This absolutely adorable snippet introduced me to the Boss/Niner ship and I’ve been on a brainrot for them ever since hshsgsg. So obviously I had to do a little illustration for it. Thank you @cabezadeperro for this galaxy brained pairing *flips table*

Early Light
Boss/Niner, a gift for me from the incredible paxduane
“You’re thinking too much,” Niner says. He barely glances back up at him as he slinks down his body to start pulling down his sleep pants. “It’s too early for that.”
Boss pulls his legs up, helping Niner drag his pants off. “If it’s too early for thinking, then it’s too early for—oh.”

Okay guys! I can't believe I can say this, but the commandos are finally done!
Tumblr media
It took me soo long to finish this set I nearly given up the whole project. But here they are, glorious soldiers!
Can we talk about how smooth Scorch is? Like he is my pride and joy. And Sev? The prettiest boy ever. I'm so happy it's finally done and I can continue the project. I already started the Null boys and next week I will start the bad batch as well (Echo earned to be the only one with two kind of helmet because mother deserves it).
So I hope I can finish it before the end of the 3 season!

Squad Beef
I can finally share my main piece for the Vode An Zine! The theme was “camaraderie”, and I wanted to go for a half-time-in-a-rugby-locker-room vibe featuring the long-suffering sergeants. Boss is being about as friendly as you’ll ever find him, and poor Niner’s in for a rude awakening…

So... Imperial Commando
I'm obsessed with this series. Like, REALLY obsessed. And I was heartbroken to find out that it remains unfinished (I'm an EU newcomer who started with Heir to the Empire during lockdown, don't judge...).
Anyway, I decided to write the last book. I'm calling it Imperial Commando: Survivor's Guilt and it follows the original Traviss plan, albeit with a Sev subplot. (whoops, spoilers ig)
I'm so excited. It might take a while, because I have a lot on atm, but it will happen.
Tumblr media
And in the meantime, I made the cover art using soft pastels. This was meant to be Darman, but I guess since it has the blue stripe it's probably Niner in shadow-ops-IC armour. Ah well.
K'oyacyi, and see you soon!

It somehow completely escaped my notice until now that in Triple Zero Green Watch was composed of Niner and Scorch.
NINER and SCORCH.
This changes everything.

Hello yes I’m still on my Boss/Niner brainrot thank you
They’ve been together for a little while at this point but kept it on the down low because they’re both very quiet and private people. But now Omega has just returned from a mission and Delta has to leave for one that will be particularly dangerous, and as they’re about to go Boss grabs Niner and kisses him in the presence of the others and Niner is like ‘oh okay, I guess we’re officially a thing now’ but secretly he doesn’t mind it for one bit. Anyway, those are my thoughts on them.

Darman
ten+ headcanons for this guy coming right up! from this meme
He’s not really quick-witted or quippy, rather a deep thinker. He likes to ruminate on a concept for a good long while, then when he discusses it he has rock solid points.
Next to his own RC-1136 designation, Taler was the RC-1135 he asked after while delaying to load up post-Geonosis, and he misses his closest brother immensely.
Boss (RC-1138) was from their decant batch as well, and Fixer (RC-1140) from the next one. Thus they’re all just a little bit more well-known to each other than the other members of Omega and Delta.
Vin and Jay often haunt his mind as well. He knew the other three Thetas the longest of all the people he’s ever been on a squad with.
He’s lost a lot of people, and though he’s quiet about it, he never stops grieving.
He likes doing various mathematical calculations (like detonation yields) and so does Fi (like sniper windages), so they often play number games to pass the time.
Once he successfully wraps his mind around Corr not being a 1-to-1 replacement for Fi, he allows himself to enjoy his company more, and he’s the brother Corr gravitates to most often. They like to chat about explosions in ways that horrify everyone who hears them.
His name is a bit of morbid humor, a play on dar’manda, which can be translated in a variety of ways, none of them pleasant. (dead man, lost soul, no longer mandokarla, etc.) He stuck with it because it made Skirata uncomfortable and he thinks the sergeant should have to face the reality of the clones’ status at all times.
He likes kids even if he is not ready to be a parent himself.
The memory of meeting Etain in that glade on Qiilura is a feature of his spank bank. He’s a little sentimental and it was really pretty, okay?
He’s slightly demisexual in that he finds the people he likes more attractive as he gets to know them better.
He’s very loyal and focused, but not necessarily to one singular recipient, both romantically and in a more general sense.
He holds a grudge like nobody’s business.

Finally some updates guys!
Tumblr media
Okay so... Huh... The previous update was in September. Which is kinda sad and I'm truly disappointed in myself.
But now on had a little free time, and finished our dear Fi (I don't know why he looks more smaller than the others, but I still love him) and started Sev (his helmet paint killing me).
So yeah, I'm working just... a little bit slowly.
I'm currently working on some fan fictions and incorrect quotes so if I still alive at the end of the week I will come back.
Because I always come back.... *Foxy singing in the background*

I'm torn between
Boss has been greying since the moment Scorch first opened his mouth
and
Boss is the definition of aggressively laid back and there is absolutely nothing that phases him.

Hiiiiii,
Ever since I read your other Niner/Boss snippet I've been head over heels for that ship!
Would you feel up to writing another one for them with uhmmm number 3? :D
hiiii! the song was cubs in five, by the mountain goats.
this turned out pretty bittersweet, but with a hopeful ending. post-order 66 fic, post/pre-established relationship. they're going to be just fine; they just don't know it yet. (also. it got.... long.)
---
Boss reviews the navcomp’s calculations for the third time and breathes out. The cockpit of their stolen shuttle is tiny and cold, and the harsh blue light that fills the viewport makes his head hurt worse than it already did. The hum of the hyperdrive fills his ears, and the vessel’s so quiet it’s hard to remember he’s not alone. Boss glances at the navcomp one last time, anxiety burning a hole in his stomach, and then he exhales and makes himself push the pilot’s seat back, away from the panels.
This is usually Fixer’s job. He’s better at it than Boss has ever been, because Boss never had to learn to be perfect at it in that way he never had to be the best shot in the squad because that used to be Sev’s job.
The hallway beyond the cockpit is empty and very dark. Boss blinks, gives his eyes some time to adjust. The whole ship stinks of engine grease, from the hold to the tiny fresher tucked between the two berths, and everything feels sticky-smooth to the touch, even the recycled air Boss now forces into his lungs with every single measured inhale.
It is actually a pretty good ship. Not too small, with a functioning hyperdrive and decent sublight engines and a row of tidy little cannons tucked close to its spine. It beats an Imperial shuttle, and it’s certainly better than staying with the army, caught behind enemy lines.
At first it wasn’t too bad—it was more of the same, really. And then it wasn’t.
Boss shakes himself. He starts walking again, and then realises he doesn’t know where to go. Fixer and Scorch are in one of the cabins, what’s left of Omega will be in the other. He is unsure of his welcome to any of those two places. The knowledge hurts, but it’s such an old pain. Boss makes himself look at it, poke at it, standing alone in the dark hallway. He knows grief is like a bruise: you just have to give it time. And he used to think of himself as a patient man, but there’s something about the rawness of new hurts, especially when they are not so new: Sev has been on Kashyyyk for two years.
In the end, he returns to the cockpit. He takes a seat on the uncomfortable pilot chair and  leans back, hands knitted together over his belly and legs awkwardly folded against the panel in front of him. Boss rubs his hands together, cold despite the katarn, and stares into the blue, his headache growing sharper, deeper, worse.
He just wanted to sleep. A few hours of uninterrupted sleep in a cot somewhere.
Something rattles at his back. Boss turns to look over the back of the seat at the door; half a second later it opens on its own to reveal Niner. The smell of caf—cheap, bitter, warm—fills the cockpit, tries and fails to drown the stink of engine grease; Boss feels his mouth fill with spit in turn.
He accepts the offered mug of caf without a word, feeling off-balance, caught by surprise. Niner pauses there, eyes thoughtful. He looks tired, older. The last time they saw each other he was smiling.
Boss missed him: he accepted Niner’s was just another absence he had to grieve, and got to it. Now he finds he does not know how to deal with Niner’s presence.
He knows he’s staring. Niner looks back calmly, steady. He expects nothing from Boss, not really. The certainty is—freeing. Boss exhales. He grunts his thanks and turns back to the viewport, hot mug of caf cradled in his hands. It’s bitter and full of dregs, but he sighs into it, burns his tongue and his lips.
In the end, the caf just makes his headache worse. Boss falls asleep in the pilot seat: Fixer wakes him up three hours later, face blank and eyes flat, bare hand heavy on Boss’s shoulder, and Boss allows himself to be herded into a cot in an empty cabin, into someone else’s bed.
Darman stares at him from the other cot, but Boss’s too tired. He buries his face in Niner’s pillow, breathing him in, and falls back into dreams.

The Republic Commando books provided some insight into how harsh (abusive at times) were Vau's methods but also how excellent and professional were Delta Squad and Atin in compare with others. Like Atin was better attuned to environment than Skirata's commandos and with Fixer managed to do job that normally would need Ordo to make it work, or how Deltas posed as a real threat to plan of capturing Ko Sai, even though they raced against two Mandalorian veterans, Mereel/ARC with genetic enhancments and Jedi officer who sabotaged their efforts to buy Kal more time. Especially nice are quotes about Atin and Deltas working together like well-fitting squad, regardless the conflict between Atin and Sev from the start of Triple Zero book or Atin’s wish to murder Vau (”There wasn’t the slightest hint in their voices that their former brother wasn’t welcome” 🧡💚💛🖤)
