Buck & Eddie: Tommy's use of "This guy!"

I answered an ask last night (linked here) about Tommy's use of the phrase "This guy" during the 7x4 sneak peek (linked here) but I extracted that portion of my response so others can read it.

Also, he called Eddie "SOMETHING!" instead of saying his name when Eddie drove up but Buck called him "Eddie". Furthermore, Eddie called Buck, "Buck" but Tommy called him "Evan" and everyone who knows Buck understands that was just WRONG!

These instances were INTENTIONAL.

[Now here's the thing with Tommy's use of the phrase "This guy". Even though he was looking at Eddie when he said it, after the words left his lips, he immediately touched Buck's arm and back. While the verbiage may sound like another harmless phrase, the truth is, it isn't and here's the proof.

According to Dictionary.com, the slang definition of "This guy is an expression used to highlight when someone has done something stupid or unbelievable". It appears he was being derogatory and the further proof of it is the way he described Eddie as a "SOMETHING" instead of a "someone" or even by his name. When Buck suggested he let him buy him a beer, Tommy replied, "I'd love that but I have to take a raincheck because I should have SOMETHING that should be arriving right now" 🙄. Based on when he said, "This guy", who he said it to and what he said next, it appears he was referencing something Buck did that was stupid or unbelievable. Please note, Tommy NEVER CALLED "EDDIE" BY HIS NAME. He never said the name "Eddie" but Buck did.

I mean WTF is Tommy trying to do here because not only does he have a hero complex, he spoke to Buck like he has access to something (Eddie) that Buck wants and Buck is being stupid or unbelievable for not realizing it 👀.]

I'm just leaving this here so it can be read and noted that Tommy's use of the phrase "This guy" and him calling Eddie "SOMETHING" was not only interesting; it was included for a reason 👀.

im so excited though i still feel buck is exploring his attraction to men through tommy the buddie stuff is gonna happen after buck starts exploring with tommy which makes sense to me. buck and men needs to happen before buck is ready to deep dive on his relationship with eddie and what eddie truly means to him. i do hope bi buck is true because it means buddie fans have been watching the show correctly and interpreting their scenes correctly and now all the buddie moments from the shows run will now be shown in a new light. this has to be leading to buddie endgame, nothing else would make sense. i also feel like eddie being f'n jealous and pissed at buck and tommy and not knowing why while he's with marisol is gonna be gold, and make it even more obvious.

Yeah, I agree, if this is the route they're going. It does make sense for Buck to have a sexuality realisation first - Eddie's made a lot of progress but he's still so fucking repressed.

So I can see it going something like - Buck meets Tommy, there's a spark, he has a sexuality awakening, and once we have confirmation of that, boom it's on.

Once they open the door, they can't close it again. Buck will be canonically queer. And with which character does he have the most chemistry; who is his ride-or-die; who made him guardian of his son; who has the perfect couch? Oh why that's Eddie!

I'm soooo fucking excited I'm like trying to be chill but mostly I am not chill and very fucking excited.

If this all somehow, by some miracle, leads to the world's most awkward double date (Buck and Tommy, Eddie and Marisol), then I will be living my best fucking life. It's all I've ever dreamed and wanted for my very own! (there's a reason I write so many awkward dinner parties, I fucking love this shit!)

(also idk how Natalia fits into it? If she's coming back? It doesn't seem like she is?)

(also I do kind of wish for the reverse, that Eddie would have a sexuality awakening first?? But it doesn't seem like that's happening and I am trusting the process)

seriously though can you imagine if they did a double date on this show fr i would never stop screaming

Eddie got outed by FAMILY FEUD, was originally supposed to have the Tommy storyline, is having catholic guilt storyline instead, was hell bent on staying with Buck to avoid Mopbucket, moved her in AND out in the same day, and y’all are STILL saying Buddie won’t go canon…chile anyway

possibly controversial opinion but i don’t necessarily want buddie together by the season finale

nah instead i want buddie canon, i.e. reveal of feelings to the audience but not yet to each other

like… season finale, a newly married chim is encouraging eddie to keep getting out there and then he says something like ‘i already know what i want’

camera cut to buck, then back again and chimney’s like ‘ohhh i get it now’ and just pats him on the back and doesn’t say anything else, cause buck’s crush on eddie is bigger than the sun

then boom season finale ends, hiatus for however many months it is

like can you imagine the chaos?? everyone would lose their minds

i dunno, i’m still gonna be ecstatic if buddie gets together by 6x18, but this is my dream, my vision if you like

I find it very odd that they are focusing so much on Buck and Eddie during the Bachelor Party sequence in EVERY SINGLE PROMO 😶 Like Chimney has so many other male figures in his life that should realistically be present at his bachelor party…bobby, ravi, albert, tommy, his friend from Chicago, even Mr Lee perhaps but noooo…let’s put up a homoerotic montage of Buck and Eddie getting drunk and taking their clothes off throughout the night 😭😭😭

Things we would get if buddie ever becomes cannon:

• Buck & Eddie cuddling with each other.

• Buck & Eddie flirting with each other at work & annoying the 118.

• Their shy, awkward first kiss.

• Their eventual heated kisses and then comfort kisses.

• Bobby, Athena & Maddie having the "talk" with Eddie to never hurt buck

• Chimney calling Eddie brother in law

• Buck and Eddie nursing each other's small injuries that they get on calls

• Hen & Karen telling Eddie it's okay to come to terms with his sexuality at any age.

• Christopher calling Buck "Dad".

• Buck eventually moving into the Diaz household.

• Eddie giving up on cooking finally and letting Buck take care of them.

• Hen and Chimney gonna be like "We always been knew".

• Buck and Eddie eventually proposing (they both will somehow decide to propose on the same day and get on their knees together)

• Buck and Eddie finally, finally being happy

Buddie things which are already canon in the show.

Every time a homophobe and biphobe post that the show is ruined because Buck is bi, Oliver Stark is living his best life, happy that he can finally play Buck with 100% honesty and joy. And knows that in doing so, he's giving a majority of the fans joy.

Happy 911 Month!

When the premiere date got announced @sateenkaarirotta and I decided to do a collab to celebrate!

We each decided on an episode and came up with a prompt for one another- They chose 4x13 and her prompt had to do with the comfort Eddie felt knowing that if he was dying at least it was with his best friend by his side-this person he loves so dearly. That moment he’s reaching for Buck with the last of his strength and what was going through his mind!

Ngl I sometimes have moments when I’m like “maybe we truly are hallucinating buddie” but then I think about “you can have my back any day”, “you two have an adorable son”, “there’s no one I trust more with my son than you”, “wanna go for the title?”, the live stream comments on how they should be a couple, the lawsuit era, the will, the domesticity, the couch, 3 minutes and 17 seconds, the way they look at each other, the parallels between them and canon couples, and all the other stuff that I can’t think of rn cause there’s literally so many. Like I’ve never seen a ship do it like buddie they’re one of a kind

There’s something about Eddie saying he’s a nester yet being completely incapable of doing such nesting with any of the women we’ve ever seen him with. Shannon was not only his wife, but Chris’ mother, and yet he didn’t feel ready to let her see their son once she came back… I’d even be willing to say he convinced himself into redoing his life with her because it made sense, and not because he was in love with her (again). Ana, however lovely she was, was also very clearly the product of Eddie putting Chris first. We see this when he has The Conversation with Buck: “Chris loves her”, “is that enough?” and soon we find out it isn’t. “We became a ready made family, and I’m not ready for that”. Finally we have Marisol, who he shoved inside his house only to kick out a few days later. But then… cut to Buck and Chris playing video games together, and doing some sort of scrapbook thing for Christmas, and visiting Santa, and going to the zoo. Cut to Buck picking Chris up from school, and being the first person Chris calls when Eddie breaks down (and goes to when he’s mad at his dad). Cut to homemade meals and difficult talks at any of their kitchens, and carrying each other physically and emotionally through the worse possible times. Cut to “there’s no one I trust with my son more than you,” and “this changes nothing between us.” Yeah,,, Eddie can’t nest with the women we’ve seen him with, because he already nested with Buck.
