What You Can Afford With an Annual Household Income of $150K in Kingston?
Tumblr media
Buying a home requires thoughtful planning, not impulsive decisions. A solid annual household income is crucial for making this plan a reality.
Is an annual household income of $150K sufficient? Considering both perspectives, a household income of $150,000 is notably higher than Canada’s median of $79,000. However, a 2021 Bank of Canada survey revealed that 62% of Canadians find home prices unaffordable — a valid concern. Many Canadians, even those with higher incomes, perceive $150,000 as inadequate for purchasing a home.
Here are examples of sold properties in Kingston:
299 Cavendish Crescent Sold Price: $670,000
344 Holden Street Sold Price: $560,000
234 Briceland Street Sold Price: $605,000
619–652 Princess Street Sold Price: $530,000
These are properties that have been sold, offering insights into what you can expect from a $150k annual income in Kingston. Learn more for detailed information…

Tonight we are excited to welcome @radicleherbs to the show! Tune in 8p pst anyone can stream live online ksco.com and zbsradio.com. Listen locally on AM 1080 & FM 104.1 Blaire is from Venice Beach CA, and went to Otis art school. Becoming aware of the way textiles are produced she became interested in agriculture getting her start on a Biodynamic Farm on the island of Maui. This experience forever changed her life and solidified her down the path of agriculture. She then apprenticed on a Biodynamic Farm in Sacramento, Raphael Gardens, located at what was then, Rudolf Steiner College. After this apprenticeship she wanted to try farming on her own and landed in Covelo. Daniel is from Massachusetts and also started farming in Hawaii, landing a job on a lettuce farm on the Big Island. Returning to the mainland he volunteered on a few different farms in the Eugene OR area before starting an apprenticeship at Live Power Community Farm, a horse powered Biodynamic vegetable CSA located in Covelo. Their paths came together when they met at the farmers market in Covelo and from here they embarked on an agricultural endeavour together, getting married and starting a family. With the help of Blaires parents they now are responsible for 60 acres consisting of hay fields, a woodlot, and about 2 acres under cultivation of vegetables and cannabis production. In 2018 they won the Regenerative Farm Award at the Emerald Cup with two other farms. They are currently Sun + Earth and Dragonfly Earth Medicine Certified. They had recently dropped their Demeter certification due to extensive paperwork and financial restraints but still very much practice Biodynamics. This year they will be featured in a documentary featuring two other farms (Greensource Gardens and Briceland Forest Farm). The film is a journey through a year in the life of these three family farms cultivating cannabis, food and community in the pursuit of a regenerative future. #biodynamicfarming #dempure #covelo #regenerativeagriculture #community #family #earthchurch #tendingthegarden #love #diversity #thecannabisconnectionshow #growth #wellness #cosmos #spirituality #cannabis #produce #farm #smileygreen (at KSCO AM 1080 Santa Cruz) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce7e297rcAU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Part 3: Partisanship
In the third installment of old “new media”, the question of partisanship and how newspapers effectuated a seismic shift in politics will be discussed. While “bias” in the media today is a widely debated and lamented feature of politics, we will see that mid- and late-18th century newspapers frequently operated with expressly partisan objectives.
Tumblr media
Most printing presses in the mid-18th century were family businesses. Very often a single family member or individual had to single-handedly solicit advertisements, collect payments, supervise production, and edit content (Slauter, 2015, 30). The political leanings and commercial interests of any given printer/publisher therefore found their way directly on to the newsstand. For example, Benjamin Franklin, one of America’s founding fathers and early publishing magnates who operated, among other publications, the Pennsylvania Gazette, had a habit of denying authors or advertisers space in his papers if their content threatened to arouse controversy. He would propose instead that the author pay a fee to print their material on a separate pamphlet that could be distributed alongside but distinct from the Gazette (Slauter, 2015, 31).
While publishers took great public pride in their independence and autonomy, proclaiming to reproduce the news with neutrality, this bluster was little more than a façade. The free presses of the colonies took on increasingly Anglophobic character in the antebellum period. By the late 1760s, the emerging industry which at that time was composed of only two or three dozen printers, increasingly politicized information to bolster the cause of anti-imperialism (Parkinson, 1996, 27). Information about parliamentary debates and acts in London reached colonists only after it had been filtered and interpreted for them by anti-imperialist editors and printers.
That partisanship could or should be avoided in the press was hardly even a question for early publishers. In 1790, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison established the National Gazette with the express intent of using it to “lead the Republican counteroffensive” to Alexander Hamilton’s pro-Federalist Federal Gazette (Laracey, 2008, 12). By the end of the century, the Philadelphia Aurora had a reputation as “the nation’s leading Jeffersonian organ” (Briceland, 1976, 3). No pretense of ‘balance’ or non-partisanship was sought or expected. Jefferson and Madison courted one of the more controversial newspaper editors in the newly independent colonies, Philip Freneau, whose “ferocious Anglophobia”, “violent hostility to moneyed men” and “penchant for editorial brawling” were widely known (Elkins & McKitrick, 1993, 239).
While partisanship is as old as politics, of course, the emergence of the newspaper industry in the Americas created new opportunities for political posturing. The political battle between the Federalists and Republicans played out largely in the newly independent nation’s newspapers as a battle for public opinion every bit as much as it manifested in the Congress and in Washington.
