I hate abstract art. But Western art has been technically moving towards it forever.
Allow me to explain: if you look at pre-Renaissance European art, it's blocky, flat and largely looking and unrealistic. It's in absolutes, because the truths of life in this time were about God and religion. However, once we enter the Renaissance, as science, the wisdom of the ancients, travel, trade and everything else flourish and enrich the minds of artists, the world becomes a little less flat and black and white. Less absolute.
Paintings become softer, more grounded in the present reality and world of the Renaissance artists, who are becoming more open to science and less grounded in any one belief.
Let's move even further, away from classical styles, towards impressionism, cubism, et cetera. The art grows even less solid, even less blocky and grounded. Look at the art of today, it is at times incomprehensible, sometimes grounded in nothing, torn away from the realities seen in art of the past.
As technology advances, and we learn more about the world around us, talk more about it, everything becomes less absolute. Binary, fragmented, almost unreal. We are simultaneously everything and nothing.
And so art becomes abstract.

Jesus reminded us of another great reset from centuries ago when in the days of Noah - just like today - the world had descended into perversion and debauchery. Yet despite the state of that world people continued living life large “…eating, drinking, and marrying until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-27)
After the flood, mankind continued to defy God. Under Nimrod, the world was united 'in one language' they built a tower into heaven, and just as technological wonders amaze us today through the brilliance and creativity in our high-tech world, those people also crafted amazing things such that the Bible says “Nothing was restrained from them of which they have imagined to do.”
Then as now, history is repeating itself!
Today the world is also united in 'one language' via the Internet, seeks to build the world back better with AI, clean energy in a non-polluting world that even also has a tower that reaches into heaven (the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.) But this reset is not what today’s scripture verse is referring to, but God’ ultimate restoration of the world he always intended mankind to live in in peace, harmony and love.
Friend, do not look to the world, its leaders or popular philosophies to be the answer to a better future (Colossians 2:8) but put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only one that not only can but will save the world and all those that place their hopes in Him and Him ALONE.
To what RESET are you placing your trust?

Utopia
The Epigraph
Utopias seem to be much more achievable than we formerly believed them to be. Now we find ourselves presented with another alarming question: how do we prevent utopias from coming into existence? …Utopias are possible. Life tends towards the formation of utopias. Perhaps a new century will begin, a century in which intellectuals and the privileged will dream of ways to eliminate utopias and return to a non-utopic society less "perfect" and more free.”
—Nicholas Berdiaeff, translated from the French by Shmoop

The Future is Now. (Warning--curmudgeon rant.) When did active customers in “the customer is always right” become the passive “consumer,”  who cattle-like are prodded into any corral profitable for providers? How did writers, as “content providers” lose their power to spark change in nations?
Decades ago, Paradise Gardens imagined our world to an extreme, where government=business and the Corporate Business Estates produced worker-consumers, removed from the inhabitable Earth’s surface. Only the  Unconnected, with short life-spans, remained, an example to rebels.
Despite all the A! talk,  “consumers” are already dominated by “robots,” tech’s systems  have efficiently streamlined human reactions, and experience to boxes checked and processed for corporate management. Reform is not an option, since profitability is the sole purpose. And most employees identify with management’s purpose, even if conflicted with their personal experience and a better future is not a flicker of a promise.
What is left is the tactics of consumer revolt. It actually can reform business objectives. Some ideas:  Refuse all surveys (which often discipline workers)  If you can’t check “all boxes” that apply, write in complex true answers. Advocate for human nature--over the counterfeit in functions that can’t really be duplicated without emotional deficit--such as personal interactions, arts. Why do we need the business of control in the dubious “perfection” of ersatz humans?
Consider the ridiculous petty roles profit assumes at consumer costs (emotional and financial). Revolt! There were consumer revolts in America’s past, disruptions not co-opted by business. And small ones are going on now. In some states customers are pushing back at scanning their purchases before buying. Eliminating the need for workers, it forces “consumers” to do a time-consuming service long the job of the business. Ask for a worker at register.
Super markets and drug stores have used “efficiency” to sell the idea to both  consumers and employees. When, in fact, it imposes a new task on customers to serve the corporation’s needs before their own desires. And eliminates the voracious desire to serve the bottom-line. Ask for a register.
The bag charge. Consider states wanted to eliminate plastic bags for ecological reasons and many allowed business to charge for paper or other biodegradable bags. Covid fostered the idea of businesses suffering and many small ones did. I never take issue with a bag charge from a smaller store. Yet oddly enough, corporate business in NYC, such as Pret or big markets, prefer to pass on the charge for paper. Some still use plastic. My issue?  Many companies buying paper bags and charging 5, 10, or 99 cents a bag, also take those bags off their taxes as a traditional “cost of doing business.”  Traditionally business had to supply bags for customers to take away their purchases. If still taking off their taxes and charging customers, they are double dipping at consumer and taxpayers’ expense.
Feelings of powerlessness?  Mediate but really consider action for a humane future. Every business change is not “progress.” Our democracy may be capitalist, but consumer revolts can bring investment in “customers” and new legislation.

Deities of South American Mythology discuss Brave New World (Aldous Huxley)
We see an Aztec deity, Quetzalcoatl, pouring tea from the teapot into a cup. On the table are plates filled with delicious cakes. QUETZALCOATL: (smiling) Today we are discussing a book that has challenged every aspect of our existence. Brave New World. All the deities take a sip of their tea and grab a piece of cake as they settle back in their chairs, ready for a lively discussion. PACHAMAMA:…
