6:30a Coyotes yipping & yapping behind our house to the left.

The video of my bone dry neglected back yard doesn't really count as "video". This was about recording the coyote sounds. No visuals of the coyotes. They're somewhere in the brush of the open space land behind us. A mix of chaparral shrubland and grasses.

The coyotes just kept talking and talking and talking. What's funny is that an ambulance drove by on the main road down the hill. You guessed it - the siren totally set them off. At first the siren was louder, but I had to do a double take because I swore that the sirens sounded like a whining animal. As the ambulance got further away, the coyotes continued yipping for at least 10 to 15 minutes maybe.

I took video for about a minute, then hubby and I just sat there, ate breakfast and listened to these little guys yip up a storm.

I've never heard coyotes so close to the house before. A couple lots behind us are vacant and across the street from those lots open space continues up the hill and connects as corridors between several large Open Space Preserves, so we have lots of wildlife. One of our neighbors has even caught a mountain lion on their dash cam several months ago. WHOA! So exciting!

You can also hear a red shouldered hawk in the video. Can't see it, but you can hear it. A pair lives in the grove of eucalyptus trees across the street from us. I have enjoyed listening to them daily since the day we moved in 19 years ago.

I've tagged a few buddies who I think might get a kick out of hearing my morning coffee chatter. Specifically — our beautiful community lives all over the world. I feel strongly that the tiny details of our lives make us the same and make us different, and I love to share those. In fact I'm head over heels anytime someone shares little details of life somewhere else: slice of life details. Imagine Thor one all the same as the movies up until the frost giant battle. Thor's the one who turns blue at the Jotun touch. Loki's the true son and Thor is adopted. How does Thor react? How does Loki respond? To start, Thor is so concerned about what the Jotun touch did to him that he doesn't argue with Odin and get himself banished.

DRABBLE TIME!!!

“You are a wicked little nerd, aren’t you?” Loki delights as she steps in, slipping gloves on.

“I prefer scientist…or researcher.” Lips curl into a smirk. “And don’t get too excited, the only sample my research requires is blood.”

He laughs, but watches her set up with a keen eye. Did S.H.I.E.L.D. honestly think they could get anything from him that he did not wish to give? Oh, what the Hel, he’d play along for the moment. By the time she turns he’s exposed his arm, set it out like a sacrifice.

“Decided to play along?”

“It may well be the only touch I get from a beautiful creature all day,” he muses.

She laughs as she bends to look for a vein…until he fists her hair, twisting until she’s on knees. “Let go.” Her amusement is gone with his; both glare at one another.

“You think you can get blood from a god?” He growls, pulling harder. “One must pay homage to the gods before they may even request such a thing.” Loki leans forward, inches from her face. “What shall you give me, you wicked little nerd?”

Deep breath in, sigh out, and she closes the gap. Presses lips to his and he greedily, aggressively, returns the kiss. It breaks only when he feels a hard jab to his inner thigh. Loki lets her go with a shove towards the floor. There’s no needle to be seen, but vial fills nevertheless.

“You think you’re the only god I’ve ever dealt with?”

Loki’s face goes from enraged to amused in a second. “You fooled me, I’m impressed.”

“Us nerds are a wicked and wily group,” she smirks back.

I guess the main problem in this is that Marvel has never been very consistent with anything, timelines change, alternate universes are created, new directors change the view they have of the storyline...Every director and author brings in something different and changes old facts. Like the age of them, sometimes they are 1000 years ods, then 1500, the 600...Look at Loki powers, in the comic books he can teleport but in the MCU he is rather weak and constantly trapped.

I agree, Marvel is definitely very inconsistent - especially when it comes to the mythology surrounding Thor and Asgard, and yes, especially with Loki’s powers. I’ve gone to Loki’s MCU Wikia page to look things up and found out about powers that he has where I was like, shit, really? Because they were either downplayed or overlooked in the movies. Plus, it’s hard when you have such drastically different writers and directors taking over franchises  - Taika Waititi is so different from Kenneth Branagh, and both are different from Joss Whedon, and so on. Unfortunately it leaves for a lot of logistical canon holes.

I'll take a stab at #s 5 & 7. When it was established early on "We are not gods," I still accepted the titles, but not as actual gods, just as job titles or like the superheroes have titles. It doesn't change their physiology or nature. Also, I think other Asgardians can get these titles by excelling at skills. Hella had to be taught her skills before she became the goddess of death. Fan (is she called?) had an unique connection to water the same way Thor had a unique connection to weather, so she became the goddess of water, or whatever.  As for #7, I want to continue the analysis of Loki's mischievous nature becoming a weapon.  Early in Thor 1, and mostly in the cut scenes, we see this natural affinity to make people laugh.  He turns it toward aggression during Avengers, after a year in hell.  During the dark world, there are moments when he's still nursing that darkness, and moments when he's trying to remember his old self.  By Ragnarok, he's more of the mischief for fun and less of the mischief as a weapon.  Its a part of his growth arc that needs to be included in his overall growth analysis.

Thank you for your thoughts! I like the idea of god-titles kind of similar to superhero titles, like Iron Man or Captain America. I also like the idea of Loki’s mischief as a weapon and it kind of ebbs and flows with his character arc - more weaponized when he is at his lowest points, and less so when he is in a better place. His mischief is such a part of his identity, it seems, that it would make perfect sense that it becomes a tool as much as a character trait, and those things can all kind of tie into the whole “God of Mischief” thing.

First, sorry this is kinda late, but it got lost in my inbox, lol! But now…

A: How did you come up with the title to [insertfic]?

So I’ll stick to BIG pieces: Year of the Tiger because it covers a year of Loki with a mutant!Reader nicknamed Tiger, lol! HoarFrost Hel because hoarfrost refers to, well, frost and I use the phrase as an insult for Jotuns combined with Hel, which refers to a place in the afterlife in Norse mythology (and is often confused with Hell). Encounters with Death because, haha, it covers Pine’s encounters with a female assassin known as “Death”. Return to Crimson because it’s about a character returning to Crimson Peak and also addresses some similar themes from the movie. We Could Be So Good Together because that’s what Laing believes about the shy!Reader and it’s a song by The Doors that actually would’ve been out just before the time period High-Rise take place in.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else wouldwrite (or finish) for you?

Umm…yes and no, lol! There are some that I wish I’d given the idea for it to someone else rather than having tried to write it only for the muse to die after, like, a couple chapters. BUT, now that I’ve started them, it sorta bothers me to think of someone else just taking over when I still have the basic concept in my brain, lol! (Maybe if they just started over it’d be cool though…interesting to see where the basic concept might take them and all that.)

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/readit? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?

I confess, I have a real issues killing off any character unless they’re utterly evil, lol! Even when I do kill them, I end up somehow bringing them back, hahaha! Loki is, obviously, a good canon example - even when he’s dead, he’s not dead - and, for OCs, I see Ulfr in much the same way. I have killed a few over the years though so I can do it, I just really dislike to. …Reading the death’s can be equally hard, but I’ve managed a touch better when it’s been written well, but not overly angsty.

I'm not deleting them, just telling google.photos that "That's not Tom Hiddleston!" This is one of those images misidentified. It never fails to crack me up seeing who the software thinks is Tom Hiddleston.

Summary: In which Loki and Mina realize that no holiday is safe from the epic round of truly bad luck Chapter 1: When Did Unicorn Poop Become a Thing?

I read Chapter One over breakfast this morning. And the rest of the day I saw unicorns and rainbows every time I turned around! Including the Betty Crocker Cupcake Box Mix my mom brought over today for my daughter to make.

Now if you look closely at the box, it says....

The Elasmotherium was a prehistoric rhinoceros referred to as "giant unicorn* and had a horn at least 6½ feet long.

The unicorn is the official National Animal of Scotland, where National Unicorn Day is celebrated on April 9.

So of course, even though this image has nothing to do with @caffiend-queen 's story, I couldn't resist daydreaming about real Siberian Unicorns chasing Loki. Who knows? Maybe a unicorn will chase Loki in Chapter Two? Or maybe everyone will just get sick from eating too much rainbow poop candy at Stark's Halloween party?

"I'm not even doing anything."

"Give it back."

"Hm? Did you say something? I can't hear you from here."

"Give back my mug, Loki, or I kick in you where my knee can reach and you won't be able to take advantage of your tallness for next two weeks."

Loki looked in your eyes and knew the fiery rage glowing through them could blow glass into a freaking bilge-snipe right now. And he did what he thought was best for the sake of his own health; lowered his hand to hand you your mug.

"Thank you," you appreciated him finally being a decent God.

"Buzzkill," he did not even try to mutter it as he watched you gulp down that delicious cold mojito hiding in your mug, the sweet and salty bubbles going down your throat while the lemon soothed your insides.

"Well, excuse me for defending my mojito!"

Loki scoffed, his eyes- and eyebrows, especially that one who was always looking at you like that cursed English teacher from seventh grade- judging every nerve in your body. "That is not even your mojito!"

"Finders keepers," you sing softly before getting on your toes to reach his face.

Loki looked on- rather, down- as you made your best efforts to somehow reach his very confused face right now, trying to hold back the groans from tired feet and a strained neck.

"What are you doing?" He had to ask.

You tsked and got back on your feet, gritting your teeth while your brows frowned at Loki.

"I was trying to be sassy by saying that and then planting a kiss on your cheek and walking away like no body's business but your stupid height always gets in the way of my evil plans!"

And this was the first time your heard Loki gigglesnort, making you let out an offensive gasp while internally every freaking Christmas bell and every Hanukkah candle was being lit up.

"Dammit Loki!" you threw your words at him, punching him in his torso- because that's the only pretty place you could reach. "You are so freaking tall I sometimes feel like I'm in a long-distance relationship!"

A thud and crash later two figures came out into the lounge from the dorms.

"Wha-hm? We heard something about a relationship?"

Scott and Peter stood by the walls nearly breathless, looking at you and Loki with pure hope burning inside their eyes.

"You finally in a relationship?" Peter tried to lightly laugh it off while trying to cross his arms across his chest before deciding not to, keeping them on his waist.

"No," you shook your head, clearly confused because this unnecessary ruckus, "I was just making fun of Loki. And his height. Like how he's so tall I have to Skype him just so I can tell him to come down so I can make fun of his hair."

Scott was listening patiently while Peter tried to imitate every expression the Ant-Man did.

"So, uhh, Loki," Scott finally spoke, "why don't help Y/N with that?"

Loki creased his brows. Peter could feel the intimidation course through the room when the God crossed his arms across his chest.

"You, know," Scott continued, excessively stretching his words and bobbing his head occasionally, "like coming down to her level and...stuff."

Scott honestly had no idea what he had just suggested; for all he wanted was to have the God get closer to you. And neither did he have any inkling as to what Loki made of it.

Loki took in a long breath before turning to you, bending his knees, placing his hands on them and hunching his back so as to 'come down to your level'.

"Is this good enough for our relationship, love?" he commented, watching that wave of insult coming back in your eyes. "Hmm," he continued, "it's really hot down here. Must be because I'm standing next to Hel's gatekeeper right now."

“Shoot,” Scott whispered to himself, “this is not what at all what I was picturing.” Peter turned to look at him with some diluted confusion. “I thought he would pick her up bridal style or something!” Peter raised his hands in disbelief as he looked at Scott. “Why would you even think that’s what he would do after what you just said?!”

Ten seconds. You took ten seconds of pure blank gaze seering into Loki before putting your empty mug down on the kitchen island. "Run, Loki," you asserted with the twist of your jaw. "Run like hell."

A voice from downstairs echoed throughout the lounge.

"WHO TOOK MY MOJITO!" Clint shouted.

Your enraged face quickly tansformed into fear mansion in the thick forest.

"Shit," you hissed, wide-eyed, before dashing towards the dorms, as Loki gave you the 'I told you so' look.

"Run!"
