on 3 artemisia gentileschi paintings (early 17th century)#so i call it my artemisia dress#the belt is covering up the fact that they have very different waistlines lmfao#made the veil out of a vintage nightgown i bought yearsss ago and rarely use for anything. except art lmfao#(it doesnt technically fit over my bust)#my idea was like. western fantasy is always a mishmash of random medieval-early modern european fashions#so what better way to represent that than to combine medieval (hairstyle/head covering) renaissance and baroque lol.#plus some modern jewelry and belt. i thrifted that thing the other day lol#the renaissance dress is the first thing i EVER finished#i used a pattern that like had the underskirt attached ?#i kinda hate that . I seam ripped it off and resewed the bodice on the inside#i love the blue/teal with the yellow here i really prefer it to the color combo i had before#this ALSO means.#that i can make interchangeable skirts + stomachers to use with this outer dress#+ make more outer dresses I bought some fabric a month or so explicitly for that purpose#anyways it was just nice to wear these somewhere like i put so much time into them

Trying out padstitching for the first time and it’s not pretty but it’s very functional. This will get completely hidden in the end anyway, so it just needs to get the job done.
#this bodice is going to fit sooo nice and smooth but sadly won’t be reversible#bc the padstitching makes it really want to curve in one specific direction#and yes my fabric has a pattern of squirrels and pinecones#i also need to get some yellow fabric for the skirt#and some sort of floppy blue fabric for sleeves

Day 7 of Fighting Dystopia (Bonus Round!)
I finished up some much needed repairs on my renaissance festival costume. I've been wearing my bodice around the house as lounge wear because its so comfortable and it needed a new closure and some repairs where the fabric was fraying. It lives to see another day and I don't need to buy any new lounge clothes.
#it brings me so much joy that this bodice functions as its historical counterparts would have#and its nice to be able to use it for its intended purpose outside of costume use#if anyone is curious its the kirtle bodice pattern from#The Tudor Tailor#you can check the book out of your local library if it available and copy the pattern out of it onto old newspaper so its accessible#even if you can't buy the book or the pattern from the authors#so anyway...#the world feels like its going to shit#so this is an exercise in making a difference where you can#appreciating what we have#and not catastrophising#inspired by the solar punk genre and building a new world from the community up#if anyone sees this feel free to join in#hopepunk#solarpunk#day x of fighting dystopia#positivity

possibly add more appliques to front? screencaps are inconclusive so this will be time-dependent

bodice & belt ✅
yeah still gotta do these but hopefully I can knock them out tomorrow
choker ✅
sand and paint pendant
seal
assemble
I'm out of town next weekend, so I'd really like this whole thing to be finished by thursday 😖
#it's absolutely possible! the biggest item left is the bodice#which is honestly a super simple pattern so im hoping it will only take a few hours#yennifer cosplay#estelcosplays
