Mom
Tumblr media
The second Y/N set her eyes on Eddie Munson it would cause nothing but trouble for herself. He looked like a boy she shouldn't bring home to mom. But that didn't stop her from falling in love.
She spent months sneaking out of her window, Eddie waiting for her in his van. They'd sneak off to anywhere they wanted. She was smitten with him and she couldn't believe he felt the same for her. She knew her mom wouldn't approve, Eddie lived too much of a different lifestyle. He wasn't born rich, wasn't at the top of his classes, and he did things her mother would never support. But she loved him and she wanted to make it work.
She knew she couldn't sneak past her mom for too long, she'd get caught. But she wasn't prepared to lose Eddie.
"Who do you keep sneaking off with?" Y/N froze as she climbed into her bedroom. Her mom was waiting for her on the bed.
"Chrissy is having boyfriend troubles, and I know you wouldn't let me see her but she needed me." Y/N lied, taking off her shoes
"Funny enough, I called Chrissy's mom, and Chrissy was sleeping. So who were you with?" Her mom pushed. Y/N panicked as she was caught in her lie. Chrissy always lied for her but she didn't think about Chrissy's mom ratting her out.
"No one! I needed a walk to clear my head. All this perfect daughter shit is draining me. I wanted fresh air and I know you'd refuse to let me be alone so I said I was with Chrissy." She lied again. But her mother didn't look convinced.
"Clearing your head with Eddie Munson?" Y/N froze as the name left her mother's lips.
"What?"
"I'm not stupid, young lady. You are out there meeting up with Eddie Munson. Doing god knows what kind of drugs. No daughter of mine will be mixed in with a kid like him." Her mother ranted, standing up as she got in Y/N's face.
"A kid like him? What is that supposed to mean!" Y/N scoffed.
"He lives in the trailer park! Who knows what disease he's carrying. I've heard bad things about him, drugs and devil shit. You are NOT seeing him ever again, do you hear me?" Y/N watched in horror as her mom unplugged her phone, snatching the cords with her.
"You will not call him, talk to him, and you will not leave this house for anything other than school and cheer!"
"MOM! That's not fair! YOU CAN'T KEEP ME A PRISONER HERE! I love him and we want to be together. He's not a bad guy! If you met him, you'd see he isn't at all what people describe him to be!" Y/N screamed, but everything she said went on deaf ears.
"I'M YOUR MOTHER AND YOU WILL DO AS I SAY! YOU ARE BREAKING UP WITH HIM AND NEVER SEEING HIM AGAIN."
~~~
Eddie tried to be understanding of the break up. He knew it tore her apart just as much as it did him. He wanted to make it easier for her, hold her and tell her it's alright. He knew he wasn't the type that parents liked. And he knew he wasn't good enough for her.
It killed him to see her walking around the halls, knowing he couldn't walk up and kiss her anymore. The reality that they are broken up and she wasn't his anymore.
Her mom kept her a prisoner. The second cheer ended, her mom was outside the school waiting. Her mom never gave back her phone, she couldn't call Eddie if she wanted to.
The more time passed, and the more they were apart, she realized he was more important than whatever her mom wanted from her. She could barely sleep, the guilt ate her alive. She hated that she picked her mom over Eddie. She knew Eddie tried his best to make it easier, but she didn't deserve that. She could have fought. She should have shown Eddie he was more important and she'd do anything to make their relationship work. But she didn't, she just let her mom win.
Y/N talked to Robin about everything, her guilt, hatred towards her mom, and disappointment within herself. Robin knew that Eddie was hurting through it all, and no separation would heal either. Robin asked Y/N to trust her, so she did.
Now she stood in the drama room with Eddie across from her. His swollen eyes and red nose. His hair was a mess, but that was normal. She felt nervous to speak first, almost like he'd snap the second she opened her mouth.
"I miss you," he whispered, as he opened his arms. An invitation to throw herself in his arms, which she accepted. She dashed into his arms, gripping it tightly as she breathed in his scent.
"I miss you so much." She felt his arms wrap tighter around her, a hand in her hair as he tried to be as close as possible to her.
"I'm so sorry for not fighting. I let her win and I didn't even try for us." She cried, she knew her mom would tear them apart and she still didn't fight against it. "I was prepared for it to happen, and I froze. Our relationship deserves to be fought for and I'm ready to do it."
Eddie pulled back a little to see her face, their bodies still embraced. "You don't need to apologize. I didn't fight either, I just let you do it alone. But now I'm not. We will fight for us together, okay? I'm not going to lose you. I don't care what she throws at us, I'll take care of you." Eddie promised, his forehead pressed against hers. She sniffled and nodded.
A smile on her face as she connected her lips with his.
"I love you." Eddie's heart raced at the words, a full teeth smile on his face as he said the words back.
Y/N would graduate one day, she'd move out and her mom wouldn't have the control. All Y/N needed was Eddie's hand in hers.
CW: Chrissy's mom. Specifically being body shamey and ableist. Also characters being pressured into a relationship they don't want to be in.
Okay but ST season 4 AU where everyone lives, including Chrissy and Jason. Like, Vecna breaks his victims and traps his victims in their own minds instead of killing them so he can feed off their life forces or whatever and Chrissy is found in the trailer broken and covered in upsidedown goop but still alive so everyone's like. This is some weird supernatural bullshit. And Jason still leads a witch-hunt.
After it all, Chrissy is awake and recovering and she breaks up with Jason for being the worst. And her mom is like. You're legally an adult, you chased away a good man, because you're bed bound for now you lost your cheerleading scholarship and the only thing that makes you worth anything. You can't even get a job in your current state. You need a man. If you let me set you up with a rich eligible bachelor and don't fuck it up, we will pay your hospital bills, maybe even college.
Meanwhile Steve is a hero, and is a publicity asset for the Harringtons, and for the first time since he graduated high school has some kind of value to his parents. He's being celebrated, and if they set him up with one of their business partner's kids they can curry favor. More so if it's the poor injured Cunningham girl who is beloved and lauded by the town for being victims of the bizarre serial killer, Henry Creel.
(Ignore the goo and the vines and the crack in the ground that used to be main street there was a serial killer and an earthquake and they were totally unrelated.)
So Steve and Chrissy are both being pressured by their parents into a relationship that even conceptually makes them uncomfortable. But she can't back out without starting adulthood in a wheelchair in crippling debt. And while Steve could probably survive being disowned and his parents' ire his abandonment issues and desperate people pleaser tendencies make him not want to piss off his parents, disappoint the Cunninghams, or hurt Chrissy's feelings.
So they go on a lot of very uncomfortable dates. And they kind of get along. And Steve breaks down and full on Robin word vomits that she's great and he's sure she'll find a great guy but he really doesn't want to upset their parents or hurt her feelings- but he really really doesn't feel that way about her- and it's not because she's in a wheelchair or anything- one of his kids is in a wheelchair- well not his kid- there's these kids he babysits- that's not the point- he's really really sorry, but he kind has a crush on someone else, and he can't keep pretending to date her to make other people happy, and he's really sorry. And she's like. Holy shit.
And he just broke down so she feels comfortable explaining her situation and he, overwhelmed by his protector instincts, agrees to keep up the appearance of dating until her hospital bills are paid and she can make her own choices about what she wants.
So they keep doing public dates and stuff. But outside of that, he invites her to meet his friends, cause she lost a lot of hers in everything. She's been really lonely, and she's very sweet and kind of dorky so she gets along with everyone.
And Steve told Robin everything because she's Robin, but not everyone else because he didn't want to get into his parents bullshit or expose Chrissy's baggage so they're all nice to her and get along but they're a little weird about it because that's Chrissy Cunningham. And Steve's dating her???
Also Robin is weird around her because hot girl, but everyone thinks she's jealous which is a weird dynamic. Chrissy thinks Robin is Steve's crush and keeps talking Steve up to Robin and talking about how Robin's great and how close she and Steve are and how nice that is. And it's very awkward.
Eddie is insanely jealous and he knows that Robin's a lesbian so he's like. Oh she has a crush on her best friend's straight girlfriend. That sucks. And he also hates that he can't hate Chrissy, because she's so fucking nice and sweet to him.
(Nancy, Jon and Argyle are all on varying levels of knowing something is up but are staying out of it because they are too stoned to parse what specifically is happening or too stubborn to admit that they made some wrong assumptions.)
(the kids don't care much beyond being glad that Steve wasn't flirting with every age appropriate girl he crossed paths with anymore)
And then Chrissy figures out that a) whoops she has a crush on her fake boyfriend's best friend (Robin). b) Steve and Eddie are in love. And c) Eddie thinks she and Steve are for real. So Chrissy tries to explain to Eddie that their relationship is fake without spilling Steve's baggage, and mentions that she doesn't even like Steve like that she actually likes Robin.
Through some miscommunication Eddie now thinks Steve is unknowingly Chrissy's beard. And he doesn't want to out Chrissy but he's a little upset that she's using his crush totally platonic guy friend this way.
Meanwhile Chrissy tries to team up with Robin to get Steve and Eddie together. Because Robin clearly loves Steve and Eddie and wants them to be happy even if she hates Chrissy for some reason. (Again Robin doesn't hate Chrissy she's just super awkward).
Boundless shenanigans ensue.
Okay listen yall how about a But I’m a Cheerleader AU for the fruity four? They all get sent to some conversion camp at the same time so that’s how they meet.
Robin starts out hating Nancy’s guts because she’s this little miss perfect that Robin’s parents always wanted her to be and that she never could live up to - which is why she ended up at that stupid camp. Nancy also hates Robin because she’s so unapologetically herself while Nancy has repressed and bottled up everything she shouldn’t be for literal YEARS and still ended up at that fucking camp feeling like her life is over. They get closer over time and gradually start realizing how much they’re alike, both struggling with trying to fit into this mold their parents and the society around them wants them to fit into. They help each other to really bring out the best in themselves and soon enough they start to develop some feelings for each other.
When Steve and Eddie first meet, they hate each other just as much as Nancy and Robin. Eddie obviously hates literally everything Steve stands for, the rich preppy boy who is a master in forced conforming and actually wants to do the whole marriage-and-kids-at-the-end-of-the-cul-the-sac thing when he finishes his therapy. And Eddie gets completely on Steve’s nerves, because Steve genuinely came to that camp to fix himself, and here is this guy (this hot guy) purposefully trying to sabotage all his progress and making way too much effort to stand out in every way possible. But when they get to know each other better, they end up connecting over both having the literal worst parents ever and Eddie helps Steve fight his internalized homophobia while Steve calms Eddie’s anger.
(Also the side plot possibilities are ENDLESS. You can totally include Jargyle and Vickie x Chrissy sorry idk their shipping name as well. or even more ships just throw them all in there, make it as gay as possible. Jonathan and Will both being sent there by Lonnie without Joyce knowing, and Joyce trying to find them? Steve and Nancy trying to be normal and start something together which is completely NOT working? Billy being there and making everyone’s lives even more hellish while he keeps insisting he’s straight and his father sent him there by mistake?)
Anyway sorry for getting carried away let’s go back to the main plot: the four of them end up running away together. (Maybe some of the younger kids like Byler and/or El(u)max are also there and they smuggle them out to protect them or something idk.) They go to Eddie’s estranged uncle, who’s the black sheep of the Munson family and may or may not be queer himself, and they end up a big happy VERY GAY family.
(EDIT: i have no self-control and started writing this fic, you can read it here if you want to, but it’s not finished yet!)
Pancakes For Dinner
Short little ficlet based on this song <3
Pt. 1, Pt. 2 (coming soon)
————————————
Eddie is pacing his living room back and forth back and forth back and forth back and—
“Dude will you sit down you’re making yourself more stressed!!” Chrissy yells at him from their couch.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me Chris, I'm a writer this is what I do! So why is it so fucking hard to write a best man speech for my best friend, besides you of course Chris” Eddie adds to the end in quickly to cover his ass.
“probably because you’ve been in love with him since high school eds! And you need to tell him, because if you don’t he will marry that stupid rich bitch his mommy set him up with who he’s only marrying to make her happy and because he thinks he has no shot with you! And somewhere down the line probably 6-10 years in they’ll get a terrible divorce and he’ll have an early midlife crisis and buy a boat or a condo in Florida. he’s settling and he knows it and you are ignoring it.”
Eddie stops in his tracks and looks at Chrissy. they grew up together, practically siblings. eddie’s mom nannied for her family and eventually, Eddie was born and so was Chrissy. Raised together like siblings as Chrissy was the youngest of 3 sisters who were all moved out by the time Chris could walk. she has been here through every broken bone (4), every school play (6), a gay crisis, and one big fat crush on his guy best friend.
Steve and Eddie meet in freshman year English class. well, not Eddie’s freshman year, Steve’s. Eddie was two years older than Steve and so ended up being his English tutor to get extra credit in his own lit class. Eddie was smart, he just hated school. And yeah he repeated senior year twice making him and Steve graduate at the same time, but they both got the same degree in the end.
“I just don’t get it!” Steve would yell about Romeo and Juliet and Huckleberry Finn and Frankenstein and Dracula and pretty much any book he had to read…
Eddie would always smile and say “Don't worry steve-o, that’s what I'm here for”
Eventually tutor sessions turned into to hang out sessions turned into smoke sessions turned into crashing on one another’s couch. and yeah they’ve woken up a few times in… not totally platonic positions, but they were high and half asleep, no one could be blamed, so they didn’t talk about it. but Eddie and Chrissy did.
“Chris he doesn’t like me like that!” Eddie finally says responding to her.
“Bullshit! If he’s not in love with you then Robin and I are a straight couple!”
“That doesn’t make sense—“
“Shut up it doesn’t matter. how about you write two speeches. one where you pore you’re heart and soul out to him declaring your undying gay love, and then write the one that’s appropriate to say at his wedding. I would say just tell him now, but you know it’s your life, all I know is you need to get it off your chest one way or another.”
She was right. Eddie kissed her on the head and walked to his room and locked the door.
————————————
Eddie didn’t even make it two steps into the bar before Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Will, some kids Steve started babysitting in high school to make some extra cash who grew up to be both of their favorite gaggle of kids, cornered him by the door.
“so what are you going to do?” Dustin asks
Eddie looked at all four of them, “I plan to get him shitfaced, hold his hair back when he eventually throws it all up, and have the perfect hangover cure for him waiting in the morning so he can… make it down the aisle.”
Mike rolls his eyes, “You know that’s not what we are talking about.”
“We are talking about you stopping Steve from marrying the Richie Bitch!” will whisper yells.
The envelope in Eddie’s coat pocket suddenly weighs about 100 tons. He didn’t know why he brought it. The letter is about three pages long with lots of chicken scratch and eraser marks, but it’s all of Eddie on paper. And maybe he’ll give it to Steve, maybe he won’t. He hadn’t quite decided yet. “What makes you think I can stop him?” Eddie asks.
“Because you’re the only one he listens to, besides Robin, but even she’s getting desperate!” Lucas pipes in.
“Guys, I’ve tried, We’ve all tried. He’s not budging, all we can do is be there for him through all of it. Eventually, it will crash and burn but until then, we put on fake ass smiles and we are happy for him.” Eddie says addressing all of them, “Now I’m going to grab a table, order a round of drinks, and I expect all of you to just focus on making Steve’s party the best part it possibly could be.”
He shoved past them to grab a booth, set his jacket down, and went to the bar. And yeah he downed a couple, maybe a few, okay a handful of shots, for confidence, that's all. The longer he sat there the more he wanted to pull his hair out individually by each strand. He knew he couldnt let Steve go through with it, but he didn’t want to lose Steve completely, because that would break him. Like completely and totally shatter him into a million pieces that would get scattered into the wind. And yes, Eddie was aware of how cliche he was starting to sound.
Eventually, he made it back to the table with a round of drinks for everyone, Steve walked in looking, well looking gorgeous. It’s like that moment in the movies where the whole room disappears and it is just the two main characters. There’s a love song playing, except this is a crowded dive bar and they are playing some Zeppelin song that Eddie can’t take the time to name because Steve walks in with too tight a shirt and too tight pants and Eddie is only a man.
And suddenly the envelope in his pocket is not only 100 tons but also on fire.
Pt.2 coming soon...
WIP Word Game
Rules: you will be given a word. share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that start with each letter of that word.
@just-my-latest-hyperfixation gave me the word GIFT
All snippets are from my Steddie BB fic
G "Guess so,” Steve replies, “but is that all you want for your life? Being my trophy husband?" "What’s the difference from being a spoiled rich kid who accepted to get married only because he couldn't fathom the idea of working?" "That's not…" Steve tries to reply, offended, but Robin at his side chuckles. "He already knows you, babe."
I "I want to eat the cake!" Steve protests, "I want to eat the cake!" "Ok, ok, cake, and then we get home, can you keep an eye on both of them?" Eddie asks Chrissy while searching for the maitre. "Yes, help me get them back to your table and I'll make sure they'll drink just water." Steve and Robin frown, accusing Chrissy of being a spoilsport, while Eddie tries to manhandle him to their table. As soon as the two of them are sitting at the table, Eddie goes to search for the maitre, just to be stopped by his father.
F Friends. They can be friends. Normal friends. Not friends with benefits and not lovers. No matter what. Even if on both their ring fingers there is a golden band that says otherwise, they are just acquaintances. A soft knock on the door makes him startle. “Yes?” “Do you want to talk?” Steve asks, holding two cups of freshly brewed coffee, the only thing he can actually make without burning down the entire building.
T The guitar incident made them confront their insecurities, and after buying a very fancy Warlock Red cracked guitar and avoiding as the plague a Hello Kitty pink one that Steve insisted was perfect for Eddie, their cohabitation gets definitely better. The guest room has officially become Eddie’s room and he has already pinned on the wall numerous posters of bands that Steve can’t even pronounce. They have started to go to Chrissy’s yoga lesson every week and have brunch with Chrissy, Robin, and Jason when it’s possible. The policeman has even warmed up a little to Eddie and they have laughed about the night he was almost arrested after playing a serenade under his best friend's window.
I was listening to a very particular song, that gave me this idea bunny for an HG fic!
Has anyone ever written an HG fic, where both of them are dating in secret (out to their closest friends), but Papa Harrington put ultimatum for Steve to marry and get the company and keep Harrington name relevant and Steve chooses to marry instead run away with Billy. It was 80's, rich gay men were more likely to marry women for family, to appease the society.
Billy, heartbroken, chooses to move away from Hawkins and join Eddie & Chrissy on Eddie's trip tour/trip to cali to get big.
Billy writes a song (he is a author/poet for me) that he never intends to do anything with but Eddie finds and convinces him to let Eddie use it. Eddie produces the song, while Chrissy sings it along with Eddie, and puts up in his latest album, that has all the metal songs, a totally different vibe, lyrics and singer.
That song ends up becoming the number 1 from the whole album, brining Eddie a lot of fame and attention. Billy asks not to be credited for writing, and Eddie keeps the name of the writer blank.
The song becomes famous, that one day while driving his kids, Steve hears it on radio and instantly recognizes Chrissy's voice. He has a gut feeling who has written the song, he tries to find the writer, but Eddie has blanked the name. The song ends up becoming something so personal to Steve, it brings in a lot of memories and pain.
I’m gonna open Pandora’s box: cheerscoops 💕
i don't?? think?? i've ever heard of that shiAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH MY BABIES!!!!!!!!
i know i'm biased bc they're my fave ship but they literally make so much sense, i feel like if you just think about both characters for like, a minute, it's all right there. both have troubled family lives. both seek out validation through climbing the school's social hierarchy, but also show that they're far more comfortable being around people of a lower social "status" (chrissy + eddie in the forest scene, steve + dustin/robin). we see how steve's "loser-fication" ultimately benefits him by giving him robin, and i feel like he could lead by example to show chrissy that she doesn't have to burn herself out trying to meet her parents' expectations in order to live well.
i think they'd both have a very similar bond of like. okay yeah we're both rich kids but that doesn't mean we've not got problems, too. and they have that unique shared experience of both feeling that way, so even if like, say steve is upset about his parents but dustin just dismisses it bc "at least you live in a huge house/at least you have a pool/at least they're barely around" bc dustin thinks that's the dream. chrissy understands that the more money that comes in only equates to their parents' personal happiness, not the family's. and that sometimes you'd rather trade all your material possessions for just one genuine hug from the people who made you.
and as a result of that, i think they'd really thrive at helping support each other to break that chain, to become the total opposite of their parents. unafraid to show each other their love (even if it does mean eddie making audible retching noises the whole time), unafraid to show other people that they love them, too, being way better at communicating their issues and being way more open to compromise rather than insisting only one of them is right.
tl;dr they're my blorbos and i'm obsessed with them <3
Modern theatre cast st au!!
Musical - Cats!!
Steve wasnt disappointed with the character he was cast with, actually he was quite exited for it, but he was a little confused.
Originally, when he and Robin came to audition into the new show Dustin was working on. (Cats) (seriously the kid was amazing at building sets and helping with the tech side of theatre aswell as offering backing vocals if needed?!) Steve had auditioned for the role of Munkustrap.
There wasnt alot for the role compared to others he had done before, the whole musical itself was basically all song and dance which was a nice change. Sure Munkustrap danced most of the songs, but Steve had trained in both ballet and contemporary since he was little (much to his fathers resentment), so the constant dancing was a fun concept!!
Plus, with Munkustrap, it was more of a singing and narration role, most of the time performing to accompany another actor. He was also a protective cat, so steve thought performing as him would be quite fitting.
When Robin finally came barreling into their shared apartment followed by thier friend Chrissy, with the letters telling them what roles they got, Steve was surprised to see that he was given the Character of 'Mr Mistoffelees/ Quaxo' the magical cat.
"I just dont get it robs... why would they give me Mistoffelees of all cats?" He wasnt unhappy, just confused, Mistoffelees was often given to more... smaller (?) male actors. Which Steve knew he wasnt that small.
"Well maybe its because your an amazing dancer who ive witnessed do like 50 pirouette in a row, AND could easily steal the show, but doesnt like admitting how good he is out of fear people will think hes some rich kid who just gets roles handed to him instead of trying really hard because his parents disowned him leaving him to work paycheck to paycheck while also babysitting to get through performing arts school?" Robin smirked up at him over the copy of the letter telling her she got 'Skimpleshanks the railway cat', the same role she auditioned for.
Chrissy laughed, her role as 'Victoria' also displayed out infount of her, "You know shes not wrong stevie!" Mischief glinted in her eyes as she held her girlfriends hand.
Steve looked to the two of them and huffed, "I can do like 27 not 50." He roled his eyes at the unimpressed look Robin gave him, but it didn't last long before they all laughed.
Steve was pleased for them, he and Chris had met as kids, the two children of rich familys who had convinced thier parents to send them to dance school, who also lived in the same small town, quickly became close before chrissys mother moved her away. Thankfully however, they reconnected back in college away from their controlling families.
They had met Robin in a production of Wicked a couple years later, she was playing Elphaba while Chrissy was Galinda and Steve had the role as Fiyero.
Mid way through practicing the production, there had been a fire in the theatre that had him and Robin trapped for hours in the bathroom. It had left Steve with a pretty nasty concussion too.
While hiding in one of the musty old stalls, they had a heart to heart were Rob had confessed her feelings for their co star and couldnt go through with kissing Steve on stage. He had understood and after being saved from the burning reck of the old theatre, desided to come up with a way to help with Robin's stage kissing problem.
Turned out, after talking with a couple of the kids he babysits, there was an easy change that could be made to the story that fit the character archs better, aswell as not force Robin to have to kiss a boy on stage.
With permission, the kids had taken the script, making a change that left the two women as the love interests instead, while the Scarecrow Fiyero took over looking after Oz. It was an instant hit, pulling out the shows hidden queer themes. Also leading to the now power couple that is Robin and Chrissy, who didnt take long after the first show to confess to eachother!!
Now him and rob share an apartment, with Chris basically living there too even though she had her own apartment and roommate too. All now being told they finally all were cast in the same production again!
"I dont even get to sing my own song though!" He slumped into the sofa, taking a moment to glare at Robin as she chuckled at him from where she sat on the floor between Chrissy legs.
"Yes buttttt you get like the coolest costume and the best dance number all while being serenaded by whoever is playing Rum Tum Tugger!" Robin threw her hand that wasnt being held by her girlfriend in the air as she talked, "Plus Mistoffelees has a bunch of like, jumps and spinnys which is like... literally your favourite thing to do when dancing so dont worry about how you got the role, be exited that you get to do it!!!"
Steve looked down and smiled, "I am exited... it's going to be the first performance with us and all the kids either performing or working front or back of house... plus Jon said hes helping backstage this year and doing promotional work, and Hoppers joining again, I so am exited. I just want this to be perfect Robs."
He looked up to see his best friend giving him a knowing smile. They had worked hard for this, both with unsuporting familys, all the tireless classes, with boring tough part time jobs to afford paying off loans and rent. They worked for this.
Even if this was performing as mystical, jellicle cats on Broadway.
"If it helps," Chis let go of Robin, scooching her legs around her girlfriend so she could move to cuddle into Steve's side. He leaned into her, snorting slightly hearing Robin huff that steve stole Chrissy from her.
"If it helps, I'm almost certainly convinced I know who got Tugger if your wondering who got to sing your song." She beamed at him, excitedly grabbing his hands in hers and pulling them both to be sitting up as Robin came and rested her arms on their legs, "my roommate auditioned for Cats aswell! He doesnt often do shows like this but his dream role ever since I ment him has been Rum Tum Tugger!! Hes really good aswell so if its him I bet you guys would work wonders together!"
Steve laughed and shook his head. "You make it sound like Mistoffelees and Tugger are inlove!?"
The girls gasped! "Steve I know you're a dingus who probably has enough brain damage to stop you from performing, but you HAVE to know of the power couple that is Tugoffelees!?!?" Robin said sounding aghast from where she sat on the floor, hand to her chest and everything!
"Omg EXACTLY!!" Chrissy looked between Robin and Steve, "Tugger doesnt want everything he cant have, stealing the spotlight whenever he can, while misto playfully acts uninterested when every fauns over Tugger, ONLY FOR Rum Tum Tugger to sing an entire song dedicated to Mistoffelees being perfect!?!? I dont think so steve, that has gay and smitten written all over it!!!"
Steve snorted and shook his head, looking at the girls like they couldnt be serious. When he noticed their expressions hadnt changed, still holding firm about this suposed truth for these beloved characters, he looked at them like they had grown a third head.
"They are CATS??" he said incredulously!
"THEY'RE GAY CATS STEVE!!" The lesbians yelled back in unison!
He groaned knowing he wouldnt win this argument, even tho being queer himself and understanding what it ment to have characters like them in media, especially theatre. Still he had never been able to get into any fandoms, even if he did perform in some shows with respectably large ones, much unlike his female counterparts who revealed in needing out one every musical they heard. So honestly the concept of how two cats based on children's poems were gay? Very possible. Was he about to analyse every rendition of the character to determine their sexual preferences?
Yeah no, he would much rather just dance his little heart out performing as said character, than worrying about anyone else's but his owns sexuality.
Plus, he doubted he could even have the same 'romantic tension' with he co star, whoever he was, anyway. He had given up on romance ages ago since his last relationship with Nancy Wheeler, a kick ass reporter who had been writing an article about how the group had gotten the chance to rewrite parts of Wicked, crashed and burned the night of the grand finale.
Steve gave out a long suffering sigh, "Uhhhh fine you win gay cats," he rubbed a hand over his face, "but really chris, your roommate? I thought you said he was in a metal band??"
"Oh he is!" She absent mindedly went to stroke Robin's hair as she spoke, "but he and his best friend are in some of my music classes, they often audition for more 'out there' parts. His most known role was the Phantom in Phantom of the opera, and I think his friend got Michael last year in an off Broadway production of Be more chill, they both auditioned for this show aswell! They have like amazing range as singers!!"
"Well if they get any parts it's going to be nice to finally meet them!" Rob says looking pleasantly blissed out from being pet by her girlfriend. "You've been rooming with this guy for like three years and I dont think I've seen more than a picture of him!"
Chrissy giggled, they all knew her roommate was her other best friend she lovingly called rockstar to the point no one was sure what his real name was. At this point it was a running joke to see who ever could meet him first since the man was often sleeping, or away through out most of the evening and night. Constant clashing of schedules making it so neither him or robin had met the elusive man. Which was kind of shocking since apparently to chis, he was very hard to miss!
"Definitely!! Hes out of state till next week, just before rehearsals start actually, so I was wondering I could stay here till hes back?"
"Do you really have to ask Chris?" Robin asked, making her girlfriend turn to her with a shy smile.
"I love having you here and so does Robs, you practically live here at this point" steve pointed out, "honestly I'd tell you to move in if I knew you didnt like liveing with your other friend so much!"
They laughed, "Steve made a great point love, you should know you are always welcomed here!" After getting a chrissy giggle of approval, Robin stood up, immediately pulling the other up with her!
"Now come on! We just got the greatest job offers yet, we need to celebrate!!" The woman dragged them, all laughing with her, too her and Steve's liquor cabinet. Opening it and reaching in she pulled out a bottle of vodka that Murray, their very... exasperated acting coach, had lovingly gifted them after their auditions.
Robin looked Steve in the eye, a glimmer of something mischievous as she brandished the bottle.
"Presto!"
here's some stuff about chrissy i've spewed to just about everyone a bunch of times except for tumblr.
chrissy was obviously enduring verbal abuse from her mother. she was degraded and made to feel like she was fat to the point where she developed an eating disorder. these facts are presented pretty damn clearly for you in the show, it's canon. my headcanon is that laura cunningham projects a lot of her own stuff onto her daughter, too. like she was once the perfect daughter, but then she got pregnant right after high school and had to be the perfect wife instead. i think she's trying to set chrissy up for that life. jason and his family are rich and respected and she thinks chrissy needs to lock that down so she's taken care of after school like she was.
i think her relationship with her father was more complicated. they show him with his mouth sewn shut in her nightmare/encounter with vecna, which makes me think it symbolizes he turned a blind eye or never spoke up against her mother's abuse. i headcanon that he works a lot so he's not around much, too. he's the more religious one and turned laura on to that life when they got together, which added to that pressure of her being perfect for him. now she's running the whole household, forces everyone to go to church and be all "holy" and shit.
last in the family is chrissy's little brother. he's only ever shown in that family portrait that comes up, so i think their relationship was either a typical sibling dynamic or they they protected each other. my headcanon is that their parents are FAR more lenient with him. he's never given them any real problems and therefore he's the perfect little boy. i think he's the same age or a year younger than the core group of kids so he's grown to understand by now that his mother is a real bitch to chrissy and tries not to give her a hard time.
and then we come to jason. you can tell by how uncomfortable chrissy looked at the pep rally that he's probably got some boundary issues or just does NOT know his girlfriend. mason dye has said jason never really saw chrissy. she was there to prop up his popularity/image. i one hundred percent think he's right. the boy had some pretty obvious control and anger issues too. he was a religious nut and lead a witch hunt to take down eddie without knowing what actually happened. then he pulled a gun on lucas, his friend and teammate, and refused to listen to him. he didn't even know something was going on with his own girlfriend.
my headcanon is that he and chrissy vaguely knew each other at school but they met through their parents at church. then when it got to be their sophomore year in high school and they were both climbing that social hierarchy, jason asked chrissy out as some power move. i think he totally wanted to be steve harrington and he took that "king" title as soon as the opportunity presented itself. chrissy thought jason was handsome and probably got egged on by the cheerleaders to go out with him, so she agreed cause it felt like the right thing to do. he was probably the perfect gentleman at first, but quickly just slipped back into only caring about his friends and basketball. that shout out at the pep rally? he might have thought it was some romantic gesture, but subconsciously he did it because it made him look good. he should have known it would make her uncomfortable but he never really paid attention to her to really know what she did and didn't like. i think despite all the religious aspects that he totally would have pressured her into having sex with him too. he was absolutely a self serving, one pump chump.
i'm glad that you like clipping. i was hoping you would, i really like daveed's musical style as well. also @ will we love both of the songs you recommended! usually when y'all recommend songs i pull up lyrics to study and think about while i listen but when y'all recommend songs i already have fully memorized i just just to bob around and think about y'all and reminisce.
today i have Cheesy Halloween music! (we have so many cheesy halloween songs in our possession as well as? several tapes of just halloween and horror sound effects that i'm pretty sure are dr. crane's? i'd accuse dr. west as well but we've had them longer than he's been around).
i'm recommending: batman, wolfman, frankenstein, or dracula by the diamonds for steve, halloween from the be more chill musical for billy, spookmaster by the ghastly ones for eddie (to me the song sounds like you introducing a big bad in your d&d games), riboflavin-flavored noncarbonated polyunsaturated blood by the rigamorticians for your jonathan, and every day is like halloween by ministery for will. also just generally recommending brains! and zombie prostitute, both by voltaire.
this one isn't halloween related but scav was lured out with miss lucy and the water fountain song and has been very insistent that i add the clapping song to the list.
@harringtontm LEFT A LETTER: ‘  If I show you, I don't think you'd understand.  ’
Tumblr media
                             Chrissy is quiet for a moment as she sits beside Steve, trying to consider his words. So they were both kids who came from cushy families, they grew up in the same small town, and they'd known each other for what felt like forever. What wasn't there to understand? It's just... Life was more complicated than what was on the surface, no matter how loud it was. Chrissy was popular, her family was rich, everyone seemed to like her, she had the perfect life on paper... But things were very different behind closed doors.
But she couldn't expect Steve to know that. Still though, she wanted to understand if she didn't already.
❝   Then teach me. I wanna understand. ❞  Chrissy gently says as she looks over at him, hopeful he would trust her enough to tell her what was going on.
I NEED ;) a poly Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson fic with either any kind of reader. Maybe protecting each other in the upside down, or being completely parents to the kids (lots of cute fluff), or reader is with Mike/will/the others because they went with Mike to see el and Will and Eddie/Steve thinks they are safe there and it’s funny because it then goes to their pov and their being shot at (maybe they call each other at some point and their like got to go we’re running from the literal FBI).
Relationship HC's - poly!steddie x reader
most likely you and eddie met steve while going to pick a movie as a treat for him since you tutor him so he wont fail senior year a third time
steve went through his usual bi panic when he saw these two pretty people walk into the store and tried to turn on The Harrington Charm™️ and lets just say hes lucky you both thought he was cute
so badda bing badda boom ur all dating
the party loving you to bits
not being upset when you get asked to "babysit" or just hang out with them, like being an extra for hellfire, chilling and listening to music with max, etc.
and also eddie adores you for being into dnd, he tried to get steve into it and he loves him but was like nah 😐
10 Things I Hate About You steddie au
(note this is a modern au because i didn't want to deal with homophobia and also the fruity four are all in the same grade because it's easier)
steve and nancy have been close since they were kids, they dated their freshman year before realizing they were better as friend
but they still go to all their school dances together because nancy asked steve to help her and he's still totally whipped (friendship addition)
they also both realized they were bi when they were sophomores and are out and proud because why not
steve still has a reputation among the school because he's a giver ;) so he and nancy are the king and queen of hawkins high (also steve is still a basketball star which helps)
but he's not great at romance because anytime a date is like 'wanna go to homecoming?' he's like 'but i'm going with nancy???'
(he's a bit of a himbo but we love him anyway)
nancy is kind of the untouchable ultimate prize at the school, so naturally every guy wants her, if only for the clout
(hence going with steve to every school dance)
enter billy hargrove
billy obviously decides he's going to take queen nancy to senior prom if it kills him, because it will get him so many cool points
but first he has to get steve out of the way
his father, an even bigger douchebag, is the one who comes up with the idea of paying someone to seduce king steve, even offering to fund the endeavor
(max is not aware of this plot, because billy knows full well she'd snitch to her favorite babysitter in 2 seconds if she knew)
speaking of max - steve and nancy have been friends for ages. so obviously steve knows nancy's dorky little brother. one time their sophomore year, nancy was supposed to babysit mike but she wanted to investigate something for the school paper and convinces steve to take her place
mike has all his friends over, and steve ends up getting along with them really well and starts hanging out with them and the next thing he knows he's a single mom of seven
quick overview of the kids:
will was missing for a week when he was ten and he was discovered kidnapped two states over with his bio dad
el is hopper's adoptive daughter and will's stepsister and pseudo twin. she was raised in foster care and did not have a good time
dustin is still dustin, and latches onto steve immediately
lucas is steve's basketball protege
erica is still cooler than all of them
and max is still billy's stepsister and spends 90% of her time avoiding home whenever possible because her mom is a drunk and billy and neil are... billy and neil
(steve figures this out and unofficially takes her in)
steve and nancy are semi-friends with jonathan but he mostly hangs out with argyle smoking pot (hopper is resigned)
anyway billy needs the perfect candidate to sweep steve off his feet, and he finds it in eddie munson
eddie is a year older than the rest of them because he was held back his freshman year since that was the year his mom died and his dad went to jail
(A/N no shade to eddie, btw. i failed half my classes sophomore year and dropped out junior year because i had a nervous breakdown and was in iop treatment and later discovered i was physically disabled so like, eddie bby i feel you)
eddie runs hellfire, the dnd club, and sells drugs, and there's rumors he killed someone so billy's like 'he's perfect'
(eddie did not kill anyone. chrissy od'd in front of him and he saved her and brought her to the hospital but rumors gonna rumor)
eddie's best friend is robin, who's had a crush on nancy for years but is too afraid to ask her out despite nancy being out as bi
eddie hates steve, btw, because steve is rich and handsome and popular and on the basketball team and also steve was a dick to him when he was a freshman before he and nancy realized they were bi and eddie holds a hella grudge
so eddie's like, i get payed to pretend to fall in love with king steve and afterwards i can pull one over him? plus i get to watch billy totally fail to bag nancy wheeler? (because he's well aware this is going to blow up in billy's face) i'm in!
robin's less enthused, but she agrees to keep quiet about everything despite feeling icky about the situation
so eddie asks steve out. and because steve being a dick when they were freshmen was really steve pulling eddie's pigtails, he's quietly ecstatic
'nancy, /eddie munson/ asked me out! isn't that great?'
and nancy's a little suspicious, because the vibes she got were that eddie hates steve, but she chalks it up to eddie also pulling steve's pigtails and just warns him to be careful
(spoiler: it was absolutely eddie pulling steve's pigtails. he's hella jealous, he just won't admit it to himself)
so eddie and steve start dating, and steve introduces eddie to his kids, and eddie dm's for them, and he gets to know steve, and
oh shit
oh shit he's /nice/
and hot and sweet and kind of a dork?
(meanwhile robin continues to pine for nancy, and because their best friends are dating they start hanging out and 'eddie this is terrible! she's so pretty and smart and badass and -')
eddie starts feeling really guilty for everything and tries to call it off, but billy offers even more money, and look, there's a reason he's a drug dealer while still in high school, okay? they have bills!
so eddie goes to the kids to help him convince steve to take him to prom instead of nancy, and as incentive offers to hook nancy up with robin so she's still covered
and steve asks nancy her permission, and nancy likes robin so she's like 'hell yeah'
cue prom night
steve and eddie and nancy and robin are all having a blast when billy shows up and starts yelling at eddie that 'i payed you to seduce harrington so i could bag wheeler! why is your dyke friend going with her?'
steve's like 'wtf eddie is that true?' and eddie's like 'it's not what you think!' and steve bolts, eddie following close behind
nancy proceeds to deck billy and kick him in the balls, just like the movie, because that scene is perfect, then threatens to shoot him if he comes near any of them again
meanwhile eddie catches up with steve only for steve to slap him and yell for like five full minutes and he's crying and eddie has never seen steve cry and 'oh god this is awful, i'm the worst'
also - i want robin to have some consequences for knowing and not speaking up. i want nancy to tear her a new one. obviously they make up later but i feel like nancy would be pissed that robin knew and never said anything and steve got hurt because of it
'i trusted you! i trusted you and eddie and you were lying the whole time! i knew something was off, i never should've trusted you!'
nancy and steve proceed to isolate and cut off everyone but the kids (and maybe jonathan)
the kids, meanwhile, who had loved eddie, are horrified
max confronts billy for the first time to scream at him and when she finds out neil was involved she's like 'fuck it i'm moving out'
(Protect Max Mayfield 2022)
idk if she moves in with steve or the hopper-byers but either way she's fucking furious at eddie
and dustin and mike, who'd both begun to really look up to eddie, are incredibly betrayed. they can't believe he'd hurt steve like that
and of course english class was studying sonnets and steve, with nancy's help, writes The Poem and reads it to the class before breaking down and crying, again, and nancy is giving eddie death glares and meanwhile eddie is just... /so/ guilty
the kids decide to band together and confront eddie only to find him wallowing, a complete mess, and he confesses he really is in love with steve and he ruined it
so they decide to help him find a way to make it up to steve (after yelling at him for a while, because he shouldn't be let off the hook just because he's in love and sorry)
idk how eddie would make it up, but steve eventually forgives him and they all live happily ever after
the end
Maybe I'm dumb (?) but I still don't get why Eddie didn't like Jason? Like, we never seen Jason bullying him or anything. Actually, he is the one who provoked and, as you said, Jason only got violent when he had to deal with a very hard situation, so I doubt that he left his gold boy image before Chrissy's death. (Not defending Jason by the way)
Hi! You're not dumb! Good point. I guess the assumption that Eddie didn't like Jason came from two things: the cafeteria scene and the Munson Doctrine dialogue. It's easy to understand why Jason didn't like Eddie. But Eddie's antagonism seemed all bias. Now, he turned out to be right about Jason being a jerk underneath all the prep, but the assumption is, again, that they were mutually bullying toward one another. Jason calling Eddie "freak" in front of the whole school, shouting it, shows he's not afraid to be totally rude to Eddie. Maybe because everyone at school doesn't like Eddie, so it's safe for his reputation to insult him. Jason's the school hero, Eddie's the school villain. Yeah, in the one scene we saw, Eddie provoked Jason. But that kind of implies to the viewer that the two of them have crossed warpaths before. Eddie is supposed to have an obvious mental stigma around jocks and rich kids, but no more than Jason and the rest of the school have an obvious stigma surrounding Eddie and his friends. I think it's a mutual dislike based on completely contrasting personalities. Also a lot of people like to sprinkle in the idea that they both like the same girl. And that's super enticing, and it actually would be believable if Eddie had confirmed been crushing on Chrissy quietly since middle school, and there's Jason, everything Eddie despises, dating Chrissy. That makes the cafeteria scene hit differently and I enjoy speculating about that, but-
There's no confirmation of that, so I'm not gonna put that much into it. I think if Eddie has a baby crush on Chrissy, a back-burner crush like I've described him having before, then that just definitely wouldn't help his already-present animosity towards Jason. Jason is everything Eddie doesn't like. Eddie is everything Jason doesn't like. On the surface. If Eddie got to know Jason, he might see Jason is driven and has a code of morals and tries to take care of his own. Jason might see that Eddie is the same way. They have that in common. But they're teenage boys, and they can both be jerks, and they have a lot of pride. The difference between the two is that when Eddie is proven wrong about a presupposition of his, he gives in and recognizes he was wrong. (Erica in D&D, Steve Harrington in general, Nancy Wheeler with guns in her bedroom, Chrissy not being mean and scary.) Jason can't handle being wrong and refuses to accept it, even if it means he's gonna shoot a freshman over it. Between the two, Eddie definitely seems like the better person, despite appearances, but that's Stranger Things' M.O. People are people underneath, regardless of how it looks. You're seeing everyone's life through a keyhole; no one is just how they appear. I don't think Eddie ever assumed Jason was that violent person that he became after Chrissy died, no. I think Eddie assumed Jason was just a token popular rich-kid jerk. And he turned out to be correct, in a way. Jason's life circumstances led him to believe he was always right, and that made him dangerous and horrible to people in the end. Eddie already knew the guy was proud. That pride just became volatile when something crazy happened in his life. So yeah, that's why I think Eddie disliked Jason. It's simple-ish, I guess? I mean, you shouldn't assume things about people; you should believe the best about them with some natural instinctual caution. But in this case, Eddie was right to dislike Jason. Just not for the right reasons. In my opinion!
Gosh I love these asks-
Saw something about how Jason was "better" than Billy because Jason was "just misunderstood" whilst Billy was racist.
Pissed me off. Billy is clearly a traumatised young man trying to hide behind the idea of a "real man". He is racist but its almost a private thing and I could (and do in my HC for my Billy) imagine him regretting this.
Jason... Jason comes across as the most privileged, rich kid. Basketball legend. Basically Steve at the start of Season 1 but without the charm. He stirs up MOB JUSTICE against the "different" kids. Threatening to break one kid's fingers, beating up another and inspiring another basketball ass to pin down and threaten a 10 year old girl.
Jason is not a better person.
You want me to feel sympathy for Jason? Give me a background where his dad has made it clear he better be the big basketball star (there's a lot of daddy issues in this show so it'd make sense). Where Chrissy was the only good thing in his life and he handles her death badly because he's lost the one thing that made him feel good. That he feels he has to put on a front because of who he is.
Make him survive and begin to attempt to make ammends.
Get Steve to give him a serious talk. And Billy. They've both been there in their own ways.
Oh shit
I'm going to add a repentant Jason the Asshole aren't I?
