Brooke: It needs touch. -she gently took Flynn's hand in hers, explaining, and using the spell so River could easily follow.- It's not too tricky, but it requires to be close to someone and to know how much to take, but you can feel when they start to feel tired, it's enough.. or well now, a little before he starts to feel tired, so he can get used to it slowly. 

She let's go of Flynn's hand again, pulling back, giving him a tiny smile. How many times had she done this through the years? She had thought about it so many times, to tell them, tell them everything, but she had been held back by fear that she would lose everything.. Now here she was, and she had lost them.. but not all.

Flynn: Thank you. -he took Brooke's hand after she pulled away.- I'm sorry that they were never good parents, I'm sorry you lost it all. Brooke: I still have friends, so I didn't lose everything. 

Hayden walked up to Vy, putting an arm around their shoulder, wondering what else had been written in there, what had made him go pale, he had a hunch it was not the last part. 

Hayden: We are here for you too, to help if you want. -he hoped Vy agreed, but to see her so lost, it made him want to do something for her. -

River mimicked Brooke and gave the girl a smile as he realized what she was doing. He pulled back, noticing how Flynn was starting to look exhausted. 

River: I think I got it, Brooke. Thank you.

He placed a hand over his son's shoulder, gently giving it a rub.

River: How about we get you to bed for now. So you can rest. And tomorrow, after we work on a schedule to start training this, I'll take you back to your dorm.

He would prefer to keep his son close, to make sure something like this didn't happen again. But he also understood that if his son wanted to be a vet, he needed to finish college, and was already behind after what happened to them a month back. He didn't want to put one more wall on his son's academic achievements. So, he'd work a schedule with him, and trust both Brooke and Emil to help him keep him safe. Plus, he could just teleport everywhere, so the distance wouldn't be an issue.

River: Come on... 

Noticing his son looked too tired to carry himself, River picked Flynn up and carried him to his room.

Brook literally died at 30/40, was stuck in a void and when he came out, was treated like he was with the mindset of a 90 year old.

Roger was a rookie when he passed, and when he was taken out of said void, Roger hadn’t just become a legend, he had lived, had a son, had a legacy, spawned a new age and DIED.

And that’s even before Luffy was BORN.

What a CHANGE that would be to handle, no wonder Brook is fucked up,

If you need help picturing what i mean, picture being from 1930 and suddenly being thrust into 1980+. You’d go crazy!

Some of the One Piece fanfic ideas that came to me during this long rewatch:

Charlotte Pudding and Vinsmoke Reiju travel to East Blue to visit Baratie and finally see what kind of man Zeff is. They conceal their identities, but Pudding in her mind is like: "Oh, I'm going to see my father-in-law. Gonna make a good impression!"

Various older pirates (Rayleigh, Zeff, Whitebeard, maybe even Roger) are taking aside their child proteges (Shanks, Buggy, Luffy, Sanji, Ace) to give them the Talk. The results are... varied depending who gives the Talk to who.

After this whole situation with Sanji asking Zoro to kill him if he goes insane, the Straw Hats have a large discussion about how each of them can be killed and by who, with Chopper being especially ominous and saying: "I am this ship's doctor. I know your bodies very well." and going into details about weak points of each of them.

Sengoku tells Garp that technically he also has a pirate grandson and he even is very smug about it, because his pirate grandson is also a doctor.

A day in life of doctor Tony Tony Chopper MD when he gets asked for professional opinion by Nico Robin (on archeological matter), gives dieteriary directions to Sanji and generally does a lot of things with his nakama that has a lot to do with medicine.

There was a chuckle from Brooke, she had always wondered a little how that felt, but it never seemed like it bothered her all too much. 

Hayden: How about you El, you okay with this as well?

Hayle guided El, watching him. He had glasses, and his eyes were still adjusting, but they were still natural around the kitchen. Eltanin looked towards them, trying to focus on Brooke's expression, but their sight was still extremely blurry, even with glasses on. Their grandpa was slowly guiding them on the preparation.

Eltanin: So I get an older sister? That's kinda cool! 

They confessed, and nearly said that Fannar would be thrilled to get one more sister their age. But, he imagined doing so would ruin the mood, so he didn't had that, only offering Brooke a happy smile, even though he couldn't read her expression and see if this left her happy or not.

Vy: Then, since we all... -Vy fell quiet as he knew everyone wasn't here. Fannar was missing, and Vy looked down, thinking of his older son. Missing his baby star. He licked his lips, feeling tears in his eyes. He wiped them from his eyes and tried to pass it off, working on the food-... Since we agree, then... It's settled! Welcome to the family Brooke.

As both his dad and Emil came back to bed, Flynn opened his eyes for just a second or two, smiling slightly before closing his eyes and falling back asleep. It felt right now, with both of them there.
