I’ve been seeing quite a lot of bangles lately— on tik Tok, Pinterest and IRL. But hands down, my favorite way of seeing this accessory interpreted is into the bohomian aesthetic. Like how it was done in the early 2000s and 2010s boho-chic eras, devoured this style.

Dressing your Character for Summer
Tumblr media
Summer can be a hard season to dress for, but there are a few reliable ways to dress for sweltering heat and humidity.
Fashion Tips for Styling Summer Outfits
Wear light-colored clothing. Choose light colors and white dresses and button-down shirts, which reflect, rather than absorb, the sun's rays.
Opt for sleeveless or loose sleeves. When it comes to summer clothes, the goal is to have as much airflow as possible. You don't have to go fully strapless, but consider sleeveless camis and off-shoulder or puff-sleeve blouses. Short-sleeve button-ups are another good option.
Stay away from tight clothing. Loose-fitting clothing is your best bet for staying cool in the summer. Go for cropped, wide-leg pants, loose shirts, oversize blouses, and dresses and skirts with room to breathe.
Upgrade your athleisure. Technical fabrics are typically moisture-wicking, but they’re also tight, which isn’t always great for summer. If you're a fan of athleisure, swap your usual black leggings and sweatshirt for colorful bike shorts and tank tops or short-sleeve crop tops.
Choose breathable fabrics. It may not matter during the rest of the year, but you’ll definitely notice the difference between breathable fabrics and fabrics that trap moisture during the summer. Synthetics usually aren’t breathable, so check clothing labels to make sure your clothes are 100 percent linen, cotton, or silk. If you want to play with texture, try eyelet and seersucker.
Ditch jeans. Denim is one of the heaviest fabrics. If you wear stretch jeans or skinny jeans, you may find them too warm for your summer style. Look for lightweight cotton or linen pants instead. If you must wear denim, opt for wide-leg jeans, which still allow for some air circulation.
Rely on dresses. Dresses aren’t just for special occasions. A comfy summer dress is an easy option for days when you don’t know what to wear. Summer is the perfect time to bring out your minidresses, rompers, and miniskirts, but it’s okay to go longer, too. For a boho summer look, opt for a sleeveless maxi dress or long skirt. A tie-front dress can give you a little extra air circulation.
Wear leather sandals. Flip-flops are great for going to the beach, but to dress up your look, opt for strappy sandals or espadrilles, which still let your toes breathe. Leather sandals come in comfortable options that will look more stylish than the standard foam flip-flops.
Minimize accessories. Lots of dangling necklaces or bangles can stick to your skin in the heat. Choose one statement accessory, like hoop earrings.
How to Dress for Work in Summer
You still need to look professional at the office during the summertime, while prioritizing clothing that keeps you cool.
Stick to light colors. Workwear typically comes in dark colors like black and navy. For summer, try light colors instead: a white linen blazer, seersucker suit, or light blue button-up shirt.
Dress in layers. If your office has air conditioning, layering will be a big part of your summer fashion vibe. A cotton cardigan is a great option for those days when you need to go from a hot train to a cold office.
Try a one-piece garment. Separates can get very warm in the summer. Instead, try a work-appropriate one-piece, like a jumpsuit or wrap dress.
Wear closed-toe shoes. Even if flip-flops are your go-to outside the office, you should still wear closed-toe shoes in the office. Try loafers or flats with moisture-wicking no-show socks.
How to Dress for the Beach in Summer
Summer is the season for going to the beach, and there are a few things to consider when choosing what to wear.
Buy your swimsuit early. Swimwear can be one of the hardest clothing items to shop for, so give yourself plenty of time to browse. Choose something comfortable that you can actually swim in.
You don’t need to buy a dedicated beach cover-up. Unless you’re totally in love with your beach cover-up, you can repurpose other items of clothing to cover your swimsuit. An oversize white button-up shirt is a great beach cover-up that can double as a mini shirtdress. A lightweight dress is another great option, or pair a bikini top with a skirt.
Protect your skin. Keep sunscreen and a hat in your beach tote so you're always prepared. Choose a sun hat that you actually like, so you won’t be tempted to leave it at home.
Wear materials other than denim. Tight denim cutoffs might be a cute beach look, but soaking wet, sandy denim shorts are uncomfortable. Opt for something more breathable, like Bermuda shorts.

new 2025 fashion prediction!
is february to late to be making fashion predictions for this year? maybe! but who cares! recently i have seen bangle bracelets trending- and i am in LOVE! from 70s/80s funky and chunky, 2020s simple gold and silver stacks, i think it’s time to bring the medieval revival to jewelry!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
vintage, big, eclectic, bejeweled, unique pieces stacked high up on the arms with mixed metals and styles all mushed together to create a truly medieval royal look!
along with bangles i see arm cuffs being a huge thing this summer, but more “medieval” than boho like the a la the 2010s! i think Ancient Greece will also be a huge historical pulling point for fashion this coming spring/summer, i personally cannot wait to see how that translates!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i keep using the words “funky” and “eclectic” to describe this new medieval revival as i see so much inspiration being pulled from all over- different eras of history, fantasy, styles, etc but it’s all under the same “medieval” aesthetic! i see wood tones being a huge trend in accessories this year too!

Making desi aesthetics, pt. 1
So, me and @zeherili-ankhein were discussing about the lack of diversity in Indian aesthetics. Like, the in-general aesthetic for the brown crowd is "desi core", at leas the one that is extremely popular, and it just feels...generalized stuff? Like, chai, lehengas, bollywood films...?
Ofc, no hate to desicore, but I just feel that for a country as diverse as India, we should have more aesthetics, yk? So, I kinda made some basic aesthetics for girls, with the help of my sweetu santra @zeherili-ankhein , and I really, really wanna hear y'all's inputs in this.
The first is the Rajasthani aesthetic. Now this makes up a HUGEEE chunk of desi core, tbh. Like in clothing, it can include Lehengas, the typical Rajputi poshak, bandhani sarees etc, with rajasthani prints like gotapatti and all. For daily use, like, I think angarakha kurtis, paired with palazzos will look VERY nice. Dupattas with bandhani prints too. For a more modern look, pencil skirts and fitted jeans will look good, i think. With v-neck tops??? Also, boots.
This aesthetic was deep jewel colors, like ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green etc., with gold accents. Bold chunky jewelry + local Rajasthani jewelry will look very nice too. For makeup, I think bold kohl eyes and dark red/brown lipstick shades will be really pretty.
The second is inspired by the Mughal paintings. Dresses include flowy kurtis and dresses especially anarkalis, ghararas and shararas, and flowy dupattas. In modern dresses, flowy sundresses, heart-neck tops and long skirts will look so cute omg. Kurtis can be paired with palazzos. Traditional clothes can have zari work done. Also flats or block heels will look v v good.
This includes pastels shades, like various shades of pink, cream, ivory, blue, lavender, mint green, etc. In jewelry, I think silver and pearls will suit this aesthetic. This has a light makeup look, with blush plus light pink/nude lipstick shades.
Third is the Vrindavan aesthetic, this mostly focuses on Krishna. It is like, nature inspired, is prett fresh, and gives you the vibe of an old temple. Jewelry involving peacock and lotus motifs will suit very well, along with flower prints. The fabric is mostly cotton, and the colors include orange, yellow, lotus pink, soft blues, white etc.
This aesthetic is pretty relaxed, and as for dresses, I think loose kurtis, wide trousers, cardigans and crochet tops will look v cutu :> Accessories mein, simple sandals, hairbands, cute necklaces and tiny earrings will look so, so pretty. Also bangles and payals>>>>
The last one for this part is more inspired from the earth. It has more earthy tones, colors like deep reds, mustard yells, olive green, brown etc etc. Fabrics include cotton and khadi, and this aesthetic has a rustic and boho-ish vibe, i think. Prints are block prints (ily block prints uwu)
I think long coats would really suit this aesthetic? And idk why but TURTLENECKS TOO OMG. For jewelry, I think vintage and oxidized jewelry will look very good, especially nose pins.
What do you all think? I have four more aesthetics left, will post them in part 2, one is bollywood inspired, one is related to classical dance, one is more eastern indian (bengal-odisha) and then the last is south indian. This is js the basic draft I made of these aesthetics

College fits: the desi version
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kurtis
Starting of with the very basic indo-western outfit: Kurtis. Now, you can wear knee length or short-length kurtis, whatever your prefer.
First of all, please, for the love of god, don't go for those cheap chikankari kurtis or those 'kashmiri embroidered' kurtis. It's disrespecting to the real chikankari and kashmiri embroidered work and secondly, its tacky atp.
Go for normal, printed or plain kurtis. I would say thin straps, or cut-sleeves kurtis cause they feel more girlish and more appropriate for college. If you are insecure about your arms then you can go quarter length and full length too. You can buy good and cheap ones from zudio or myntra.
You can pair your kurtis with shorts, jeans or skirts. Your jeans could be linen, wide -legged, cargos, etc. Avoid skinny jeans or ripped jeans.
Personally, I love to wear short kurtis with baggy cargos. I wear boots cause I love that edgy aesthetic. It's OP for me. I live for that fit.
Skirts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, if you want to wear those long flowy skirts, you can just pair them with any normal top of your choice. Additonally, you can wear a duppatta as a scarf and go for the whole Ananya from 2 states look.
You can also wear those really big shararas that almost look like skirts. But daily wear dividers/ shararas are a bit hard to find. You would have to get them stitched only.
Nowadays, a lot of of other sort of traditional skirts are also coming. Wrap around skirts, pencil skirts, short skirts, etc. You can find them easily online. Again, pair them with your normal tops.
If you don't like those traditional skirts/ ghagras you can also opt for those trending maxi skirts. Pair them with jhumkas, duppatta and a boho tote bag and you are good to go!
Shirts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okayyy so printed shirts are my favorite.
You can just wear the shirts with the bottom of your choice. Even with skirts. You saw Katrina Kaif in Fitoor. Take inspiration.
If skirts aren't your thing,I would personally suggest linen pants. Looks amazing.
The other option is ofcourse wearing your shirts as shrugs over your outfits. Avoid buying those full length shrugs and wearing them over jeans and top. It doesn't look elegant.
Random
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pathani kurtas on women>> Yes, I mean those short linen material kurtas that men wear. Feels androgynous and I love them alot.
If you have some pretty duppattas and scarfs, you can wear them as tops.
You can also wear those patiala pants like geet from jab we met. They are really comfortable and I feel not as normalized in your indo-western style too. So you can have your own unique style by experimenting with them. You can buy the plain color patiala pants and pair it with cute fitted strappy tops. Complete the look with punjabi jootis.
You can also just wear duppattas over your normal western outfits too. Maybe or maybe not add jhumkas according to the outfit. Add a totebag and voila! the simplest indo-western outfit out there.
Vests! I live for vests. Vests add color to my outfit in the simplest way possible. it's chic, it's elegant and ots perfect for when you have interviews or jury if you wear them the right way.
There are endless possibilites with the indo-western look. It's all upto you- how much you want to experiment. Some of my friends in Nift even wear sarees in indo-western look and go to college wearing that. So, ultimately it's all upto you.
Accessories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like accessories totally determine your look. If you want it to be more party wear types or minimalist- it all depends on the accessories. They totally carry your look.
For the normal days, you can add on chudiyas. Can go for siilver ones, but if you want it to be a bit more dressy, you can buy matching chudiyas.
Accessories matching your outfit>>>> Even if you are wearing silver jwellery, try to match the rest of the things with your outfit. Rubberbands, hair clip, bangles, your shoes, your bag, etc.
Wear jootis when you go indo-western.
I feel like the key for accessories is to not overdo it. Keep it simple. The best part about our desi style is we have a lot of ways to dress up- bindis to payals. For your college fits, you can just go for bindis matching your outfit or the black one, jhumkas and bangles. finish it with a totebag.
When your shoes are visible with an outfit, you can do this. I like to wear boots alot. So, whenever I wear dresses and my boots are visible, I wear payals over them. It looks really cool. 10/10
if you are really into the aesthetic and want to play around, you can also try wearing scarfs as hairbands, silver necklaces as headbands, use earrings as hair ties.
To feel like a desi coquette, you can wear those bowtie hair clips matching the color of your kurta
