Favorite thing about them: Her snarky wit, her feistiness (especially when she uses it in defense of someone vulnerable), and her sheer energy and passion. Also, compared to other shows from my childhood centered around groups of kids, I appreciate that Recess included such a tough, pugnacious tomboy character without either (a) making her a bully, or (b) having her constantly humbled and taught to be nicer, or (c) giving her an explicit crush on the male lead, even if the latter is hinted at.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, sometimes her attitude can be mean.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I sometimes have a temper.

*I like to wear red.

*I like dancing and art, as "Dance Lessons" and "Spinelli's Masterpiece" reveal that she does.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I'm much more traditionally feminine than she is.

Random headcanon: When she grows up, she's going to identify as non-binary. Though whether she'll still use "she/her" pronouns or switch to "they/them" or "he/him" I don't know. I don't just think this because she's a tomboy who hates girly things, but because she gets irrationally angry whenever someone calls her "a girl" (although she has no trouble calling herself one, she just hates hearing other people say it) and because she once said that she wants to be a (presumably male) 6-foot tall bodybuilder named Moe. As a '90s kid, she just doesn't know the terms to explain who she is, but she'll learn them someday. That said, she'll always be attracted to men and men only.

Unpopular opinion: While I'm all in favor of shipping her with T.J., and I do think there are plenty of hints that the show's writers and animators did too, I also think at least a third of the "hints" listed on Recess Wiki's list are just friendship moments. They'll have plenty of time in the future to become a couple: for now, they're kids, they both want to be kids as long as they can be, and neither will admit they enjoyed their kiss in "The Experiment" even if you paid them.

Random headcanon: This kind of falls into headcanons of how void poisoning works as well but, oh well. His hands aren't the only thing that got messed up by void (ALSO. in terms of how exactly his hands are messed up, the nerves got pretty fucking fried so numbness + decrease in fine motor skills, there's also the surface level scarring in the form of stains and grooves) , His bodies temperature regulation also got FUCKED, so severe cold flashes and chills are a thing he has to deal with now. Chronic pain too, There's a lot more, but I'm still working out the specifics of void poisoning, how bad it gets, at what points, and how the symptoms differ between mortal bugs and higher beings. So there's some uncertainty there and I don't wanna say something that could change in the future (especially since the mechanics of void is probably one of if not my most detailed headcanons and I'm SUPER proud of it. Seriously I could talk about void for hours. I have become pk /j)

General Opinion over said character: I love him with every FIBER of my fucking being (thats only a slight exaggeration). The autism REALLY went brrr for this one. I am always rotating him in my head. 24/7 365 days a year. I could go on for HOURS about him. It annoys me SO MUCH how dirty the fandom did him tbh. He's SUCH a good character. I wish people would actually look at him instead of just going "hahaha buzzsaw and infanticide jokes go brrrrrr "

• Why I like them: His loyalty takes a first place here - it's a trait I treasure most in all people. I appreciate a young and brave revolutionary who was able to take a stance even before he could get into politics. Man knew what he wanted, and he not only wished to get into politics to make the world a better place - he didn't hestiate to take direct action. His political works are thoughtful and logical. I would dare to say he was also one of the few Jacobins who actually had a well-constructed plan for the future republic.

• Why I don't: We would not get along and I know it, it's a personality matter. His views often bother me, and not in terms of the revolution alone; in institutions republicaines, he gets too much into people's personal lives and I believe it's going way too far in many cases. He explains how exactly the kids should be raised, what should they eat and what occupation they can choose. He insists that women of cetrain age cannot take walks alone on holidays. I mean, why did he care? It's not your business what a young lady is doing in her free time, get your ass together Antoine.

• Favorite ancectode: growing a moustache with Le Bas this concept is so cursed

• Favorite quote (from them or about them): If all people are free, all are equal. If they are equal, they are just and To dare: that is the secret of all revolutions.

Tadeusz Kosciuszko

• Why I like them: Mans had a true heart of a Revolutionary. He believed that a country can only rise from the ashes thanks to the commoners and the proletariat, and sought help not in the governments, but in the people. Incredibly inteligent and logical, but also a huge flirt. After the American Revolution he wished for his money to be distributed to liberate and educate the black community in the USA and he openly opposed slavery. To some point he also strongly supported the French Revolution, seeing it as a chance to democratize and liberate the world. Just like Robespierre he sought political power, but not for his personal gain and pleasure but to be heard and free the people. Unlike most Polish people he believed that politics should be separated from religion and so should the laws and education. One cannot possibly hate such man ;))

• Why I don't: Fled from Paris after the Jacobins and Girondins started their beef, lowkey wish he stayed here for a while to see what could happen. Also, he became a dictator for one uprising. It was more of a Roman dictatorship than the modern one, meaning he was only taking the position for a sole purpose of leading an uprising, but still doesn't sit right with me.

• Favorite ancectode: straight up told Napoleon to fuck off, what a king.

I love this one because it's kind of what I love about Thronebreaker? Like, Meve is fighting to reclaim her home alongside bandits who she despised previously. It's a complicated dynamic and I love its potential.

Ooooh, I have so many, how to choose? Um. Let's go with some ANGST. So, my hc is that (SPOILERS FOR GASCON'S BACKSTORY) when King Reginald's men went after the Brossards, they actually surrounded the estate and then attacked, killing everyone. Gascon only survived because, just as the attack began, a kitchen boy (who he may or may not have had a crush on) told him to hide.

Later, the same kitchen boy's body is found near his father's and Gascon knows that he must have pretended to be him to protect him.

Gascon makes an absolutely shit noble. It's not that he can't manage his land - he led the Strays for years, he can manage an estate. But the actual nobility part? Yeah, he doesn't even bother to try. He LIKES being the charming rogue, the irreverent criminal.

idk she’s so fun i love everything about her. she’s complex and writes dnd fanfic about herself, go girl!!! kind of weird, but yeah baby write it!!! and she takes herself too seriously, has a complex relationship with her family and her ideals. We were SO lucky to get clover

I wouldn’t say it’s my least favourite bc I actually rlly ENJOY it as a character trait bc I think it pushes for a interesting dynamic but I dislike how she immediately, always, encourages julien to do stuff to push the class divide. yeah julien it’s a great idea to make a rule that everyone has to like you <3 I enjoy it bc it’s unhealthy and bad, and they start to grow out of it (most important bit!!!) but she never gets to completely bc she becomes a queen???? But she gets her in with like acting with the “common” people in her future husband’s tribe which…….. like ok. it also makes me feel weird that she’s got an english accent and she’s super big on monarchy lmao

it would have been nice to see her get more & more friendly with the other lemurs & even strike up tentative friendships with them. she was a “relic” of the old rule, of uncle king Julien, and her loyalty switch to julien, and learning that fun was necessary sometimes could have been expanded to show lemurs stop fearing her (ukj’s iron fist).

although we don’t rlly get it, i especially would like clover and ted to pick up a better report. clover needed to learn to respect ted tbh & ted needed more of her guidance.

i guess i should mention sage. I don’t know how I feel about them. I liked the dynamic - and the dynamic of crimson “stealing sage” and how that was tied into clover’s feelings of self worth and difficult family dynamics - but I don’t know. Clover wanted so hard to create sage into her perfect fantasy man and sage was running so hard from his past mistakes he was self flagellating and it felt like it was really set up well but they weren’t 100% sure how to finish it? going from all that development and understanding in exiled to like jealous proving themselves to married was ???? A lot . I don’t necessarily think it was bad, it’s just …… idk how I feel

even tho ahkj set up the start of the movie i kind of consider it a different universe and it wasn’t goodbye when clover left. julien United many of the kingdoms of Madagascar and I think it opened up a trade system that didn’t exist once. now the kingdoms mingle

clover comes over every second week to help train new recruits for the kingtail guard and it’s very fulfilling. the mountain lemurs are already tough and they appreciate her a & her skills a lot, but seeing the change & skills developed by the other lemurs is so satisfying for herself, afterwards the royal quartet has a fancy little luncheon and catches up.

General opinion: Literally the most underrated knight. Like. It's deleted scene canon that Arthur considers him The Whole Package. Arthur - once and Future King, self-proclaimed killing machine and the person every girl in the five kingdoms is presumably attracted to - calls Elyan The Whole Package. HOW IS IT THAT WE'VE BEEN SLEEPING ON THIS. Also his sass powers almost rivals Merlin's. As a duo they would burn Camelot to shreds.

i swear all i do all day now is just think too hard about myths and make up stories about them.......

i’d only planned in my Cronus x Rhea AU to go up to when Zeus becomes king, but thinking about Prometheus, and Hera visiting Cronus in Nyx’s cave has made me extend that storyline into the early issues Zeus faces during the beginning of his rule 😖✌

i thought about having Elpis visit Prometheus when he’s chained up, and then he tells her about this vision of the future that he’s glimpsed (i’m awarding Prometheus very minor fortune-telling skills), and how he knows that humanity will be plagued once Pandora opens that cursed box

but obviously, Prometheus can’t go down himself to humanity to save them, so he knows that the box eventually will 100% be opened, so he wants to create a new backup plan that might relieve humanity of that burden- and the backup plan is Elpis, spirit of hope.

and Prometheus tells Elpis that she can save humanity by giving them a little hope, and Elpis- because she’s such a nice and gentle soul- agrees to go inside the box... so she visits Moros (ELPIS-MOROS BROTP!!) and asks him to show her the future so that she might know how the hell she’s supposed to get into that box, and a few days later, BOOM! she’s in the box, and humanity is somewhat saved.

rascal: law and robin brotp fanfic

I have a lot of brotp Law and Robin in my fics, and one fic with them as a couple. I like the brotp interaction. Two cynical and supportive friends, but the writing is mostly in my multi-chaptered works, which are dark or canon divergent or both.

Anyway, I’m going to include an excerpt below. Robin’s painting Law’s toenails while they both chat about current and past loss and love. It’s from a three-chapter work that I don’t think will make much sense without knowing the rest of the world that it comes from, but hopefully this interchange can be followed and strikes a chord with some. I know the LawBin fans are thirsty. Post canon with canon-verse history and elements. This is an older piece.

Law sat back in the garden recliner in Robin’s backyard, a book over his face. He wasn’t in danger of burning easily in the late morning sun, but had no intention of making himself prey to melanoma. Robin perched on the edge of the recliner, holding one of Law's feet.

He'd spent the night at Robin’s in anticipation of the tea-towel convention they'd be visiting today. She’d spent the night trying to share his enthusiasm as he sat, tattooed arms spread on the table, poring over catalogues. His inked hands pointed out designs featuring disproportionate tulip-ensconced windmills, and disembodied body parts that had less to do with Dali and more to do with morticians.

She assumed all the creators were outliers. Commemorative tea-towels hadn’t quite taken the art world by storm yet, but they did remind her a little of Ryuunosuke, the very cute but badly drawn dragon that had struggled and succeeded in taking them all to the top of Zou. 

That was last night though and now, soon, they’d head off to gossip and gander with the convention organisers, the Dishcloth Dames, once she’d made Law pretty.

“These are so cute.” She pulled at the few black gnarly hairs curled on Law’s left big toe.

“Freak,” Law mumbled, moving his foot.

Robin laughed, righted Law’s foot and wiped the brush over the nail of his big toe.

“When did you last clip these?”

“What’s it to you? You’re the one who wanted to dress me up.”

“You’re the one who’s letting me. You’ve got old man’s feet, by the way.”

Law arched his bridge and Robin slapped it, held it down.

“The sexy surgeon’s pedes don’t please? You said they were cute?”

She studied languages. She had no difficulty with Law’s fancy Latin terms.

“Mmm. I wouldn’t go that far. But I guess you got those tattoos to distract from your tootsies.”

The ink on the bridges of his feet matched that on the back of his hands. She felt the arc of the bone against her palm as she admired the designs, although it was one of the more simple ones to adorn Law and, historically, definitely not his favourite.

“And yet, there you are, making them all presentable and shit.”

“Does Marco like them?”

“He’s got his kinks.”

“And . . . ?”

“They remain in the bedroom,” Law grinned. At times he thought the Phoenix liked every part of his body, though they’d never had a deep conversation about those particular extremities.

“Ah, you’re no fun.”

“I’ve been told.”

Law felt her move to the next digit.

“What colour are you painting them?”

“Tch.”

As if it could be anything but black.

“Well, you sent Chopper out for the colour once,” Law said to her silence.

Bubble gum. Robin snickered, remembering. Law peered at her from under his book, her shoulders rose and fell with laughter. He liked that violet t-shirt.

Law seemed so disinterested, and therefore, Robin guessed very trusting, when she or anyone else painted his nails. He usually paid little attention to the colour, or even the action. It was something that pleased those who found it amusing to decorate him. Just so long as they let him read whatever he was researching, he indulged them. A small compromise for a larger gain.

No way in hell could someone he didn’t trust do this, though it had been done. Robin knew that trust was hard won. Law told himself that he let them all think he was vain this way so he could go for their jugulars some other time. Plus, he liked giving the Dishcloth Dames even more to gossip about.

Thinking of Chopper, Law laughed as if the sound was rationed—a clipped exhalation. The tanuki reminded him of his navigator.

“Bepo. Lord, Bepo got it into his head once to paint me. Maybe he wanted to practice so he could surprise some lucky Mink in the future, and who better to be his chump than his ferocious captain?”

Robin turned to him for a second, curious, before proceeding to the next toe. Her extra hands manipulated Law’s foot for the best access. Law’s own hand kept the book in place. She liked that silver band he sometimes wore on his wrist—a solid link—a flash of sky reflected in the metal.

“His fine motor skills aren’t the best. You’ve seen his maps. Shachi and Penguin thought I’d amputated my own toes without the benefit of a Room.” A rumble lifted Law's chest and then dissolved. He smiled easily. The book didn’t cover all of his face.  “He even dabbed a paw print on my heel.”

“He chose red?” She loved that flash of teeth.

“Mmm. So. I guess it’s black?”

Robin finished the last toenail and told him not to move his feet about for a while. She then drew up the recliner next to his, lay on it, leant on her side and looked across. Law could be asleep for all she knew.

“Oi, talk to me endling. Of course it’s black.”

Law’s lips twitched. Only Robin could get away with that.

“So needy, terminarch. How am I meant to do that without moving?”

They may as well have just called each other Flevance and Ohara. They did at times, but neither could be feeling too off-colour when they did, or the devil fruits would come out to play. The town names as nomenclatures were off-limits to anyone else.

“Take that book off your face at least. I know you can’t read it like that.”

“Your makeup bag’s not nearby, is it?”

“Just the toes today, Dr. Death.”

Good. He was only happy for modification to go so far. He sighed, grumbled, but lifted a hand and picked the book up by its spine, and rested it—still spreadeagled—on his chest. He blinked into the sun, then tipped his head her way. Not the most comfortable of positions.

“Can I sit up?”

The grey of Law’s irises were sometimes shot through with gold. She wondered what his parents had looked like. “Give it a few.”

He turned his face skyward again, his arm over his shut lids.

“How about Luffy?” she asked. Luffy was before island living, before Law’s casual feet days. If they’d ever played around with nail polish, she’d never seen the results.

Law groaned.

Law scratched at his sideburns with his spare hand.

“He slapped it on, forgot to cap the varnish, jumped on me, bringing the sheet with him, or whatever we were lying on, wherever we were. It smeared over everything; our clothes, or more accurately, my clothes. You know, Luffy somehow always escapes his own chaos—and then he declared the whole thing stupid and boring, as if I’d dreamt up the activity and forced it on him.” Incredulity hissed through the back of his teeth.

He tapped his earrings. "Somehow the polish even managed to get on these. Nami-ya probably talked him into the whole thing for a bet."

“And you let him?”

Law didn’t need to look at Robin to know her expression; amused and bemused.

“You choose your battles.”

“Mmm.” Her captain could be quite domineering. She wondered if they were the same earrings. It wouldn’t surprise her. She’d kept the same jewellery over the years, but added to her collection with each pirates' haul. The ones that Luffy didn’t somehow swap for food.

She sat up and twisted her neck. They needed to get going soon.

“Phoenix?”

“Still trying to unearth his kinks?”

“Now that you bring it up.”

Law’s smile, the one Robin and only a few others ever saw, made her lips curve.

“I paint for him at times. I mean, my own nails. He’s got a lapis grounding stone, and his flames are blue when he’s in Zoan form. I try to match those shades—a balance between the two. Other times, I paint for myself.”

“Does he notice?” Marco had a grounding stone? But then again, they all had their talismans.

“Sometimes.”

“You don’t tell him?”

“Not always. Other things are more pressing.”

“Does he know you’re a freak?”

“I thought that was you.”

Law paused for a second. He tipped his face Robin's way again, his hand still protecting his eyes. How come she got to sit up?

“The dogs have never liked it. And you know, all that waste. It’s not really hygienic in the clinic either.”

“You operate with your toes?”

Law laughed. “When I do my hands . . . It’s not hygienic.”

Robin cast a glance at her back yard – the trees that offered privacy from the neighbours, the small pond. She enjoyed life in the New World now Luffy was pirate king.

“The dogs don’t like it, but Bepo can handle it?”

“Well, he’s a freak, too. Minks wear makeup, right?”

Robin nodded. “You say that as if it’s a bad thing.”

“Makeup?”

“Being a freak.”

“To the contrary, some of my best friends are freaks. You can’t all be Chopper.”

Law calls Robin a freak and gets away with it. heh. Perhaps. Anyway, I’ll put the link to the AO3 story as the source (just edited it in. This post has been up for long enough).  It’s actually about dogs and links back to another story, and is kinda sad, and features Robin, but is about Law and Marco, and there’s plenty of humour too. Character ask: Mickey Mouse's nemesis, Pete

Favorite thing about them: He's an excellent "love to hate him" character: imposing and ferocious, yet usually funny too. And in some iterations, he's not really a bad guy, but just a strict authority figure, a domineering suburban dad, or a small-time con artist, and sometimes he's actually friends with Mickey, Goofy, et al.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, he's usually a villain, and even when he's not, he's still a jerk. From his traditional dastardly role of kidnapping Minnie, to his treating his son P.J. like a servant in Goof Troop and its film spinoffs, he's never a nice person.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I'm heavyset.

*I have a temper.

*I can be selfish, though unlike Pete, I try not to be.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I would never do any of the dastardly or dishonest things he does.

*I don't have a son, and if I did, I wouldn't raise him to be afraid of me.

Random headcanon: A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie take place in an alternate continuity from Goof Troop: one where Pete is a single father and P.J. is an only child. I might have been tempted to believe the fan theory that Pete and Peg divorced and that Pete took custody of P.J. while Peg took Pistol, but A Goofy Movie's director Kevin Lima has disagreed with that theory. Yet while in A Goofy Movie, Peg and Pistol could theoretically just be offscreen, the sequel has Pete say that once P.J. goes to college he'll be free from "babysitting," which wouldn't make sense if Pistol were around, since she would still have been just 11 years old. So if there was no divorce, and because I don't like the darker alternative of Peg and Pistol being killed off, I'll just assume that the Goofy Movies take place in an AU: one that looks similar to Goof Troop, but where Pete and his wife divorced when P.J. was little and never had a daughter.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one.

my favorite thing about them: so many,, but Im going to go with how much he loves his friends. theres this one gif set that lives in my head rent free, its of kurt being a good friend to everyone and yes <3 this mans is an actual angel. pure heart. there's so many examples and im going to mention some of them: he gave sam some of his clothes and later on let him live in his house after his family bankrupted..that scene with karofsky in the hospital,, im not going to say more because I might cry...,, we also have that scene with rachel in the car after they saw harmony's performence,,, theres just so many examples of him being a good friend and we love to see it

random headcanon: kurt majors in european history in college. we've already discussed this, but im going to say it once again in case anybody else is interested. I realize that Kurt and Chris are not the same person but Chris' brought so much flavor into this character and I totally stole his interest in history, he said he knows the most random fun facts about European history and also he has an adorable obsession with uk. Also,, Kurt speaks french,, and is probably interested in french culture,,, it fits. Im European okay.??let me have it.

unpopular opinion: Its connected to the previous one but I don't really like the idea of Kurt going to NYADA or picking a musical theatre major in general. I like him in fashion.

Yamcha if you're still doing the character meme?

I am still doing these, and I’m enjoying it, so keep ‘em coming.   Before I start, let me promote the original post, in case anyone else wants to start their own thing.  I’d link to the OP, but I guess they deleted this from their blog, probably because their notifications went nuts.

Give me a character and I will answer:

Why I like them: Let’s be honest, Yamcha doesn’t get a lot of big “hero moments” in Dragon Ball.   Or Dragon Ball Z, or Dragon Ball GT, or Dragon Ball Su-- Look, you get the idea.   In most arcs, he’s the first one to get benched.   In tournaments, he always loses in the first round.   He spent the King Piccolo Saga recovering from a broken leg.    Against the Saiyans, he was the first one to die.  Against the Androids, he was nearly killed and had to sit out the rest of that arc.   In the Buu Sagas he was retired.    In a number of major storylines, he just isn’t there, because no one called him.

But he remains a fixture in the franchise anyway, because he’s always showing up for more.  Let’s take the Buu Saga as an example.   It didn’t surprise me to find out he had retired, mainly from a dramatic standpoint.    There’s a lot of new characters in the Buu arc, and it made sense for some of the older characters to step aside and make room for them.   But he’s still there, because he wants to see Goku one last time, and he wants to hang out with his friends and watch some of them kick the crap out of each other.   It was kind of sad to see him stay behind while the others rushed off to follow the Supreme Kai, but he’s retired, after all.    Also, they didn’t stop to fill him in on what was happening.    I suspect he might have tagged along if they asked.  

As it was, he still ended up getting involved, and he was with the Dragon Team right up until Super Buu cornered them on the Lookout.     And the next time we see him, he’s on the Grand Kai Planet with Krillin, and King Kai seriously considers sending them in to take on Buu in case Goku and Vegeta can’t get the job done.   

And that’s a big deal, because it even comes up in the anime.   King Kai tells them that he arranged for them to keep their bodies as a precaution, but he’s totally in favor of letting them remain on the Grand Kai Planet with all of the other honored warriors, like Goku.  So you start with this desert bandit, a highwayman without a highway, probably because he’s afraid of all the women that use the interstate.   But he gradually overcomes his fears and insecurities, never completely, but just enough to put one foot in front of the other and become a better man.    And finally he ends up receiving a place among the great heroes of old.  

So why doesn’t that get more attention?   You could make a whole epic story out of that, except it’s not Yamcha’s story.  He’s a supporting character.   So the franchise itself tends to play it down.    Even Yamcha doesn’t really take it all that seriously.   I don’t know if that’s modesty or cluelessness or Big Himbo Energy or what, but that’s why it’s so easy for everyone to write him off as a loser or a failure.   They’re overlooking the bigger picture.

The best way to illustrate this is with this TFS short that serves as an epilogue to their DBZ Abridged series.   Yamcha goes back to playing baseball for the Taitans, only to get fired, because he’s so talented that he’s literally broken the game, and no one buys tickets anymore.    But he gets a gigantic severance package, and he still goes down in history as the greatest ballplayer in history.  What always gets to me is that they have to explain to him that this is actually a win.  As his coach puts it, “you do nothing but win.”   

Like Yamcha himself, we often see him from the lens of these insane Dragon Ball adventures, where you have to have glowy hair and a hot cyborg wife to be considered a success.   But to the rest of the world, he’s a jacked up millionaire with fantastic hair, and he’s a real sweetheart.   Who couldn’t like this dude?

Why I don’t: As you may have noticed, I tend to only use this section to talk about why I disliked the characters initially.   I have to think back to 1999 when I was still having trouble keeping track of who’s who.   In particular, I found Yamcha’s presence frustrating because he looked and dressed almost exactly like Goku, but not quite, which seemed bizarre.    Later, I picked up on the context, and it didn’t bother me as much.  

Yamcha does have a bit of an overconfident streak in some situations, which might look like unfounded arrogance, but I think it’s really just his carefree nature and enthusiastic can-do spirit.   He was confident about their chances against the Saiyans, but I don’t think that was him being cocky.   He just knew they had all trained hard and he was stronger than he’d ever been.    But that’s easy for people to jump on as a reason to hate the guy.  

Future Trunks claimed that he fooled around while he was involved with Bulma, but come on.    Does anyone really buy that?    Besides, at best, that would only apply to Future Yamcha, the one who died in the other timeline.   Once Trunks changed the past, all bets were off.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): I’m gonna get a little nuts here and go with TFS’s playthrough of Legacy of Goku I, where they decided to level up Yamcha and have him solo Broly.

Basically, in an RPG game like this, Wolf Fang Fist can do monster damage, so they maxed out Yamcha’s stats to wreck the game’s hidden superboss.  You have to skip to 1:40:00 or so to see the successful attempt, but I loved this video.   This is where I learned to respect the utterance of “Roga... fufuken!”  Broly probably would have respected it, too, except he died from all those hits he took.

Favorite season/movie: You know, that fight with Tien was a classic.   Not sure it’s in my top ten, but it’s on a lot of people’s lists, and I absolutely get that.

Dumb as it may sound, I enjoyed seeing Yamcha in the hospital, wrestling with his own despair as he recuperated from his broken leg.   And when he shows up at the end to congratulate Tien and accepts Tien’s apology, well, like I said, Yamcha has this great character arc, but it’s easy to overlook with everything else that goes on.

Favorite line: I forget which game it was in, maybe Budokai 3, but one of his pre-fight taunts is “Watch this, Puar!  I’m gonna win!”, which always makes me think of Puar sitting just off-camera, watching the action from a little lawn chair.  

Favorite outfit:

I may take some heat for this, but I like the Androids/Cell Saga version of Yamcha, with the short, spiky hair.  This dude’s long, luxurious rockstar ‘do is a national treasure, sure, but I dig this look more.  

Also, I consider Yamcha to be the only guy from the Turtle School who pulls off the slippers and no-blue-undershirt look.   It looks off when I see it on Krillin and Goku, but with Yamcha it just feels right. 

OTP: This guy gets shipped with a lot of people, probably because he’s one of the major characters without an established love interest.   Folks still carry a torch for Bulma, some people ship him with Tien, Frieza hit on him in FighterZ, and I’m still trying to make sense of that.   He flirts with your character in the Xenoverse games.    Years ago, I considered doing something with that, but I’ve fleshed out my OC enough to where I don’t think that fits. 

At the end of the day, I can only see Yamcha getting together with @cozymochi ‘s OC, Marzi.  

Brotp: Tien, Krillin, Goku.  Hell, I always figured Yamcha was one of the few people Vegeta could get along with to some extent.  

I mean, Tien couldn’t stand to be one the same planet as Vegeta, but Yamcha keeps coming over to have hot dogs at Bulma’s place, long after the Namekians have left.  

Head Canon: He’s Luffa’s type, don’t get me wrong.    I just don’t see any room in my fic for a whirlwind courtship.    The stars just don’t align.

Unpopular opinion: I’m not really behind this notion that they should give the humans more stuff to do in future series.   When it comes to supporting characters, sometimes they get phased out, and there’s no point in phasing them back in unless there’s a compelling story idea for them.   

I think it’s dumb how they teased Yamcha in the Tournament of Power prelude, only to leave him out of the tournament itself.    On the other hand, they put Tien on the team and barely used him, which tells me that even if they’d put Yamcha on the team, it wouldn’t have amounted to anything.   

I get it, people love these characters and want to see them used more, but I’d rather have one strong Yamcha story than a hundred non-starters.  And at this point, I think the only thing anyone can do is rely on fan-created content.    Be the change you want to see in the world.

A wish: Crap, it’s after ten pm.    I dunno, I wish Marzi was canon.  

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I feel like the character’s already been through worse than I could come up with for him.
