How Marvel Characters Would React to Catching you 💀✨Dancing✨💀

Summary: Title says it, yo. How they'd react to catching you dancing alone like a maniac. Kinda fluffy for some, funny for many, a lil flirty too ig? Yada, yada, idk, man, just good vibes!!! -

Tony "Nice moves, Michael Jackson." He'd say while leaning on the doorframe, arms crossed, smirk on his face. Then, he'd probably tell everybody about it and haunt you forever. "First time?" Steve would ask as everybody still screams 'LANGUAGE!' around him.

Steve He'd do that dorky smile and lil laugh he does all the time. "Don't mind me, just grabbing something-" He'd say bashfully holding his hands up before grabbing something Steve-like, like his wallet or jacket before leaving you to dance in peace, or writhe in embarrassment, you choose.

Thor He'd just stand there curiously for a second, blinking before realizing that you were dancing. You would’ve probably have noticed the big boy by then and stopped dancing. He'd nod with that adorkable smile and clap lightly. "Very nice." He'd say genuinely with a dorky thumbs up before excusing himself and leaving, just like that. *Shrug. Keeps vibing.*

Natasha She'd do that one sassy smirk expression-thing she always does while standing there. "Am I interupting something?" She'd kid and taunt around for a while in her sassy voice before just leaving casually. She probably told Clint though. Beware.

Bruce "What are you- er, you know what, never mind- not my business- sorry for uh, ruining your fun..." He'd mutter while doing that adorably dorky anxious Bruce behavior while walking backwards, before excusing himself, apologizing and finally leaving, despite you not caring about it that much while he makes it a big, huge deal.

Clint He would do that mischievious-ass 'hehe' chuckle he always does. And then he'd probably leave, leaving you to wonder if he'll just forget about it, or tell Natasha, or tell everybody, he's unpredictable like that.

Loki He'd do that iconic chuckle-scoff thing he does with the mischievous smile. "Midgardians are so ridiculous... and adorable." He'd mutter while leaning on the door frame, head tilted in fake curiosity, surely leaving you to frown while writhing in painful Loki-caused embarrassment. "It's just a bit of fun, really." -Loki, probably.

Bucky He'd do a lil sassy exhale-laugh-thing and stand there tauntingly until you tell him to leave, then he'd do so, smirking at your embarrassment.

Sam "Ayyyyy!" He'd say, pointing at you while grabbing whatever he came for and then leaving with that cheeky smile thing he always does.

Peter He’d be too busy thinking about whatever he was thinking about for a sec, then he’d look up and see you and he’d do that adorable chuckle-giggle-thing. “Sorry- ehe-” He’d say before excusing himself and leaving with his dorky smile.

10 Charachters, 10 Fandoms

Thank you @rowanisawriter for giving me the opportunity to fangirl about my fictional crushes.

Tagging @spacejammie-eimmajecaps, @ashamefulplace and @the-lastcall (and anyone who wants to tune in).

I wasn't sure if I should do this chronologically, or in order of how much I've simped for these people, so let's just get to it:

P.S.: you'll get kudos (and maybe candy) if you pick up on the common themes here.

1. Zuko - ATLA

He was my first fictional crush.

I would write self insert fic about him (which never saw the light of AO3 thankfully), and I would rewatch all of ATLA just to his character go from "I can fix him" brat to adorkable edgy brat.

2. Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls

He had what I at the time called the "sexy British accent". I never even joined the school of thought "he'd burn the whole world down but me". I was chill with burning.

3. Bucky Barnes - MCU

And the bad boy parade continues. I firmly believed that I could fix him, and going back to the (once again thankfully unpublished) self insert slash fics of the time, I realise that I had no idea what in him needed fixing.

4. John Hancock - Fallout 4

Nothing makes me fall harder for a sad meow meow than him going "I'm gonna stop bugging you with my problems, I know I'm too fucked up to love".

I have a save file right before that convo, and I like to revisit it every so often.

5. Egor Serling - Deathloop

While on the topic of sad meow meows, let me introduce you to mister "I've been invisible my whole life 🥺". He's pathetic and slightly unhinged, what is there not to love? ( y/n in my fic about him agrees).

6. David Sarif - Deus Ex

It's hard to pick only one character from the DX games, but I think "Daddy Sarif", as I affectionately call him whenever he's brought up in conversation, belongs here.

He is rich, smart, and believes the illuminati want to tear down his company (and has 0 evidence to back that up).

7. Crosshair - Clone Wars: the Bad Batch

A sad meow meow, a bad boy, and white hair? Can a man be more perfect? Well he's also a sniper ...

He's like Egor, but he'll talk back when you tell him to get on his knees, you know?

8. Billie Lurk - Dishonored

You know the jist by this point, sad, with questionable morals, daddy issues, and missing an arm.

My favourite thing about her is how she goes "this is a robbery" with an audible smirk, as she robs a bank. And also that she kept the creepy art project her girlfriend gave her a decade ago. How sweet is that?

I need to write a self-insert x her fic. But I don't have any Dishonored OCs :/

9. Alyx Vance - Half Life

She was my first girl crush. And I still remember the exact moment I went "damn that chick is cool". It was shortly after reuniting with Barney, when I had to shoot my way through some stupid combine stronghold, and Alyx just crawled through the vents and waited for me on the other side.

(She is the reason I have £500 saved to one day buy a VR set)

10. Bo-Katan Kryze - the Mandalorian (no this isn't cheating, it's a different sub-fandom XP)

Is she just a mommy version of Alyx? Maybe. But the Mandalorian (the TV series), sure helped with the popularity of her character... (I'm talking about that one ass scene).

She also has that sad kitty side to her, when she sits alone in her massive space castle after all her friends have left her.

Well my first instinct was to say I do like it when fics incorporate the actor into the character...

(Talking specifically about Bucky, I was thinking about the RL-example of how they put him in Bucharest, in CACW, because SebStan is Romanian, so he could speak Romanian in the scene. I thought it was neat!

So I do like it when fic-Bucky has specific Romanian or Eastern European heritage, a la the actor, because it lampshades this very obvious aspect of SebStan's appearance... which it would be odd to ignore, given the context of the Brooklyn which Bucky grew up in (with rampant antisemitism targeted at EE Jews, where looking EE would have an impact on others' perception of him and his perception of the world.

Owing to-- I guess you could call it colorism? shadeism? --back then, this Bucky would've grown up, for example, watching actors who resemble him being typecast as villains and monsters -- Little Caesar, Frankenstein, etc. Boris Karloff wasn't even EE!) You could also read Bucky being Romanian as a callback to Jewish Romanian Stan Lee, as well.)

...But then I realised I'm actually in the 'depends' camp.

Depends on the character and depends what the actor-trait is.

Those Bucky examples fit the character, but while sometimes the actor-trait adds depth, or addresses a plot hole, sometimes it's just OOC for the character.

I don't mind, eg. people incorporating physical description that very obviously references the actor playing the character, or adding in Cevans' boob-grab laugh into Steve's characterisation, because neither of those things affect Steve's personality. But adding in Cevans traits (or traits of other characters he has played) which don't match Steve's personality ... that does bother me.

For example: even despite Steve's drastically different background, Cevans' tattoos could actually work, on Steve, because it's a counter-cultural thing (compatible with his politics), and Steve grew up in a rough area of Brooklyn with loadsa tattooed sailors around, plus if Steve was a poor amateur artist then tattooing would be one of the few professions he could incorporate that into!

But making Steve (het-romance avoiding, demi- or ace- readable Steve) into a (how can I put this diplomatically? let's go with-) ladykiller, a la Cevans in his slooty era? That just isn't Steve, to me!

And IMO that goes for Bucky, too.

SebStan has multiple 'sad gay spoiled lil rich boy' roles under his belt, and I just can't vibe with AU fics that make Bucky one, because he's nothing like that... I feel like you could swap in a baby Howard Stark without changing anything, and that's usually a sign of poor characterisation in my book.

(Plus, from a shippy perspective, Bucky's upbringing (facilitating defence of underdogs against bullies) + experience of adversity + shared life experiences are all vital to his personality and to what makes him attractive to Steve... so cutting out all those Bucky traits just to put OtherSebStanCharacter's Traits in their place doesn't work, for me! I'm left wondering '...but why would Steve like this guy?')

Another example: SebStan's appealingly awkward theatre-nerd™ clumsiness?

Yeah, it's adorkable, but it makes no damn sense for a Bucky who's supposed to be this former-ladykiller *ahem* dancer sniper supersoldier, etc!

So that's where I am on it.

Introducing Natasha! Natasha had moved to the US with her sister, Yelena, back in highschool. It was all so new to her, and she refused to talk to anyone. She dyes her hair every other month to keep up with her mysterious™ dark academiaesque image and to get away from the second embarrassment her friends give her. Her friends. Her found family.
