Allergies
In a world where chaos bloomed and laughter wilted, there lived a villain named Malachi—the Sinister Sniffler. Unlike his malevolent counterparts, Malachi harbored an unfortunate secret: a crippling allergy to pollen. With each whiff of the fragrant particles, his sinuses erupted like a tempestuous volcano, reducing him to a pitiful, sneezing mess.
Across the verdant city, a hero named Floretta—The Blossom Blaster—sprouted into action, armed with flower-based powers. Her flowing cape mimicked the vibrant hues of a spring meadow, and her hands emitted a mystical, floral energy that could manipulate the very essence of nature.
One breezy day, Malachi concocted a mischievous plan to rob the local botanical garden, seizing control of its rarest flowers. As he tiptoed through the emerald labyrinth, his villainous scheme stirred petals and pollen alike, triggering his agonizing allergies.
With eyes streaming like miniature waterfalls, Malachi's focus wavered. He stumbled upon a field of alluring roses, their crimson beauty overwhelming his senses. The Sinister Sniffler clutched his nose, a symphony of sneezes building within him. The floral chorus crescendoed, causing a rippling cascade of pollen to engulf his trembling form.
Meanwhile, Floretta sensed the disturbance, her flower-based powers tingling with intuition. Like a gust of wind, she rushed to the scene, her cape fluttering like the wings of a hummingbird. The Blossom Blaster surveyed the villainous tableau before her, stifling a giggle at the sight of Malachi's pitiable predicament.
"Ah-choo!" Malachi sneezed, his body convulsing as if caught in a botanic boogie. The pollen danced around him, forming a swirling vortex that threatened to consume the wretched sniffler.
Floretta, her heart overflowing with compassion and mischief, stretched her hand towards the tempestuous whirlpool. Concentrating her power, she summoned a squadron of dandelions, whose feathery seeds rode the wind towards the villainous vortex.
In a wily twist of fate, the dandelions' seeds intertwined with the pollen, transforming the menacing storm into a whimsical ballet of fuzz and petals. The pollen, now gentle and harmless, descended upon Malachi's quivering body like a delicate snowfall, muffling his sneezes and offering him respite from his wretched plight.
Amidst the pollen-infused spectacle, Floretta extended her hand towards Malachi, offering him an unconventional truce. "Let's strike a deal, Sinister Sniffler," she proposed, her voice infused with levity. "If you promise to use your powers for good and never harm the flowers again, I'll share my secret anti-allergy flower remedy."
Malachi, humbled by his defeat and touched by Floretta's compassion, accepted her offer. From that day forth, the Sinister Sniffler transformed into the Noble Nose, using his powers to nurture and protect the very flowers he once despised.
Together, the unlikely duo proved that even in a world where allergies and flower-powered heroes collided, harmony could blossom, and laughter would forever chase away the pollen-induced woes that once plagued them both.

Musical References in the Cuphead AU
Something I've been thinking about since I first started animating this AU MONTHS ago was how to go about writing the music. Now, I fucking love jazz, but bro I cannot come up with an entire jazz song in Kris Maddigan's style for a fangame, I am WAY too inexperienced.
Epiphany: musical easter eggs, references, and guides.
For each character, I have a BUNCH of song references. They're either gonna cameo in the song, aid the vibe, or be a general structure for me to follow. Each song also has at least one Cuphead song, and that's the overall vibe I'm going for with their numbers. Each song is here for a reason, and 10 points to whoever can guess some of these lol.
If you're confused as to why a song is on here, send me an ask :)
TOMMY COOLATTA
Tommy Likes Mean People (fan song)
A Night in Tunisia (if nothing else, definitely the vibes of this one)
The BeyBlade Theme
Silent Hill 2 Dog Ending / Dogsong (Undertale)
Amalgam (Undertale)
Twin Peaks Theme
Half Life 2 Radio Theme (Gman's Theme)
Bootlegger Boogie (Cuphead DLC OST)
Botanic Panic (Cuphead OST)
DR COOMER
There's Nothing There (Main theme) (Aquacycle)
"I did have a wife, but they took her in the divorce" (Cruel Angel's Thesis from Evangelion) (Midi version)
Music to Soothe the Savage Snake Plant
The Fallen Child (THE DRUMS)
Super Punch-Out! Menu Theme
A CYBER'S WORLD? (Deltarune OST)
Clip Joint Calamity (Cuphead OST)
Carnival Kerfuffle (Cuphead OST)
BUBBY
Shin Megami Tensei IV OST - Black Market (interrogation scene)
Dr Feel-Good (Mötley Crüe)
Welcome to the Jungle (Guns n Roses)
Thunderstruck (AC/DC)
Moonbase Alpha (aeiou)
Tubes (the fan song)
Music to Soothe the Savage Snake Plant
SolusLunes - Endless Space
Witch Theme (Left 4 Dead)
Fiery Frolic (Cuphead OST)
Junkyard Jive (Cuphead OST)
BENREY
Passport Guardian (its3oe)

The Villain You Wanted (fan song)
Bohan the Raven King (Heavenly Sword OST)
At Doom's Gate ("this is a receipt.")
Yoshi's Island (Benry's Castle)
Opera De Ossium (Boneworks OST)

Baking the Wondertart (Cuphead DLC OST)
DARNOLD
Upgrade Station (Team Fortress 2 OST)
Killer 7 - Heroic Deeds
Porkrind's Emporium (Cuphead OST)
More to be added, but yeah! :)
Now I just have to also do this for the world theme and the run and gun levels I told myself I wasn't gonna make. 🙃

Last April was horrid and started one of the hardest years of my life, this April I have my partner and these inflorescences to look forward to! Years of growing aroids in apartments and I have never have any go into reproductive state. Looking forward to the future for this plant and forward in my personal life, as well!
(Philodendron 'Henderson's Pride', which gave me hours of confusion as to the real name as the plant was sold to me with the common name P. 'narrow escape' - also known as 'tiger tooth' and 'jungle boogie'. It seems 'ring of fire' is used to refer to a variegated form. I am going with 'Henderson's Pride' because my specimen matches up with ones grown by Brian's Botanicals! I believe this is a cross of P. Wendlandii x P. Tortum!)

The beauties of the Oogie Boogie Well Well Well What Have We Here Halloween Disney The Nightmare Christmas shirt . I will buy this natural world and the precision of origami collide in the exhibition “Origami in the Garden,” on view now at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Scattered throughout the gardens are 18 installations featuring almost 70 metal sculptures inspired by the Japanese art of folding paper, all designed by Santa Fe–based artists Jennifer and Kevin Box. You’re probably going to take lots of photos during your visit, so you might as well ensure your ensemble is photogenic—and perhaps inspired by the pleats and folds of the artform? Start with Cecilie Bahnsen’s darling white dress and pair it with origami-bird-inspired dangly earrings. when vacationing in florida:
tips from a born and raised floridian
wear (reef safe) sunscreen
this is a given y’all. if you’re out in the sun for longer than 10-15 minutes you need to have sunscreen on and re-apply every hour. let it soak in for about 30 minutes before you go into water. if you don’t you will get a nasty sunburn, and skin cancer isn’t fun either but it takes a lot of sunburns to get to that point. however, you can get sun poisoning from one really bad sunburn. sun poisoning, or photodermatitis, is a form of allergic contact dermatitis which is your skin having an allergic reaction to sun exposure. it can lead to swelling, difficulty breathing, burning sensations, an itchy red rash that looks like small blisters, skin peeling, nausea, and itchy brown/orange tinted blotches that mostly appear on your face/neck area and can stay there for days after the initial poising.
see the point on reef safe sunscreen to learn more about why you need to use reef safe sunscreen.
take your jewelry off before going in the ocean. sharks are attracted to jewelry, blood, and things like surfboard or boogie boards that make you look like a seal
sharks don’t eat people on purpose, they can’t see very well so they rely on their sense of smell, to smell blood, and their limited vision which mistakes shiny jewelry for shiny fish scales and boards for seals due to the similar shape. sharks do something called sensory biting, meaning they will bite you to see if you are food. don’t do things that make you look like food.
avoid swimming at night
during the day sharks tend to stay out past the sand bar, an area off the shore where sand has built up to a platform. however, at night they move closer to the shore, so try to avoid night swimming. and because the moon is out, the waves are always bigger and rougher.
stingray shuffle
the stingray shuffle is getting your feet buried slightly under the sand in the ocean and shuffling your feet aa you walk, hence the name. depending on what time of year you come it may be stingray season and it’s recommended to do this during that time to avoid getting stung.
be cautious of currents
currents can move you every which way and suddenly your 30 feet away from your set up on the sand. currents can also move you out to sea which can be extremely dangerous. so if you notice a tugging feeling or notice that your further away from your stuff, watch yourself to make sure you don’t stray to far away.
try not to shave the day of going into the water and try not to enter the water with open wounds
while oceans aren’t as bad as lakes when it comes to bacteria, they are still very bacteria filled and you can get an infection real quick. so shave a day or two before and make sure your wounds are closed because some infections can lead to rashes, bubbles, or even amputation.
check for red tide and research it
red tide isn’t talked about very often but it is disgusting. red tide is discolored sea water caused by toxic red dinoflagellates (microorganisms). it kills tons of sea life which causes said dead sea life to wash up on beaches and float in the water which attracts predators like sharks and big fish. it also releases toxins into the air which makes it hard to breathe, and for people with asthma or any other respiratory problems this can cause serious illness. the west coast of florida is dealing with some red tide right now if you want to research it.
try not to honk at people while driving
this is something taught in other southern states as well, and my parents taught it to me when i was learning to drive. if you honk at someone you are running the risk of being followed and shot. a lot of people have guns down here and they aren’t afraid to use them. now this will not happen every time you honk, i have been in cars where the driver has honked and nothing happened. but it’s better to be safe than sorry because some people don’t know how to handle their road rage.
prepare for the humidity
i know your weather app says that it’s 85 degrees but it feels like 93 when you go outside because of the humidity. that’s why florida people wear layers.
rain does not last as long here as it does in northern states
if it starts raining your day is not ruined. in florida , unless there is a hurricane or tropical storm, rain storms normally only last for like 20-30 minutes at a time. if there is a little group of them you will get spurts of rain and no rain for like an hour or two at most. when there are big storms they normally last for a couple hours, but we don’t get storms like that super often.
gator safety
something that it taught in all florida elementary schools, if an alligator is chasing you run in one direction for 10-15 feet, then make a hard turn in another direction and repeat (this is what we mean when we say running in zigzags, not like hopping side to side as you run), if an alligator has a grip on one of your limbs or someone else’s, plug your fingers or something else up it’s nose so it’s forced to open its mouth the breathe, and don’t touch gator babies, the mom can and will come for you.
shark safety
also something that is taught in all florida elementary schools, but shark safety is more common knowledge than gator safety. it a shark has a grip on you, punch them in the nose. it’s a sensitive point and they normally release you and swim away. as previously mentioned, sharks don’t like to eat people, they don’t think we taste good. so unless it’s starving sharks won’t try to eat a human that they can tell is a human. however if you don’t follow the previously stated shark safety tips, they may mistake you for a fish or seal.
unless you’re on a private beach, spots on the sand are first come first serve
just because you had a spot yesterday does not mean you have that spot for the rest of your vacation, that’s not how the beach works. you have to get there early if you want a specific spot.
don’t touch the manatees
manatees are an endangered species, meaning that you can not touch them. it’s illegal. that being said, if the manatee floats it’s happy round little self over to you and touches you then that’s fine, you can’t control what the manatee does. but if you actively swim towards and reach for the manatee and someone with a legal standing or a life guard sees you, you can get in trouble.
most sea life is not violent until provoked
manatees are not violent at all, they just float there, that’s why they’re endangered. but creatures like sharks and stingrays are not dangerous unless they think your there to fight or they mistake you for food. that’s why you stingray shuffle, because if you step on a stingray it will see you as a threat and sting you. and that’s why you take the shark prevention seriously so they don’t mistake you for food.
dolphin safety; admire from a distance
oh but dolphins are nice! wrong! dolphins are very dangerous creatures, just not in all the same ways that sharks are. they are one of the only creatures on the planet aside from humans who do malicious things knowing that they are malicious. dolphins at swim with experiences have given humans lacerations and broken bones. they are still predators and while it only happens rarely, dolphins do bite and attack people. dolphins are incredibly smart, strong, and fast. if they feel threatened they will swim at you full force and hit you with their head/body as hard as they possibly can. one woman named valerie ryan was hit by a dolphin which resulted in six spinal fractures, a damaged lung, and ptsd. dolphins are civil for the most part, but they are astonishingly smart and strong, and will attack if provoked or threatened, so it’s better to avoid close contact with them and admire from a distance or from a boat.
get reef safe sunscreen
all spray sunscreens and quite a few lotions contain toxic chemicals that are contributing to killing reefs. australian gold makes botanical reef safe sunscreen with spfs from 30 to 70, and they make a spray with the smallest amount of the toxic chemical that they can if you desperately need a spray. get reef safe sunscreen. it doesn’t matter if you’re not swimming in the ocean all run off from showers, sinks, toilets, and other water systems ends up in the ocean. so even if you spend the day in the city or at a theme park, if you come home a wash off that sunscreen it will end up in the ocean.
theme park tips
bring a mini battery powered or chargeable fan or you will wish that you did. watch the weather, if it looks like it’s going to rain head to a restaurant and eat lunch or dinner, by the time you’re done the rain will most likely be over. do what you want to do the most or what normally has the longest line right when the park opens, the line will be the shortest then. download the park apps to monitor the wait times for rides and to see if any are closed, delayed, or virtual line only. if you plan on buying souvenirs do so an 2-3 hours before the park closes, this way you won’t have to carry the bags around all day and you can beat the closing crowd. try to plan your route ahead of time so that you won’t be walking to and fro because someone wanted to do this ride that’s on the other side of the park and after that someone else wants to do a ride that’s right by the place you were before, if you don’t your feet will hurt like a mf at the end of the day and you’ll waste time walking all over the place. bring a travel sized deodorant, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, period products, and anything else you may need that they might not sell.
theme parks with kids (courtesy of my mother)
bring your own snacks and water (you’re allowed). once again, mini fan. frog togs are another way to keep kids cool without having to do much cause you just like put it on their neck. find a rest spot, my mom said that when she and my dad would take us to theme parks when we were little they had designated rest spots where they would sit and let us nap, eat snacks, and cool off in the shade. put a bead bracelet on your child with your name, their name, and your number on it if your worried that they may get lost. make reservations, hungry kids are no fun, and if they have to sit and wait for a restaurant for a long time they will get hangry, making a reservation around the time that they normally get hungry is a way to avoid this. bring a change of clothes.
think that’s all, and enjoy your vacation lol

What's your ideal Valentine's, Vi? :D

❝So, like, my perfect February 14th? I'd like to go breakfast at my favorite Cuban joint with a handsome fellow, take a walk in the botanical garden, maybe hit up some other stuff. Carnivals, the beach, art galleries. Maybe, like. Um. I dunno, I really like the concept of sharing some lava taro pastries from Sheng Kee for lunch! Go look at fancy soap. Buy a few bars. Maybe, uuuuh... Go to my place, get in pajamas, marathon a few Wong Kar Wai movies, and have a pizza delivered?❞ Simple enough. He wasn't hard to please.
❝After that—? I wouldn't mind going to my bed and doing the ancient body boogie. Bringing an al dente noodle to my spaghetti house. Doing the horizontal greased-weasel tango. Locking legs and swapping gravy. Oscillating the unmentionables. Getting slung around like pizza dough. Getting blasted by the pump-action yogurt rifle. Then, like, we can talk about therapy and what's stressing us out. I’ll probably cry as I talk about how lost I am in life.❞

14 Of The Safest Countries in Africa
A lot of people assume that the continent of Africa is unsafe. This has mainly been caused by false and bias portrayal by the media. When the average person hears of Africa, they automatically think of the worst, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We have been to many countries in Africa and each country has its own unique gift and vibe and we have never had our lives in danger at any moment. We have even extended our stays in some of these countries because we were simply having too much fun. We believe that every single place on Earth should be visited at least once and it would be unfair to miss out on experiencing the beautiful continent of Africa.
In recent years, Africa’s profile has been steadily rising due to the big media push surrounding Ghana’s Year of Return. This has put Africa on people’s radar as another destination to explore. For many, visiting anywhere in Africa will be a first-time experience so we decided to write a full list of the 20 safest countries in Africa. This list will highlight the places to see, what to expect and places to stay if you are a tourist visiting for the first time.
1. Rwanda
Rwanda is by far the safest country in Africa. The vibe of the country is very relaxed. If you want to travel solo to an African country. You have to start by visiting Rwanda. The crime rate is so low. According to the Gallup Global Law and Order Report, Rwanda is ranked as the 11th safest country in the entire World since 2017. In addition to this, the people are so warm and welcoming.
The place to visit in Rwanda is the city of Kigali. The city is very beautiful and a great display of African modernity. While you are in the city, we suggest you should visit the Genocide Memorial, the Inema Arts center, the Grand Presidential Palace, and many more. You will get a strong sense of the countri’s past, present, and future.
The nightlife in Kigali is unforgettable, there are many bars and clubs playing live music. There is always an event every night. For a night to remember, visit Iriba Bar, Pili Pili, K Club. The atmosphere, the drinks, the music, and the food will make you want to visit Rwanda every year.
In terms of where to stay in Kigali. Definitely stay Kigali Serena Hotel. There are also some beautiful boutique hotels you can stay in such as the Heaven Boutique Hotel.
If you love to shop. You should visit the Kigali Cultural Village. There are so many stalls selling everything from clothing to art to food. The atmosphere is truly an unforgettable experience. I’m sure you will find something that catches our eye that will be the perfect gift for yourself or someone else.
One tip to note is that on the final Saturday of every month is Umuganda. It is basically a day of nationwide community service. So everyone does their part for the community by cleaning the streets and helping out with other general stuff. During this time a lot of places are closed or have limited opening hours. So be aware of this day when you are booking your flight and hotel.
2. Botswana
Botswana has amazing political stability. As a result of this stability, it has led to a very low crime rate in the country.
One of the most exciting things about this country is the Wildlife. You will be immersed in the natural world so quickly. It feels like you are in another World. Kalahari Desert and many other areas offer epic views that have you photographic every single moment of your trip. There are other parts such as Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park.
There is so much diversity in terrain. If you enjoy outdoor activities a trip to Botswana is much needed as there is a wide range of outdoor activities, you can get involved in. One of the things you have to experience is the Moremi safari so you can have an opportunity to see the Big 5 which are the rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo.
Botswana is one of the friendliest and safest African countries and I am sure you will enjoy it thoroughly.

The beaches in Mauritius are absolutely beautiful. It is very safe and is known to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the World. There is also plenty of opportunities to see different varieties of wildlife. There are also opportunities to go hiking. The terrain of the country is made of mountains and dunes. It’s perfect if you like to be at one with nature while going on a hike.

Lusaka is the capital of Zambia and there are loads of bars and clubs to get your boogie on. There are a few places we would like to recommend that will enable you to have an unforgettable night. We suggest you visit the Alpha Bar. There is always something exciting happening there. It is definitely worth checking out. Lusaka is a buzzing city, so we are sure that you will find some cool bars and clubs to have a good time.
In Zambia, it is best to stay in a hotel that gives you easy access to different places in the city. Hotels like the Neelkanth Sarovar Premier and The Hilton Garden Inn are great suggestions for places to stay in Lusaka, Zambia. Their service and location are fantastic elements to ensure you have a wonderful time in Zambia.
7. Ghana
Ghana is currently number 44 on the Global Peace Index. This is a huge indicator of how safe the country is and how modern and forward-looking the country is.
I remember being in Accra, which is the capital city of Ghana walking at night and it felt so safe. I didn’t feel unsafe for one second. Everyone is focused on their own thing and really welcoming and friendly.
If it is your first-ever trip to Africa. We would suggest you visit Ghana first to get an experience of how great African cities and societies function. They say that Ghana is Africa for beginners. Once you have visited Ghana it will set the precedent of what you can expect when you visit other countries in Africa.
For a number of years, the country has had great political stability and it is currently going through a transformation where it is opening itself more to the World. Which is a very exciting opportunity for the country and its people. As mentioned before, one of the things I loved about Ghana was how friendly and peaceful the people were.
In terms of the nightlife. It is absolutely epic. There are so many bars, clubs, and restaurants in Accra, especially on Oxford Street in the Osu area. The vibe of the city feels positive, energetic and you feel very safe and secure.
Places to stay are in Osu, Oxford Street, or East Legon. These are great locations as you will be in the center of the action and buzz in the city. Also, there is easy access to upscale bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to sink your teeth into.
8. Swaziland
Swaziland is very safe. Swaziland actually has a low population. It currently only has over 1 million people in the country. The people are very friendly and welcoming.
In terms of where to stay, you can stay at the Summerfield Botanical Garden or Mountain Inn. These are places where you will be embraced by the natural beauty of Swaziland.
The nightlife is mainly in Ezulwini and Mbabane. There is live music, bars, restaurants. There are many places that give you the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere, culture, and the positive vibes of the country.
9. Senegal
Senegal is politically stable. As with anywhere in the World crime is usually a petty crime, which is mostly made up of pickpocketing. It is still important to take the necessary precautions and carry your anti-theft backpack with you, so you do not become an easy victim. But according to our experience, crimes against tourists are very rare.
Senegalese are very positive and welcoming people. They are also very keen to share their culture with you. They treat people, especially tourists with respect, and are willing to go over and beyond to ensure you have a positive experience in their country.
As you visit Senegal. We suggest you stay in the capital, Dakar. In the city, there is so much to do and you will get a full offering of the country’s vibrant culture and its people.
In terms of places to stay. We would suggest staying in the Radisson Blue hotel. It is absolutely beautiful. The décor of the hotel is truly amazing and inspiring. It’s got an infinity pool, which gives you a beautiful view of the ocean. The rooms are state of the art and very modern. If you decide to stay there, you will definitely have a splendid time. If you want to stay in a boutique hotel. There are plenty of gorgeous boutique hotels that offer an elegant and vibrant experience. Boutique hotels such as The Djoloff Hotel and The La Residence Dakar are great choices for a unique and beautiful experience.
The Senegalese love to party. The nightlife in Dakar is absolutely brilliant. There are so many bars to choose from. There is literally a bar or a club to suit every taste. If you decide to go on a night out in Dakar, check out Le Phare des Mamelles. The view in that bar is outstanding. Also, check out Le Patio. There is nothing more to say except that you will definitely have a night to remember there!
10. The Gambia
The Gambia is the smallest country on the African continent. It’s nickname is ‘The Smiling Coast of Africa.’ It is a very fitting nickname as The Gambia is actually one of the safest countries on the African continent. For tourists (travelling in groups or solo travellers) it is totally safe to travel around and it is trouble free. However, it is still important to take the necessary precautions because The Gambia does have a small issue with pickpockets. But if you remain aware of your surroundings or wear your anti-theft backpack in crowded areas you will be fine.
In terms of where to stay. We would suggest you stay anywhere on the Senegambia strip as there are a lot of hotels, bars and restaurants. It is pretty busy, so we are sure you will be able to find some cool places to be entertained and get your groove on. We suggest staying at the Woodpecker resort or the Ocean Bay Hotel and Resort. A lot of the hotels in Banjul are pretty nice, so definitely find one that will give you then best deal.
When it comes to the nightlife in The Gambia. A lot of the nightlife is mostly concentrated in Serrekunda, in the resort town of Kaloli. There are also plenty of wonderful bars and clubs in the township of Kotu to chack out as well.
 11. Malawi
Malawi is a landlocked country. It is bordered by Zambia, Mozambique, and Tanzania. It is nicknamed as the ‘Warm Heart of Africa.’ It is very safe and is very popular amongst solo travellers. According to its history. It has never had a civil war. Which is very rare in the continent of Africa. In comparison to the region and its neighbouring countries, the crime rate is very low. According to the World Economic Forum Malawi is said to be one of the safest countries in Africa. However, as I keep mentioning. It is still important to take the necessary precautions to protect your belongings, just in case. There is nowhere on the planet that has no crime of pickpockets. So, it’s crucial to still be aware wherever you are in the World.
If you are thinking of where to stay in Malawi. If you are staying in the capital city of Lilongwe. We suggest you stay at Latitude 13 degrees. The hotel is simply gorgeous. If you want to experience beachside luxury during your trip, definitely check out Kaya Mawa. It Is located on Likoma Island.
When it comes to nightlife, it has little bars and clubs that will satisfy the typical party animal. But it is very modest. However, there is an abundance of dancing displays and live music events that will be provided by the hotel or nearby bars in the area.
12. Uganda
Uganda is a very safe, secure, and politically stable country. According to the Government, there has been an increase in police on the streets. This has proved to be very effective as it has caused crime to be reduced by over 50% especially in the city of Kampala. The efforts in increasing police response and ensuring there is no civil unrest has solidified Uganda as a safe haven for group tourists and solo travellers from around the World.
When it comes to choosing accommodation for your trip. Kampala has a wide range of luxury hotels and stylish boutiques to choose from. One luxury hotel that made a positive lasting impression on us was the Kampala Serena Hotel. The rooms are so beautiful and elegant. It has restaurants in the hotel that serve the most delicious meals. Definitely try some Ugandan cuisine and also try some authentic Ugandan coffee. It tastes like heaven. That is the best way I can describe it. There are other hotels such as the Kabira Country Club that also provide you with a luxurious African experience during your stay.
Kampala’s nightlife is very well known amongst other African’s living in the continent. It is known that people from all over Africa travel to Uganda to experience Kampala’s wonderful nightlife. The clubs actually don’t close at 3 am, they are open till the next morning. Speaking from personal experience, the only times I have ever partied from night until in the morning (like 10 am in the morning) has been in Africa. African’s definitely know how to party. Especially Ugandans. If you are looking for some cool spots in Kampala to let your hair down. Definitely visit Hollywood in Kampala, also check out Guvnor. There are so many little bars and clubs where you can easily club hop and make your night one to remember
 13. Madagascar
Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the World. Madagascar is a truly unique and beautiful island. The overall crime rate in the country is low so it is considered safe to travel to. If you are the type of traveller that likes an adventure Madagascar is the perfect destination. It has the World’s most unique biodiversity. During your visit, you will definitely see some rare plants and animals. In addition, the people are so friendly and kind. A trip to Madagascar will be a life-changing trip.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Madagascar. We suggest you stay in the North-Eastern part of the island, such as Nosy Boraha. Hotels such as Les Lemuriens and Samaria Lodge are great choices to have a unique and pleasant stay in Madagascar.
When it comes to the nightlife. You should check out Taxi Be and Le point d'exclamation. They are both in the capital of Antananarivo. There are also loads of bars and clubs you can enjoy. There are also a lot of great spots for live music if you want a more immersive experience.
 14. South Africa
South Africa overall is very safe to travel to and explore. The country has so much natural beauty. There are many big cities within South Africa such as Johannesburg, Capetown, Durban, and many others that offer something different and special. There are some bits of petty crime such as pickpockets but as long as you have your anti-theft backpack with you and you keep your belongings close you will be fine. No country on Earth Is perfect and to expect perfection in a country is totally unrealistic. Another thing to be aware of is that tourist hotspots are controlled and protected by the authorities, so you will feel safe and secure during your trip.
South Africa is a very large country. It is the 9th biggest country in Africa. So when it comes to choosing a place to stay you will be spoiled for choice. If you are staying in Capetown, you may want to consider staying in the Atlantic View Capetown Boutique Hotel or Raddison Blu Waterfront. If you are staying in Johannesburg, you may want to consider staying at the Munro Boutique Hotel or Villa Simmone Hotel. If you are staying in Durban, you may want to consider staying at the Hilton Durban. Ensure you stay at a hotel with great customer service and great security. That is super important.
South Africa has so much variety when it comes to the nightlife. There are so many clubs and bars in Capetown. In Capetown, there is an area called Long street, which has a lot of bars, clubs, and restaurants. Johannesburg has Rosebank and Durban has a lot of jazz clubs. There is something for everybody in these cities.
Visiting Africa will be a unique experience. It will be like nothing you have experienced before. So, when you travel to any of the African countries, remember to immerse yourself in the culture, the vibe, and the activities. It will definitely make a positive impact on your life.

for @soft-simmer‘s Cash 💕
› 24 years old › Actress...*cough* well, she’s getting there. › Enjoys gardening, thrifting for odd bits, writing little articles on fashion finds for her blog, traveling to Selvadorada to help identify plants and yoga.
A little bit about Aune: She was raised out in the fields of Windenburg, her family owns a plot of lands and that’s all she knew growing up. The big leap to move out and into a small townhome in Del Sol was sudden and surprising but she dreams of being an actress. If it fails, she has dream of opening her own botanical garden, so others can enjoy the beauty of plants as much as she does. Maybe now she should mention that her home is, er, overrun with plants of different kids? She loves hosting disco night at a little club around the corner, she can definitely oogie boogie all night long. She’s easy to befriend and talk to, if you come over she’ll immediately put the kettle on. She’s a secret keeper and a loyal friend and lover.

Hello hello!! I hope you’re good, kat!! For the botanical asks: peony, bell flower and hyacinth 🌺
SOFIE!!!
Peony: What is something you wish your parents could have told you?
Hmm... I mean... This is actually a hard one because I am estranged from my father and I didn’t have a good relationship with my mother until a couple of years ago but I guess... In my mother’s case, “You are my child and I will love you regardless.” because she told me that when I finally came out to her about being genderfluid and it was just... really hard hitting and I think I might have had a less rocky relationship with her if she had told me soon.
For my father? I suppose it would have been, “You will grow to be beautiful and strong.” but I know that won’t happen
Bell Flower: What the title of the song that makes you want to jump around out of joy?
This is a bit silly but I actually really like dance music so Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega and I will never be able to resist the Boot Scootin’ Boogie because that is just a song that is at every party in Texas. My personal favorite though? Boom Boom by the Kumbia Kings- I can feel that beat in my blood and even if I am not dancing, I will move in some way. XD It’s irresistible.
I hope that you have a good day/night! Be sure to get enough rest!

Books of Shadows
@theweepingwillowbird just posted about how frustrated she (?) is with her Book of Shadows — how often she’s started and restarted it after making small errors. I wrote a long response, and then it was eaten.  So rather than try again, I’m going to write my own list for beginners; and then it’s not crowding out her request, either, or offering things that don’t necessarily apply to her.
First, it’s helpful to consider Ira Glass’s advice. You have taste, and you don’t want to ruin your taste.  But there is a gap between taste and skill — and you have to produce work to close that gap.
First, recognize that most of the impatience involved in producing a beautiful illustrated book by hand is really a daemonic presence — the Dweller on the Threshold.  A genuinely creative and magical life is open to all, but first there’s this fear-monger that holds you back.  Don’t let it. And recognize that this daemon will appear again and again through your process.  All the good stuff you will ever produce is on the other side of that door.
There are also tools to help a newcomer to the art of making illuminated or illustrated books, to make rapid progress.
Learn the Secret Law of Page Harmony. Once you understand that pages have a standard size and a standard margin that can be harmonious, it’s easy to decide on a size of handwriting.
Study some calligraphy techniques.  I really like Getty and Dubay’s Write Now series for adults (I used the left-hand version).
Learn some illustration skills.  I began with Ed Emberley and Sachiko Umoto (”Let’s Draw!” translated from Japanese), then moved on to Dave Gray’s Visual Thinking School and Mike Rohde’s Sketchnotes.  Now I’m working on Botanical and Bird Illustration and Botany in A Day.
You don’t have to learn bookbinding, but you can. Esther K. Smith’s book How to Make Books will teach you 60-80% of what you need to know.  It means that you can produce pre-printed pages using your computer, and then hand-bind it (which I have done to some of my poetic works).
Learn some Geometry.  I worked through all of the problems in Andrew Sutton’s book Ruler and Compass, and produced my own book of shadows specifically for geometric work... 114 pages, nearly 200 proofs. All those magical diagrams you see in beautifully-photographed witch-aesthetic posts have an underlying order to them, and knowing that geometric rule can really help.
Learn about Commonplacing.  A Book of Shadows is really a kind of commonplace book with a specialized purpose of re-enchanting the world.  A Book of Shadows is in part a tool for cultivating a particular kind of rich interior life. There’s a variety of techniques for making them work.  This is also permission, in a sense, to copy all sorts of things into your Book of Shadows, which now serves a threefold purpose — to cultivate that rich interior life on the level of the soul; to practice the mental and physical skills of practical geometry, illustration and calligraphy at the level of the intellect; and to create an heirloom in the realm of the material world. Welcome to witchcraft.  ;-)
Google “medieval manuscript elephant illustrations”. It will make you feel better about your illustrative work — those monks used beautiful colors and rare materials to produce high-quality illustrations of ... blobs.  No medieval monk ever laid eyes on an elephant, and they hadn’t the slightest idea how to draw one.  You can do better. And you will do better. And it will make you feel better knowing that centuries ago, professionals were once just as in the dark about this as you are.
Noah Bradley’s advice in his essay, Don’t Go to Art School, is spot-on. There’s a wealth of free and cheap resources to do everything I’ve just described above. Nearly everything on this list can be studied from YouTube videos,  webpage tutorials and more.  You can borrow many of these books from the library.
Spend some time thinking about time on five different layers: the “secular calendar” of January to December with its holidays and weekends; the “astronomical calendar” of constellations and wheeling stars; the “Earth calendar” of flowers and fruit in their seasons; the “astrological calendar” of planets, signs, houses, and aspects; and the “sacred calendar” you follow, whether it be Sabbats and Esbats, or Saint’s Days and Sundays, or Festae and Dies Aegyptiani.  Find ways to represent and mark these in your book — because these tax all of your abilities as a geometer, a page designer, a calligrapher and an illustrator.  These are the places where your artistic abilities will tend to be stretched the most.
Most of all, remember this: Your Book of Shadows, or your Book of Sunshine, or your Book of Splendor, is not required to be a masterpiece... unless you want to be a master maker-of-illustrated-books.  You are making this book, though, in order to cultivate a kind of interior life — and there is a type of curriculum that aids that purpose.  Some of that curriculum is rooted in the artistic and mathematical-proportional training I’ve laid out here.
But much, much more of it comes from the material that you choose for yourself.  YOU should decide what goes into your commonplace book for magic and mysticism.  YOU should decide what diagrams and illustrations it contains. YOU should decide how deep down this rabbit-hole you want to go.
There is a vast cloud of witnesses and allies, in the form of the geometers and illustrators of the past, who will aid you in this labor for as far into the work as you want to go.  There are poets and preachers and witches and mystics a-plenty who will sing for joy and dance the boogie if you re-write their words in your best handwriting (no matter if they’re dead or not).  But YOU are still the maker of the work.

4 day weekend
Omg, i love activities and fun. i mean don't we all but god it gets me going. i just came out of the best weekend i have had in a while and it was so great!! Lets do a play by play below:
Wednesday evening - we had work drinks at Dr Morse which were really fun, had a bit of a dance, bit of a flirt with Tom and work mate bonding. Can't beat it.
Thursday - woke up with the incredible feeling of 4 days off ahead. I met Tish for a coffee in Northcote, which was really nice and special. Then skated home to meet the crew to go to Williamstown for the day. Nathan had organised a day of activities in true Nathan style. We took the train and lay on the beach, I even went for a dip! We then went for a walk along the coast and finished up at a rooftop bar before training back to Melbourne. A nice little escape. We then eagerly awaited Emma to land in Melb, i fell asleep in Nathan's bed.
Friday - we woke up eager for a fun day ahead exploring. Emma, Ruby and I walked to the Abbotsford Convent to show her around, we then ended up in Fitzroy at had some sweet treats and coffee at Falco bakery. We did some shopping before heading to Anna Crotty's to pop in for Phie's birthday lunch. I then went to meet Tish and all her mates for a pub crawl she had organised in Fitzroy North. I then ubered to the city and Emma, Ruby and I went to Music Room for an Espresso Martini at Her Bar. We then went to Punch Lane for dinner and then went to NGV Nights. Boogied to a DJ and went to the Picasso exhibition, a bit drunk at this point. Then ended up in the parents room - it was crack up. We then met up with Nathan and Vince at The Carlton Club in the city which I was sceptical of but was sooo fun. We danced all night, I met this 30 year old who was buying us drinks and I enjoyed his attention but I later found out he had a child...
Saturday - woke up a bit dusty but ready for the day ahead. We went to South Melbourne markets and got almond croissants and coffee. We also went to Hector's Deli for Eggplant sandwiches. We then ended up at Yarra Botanica for a drink to celebrate Grand Final Day. Everyone was feeling quite exhausted and dusty, so I headed to Sarah and Mira's for their Grand Final celebration and watched the game on the TV. I then went to a house party on Punt Rd with Kate and came home pretty early - I was shattered, ate Pad Thai on the couch.
Sunday - woke up a bit dusty again but pushed through. Emma, Ruby and I headed to the city and got coffee at Maker and did some exploring. We then got Fish Bowl and sat in the Botanical Gardens, it was beautiful and sunny. We then strolled through the gardens and headed to High St in Armadale for a bit of shopping. We then ubered to Carlton, and met Nath and his parents at Johnny's Green Room for a drink before going to Hairspray in the city. The musical was SO great, I loved it, even though I was soooo tired by this point. We then met Vince and had Biang Biang noodles for a late dinner.
Monday - back to work, but the fun wasn't over. I met Em, Nath and Ruby at Marion after work for dinner, which was divine. We then managed to get a spot at Above Board, a secret little bar on Smith Street and had delicious cocktails. And that was the end.
What a weekend!!! I spent an exorbitant amount of money, but you know what it was so worth it. It was so special to spend time with Em, I forgot how much I value her as a friend. It really made me realise how much I appreciate my friends from uni, they will really be friends for life and will always be people I can count on. I am so lucky and grateful to have them.
xx
