Some people dream of waking up to find out that they've become famous overnight. One morning, you wake up to find that you've become famous for all the wrong reasons and it is all because of someone more famous than you've ever dreamt of becoming.

You woke up warm and content, the light softly diffusing into the room. You thought you’d been dreaming about something nice, something that was making the faint morning light look extra welcoming, but then you realized that there was music coming from somewhere. As you force yourself to get up and greet the day, you correct your previous thought; you weren’t in your apartment in your small town, but you were in Justin Timberlake’s secret apartment in one of the skyscrapers on Billionaire’s Row in Manhattan. The apartment ‘in the clouds’ you’d come to call it in your code-heavy texts with him. The music, no the ringing, starts playing again as you reorient yourself to the room you should have remembered that you’d be waking up to. In the past few months, you’d come to stop being surprised to see a sleeping Justin Timberlake lying in the bed next to you. You'd been doing it off and on, in New York and other major cities all over the US since you'd become his mistress several months ago. You were no stranger to waking up swaddled in luxurious sheets, the satin pillowcases he’d insisted on having, and the oaky and spice smell of the cologne Justin wore when he was here with you.  

The ringing stopped again and you finally began to wonder where the phone was. You knew it wasn’t your phone. You’d let Justin think you were doing what he’d asked by leaving your ringer off but your phone was almost always on vibrate. Memories of last night came flooding back to you. The opera. The thick hot chocolate coffees and flakey croissants at the cafe. Talking late into the night about you and Sebastian Stan with Justin. Why you’d never seemed happy, according to Justin. It was a nice night considering it was supposed to be a different night ‘in the clouds’. 

The phone started ringing again and you finally got up to find it. 

When you got back last night, you and Justin stripped out of your formal wear opting for comfortable loungewear the minute you stepped foot into the foyer. As you emerged out of the bedroom, you were greeted by the clothes strewn around the whole of the apartment. To anyone else, it looked like you and Justin had spent a wild night screwing each other's brains out when in reality all you did was talk. From the very beginning, both you and Justin found it very easy to talk with each other about everything and anything on your mind. Staying up late and talking quickly became one of your favorite things. You remembered laughing when his bowtie slid off of the abstract chandelier over the living room, scaring the heck out of both of you. You gathered up clothes as you made your way around the space in search of his ringing phone. Of course, when you finally laid your hand on the thin, metal rectangle through the fabric of his coat it stopped ringing again. Struggling, you fished it out of his coat jacket and glanced at his notifications:

“Shit,” you cursed under your breath. You figured something must have happened while he was away on ‘business’. Most of the time when you met up with Justin, he was on a business trip but this was a special visit. You'd asked if he could come so you could talk with him in person and emphasized that you didn't have anything ‘like that’ to talk to him about. He'd laughed and said he'd be a while. It was almost two months later that he was able to come back to New York.

You hurried back to the bedroom to wake Justin hoping one of his kids wasn’t sick or hurt and if they were, this stupid arrangement was ending right here and now. You didn't have or want any kids but you told yourself that if this was taking Justin away from his kids too often you'd put a stop to it right away. As you come to the edge of the bed, you suddenly realize that you’ve never woken him up before. It’s always been him waking you in the morning with his mouth and hands somewhere on you or you waking up to find that he’d already gone. If you’d let yourself think about it you preferred the latter but right now you needed to wake someone who you knew from your fandom days that was notoriously hard to wake up.

“Justin,” you shook him lightly, his phone still in your hand. He didn’t stir so you tried again, “Justin, come on. You gotta wake up. Your phone has been ringing...”
