this is mainly me rambling so i apologize in advance, but in general, i'm loving the pjo show and i feel like with each episode it's gotten stronger so yay ! but i do agree with the common consensus that so much of the action feels watered down ??? and besides it most likely being a symptom of disney (🙄), i think this also has to do with the slightly quicker pace - like either the episodes should be a bit longer or extended to 10 instead of 8 going forward idk

like i love when we just focus on character moments, and the added interactions we've been getting are great (annabeth with mrs. dodds, the trio bonding/bickering, etc) but the lack of REAL action is starting to stick out, and i know this is meant for children, but so were the books !! stop sanitizing things - percy talks about how life as a halfblood is scary and grim, so show us !!! when scenes are rushed we don't get to fully sit with the fear and tension that the characters must be experiencing, as well as the pretty high stakes of it all, which effects the audience's connection to the story/characters. just let us be truly afraid for them !! and while i don't have much of an issue with how the timeline of events in the novel has changed in some spots, i think it adds to this, and hopefully they figure it out down the line bc i think the maj of the problems can be solved by just looking at the pacing !

Mulan constantly being heartbroken is a tragedy. Her feelings for Aurora get somewhat mentioned in season 2, 3 and 5 but the only ones who know whats going on are we as the viewers. So she doesn't even get comfort.

I supposed, while on her journey with Red, she tells her in some way or form. How could she not. It's very obvious that Mulan developed some feelings for her when we meet them again in 5x18 and Red opens up about Dorothy.

You can see the pain in Mulans eyes. Poor thing.

Call me desperate if you want but I think a headcanon where Mulan, Dorothy and Ruby travel around the realm and sometimes meet up with Merida - who gets set up with Mulan by the others - is a very nice, very happy ending for her.

She needs to have a romantic adventure of her own for once.

ngl I feel like people really over-exaggerate how bad modern Marvel movies are. Most are just mid and causing superhero movie fatigue. They aren’t an affront to god like how people on the internet act. Especially when you compare them to some of the terrible live action remakes Disney keeps shitting out.

I don't have that same feeling about the first Merida episode, but I was thinking and this second episode (The Bear King) is by all means a fine episode. And to be honest fits the ouat formula, the one that has gotten memed several times:

Merida is trying to find her father's killer to get a magic helmet her father got from the witch. So she recruits the help of Mulan, who fought alongside Merida's father. At the same time Arthur joins the Wicked Witch to find that magic helmet. (In other words, that post about quasimodo asking where's the amulet and edgar from the aristocats hanging out with lighting mcqueen)

And it's stupid but that's kinda the fun about this show's premise. The problem is that the show evolved to focus just on the snow white story, and not even from the fairy tale version, but it's own show version. So you have this entire plotline be about the Dark One, something that is not a fairytale but comes directly from the show, and suddenly they put you a season 1 episode that includes a lot of characters that have nothing to with that plotline, after a big cliffhanger related to the main characters and original show story
