your art really inspires me!!! in a few ways. i'm really in love with your use of shapes and lines, its so nice in a really particular way that resonates with how i want my art to be, and its ALSO really inspiring to see you just. post your own ocs and draw them over and over as much as you want, its so cool. at times ive felt a bit weird about how my main creative drive is often just about my little guys that nobody actually knows- but thats the same thing as anyone whose ever written an amazing story, isnt it? freedom and peace and light on planet earth 😌☀️⭐️

But if I'm being honest, and I've mentioned this before, I've also felt weird, embarrassed and guilty about being obsessed with my characters and wanting to draw them over and over again. Somewhere along the line I got really nervous and cautious about sharing any oc content, I didn't want to talk about their lore/stories/backgrounds publicly and I tried to draw them only as a treat between other works. I guess I just thought people were finding them tiring and unrelatable (despite there being no evidence to support that) and that I was being selfish for drawing my own characters so much. I also believed that if I wanted to be a proper artist and develope my skills, I should be making art that looked "frameable", stuff that I could potentially present to people irl. I'm very proud of those pieces but making them didn't feel as creatively and emotionally fulfilling as making character art always is.

Around last May however, after a bad six month art block or so, I just thought I'd be properly self-indulgent for once and draw Machete as much as I liked. Vasco joined him about a month later. And I've been having such good time doodling them, I've been more inspired and productive during this summer and fall than in past five or six years combined. I'm delighted to see how liked they are, and the support and interest they receive continue to fuel my fixation ;_; <3

Instagram is the main media outlet for the people in Gaza, along with tiktok due to the high volume of shares and views. Let’s put our thinking caps on here. I know we all want to help. But the copy and paste asks and suspicious emojis? It’s best to not fall for the traps. Some may be real, but the majority are scammers. And someone had to say it! Let it be me I guess

Islam, a physical therapist, 27-year-old, is living in Gaza without any form of shelter or safety for himself and his family of 6 including his 85 years old grandfather who lost a hand from a prior Israeli bombing, and is barely able to perform everyday tasks due to a lack of clean water to wash his hand with. Their home was demolished by a bombing from the Israeli occupation. While shelter is crucial, they also urgently need food and water. All of their necessities were taken away.

Islam's blog has been restricted for the third time. He tried sharing a donation link, but with limited followers, it wasn't reaching enough people. Thankfully, he created a GoFundMe account, making it easier for those who want to help, but he is still extremely low on funds.

It's actually really difficult to be both a good writer and a good storyteller. (I am not one of those people who is both *at all*.) Sure, you can work on your writing skills, and you can learn more about storytelling craft. But damn, I just don't understand people who naturally have endless stories to tell, understand narrative promise, play with expectations in a fun and satisfying way, leave you wanting more AND whose prose and characterization feel effortless. Kudos, a million kudos.

talk shop tuesday! you mentioned a l&co zombie au, huge fan of this concept and it has so much potetial in l&co setting, im so here for it! could you share a bit more? 👀

heehoo i am sooo excited for this one, both plot and character-wise!!!! if def has a lot of potential in l&co since everyone is kinda already living in an apocalypse so they have the basics down of being prepared to fight, having weapons, etc., but it's been really fun to toy with enemies that don't have set rules/identifiable ways of behaving the same way ghosts do (or if they do, our fearless heroes havent figured it out yet a la the beginning of the problem). i also just love horror media and zombies a lot so it's been really fun to create my own ideal zombie! i like sound-focused zombies and this au has also given me the opportunity to insert some slivers of humanity in them that cut deep when it matters :3c

it's gonna be george-pov (eventual cot3) but george is def my fav character and i really get to dig into his brain and think about his personality and his familial connections and his culture in a way that i haven't done before for another character. i think to have him be at the center of this au, the researcher who needs to know everything who is then thrust into a world where he doesn't know anything and he's desperately trying to find his footing while protecting the people he cares about, is probably the juiciest angle that i could go at this au!!
