That’s How (Shinsou x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shinsou x fem!reader
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: Very light mention of insecurities and cursing.
Genre: Fluff with a dash of angst
A/N: This is based on this one TikTok I saw a while ago which was this cute song. It was really cute but I couldn’t find it.
Summary: You may or may not have accidentally confessed your feelings for Shinsou during a late night/early morning FaceTime with him. The obvious solution is to avoid him.
Prompt: “I think I’m in love with you.”
Tumblr media
You couldn't sleep.
It was 3 a.m. You’d tossed and turned but alas, sleep just refused to come to you. Your brain just couldn't stop thinking.
Now, this wasn't a new occurrence. You were known to have the occasional bout of insomnia. However, it was significantly more difficult this time around.
Previously you'd had your best friend, Shinsou, to keep you company during these sleepless nights. He often spent most nights up until the early hours of the morning, so when you had trouble sleeping, you'd sneak over to his room. The two of you would play video games, watch movies, or just talk. It was fun.
This year was different, however. Since Shinsou had been accepted into the hero course, he’d also had to move dorms, which made sneaking over to his dorm room just about impossible. You really wished you had a teleportation quirk right about now.
If you were being completely honest, the thing or, well, the person your brain couldn’t stop thinking about was the indigo-haired insomniac himself.
Over the past year, you’d developed feelings much stronger than just friendship for him. You loved how you could talk to him about anything and everything, his sarcastic nature, and how he didn't give up on his dreams of being a hero despite his quirk being considered villainous by many.
You didn't think your feelings were utterly one-sided. Or at least you hoped they weren't.
Sometimes he did little things that made you think he likes to back. Like, for example, he always remembered even the tiniest details about everything you'd tell him, whether it was your favorite pocky flavor, which he just so happened to always have on hand, or that one episode of that one show that always makes you shed a few tears. He always tried to help you study, even now that you weren't in the same curriculum.
Though, there was the possibility that you were sure you had to be projecting your feelings onto him. That you'd wanted it so bad that your brain convinced you that he returned your feelings.
There was no way he liked you, right? After all, the Hero Course was filled with so many nice, attractive students. Who are training to be literal heroes! Shinsou Hitoshi is handsome. Many others find him attractive. So why would he choose you over them?
Still, sometimes it felt so real.
You decided just to bite the bullet and confess to him.
The thing is, you’d been trying to confess to him for weeks now. However, there was always something in the way, whether it be the bell ringing, school work, classmates, or even teachers. On the off chance that there weren't any interruptions, your nerves would get the better of you, and you'd ultimately chicken out.
Suddenly, you had an idea.
Getting up from the bed, you turned on the lights and walked over to the mirror you had in the corner of your room, just to make sure you didn't look too bad.
Deciding you look decent, you climbed back into bed and grabbed your phone, unplugging it from where it was charging on your bedside table.
Shinsou always had trouble sleeping, so he’d most definitely be up. You could just FaceTime him. It wouldn’t be the same as your old late-night chats, but surely this would be just as nice. You just really wanted to hear his voice.
Before you could talk yourself out of it, you called him. He usually answered pretty quickly whenever you called, but this time it seemed like he wasn't going to. Just when you were going to hang up and surrender to the uneventful hours ahead of you, he answered.
It seemed as if he had propped his phone against something, maybe a wall, so he didn't have to hold his phone, but you could still see him. The sight before you made your heart flutter.
A very sleepy-looking Shinsou Hitoshi was on the other side of the screen. His usually messy hair was even messier than usual, and he was wrapped up in what you could only describe as a blanket cocoon. He was lying down on his side, cheek smooshed against his pillow adorably, so that he could property face the phone.
”Hey,” you greeted, waving a bit even though he couldn’t see you, realizing you'd been too quiet for too long, ”Are you awake?” You immediately wanted to punch yourself in the face. Of course, he was awake. How else would he have answered?
“Mm, not really,” he said in a sleepy, raspy voice, followed by a yawn.
You immediately felt guilty. Just your luck, the one time he could get some actual sleep, you'd wake him up.
”No? I am so sorry. I'll just- well, I'll just call back later, it's nothing important or anything. It's stupid really,” you rushed out, looking away from your phone, regretting the idea immensely.
”Don't worry about it; it's okay,” he reassured. God, his morning voice would most definitely be the end of you. You were okay with that, though. It would be a great way to go, all things considered. “How are you?”
You guys talked for a while, about anything and everything. You told him about how General studies were going and any new classroom drama. In return, he spoke to you about how the Hero Course was and told you stories about all his new classmates. It was nice.
After you finished telling one story about how your class currently had an ongoing prank war in the dorms, you looked to your phone to see he had fallen asleep. You couldn't blame him. After all, you'd called really late, and apparently, his class had been put through the wringer during a training exercise during the day.
You were going to hang up, really you were, but he looked so calm and at peace. You couldn't bring yourself to look away. Much less actually hang up the phone.
”You know how I've been trying to tell you something for a couple of weeks now?” you asked the sleeping Shinsou while looking up at the ceiling. Your sleep-deprived brain decided that, hey, he's asleep, now is a good time to practice declaring your undying love for him. ”Well, I guess what I've been wanting to tell you is that I think I'm in love with you. I've been trying to tell you for forever now, but every time I try to tell you, a million thoughts go through my head all at once, and my brain short circuits, and I wanna kiss you so bad, but I don't know how.”
You couldn't help but laugh at how horrible that sounded, relieved he was asleep. You would definitely not be confessing like that.
You looked back at your phone, expecting to see a sleeping Shinsou.
Only, he was very much, not asleep. He was looking at you with wide eyes, mouth slightly agape, obviously surprised. Your blood ran cold, heart-stopping for a couple of beats before restarting at high speed. You swore he would see your soul leave your body.
You were startled into action when he started to speak, hanging up the phone before he could get a full word out.
He tried calling you again, but you didn't answer. You felt like throwing up and weren't quite ready to face the possibility of rejection.
One thing was for sure. You were not getting any sleep tonight.
Tumblr media
You were avoiding Shinsou like the plague.
Was it a little immature? Maybe.
Did you plan on facing him anytime soon? Fuck no. You knew it was a cowardly move on your part, but you just weren't ready to face rejection just yet. You'd leave the bravery for the hero course students.
So, you’d resorted to eating lunch out in the courtyard and going back straight to the dorms as soon as class was over. Thankfully you had a pretty good idea of Shinsou’s schedule, being such close friends with him and all, so you knew what hallways to avoid when making your way to class. Sadly this also meant you had gotten to class late once or twice.
Your plan, though carefully and strategically thought out, only really worked for three days.
Your last class of the day was English. It was, to say the least, a little dull. You wanted nothing more than to get out of the stuffy classroom the moment the bell rang. Still, you stayed in your seat long after the classroom was deserted, taking longer than necessary to pack everything.
You'd waved off your friends, telling them you'd meet them at the dorms in a bit. After all, the longer you waited, the fewer students you'd find roaming the halls, which meant the less likely you were to run into Hitoshi.
After around 20 minutes, you decide it was safe to leave. It had been a long week, with all the school work, avoiding your indigo-haired crush, and you’d gotten little to no sleep this week. You wanted nothing more than to get to the dorm and change into the most comfortable pair of pajamas you owned, perhaps take a nap as well.
Yawning, you gathered your things and made your way out of the classroom, wondering whether or not you felt up to joining the weekly movie night in the common room.
On the one hand, you felt like sleeping all through the weekend. On the other hand, you felt like you hadn’t hung out with anyone in forever, with changing your schedule so abruptly. You owed it to your friends, especially since they’d brought you food from the cafeteria.
Maybe-
“Well, well, look who we have here. I take it you're not done avoiding me yet?” Your heart leaped to your throat. You knew that voice. Almost too well. In fact, you doubted you’d ever be able to forget it.
You turned around, shoulders a bit tense.
There stood Shinsou Hitoshi, sporting the same messy hair and tired purple eyes. He was leaning against the wall, one leg propped against it, shoulders crossed, and a backpack slung against his right arm. You couldn’t help but glare lightly at the shoulder with the bag strap. You always scolded him for doing that. He was going to end up hurting his shoulder. He was right next to the door you’d just exited from, obviously waiting for you.
He was a sight for sore eyes.
You hadn’t quite realized how much you’d missed him these past couple of days until just now. It’d only been three days without him around you, yet those had been the three most challenging days you’d had in a long time. You’d been moody, mopy, and, as much as you hated to admit, irritable. The effect his presence had on your mood was almost frightening.
You wondered if he felt the same way.
“I haven’t been avoiding you,” you tried to defend yourself feebly, wringing your hands together while looking at your shoes as if they were the most exciting thing you'd ever laid your eyes on, ”I’ve just been strategically going where I know you won't go.”
”That’s the textbook definition of avoiding someone,” Shinsou said in a deadpan voice, rolling his eyes. You winced slightly. He used his leg leaning on the wall to propel himself a bit away from the wall. He walked until he was right in front of you, close enough so that your shoes were touching. You felt your heart was somersaulting in your chest.
”Look, ” you started, taking a tiny step back, bracing yourself for the inevitable rejection. Rejection sucked, sure, but at least you'd get your best friend back. ”I’m sorry for avoiding you. I was just- I guess I was just embarrassed. Really embarrassed. I still am, actually. I didn't want you to find out like that, and then I just freaked out and hung up on you and-”
You were caught off abruptly by a pair of warm hands cupping your face, followed by a soft, slightly chapped, pair of lips on yours, not a second after. Apparently, Hitoshi had decided you were rambling too much, and kissing you was the obvious way to shut you up.
You really hoped this meant he likes you back. Otherwise, it was just going to be really weird between the two of you.
The kiss was relatively short, but sweet nonetheless. He pulled back after a couple of seconds, a small smile gracing his face.
”That’s how,” he stated, dropping his hands from your face.
You blinked in confusion, letting out a ’Huh?’ noise. You were still a little dazed.
”When you were confessing your undying love for me, ” you rolled your eyes at that, ”you said you wanted to kiss me, but you didn't know how to. Now you do. Feel free to do so whenever you feel like it.” With that, his left hand grabbed your right, lacing your fingers together, pulling you a bit so that you'd start walking.
”This means you like me back, right?” you asked, just to make sure, swinging your hands in a gentle back and forth motion.
He turned to look at you incredulously.
”Nah, we’re just really close friends, ” he teased, sarcasm dripping from his voice, as you exited the building. This caused you to glare playfully at him, bringing your free hand up to flick his nose lightly so that it wouldn't hurt.
”Where are we going?” you inquired curiously once you realized you weren't heading in the direction of the dorms.
”On a date.”
“Shouldn’t we change out of our uniforms first?”
After the both of you changed out of your uniforms and dropped off your backpacks at the dorm, the two of you had dinner at a nearby Cat Cafe.
It was pretty purrfect.

Can we please have more deets on the Tea Shop Au?!
(Canon-adjacent, no guardian or miracle box, Alya doesn't know)
Marinette has had it quite rough the last few years. A bullying situation that hasn't really gotten better, a super hero partner who can't stop flirting with her and because he "loves her too much" (sure, it was cute at first but it's been a long time and a lot of "no"s and he still hasn't gotten it!) and a friend group who can't seem to stop prioritizing her romantic life over her mental health.
On top of that, she's been having to deal with her parent's particularly nasty divorce, rapidly building responsibilities as both Marinette and ladybug (especially with planning for higher education), and other hassles that come with turning 17.
It all comes to a breaking point over such a minor thing- yet another trip to Andre's stall- and Marinette is not in the mood to tolerate having the flavor of her ice cream chosen for her and to watch her friends make goo-goo eyes over each other. She's happy for them, really- but does she have to play third wheel all the time??
A heated argument with Alya ends with Marinette storming off and getting herself lost-- although, lost is a relative term, as she knows Paris better than most Parisians.. but it must be the case, as she stumbles across a tiny, alleyway teashop called Alleycat that she has never seen before- and she's sure she's been in every alley in Paris!
The shop is run by a foreign boy named Felix Sphinx (thus, the name Alleycat), who tells her that he decided to run away from home a long time ago and that he runs the little shop alone. What he dosen't tell her initially, is that he is a MIraculous holder! The Kwami of Luck, Kitti the Calico Cat, has been his companion since he was a child- having found her miraculous in the woods behind his family's home. He has recently found out that the scuffles in Paris had been centered around the miraculous, and he came to learn more about them and has set up shop to both keep himself busy and to keep himself afloat.
Kitti's ambient luck swings both ways, and while he's been able to keep up rent and pick up french pretty easily (and eventually meet Ladybug herself! Even though he dosen't know it yet.) he also suffers from sudden misfortunes, meaning he's a lot more humble than your usual Felix- and thanks to Kitti's companionship, a lot more sociable as well. Though he very much still prefers the company of books and rainfall.
Marinette, exasperated, asks for something to drink, and is honestly thrown for a loop when asked for what she wants- still in that "soulmate icecream" mindset. Which keeps her comping back to the teashop for more (and is delighted to find out that he also makes Boba)
Eventually, an issue arises where Felix & Kitti are forced to help, and he finds that the hero life is pretty agreeable with him, so he- as Chat Calico, offers his help as a consistant hero, and his polite manner endears Ladybug to him almost immediately, largely to Cat Noir's chagrin.
Not a whole lot of identity shenanigans tho, as Kitti lets it drop pretty early on that Marinette is Ladybug, which confuses her as Kwami were not supposed to spill identities. Turns out it's a Lucky Guess.
Chat Calico uses his coin to force odds in battle. The coin has a clover on one side, and a cat on the other. Flipping the coin toggles the flow of luck, and the person who holds the coin gets the benefits or downsides of it (barring himself, mostly). Only he can flip the coin, anyone else who tries will only have the coin land the same every time. Kitti's miraculous is a silver bell on a silver chain
thats all I got for now.

Wanna know what I’ve been doing? Well thanks for asking. Along with a few other fanfics, and occasional art, I apparently decided it was time to take Nanowrimo seriously and take on the task of writing a novel. Here is a small piece of the first chapter (any mutuals that wanna see more feel free to text me and I’ll send ya the link to the google doc.) Also I’d like to inform you that besides eye color and height, Aluma is meant to be whatever the reader envisions. Her hair might be one color but that is changeable (as stated).
With the World on its Axis sneak peak
Chapter 1: When You’re Here
Usually the door of the shop opening was signified by a ding that filled the air. In events like this, not even the ding could beat him and his usual entrance.
“Ah-lu-maaa,” he announced as he threw the door open like the menace he was. She couldn’t even say anything, just rolled her eyes. This was routine. He would call her name before the door could even fill open, before the almost immediate chime could go off. He’d always greet her with that Cheshire Cat grin. If his eyes weren’t covered, she bet his would would be sparkling with some form of unbridled chaos.
“Hello Argent,” she sighed softly, moving to start pulling an espresso shot. She didn’t need to ask him what he wanted, she already knew. She met his gaze as she started the shot, ignoring the espresso falling into the shot cups as she playfully glared at her friend. He pouted as he moved over to her.
“You weren’t here yesterday Aluma, do you know how awkward it was for me to walk in and find your boss just standing there!? I’m lucky he didn’t call the hero’s!” He slumped against the counter, planting a hand over his forehead like he was pretending to faint and Aluma wondered how much longer she could stand her idiot today. Usually the answer to that was a few more hours. He was her friend, even if he was annoying.
“Tavor wouldn’t call the cops. You’re lucky it wasn’t the other. I had a test last night. You’re one of the most dangerous villains in the town, maybe you should check who’s inside before slaughtering in,” She sighed as she moved to put the caramel and mocha syrups on his drink. She had made his drink so many times in the last six months that she didn't even ask anymore what he wanted, she just started making it. Grande, or medium, hot mocha-caramel with extra caramel, three shots, and no whip. Most people would be scared of Argent, he's the number 2 villain after all, but he wouldn’t dare do shit to her after how many times now that he’s saved her.
Their friendship, honestly, was a sight to behold in itself. Aluma, in all her five-foot four-inch height, had sharp silver eyes, and dyed hair, which was currently a faded purple although Tavor would buy her more dye in different colors if she asked. Argent, on the other hand, was almost six foot with covered eyes and auburn brown hair. Together they were a shocking pair but they were so close. A teen and a villain, currently staring at each other as they chatted.
“Uh huh? And then why haven’t you turned me in yet, my dearest danger magnet?” he teased and she rolled her eyes. If she met herself before that night, she’d be terrified of how she acted now. She was friends with a villain! It could jeopardize everything she’d been working for, everything she’d fought for. She knew that yet, she also trusted Argent, he was her friend.
“Because I’d be putting myself in legal trouble as I’ve been serving you coffee every night for six months, and you’re somehow my best tipper,” She stuck her tongue out at him as she poured the shots in the cup and began to steam milk.
“You do know that if I ever feared your safety, I’d leave in a heartbeat. If you asked me to, I’d leave,” he offered, his tone suddenly very serious as to push forward the idea that he wasn't joking at the moment. She smiled and glanced up at her friend before looking back down to pour the milk into the cup with espresso and flavor, before putting the lid on it, and sliding it out to him.
“I know, and that’s why I don’t ask… That’ll be Four thirty six,” She hummed, grinning up at her friend.
And there is more, even to this chapter, but here is just a sneak peak to what I’ve been doing.

Hi! I have a request, but first i wanna say your writing is absolutely amazing! The length + amount of time you put into these prompts is insanely good. Now! Onto the request, how would the boys react to a reader from a more modern era? Maybe a more modernized hyrule or our current point in time?
Masterlist
Thank you so much for the compliment! I'm happy to see the response even if this blog is still relatively new.
I hope I do your prompt justice.
I probably could have done a headcanon list but I was hit with inspiration.
I also might have given Reader some backstory.
Scenario below the cut! It’s long, take caution.
It was a cool night, but you didn't mind. Your bed was warm, the WiFi was fast and even if it was three AM on a school night, you managed to keep yourself giggling with cat videos and blursed memes until the words and colors merged.
A night well spent.
But it led to questionable decisions.
Even if the shredded cheese in the fridge was beginning to seem a more and more enticing snack, your body was tempted to succumb to slumber.
Until a large purple light encompassed the entirety of your window.
Something was in your backyard.
Aliens. Your tired brain supplies and you sprint to the glass and push away the curtains. Is this it? Is this where I'm kidnapped and never seen or heard from again?
You pull out your phone and open up the camera.
"Pics or it didn't happen." You remind yourself and snap a few before showing your face.
What you see isn't what you're expecting. Instead of a flying saucer in the sky beaming down a laser or a weird pear shaped space craft on top of the grass, there's a single panel of glowing light, swirling with black accents that creeps in a circular motion.
"Cheese and crackers...." You gasp and begin to blatantly stare at it with no regard to whether something may be coming out of it.
You wait and nothing happens.
You wait some more and nothing happens.
You spend an hour watching this portal that has appeared out of nowhere, waiting for something to happen, willing for something to happen. But you get nothing.
The unknown stares right back at you, unblinking and unchanged.
Go through it. A voice tells you. What if there's something on the other side?
"I'm going to die." You gulp and take a deep breath.
Who else gets a chance like this? The voice talks again. This could be a grand step towards a more modern society. A whole new world could be on the other side, waiting, reaching out, calling to humanity!
You think you a see a shadow move behind the portal and out of sight but it’s gone before you can even process it.
"Should I call the police?" You step away from the window, ignoring the thoughts, the voice- you're too tired to know if it's your own any more. What's the plan? How does one go about something like this?
Where’s your sense of adventure? Pack a bag and go! What if it goes away?
That last thought seems to get through to your tired brain and for a reason beyond your understanding, it latches onto it.
Now you’re excited.
You run to the closet and take out your old backpack. It used to be for school but it was fancier since it was the only one you could get. The bag had a replaceable water bag with a plastic straw connected through the back of it and the straps have just worn down enough to where they’re actually comfortable. It doubled as a hiking backpack and came with its own insulated lunch box that clasped on the back of it.
It’ll finally serve its purpose.
You quickly roll up your favorite blanket and strap it in tightly beneath the lunch box. You’re quick to take out two extra outfits and pack them as well as change out of your pajamas.
Ok. What would you need? You don’t know where you’d be going so this has to a catch all kind of deal.
You pack away your swiss army knife first for good measure. A solar powered charger for your phone and an extra pair of socks follow suit even after you’ve picked out the extra clothes.
You take out the water bag and run to fill it all the way to max capacity as you think of any other necessities.
You’d need food. You have a small jar of peanut butter and granola bars that can fit in the lunch box. You can bring your extra water bottle and put in the side pockets of the backpack, and maybe bring some of those powered flavor packets your brother loves so much. You think he has lemonade and some green tea ones.
Those would be great. He won’t mind, hopefully.
You let the bag overfill momentarily before running back to shove it in your bag. with the lid screwed tight.
Next you run to the kitchen, grabbing the first things that you thought of already and begin to look around for more.
You grab an unopened pack of beef jerky, a bag of veggie sticks and a half eaten bag of dried mangos.
During your search you grab the water bottle and fill that too.
You return to your room with your bounty and begin to carefully put everything in the box. With some more deliberation, you run back to the kitchen and make yourself a quick sandwich, eat it, make another one and pack that as well.
You look out side the window and the portal is still there.
The sun is beginning to rise now so you’re trying to go as fast as you can, unless you want to neighbors to think something is going on.
Even if it is.
You’re about to leave but in a stroke of brilliance, you run to pack sunscreen and bug spray as well. You see a small first aid pack that was bought recently for when you would take your family vacation but you reason that it might one of the most important things you’d have if you got hurt.
Into the bag it goes.
You grab your hoodie before you leave the door, wrap it around your waist and pocket your phone, your headphones and your wallet.
You feel immediately under packed when you step outside and see the portal up close.
It’s weirdly triangle shaped, you think and step closer.
You reach your hand out and try to touch it. It feels as if you put your hand through a humidifier but it’s not wet. It’s misty and cold but not necessarily unpleasant.
An idea hits you right before you take your first step through.
You pull up one of the earlier photo’s you took and send it to your friend’s group chat. It showed up in my backyard. I decided to make a bad late night decision and I’m going through. If you never hear from me again, I want you all to fight over my electronics. Winner takes all. Godspeed.
And you step through.
You had first assumed that it would merely take you tot he other side but very quickly realize that you have to walk through it.
The first part still had a little light but with time, it got darker. So dark that you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face.
You kept walking.
As fast as the light disappeared, it came back and you stepped into the light of an open field, right in front of one, two, three, four, nine males that had appeared to be traveling towards you or rather, towards the portal.
The portal disappears in the process.
“Oh so we didn’t have to go through it! We had to gain another member!” One of them yells. “Would have been nice to know before we packed everything up!”
“Ho boy, where am I?” You ask and tighten your grip on your backpack. Why didn’t I bring a weapon?
They all had long tunics and swords on their backs. Old fashioned leather boots and hand bracers were the norm in this group and you realized very quickly that your jeans and t-shirt had wildly missed the memo.
“Dang, I didn’t think I’d walk into a LARP group. Sorry about that.” You sheepishly smile. “I had no idea where the portal was going to take me. But if you would be so kind-”
“Wait, what’s LARP?” One of them speaks up. He was a dirty blond and somewhere in the middle of the group height wise. He wore a white cape like thing with blue designs on the back but you didn’t recognize the symbol.
“Live Action Role Play?” You tilt your head. “It’s why you’re all dressed like that? Right?”
“This is just our clothes.” What appears to be the youngest bounces up to you. “What are you wearing?”
“First I could grab in my closet.” You admit and look down on it. It’s one of your comfiest shirts and best looking pants. You’re a little proud of yourself for finding those in the dark.
“Weird.”
“We’re heroes. We’re all named Link.” Cape guy speaks up again. “Is it safe to assume that you’re in the same boat?”
“Heroes?” Your eyebrows furrow together. “I’m not a hero and my name’s not Link.”
You’re quick to tell them your name and you watch as the confusion covers their faces. “My brother’s name is Link though if that helps anything.”
“Oh we needed him!” The youngest groans and it instantly irks you.
“What would you need with a five year old?” You deadpan and cross your arms.
The information stuns the group.
“The portal showed up in the middle of the night and I’m the one that went through it. I’m pretty sure I was the only awake to even see it. Are you telling me that it was for my little brother?” You’d be lying if you said that you weren’t a little pissed. “My baby brother was supposed to go through it? He was asleep! He’s five. What kind of logic is that?!”
“Well...” The biggest and oldest of them runs a hand over his face. You think he has some cool tattoos and sick scar going across his eye but he looks about as angry as you feel, so you don’t say anything. “It appears the gods truly do not care for the hero’s maturity, only his existence.”
“Ok...What’s with all this hero talk?” You bite back. “What did... Where am I?”
“Hyrule.” The second with cool face tattoos speaks up. He’s got a large fur pelt around his shoulders and you have to tighten your grip against your backpack again to keep from reaching out to touch it.
Even so you feel yourself deadpan even more. “Hyrule? Like the ancient empire? The one that collapsed more than two thousand years ago? That Hyrule?”
You’re inclined to not believe them and write all of them off as crazy... but you also walked through a portal. And your grandma did say that magic existed in the strangest forms.
They all share looks of concern and some begin to murmur quietly amongst themselves but you’re too far gone to even notice.
“Did I time travel?” The idea hits you like a bus and you feel your eyes widen as you stare beyond the group. You quickly take our your phone and unlock it.
No signal.
“Is that a type of Sheikah slate?” Someone asks you.
“I don’t know what that is.” You reply automatically. “Wait, hold on, what year is it?”
“Why don’t you tell us what year you’re from and we can start from there?” The darkest brunette of the group speaks up.
“202x PC” You say robotically, not really processing the world around you anymore.
“That’s...” The blond with a long blue scarf speaks up with a slight hiss. “...Beyond any of our timelines. You see, we all come from different worlds and eras of Hyrule’s history.”
“I don’t think you’re the farthest down anymore, Wild.”
“This would then make them my successor, right?”
“It would make their brother your successor.” Someone amends. “I think they just jumped in his place.”
“Leave my brother alone.” You snap back into the present, pocketing your [hone again. “Ok, you know what, screw it. I don’t know what you’d want my brother for but I’m here now. I’d gladly take his place if it means he gets to stay home!”
“Hey.” A boy with pink hair stalks up to you looking a little more serious than you’d like.
“Nice hair dude, way to defy the gender norms.” You smirk a little before genuinely grinning, hoping to quell the tension. “What product do you use? It looks like Artic Fox but not every place sells their brand.”
“...I have no idea what you’re talking about but what happened to Ganon in your world? How have you been handling it?” He snaps and places his hands on his hips.
“Ganon? Like my old principle? That’s a name I haven’t heard in forever.” You’re confused again. “Last I heard he joined the police force only to be reassigned out of state. I don’t know what’s happening with him. Kinda hope he gets fired though. He’s not a bad guy but he’s not someone you’d want in that kind of position of power, you know.”
“Police force?”
You blinked and look them all over. They look very medieval. “Oh... You don’t have that...”
You begin to think about your history lessons and what they might be familiar with if they’re telling the truth about being from Hyrule.
“Ya’ll got knights?”
Many, almost all of them nod, a few with face of despair already on them before you finish speaking.
“It’s kind of like that. Mixed with a towns guard position... kinda. They enforce laws... at least they’re supposed to but the whole system is flawed and racist and really needs to be dismantled for the abuse of power that they have-”
“Abuse? Of power?” You have their attention again.
“It’s stupid and it won’t really make any sense if I try to explain because I doubt you have anything similar but it’s basically a group of people given the right to treat the public in anyway they like for their own benefit because they have no one telling them that they can’t.” You groan and slowly begin to feel your lack of sleep catch up to you.
You slowly reach to behind you and sit down on the dirt, looking at all of them. “Mr. Dragmire wasn’t like...Demise or anything but he was a huge jerk. No one liked him. He liked me though. I remember that. I was the envy of the whole school because I somehow got on his good side while everyone else wants to strangle him. I think he was transferred for some misdemeanor or something like that... like he might have been throwing hands with someone he wasn’t supposed to. I never heard all the details. I didn’t really care for it when it happened either. I’m pretty sure he lost that fight though. The dude looked like a blast of wind could have knocked him over let alone someone’s knuckle sandwich.”
“I would love to hear more about this.” The youngest sits next to you with a large grin on his face. His eyes are bright and his body language reminds you of your cousin Zelda. You instantly think they’d get along like a house on fire. “What are your monsters like?”
“Monsters?” You tilt your head. “Be a little more specific bud, it depends on where you’re from.”
“You have that many?!”
“It depends on if you believe they’re real or not.”
“Speaking of monsters, can you fight?” The shortest walks up to you. You like that his tunic is stitched up with multiple colors and designs. It gives it personality, you think. “Do you have a weapon you’re more comfortable with?”
The question throws you off your rhythm and you don’t fight your wince. “What would happen if I say that I do not, in fact, have any sort of weapon on me?”
“I wouldn’t believe you.” Pink guy speaks up again. “That pack is huge, there has to be something in there.”
“It’s food, water and extra clothes my guy.” You lean back against said backpack since it won’t let you lay down with it still on. “Not a lot of space for anything else. I’m pretty good at hand to hand combat though. Karate’s a good way to fight out stress.”
“Your bag’s not magic?”
“Why the hell would it be magic? ...Are you trying to tell me magic actually exists?” You raise an eyebrow as your eyes begin to close against your will. “I know my grandma said it does but I thought she meant like fairies and shadow demons.. and bigfoot. Can’t forget him, he’s the real MVP... You know...Children’s bedtime stories and stuff like that, it’s not real. But like magic magic? Magic items and the like? Find me Tinkerbell and I’ll show you Neverland, that’s what I say.”
“Are you serious?”
“Second star to the right, straight on till morning.” You respond.
There’s a moment of silence as the group in front of you processes your words. It’s hard to tell their reaction since you’re not looking at them but you no longer have the energy to do anything else.
“Are you falling asleep right now?” It’s the one they called Wild.
“I...” You try to open your eyes. They don’t budge. “I haven’t slept in nearly 20 hours... I think. I might have past 24 hours a while ago actually. Portal showed up at like four in the morning... I had to get up at six and I didn’t sleep at all before then.”
More silence.
“Great another one.” Someone scoffs.
You snort.
“Why did we pack up camp again?”
“No one kill me.” You say right before you lose consciousness. “Please and thank you.”
“They’re doomed.”
“Have some faith Vet. They stepped in for their little brother. That has to mean something?”
“They’re in for a rude awakening, and that’s all I have to say about it.”

That anon coming at you thinking you wouldn't have sources to back up your criticisms of the show has the same energy as a Karen asking to speak to the manager, not knowing the the underpaid, beleaguered employee they've been berating is the manager
pfffft.
me, flashing my nametag: ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to leave
Anonymous asked:
Honestly the people who are honestly convinced Marinette never gets punished, Marinette never rejected Chat Noir, and that she was leading him on are seriously just watching the show with Adrien vision I don't know what to say.
Really these people go on hating Marinette for “being an obsessed Adrien stalker” but these Adrien stans are freaking obsessed with their favorite blonde boy and can only uplift Adrien by putting down Marinette. It is creeping me out!
My reply got long so I put it under a read more lol
The weird part honestly is that most of the stuff they get on her case for in terms of “stalking” is stuff that I would expect people to know of a celebrity they’re interested in in a TV show. The trend with them is usually that they can’t go anywhere without getting attention, so like--yeah.
the pictures (which disappeared in the entirety of Season 3 and only pops up in Season 4 at the writers’ convenience with no explanation) - can be taken from magazines/websites
the schedule (which got upgraded to a general non-Adrien-specific schedule in “Gamer 2.0″ anyway) - stuff I would expect to hear Adrien tell Nino at school while Marinette’s sitting behind him; if you wanna confess to a celeb or ask them out, better make sure you know when he’s free (plus, “Lies” has a camera crew literally just following Adrien around on his day),
stuff like his favorite macaron flavor - stuff I’d expect to hear from interviews
+ “stalker” is a very loaded term and I feel like calling Marinette one actually downplays the danger and cruelty of actual, real-life stalkers
other bonus/additional things:
“Copycat” - it was Alya’s idea initially to go get Adrien’s phone (and Tikki even broke into the locker without much of a fuss; Tikki’s supposed to be Marinette’s moral teacher); Marinette didn’t take it with intent, she panicked and made an impulsive decision (also, this is a narrative issue because they needed to ensure that Adrien didn’t hear the recording or else Marinette probably would’ve been rejected and could’ve moved on)
“Volpina” - required and encouraged by Tikki in order to check on the book; Marinette also wanted to reveal what she was doing in order to tell Adrien that Lila stole from him but she got increasingly angry at Lila insulting her hero self (while Adrien didn’t really say anything in defense of Ladybug, which was strange; also, semi-unrelated because it’s not brought up as an option, but Lila coming in suddenly and being adored by a bunch of students is suspicious and sounds like akuma behavior)
“Ikari Gozen” - this is more of a narrative issue I have with the episode than anything else (I’m not saying that Marinette’s in the right); Kagami was acting strangely and Alya was onboard with sabotage, and they (the writers) couldn’t find a way for Kagami to reveal that she wanted Marinette to be a friend without Marinette peeking into her phone (also, the hypocrisy of the narrative getting on Marinette’s case for invading people’s privacy while:)
Sabine lowkey threatened to look at her emails and diary in “The Bubbler”
Alya peeked into Chloe’s locker with her phone and the narrative had a very black-and-white view on it (Chloe bad, Alya good, since it took pressure from Chloe for Mr. Damocles to do anything; also, the school doesn’t have a rule about invasion of privacy???)
Chloe going into Marinette’s locker to sabotage the gift is treating by Miss Bustier as something for Marinette to just “forgive and forget,” and Chloe comes out on top in the end while Marinette apologizes to her (Chloe never apologized to Marinette herself)
Marinette was forced (narratively) to reveal what was in her private chest to a child in “Christmaster” (regardless of akumatization - that thing that was caused by Marinette doing basically what Alya did in “Stormy Weather” - Marinette’s personal things are none of Chris’ business)
The girls blatantly invade Marinette’s privacy in both “Gang of Secrets” (after lying to her that she could talk “when she was ready”) and “Backwarder”
“Oni-Chan” - Marinette’s worries about someone getting hurt because of Lila is literally what happens when Kagami gets akumatized; regardless of Marinette’s actions, her fears were valid and ended up coming true
“The Puppeteer 2″ - never would’ve happened if Alya hadn’t orchestrated a whole plan, if Tikki hadn’t tried to give Marinette “advice,” and if Adrien hadn’t tried to prank someone that he even said in “Riposte” got flustered easily
“Chat Blanc” - never would’ve happened had she not been under extreme pressure and a literal threat from her friends to not hang out with her anymore
And the gross part of all of this is that they (the fandom)’ll treat Marinette horribly for having a crush that’s so “extreme”/”awful” (which was made worse  and then get mad at her when she can’t move on/get better all on her own. Like, pardon? This crush is apparently the worst thing ever but she’s also expected to do it all on her own while her “friends” keep pushing for the ship? I would think that the worse the problem is, the more help one would need.

mine — katsuki bakugou
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yandere! katsuki bakugou x reader
cw: yandere au, 3rd year bakugou, violence, reader got female genitalia, anger, off-“screen” murder, mention of (minor) character death, blood, lucidness, possessiveness, degradation, manipulation, stalking, threats, masturbation, implication of sex, swearing, assault, narcissism, horror, slightly delusional katsuki, panic attack, non con, mention of suicide
- I do not condone any of the behavior here, nor do I try to romanticize it. (definition: make it seem like a good thing) any future/current dark fics are purely for entertainment purposes. Also, I don’t think bakugou would EVER do this- I’m just using some dark traits he used to have and twisting them to fit this situation. Not completely proof read and edited, I am exhausted right now I’m sorry. I say some mean things about some characters but I don’t mean it 💗

Look at me.
Look at me.
Look at me.
Look at me.
Look at me.
WHY WON’T YOU LOOK AT ME.
Poor little Y/N. You’ve caught the Big Bad Wolf’s attention. Ready to snatch you up and drag you into the deepest parts of the forest where no one will ever find you.
You’ll be all mine, and I’ll be the only thing you’ll ever have to see again.
You’ve been in the same class for 3 years now- and all he had to show for it is an occasional wave, and a shy little “Hi Bakugou” every morning that made his heart leap out of his chest.
Enough for most, but not for him.
In turn, he would tsk. Facing away and setting his head down on the desk- attempting to hide the roaring blush adorning his cheeks and the subtle shuffling in his pants- the way your voice alone could make his balls tighten in need.
Still- you give him merely a glance. He is always around you, but your attention is given to someone else.
Any extra would overlook his grumbling for typical-Katsuki doing his own thing. In reality, he’s holding himself back from snapping and taking you by force.
He wants you to come to him.
You have no reason not to. He’s perfect. Probably the best student to ever enter U.A. High, and on path to become the best pro hero to ever graduate from it.
Coming first in both the Entrance Exams AND the sports festival- a victory he still denies, holding some of the highest grades in class- 3rd only to some geek girl he could easily out-rank in combat and that shitty half n’ half. Even perceptiveness, intellect, and determination that can rival dumb Deku.
He even possesses great skills in cooking and music- Katsuki is a natural-born genius. Anybody who isn’t conscious towards his incredible talents might as well be living under a rock-
Unbeknownst to you, he’s giving you the generous chance to decide when you’ll be his. But his patience wears thinner every day.
It would have only taken a second to turn around in your seat and notice his piercing red eyes glaring at the back of your head.
So why don’t you notice me.
-
He doesn’t understand why it’s you he obsesses about. He can’t even remember when this whole mess started.
He tried denying his feelings. But quickly- they built up and festered inside him, begging to come out. Love, possessiveness, same thing.
Whether it be watching your twist and turn in the obstacle course- then running to the nearest bathroom to furiously grip his cock.
Snatching your chapstick when you’re not looking and rubbing it all around his own lips- imagining that’s what your lips would taste like if you just kissed him-
Restraining you during combat training by wrapping his arms around you- squeezing your breast a little more than necessary. Pinning you to the floor until you admit defeat.
Or even sneaking into your dorm while you’re in the shower to grab a new pair of panties from your dirty laundry, adding it to the stash he keeps hidden under his bed.
Stalking you. Keeping you close at all times without you even knowing it.
Indeed, he knows he’s a sick and twisted human being.
But by now he hardly cares- he’s worked too hard to ever even imagine of changing his perfect target. Nobody is more deserving of you than him.
So if he has to confront, threaten, and beat every single person in this stupid school to monopolize you for himself- he gladly will. Anyone who goes againts that is challenging him.
He scoffs anytime a boy approaches you- it’s well known around school that anyone who attempts to buddy up with you mysteriously ends up in a hospital room with no recollection of what happened. People even started seeing you as a sign of bad luck.
He’s nice enough to allow you some friends though. But only ones who will guarantee you’ll be around him as much as possible.
So you sit with him, Kirishima, racoon eyes, dunce face, and tape boy in lunch. No one else. Right in front of him.
You’re chatting away with Mina, but unusually, something special came up in conversation.
He always stays focused on his lunch- switching between listening in and day dreaming about bending you over the lunch table and grinding on your ass-
Katsuki’s stomach dropped. His eyes widened- what did Mina just say?
There’s a boy in the management department, a quirkless 2nd year nobody smart enough to somehow get into U.A.
And he asked you out on a date after school.
Shit.
No.
No no no no-
No- this isn’t how it’s supposed to-
My throat burns.
When did he- when did you-
You’re going to say no, right?
I cant breathe.
You don’t like anyone- I know this
I know everything about you- I-
My chest hurts-
You’re mine.
And if he thinks I’ll share then I’ll-
“Mina stop being so loud please...” your delicate little voice whispered.
The rest of the table already took notice of what was going on- bombarding you with questions that made you flustered.
“Woah woah- Y/n, what’s your answer?” dunce face peeps out, Bakugou swore he could smack that grin off his face right then and there.
Katsuki turns to look at you again- a chill traveling down his spine once he made eye contact, but your stare quickly fell to the floor.
“I’m not sure yet- probably not.. ha.” You shrugged- a light pink dusting over your cheeks. The others, satisfied, dismiss the topic.
Had it have been anybody else observing, they wouldn’t have thought much of it. But Katsuki knows you like the back of his hand. Successfully deceiving him would be harder than taking down All For One.
You’re lying... aren’t you? In front of him too- All because of this quirkless fucking loser-
Katsuki hates lies.
.
.
.
I’m going to kill him.
-
The walk back to your dorm was disappointing to say the least. But you can’t expect someone to be in the best of moods when they’ve been stood up.
You almost couldn’t believe it either- he had seemed so kind and genuine that you stood there for an extra 2 hours. But that’s your luck with boys-
‘I hope you got a good laugh out of it, jerk.’ You huffed before inserting the key into your rooms lock.
Turning on the lights, you allow your eyes to adjust for a moment before stepping inside and walking to your desk.
“You were waiting for that jackass for so long I almost started thinking you would never come back...”
You let out a startled cry before dropping your keys and whirling around in a flash- recognizing Katsuki’s back as he slowly closes the door.
“Bakugou? Why are you-“
“was he really that special.”
“What do you mean was....“ It’s then you noticed the blood dripping down his arms and hands- your door decorated with the same shade of crimson.
“oh my god.. Bakugou,”
That’s why the poor boy never showed up.
You knew about Katsuki’s “little” crush on you for a while now. His stares weren’t exactly the most subtle after all-
You found his uncertainty adorable, heck, a part of you was waiting for him to confess. But you would have never imagined his infatuation went this far.
“It doesn’t matter anyway. He’ll never love you as much as I do.”
He lifts his head, and your eyes meet his. Bloodshot- as if he’d been crying, but the evident smirk on his face showed nothing but pure malice.
“Not that he’ll ever get the chance to anyways”
He’s too fast, too close to the door, he has all the advantage in this situation. But you have to try. You have to leave this room at this very moment or you may never make it out alive. There’s no reasoning with him.
You clutch your heart. He steps forward, and you instinctively bolt to the door.
A few easy moves and he has you pinned by the neck on the ground, legs bent and used to hold your arms from jerking too much. His free hand is outstretched, creating small explosions that made you automatically stiffen your movement.
“Bakugou please- I won’t ever tell anyone, we can forget about this and I’ll pretend it neve-“
“I don’t need you to be quiet. I’m the boy who rejected a direct offer from the League of Villains, one of the best students in U.A. high- even if you do rat me out, they’ll never believe you...”
His grip on your neck tightened- nails cutting through skin and little droplets of blood start showing up. His hand starts heating up and a panic courses through your veins.
“I’ll kill you before they even begin to suspect me.”
Choked sobs escape your lips from the pain and fear surging through your body- “I- I thought you said you lo-loved me.”
“I do... that’s why you’ll be mine forever.”
He leaned down, low enough for you to feel his warm breath- then used his tongue to sadistically lick off the tears running down your cheek, a salty but satisfying flavor entering his mouth.
“In this life, and the next. It’s up to you when we see the later.”
You nod, hoping he relaxes the pressure on your neck. His face softens, something you swore you would never see in Bakugou. He releases his hold.
“You made me mess up your neck, next time don’t be so mean.”
He tilted your chin up, observing the scratches and bruises littered all around it. As soon as he determines there’s no serious injury, he picks you up to lay you on your bed. Climbing in next to you and wrapping an arm around your hips.
“Couples cuddle like this all the time don’t they.”
You gave him silence, although he didn’t mind. With one glare he had you shuffling to move closer to his chest.
“they also kiss.”
You know that right now, there’s no point in fighting. So you give in to what he wants in hopes that one day, you’ll break free from the hold he secretly had on you for so long. You’ll play along. You’ll survive.
You shudder as his hands reach to cradle your cheek, wiping the blood of the boy all over it. He loved it. It proved he won. He gave a light kiss to your lips before attacking your neck, set on putting a new type of bruise on you.
“You should start calling me Katsuki.”
“Ka- Katsuki.” You barely managed to whimper out.
He caresses your hair, cooing soft whispers into your ear in an attempt to calm your sniffling. An action you would have seen as sweet if it weren’t for the constant threat of death over your shoulder.
Your breath hitches in horror as you feel his warm hands trail down your body, gripping your smooth inner thigh before delicately starting to drag his fingers up.
“You know...
You silently beg for him to stop.
“There’s one more thing couples do.”

Ivan closed the door to his room, then opened his pocket to let Wayzz free. They both knew that Wayzz could just phase through the pocket if he wanted to, but it was a mutual gesture of respect between them.
"I was watching the footage on LadyBugOut's archive," Wayzz said as he flew a small distance away, facing Ivan with a smile. "You did well."
"You think?" Ivan grinned and rubbed the back of his head, growing sheepish at the praise.
Wayzz nodded. "The want to protect others is our strong point. Have you done it before?"
Ivan shook his head, walking over to take a seat on his bed. "No, I never had superpowers until I got this."
"Not that," Wayzz said with a chuckle. He flew over to the little area Ivan had set up for him - a little crudely done but made with love all the same - then sat down and got comfortable. Spreading his arms out, he then explained, "Being a turtle means much more than protecting people. We protect hearts as well."
Ivan genuinely considered that. He supposed it made sense, as Ladybug could fix things emotionally with no use of Miraculous Ladybug needed. Likewise, Chat Noir—
...actually, that was best not thought about.
Shaking his head, he returned to the root of the topic, replying, "I guess Mylene says I'm good at cheering her up?"
"Yes, it's like that." Wayzz smiled approvingly. "We aren't limited to Shell-ter."
Ivan nodded, but frowned as he realized, "I don't know if I'm as good at it now when I'm busy being a hero."
He was referring to Mylene.
Wayzz smiled sadly, getting up and floating over to rest on Ivan's shoulder. "We can't be perfect everywhere," he said, lightly patting Ivan's neck in reassurance.
Ivan glanced over at him, but didn't respond. He'd been a hero for a while, but it still felt unreal to him. He stared down at the disguised bracelet, idly running his fingers along the thread around his wrist as he admitted, "But I still don't get why I got picked?"
It was more idle curiosity than outright self-consciousness. He didn't doubt his abilities, obviously, as he was aware that every hero had their strengths and weaknesses. Being part of the team, it was inevitable to start seeing the flaws of every team member, so he wasn't singling himself out. At the same time though, he couldn't help wondering what had made him special. He was the first ever akuma, and even in the movie he'd shot with the class, he was the monster, not Mylene's charming love interest. That wasn't to say he didn't have a presence, but people often considered it to be a bad one.
Even though his statement had been casual, Wayzz seemed to think about it like it was serious. Ivan leaned back on the bed, his hands on the mattress to support himself as he waited for an answer.
"...One thing about heroes," Wayzz began, "is that they're not always who you expect. I've had many turtles in my lifetime, and not all of them seemed fit for the role. They all got chosen for different reasons, because turtles aren't decided by their personality alone. There are always different things that have to be taken into consideration."
Ivan tilted his head to the side. "Really?"
Wayzz nodded. "Your impressive bulk wouldn't be as useful if the rest of your teammates were built in the same way. There have been small turtles who were fit for the job because of who they were fighting and the teammates they were meant to protect." Looking up at Ivan, he then added, "You do well at protecting others, and your features balance out the team."
Ivan understood, even though it was hard to imagine "other turtles" beyond Carapace, and the mental image made him unable to help asking, "What about the other one?"
Of course, he could've had no idea that Wayzz had another turtle that he had no knowledge of, but Wayzz was aware of it, so he focused on Carapace.
"The turtle then - really, all of the temporary heroes - were chosen for being at the right place at the right time. They did their job well enough, but it was a matter of convenience. They fit their miraculouses enough to do their job, and being chosen afterward was for their experience. They were never intended to be permanent."
"Oh." That made sense, Ivan supposed. It was like their costumes Marinette had made for the band's audition as Kitty Section; they'd served their purpose at the time of making an impression, but they'd never been meant for them to be their permanent ones, especially considering the time crunch.
"Are you happy?" Wayzz asked suddenly, like something had just occurred to him.
Ivan blinked, not understanding.
"With being a hero," Wayzz clarified. He flew off of Ivan's shoulder, descending upon the little box of tea that he always seemed so fond of. He ran his paw along the surface, not doing anything in particular, but seeming to reminisce. "We want our holders to be happy with themselves. We know it's not always fair to suddenly give someone a miraculous."
Ivan didn't have to think about it too hard. While it could be a little disappointing whenever he had to run off on Mylene or his other friends, he also knew that he was doing good work and was helping keep Paris safe.
"Yeah, I'm happy," he replied. Then, after a moment of thought, he asked in return, "What about you?"
Wayzz seemed surprised to be asked such a question. He looked down at the little tea box again, resting both paws on it, then smiled faintly. "I am. You're not like any of my other holders, but that's not a bad thing."
Ivan smiled back, then focused on the little box of tea that Wayzz was still hovering over. Ivan pushed himself off the bed, then hunched over, pointing to the box in question. "Do you want some?"
Wayzz looked up at him, then back down at the box. Ivan had been taught enough about tea - thanks to Wayzz himself - to know how to make it for him, so it wasn't an unusual thing for him to ask, but Wayzz had never actually used the tea in that particular box before.
"Oh," Wayzz finally said after a moment. "...Yes, I—I think I do." He glanced up at Ivan again, asking, "Would you like to join me?"
Ivan frowned in thought, almost feeling like he was intruding on something personal. He'd never had tea with Wayzz before. "Uh, okay, but I don't know how I'd want it."
"That's alright!" Wayzz said, perking up as he flew up to Ivan's face. "We can experiment with similar tea first. There are many different ways to flavor it, and with the right combination, I'm sure we can figure out what you like; sugar, honey, milk, there are a lot of options. You know, one of my previous holders—"
Wayzz floated happily towards the door, continuing to ramble, and Ivan smiled genuinely while carefully picking up the box of tea. He remembered how sad Wayzz used to be when they first met, but even though Wayzz still grew quiet at times, he was happy now.
They both were.

A look into LadyNoir for my Reversal AU, The Other Way Around. You don’t really need to read the other parts to get this one :)
Title: The Other Way Around, Part 3 Pairing: Lovesquare (LadyNoir)   Rating: G+ Word Count: 2.5K
The first time Marinette really interacted with a cat was at a friend’s house. She was six years old at her very first sleepover. Nervous and shy, she’d spent the majority of the evening worrying about what would happen once the lights were out. She’d never had to sleep through a night without her parents or family with her. No amount of cartoons or pillow fights could fully ease the fear of impending darkness.
The other three girls seemed totally adjusted and excited, but Marinette could hardly eat dinner even though it was pizza from their favorite spot. Then she nearly burst into tears at the table when they served the cookies her parents had sent with her, overwhelmed with missing them so badly. With her eyes stinging and her voice ready to cry out that they should call home to pick her up, Button the cat suddenly sprung onto her lap. She was a fluffy tan thing with two black dots going down the center of her back, hence her name. In that moment she looked just like a chocolate chip cookie, albeit one that blinked up at Marinette’s face with huge, adorable brown eyes. The cat smooshed her head against the girl’s stomach, sat down, and began to purr. In her surprise and fascination, young Marinette forgot what she was so upset over.
She never had pets growing up—the hair was too much to maintain when her family also lived in a bakery—so she hadn’t any courage to approach Button before, even when the other girls had spent time petting her. She knew cats had claws and their yawns revealed sharp, pointy teeth. The last thing she wanted was to get scratched or bitten when she was already terrified. Cats had been a scary mystery. Button was small and fluffy and warm. The moment she cuddled up to her, Marinette fell in love.
After that day, cats became her favorite animal, and while she still wasn’t allowed to have one (despite the begging and puppy eyes that her mother valiantly fought against with gentle reasoning), Marinette surrounded herself with them as a good luck charm. She had kitty keychains, plush toys, cat-covered folders to take to class, and cat-print bedsheets. The obsessive phase lasted for three years, but the fondness stayed even when her room took on a pink and floral theme to match her changing design aesthetic. Obviously when she found the giant body pillow shaped like a cat, she knew she had to have it anyway. After long days of dealing with Chloe’s yapping and her own special trademark combination of back luck and clumsiness, hugging that massive squishy cat became her ultimate comfort.
That was, until another cat fell into her lap. Well, crashed into her entire body was more what happened.
When she was gifted her miraculous, Marinette thought herself a poor fit for a superhero. She liked leadership positions and really didn’t have a big problem taking charge when needed, but saving lives was a ton of pressure. She’d thrown her yoyo randomly, not sure of a single move she made, and in doing so managed to tangle her partner and herself up despite the superpowers. Chat Noir seemed more natural, and surely he deserved a partner that had the confidence to match his skills instead of her. Marinette was stuck in her head with apprehension. She’d totally screwed up her very first mission by letting the akuma multiply instead of purifying it. She wasn’t excited to be a hero. She was terrified.
Maybe it was the cat bias that made her instantly trust Chat Noir, but it was the way he put his warm hands so squarely on her shoulders and assured her that she could do this, that made her fall in love. It was the second time a cat had saved her from giving in to her fears.
He gave her the courage to stand up to Hawkmoth, and the moment she vowed to take him down was a triumph of bravery. She wouldn’t have been able to do that without him.
Of course she fell for him.
He didn’t make it any easier for her as they got closer. He was just so endearingly sweet, throwing compliments at her all the time for encouragement.
If only she didn’t turn into an absolute pile of goo whenever he did. At least she was always able to pull herself together to get the job done, but it was his fault. What could anyone expect from her when her partner was talented, smart, super handsome, and somehow humble about all of it?
She’d witnessed how he avoided the spotlight in favor of checking up with akuma victims. She’d seen him time after time go out of his way to protect others, especially her, from harm’s way. And after he did all those things he’d throw her the credit as if she was the one saving the day.
They worked together well, reading each other’s moves and adapting to each other’s pace. But he never needed the attention, happy to just get the mission done. It was a side of him that she got to see when the crowds weren’t looking, proud at what they’d accomplished while holding his fist out to hers in solidarity to say, “We did it!” Together. Always together.
But then their miraculouses would beep, and they’d have to go their separate ways with her casting lingering glances towards whichever horizon he’d disappear off to.
At least during some of their mutual patrols they had time to talk. She looked forward to each one, no matter what other responsibilities she had waiting for her once it was over. Getting to know her partner was such a highlight to her identity as Ladybug. There was the triumph of victory, the thrill of the physics defying feats she could accomplish, the heartwarming gratitude of the citizens… and then there was this: sitting at the top of the Eiffel with their feeting dangling in the cool Parisian air, aimlessly talking above a safe city set aglow with evening lights; the warm sense of security yet tingling excitement of hanging out with her one and only crush.
“Favorite hot drink?” she wondered.
Asking non-identifying questions was their way of bonding without compromising themselves.
Chat Noir hummed thoughtfully over a cookie—raspberry macarons, a favorite she had learned fairly early on. “The hot chocolate you brought in the winter was great. Probably the best I’ve ever had, actually.”
She blushed and kicked her feet nervously. She swore that she would’ve tripped if they’d been walking. Somehow his compliments did that to her. “T-thanks.”
He grabbed another macaron and turned it over, studying the ruffled feet as he added, “Otherwise I’m really fond of tea. My mother liked English high tea; always insisted we have a tea break at some point in the day. When I was a kid I was only in it for the cookies and sandwiches, but at this point I like the drink too. It's nostalgic.”
He always got wistful when he spoke about his mother, but Marinette knew that train of thought would lead them to somewhere too personal. It wasn’t that she didn’t yearn to know more about him. Quite the opposite, but they both knew that it wasn’t safe yet. There had been too many close calls. She followed up with another question. “Any tea in particular?”
“Earl grey, usually. I’m a fan of London Fogs over coffee.”
She smiled down, looking at her home’s direction. They had a lovely macaron with that flavor as well, she thought. She could bring him a variety box next time. Maybe one day they could do tea together in some fashion. A picnic, perhaps? High tea during an evening patrol seemed a bit strange, but she could always brew him a decaf in a thermos so he wouldn’t be hopped up on caffeine. Or maybe that was too much if she was already bringing the same flavor in a cookie. Did hot chocolate go well with earl grey? What about the raspberry? Plenty of people ordered a variety of flavors all the time. Maybe she should throw in a few others for balance, like the rose ones. Wait, were rose flavored macarons too romantic? Would it seem like a date if she brought him flower-flavored food? Not that she didn’t want to date him because of course she did but—
“Deep in thought, Ladybug?”
Chat Noir’s twinkling green eyes greeted her, just a few centimeters from her face. He must have been trying to get her attention for a while.
Surprised, she suddenly scooted back and flailed. “Oh!” Thankfully she was securely seated on the beam enough to not begin a sad plummet to the ground. Desserts were well and good, but she’d prefer to avoid becoming a polka dotted pancake. “Yes, sorry! Did you say something?”
He laughed his magical laugh, accustomed to her tendency to get lost in her own head. “No need to apologize. I was just saying that it was my turn to ask a question before we turn in for the night.”
Ah, was it already time to go back? Sheepishly, the heroine smiled. “Did you already ask it?”
A flash of teeth showed off his mirthful grin. “I did.”
“Sorry.” He had already told her not to apologize, but it was embarrassing that she was fantasizing about dating him when he was literally sitting besides her. “What was it again?”
“I asked if you’ve been on a date lately, Little Lady.”
Oh.
Her mind short-circuited. Had she been babbling out loud? How desperate had she sounded? “What? Me! Doing to date you? I mean, going on a date with someyou? Someone!”
If her slip up meant anything, he didn’t acknowledge it. He never did. Did she want him to?
“Yep. Like a romantic one-on-one date. I, uh,” he bashfully scratched the back of his neck, “I’ve been thinking about it lately.”
A rush of blood warmed her cheeks. “Y-you were?” Thinking about dating someone? Her? Them? Romantically!
He avoided her eyes, choosing to look up instead as he laughed nervously. “For a while now. I don’t even think I could, but there’s a girl…”
I’m a girl, her brain supplied with excitement.
“You can’t ask her?”
He clicked his tongue. “There’s a few conflicts. First of all, I don’t know how she really feels about me, and… I don’t know how to say the other part without really giving anything away.”
Ladybug pursed her lips and gave him time, either out of courtesy or because she was freaking out and incapable of speech.
“Um, it’s like… an occupational issue, I guess. I don’t know if I’d be allowed, in a sense. Then there’s the issue that I know nearly nothing about dating,” he explained.
For all his vagueness, she fit his description enough. She’d never outright confessed to being in love with him, so he didn’t know her feelings. Also they weren’t really supposed to date with all their responsibilities, and wasn’t that just part of their job as heroes? So for all intents and purposes, Chat Noir really could have been talking about her. The possibility made her head spin.
Her hope was strung on a tightrope; a precarious position that could go either way. She could ask him directly if he meant someone in his civilian life or if by some miracle he was talking about her—or she could stay on the precipice between disappointment and bliss. But for all her clumsiness, Marinette preferred balance whenever she could manage it. So she stayed her course, eyes far from looking down at the possibilities and instead on the objective: answer him.
“I haven’t been on a real date recently, no.”
She looked for any hint about his feelings in his response, any indication that he was relieved or just pitied her. He simply nodded, leaving her clueless as she continued to walk the tightrope.
“Same,” he let out a whiny sigh. “I guess I can’t really ask for advice then. I’m terrible when it comes to romance.”
She traced one of her spots with a gloved finger, trying to keep a clear mind despite the slight relief that her crush wasn’t out on dates all the time. “I doubt it. You’re so amazing, you’d make any girl really happy and lucky to be with you.” Saying those words aloud had her face feeling as red as her suit.
“Luck is your department, LB,” he grinned. “I imagine admirers are chasing you left and right.”
“Not in any serious manner,” Adrien’s corny and outlandish attempts to get her attention came to mind. He was just a flirt by nature, hardly what someone would consider a real admirer. “I… I’d be happy to go on a date with somebody who really liked me though.”
He gave her a thoughtful look that made her pause.
She stood up suddenly. “I mean, not just anybody! Like… if I knew they actually liked me, then I might give it a chance? Depending on the person.”
Chat Noir smiled again, patiently letting her ramble as usual.
She took a deep breath to collect herself. “It doesn’t matter how experienced you are with dating, at least that’s what I think. If she’s a nice person then she’ll also understand and you’ll both get through it together. You just have to be yourself.”
“You’re right as always, Little Lady,” he sighed. Her stomach did a flip at the soft sound of his voice. “You know, you do give the best advice.”
Balance, she reminded herself. Tightrope.
But he spoke again, “I can always count on you to cheer me up if things go wrong, can’t I?”
The words were kind—like a soft breeze—which was just enough to throw off her careful, barely established balance; just enough information to tip her over to the fact that he must have been talking about some other girl if at the end of the day he could still find comfort in her, his partner.
And so she fell. Or, well, she’d fallen for him a long time ago. What did she expect? Something happier, she’d hoped. Something more similar to catching herself with her yo-yo, lifting back up to soar instead of her hopes tumbling down.
“Ladybug?”
She took a second to glance down at the ground where her heart felt like it had dropped. From their high position on the Eiffel, it was a long way down. For how much she loved him, she wasn’t sure just how her heart would break. Shatter like glass? Crumble to pieces? Or would it plummet and dent the floor because it certainly felt as heavy as lead when she turned to face Chat Noir, an achingly sweet melancholy painted on face as he smiled at her.
“Of course you can count on me. You and me against it all,” she assured, holding out her hand to help him up. It was time to go, after all.
He grinned as he stood, “Everything from akumas to heartbreak.”
She gave a weak laugh in reply. “Good night, Chat.”
“Good night, Little Lady.”

Can you do a prompt of Marinette being the daughter of the Joker and Harley but Harley left him before Marinette was born and when Joker found out about his daughter He decided to kidnap Marinette so she can become like him (Ace chemicals) (Daminette)
Woot, my first ask in a while! Let’s see how I can do this oddly specific ask that reminds me of a fic that might actually exist but tbh I’ve read so many fanfics idk if my brain is remembering right
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette knew Sabine and Tom weren’t her biological parents. She had known ever since she was eight, when her mother by blood visited her for the first time, sat her down, and explained everything. Including, but not limited to, her disastrously toxic past relationship, her new girlfriend, and her recent success with long term rehab (unofficial rehab that mostly consisted of illegal anti-hero actions, but hey if it worked it worked).
Marinette understood. Well no, she really didn’t since she was only eight, but she understood that her mom— that Harley— was genuine. She had always had a knack for emotions and telling when people were sincere or not. And Harley really was regretful about not being in her life beforehand, and was serious about wanting to be part of her life now that her own was mostly sorted out.
So Marinette was not surprised when Harley really did stick it out. When Harley cooed over Marinette copying her hairstyle to show her support of her biological mom, when Harley never failed to call at least once a week even if she was in jail for punching some asshole or another. Harley never stayed arrested long anymore, she was usually found to be on the right side of the moral scale more and more often so the police didn’t bother keeping her locked up anymore. Through the years, Marinette always looked forward to her mom’s calls. Looked forward to being lulled to sleep by one crazy story or another from her mother’s past. Everything was nice. Perfect, even, for a while.
A thump sounded from her balcony, one late night when Marinette was thirteen. Blinking, the dark haired girl furrowed her brows. Who would be on her balcony? Cautiously walking towards the trap door leading to it, grasping her metal pencil holder as a weapon (she remembered all of her Mom’s stories about break-ins and random attacks back in Gotham), the teen strained her ears. Akuma attacks were only a few months old now, but she had already become in high alert for any sign of Hawkmoth or his victims. As per usual, Marinette’s paranoia began to kick in. Did Hawkmoth already figure her out? Was he here for her earrings? Would she be able to fight him?
She gently pushed up the trap door, catching a glimpse of black leather. Huh? Marinette narrowed her eyes, confused. Was it Chat? He should have been on patrol, on the other side of the city. What was he doing visiting her?
Suddenly the trap door yanked the rest of the way open, making Marinette yelp as the handle for it rugged away from her fingers. And there, backlit by the pure blue-white moonlight, was Not Chat Noir. It was Catwoman, in all her skintight black leather glory, grinning at her before pushing her cat-eye goggles up to the top of her head and crouching down by the trap door’s entrance, balancing only on the pads of her feet.
“Well hello there~” the woman purred. “So you’re the cute little kitten Harley is so secretive about. Nice to finally meet you,” the woman held out a hand, sending Marinette a sweet, if mysterious, smile. For a while, the pigtailed girl only stared before a squeal of excitement left her throat, leaving very little room for any doubt as to her bloodline. A large smile curled over Marinette’s lips, leaving her beaming widely at the catlike woman on her balcony.
“Auntie Selina! Mom’s told me so much about you! Come in, come in, come in! I’ll sneak some macaroons up for you. Or do you prefer croissants? What’s your favorite flavor? Are you really dating Batman? Oh my goodness, that necklace is so lovely! Did you steal it?”
Selina could only chuckle fondly at the word vomit, letting the smaller girl drag her down the trap door and into her very… pink room. Looking around, Selina was once again slapped with just how similar this kid was to her outgoing friend. Marinette clearly had no shame in indulging in the things she liked, such as the color pink and anything regarding fashion. But there were other things amongst the girliness of the room, like the posters of Jagged Stone and the training dummy half-sticking out of her closet door. There were a few ornamental knives hung up behind her computer, seemingly just for decoration although Selina could see that they were definitely battle ready and sharpened. A small mallet, clearly a miniature replica of her mother’s own signature weapon, leaned up against the side of the girl’s laundry basket. But then there was Marinette’s mannequin, which was surrounded by meticulously cut pieces of cloth and had other pieces pinned to it strategically. Marinette clearly had the same professionalism and love for her chosen career that had so completely defined Harley in the Time Before Joker. The same genius intellect hiding in those deceptively cheerful bluebell eyes. And for the first time, though not for the last to be sure, Selina found herself thoroughly relieved that it seemed Marinette had inherited very little from her father.
Except, as she would learn from stories Harley told her later, an apparent affinity for chaos.
“I’m not that picky, kitten. But I’m not that hungry, so don’t go too out of your way,” Selina decided to just react the same way she did with Harley’s rambles, and answer one question at a time. “Also, I am actually dating Bruce Wayne. But, if you promise not to tell anyone—“ she waited for Marinette’s eager nod before continuing casually, “— the two are maybe not as mutually exclusive as many think,” Selina finished with a conspiratorial wink. “No, I actually did not steal this necklace. Bruce has been adamant in trying to curb me of my thieving habit by buying me almost everything I so much as glance at sideways. It’s sweet. Naive, because I like stealing for the fun of it, but sweet.”
Marinette giggled, bouncing in place happily. She loved a bit of innocent gossip like this. “Is Momma Ivy ever gonna visit? I don’t think Mom told her much about me yet, and I still gotta give her the shovel talk!” the fierce look that overcame Marinette’s face made Selina laugh again. Oh yes, definitely her mother’s daughter.
“Pam has been trying to sneak over, but the laws regarding Metahumans in Paris suddenly got much stricter a few months back and have caused some problems. You wouldn’t happen to know what happened, would you?” Selina did not miss when her seemingly innocent question caused her niece to close off almost instantly. Bluebell eyes took on a familiar guardedness, and scanned her with the same soul-searching intensity that Harley had when she was channeling her Psychiatrist side. Selina found herself in a slightly concerning spot though—
Because she couldn’t predict Marinette at all. She was left to simply stand there as Marinette searched for some unidentifiable thing in her eyes, completely unable to read the younger girl’s face and with no idea of what to expect. The side effect of having chaos so thoroughly entwined in both of her biological parents, she supposed.
“Nope, no idea.”
Selina knew that was a lie, but knew equally as well that she would not be getting a better answer anytime soon. So, she let it go and the two of them once again dipped into innocent chatter.
Later that night, when Selina left and the sun threatened to rise at any minute, Tikki flew up from her hiding spot under Marinette’s pillow to land on her holder’s shoulder. Marinette giggled and looked over at her little friend.
“Tikki?”
“Yes, Mari?”
“Why was I chosen to be your holder?” She asked suddenly, flopping back into her bed and staring at her ceiling. The little goddess hummed, smiling knowingly before flying down to cuddle in the crook of Marinette’s neck.
“Because you are born from luck itself. Even when bad things happen, you have the luck and determination to get out just fine, and stronger than before. And despite the destruction and anarchy in your blood, you have the willpower to reign it in and keep control of yourself. That’s all order really is, Marinette. The decision to take all the chaos and madness around us, and make it make sense. Make it do something good. And that’s a large part of who you are, I could feel it in your soul the moment we first met.”
Marinette closed her eyes, biting the inside of her cheek. “What if I lose control?”
“... You’ll just have to get it back. It’ll be hard, but as long as you have people to support you, you will be able to do it. You aren’t evil, Marinette,” the small God seemed to sense the true question her holder was asking, and did her best to soothe the doubt the girl felt. “Just remember the reasons you fight against chaos. Remember everyone you love, and you’ll be okay. And you have me, I’ll always help you.”
“... thank you, Tikki.”
—*—*—*—*—*
“He’s going to find out, Mom.”
“No he won’t, don’t be silly! I’ve been very careful about hiding you from him, Nettie-pie.”
“Mom… I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think we can hide who I am from him. If he sees me, I think he’ll know.”
The phone went silent.
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. If I was crazy about him, Sugar, then I’m head over heels for you. Not even he can stop me from caving his skull in if he tries his usual tricks with you.”
“... My plane leaves soon, I’ll talk to you when I land. And mom?”
“Yeah, honeycake?”
“I love you.”
—*—*—*—*—*
It was uncanny just how often Marinette’s hunches were right. Her intuition was something to behold, truly, because it only took three days in Gotham before Joker snatched her right out of her room at Harley and Ivy’s apartment. At least Marinette had sixteen by then, so she had had enough experience as a hero in Paris and with generally unpredictable situations and people who were absolutely nuts for her to not immediately panic. Too much, anyway.
Because there was definitely a little panic there.
See, Marinette knew herself inside out by then. After her own battle with her toxic feelings towards Adrien and doing her best to heal from those before she turned out like her mom, she knew she was by no means mentally indestructible. Mental illness ran the high risk of being inherited, and Marinette was well aware that her own personality was scarily similar to her mother’s at times. She got attached quickly, felt affection and love for others very strongly and, as she found with Adrien, could easily become obsessive if she didn’t watch herself. At least Harley was the perfect person to help with that, and Marinette was serious about helping herself too. She did everything she could to keep an eye on her mental health and keep her behavior in check so she didn’t do anything too unhealthy with her relationships again.
But she knew, she knew she had a soft spot for family. She got attached too easily. And being in the same room as her biological father, despite being tied up by her hands and feet and knowing just how many unforgivable things he had done in his life, Marinette felt vulnerable. She didn’t want to hurt him, despite everything. She still loved him, despite every reason not to, despite her first meeting with him being with him shoving chloroform over her face and hogtying her to a metal chain dangling over a vat of acid.
Geez, she’d need more than just her mom as a therapist after this for sure. Even if her mom had a PH.D, Marinette felt like she’d need several psychiatrists to sort through her emotional turmoil right then and make sense of any of it.
Marinette licked her lips, aware that the only kindness that Joker gave his daughter was sparing her from the discomfort of being gagged.
“Don’t,” Marinette said, surprising herself with the amount of steel she was able to put into her voice. Somehow, she managed to make the single word sound more like an order than a plead. “Joker, put me—“
“Ah-Ah-Ah!” The clown walked over, tutting and waving his finger in the air in almost playful admonishment. He gave her a dramatically fake pout. “Don’t you know it’s disrespectful to refer to your father by his first name?” Neither of them mentioned that Joker was definitely not his real name. They both knew the point was moot. “Say it with me now— ‘Daddy dearest, I am more than willing to be dunked in acid for you,’ go ahead, say it.”
Marinette’s jaw clenched. Familial love or not, she would not tolerate being ridiculed like that. She dealt with enough ridicule when she was fourteen and fifteen during school, before she put Liar Rossi in her place. She had spent the past three years as a hero in charge of the war against Hawkmoth, in charge of protecting all of Paris from an emotional terrorist.
And gee, wasn’t that what Joker was, too? Sure, he was a terrorist in the classic meaning of the word as well, but he was nothing if not a skilled manipulator. He knew the human mind just as well as Harley or any other psychiatrist did, he just used his knowledge for different means. He had emotionally abused Harley for years, he emotionally abused and manipulated people all across gotham on a daily basis. He was just another Hawkmoth, but with more physical violence in place of magic.
With these thoughts strengthening her resolve, Marinette narrowed her eyes at the man who donated half of her DNA. She let her anger boil into her irises, hitting him with one of the few traits she knew she inherited from him.
Her ability to intimidate others on the tip of a hat.
“No,” she growled back at him. She took a deep breath. It had taken her a while, but she refused to be ashamed of who she was regardless of her blood relation. She would have no problem using the very things she inherited from Joker against him. She might have gotten most of Harley’s personality, she might have inherited her mother’s habit of falling in love hard, fast, and obsessively, but she also had Joker’s defiance. His bone-deep inability to be stopped from doing exactly whatever the fuck he wanted.
And then, there were Marinette’s own traits. The ones that were completely her own, developed over her life organically. Like her refusal to bow down to bullies, her creativity, her ability to take even the most chaotic situation and see some sort of balance and sanity in it that she could use to her advantage.
That she WOULD use to her advantage. The shadows she saw move out of the corner of her eye gave her the chance to do exactly that, she just needed to buy a few more seconds. Just a few more seconds.
“Excuse me?” Joker growled right back, his own intimidation, honed over more years than Marinette had been alive and thus much more potent than her own, reading its ugly head as he stalked towards her. His face was pulled down into an ugly snarl, his shoulders tensed and back straight as he glared right at her. From his spot on the metal walkway, he was easily able to reach over the railing and grab her chin in one pale, viciously strong hand. “I think you’re misunderstanding something here, little Marionette. I’m your father. Half of your life came directly from ME. That makes you my puppet. You exist to follow my orders,” his right grip suddenly let go, leaving behind the beginnings of a bruise as his entire demeanor changed from angry to cheerful. He spread his arms as if gesturing to the whole chemical plant victoriously, and an unnaturally large smile curved over his lips and bared yellowing teeth at her. “But that’s okay. I’ll forgive you this time, you haven’t learned any better yet. That’s why we’re here. We need to cleanse you of all those icky bad habits you’ve learned up until now, all you need is a little,” he bounced in place with a wicked smirk to illustrate his next words— “jumpstart. A little acid goes a long way to enlightenment you know, you’ll see my side of things in no time. And with my blood in you, you’ll make a better sidekick than that idiot Harley ever did. I can sense it, you’ve got a real talent for Chaos in you, it’s exciting, Heheeeheheee! Now then, we should probably speed things along before our family reunion is cut short. Hang in there, my little Marionette,” the man actually had the gall to spin in place while humming a tune cheerfully before all but dancing over to the lever that held Marinette’s length of chain in the air over the vat of chemicals below her. “Everything will clear up in that little head of yours in just a second!”
There! Right as Joker pulled the switch to lower her into the bubbling vat underneath her, Marinette was able to finish untying her hands. She couldn’t contain a small yelp as gravity flung her body forward, leaving her upside down on the chain for a brief moment. That was when the chain started lowering rapidly, and Marinette was barely able to rip the rope off of her ankles in time to swing off of it and onto the metal walkway that came up right next to the giant metal container of liquid death and insanity. Joker had barely enough time to shout in rage before the windows near the ceiling shattered, admitting the city’s vigilantes themselves. Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin, and evening Black Bat all landed on the same metal platform above Marinette’s head that Joker was still on, buying the teen time to start running. But she didn’t go towards the exit right away, instead heading right up the stairs into the thick of the fight. Robin briefly separated from where Joker was managing to hold his own, goons flooding from side doors to inhibit the heroes in their attempt to bring their boss down.
The katana-using vigilante kept one eye on Marinette the whole time, suspicious of why the girl would come back up if not to help her father. But that wasn’t what she did, instead she flipped and kicked and punched her way through the quickly growing sea of Joker thugs until she reached a small pink purse that had been abandoned near the lever that had nearly sent her into liquid insanity. Three thugs surrounded her right as she snatched the purse up and slung it over her shoulder, but Robin barely had the chance to head over before she was heaving the men, who were all easily three times her size, over her shoulder and was slamming elbows into soft spots and the side of her hand into pressure points. By the time Robin got to her side, all three men were unconscious and bound to wake up in utter agony.
Marinette glanced up, getting ready to haul Robin over her shoulder as well before she realized who he was. She let her shoulders relax just a tick, sighing in relief before returning her eyes to scanning their surroundings. She shot him a brief grin.
“Good thing my adoptive mother, Mom, Momma Ivy, and Auntie Selina all made sure I knew how to take down a small army on my own, huh?” She asked rhetorically before they were both unceremoniously dragged back into the giant brawl.
—*—*—*—*—*
“Nettie-pie!”
“Marigold!”
Harley and Pamela Quinzel-Isley shoved down anyone and everyone who dared block their direct path to their daughter. The girl of the hour stood next to the bat clan, a shock blanket held tightly around her shoulders as she did her best to finish her statement to both the vigilantes and Commissioner Gordon.
“You untied yourself… from a ship-grade knot in high quality rope… with a phone charm?” They heard Gordon ask incredulously, to which Marinette could only give a lopsided smile. That was when her mom and stepmom crashed into her, enveloping her in a nearly suffocating hug.
“Gah— mom— momma Ivy—“ Marinette flailed in their arms for a bit before finally getting her head free and continuing her statement as if she didn’t have two of the most dangerous women in the city still giving her a bone crushing hug. “That’s better. Yes, Commissioner. You see, I realized when I was in the car with Joker, while I was pretending to still be unconscious, that one of the charms on my phone had pretty sharp corners that I could use like a serrated edge if I had enough time. So I carefully detached it from my phone, and held it in my palm. It took almost an hour, but once Joker noticed I was awake I kept him talking so that he didn’t notice what I was doing even as he tied me up to that chain. Really, it’s just lucky that I was able to get it worn down in time,” Marinette rubbed the back of her neck with a nervous chuckle. “But regardless, I think Batman and his partners,” she nodded to the listening vigilantes just to the side of her. “Were close enough that I would have been caught anyway, I just wanted to make sure they had less work to do. The sooner I freed myself, the sooner ‘Daddy Dearest,’” she grimaced as she mockingly used the same term Joker had tried to get her to say earlier that night. “Could go back behind bars where he belongs.”
“Oh my little Nettie-cake,” Harley cried, finally pulling back from the hug long enough to wipe her cheeks. It was clear that she had been crying for a while, and her colorful pigtails were mussed and tangled from where she must have been tugging on them in worry. “You were right. I’m so sorry, I never should have let you come to Gotham when I knew he was out of Arkham.”
Marinette was quick to shake her head frantically, pulling her arms out of Ivy’s hold so she could grasp Harley’s shoulders firmly. “No. No, Mom, I’m fine! And besides, we knew I couldn’t stay secret forever. I really like staying with you and Momma Ivy! Everything turned out fine though, and he’s headed back to Arkham. It’s okay.”
“It’s not okay, Nettle,” Pam argued, distracting herself by running her hands through Marinette’s bangs. She had only known the girl for two years, but that was more than long enough for her to consider the teenager as her own. “He took you right out from under our noses. You were supposed to be safe in our home, and he still got to you. That’s not okay. We weren’t able to protect you like we should have been. Maybe you should go back to Paris early.”
“What?! No way!” Marinette argued, eyes wide. “This is the first time I’ve been able to ever visit you guys in Gotham, I’m not letting some psycho sperm donor keep me from enjoying time with my family! I came here knowing full well that it was dangerous. I’m not gonna just run away after one bad experience.”
Harley snorted, and then devolved into uncontrollable giggles. “Heh— psycho sperm donor. Good one, sugar!”
Marinette smiled and rolled her eyes good naturedly at her mom’s usual immature antics. Seeing as Gordon had walked away muttering to himself a short while ago, Marinette pulled herself the rest of the way away from her moms and turned to the vigilantes. Without a second’s pause, she bowed to them just like her Maman Sabine taught her.
“Thank you for helping save me. I know it’s probably a shock that I’ve been kept secret from you guys all this time, but I hope you don’t lump me in with the likes of the green-haired half of my DNA. I’m staying with my Moms in their apartment, if you guys decide to patrol by our place like I suspect, I’ll leave some baked goods and coffee out for you on our patio. It’s the least I can do for you all after tonight. And don’t be too hard on Auntie Selina. Me and Mom swore her to secrecy, even from you guys.”
Batman jerked a little at the mention of Catwoman’s real name, jaw twitching for a second. Behind his cowl, his eyes narrowed. Marinette laughed, easily reading his body language and expression.
“She never told me who you are, but she didn’t exactly hide it either. It was easy to put the last pieces together on my own. But don’t worry, SHE swore me to secrecy too. I won’t tell anyone.
“How the hell are you related to the Laughing Asswipe from Hell?” Red Hood blurted out, his confusion clear even from behind his hideous helmet. Marinette burst into giggles, and both Pamela and Harley smiled knowingly.
“Mom gave me up for adoption when I was born, so I spent my whole life in Paris up until now,” she admitted. “Mom didn’t visit me for the first time until I was eight, and she and my adoptive parents are so awesome that it must’ve suffocated the worst traits from his DNA before they had a chance to develop,” she guessed out loud with a good natured smile.
Batman grunted. Marinette knew that one run-in wasn’t enough for them to trust her. After all, she was still the biological daughter of their arch enemy. But she didn’t mind, she understood the caution even if she didn’t fully agree with it. They weren’t outright hostile, despite the fact that Robin had never stopped glaring at her since they fought back-to-back against the mob of thugs earlier. She could live with their suspicion, as long as they continued to not be outright rude or mean to her.
At least she could empathize with Adrien now, whenever she figured out how to break it to him that Hawkmoth was definitely Gabriel and couldn’t be anyone else. Hopefully she could help soften the blow for him a little.
Harley and Ivy were starting to herd Marinette towards their car and take her back home, where they could continue to smother her in care and make sure she didn’t have even a scratch on her, when Robin’s voice stopped them all in their tracks.
“You are a surprisingly capable combatant.”
Marinette froze, blinking in surprise for a second before turning to stare at Robin in shock. The rest of the Bat Clam was doing the same, nobody expecting Robin of all people to be the first to directly complement Marinette. He tutted, crossing his arms, but never moved his gaze away from Marinette’s eyes.
“But your form could use some work. Most of your style is incredibly improvised, which I can appreciate since you do it well, but you would benefit from more structure in your fighting. I will set up a time and place for us to spar. We start in two days, if you think you can handle it.”
It took a while for what Robin said to sink in, and another few seconds for Marinette to decipher what his semi-aggressive, order-phrased proposal really meant. And she smiled.
“It’s a date.”

Woo! This started off a little rough, but I really like how it ended up! Thank you, Anon!

My One And Only - Chapter 13
Previous | Next | Master List
So this chapter is probably as long as the first, maybe just a word or two longer idk idk. This story here has nearly caught up where I am right now so the updates will be less frequen, I’m also starting school again so yeah. The one-shot that I’m writing is nearly at 10k words and it’s not even that good-
"God, you really are an Angel". The blush on her face was very noticeable. She smiled at him before using her yo-yo to bring her to the akumatized victim. He watched as her silhouette jumped from rooftop to rooftop. Once she was out of sight, Damian looked back at the sunset. He chuckled to himself. "I guess when you bumped into me the other day, you gave me some of your Lady Luck".
———————————————————
"Wait wait wait, take two steps back." Chloe put both her hands up in confusion. "So you went to Andre's and what were the flavors that she got?"
"She got dark honey, lime and rose" Kagami answered.
"But he never explained the meaning behind them, which he always does" Alya added. Alya, Chloe and Kagami were in the blonde's room talking about the ice cream 'date' they went on with Marinette the other day.
"That reminds me, Alya?" Kagami asked. "Do you still think the ice cream represents Chat Noir?"
Chloe just blinked in surprise. "No, I met the guy recently" Alya replied. "He's perfect for her. Actually I should text him to see how Mari's doing" Alya took her phone out as Kagami nodded slowly. Chloe still looked like she was trying to wrap her head around the whole situation.
"So Mare-Bare has a crush on this 'foreign exchange student' and Alya met him the other day?" Kagami nodded, slightly amused at the blonde's confusion. "Do you think he likes her back?" Her question was both directed at Kagami and Alya who was still on her phone.
"Yeah I'm sure he does- wait he sent something" Alya let out a squeal of fangirlism as Chloe and Kagami went over to see what Alya was gushing over. Once the two girls came over, The reporter showed them a photo that got sent to her. It was Marinette, sound asleep on what Kagami and Chloe thought was the boy's chest. She was smiling and looked at peace.
"They look adorable~" Chloe cooed, having the same bright smile as Alya.
"He better not hurt Mari-hime" Kagami muttered, a soft smile appearing on her face as she looked at the photo.
~~~
"Pound it!"
Ladybug and Chat Noir managed to defeat the villain, it was Sandboy again. He was at a sleepover and some of his friends told a scary story, and the rest was common knowledge. Ladybug was about to yo-yo out of there but Chat Noir stopped her before she could do so.
"Ladybug, wait"
'This can't be good, he barely ever sounds this serious' She wrapped the yo-yo back around her waist before answer. "Kitty, is something wrong?"
"Well-" he was cut-off by the sound of his miraculous beeping.
"We can talk about this next time, ok?". After he hesitantly nodded, Ladybug got her yo-yo. "Bug out!"
She landed in an alley near Le Grand Paris and de-transformed. Marinette then took the opportunity to process what happened. 'Lila said something bad, I got upset, I went to Damian's, He took me on a walk, We kissed, He asked me to be his girlfriend, I showed him I was Ladybug, I-' her train of thoughts stoppped. "Oh my god, I told him I was Ladybug" she breathed. Her kwami then flew in front of her face. "OhmygodohmygodiamsososososorryTikkiididn'tmean-"
"It's perfectly fine Marinette!" The bluenette was was cut off by Tikki's giggling. "There's something about that lover of yours, I can't quite place it but I know we can trust him"
Marinette blushed at Tikki's words but nodded. "Y-yeah, thanks Tikki".
The bluenette soon reached the hotel door that was all too familiar to her now, her face reddened slightly at the thought. She still let herself in though, making sure to lock the door behind her. When she had closed the door, she noticed her demon reading on the sofa, he put his book down as he noticed Marinette walk in. She walked over and stood behind the sofa, looking down on Damian as because she was standing, she was taller. He looked up and smirked at her.
"You know," her boyfriend began. "I had high suspicions of you being Ladybug, though, I couldn't be certain."
"How come your suspicions were so high?" Marinette asked, still smiling.
"Well when you're a vigilante yourself, I suppose it can be easier to pin point others' secret identities"
She smiled while rolling her eyes and kissed his forehead. She seemed tired and Damian made a mental note to tell her again later when she was more energized. Marinette then went to sit in the sofa and snuggle into Damian's muscular chest.
"Don't you have questions?" She murmured, she was too comfortable to move her head up.
"I do but they can wait" Damian stroked his fingers through his angel's hair. 'My Angel...' "You're tired"
"I'm not-" her yawn contradicted the words that were about to leave her lips and she grumbled in annoyance while Damian chuckled. "If I do sleep wake me up before 9, Maman and Papa are going to the airport and I want to say goodbye"
Damian remembered that Marinette's parents would be going to Marseille for around a week, they were going to open up a second location there as they had become well known in that part of the country. "Alright" he softly answered, he assumed that Marinette had fallen asleep already and his assumption was correct when he felt her slow and steady breathing. At that moment he got a message on his phone, a message from Alya. She was asking about Marinette's current predicament and Damian sent a picture of Marinette sleeping soundly, a smile on her face. He wasn't purposely trying to stay out of the frame but he wasn't in it either way.
Me: She's doing much better than earlier today, it would be best if Marinette would be the one to address what was wrong
Césaire: Oh ok, I'm glad she's feeling better
Césaire: u 2 look adorable af tho
If he blushed at that comment, no one would know. Damian put his phone down to look at his sleeping Angel. He smiled to himself and picked the bluenette up bridal style. He brought her to his bed and tucked her in to let her sleep, not before planting a kiss on her forehead, though. Damian focused his vision on the digital clock on the nightstand. '7:47 I'll let Marinette sleep until 9' His thoughts were interrupted by a small, squeaky voice.
"Damian"
His head quickly turned in the direction of the voice. 'I swear I didn't hear anyone else enter-' Damian had to blink twice. In front of him was a small, red, bug-like creature. 'What the fu-'
"Damian my name is Tikki, I am Marinette's kwami" she held her tiny arm out and Damian hastily lifted on of his finger's for the kwami to shake, he didn't know what else to do if he was being honest. "I understand that you have questions so you may ask some now, though, I understand if there are some you would like to ask her personally"
He nodded. "What....what is a kwami?" He asked hesitantly, not wanting to offend the kwami and still trying to get a hold of this new information.
"A kwami is, I guess, a miniature god that lives inside of a miraculous. The kwami is what gives the user's miraculous their powers as well as their hero costume. A miraculous is a piece of jewelry that grants the user powers. Marinette's miraculous is the Miraculous of the Laadybug, the earrings. They give her the power of Creation and Good luck" Damian nodded slowly, now back sitting on the couch. "Marinette in trusted you with her secret identity, I sense that I can trust you as well but I want to you to promise to keep her identity a secret, unless she says otherwise"
"Don't worry I will, I of all people should know the importance of keeping a secret identity a secret"
"You're a superhero?" Tikki questioned, not hearing what Damian told Marinette earlier
"Vigilante" he corrected.
"I guess that's why you have a trusting aura" Tikki pondered. "Thank you Damian, for making Marinette so happy"
"Anything to make her smile"
~~~
"Habibti, it's time to wake up" Damian gently shook Marinette's shoulder.
".......nnwhy" Marinette buried her face further into the pillow.
"You said you wanted to see your parents go to the airport, correct?"
"Oh right!" She jumped out of bed, any signs of tiredness was now gone. Damian chuckled slightly and moved towards her, he brought the ribbon he had taken earlier and put her hair back up in a ponytail. "Thanks!" She exclaimed after looking in the mirror. "I know I said I would explain everything but can I do that after we say goodbye to my parents?"
"Of course Angel"
She smiled brightly and the two walked out of the hotel to her parents' bakery, their arms linked together. As they arrived, they noticed two figures with bags and a taxi with it's boot open.
"Maman, Papa we came to say goodbye" Marinette walked over to her parents with Damian by her side, tilting her head slightly in confusion as they both smiled smugly at the couple.
"You came earlier than we thought you would Marinette and hello again...Damian is it?" Marinette's mother asked.
"Yes it is, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr Dupain, Mrs Cheng"
"No need for formalities son, Tom and Sabine" Tom said, giving Damian a bone-crushing hug.
"Papa!"
"Tom, dear, we don't want to suffocate the poor boy"
"Oh right!" Tom then put Damian down. "Is it safe to say that I assume you are Marinette's boyfriend?" The man asked, looking very joyfully at the blushing couple.
"Y-yeah" Damian murmured while Marinette nodded and both parents shot them big smiles.
"We were debating when that was going to happen" Sabine admitted with a shrug.
"Maman!"
"Oh would you look at the time, we better get going" Sabine smiled smugly, ignoring her daughter's protest. Both her and Tom engulfed Marinette in a hug and beckoned Damian to join in.
"Bye Maman, Bye Papa!"
"Goodbye Sabine, Goodbye Tom"
The couple watched the taxi leave for the airport, they stood in comfortable silence.
"So should I explain everything now? I can sleep over at your place if you want all the details" Marinette asked, blushing slightly at what she just said.
Damian realised that she was referring to sleeping over in his hotel room, honestly, he didn't mind. "If you want to"
"Great! Wait here I'll get my things"
~~~
"...and you're Multimouse too?" Damian continued after Marinette nodded. "Wow, that is...a considerable amount of information. And you called Tikki a 'bug-mouse'?" He chuckled amused at the flushed face his girlfriend now had.
"It was one time! The first time I saw her! Do you think I would have acted any differently?" She pouted and Damian took the opportunity to kiss her. He then got up to look at the time, smirking as he noticed the flushed bluenette in his peripheral vision. "Also, how did you work out that I was Ladybug?"
"For starters, I researched her- well, you and I couldn't help but notice how similar you two were, in build and personality. From there I just connected the dots"
"Huh, usually there's magic that prevents others from noticing things like that but it didn't work on you for some odd reason. That's- wait" she paused and blinked and then looked straight in Damian's eyes. Before he could voice out his confusion, she spoke again. "Did- did you just...make a pun?"
His forest green eyes widened "...no"
She laughed for a good while, especially when seeing the look on Damian's face. After she composed herself, she changed the subject. "Now it's your turn to explain, Shaytan"
"Hm alright, are you familiar with the vigilantes in Gotham?" He asked.
"The Bat-family? Are you one of Batman's comrades?" Marinette looked up at her boyfriend, wide-eyed with fascination like a child's. Damian couldn't help but melt at her expression.
"Yes and yes, my vigilante persona is known as-" he was about to tell her that he was Robin before she cut him off.
"Wait can I take a guess" Damian gestured her to do so. "Hmmmm considering your age, my options are narrowed down to one of the Batboys. Looking at your build I'd say that you are..Robin!" She said his name with great certainty.
He clapped while smiling. "You are correct, yet again"
"I'm surprised though, you don't seem like the type to be a traffic light" she teased.
"Tt, stop rubbing more salt in the wound" he groaned.
Marinette giggled. "So your brothers are the other Robins and your father is Batman, I presume?" Damian nodded. "Wow...who knew that two heroes from different places would fall in love?"
"I suppose I did" He looked at the clock again, it was 11:58. "It's getting late"
Marinette followed his vision to the clock. "Huh, I didn't even realise that the time flew by so quickly" she then got up to rearrange some of the pillows on the couch.
"What are you doing?" He asked, confused.
The bluenette looked at him, also confused. "I'm sleeping on the couch, right?"
"You can sleep on the bed, you are the guest after all. I can sleep on the couch"
"No, couldn't possibly! It's your room!"
The bickering went back and forth between the two while Tikki watched in amusement. 'If Plagg were here, he'd only add more fuel to the fire'. Most could argue that the relationship between the couple was moving too quickly but Tikki knew otherwise. The magic of the miraculous was at work. Only the true holders of the Ladybug miraculous and the miraculous of the Black Cat would be affected. That isn't always the case though, they would only be attracted to one another if the feelings they had were romantic and mutual. To most, it would appear that they were moving too quickly. But for the kwami, it was just a sign that the two true holders were found, and they were found together. 'I do have to tell Plagg, though'. Then the small kwami got an idea. "Why don't you both just sleep on the bed?"
The two then turned to Tikki, both faces were red but Marinette's shone through the most. The small kwami merely had an innocent smile on her face.
"...I-I guess that's manageable" Damian murmured.
"O-ok" Marinette mumbled, clearly too flushed for her own good.
~~~
"Alright Mari-bear, spill the beans"
Marinette had breakfast at Damian's before going home to change, she had to meet Jagged and Penny again to record and to discuss the name of the song because, for whatever reason, they hadn't done that yet. After, she promised that she would hang out with Alya, Chloe and Kagami in the blonde's room but she didn't expect to be interrogated. She briefly sugar-coated what Lie-la did and said, luckily her friends took the hint that she didn't want to talk about it. She also gained a new nickname, or a variant of one. Marinette noticed how Chloe interchangeably used 'Mare-Bare' and 'Mari-Bear' but they were more or less the same thing.
"Wha-" They all gave made a knowing face, the 'you know what I mean' face. She let out a defeated sigh. "S-so um...yesterday he asked me to be his girlfriend". The bluenette prepared herself for whatever was going to happen next, what followed was an ungodly amount of fangirl squeals. Even Kagami seemed to let one out.
"You said yes, right?" Kagami asked with a joyful tone. Marinette nodded. "So what's his full name?"
Marinette took a deep breath. "Queenie, do you keep track of who is staying in the hotel?"
"I guess" The blonde replied, glancing at her nails. "Why'd you ask?"
"Well, he's staying in room 301"
"Hm...that's one of the expensive rooms so that means-" Chloe let out a gasp of realisation. "No fucking way! How-" she then bursted out laughing, Marinette giggled as well.
"You lost me" Kagami looked between the two while Alya just shrugged her shoulders.
"Mari, Damian Wayne is your boyfriend? How you managed to thaw the Ice prince of Gotham's heart I will never know, only you Dupain-Cheng" Chloe, now recovering from laughing, was now looking at Marinette with admiration and interest.
"Wait, THE Damian Wayne?!" Alya gaped at Marinette.
"Y-yeah" The bluenette stammered and tried to hide her blush with her hands
"What's he like?"
"Is he as cold as they all say?"
"Does he treat you right?"
Marinette was bombarded with many questions regarding Damian. She struggled to keep up with each and every one of them. 'Is this what it feels like to be inundated by paparazzi?' She thought teasingly.
~~~
It was around noon. A spotted heroine jumped from roof top to roof top. She had just finished her patrol and was headed towards the Eiffel Tower, Chat Noir wanted to talk to her about something. He seemed serious too. Ladybug was slightly concerned for her friend, seeing Chat Noir act serious was a very rare sight. She voiced her concerns to Damian before she went out on patrol.
"You said he values your friendship, correct? In that case he probably wants to shelter you from whatever information he stumbled upon"
Marinette jokingly scoffed. "I'm not a damsel in need of protection thank you very much"
Damian smiled and hugged Marinette from behind while resting his chin on her head. "I know Angel, I know. That won't stop me from protecting you though"
Ladybug used her yo-yo as a grappling hook and landed gracefully on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower. Not surprisingly, Chat Noir was already there, waiting for her.
"Kitty?" The spotted heroine asked after a short moment of silence. "Is everything okay?"
The cat-themed hero sat on the floor, Ladybug sat in front of him and after a big breath, he spoke. "Ladybug, I- I don't think I'm the true holder of the Black Cat miraculous"
You looked around the large rented ballroom and shook your head nervously. You had brought up the idea of taking the kids out on field trips to facilitate their learning and the Heroics school board had decided to hold a fundraiser to help take this from an idea to reality. You hadn’t imagined that they might opt to raise said funds by auctioning off dates with the Heroics themselves. Since the event would be opened to the public, it couldn’t be held at HQ (a logistical nightmare) so a local Events Center had been the next best option. Now, as you watched the room beginning to fill with people you could see why. This was, apparently, the event of the century.
Soft classical music was being piped in from speakers in the corners of the room as people mingled, getting drinks from the bar. Your students were all wearing black outfits and acting as greeters and coat-checkers so the gathering masses would see just who their money would be helping. You quickly realized, for some here, it wouldn’t matter where the money was going. A night on the town with one of the Heroics was a hot commodity.
Glancing over at Marcus, surrounded by half a dozen women, you understood the appeal. The urge to go over and rescue him from his adoring fans was strong, but you couldn’t do that. For one thing, as the teacher of his daughter and the other Heroics’ kids it was inappropriate. For another thing, you’d spotted your brother in the crowd and you just knew he’d have an opinion on your feelings for Marcus Moreno and you just didn’t want to hear it.
Wearing a suit and tie was really nothing new but wearing it that evening made Marcus super uncomfortable. Not that the women who were flocked to him would have complained. A few of them tried chatting him up casually but there were a few making comments about what their ideal date night would consist of. One of them even tried slipping him actual cash to try to rig the auction.
Marcus shook his head with a forced polite smile as he got more uncomfortable until his gaze looked out and found you. “Ladies, I have to go do my part in helping set up,” he explained with a slight lie as he gently pushed through them and walked over to you. His smile changed from forced to nervous as he approached you and leaned in to speak to you.
“What else is left to set up? Please tell me there’s something so I can keep myself busy,” he added with a soft chuckle as his eyes did a very quick, brief scan over your scan to take in your outfit. “You look beautiful by the way,” he commented quietly as he attempted a smile at you.
At his compliment you couldn’t help the heat that rushed to your face. You didn’t feel beautiful most of the time. Cute, sure. But beautiful? No.  But, if Marcus Moreno was saying it maybe you needed to believe it. You shook off the exhilaration of the moment to focus on what he was asking. “Ummm, do you want to add the raspberry sorbet to the punch?”
The two of you walked to the end of the table where several pints of fruit-flavored frozen goodness had been softening and you handed him an ice cream scoop with a smile, “Thank you.” You giggled before adding quietly, “You look really good yourself. I’m sure you’ll bring in a lot of money.” You were surprised when Marcus blushed. A little thrill shocked your spine realizing you were the cause.
Missy cleared her throat getting the attention of you and her father, “We’re done getting all the coats hung up. We were wondering if we could get some snacks?” Marcus looked at you for the answer since you were the one in charge for this event. Nodding, you said, “You guys have done more than enough. You’ve earned a break.”
As she walked away, Marcus leaned closer, asking, “Are you going to bid on me?” His smile nearly melted you.
With a nervous laugh, you replied, “I don’t think that would be a good idea.” Marcus’ brows knit together in a frown as he scooped some of the sorbet into the punch bowl, watching it fizz as the softened dessert melted more into the liquid.
“Why’s that?” he asked, trying to conceal the slight disappointment in his voice. He was excited to participate in something that would help raise money for Missy and her friends and the school but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t see this as an opportunity to finally have you on a date night with him.
Just then, a clearing of a throat and a slap to Marcus’ shoulder caused both of your attention to break from one another. “Well, well, well,” Miracle Guy’s voice broke your concentration on Marcus and caused you to turn to look at him. You forced a smile as the blond male continued talking, “Looks like we’ll be in some pretty heavy competition tonight huh Marcus?”
The question seemed playful in nature but Marcus, and you, knew better. Any chance that Steven could show up Marcus, he would absolutely try to. You shook your head slightly and went to the other end of the table, suddenly feeling tension in your shoulders.
You absent-mindedly straightened a stack of napkins that were already pristine and watched as the two men finished their conversation. Was it too much to hope Steven wouldn’t press the subject with you? You watched as Marcus handled the other Heroic smoothly, then Miracle Guy, also known as your older brother Steven, approached you. Again, you molded a wobbly smile onto your face.
“How’ve you been?” The question was ignored as Steve glanced around before casting his imperious gaze on you.
“So, are you and Marcus Moreno going out now?” He said the other man’s name through clenched teeth.
With a shrug you replied, “No. What gave you that idea? Why would you think that?” Inwardly you cringed. You were never very good at hiding your feelings.
Steven picked up a small plate and helped himself to a couple slices of cheese, “I overheard the kids talking. Wheels seemed to think you were interested.” He popped some gouda into his mouth and then, “I just don’t want you to get hurt… and getting your hopes up that a Heroic like Marcus would… well, I’m just worried he’ll get bored, that’s all. I’m looking out for you.”
You scoffed. The way your fists clenched around the napkin you were currently holding, crumpling it should have been a sign that you wanted to punch your brother for being so rude. The guy hadn’t even had a serious relationship and yet he still managed to have a son by a woman he so-called loved. What did he know about love or relationships or even what it was like to be with you in a relationship? He had no right.
His name was called across the room and he gave you a pitiful smile. Your nostrils flared, trying to calm yourself before Miranda came up to remind you that it was just about time to start. You nodded, thankful that she had broken your frustration towards your brother. You walked with her towards one of the front tables as she kept walking to get onto the stage and welcome everyone to the event.
Marcus had watched as you and Miracle Guy talked, narrowing his eyes when you clearly got agitated. But, then Miranda had interrupted and the blonde hero had walked toward the stage. He yearned to go to you and take your hand, to make sure you were okay, but the event was starting and he had to join the other Heroics at the table reserved for them.
Miranda introduced the emcee for the evening, a local newscaster, and joined you at your table while the rules of the date auction were explained. Reaching across the table, she grabbed an open bottle of red wine pouring two glasses, “You look like you could use a drink.” She knew your family history, since she’d been on the interview committee when you’d gotten hired and you appreciated her support now.
Taking the glass, you smiled, “I shouldn’t let him get to me. I’ll be fine.” You glanced over at the Heroics table and saw Marcus looking at you. He smiled and you couldn’t help but smile in return, your heart fluttering in your chest. Your attention was again diverted when you heard the emcee announcing that Miracle Guy had pulled in $870 for the school and then Marcus’ name was being announced. Your stomach turned while the women around you all cheered wildly. You felt jealous of whoever won this date and watched Marcus walk up to the stage.
Marcus fiddled with his tie as he made his way onto the stage. His face felt hot even before he stepped under the hot stage lights. The cheering and hollering didn’t quiet down until the emcee shushed the crowd at least four more times. Marcus was smiling but he felt his palms get a bit sweaty. For a man who was constantly in the news saving the world, being in front of a crowd to be auctioned off for a date seemed to make him nervous.
His eyes squinted as he adjusted to the light and when he scanned the room, his eyes landed on you for a long moment. His breath caught in his throat, secretly hoping that you would bet on a date with him. Everything in his mind was trying to telepathically tell you to bid.
The emcee barely got his words out to start the bidding before the first few hands rose up, shouting $100, then $150 and $200 in rapid succession. There was a murmur of giggles and whistles as the emcee shouted out the bid numbers and kept trying to explain what a date night with Marcus would entail.
Your eyes couldn’t leave Marcus even after he had caught your gaze a few times. Your heart was hammering as you thought about the real possibility of someone else going on a date with him. The bids had gotten up to $700 and it was down to two people. Both of the women in question had been acting especially thirsty when talking to Marcus earlier.
Throwing caution to the wind, you raised your hand, “$750!” Every eye in the room seemed to turn in your direction with varying reactions. Miranda’s eyebrows shot up, but she grinned at you. The two other bidders glared in your direction. Your students all shared happy grins (especially Missy and Wheels). Steven looked disappointed and aggrieved. But, the only person who mattered to you in that moment was Marcus and he looked relieved and happy, a wide grin forming on his face.
There was some more bidding back and forth while you did math in your head trying to figure out how much you could actually afford. You really didn’t want to lose this. Finally, you bid $1390 and everyone in the room waited to see if either of the other two women would raise the stakes yet again. Finally, the emcee announced, “At $1390, the highest bid of the night so far, a date with Marcus Moreno to the lady at Table 4!”
Breathlessly you leaned back in your seat then gasped, “Oh my God… what did I do?” Marcus was just as breathless as he heard the applause and watched your face as he finally stepped down from the stage.
As he approached your table all eyes were on him and subsequently, you. He stood in front of you, towering over your sitting frame and you audibly gulped at the impressive broadness of him. "So a date it is," he said quietly as he sat down in the chair next to you.
His heart was hammering as he placed his hand over yours and patted it gently before looking back to the stage to see Mrs. Vox coming onto the stage to be bid on.
Off to the side, Steven was furrowing his brow at you and Marcus, trying to see if he could study what your lips were saying to each other. His nostrils flared slightly as seeing how relaxed and comfortable Marcus was around you. Almost as if you had been together already.
You could feel your brother’s eyes on you, and you were sure he suspected you’d lied to him about your relationship with Marcus earlier, but you ignored his glares. You had bigger things to worry about right now. Like the fact that you’d just paid an overwhelming amount of money to go on a date with the parent of one of your students. You’d never crossed the line like that before and the fact that you’d done it this time had you reeling.
Not to mention the fact that he was a Heroic!  Growing up powerless in a family full of superpowered people had always made you feel like an outsider in your own home. And they hadn’t done anything to dissuade you of that notion. If anything they’d made it worse, amplifying the sense of inadequacy you’d experienced.
Glancing over at Missy, who was trying to hide an enormous grin, you remembered the talk you’d had with Marcus at the Parent/Teacher Conference. She was, essentially in the same place you’d been back then. But, Marcus made her feel loved and accepted for who she was. As you moved your gaze away from your students your eyes met Steven’s and you gave him a determined tilt of your chin before turning back to Marcus.
Leaning forward you whispered, “I can’t wait.” Then kissed him on the cheek.
Tumblr media
The sun was already high on the endless blue sky, showering the small apartment room in golden light when a big, orange and round thing pushed the door open with its head. The cat made his way through the mess and straight to the bed, where his owner was still sleeping. Confuting his own respectable weight, he jumped easily into the bed and snuggled up to the sleeping boy’s side, purring loudly. The quiet snoring suddenly stopped as the boy slowly opened his deep brown eyes, his hand automatically searching for the cat’s fluffy head.
“Let me sleep, Pharaoh! Just five more minutes!” Judai pleaded and covered his eyes with his free hand.
But it had been proven to be an unacceptable answer to Pharaoh. If he was hungry, nothing was an excuse for being late for breakfast. And in fact, it was almost lunchtime.
“Meow!”
However, Judai still didn’t seem willing to move, so he had to try harder.
“Ouch! Pharaoh, I know you are hungry, but I’m not your food! Don’t eat me!” Judai moaned as he sat up reluctantly. He squinted in the vivid lights, reaching the phone on the nightstand. The screen was showing 11 AM and the date below: 31th August.
31st August. The last day of summer. And his birthday.
Judai almost forgot about his nineteenth birthday. But to be honest, this day is going to be just like any other of the past week. He had nothing to do besides sitting at home and feeding Pharaoh occasionally. There was no real difference from what he did ever since he arrived from his last journey.
In fact, he was stuck in Domino City and had to stay there until he would eventually get a phone call from Chancellor Samejima. In the past one year of his life, an incoming call from his ex-headmaster meant one thing: a new job is on the sight. Not that Judai minded that. He loved travelling around the world and solving intriguing cases with his dueling skills. He didn’t continue his studies in a college, nor joined the Pro Leagues like his other friends. No, he just did the same as in his Academia years: slacking and occasionally saving the day. That is the duty of the heroes after all.
…And at least he could be useful in something as well.
Judai spent the last two weeks in this apartment, which he and Johan were renting together. In the first days, it wasn’t so hard to stay put, but Johan went on a holiday to his family in Sweden more than a week ago. He promised that he will get home before the end of summer, yet he messaged his roommate that he had to stay for a few more days. So in the end, Judai was left alone for his birthday.
Okay, not completely alone. At least Pharaoh was there for him, he thought as he strolled out to the kitchen to find some breakfast for his hungry cat. And for himself.
One year had already passed since they graduated from Duel Academia. A lot of things happened to everyone and it appeared that nobody had the time to greet Judai on his birthday. At least none of his friends told him that they would like to see him today. No missed calls, no unread messages yet.
Have they already forgotten him?
No, that was nonsense. They might be just… busy.
Sho and Manjoume have joined the Pro Leagues right after their graduation, so they were already living their restless life just like his other pro friends, Edo and Kaiser. Well, in his Academia years Judai already got used to that Edo is as much unavailable as the Emperor of Japan himself, but it appeared that Kaiser is that kind of celebrity too. Since he more or less recovered from his heart condition, he started a Cyber Pro League along with Sho and they both attended various events actively in the country and lately overseas too. Of course, Kaiser was told that he must not overstrain himself and stress too much in general, but Judai would bet that he disregarded all of those rules anyway. Especially because he hadn’t talked to him in months, so he must be busy as hell as always.
On the other hand, as far as Judai knew the Tenjoin siblings still lived in North America – Asuka was still studying in Duel College for sure while her brother, Fubuki-san was… doing something too, he assumed? Judai hadn’t heard much of them lately, but he knew that Fubuki-san followed his younger sister to chase his dreams and become an idol abroad. Judai didn’t know much about the school system of America, so Asuka might have classes at this very moment, maybe that’s why she hasn’t called him yet.
For his younger friends, Kenzan graduated from Duel Academia this summer, while Rei is going to start her last year in October. Maybe they are both on a vacation right now, enjoying themselves on a beach or something. It was still summer anyway, Judai couldn’t blame them for that.
And oh, there was Aurora, too. She was the roommate of Edo (and maybe his stepsister as well? Or something more? Who knows. She was a mystery anyway), who befriended him less than a year ago. Judai supposed she doesn’t even know that this day is his birthday.
After he gave some salmon flavored cat food and fresh water to Pharaoh, he decided to grab a bowl of cereal for breakfast and lunch at once.
As much he wanted to act like his birthday was nothing, if it was just like any other day, it made him hurt deep inside that nobody, even his closest friends haven’t paid attention to him on his day. He already got used to that his parents don’t care about him, but he thought he found a new family in his friends.
Maybe he was wrong.
But hey, it was him who abandoned them in the first place, Judai reminded himself. He was the one who left the Academia without saying goodbye and ran away from them straight to another country. He shouldn’t feel sad, because he knew that their friends would be estranged from him sooner or later. And he was the only one to blame.
Judai was so lost deep in his thoughts that he didn’t even realize that the milk was long overflowed the bowl and it was already spilling down the table. Pharaoh didn’t waste a single second: he leapt to the white liquid dripping from the edge of the table and licked it with such joy as if he had never tasted it before in his entire life.
“Dammit!” Judai moaned, then hastily wiped the milk off from the table and the parquet.
Oh well. He hadn’t been awake for ten whole minutes yet, but he already knew, birthday or no birthday, this was not going to be his day.
As the day continued, Judai climbed back to the bed and chose to do nothing today besides watching silly TV shows. He could have gone out at least for a walk, that’s true. He lived in Domino City after all, the city he loved the most. If you are a duelist, this is the best place for you in the entire world, especially if you live in downtown. The coast was not too far, Kaiba Land and other fun places were within easy reach too. But nothing was entertaining enough if you had no friends around.
“I feel like you’ve forgotten something,” Judai heard a familiar voice from all of a sudden. Slowly, the television screen became blurry as he was still staring at it, and a demonic shadow appeared at the end of his bed.
“Yubel,” he spoke their name aloud as he closed his eyes. “What did I forget?”
“Me,” came the obvious answer. “Why do you feel so lonely?”
“I’m not lonely. I’m just…” Judai began but then realized that the sentence had no continuation. “No, Yubel, everything’s good.”
“You sure?”
“Uh, yeah! I’m glad you’re here. It is enough for me.”
“You are a bad liar, Judai. You know that?”
“Hey, I mean it! I’m glad you are here, Yubel.”
“… I know.” Yubel smiled, gentler than it was imaginable from them. As they took a short break, their heterochromatic eyes curiously scanned the boy who was bound to them for an eternity. “But I still don’t understand, what is the matter with you?”
Judai didn’t answer their question. At least with words. He thought it was enough for an answer that he checked his phone every five minutes if someone messaged him already. But sadly, nobody had searched him so far.
It was already late afternoon when he finally heard the standard ringtone of his phone. He almost fell asleep again, and the vibrating sound made his heart pound in excitement. He immediately grabbed his phone, but when he checked the screen, he had mixed feelings.
The caller was Aurora, Edo’s roommate. And the last one who Judai thought would call him on his birthday.
“Hello, Rory! What up?” he greeted her, a soft smile unintentionally crossed his lips. But it had soon vanished when Aurora didn’t answer immediately. “Rory? Is something wrong?”
“Judai,” she spoke finally. Her usual melodic voice was trembling somewhat as if she was nervous. “I’m glad I could reach you!”
“Yeah, I mean, you could have totally called me all day! I had nothing to do, you know.” Maybe he shouldn’t have hinted things like these, but still.
“I see. Sorry, Judai, but may I ask you something?” Aurora’s voice still didn’t sound too firm.
“Sure, anytime!” Judai’s eyes sparkled at thought of the adventure. “But you’re fine, aren’t you?”
“Y-Yeah. I just… need to talk with someone. With you.”
“Really? Well, I’d gladly chat with you, but if you wanna talk about some… girlish thing, you know I’m not your man.”
“You will be completely fine. I wanna talk about something else, not girlish things.”
“Something happened with Edo maybe?” Judai guessed.
“Not at all! Ahw Judai, stop asking questions! I will tell you everything if I see you in person. So get ready and come!”
“Come where?”
“I’ll be waiting for you at the entrance of Kaiba Land in fifteen minutes.”
“Why there? You’re not even a duelist—„
“See you later, Judai!”
Before Judai could remark that he may not be there in fifteen minutes, Aurora had already hung up the phone. Surely, she became weirder and weirder. Maybe it was Edo who was a bad influence on her.
When Judai arrived at the said place, he was nearly jumping out of his skin. He was curious about what Aurora wanted to talk to him about, and at the same time, he was glad that he finally had a reason to leave the apartment.
Though it was still a bit unexpected that he would spend his birthday with Aurora, but why not? They were friends after all. He should have thought about her sooner.
“Judai!” Aurora shouted and waved him from the distance.
As he came closer, Aurora silently turned around and headed into the Park. It was almost sunset, the monstrous structures of Kaiba Land were glowing in orange.
“Okay, would you tell me now what are we doing here?” Judai asked while he barely could keep up with her.
“You will see, I promise!”
“Come on, Rory!”
“No worries, we are almost there!”
And that was all she told him, no matter how hard he tried to get more information. But the sparkle of hope ignited in his heart, that something bigger was standing behind this weird invitation.
Kaiba Land was slowly emptied out as the closing hour was coming, so they didn’t meet too many people. Especially as they got deeper and deeper into the amusement park.
They were nearby the rollercoaster when they finally stopped.
“Judai,” Aurora turned to him. “I know that this whole thing came from all of a sudden, and I’m so happy that you followed me without a question anyway.”
“Well, actually—”
“I hope you know that it means a lot to me. Not just me. To all of us.”
“What do you mean?”
“Judai, you have amazing friends. And you are the best among the best for all of them.”
“Rory, I’m not sure I understa—„
“SURPRISE!!”
Shouts were coming from everywhere, and suddenly a shadow of a whole crowd appeared in the dim lights of the setting sun. Before Judai could have the time to react, a short figure stood out from them and started running towards him.
“Happy birthday, Aniki!” Sho shrieked as he bumped into Judai and embraced him closely. Shortly after, he found himself surrounded by people. Surrounded by his friends.
“Happy birthday, Judai!”
“Judai-sama! I wish the bestest birthday in the world to you!”
“Nice to see you, loser! Where the hell have you been for this long?”
“Yeah, Judai, we were all waiting for you!”
“Happy birthday, Aniki-don!”
“Damn, I missed you so much!”
Everyone was there. Asuka and Rei. Manjoume, Fubuki-san and Kenzan. Sho was still holding onto him, almost crying.
“Hehe, surprise! I came back from Sweden today just because of your big day!”
Even Johan was there. He came home finally! Judai couldn’t help, but sudden warmth flowed through his body as Johan hugged him along with everyone else. Even Manjoume was in the crew.
“Hey guys, you flatter me…”
“See, Edo? We almost missed the group hug because of you.” Another familiar voice came from the distance, and when Judai glanced up, he saw Kaiser Ryo and Edo Phoenix’s silhouettes were approaching them.
“Don’t blame me because Kaiba Seto himself wanted to talk with me. But I assume you can still join the group hug if you’re really that desperate.”
When the pros reached the crew, they greeted Judai in unison.
“Happy birthday, Judai!”
“You two…”
“In fact, these two were the masterminds for this plan,” Aurora joined the celebration too. “Happiest birthday for you!”
With suppressed tears in his eyes, Judai looked around his friends. Yeah, Aurora had right. He had the best friends in the world and now he felt terrible guilt that he had ever questioned them. Yubel were right after all, for not understanding what was his problem. Now he didn’t understand too.
“Okay, who wants some cake?”
“WAIT, we have cake?” Judai asked in shock. How the hell did they bring it to here?
“Of course! I mean you have it, Judai,” Asuka corrected him.
Before Judai could shout in happiness, his phone started ringing again. To his surprise, Chancellor Samejima called him.
“Happy birthday, Judai! Are you ready for your next adventure?”
Judai couldn’t help but smile again.
“Ready as I’ll ever be!”
Kagami’s Lucky Black Cat Chapter 2
ff.net ao3
Hey everyone! I am sorry it took me so long to get chapter 2 out...Granted I guess with that recent episode that came out my timing is perfect.
So do all of you want to see Chat Noir happy with Kagami? I know you do!
So without further ado...
~~~~~
It was noon when Chat Noir jumped around Paris to make sure everything was safe. He checked every corner of the city and everything seemed as peaceful and mundane as usual, which made today a wonderful day of exploring.
At the same time, Kagami was waiting in a long line to be seated at a restaurant. She tried her hardest not to bump into anyone, but everyone was eager and excited.
Just then, Chat Noir flew above him, and the people in the crowded line gasped. Everyone called out Chat Noir's name and said hello. And Kagami turned to see her cat hero friend and gave him a soft smile while waving.
Chat felt time slow down as his eyes locked on to the beautiful girl who waved to him. He almost flew into a street lamp, but he managed to grab hold and slid down the street light like a fire pole.
The crowd started cheering, and Chat Noir walked over to greet everyone.
"Hey fans! I hope everyone is doing well today," Chat said.
The people in the crowd gave their enthusiastic replies, and Kagami gave Chat a pleased grin.
"Hello Miss Kagami," Chat said before taking her hand and planting a kiss on it. His peridot green eyes looked so lovely to her. "It's great to see you again."
"Likewise," Kagami said as she took her hand and kissed the area that Chat kissed.
Just then, the owner of the restaurant showed up to greet Chat.
"Chat Noir," the restaurant owner started. "I am so grateful for all you do for our city. If you want, I can give you a reserved seat."
Chat Noir was pleased by the offer, but then he turned to Kagami.
"Could Miss Kagami join me as well?" Chat asked.
The restaurant owner gave his approval, and Chat held out his hand for Kagami.
Kagami smiled and took his gloved hand, and the crowd members were in awe. A few girls were a mix of starstruck and jealous.
"I want to date Chat Noir too!!!"
"You are so lucky!"
Chat Noir and Kagami took a moment to giggle to themselves.
~~~~~
They were seated at a lovely balcony seat where the two of them relaxed while waiting for food.
Adrien never had a date with someone while being a superhero, but there was a first time for everything. And Kagami was so charming.
Chat sat back in his seat to soak in the sun just like an actual cat, but he sat back up when Kagami's hazelnut eyes looked at him.
"See? You really are a lucky black cat," Kagami said before sipping some iced tea.
Chat tried to shake off his blushing face. "You give me too much credit. I nearly slammed into a billboard while on patrol. He laughed a bit under his breath. "It was kind of funny."
Kagami smiled and rested her face on her hand while stirring her drink with her other hand.
"I would've waited an hour for a table. And it's been lovely so far."
It mentally clicked for Adrien that everything was going well. Thank goodness! He was feeling so good being around Kagami he almost forgot not to ruin the date.
"I am glad I am good company," Chat said as he brought his ice tea to his lips. "Keep it up Chat! You wouldn't want to disappoint her!" He thought.
Kagami gave a pleased hum, and Chat realized he drank all his ice tea in one sitting. Kagami pushed her iced tea to him, and Chat Noir gave a silent thank you for offering the rest of her ice tea.
They were peaceful at their table until a few fangirls from earlier were a bit loud and excited to be seated at a table finally. They were certainly delighted to be sitting at a table near Chat Noir.
"Hey Chat Noir!" One of the girls cried while waving.
Another girl ran from that table ran to Chat and held a notebook in front of him.
"Chat, may I please have an autograph?"
Before Chat could say yes or no, a fangirl on the other side of him grabbed his arm and stroked his chin with her other hand.
"Chat Noir, please spend time with me."
"Wait!" Chat cried as he tried to free himself.
Kagami had a bit of a hurt expression on her face. Chat was at a loss for words as he looked at her with an apologetic expression on his face. The fangirls still had him in their clutches, and it was undoubtedly killing the date.
Suddenly a man started playing the accordion and Chat jumped high in the air. Everyone dining gasped in shock. Chat Noir did a flip before landing right beside Kagami. Kagami was a bit stunned, and her chair rattled a bit on impact.
Chat Noir sighed and fixed his hair before holding on his hand for Kagami.
"Would you like to dance?"
Kagami smiled softly. "I would love to."
They walked hand and hand to an area free of tables, and Kagami hooked her hands to Chat's, even if there were claws on his gloves. Her deep brown eyes were enough to soften any feral expression he had.
Kagami gently took the lead as they swayed back and forth, and their feet met every beat to the sounds of the accordion. They started to giggle as they felt each other matching their rhythm, and the accordion music became more energetic. Chat Noir lifted Kagami in the air a few times as they spun around. Kagami felt her heart rush and her smile grow as the handsome cat boy gracefully lifted her as if she were flying. When they finished spinning, they found themselves back at their table, where the waiter placed small skillets with steaks on them. Chat and Kagami were pleased to eat finally.
As they ate their delicious steaks cooked in garlic butter, Chat Noir told his most hilarious stories of him and Ladybug saving the day, and Kagami was so amused.
"And then the Akuma that reigned misfortune on every person she saw faced her own misfortune when me and Ladybug showed up!" Chat Noir said triumphantly. "Only this time, I had a sword with me to fight against the misfortune magic, and it was awesome!"
Chat Noir quickly waved his fork around like it was a sword. "En garde Misfortune!"
Kagami giggled and waved her fork around as well.
"This time, Chat Noir will become the MVP!" Chat cried. "I will prove myself to be as big of a hero as Ladybug."
The two of them continued sword fighting with their forks until they heard a crash in the distance. Up ahead, it did look like smoke from a destroyed building. Chat instinctively guarded Kagami.
"I gotta go!" Chat said sternly. He was about to throw some money on the table, but Kagami took his hand.
"I will take care of it. Just go save the day," she said.
The two of them looked into each other's eyes for a moment before Chat smiled at her. He got up from his seat and twirled his tail in his hand.
"This Akuma will certainly pay for interrupting my date with you," Chat said. He looked at Kagami one last time. "Stay safe Princess."
"I will," Kagami said as Chat jumped off the balcony and onto the rooftops.
Kagami and many others ran to the edge of the balcony to watch Chat Noir go, but the dining staff encouraged everyone to get inside where it was safer. Kagami turned back once more, hoping Chat Noir would be ok.
~~~~~
When everything was safe again, Kagami walked the streets of Paris alone, hoping to find Chat Noir again. But to no avail, he must've been busy with other things. Without realizing she saw Andre's ice cream cart at a distance where many people were eagerly getting ice cream.
When Chat Noir left, she didn't feel like finishing the steak since the Akuma interrupted their lunch date. So she waited in the messy line of people to get some ice cream of her own. It was a bit of a wait, but Andre smiled at her when it was finally her turn.
"Good afternoon Miss! I see there are some mixed feelings inside of you. Affection. Infatuation. Joy."
Kagami smiled to herself. "Yes, today has been a fun day."
Andre opened the lid on the ice cream cart. "I have two flavors you might be interested in."
Andre pulled out two cones with two flavors, and Kagami stared in bewilderment.
"One cone has dragon fruit and charcoal, a sweet treat that is very unique! Represents a girl with the heart of a dragon and a boy dark and mysterious."
Kagami never tasted charcoal-flavored ice cream before.
"The other is dragon fruit and lemon sorbet. The dragon girl is complimenting a boy who is like lemons on a sunny day."
Kagami felt herself salivating. She wasn't sure which ice cream to choose. On the one hand, she loved lemon sorbet that reminded her of the beautiful sun in summer, but she also wanted to be bold and try charcoal.
She didn't want to keep Andre waiting though, so she took the charcoal cone from him.
"Whichever flavor combination you choose, you are sure to enjoy. Both represent the feelings in your heart for a boy." Andre said with a sly smile.
"A boy?" Kagami thought. There were two amazing boys in her life, and this was a dilemma.
Kagami didn't know what to say, so she just paid Andre and sat on a bench so she could taste the mysterious ebony black ice cream.
Kagami took a small spoonful and ate it, and that small spoonful exploded in her mouth with the flavor of charcoal. She couldn't help but take a few more bites. Kagami licked her lips and wondered if the ice cream made her tongue dark.
Kagami turned on her phone's camera and looked to see her lips, and her tongue had a bit of ebony black, but it was, and she smiled at herself as she took a photo.
Everyone could see the beautiful ice cream cone she was eating and the new flavor on her lips.
~~~~~
Chat Noir stretched and sighed after another day of saving Paris from Akumas. He complained to himself that he didn't even get to finish lunch or eat dessert with Kagami. And maybe take her on an extended date. But he had to admit right now that dating her as Chat Noir when he was Adrien Agreste would lead to life getting weird.
But before he could think more on the subject, he heard a familiar ice cream cart tune. It was enough to make his kitty sense perk up. Andre was busy humming happy tunes until he finally noticed Chat Noir.
"Oh Chat Noir, hello!" Andre cried as he eagerly rolled his ice cream cart closer.
Chat Noir waved. "Hello, sir!"
Andre smiled. "You look like you could use some ice cream."
Chat Noir took a moment to scratch his head. "Yeah, I could use some ice cream. And I could use another date." He muttered.
Andre opened the lid to his cart, and Chat Noir was in awe of the triple-decker ice cream Andre pulled out. The colors of the flavors looked lovely.
"I think this dragonfruit, blackberry, and hazelnut cone will suit a hero like you just fine," Andre said.
Chat Noir took the ice cream and eagerly licked his lips. "Thank you, sir!"
"Thank nothing of it!" Andre cried. "It represents beautiful hazel eyes, lovely dark hair, and the heart of a dragon."
Chat gratefully paid for the ice cream, and he and the ice cream vendor fist-bumped before Chat could finally taste the new flavor combination.
He was beginning to enjoy the taste of dragonfruit, a fruit he could only remember eating once or twice. Blackberry was also a welcome taste since he was getting tired of blueberry desserts. And he adored hazelnut chocolate, but it was the smallest scoop, and he just wanted to go to the store for more hazelnut chocolate ice cream after he finished his cone.
But when he finished eating, he thought about Kagami. Gentle but strong, sweet, and fun, the ice cream reminded him of her.
He thought the heart of a dragon as he remembered how strong and graceful she was with fencing and archery: precious hazel eyes and beautiful dark hair.
He wondered if Kagami liked hazelnut ice cream as he left to find the nearest store.
(series masterlist)
Bright and early in the morning, there you were, chatting away with Kirishima as Kaminari and Ashido surrounded your seats. Kirishima was currently recounting the dream he had last night until you all heard the door slide open.
You all looked up to see a black tuft of hair followed by your homeroom teacher.
“Please everyone, sit down,” A tired and groggy Aizawa spoke as he entered the classroom.
Everyone immediately moved to their seats and waited attentively for his next instruction.
“As I am sure a few of you know, especially since some of you have already asked,” Aizawa began, “The sports festival is in about a month.”
Murmurs and whispers erupted in the class as students turned to excitedly talk to each other. You, despite knowing what the sports festival was, remained looking straight.
“It will be in three weeks from this Saturday, giving you ample time to prepare. Most of you already have internships,” Aizawa looked towards you for a moment, “So this will be an opportunity to get your name out there. Prove to your internships that you can do more than they expect and prove to citizens that you are a future hero to look out for.” He paused for a moment to file through some papers. “Who knows, maybe some of you will get a better internship than you already have.”
~~
“I am so excited!” Mina exclaimed in the cafeteria.
Kirishima, who was smiling kindly at his girlfriend nodded his head along.
“Why are you so excited?” Sero asked. “You are already interning with one of the best heroes.”
In response, Mina stuck her tongue out at the boy causing all of you to laugh. “I’m excited to kick your ass once again!” She retorted.
“We didn’t even fight last time,” Sero sighed in response before rubbing his eyes in fake irritation.
“Come to think of it,” You mumbled, grabbing everyone’s attention, “You all made it to the final round last time, right?”
“Of course we did,” Bakugou cockily replied. “And I am planning on winning it again.”
“We’ll see about that Bakugou!” Kirishima enthusiastically replied. “I’ve gotten much better and I can’t wait to fight you!”
“Why don’t you guys spar off now?” You asked Kirishima. “Or after class,” You then suggested, realizing that it wouldn’t be ideal to fight at school.
Kaminari scoffed loudly, making all of you turn your heads to him. “Bakugou never spars with us unless it is in class! He always does training by himself or in the field.”
“Shut up, idiot!” The ashy blond shot bad quickly, a cruel glare that would strike fear in anyone stared at Kaminari and caused him to flinch and hide behind Sero. “Tch,” Bakugou finally looked away, crossing his arms and pouting slightly.
You looked to Bakugou and noticed how clearly he was avoiding eye contact with you. You looked away from him, dropping the topic for now because you could see how uncomfortable he was. You turned back to the group, hoping someone would fill the silence.
“Who knows if we will even fight again?” Sero brought up. “The rounds were random last time, weren’t they?”
“The first two were,” Ashido corrected, “But the last one is always a one versus one tournament.”
Everyone nodded understandably and continued to talk about the sports festival while munching away at their lunches.
~~
When you arrived home, you couldn’t think of anything to fill your time before you had to meet up with Bakugou to make dinner. You only had about an hour too. Sighing, you opened your phone and opted to simply scroll through your phone until it was 3:55.
By the time you were downstairs, Bakugou was grabbing ingredients out of the fridge. Surprisingly, the whole downstairs was empty. Is Bakugou’s wrath so bad that no one hangs out down here while he cooks? You wondered as you approached the temperamental hero-in-training.
“Here and ready to serve, chef,” You jokingly said once Bakugou noticed you. You saluted and stood up as straight as you could.
In response, Bakugou chuckled. It was a genuine laugh that you rarely heard, but it was the equivalent to honey in your opinion. Rich, deep flavor, and something you craved to taste. Or in Bakugou’s case, craved to hear.
“Don’t fool around in the kitchen,” Bakugou finally said. His voice was soft, something you didn’t get to hear often, but you were grateful for. You wondered if anyone else got to hear Bakugou speak this way or if you were special.
The blond quickly began walking you through your instructions. He told you to wash your hands, then had you start with soaking the kombu that would go into the miso soup and cooking the large portion of rice people would share.
Luckily, everything ran smoothly. Bakugou, surprisingly, was a great instructor. He was able to lay everything out in front of you with simple, vocal commands.
“You’re really good at leading,” You commented at one point. It was before Sero joined in on cooking and right after Bakugou instructed you to sauté some onions, garlic, and ginger.
You looked at Bakugou, who was stirring the large pot of soup. It was clear a small red blush had found its way onto his cheeks. On top of that, his stirring slowed down, showing that your comment threw him off. “O-of course I am,” Bakugou replied, stuttering slightly but still speaking louder than a normal person would.
You simply smiled in response and noted how he reacted to compliments from you. For someone who seemed so confident almost to the point of being conceited, he took a compliment from you differently than he did from others. You felt your heartbeat quicken at the idea but pushed it away.
If something happens, it will be natural, you told yourself. Or at least better timed.
Right now, with the sports festival rearing its head, you were in no position to enter a relationship. Above all, being a hero and finishing school was most important to you. You had a long way to go as well, especially considering everyone else was already interning.
~~
At dinner, you sat with your regular group of friends. It made you nervous to call them that, but you couldn’t think of another term that would suit them any better.
Your seating arrangement was similar to how you ate at lunch with Bakugou at the head of the table, Kirishima and Ashido next to each other, and the rest of you seated somewhere in between. You were, once again, positioned next to Bakugou, something you had grown used to. To your left was Ashido and across from you was Sero.
Everyone talked cheerily and complimented you three on your hard work tonight. You bashfully replied with “thank you” while Bakugou yelled about how it had to be good if he made it.
“I was thinking recently,” Kirishima began after a brief pause in the conversation. He leaned over to look at you. Ashido kindly leaned back to make it easier. “Y/N-san, you don’t have your hero provisional license yet, do you?”
You stared at Kirishima, not quite sure what that was. However, you were able to guess. “Is that what allows me to use my quirk as a student?” You asked.
“Basically” Kirishima replied.
“Then no,” You quickly responded. “I had one in America, but it doesn’t work here.”
Kirishima hummed in understanding. “You should talk to Aizawa about that since you need it for an internship.”
You nodded in understanding and looked down at your food. “Thanks for the heads up,” You replied, debating when to do so.
“Of course,” Kirishima simply replied for taking a bite of rice.
“I’m sure you’ll ace it,” Ashido added, nudging you slightly. “You kick ass in class and we all passed it on the first try.”
“Not all of us!” Kaminari replied in a mocking tone.
The group looked to Bakugou and you followed right after. He had a look of fury in his eyes directed at Kaminari.
Sero immediately got out of his seat while laughing. “I need to stop sitting in between you two if you plan to be a little shit, Kaminari. Bakugou will take my head off just to get to you.”
Kaminari, who now feared for his life, jumped out of his seat and ran to the restrooms.
“Ugh,” Bakugou groaned while leaning back into his chair, “It isn’t worth it.”
Kirishima chuckled at his friends' comments.
Sero added, “I’m sure just seeing you that angry made him shit his pants.”
Everyone laughed at that.
Once everyone’s laughter died down, your group was left in silence. You could hear others chatting while that ate, but you personally felt a tugging at your brain.
“How did you fail?” You finally asked, your voice just a bit more than a whisper and overly timid.
Bakugou groaned again and sat back in his chair. He ran his hand over his face and through his hair. “Because of the stupid examiners,” He mumbled. “They wouldn’t listen to me and my anger got to me.”
“So, do you have your license now?” You asked.
“Yeah,” The blond sighed, “I got it through some extra classes we could take afterward.”
You nodded, the conversation dying down slightly. You had a lot to think about when I came to your future at this school, especially because of how much farther everyone else was at this point. Another thing on your mind was how long you would be staying here. Technically, your mom was only scheduled to stay here for about ten weeks as a teacher.
I’ll need to have a conversation with her about the school here, you thought as everyone began clearing off the table. You quickly finished off your food and joined everyone in moving the dishes into the kitchen.
You, Sero, and Bakugou stayed behind to clean up the dishes. However, Kaminari perched himself on a counter and held a conversation with Sero so you and Bakugou were not talking much.
Your night ended quite early because you washed up after dinner and simply worked on your schoolwork till late enough in the night.
~~
The next day, you left for class early, hoping to catch Aizawa in his office. It would definitely be easier to reach him after class, but you wanted his opinion earlier than later.
Luckily, the teacher was in his small office, wrapped up in his yellow sleeping bag, and snoozing off.
“Excuse me,” You spoke after knocking on his door. “Aizawa-sensei?”
He shifted slightly and his eyes opened just a little bit. “Hmm?” He hummed.
“I wanted to come to talk to you about, well,” You stumbled slightly over your words. “I know I might get an internship through the sports festival, but I also don’t have my hero provisional license…”
Aizawa unzipped himself from his sleeping back and sat up. His tired eyes looked at you and debated what to do. “Yes,” He sighed, “And you might not be here for the rest of your education.”
You nodded thoughtfully, debating what to do.
Before you could speak up, Aizawa began speaking once again. “If you are curious, the next hero provisional license exam is in June, a little after the sports festival. If you are wanting to intern, you will need to pass the exam before you can go out onto the field. You can, however, still practice off the field.” He paused for a moment. “If you decide not to, in case you think you will be going back to America, you can intern under me.”
You stared at Aizawa, not quite sure what to say. Aizawa was a blunt and understanding teacher, something you were admiring at this moment. This admiration doubled after such an offer.
He once again continued before you could say anything, “You should get practice with heroes besides your family so I encourage you to do something. I am also teaching another student here and I think you could both work well together.”
You looked down and nodded. “Thank you,” You mumbled.
“Don’t worry about it,” Aizawa spoke. “I am a teacher, it is what I am supposed to do.” Aizawa grabbed a small piece of paper and scribbled something down onto it before handing it to you. “This is where and when I meet with my student. Stop by to see if it is something you would like to do.”
You looked down at the paper and saw that Aizawa met with his student every Tuesday and Friday. Today, he would be meeting with his student an hour after school ends at the weight lifting gym.
“Thank you,” You said again, feeling better about your stance within the school. “I appreciate it.”
Aizawa motioned for you to walk with him towards your class. “My pleasure. You should know though that I am working on basics with this student. He wasn’t trained since childhood like you and wasn’t placed in a hero course.”
You nodded. “I’m sure I will learn from it,” You replied, “You are much different than my family.”
Once in the classroom, you moved towards your seat while Aizawa went to the front.
Kirishima sent you a bright smile knowingly and you gave him a thumbs up to let him know it went well. You sat down in your seat, looking forward to the training session with Aizawa-sensei.
~~
At lunchtime, you went to find your mom. You had texted her once the lunch started and asked to meet with her for lunch. She quickly replied to your text, telling you she could share food with you and eat at one of the picnic tables outside the west entrance.
She showed up with two plates of food, telling you that her lunch was catered to today so she took enough for each of us.
“It’s good to see you!” She exclaimed, smiling brightly as she grabbed her chopsticks and began eating.
“It’s good to see you too,” You replied. Although she was always so close to you, this is the longest you had gone without seeing her.
Ever since you were born, she never took a mission that would have her leaving home for more than a day. Being with family and training you and your siblings became much more essential than keeping her status. However, she was able to keep the status and be with her family.
You smiled, a bittersweet feeling rushing through you. Despite missing her, you also appreciated the time you have without her now. You thought back to Aizawa’s comment about how you should learn outside of your family’s teachings.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Your mom asked.
You were brought out of your thoughts and looked to your mother. “I wanted to talk to you about how long we will be here.”
Your mom nodded in understanding and finished chewing her food. She took a sip from her drink before clearing her throat. “Well,” She began, “As you know, I was brought here for ten weeks. When I get six weeks in, the faculty intends to interview my students and see if I should stay longer.”
You nodded as she paused to debate her next words.
“If you want to stay here, even if I go back to America, you are welcome to,” She finally said, surprising you.
“Really?” You interjected.
Your mom, although understanding, was coddling.
She taught your siblings even while they attended the Western Institution for Training Heroes, often called WITH. In fact, they were prodigies due to her extra teachings. To this day, your family visits your mother at least once a month and you know they have plans to see her soon.
You were coddled more than any of your other siblings. It was clear from an early age that you were different from them. Once your quirk came in, your life flipped. You reflected on how you were treated without thinking too much about it. However, once your father was out of the picture by the time you were six, your mother still refused to put you into school.
She hired multiple teachers to give you a good, general education as well as train you in heroics from day one. It was a difficult process considering how little she understood of your quirk.
When you were thirteen, you finally begged your mother and got your four siblings on your side to let you go to an actual school. However, when you arrived at WITH, you were shunned by multiple students despite your good grades and skill.
This only made your mom coddle your more. In fact, she only took this job because she wanted to get you away from America. She wanted to protect you from a world that knew your past and practically hated you for it.
“Of course,” She replied.
You looked at her in confusion, trying to understand why she would suddenly be treating you so differently. “But why?” You asked, genuinely confused.
“Because you like it here,” She responded simply. She took a sip of water before continuing.
Always one for dramatics, you thought.
“It’s been clear from day one that you are having fun here. You would have told me if you weren’t. On top of that, I know your curricular at this school and think it suits you well.”
“But how do you know for sure that I like it here?” You further questioned.
“I had my suspicions at first, but you bringing friends to the house was a dead giveaway,” She explained, reminding you of something you had completely forgotten about. “However, what really sold me was when you saw me while I was teaching the class. You very easily could have messaged me to ask a question like that, but you came to see me instead.”
You looked at your mom with a bewildered face, wondering what she was exactly getting at.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that!” She exclaimed while laughing. She was always into dramatics and proceeded to take a small bite of her food after her laughter died down.
You sighed, rolled your eyes, and waited for her to explain.
“Is it really not obvious?” She questioned. You shook your head and motioned for her to elaborate. “You came to see me when you didn’t need to and then proceeded to stare at the blond kid almost the entire time,” She insisted before once again laughing loudly because of your reaction.
“I did not!” You denied. You could tell your face was heating up and you tried to hide your embarrassment by shoving food into your mouth and pouting while you chewed.
“Yes, you did,” She spat back. “Did you really think that I, your mom, wouldn’t notice?”
“Whatever,” You grumbled under your breath and turned away.
Your mom scoffed at your childish antics, knowing full well that you didn’t mean any harm. After having four other children, she was used to these behaviors and didn’t feel the need to snap back.
“Anyways,” Your mom spoke once more, interrupting the moment of silence. “As I was saying before, you are welcome to do whatever you want. If you wanted to go back to America right now, I would let you. Or come back when I go back. Or stay,” She shrugged, “Literally whatever.”
You looked down at your food as your mom finished up your statement. You weren’t quite sure how to respond. “Thank you,” You mumbled.
“I do, however, want to warn you that you should at least graduate from school before thinking about relationships. I want you to have friends and excel in training. If I think that someone is going to get in the way of that, then you shouldn’t get too close to them.”
Of course.
She took the talk a step too far, making you feel like a fool.
You gulped down your nerves and didn’t bother to reply, worried it would worsen the conversation. At least I can stay here rather than go back to that god-awful school, you thought while stuffing your face to distract yourself.
You two sat in silence for a little while before your mom began asking you questions about your training, which you replied to thoroughly, knowing she would only egg you on until she got the answers she wanted.
“A new hero costume?” She questioned after you mentioned Iwasaki Kou. Her eyes were wide with worry.
Sheepishly, you replied with, “Yes, but I promise it still fits well with the family… it just also goes well with what I need as a hero.”
Your mom grumbled for some time before making you promise to show her your costume later that day by sending her a photo.
After that, you refused to tell her about your training will Bakugou, the very blond she was worried about. “I’ve been training with some classmates which is nice,” You simply explained which led her to start talking about various techniques.
~~
After school, you forced yourself to go home, eat a snack, hydrate, and change into some training gear. Despite how nervous you were, especially because you would be imposing on another student, you forced yourself to go.
Aizawa-sensei wants me to go anyways, you told yourself, he wouldn’t have offered if he didn’t.
When you arrived at the weightlifting gym, it was empty except for the student currently running on the treadmill.
You looked at him for a moment, taking in his appearance, despite only seeing his backside. He was in casual workout gear as well. His arms were exposed, albeit much smaller than the hero students in your class. His hair was purple and was rather wavy despite also standing up straight rather than falling toward his shoulders. However, what was most notable was the scarf wrapped around his neck. It looked identical to Aizawa’s and you already felt hot just thinking about running in such a heavy and thick material.
“Excuse me?” You eventually asked, coming up close to the purple-haired boy.
Awkwardly, he turned his body to look at you and proceeded to trip horribly. His back was headed to hit the moving treadmill belt, but at the last second, he used the scarf to hold him up to one of the hanging lights and prevent him from falling.
“God-fucking-dammit,” He mumbled as he slowly placed his feet on the ground and turned off the machine. He rubbed his arm, which has hit one of the handles and looked at you in anger.
His eyes, which were also purple, had dark bags underneath them and he didn’t seem to open them all the way. He looked so much like a purple version of Aizawa that you almost thought he was related to him.
“Can I help you?” The boy finally asked, staring at you with malice.
“Oh, uh, sorry,” You stumbled over your words in shock. “Aizawa-sensei told me to come here.” He looked at you for a moment without responding so you continued, “I am in Class 1-A, but I am kind of new. My name is Y/L/N Y/N and I don’t have an internship so he told me to come today. Are you his student?”
“Yes,” He grumbled without giving you his name.
“Ah, well, Aizawa-sensei told me he thought we could work well together.” You forced a smile to be as polite as you could to the obviously upset boy.
He looked at you, debating your words and wondering if they were true. “Whatever.” He turned away from you to face the treadmill again. “Aizawa-sensei has me run a few miles before he gets here. You can join or do whatever I guess.”
You nodded and waited for him to get started back on the treadmill before you stretched a bit and joined him. You moved to the one next to him despite fearing he might snap at you again.
By the time Aizawa entered the gym, you had run a mile and saw that the purple-haired guy had run four in total. Wow, he has really good stamina, you thought while following his lead and stopping the treadmill.
“I’m happy you joined us, Y/L/N-san,” Aizawa greeted as you both moved to face him. “Normally, I would have you two spar each other so you can get introduced to the others’ quirk, but that would be rather anti-climactic,” Aizawa paused to chuckled at his own joke.
Neither of you understood why.
“Anyways,” He clears his thought to speak again. “Instead I want you two to focus on sparring without quirks. Y/L/N-san, the style of fighting I have been teaching Shinsou-san is very different than what your mother does.”
Oh, so that is his name! you thought.
“I suggest you pay attention to his movements,” Aizawa continued. “And no quirks.”
You looked to Shinsou only to see he was already looking at you.
“What’s your quirk?” He asked you.
“What’s yours?” You shot back curiously.
Shinsou rolled his eyes in response and simply moved to the small fighting mat in the gym. You followed him and listened as Aizawa explained that he just wanted us to show each other our styles and not to hurt the other too much.
You two faced each other within the small circle and waited for Aizawa’s call. When the fight began, Shinsou was quick to move, adjusting himself defensively to make it harder for you to reach and attack him.
The fighting style you were trained in growing up was very offensively faced. Be stronger than the person you are up against and you will have no problems. However, your quirk required you to stay defensive. As a result, you tended to watch your opponent and wait for them to go for you first.
Tentatively, you circled the perimeter and watched as Shinsou mimicked your movements. Knowing Aizawa, you were sure his student would love to hide in the shadows like he preferred. However, because he was out in the open like this, he had to simply stay defensive until an opening arose.
However, you were worried about far-range attacks.
“Can we use support items?” You asked.
“Yes,” Aizawa replied simply.
“What? Worried about the scarf?” Shinsou shot back, his confidence rising.
“No,” You lied before stomping your boots to release the multiple spikes and dagger on each toe.
Shinsou looked at your shoes in shock, allowing you to move quickly and attack. You swung each foot, one after the other in an intricate fashion to keep him distracted.
Shinsou moved quickly and worked to dodge your attacks. However, his fear of your feet made him practically defenseless against your fists. You swung your fist at him and hit him square on the cheek. It wasn’t nearly forceful enough to hurt too bad but did knock him back a few steps.
Shinsou recovered quickly and went in for his own attack. He swooped to the right to distract you while moving his scarf in the opposite direction. Either he would hit you, or his scarves would trap you.
Quickly, you moved to block his fist and punched him in the gut to keep him occupied. He must control the scarf with his mind, so I need to distract him. The scarf kept moving though, approaching you much quicker than you anticipated.
You maneuvered rather awkwardly, trying to get a hold of the scarf. Specifically, you wanted to trap the end of the scarf under your shoe, but not rip I with the spikes and daggers. However, because the scarf moved much differently than a human would, you ended up trapped in the cloth. It wrapped around your right leg quickly and caused you to trip.
“Fuck!” You exclaimed as your nose hit the mat. Despite the pain you were currently feeling, you forced yourself to turn onto your back. Shinsou was still rather far from you and you were sure he was trying to wrap you up all the way with his scarf.
You looked down at the gray fabric as you climbed up your body. You didn’t have much time to think and looked at Shinsou. You grabbed a dagger you kept attached to the bottom of your calf and explained, “I’ll rip this scarf apart.”
You could hear Aizawa sigh from across the room, “No more support items. Those scarves are hard to replace.”
Smirking, you watched as the scarf went limp and Shinsou began wrapping it up. You put your dagger back onto your shoe and retracted the dagger and spikes. Once ready, you stood back up onto your feet and waited for Shinsou.
He was smart, but not very agile and clearly afraid to attack first. However, you still had much to observe before you felt comfortable against him. For one, he seemed to do a lot more weightlifting than you. If you got too close without a surprising strategy, he may be able to do more damage simply because he can hit you harder.
You moved quickly in hopes of surprising him. Once he seemed up and ready, you pushed forward, getting low and attempting to tackle him. You pushed Shinsou off his balance and he fell hard. However, thinking quickly, the purple-haired hero in training grabbed onto your arm and flipped his position with you. He pulled you faster and made you hit the ground first, his body then using yours as a cushion.
You groaned twice, once when your body hit the floor and again when Shinsou’s body hit yours. You pushed him off quickly and rolled to your side. “I need water,” You mumbled before slowly getting up and moving to your bag by the door.
It had been a long time since you sparred with no quirk use, and you were clearly rusty on your skills.
Shinsou simply followed you and grabbed his own water. A pattern soon formed where Aizawa would come to give you both instructions for an activity as well as pointers based on what he has seen from you too. Eventually, you would pause to drink some water or take a break.
Eventually, Aizawa dismissed you both a little before 8:00 PM.
“I hope to see you again on Thursday,” He told you before leaving the room and leaving you both alone.
“Are you heading out?” You asked Shinsou, turning to the boy.
“I’m gonna do some warm down stretches,” He mumbled before getting started.
Decidedly, you followed along with the stretches as you felt your heart rate calm down for the night. When you both finished, you each grabbed your respective items and began walking.
“Where is your dorm room?” You asked him as you exited into the cool nighttime air.
“It isn’t too far from yours,” He explained, “Just a few buildings down.”
You nodded. Although you were off to quite a rocky start with the boy, you seemed to be getting along much better with him. Hopefully, it could continue to get better. Especially if you planned to go to every session. “So, what is your quirk?” You inevitably asked him.
“Do you want me to show you or tell you?” He asked.
“I could say the same thing,” You cheekily replied. You smiled at Shinsou to show him you were joking.
“Go ahead then, show me first,” Shinsou answered.
Silently, you took out the earbuds and were quickly flushed with multiple thoughts of those around you. You focused quickly on Shinsou because of how close he was to you.
Has she had those in the whole time? What do they have to do with her quirk?
“They stop thoughts from going into my brain so I can focus more,” You replied, “And yes, I did have them in the whole time.”
Shinsou’s eyes widened in surprise.
You smirked and moved to grab his arm. “I can also feel your feelings,” You explained as you allowed his surprise to rush through you. “Or I can change your emotions.” You laughed and caused Shinsou to also start laughing.
After a moment, you let go of his arm and put your earbuds back in.
“Cool,” Shinsou said once he was no longer laughing over nothing. “I can see why Aizawa-sensei thought we would work well together.”
You were planning on asking Shinsou to show you his quirk, but you only got one word out before your body and mind when stiff. You couldn’t move.
“Touch your head with your right hand,” Shinsou lackadaisically spoke.
You felt your arm move up and the texture of your hair against your right hand. However, you never intended to do that.
He can control people? You thought. Suddenly, you felt a release on your body. You caught yourself before your knees could give out and breathed heavily. “Holy shit,” You sighed, looking up at Shinsou. “We would be one hell of a duo,” You mumbled.
Shinsou chuckled at your response and handed you his water. When you looked up at him with a questioning face, he simply replied, “I know you ran out of water and people tend to get thirsty when I use my quirk on them.”
You graciously took his water and drank a few gulps before giving it back. “Your quirk is really cool and powerful,” You explained as you both began walking again.
A conversation flowed easily between you both, each of your talking about your own and each other’s quirks. It seemed Shinsou had become more comfortable with you after realizing your quirk. Although not exactly the same, your quirk was fairly similar to his.
Eventually, you wished each other a good night as Shinsou separated from you to walk to his own dorm. You found yourself smiling widely at the prospect of a new friend. It seems like you now had plans for every Tuesday and Thursday now.
You made a beeline for the kitchen once you got home where Midoriya, Aoyama, and Koda were currently washing dishes from dinner.
“Hello, Y/L/N-san!” Midoriya greeted you.
You smiled back at the three boys as they all greeted you.
“Do you need dinner?” Midoriya asked.
“Ah, yes,” You replied, “I was out training. Sorry I missed dinner.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Aoyama replied while grabbing out multiple Tupperware containers from the fridge.
Inside was a classic American dish that made your stomach grumble. You made quick work of moving around the three boys in order to heat up some food and full up your water. You thanked them for their hard work, put away the leftovers, and made your way upstairs.
Despite feeling sweaty and gross, you were way too hungry to shower first. The rest of your night was rather mundane. After eating, you went downstairs to clean your plate before heading into the shower and getting ready for bed. You spent the next hour or so working on your homework assignments until you were tired enough to finally go to bed.
My thoughts on Seabound!!! 🌊🌊🌊 (3/4)
SPOILERS ALERT!!!
Yep yep yep, I'm liking this season a lot! 😍 Although I hope we'll get into a more frantic situation now, like with more battles and more bonding moments (Nya and Maya hopefully, but with Bentho too 🦈🦈🦈)! We got half a season to go, I'M READY!! 😎😎
Alright, here we go!
GENERAL THOUGHTS
I do like the season a lot, maybe MoM was a little more cohesive? Idk but it's not a big complain, I still love it so far 😍
Also maybe I would've liked more interactions between Nya and Maya about how they've been apart for so long, they had a chit chat but I would've loved even more. Maybe with Nya saying that it was fine and she grew up only to realize she is still hurt by that, even though it wasn't Maya's fault. I still like how they did it, I wished there was more that's it 🤷‍♀️
While I do make sense to Maya's behavior, that while it seems a little different from Hands of Time it had its logic in my opinion, maybe Ray feels a little weird? He seems less courageous than before, and it was established that he is a hothead like his son so that came off as unusual 🤔🤔
But I do love the fact that he's here and he's bonding with his son, for real, I've been waiting for this for so long so I'm happy nonetheless 🤩
Maybe I'm just easy to please and I take all I can get idk 😅
THE STORM AMULET
Oh, are we gonna address the wind element? It feels like we haven't really seen a Morro reference since Hands of Time, that would be cool! 😍 I mean, why even mentioning the wind then 😅😅
Well what do you know, they tracked them, who saw that coming?... me, I saw that coming... we all did probably 🤷‍♀️
Jay took upon himself making a quick recap on how Ninjago will be destroyed this time, thanks Bluebell 👌
Yep nyeheh electricity makes Nya go crazy for sure ❤💙 ... wait it wasn't a Jaya pun?
Jay wear your seatbelt please, you risk you life enough 😅😅 Pff lol "are we there yet" and they are actually there, biggest plot twist I've ever heard of 😂
LEGO HUG 💜💜💜
Tumblr media
And with someone who might as well join the League of Jay apparently 💙
I liked The Island yet it was not as exciting as I hoped for, but now understand the meaning of it. The ninja helped the keepers and they are all allies. Without The Island the moment where Mammatus gives Nya the amulet wouldn't be as meaningful
Is it just me or Nya looked even more gorgeous during that moment?... just me huh? Okay then 😂💕
Wait that's a fake? Wait... UNCLE POWERS?!? OMG THAT I ACTUALLY DIDN'T SEE COMING 🤯
Here I thought he was just messing around, he always makes things harder 😅 Or maybe better? I mean, they kinda missed a bullet on this one...
BENTHO IS SO SWEET AND COOL OMG HE IS ALREADY OUR FRIEND 💙🦈💙🦈
Jay somehow had his own TV show in the past and yet he's got that horrible acting skills wth 😂😂😂
Kalmaar is a very cool villain, like, deeply evil. Not only he's calculated and merciless, he stops at nothing to get what he wants. And the people that get in the way? He wants them to suffer because they had dared to confront him 😳
And yes the voice does help a lot, I'm sorry I'll keep saying it until the season is over 😂 (or even beyond? Please cast Giles again LEGO 🥺🥺🥺)
Awww Nya no my poor girl 😢 Jay wanted to hug her to comfort her he is so sweet my SHIP ❤💙❤💙
MOM PEP TALK MOM PEP TALK!!! 🤩🤩🤩 How cool was it?
Like, this isn't even Maya asking Nya to believe in herself, this is her saying that she KNOWS her daughter can do anything when she puts her mind into it. FINALLY SHE SEES HOW AMAZING WATER GODDESS IS 💜💜💜
MORE LEGO TEARS OMG THIS SEASON IS FILLED WITH TEARS 😱 Which... kinda makes sense considering it's a water based season 😂
Nice one, and now? NOW WE GO BACK TO KAI COLE AND RAY YAS!!! ❤🖤❤🖤
RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX
That is... surprisingly Egypt theme like? It feels like a title coming from the Fire Chapter of season 11... well we got two fire elementals so 😍😍
SPARRING KAI AND RAY
Tumblr media
I REPEAT SPARRING KAI AND RAY!!! SPARRING KAI AND RAY!!! ❤❤❤ Lol Ray got old, but how can someone blame him? He did touch death while aging in Hands of Time, I'm just happy he is alive 😂
Yep, master prankster Wu, that's what I love 👌👌 I always thought Wu had become a father figure for Kai at the beginning, so seeing Ray and Wu in the same picture feels very wholesome to me 😚
Ah, uncle Powers, I both love you and hate you so freaking much 😌😌 But you make cool slides nonetheless 😂
ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME WITH BEAUTIFUL SMITH INTERACTIONS??
Tumblr media
BECAUSE I LIKE IT KEEP GOING 🤩
Oh no you guys are stranded on an island whatever are you going to do?? It's not like you had already before and managed to survive (Skybound) or you got stranded on a rock in a sea of sand filled with giant monsters (Fire Chapter) or you were on a freaking COMET in SPACE (Rebooted). Yeee, this is the worst yet 🙂
I'm starting to think these ninja are just a bunch of drama queens so no matter what happens, it's always hopeless 😂😂 I feel like I'm kinda right on this one honestly 😛
Whoa whoa WHOA WHO IS NYAD THIS SOUNDS VERY COOL???
Aww I like that, while Ray told his kids stories about dragons and how they traveled through the Underworld, Maya told them about Nya the first water master that could summon whales 💙❤💙❤
Pff imagine if it turned out Nya was the master of fire, carrying a very water based name? Lol
Maya: I would know if it was possible!
Nya: Yeah, like she knows that I can control a bit of ice because it's frozen water
Maya:...
Maya: YOU WHAT
I find both interesting and very annoying that this explorers club thinks so highly of themselves, to the point the deny to aid even the FREAKING SAVIORS OF THEIR FREAKING LAND 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Misako got good reflexes after all, Kai was probably ready to melt this guy's face 😅
Oh, so a trial by Sphinx is a challenge? A mental one? A cultural one? A physical one? Idk but Misako is actually taking charge and that is cool I guess 🤷‍♀️
Okay this is kind of weird, how is Ray so afraid? Is it because there's fire?... did he... did he grow afraid of fire for some reason? Because it feels a bit off for now, but if there is a deeper meaning that could be interesting 🤔
Wait is that the riddle from Decoded? That's fire right?
IT IS FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Lol at least in this one Kai wasn't completely ignored 😂 I know my flame babe isn't the most rational person, but I do like that it was an answer connected to his element where he used his head!
Ah Clutch, you really got no backbone 😅 And apparently you're the only explorer who doesn't, dang look at the others go! I'm having a bit more respect for them now 😚
LOOK AT SENSEI GO FINALLY!!! 😍😍 FIGHTING SCENES HECK YES!!!
Kalmaar: I'm your conquerer
Wu: so after skeletons, the serpentine, nindroids, the Stone Army, Chen's army, ghosts, oni, more snakes but on fire and people from a game, that makes you the tenth. Have a free cookie
Kalmaar:...
Wu: you're not special
Is this a little throwback to Possession too? Nya seems to always control better water when she doesn't actually think about it. When her feelings are free, so are her powers 🌊🌊🌊
Also this opens up more possibilities! Creatures connected with other elements might get summoned too! I would love something like that 😍😍
This was NEAT, or maybe I just missed Kai that much ❤ What's next??
PAPERGIRL
ANTONIAAAAAAAA!!!! MY GIRL IS BACK!!! All my girls are back in this season, I'm so happy 😍😍😍 And if she is here, sweet little Nelson has to be around and I cannot wait! Bring in the purple ninja! 💜
Owww Antonia's last day as a papergirl? Nooo why??
She's got a job at the... DAIRY DRAGON??? OMG OMG OMG IT'S THE ICE CREAM PLACE BRAGI TOLD US ABOUT ON TWITTER!!! 🤩🤩🤩 I remember the post, he was asking about names for the place and ice cream flavors. Now I can't wait to see what did he choose 🍦🍦🍦
UNAGAMI BABY HI HONEY!!! 🙋‍♀️ I hope he's doing great 😘😘
This is so cool honestly, Antonia got her own character arc going on! Living in a chaotic city like Ninjago City must be pretty dang exhausting 😅
Was... was that Dareth in the garbage can? Am I wrong? Poor brown ninja 😅🤎😅
SPINJITZU SWIRL, BANANAKHAN, ORANGE SERPENTINE, I'M DYING 😂😂😂
Their friendship is so wholesome, I'm so happy they are still together no matter what happens 💕
I thought Kalmaar wasn't much of a fighter but DANG he's got skills! Also the fact that he uses tentacles makes the fight very cool to watch! 😚😚
RAY RUNNING IN AFTER KAI GOT HURT HECK YES ❤❤❤
Well at least you tried Ray 😅
Ah, little cameo of the original Weekend Whip, always nice to hear it again... AND DO THE WEEKEND WHIP!!! 🌪🌪🌪
EVEN NELSON GOT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I'M SO PROUD 💜
I don't even know what is cooler, the kids being mad lads on their bikes, Kalmaar driving a TRUCK or Kai going full parkour on the buildings to follow them 🤯
I'm sorry... am I the only one that during the Kai and Kalmaar talk kinda thought of Jestro and Clay? I miss my boys from NK, they're even more at odds now 😭😭
KAI YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE OR EVEN TRY TO DIE GET BACK HERE AT ONCE 😱😱
Kalmaar just loves to make everyone feel inferior, gotta be his hobby 😶
Oh good Kai is back
OH NOT GOOD KAI IS NOT BREATHING?!? FLAME BABE I TOLD YOU YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE 😱😱😱
Tumblr media
Antonia, Nelson, you guys are now my heroes. You saved my fave, I'll be forever in dept with you ❤❤❤ Am I being overdramatic? Most likely, but Kai is one of the few that didn't almost die or did die in a dramatic situation and he is also my absolute favorite character so that... kinda keeps my sanity in check in this show 🥴
I wonder... does he still not know how to swim? He saved Lloyd in Possession but I wonder if he was only trying to float on the surface... THAT'S TERRIFYING
This episode was so adorable, I love Antonia and Nelson so much 💜💕💜💕 It's nice to see what the other people of Ninjago do while everything goes mad 🤣
Wait hang on my Ninjajan is a little rusty
Tumblr media
"Ninjago City. City that never sleeps" well if that ain't the truth 😂
MASTER OF THE SEA
Like Master of the Mountain? Wait are we going back to Shintaro?? VANYA?? ANOTHER BEST GIRL RETURNS??? 💛
Hey hey hey, we got a full Nyad backstory! I really like when they do these little drawn shots, they feel more like legends! And... the ending sounds terrifying? Like, they wouldn't let Nya sacrifice herself and die... again... right? 😱
Bentho: and the world was in balance, until now because of my brother
Lloyd: and the Overlord before of course
Bentho: the what now?
Lloyd: the evil one my grandpa the first Spinjitzu Master fought?
Bentho: YOUR WHAT NOW
Why do I like this offscreen "hiiiyaaa" that sensei Wu does before actually going into the scene? 😂😂
No matter if they come from the underground or the sea, these are all snake-like creature with the same intellect 😅 Kalmaar and Garmadon would have a lot to talk about, sea king dealing with his minions does remind me of Lord Garmadon in season 2 a lot 😂😂
KAI AND RAY FIGHTING TOGETHER KAI AND RAY FIGHTING TOGETHER ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤
OMG Kalmaar is such a brat and petty villain I love him so much 😂😂😂 Yes I didn't even mention his amazing voice!... AH DANG IT 😳😳
*Misako kicks Kalmaar and is actually useful* 🙆‍♀️🙆‍♀️🙆‍♀️
*Misako gets taken as hostage immediately after* 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
KAI LITERALLY JUST GOT SAVED FROM DROWNING WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO HIM!!!... and Ray and Cole and Wu of course, I care okay 😅
OMG that face 🤣🤣🤣
Tumblr media
That some meme material right there
Whoa Vincent that voice just got super up when the Unsinkable showed up, it kinda sounded like Jay's lol
NO NOT BENTHO!!! 😢😢😢
Kai: Nya talks to whales now? (I snorted so hard at this 😂😂)
HECK YES NYA GOT THE AMULET!! 😍😍😍 ... we got, like, four more episodes to go so something needs to happen in between... do I need to be scared? I feel like I need to be scared 😅
Jay starting a fire then blaming Kai?... this is so in character I got chills 😂😂
SHARK BOY IS STAYING TO THE MONASTERY THIS IS SO PRECIOUS!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I want all the shenanigans and we need to write fanfictions about more shenanigans and AAAAHHHHH 🦈🦈🦈
Bless these two fire idiots
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They own my heart ❤🔥❤🔥 Also Vincent, this is supposed to be a fun little gag moment, your amazing voice acting is kinda distracting me 😭😭😭
ANOTHER LEGO HUG
Tumblr media
YOU GUYS ARE SPOILING ME OVER HERE HECK YES 💙🌊💙🌊
Maya learned that her daughter is capable of everything, I love that. Nya simply understood that she doesn't have to give up when something gets difficult. She is AMAZING and can do anything she puts her mind into. She simply has to hold on until the end 💪💪💪
Omg Benthomaar playing billiard with the guys I already love this 😍😍
YES IT IS SHINTARO!!! THE UPPLY ARE HERE OMG!!! HI VANYA YOU LOOK AMAZING GIRL MISS YOU I HOPE YOU'RE DOING OKAY!!! 💛💛💛 ... I just really like Master of the Mountain okay 😅
I love how Vanya doesn't even question it. It comes from Cole and he said it needs to be protected? Done and done 👌
Wait what, did something fall?
IS THAT THE FAKE?!?!? WHAT HOW WHEN??? UNCLE POWERS??? OR KALMAAR DID SOMETHING??? SOMEONE??? I'M LEGIT CONFUSED AND EXCITED??? 🤯🤯🤯
Well dang, I didn't see that coming, now what Seabound? What do you have for me?
