“You okay?” Buck asked, turning his body and wincing at the pain of resting his head on his hand.

Eddie sighed, hiding his face in his own. “Yeah, I’m just… jumpy.” He sighed again. Buck frowned, reincorporating a little bit. “I keep thinking what could’ve happened to you out there.”

“Eddie, I’m fine,” he mumbled patiently. “I’m not defenseless, I know how to use our weapons.”

From across the room, Eddie scoffed, then cleared his throat. “It’s not about you being damn good with that machete, which I know you are,” he said, watching Buck nod in agreement. “It’s about the fact that you- it’s like you think this Camp could go on without you.”

Silence.

“…That I could go on without you.”

“Thanks again for letting him have the window,” The man beside him murmured to Buck, reaching his hand to shake. It was awkward because of the limited space but Buck eagerly clasped hands with the man, marvelling at the warm skin that felt just so right against his own. “I’m Eddie,” The man— Eddie— continued, before nodding towards his son. “This is Christopher.”

“Eddie,” Buck rolled the name on his tongue, liking the way it felt. “Nice to meet you, I’m Buck.” He looked over to Christopher who was looking at them both curiously. “Very nice to meet you, little man. How old are you?”

“I’m seven!” Christopher gave him a toothy grin. “Is Buck your real name?”

“Chris,” Eddie admonished, giving Buck an apologetic look.

Buck shook his head slightly with a grin, letting Eddie know it was okay. “No, technically my real name is Evan, but all my friends call me Buck.”

“So dad and I are your friends?” Christopher looked excited at the prospect.

“You can be, if you want to,” Buck offered, giving Chris a soft look. This kid was probably the cutest kid he’d ever met.

Christopher cheered. “Dad, we already have a friend!”

“Yes, we do, buddy,” Eddie agreed, reaching out to ruffle Christopher’s hair. “I told you this move was a good idea.”

It is still Saturday for me, and I am super pumped!!!! (My chiefs won a playoff game, and seeing Taylor Swift swag surf at the game, wow. Week made!) Jumping back to NFL Buck today, featuring more of the Dosed arc. More NFL Buck can be found here. Enjoy!

It takes a minute to make it up the too long driveway and Athena does her best to keep her judgement to herself. All of it is a bit exorbitant and a waste of concrete. A few feet up the drive, Eddie's home comes into view and it does not disappoint. A beautiful pale stone mini mansion with a six car garage, perfectly manicured lawn, and an expansive transom windowed entry way. Impressive place truly, but Athena has seen bigger and much more extravagant during her years in LA. What really has Athena completely gobsmacked is the curly blonde haired, blue eyed, over six foot man waiting in front of large wooden french doors. Dressed in a comfortable looking white hoodie, gray workout shorts, and black Nike sliders, is none other than the LA Ram's quarterback, Evan Buckley. Buck. Buckley. The numerous football games and the timing of Eddie's path to LA matching Evan Buckley's exactly. How the hell has none of the 118 and the rest of their family figured it out by now? She looks back at the man who has apparently been keeping one big ass secret. "Firefighter Diaz, you've been holding out on us." Wide, glassy brown eyes fill with fresh tears, "I'm sorry. I thought you could see the pollen too. Ravi could. And-and those little ladies, they were made of the pollen." Eddie releases broken sob, "Please, I'm sorry. I heard Buck, where is he? I want Buck, please Officer 'Thena."

“Uh, yeah, I guess it was.” Buck finally responds, quickly getting out of bed and taking his pillow with him and covering himself. He feels too exposed like that, standing in front of Eddie, but he needs to put some distance between them. “It was- it was a-” his voice shakes, he feels like his body is physically trying to stop him from saying these words, “a drunken mistake. It doesn’t- it won’t change anything, right?” he finally looks at Eddie, who’s staring at him with wide, sad eyes, and Buck has no time or energy to read into it right now. “It doesn’t have to be weird.” he sounds pleading, begging, just needing Eddie to say that they can get back to normal and pretend it never happened. 

“No, of course.” Eddie’s voice sounds hoarse, and he clears his throat, a faint smile on his face. “We were drunk, it was- it was nothing. Let’s just forget anything happened.” Eddie’s words sting. Buck was hoping for them, but they still hurt, and he immediately wants him to take it back, he wants to backtrack on what he said earlier, he wants to- he really needs to get a fucking grip and sort out his feelings.

I'm trying very hard to finish demon Buck just cause it's been sitting on my drafts forever and honestly i'm even dreaming about it, so yeah here have a moodboard.

“Everything okay?” Eddie asked, taking his hand and pulling him into the house.

“Yeah, I just, wasn’t sure you’d want me around so soon after I dumped all my trauma on you last night,” He was chewing his lip in a nervous way, his eyes refusing to meet Eddie’s.

“Why wouldn’t I? Besides you didn’t dump anything on me, I asked you to share.”

Buck nodded, “You trusted me to take care of Chris and I turned into a sob story, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Eddie sighed, “You also fed him, and kept him entertained all afternoon, and happy; I should’ve asked if you were okay with watching him before even asking you, I’m sorry I didn’t think about that.”

Buck finally looked up to him and tilted his head like a confused puppy, “You’re too kind to me, Eddie.”

Eddie shook his head, “C’mon, we can watch a few episodes of Supernatural before we need to pick up Chris.”

Buck groaned just like Eddie knew he would, complaining that the show was so inaccurate it made his infernal blood boil.

“Complain all you want bud, one of their rituals is what brought you here.”

“Whatever,” He said, rolling his eyes and pressing play on the TV.
