#bruce seems like the type to not often get obsessed with things like songs but when he does he gets it BAD

The fun game of which headcanon would I like better:
A) one of the batkids playing welcome to the black parade by MCR and Bruce knowing every word cause of course he does, he went through an emo phase (he's still in his emo phase), he listened to it on repeat when it came out to the point that even Alfred can recite the lyrics, it was his inspiration for the Batman mantle
Or
B) one of the batkids playing welcome to the black parade by MCR and Bruce BECOMING obsessed with it, like he's never heard it before but the lyrics hit him hard and he then forces anyone near him to listen to it on repeat for weeks cause he plays it everywhere he goes, he gets into all their other songs, and he, as a middle aged father of 7, goes through the MCR black parade aspect of his emo phase

1970′s Bond films ranked
the 1970′s are reallly were an interesting peiod for Bond .Lot of trend chasing  and films that range from camp to big spectacles .Also it’s interesting cause even if the films are flawed,I dont dislike the 70′s Bond films
5.Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
Connery’s last time as Bond....Unless you count Never Say Never Again.....Or the From Russia With  Love video game-LAst time in an official Bond film! It’s often callled Connery’s worst but I dunno  I like it better then You Only Live Twice or   Thunderball .Like it’s not great but it’s overhated .Yes the effects are bad !Yes it is jarring as hell to watch this AFTER On Her Majesties Secret Service  with how campy and tacky this film is.Yes, Tiffiny is dumb!Yes,Plenty’s death comes out of nowhere ! Yes Vegas is kind of a lame setting for a Bond adventure !.......Buuuuuuuuut I dig the campiness ,I think Connery is  better here then he was in You Only Live Twice ,Jill St John delivers a fantastic performance (She is fun to watch ) ....And I might get hate for this but I  kind of love Charles Grey as Blofeld ,he is so camp it’s hard for me not to love him .But my favorite thing about the movie and probabbly why I dont hate it like everyone else does is I love the films heavies Mr Wint and Mr Kidd .They are an assassin couple who share a dark sense of humor ,and I just adore Bruce Glover and Putter Smith performances ,with Glover being very smooth and slimey as Wint while Smith is very flat and matter of fact as Kidd, they compliment eachother well.I dunno I know people hate this movie but  I cant bring myself to HATE it
Tumblr media
4.The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Hoooooo boy  Imma have to explain myself here....I know this is considered one of the BEST Bond movies......It just does very little for me .It’s a well made movie,Carley Simons theme song is great ,Roger Moore is fantastic  ,the sets are gorgeous and Jaws is one of the best henchmen in the series ,being bothe scary but also strangely likeable (Being one of only three recurring villains in the entire franchise ),the story of two agents from opposing factions being forced to work together is great......But the Bond Girl and villain suuuuuuuucccccck.Triple X is supposed to be Bonds equal ,but she is just a damsel in distress most of the time  and Barbra Bach is so wooden .Stromberg is one of the lamest villains  ,Curd Jurgens is too subdued ,we dont reallly get a great dynamic between him and Bond  ,and he’s just not in the movie a lot .The film itself doesnt wow me....But I think it’s a good movie ,I think it’s a good starter Bond film ,just kind of meh for me personally
Tumblr media
3.The Man With The Golden Gun(1974)
Ok.....This film is flawed. The Writing on Bond is too mean,Roger Moore seems uncomfortable ,Goodnight is about as intelligent as a rock ,and the main evil scheme doesnt fit with the personality of the villain, feeling very shoehorned in .That said ,I stilll like this film a lot .Maude Adams as Scaramangas mistress  is a tragic characer and a great performance ,there are many  memorable scenes including an impressive car stunt ,Soon-Tek Oh (Who most will know as the father in Mulan ) as Lieutenant Hip is one of my favorite Bond allies .Above alll else the villains are what make this film.Herve Villechaize is fantastic as the henchman Nick Nack who works for the  villain ,Scaramanga but under the understanding that if Scaramanga dies he inherits Scarmangas island home (Which is an AWESOME villain lair complete with a deadly  fun house ).Francisco Scaramanga is my FAVORITE Bond villain, played EXCELLENTLY by Christopher Lee ,a dark mirror of James Bond ,a deadly assassin who loves to kill ,views Bond as his equal and is a deadly shot with his signature golden gun .One of my favorite scenes in the film is where Scaramanga details his backstory of befriending an elephant in the circus ,it’s a great villain origin. It’s a flawed film and  I wont disagree that  Spy Who Loved Me is technically better ,but I just enjoyed this film more, and it’s a fun film to me
Tumblr media
 2.Moonraker(1979)
Well I imagine most of my oppinions are unpopular ones so here we go.....This is one of my FAVORITE Bond movies.....Yes,the one where he is in space is one of my favorites .In truth the finale in space is kind of where my attention starts to drift ,but I honestly love this movie .I love the relationship between Bond and Holly Goodhead ,Roger Moore is at his best , Jaws is back which is awesome(And gets his own mini  subplot about falling in love ,which is adorable),lot of great action, space battles ,and one of my favorite Bond villains Hugo Drax,a meglomaniac who wants to start a master race ,he’s very  quiet and reserved while still having this larger then life melodramatic air to him. He also has such a fun  dynamic with Bond a ,obsessed with giving Bond,in his words ,an“Amusing death “ .Surprisingly there are some great scenes of horror in this film, while also having fun campy scenes .Yeah this film can be silly  but I like silly, and I like this movie .....Theme song sucks though
Tumblr media
1.Live and Let Die
This  was my first Bond film so naturally it holds a special place in my heart .It’s a good intro Bond film ,for it being Roger Moores first film as Bond he comes in swinging ,he is great in this movie.I love Jane Seymour as the Bond Girl Solitaire ,with a sympathetic backstory (Although there is one plot element that is kind of cringey and skeevy ).David Hedison plays Felix Leiter and is in my oppinion the BEST Felix (So glad they brought him back for Licence to Kill ) .The film also introduces Sheriff JW Pepper ,who is a love him or hate him type character and honestly he is so over the top and qoutable ,I kind of love this goofy character .The villain ensamble is great ,with Whisper (a man who speaks only in a whisper) and Tee Hee ( a man with a mechanical claw for an arm and who constantly laughs ) being fun henchmen. The big baddie Kananga I feel is an underratted villain ,with Yaphet Koto giving the character a sense of charm and intelligence but with a rage bubbling under the surface .However the scene stealing character is  Geoffrey Holder as Baron Samedi,he only has a few lines and is only in a few scenes but Holders physicality ,imposing stature ,bombastic laughter ,natural charisma, help bring this very strange and enigmatic character to life .Set pieces are magnificent including a double decker bus chase ,a boat chase ,and a memorable scene involving an aligator farm .(Also film contains,my favorite villain death in the series .or at least the bad guy  death that has stuck with me the most cause.....It is so bizarre ) .This film is one of my favorite Bond films....AND THAT THEME SONG SLAPS

Shit i really liked and kinda didn’t like about Ragnarok
I recently saw ragnarok and became so rejuvenated that i brought my marvel blog back but i wanted to seriously talk about like things that i liked and really didn’t just to get shit out there.
Things i really liked (like so much that i am obsessed)
-Thor’s new hair cut/outfit, i think its actually super suitable. Gives that sort of cool ass warrior refugee look. Plus, Chris Hemsworth is beautiful.
-The humor, oh god it was hilarious, i’ve never laughed so genuinely and so much in my life and it made the movie so charming and relatable. It was also such a departure from The Dark World and the first Thor, which dealt with so much emotional baggage for not only just Thor, but for Loki, who basically suffered throughout both movies.
-Hulk being an actual toddler/Bruce Banner being so fucked up and anxious because WHEN DID HE GET ON AN ALIEN PLANET.
-”You’ve been on other planets before i assume” “Yeah, one!” “well now it’s two”
-Valkyrie. Her entire everything gave me so much to love and adore. Tessa Thompson has stole my heart yet again.
-TAIKA WAITITI AS KORG WAS ACTUALLY SO FUNNY
-The little tiny glimpses of Loki and Thor’s childhood, aka the snake story, get help. It really showed how much time Loki and Thor had spent together, which i assume is a lot because age in Asgardian years work differently probably? Like imagine that, Loki and Thor spending time together and being inseparable for 100 years. It showed that they were always close despite loki feeling different or alienated, which explains why its so hard for Loki to just leave thor for dead.
-”You’ll always be the god of mischief, but you can be so much more” See that shit destroyed me. Thor acknowledges that Loki is not like him. He’s a trickster, manipulative, and selfish. But he also acknowledges that Loki is so much more than his tricks and lies, which shows so much character growth in Thor, who sees loki as more than just an asgardian prince that was raised the exact same way opposite of Thor, but as his own fucking person.
-Thor actually not being stupid and falling for Loki’s tricks, aka his magic projections of himself/his petty, stupid betrayals. Tom mentioned that Thor was evolving and that Loki was finally starting to realize that he’s the only one not growing. Scenes like the betrayal scene and the snake scene, although meant to be hilarious, point out that Thor isn’t that idiot that just was too trusting of his brother, he sees through Loki’s tricks, he’s seen them for years, and it really shows that Loki’s getting predictable with his fake deaths and betrayals, which might hint at him changing?
-IT FIXED THE INCONSISTENCIES. The main reason i didn’t like Dark world, though i did see it as amazing for its ability to mix the emotional darkness between Loki and Thor along with the humor throughout the movie, was because it pointed Loki out to be the type of cold blooded monster that would murder his own father. I mean I’m no Loki apologist, i love the kid but he’s killed, he’s manipulated, he’s hurt everyone around him, but i doubt he could ever kill Odin, no matter how much of a shitty father he is. Also low-key hated the whole “Loki if you betray me, ill kill you” Thor bullshit. We all know thor wouldn’t be able to do that, he still hopes Loki is his brother.
-AGAIN, THE SNAKE SCENE WAS SO FUNNY.
-”I thought the world of you Loki.” Ouch.
-Hulk and Val’s bromance.
-The entire Valkyrie v. Hela scene. It was so beautiful and ethereal i actually nutted.
-LOKI DIDN’T NEED TO COME BACK. HE DIDN’T NEED TO GO BACK TO THE SHIP WITH THOR. HE DIDN’T NEED TO GO BACK TO ASGARD. HE COULD HAVE NOT. BUT HE DID. BECAUSE SOMEWHERE IN THERE UNDER THE SELFISHNESS MAYBE HE CARES.
-Loki’s face when odin called him his son.
-Loki’s face when Hela told him to kneel.
-Loki refusing to let Thor go back to Asgard. “Are you serious? you can’t be thinking of going back there, that’s madness!” is that? Loki cARING?
-Loki’s character development.
-thor in a jean jacket and hoodie in new york.
-Thor spilling beer everywhere.
-Loki letting Thor take the orgy ship.
-Jeff Goldblum. Thats it.
-LOKIS FACE WITH THOR AND ODIN ON THE ROOF OF THE CASTLE I SCREmed AFTER ALL LOKI DID HE WAS STILL PUT THERE AS A PRINCE OF ASGARD BYE.
-”Hello father” “OH SHIT”
-The entire play. Loki’s rule as a benevolent god/king in which, before everyone feared him for a dictatorship militaristic form of ruling he could have, but in reality he just like ate grapes and watched plays.
-Thor wanting to be a Valkyrie. The crowned prince of asgard, wanting to be an elite team of woman warriors.
-VAL IS GAY AND IN TESSA THOMPSONS WORDS, HAD A GIRLFRIEND THAT SACRIFICED HERSELF TO SAVE HER.
-Val kicking Loki’s ass.
-THE RETURN OF THE DOUBLE BLADES OUT OF NOWHERE.
-Loki in a suit.
-HEIMDALL I LOVEJWIFHTGE.
-”I thought you didn’t want to talk about it” “heres the thing”
-”Hello!” “Hi” *blasts everyone in room with giant laser guns*
-”What are you? Thor, god of hammers?”
-IMMIGRANT SONG.
-”i swear i left him right here” “where? on the street? Or in that nursing home thats being torn down?”
“I’m not a witch” “Why do you dress like one then?”
-Loki rolling his eyes when thor is approached by fans.
-Loki calling stephen strange a shitty sorcerer and going at him with stabby hands.
-Confirmation of loki’s love of stabbing.
-Confirmation that Loki is a snake, and also Thor’s favorite snake.
-Loki reciting Thor’s prayer to odin with him mY SON.
-The avengers parallel. “He’s my brother!” “adopted.”
-”mbLERG ITS ME”
-”AGH LOKI!”
-’DIRECT ME TO WHO’S ASS I HAVE TO KICK”
-”Where? the devil’s anus?”
-Bruce fighting evil with fireworks. Good job sweetie.
-Bruce flopping like a fish on the bifrost.
-Thor and his sparkles.
-Lightning eyes.
-Odin finALLY DYING. THANK GOD.
-*Loki on a death trip* ‘this is a terrible idea”
-Loki somehow reciting a spell to bring surtur back. what a weirdo. how did he know that.
-LOKI COMING BACK.
-im here.
-Loki
-Brodinson.
-Thor and Bruce’s bromance.
-Jane not being there. I mean it makes sense she dumped him, he left her for two years chasing down infinity stones and constantly almost dying while she had no way of contacting him because Thor’s ass didn’t know how to use fucking email. Also i just really honestly never liked her character to begin with, i mean sure i love that Jane is a strong, smart woman but tbh i just wanted to Fast forward every time she was on screen.
-The cute death wolf.
-”THATS HOW IT FEELS!” “sorry i just really like the sport”
-THOR ACTUALLY BEING PORTRAYED AS LESS OF A JERK WITH CACTUSES SHOVED UP HIS RECTUM AND MORE LIKE THE SWEET, CHARMING, CHARISMATIC AND SLIGHTLY ARROGANT BUT MEANS WELL MAN HE IS.
-Val being there as a cool as member of the team rather than just the love interest of Thor. Protect her at all cost even though she probs doesn’t even need it.
-”I’VE BEEN FALLING FOR THIRTY MINUTES”
-Stan Lee’s cameo as the dude who cut Thor’s hair. Thank you for doing all of us a giant favor. Please do the same to Loki.
-loki beating someone up with his horn hat.
-Loki twirling his horn hat.
-Loki being such a self serving, extra asshole that he came from the fucking fog screaming “YOUR SAVIOR HAS ARRIVED”
-Bruce asking where tony was and then complaining about his tight crotch pants.
-LOKI’S COSTUME CHANGE GOD I HATED THE OLD ONES BLESS UP.
-Loki’s costume being mainly blue, black, and gold :-)))))))
-Loki being 100% done with everything that happens.
-Val knocking Loki out when he makes her relive her trauma why do people ship this you go honey that was a dick move
-Thor throwing various things at Loki to make sure he’s not a mirage.
-he’s a friend from work, something a kid from make a wish that met chris suggested, being in the film and all of the trailers. I hope that made that kid smile.
-”In return, i wish to be granted safe passage through the anus”
-LOKI FINALLY ACCEPTING THAT HE DIDN’T WANT THE THRONE WITHOUT A FAMILY. THAT HE’D RATHER WATCH HIS BROTHER TAKE IT AND STILL HAVE A BROTHER THAN HAVE A THRONE WITH NO ONE TO SHARE IT WITH.
-LOKI SHOWING UP ON SCREEN DURING THOR’S CORONATION.
-Loki being genuinely worried about and double checking if Thor really wants to bring him back to earth after what he did kill me honestly that would probably hurt less.
-Loki’s face when thor said that going their separate ways was what Loki always wanted bc in reality that is the opposite go back.
-Hela not being Loki’s daughter because 1) it proves that ya’ll should stop hoping that a comic soap opera about rich petty alien boys with daddy issues would be anything like classic norse mythology, and 2) when the fuck and how the fuck and why the fuck
-Loki suggesting that he and Thor both rule over Sakaar together lmao ouch.
-Loki just being really cute and quirky.
-Thor being so fucking amazed by Val all the time.
-”You’re late.”
-”I saw you coming” “course you did.”
-THE GUNS NAMED DES AND TROY I WANTED TO FUCKING DIE.
What i didn’t like much;
-Hela. I loved her character, but honestly here is where i think there might’ve been some failure despite how much i loved that movie. She seemed so out of place as a villain, and i feel like the whole related shit tried to mimic Guardians vol. 2, but honestly the fact that Thor didn’t care much about her made her feel so out of place. But i did like some parts, like how she was so disappointed about not being remembered or what her existence and disappointment did to how loki was raised.
-Dr. Strange? Ok that was weird. It makes sense and it was funny to see him but to be honest i wasn’t into it.
-tHE SCENE WITH VAL AND A GIRL BEING CUT. WHYWHYWHY
-tbh was not fond of frost master, don’t hate me.
-Loki possibly taking the tesseract????? And hinting that he might turn evil again??? don’t do this to me marvel.
-loki possibly being turned into the quirky sidekick of his brother. Loki is Thor’s equal, not his annoying little brother/wacky sidekick. I didn’t get that vibe often, but sometimes i did honestly.
-RIP thor’s hammer.
-ODIN BEING A PIECE OF SHIT YET AGAIN.
-Hela’s entrance. it was so quick and like out of place i was like what wait, Loki and thor didn’t even have time to prepare or even mourn.
-the comedy. It was its best and worst part of the movie. Sometimes it was tasteful. Other times it was too much. Thor and Loki didn’t even get to mourn for their dad who tbh was an asshole but still their dad before there was a annoying joke about kneeling. It took away from the story sometimes.
-the lack of hugging between thor and loki.
-The way they glossed over the warriors three’s death like they weren’t Thor’s closest friends and the only ones there for him when Odin tried to banish Thor to earth :-))))) I mean after all that shit he went through I’m pretty fucking sure it probably hasn’t caught up to him but ya bitch still pissed.
-The way, Thor, who basically admitted that Loki actually meant the world to him and was the only family he had left, didn’t ask where he was after asgard exploded? Like tbh i get it, he trusts Loki, his brothers capable and strong and most of all really fucking smart, but i’d still be like :-) the fuck is Loki. I think this is a directing error though rather than like the characters fucking up but i was freaking out, i mean asgard was literally pebbles and everyone was out BUT my son.
-No sif, i mean i get it Jaime Alexander was busy but like y'all could’ve explained smh.
-Loki not getting a hair cut. When will his emo phase end.
-Not getting that one flashback to 80′s asgard with mullets and emo loki.
Overall it was pretty fucking cool, one of the best movies of the trilogy. I fell in love with the marvel cinematic universe all over again. But it wasn’t perfect.

10 Questions with Photographer Nicole Fara Silver
Tumblr media
For the next installment in our 10 Questions series we caught up with New York-based music photographer Nicole Fara Silver. Whether she’s shooting a concert, portraits, or covering a band on tour, Nicole’s passion for both music and photography come through in her work, and clients such as the New York Times, Rolling Stone and NME have taken notice. We talked about the highs and lows of freelancing, her favorite musicians to shoot live, and how she got to the point she’s at today.
1. Tell us about your first camera and some of your earliest experiences shooting.
My first camera was an Olympus D-380 that my parents gave me for the holidays when I was twelve years old. At that time I was more invested in my swimming career so the camera sat on a shelf until I entered high school. My freshman year, due to a series of injuries and a surgery, I was faced with a decision: Do I go back to swimming six days a week or do I put that aside and live a normal high school life? I chose high school, but a funny thing happened: I realized that after all those years of being isolated in the pool, I had become REALLY shy. My camera became my security blanket and taking photos of my friends became a way to connect when I had nothing to say during lunch. Around the same time, my love of music intensified. I fell in with the band kids at school and spent hours in my friend's basement when they had band practice just hanging out and taking pictures. I'd go to all their gigs. I started going to more and more in-stores at Tower Records and Virgin Records (RIP) to shoot and meet bands. Then I saw Almost Famous, started reading Rolling Stone, and discovered (aka: became obsessed with) the photography of Baron Wolman, Henry Diltz, Linda McCartney, Jim Marshall and Bob Gruen. Beyond my love and devotion to the music itself, I was fascinated with the preservation of its history. That blew my mind, and here we are.
Tumblr media
2. Did you have any mentors or photographers who inspired you when you were starting out?
I've never had a mentor in the traditional sense, but I've always wanted one! I have had conversations with people along the way that have been eye-opening and beyond helpful -- my friends and I are constantly sharing our experiences so in a way they are all my mentors.
3. You have worked with a wide range of editorial and commercial clients such as Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Billboard, and Pandora, to name a few. Describe your evolution into becoming a professional photographer and how you got to the point you’re at today.
After I graduated college, I spent a few years working off and on as a photo editor and researcher at various publications. I also spent time working in the studio services department of a few photo studios around the city. At night, I ran a music blog with my best friend -- we did artist interviews, filmed acoustic videos, shot concerts and wrote reviews. It was an invaluable experience that allowed me to build my book while learning to appreciate every facet of the photo industry until I was ready to take a bet on myself and go out on my own.
Tumblr media
4.  As someone who has probably seen countless shows, whose live performance stands out the most in your mind in terms of making photos?
Whenever an artist gives it their all, I'm a happy little photographer. It's very hard for me to connect with an artist if they lack energy -- I am very sensitive to it and I can tell when an artist doesn't care on stage. If they don't care, I don't care, and it doesn't matter to me who you are. I almost walked away from a Paul McCartney show once because I could tell he wasn't having fun (I stayed, he started to have fun, it was great). Cage The Elephant is always amazing -- they're probably one of my favorite acts to shoot. Dave Grohl. Silvertide. Glen Hansard. Shakey Graves. Bruce Springsteen. Sturgill Simpson. Twin Peaks. Savages. Benjamin Booker. I could go on and on and on and on....
5. Is there any subject matter you haven’t photographed yet but would like to?
I am really happy with the subject matter I am lucky enough to work with. At the end of the day, all I want to do is be near the music, the people making the music, and the people loving the music. I want to tell their stories. I would like to continue exploring portraiture and see where that takes me. I'd also love to get back into video and I would really love to shoot more whimsical lifestyle-type things.
Tumblr media
6. What have been some of your highs and lows as a freelance photographer?
I am so grateful to be able to do what I love that every day is a high, even when it's low. That being said, it is incredibly frustrating having an image stolen by a publication or an artist or their label, only to discover it being used it for promotional purposes without anyone getting in touch. The licensing of images works the same way as the licensing of songs, only these days people seem to think that if they are in the photo or they found it on Google, they have the right to use it however they please. In reality, they are just violating copyright. Planning, taking and editing photos is work, it takes time, and it’s how I make my living. Treating it otherwise is simply disrespectful.
7. Many aspiring photographers may not have the funds available for all the camera and lighting accessories they may want. Did you have to deal with this early on in your career?
Rent, rent, rent! It's always taken me a long time to save for new gear (and it oftentimes involves selling old gear to help pay for newer gear) -- but until I get to the point where I can buy something for myself, or until it gets to the point where I need the gear so often that buying it ends up being a more practical option, I rent whatever I need.
Tumblr media
8. Tell us a bit about your 'Scrapbook' project for events like the Newport Folk Festival and the Billboard 100 Festival.
Last summer I was feeling disconnected and frustrated. Everything around me was so digital. I wanted to slow down. I wanted to start making things with my own two hands again and I wanted to make real connections with my subjects again. At the last minute, my pitch to go to Newport Folk Festival was approved, and through a series of discussions with my editor, we decided to bypass regular coverage in favor of doing something that paid homage to the historic, unique festival. I woke up the following morning in a tizzy and sent an email off with my idea. The next thing I knew, I was on my way to Newport armed only with my Polaroid camera, several packs of Impossible color film, and a bag full of arts and crafts supplies! It ended up being an incredible and fun experience which allowed me to connect with artists in a new way, and by the end of the weekend, "Heartbreakers and Hell Raisers" was born. I was thrilled to make a second book at Billboard Hot 100 Festival and I am even more excited to continue doing the scrapbooks throughout the year.
9. What is the best piece of advice you’ve received in terms of following your passion and moving ahead creatively?
I have received so many great pieces of advice and they were all the best for when I needed them. Right now it's "don't be too precious with your work". There are hundreds of photos sitting on a hard drive that no one has ever seen because I am my own worst critic and I'm healthily suspicious of the internet. It's a constant struggle for me... but I'm working on it!
Tumblr media
10. What are your plans for the rest of the year? (any exciting plans or projects in the works?)
Part of the fun of freelance life is never really knowing what the universe is going to throw at you. I'm looking forward to continuing my portrait work, and to busy festival / scrapbook season!

Bruce Springsteen and the mega-fans who tour the sector to see him
New Post has been published on https://pressography.org/bruce-springsteen-and-the-mega-fans-who-tour-the-sector-to-see-him/
Bruce Springsteen and the mega-fans who tour the sector to see him
At the give up of final 12 months, Invoice Donohoe had visible Bruce Springsteen play 113 times.
Via the end of the Australian leg last Saturday of The Boss’ 2017 present day tour, that variety had upward thrust to a hundred twenty-five – after he went to each gig across the Tasman.
The 50-12 months-antique undertaking manager from Sydney’s northern beaches is a Bruce tramp – that’s the name for a tough-middle Springsteen fan, based totally on one in all his first-class recognized lyrics: “tramps like us, baby we have been born to run”.
Donohoe is shy approximately revealing how a good deal he spent on the tour, including air tour and lodging, however as pit tickets – and, of path, that is wherein he changed into at each show, as near the stage as he could get – value about AUS$250 and he attended all 12 concerts, you may start calculating from there. All of which increases one easy query: Why?
Nicely, when you have to ask, then you definitely likely no longer within the church of the Boss. As Stephen Metcalf wrote for Slate in 2005: “Springsteen is now not a musician. He’s a belief system. And, like every perception device really worth its salt, he brooks no in-among. You are either in or You are out.”
Donohoe and the opposite trustworthy are most virtually in. Whilst you speak to them you begin to apprehend the intensity of their love for the sixty seven-year-antique from New Jersey with a blond Fender Telecaster slung around his neck. For a begin, he performs for extra than 3 hours every night – at one marathon gig in Helsinki in 2012, he topped four hours. That might be a persistence test for a performer half his age, however, his dedication to pushing beyond his limits and taking the crowd with him is famous Unique Press.
He’s additionally keen on shaking things up from night to night time, changing his mind mid-overall performance approximately what to play and throwing in rarities from his giant lower back catalog, plenty to the delight of individuals who obsessively pore over set lists. Once in a while, he will play requests, reading titles off the signs that lovers are keeping up in the crowd. On his final Australian tour in 2014, he even chose a distinctive neighborhood cover to play in each town, pulling out songs By way of AC/DC, The Easybeats, INXS and The Bee Gees.
Eventually, He’s an artist who transcends his recorded paintings inside the live placing, connecting musically, spiritually and even bodily, often surrendering himself to the group and permitting them to convey his body across their outstretched arms
It’s that sense of inclusion, communion, and the party that offers his live shows such power. It is no accident that in Tramps Like Us: Track and Which means among Springsteen fanatics, a 1998 e-book Via Daniel Cavicchi, the 2 maximum common words utilized by fanatics to describe the sensation at his shows have been “nonsecular” and “spiritual”.
The primary Springsteen mega-fan changed into Jon Landau, a Tune critic who was beginning to feel that On the age of 27 he was getting too vintage for rock Song. He saw Springsteen play in May also 1974, then went domestic and in a rhapsodic piece that becomes element memoir, component evaluates, typed the maximum famous sentence ever written about the man – “I saw rock’n’roll future and its call is Bruce Springsteen.” Landau went on to come to be his supervisor, co-producer, and confidant.
Nick Hornby, the author of High Fidelity, the last novel about Song fandom, has been vocal through the years approximately his love of Springsteen. He maintains that seeing him play at the River tour in 1981 at Wembley Arena stays the single best live performance he has visible Through any performer. In his 2002 e-book,31 Songs, he discovered that he has performed Thunder Road, the opening track on Born to Run, more than another song.
And but, Hornby isn’t completely blinkered in his fandom. He admits that When you spoil that music down it has factors that are overwrought, so confronted and even corny. but he nonetheless loves it. “Even though I’m no longer American, not young, hate automobiles and might understand why so many people locate Springsteen bombastic and histrionic …Thunder Road by hook or by crook manages to talk for me,” he wrote.
