I've been thinking to myself hey I maybe I should email this breeder, just bring up our potential interest in a future puppy and also I guess ask if they think their dogs could have the potential for assistance work, but first of all I might as well have never written an email in my life bc I have no idea how to go about this!!! On Gifmaking:

So season 2's coming soon, and I wanna reflect on making gifs ever since I came back to Tumblr. I can't believe it's been 2 years of making gifs for this show!!!!! Look at how large my folder is lmao

And those are JUST gifs lol

Anyways, over time, my style has changed, especially how I color edit Arcane gifs. I kind of strayed away from a stylized filter color into just something that looks a lot more "natural" and works with the original scene.

Initially, I thought I'd save time, but I ended up not using my old arcane preset PSDs and resulted to coloring almost every scene manually. So in the end, it takes even longer to make them HAHAHA. It takes around an hour and a half for me to make a 10 gif set, basically. It also helps that I have a photography background, so coloring/editing is a lot simpler for me.

Here's a lil before and after of a dark scene (hiiiii viiiiiii <3)

Arcane is a REALLY dark show, but it goes for most of TV shows. Many of them are darker and harder to bring up the lights to make stuff look nice as gifs. Some people don't like to color their gifs, and that's okay. I personally just like color edited gifs more.

I've started learning how to upscale scenes myself, so that I have a better resolution and leeway to make things look "HD" more.

If you're wondering why my stuff look so "crisp", it's a combination of the scene's lighting, my sharpening settings on Photoshop and knowing how to upscale everything into 4k resolution. Of course, doing this needs an extremely beefy pc, which I am very lucky to own one.

Here's another before and after of a nicely lit scene. These are much, MUCH easier to do than all the darkly lit scenes because of shadows and lighting (caitlyn kiramman truly the rizzler <3)

I've been very lucky to be able to essentially take a nice, long break for like a month doing nothing after being so damn busy for the last year and a half, so it's nice that I was able to make a ton of gifs and be chronically online for a short while LMAO.

It's been so fun! But it's time to go back to reality lmao. I closed reqs for a bit because I was just so swamped with them the last few days, and I wanted to gif scenes that I like this time. I've done like 2 weeks worth of gifs. And you will see Vi a lot bc she's on my mind a lot heehee 🥰what can I say, she's such a babe <3

Here's a lil sneak peek, just look at herrrrrrr 🥰🥰🥰 and yeah, 4k upscaled resolution really helps making these tight crops, it's why i never went back to 1080p lol. It's how I’m able to make zoomed in gifs look decent (like the kirammountains gifset lol)

Thank you so much for all the support, likes, reblogs, and the nice tags you guys give. Yes, I can see and read all of them (both the nice and nasty ones lmao). If you have nothing good to say about the characters or my editing style, or anything related to the edit, please I beg you, just write a separate text post about it <3 If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it in my edits.

Tumblr is sadly not what it used to be in the 2013-2015 era. There’s definitely less activity as time goes by, so I appreciate all the people who credit and link back to this sideblog. Unfortunately, there’s more people who just repost them and it gets wayyy much more traction in other soc med sites. Yeah, ofc I get a lil jealous, but eh what can you do 😞 can’t really stop em.

I also don’t like putting watermarks because it personally looks tacky to me, but I understand why other people do it.

any tips on how to draw in the splatoon style?

Ive been trying over and over to answer this question but i simply can't, cus i dont know how i make stuff, i did 2 tutorials in the past and they are simply me going "yeah you just go black in your mind and then come back and boom!" I tried to film myself a few times but still it's simply me zoning out filling a canvas of millions of sketches and then just drawing and drawing. There's no step by step thing, I simply just go BRBRBRBRBBRR and like adding really REALLY specific details and then BRBRBRBBR.

I tried hard, to think, why I make it accurate, I honestly tried for over 4 years to do splatoon looking art before i even opened this account, especially for commissions or doing more splatband art, people can give you feedback and if you're good enough they'll pay you.

I really came to think I was the best to just hate the art i did 3 days after, I did the "pufuu" moment trying to fake leake art or something and you can really put there if ppl is 1) so desesperated for new art 2) youre good at it

Then I tried to think, well did i studied the style? Yesss,,, at the begining, then i starts to differ as different artists besides Inoue, and his style also develops, so basically as long it fits,,

These 3 drawings just look complely different from each other and still it simply makes them more unique.

"But then how you make it splatoon?" You simply can't, cus it is not just one person, there is a lot, make it your own, give it your own twist, but, what about brushes, THATS what gives the style... right?

this art LOOKS officinal, but it isnt, thre's barely any rough edges like in original, there's some shading but it is not like in the original

is it the anatomy? neither, you can clearly see how they change every time how they draw inklings, sometimes the draw eyebrows in place, sometimes they round the faces sometimes they color pink they mouth despite the ink color. IT IS NOT JUST ONE PERSON.

I'm pretty new to editing and I want to understand the choices made for a edit better, especially the filters, png placements, textures etc! Hii ! I'm not that good at explaining , but i can try to explain how i do things !

I find masks on pinterest or this carrd i also have my most used ) fav resources in this post!

I use photopea && ibis paint. For the png placement.. i mainly put the mask in the middle and if i wanna add things like ribbons or other pngs i put it like.. to the side but on top of the first mask if that makes sense? theres a lot of ways to place pngs though, i recommend you look through tumblr for edits and you can give urself an idea on designs and even take inspo ! ( rmbr to cr if the creator asks 04 insp credit , you can also search up ' rentry inspo ' on pinterest and a lot of rentry graphics will come up ! )

For the filters ) coloring, you can use polarr (and app) or psds ! you can search up free psd or psd on tumblr.. its sort of like a filter ? it works mainly on photopea & photoshop.. so just download the psd and import it onto photopea ) photoshop ! hopefully that makes sense idk.. @/kiochisato , @/essthereal , @/ii-nandesu , @/heartsymphonia are who i mainly use psds from !

u would have to pay $0 because i don’t mind sharing them with u if that’s what u want!  🙈  it’s not a lot  (but it’s still honest work)  because these are edits i made for my friend and i to see only.  since i was never planning to ever release them,   they are not really that breathtaking or anything,  they are kinda half-assed,  not going to lie!  the days when it was just me,  the sharpening tool,  and a random orange psd i made in 2018 against the world…

I was reading your faq and you mentioned that you use krita but also use clip studio if you have a lot of coloring to do, and I was wondering how you do that? Is there a file type that's compatible with both of them, or do you save it as a transparent png?

Just curious, thank you for your time and your cool art!

I always save my files as a .psd (photoshop file) format so that I can open them in both programs with no problem :)! If the file size is SUPER large and complex I will sometimes save my lines as a transparent .png for efficiency.

I was at the library yesterday, which is now my go-to for distractionless work; I uploaded Dinner At The Palace with a few last edits so it's ready to go in print and epub, wrote all the sales copy, and updated my website with "coming soon" announcements. Wordpress really is just the worst; I can code what I want in about a third of the time it takes to tell Wordpress what I want and even then it fucks it up. It's like working with Word if it were designed by a toddler who hates me, personally. I'm building a new site on another platform, which is not much better but does allow me to copy, paste, or delete a block of text by selecting said text, something Wordpress's feeble grasp on structure is still grappling with. As we have daily proof. *gestures at Tumblr*

Anyway, I've been thinking about overhauling the older novels, standardizing them into the style guide I've developed. So I dug out all the upload files for Nameless, my first novel, and cracked them open just to see what kind of work it would take.

The document file for Nameless is so old that Windows wasn't sure how to open it. I mean it was just a .doc file and Windows likes to give you options when it's not a .docx, but I was still amused that I had to tell it how to get into the Ancient Tome. This was also before ebooks were as big as they are now, especially in indy publishing; these days you can just upload a word document and Lulu will convert it, but back in 2009 I had to create an HTML file of my novel to get it converted to ePub. Wild.

The bad news is that my early documents for my first few novels are a brutal mess, but the good news is that because I was less sophisticated in terms of how to typeset, they're also very simple and easy to upgrade, and even back then I was saving the covers as psd files, so it's all editable. I'd rather finish Royals/Ramblers than work over all my old manuscripts, but they're a nice break when I'm tired of other work.

Now I just have to determine if I have the emotional stability to re-read Nameless. It was a very personal novel to me, but it was also published almost 15 years ago, and I'm a little concerned about being able to read my deathless 2009 prose without wincing. I tell myself we all learn and grow, and Christopher and Lucas aren't real and won't suffer if I wrote them poorly, but I'm still bracing myself for all that.

i tend to lean towards making pink edits i think! i love making pink and red edits mostly :D

and i HATE editing yellow or a light green, i don't know why i can just never get it right- except for this yayoi edit i think the yellows in this one are really nice

NO WAY!!" also with s = z typing quirks too, i remember my S key hurt too much to press so i settled with what i called "an amaru typing quirk" it was actually really fun

hi! sorry it took me so long but i had class </3

i don't save my psds unless i'm working for several days on something, so i'll be making the gif from scratch again!

we want to achieve a blending like this, from this post on my chan birthday countdown here

i'll put the steps under the cut bc it's going to be very image heavy! if something isn't clear just let me know <3

okay! so you need to make two gifs obviously, they need to have the exact same amount of frames (to avoid having to trim the gif on the timeline)

you don't have to color to perfection bc we're just going to put a b&w gradient map over both of them, the thing i did was enhance the darks in my gifs before putting the b&w layer so it would look the best. when you have everything done and ready to go, you convert everything to smart object

now i'd like to recommend using gifs that have more darks than lights, simply bc it's easier to blend things in dark backgrounds. in this case i didn't think too much and had to fight a little on how to blend bc nothing was working so it's just a really handy suggestion that'll save you lots of headaches <3

okay enough babbling, we pick the gif that's going to be in color first. in my case i picked the gif on the left, i added a green/black gradient map over it

now we go to the other canvas with the other gif and hit right click on the smart object and then click on duplicate layer, in the options that show where you want to duplicate it, you pick the option for the canvas that has our green gif and then click OK

now the layers on the main canvas should look like this (i changed the names of the layers for organization purposes so don't mind that)

now we start the blending! we select the gif on top and in the drop down menu that currently has "Normal" as the setting we change it to "Lighten". Your canvas should look like this right now

we're almost there! for this part i played with the positions of the gifs, i sent the bottom gif a little more up on the canvas so the top gif didn't cover it too much, and i moved the top gif a little more to the bottom too so the darkest part of it would fit more accurately with the green gif

now we "erase" the parts of the gifs that we don't want to be showing. i clicked first on the top gif and then went to the little icon here to enable a layer mask, next to the layer of your gif should be the white box like this, you need to enable the layer mask for both gifs bc we'll be erasing from booth!

with a black brush set to hardness 0% we paint black the parts of the gif we want to erase

if you "erase" too much of the gif, just change the color from black to white and paint again and the gif will be back to normal, this is how my canvas looks now that i erased bits from both gifs

and once you deem it okay, it's all done! ready to add text and other little things to make it more interesting or just to save it as it is <3

the key to a good blend is to play well with the darks tbh and use layer masks bc they help A LOT, also not picking too bright gifs bc you'll have to work extra to find the right settings, just play around and find what looks the best tbh

You were never one for pets. Could barely remember to feed yourself on bad days and your job isn’t exactly cushy but this new one you picked up is low-maintenance enough to make it work. He’s not bad to look at either, you think to yourself as you watch him saunter to the fridge to fetch you that bottle of soju you’ve been holding onto. He takes direction well enough, eager to please most times. Poke him too much and he cops an attitude but it’s cute, in his own little Denji way.

You two sort of just fell into this routine. He comes around to your apartment after sending you five text messages too many and because you have such a heart for strays, you let him in each time. You don’t know how to punctuate your relationship or if you even want to. He’s immature and runs his mouth at max volume at all times but you’re able to shut him up pretty fast and it just so happens that he has a gift. A knack for making you feel good. 

“So what we’re going to do is,” You fill up two small glasses with far too much liquid courage and without skipping a beat you continue, “play a racing game but you have to finish your drink before the third lap ends. But!” You punctuate the caveat with a finger pointed at him, “You can’t drink and drive and you can only start drinking when the race starts. Got it?” 

“Okay,” Denji agrees but he has his own condition, “Loser has to strip.” He hasn’t even started drinking but his smile is a little twisted, showing ever so slightly his pointed teeth. He holds his glass up, waiting for you to seal the deal with a toast and you oblige with a similar smirk painted on your features. So sweet, you muse, he thinks he can beat me. 

He never had a chance. You didn’t have any dirty tricks up your sleeve; you didn’t need to. You know your liquor and the game more than Denji and it showed. He’d be flustered with every sip, feeling especially rushed when he’d see your cart whiz by him and it certainly didn’t help that you would laugh each time and you know how he feels about your laugh. He’s told you as much, unprompted one night as he rested his head on your lap. He can’t remember what he said to make you giggle so much but it came almost natural for him to tell you, “Your laugh’s nice.” Since then, he’s paid special attention to what comes after you laugh. The way your nose crinkles, how you smile with your eyes until your laughter finally dies out. So can you blame him for stalling an extra second or so just so he can secure a glimpse at how pretty you look when you laugh?

Only now you look a teensy bit malicious, snickering at him once victory’s been secured. It’s no big deal, he thinks. What’s one loss? It’s nothing you’ve never seen before anyways so off his shirt goes, tossed over the couch. He has to admit though, it’s still intimidating to be the object of your attention when you look as good as you do. He’d also prefer it if you were the one being exposed. Then he could see what bra you were wearing. Would it be one he’s seen before? Would it be something new? He’s getting carried away, imagining the fat of your breasts perfectly framed by the cups. He’s red and hot in the face and he hasn’t even gotten to picturing your nipples yet. He doesn’t get to though, not when you’re waving the controller in his face demanding a rematch.

“Bet’cha I can get you down to your underwear without losing.” You tease him with your tongue poking out but he’d rather be kissing you than playing another round. You’re insistent though and no amount of his persistence can beat you when you’ve made up your mind. So a second match is played. He fares a little better, having mastered the art of drifting half way through the second lap. It’s not enough though and you’re already down two drinks, two wins, and he’s just plain down to his underwear. You’re ruthless, telling him that socks don’t count and they go along with his pants. 

He doesn’t think you’re playing fair at this point but he can’t decide if you’re doing it on purpose or just too tipsy. “What’s even the point of this if I don’t get to see you naked?” He’s huffing like a brat, red in the face from drinking and being the sole loser between the two of you. He doesn’t even want to play another match at this point. Lucky for him, neither do you.

“Ahhh, Denji!” You steal his portion of the drink faster than he can react. The soju goes smooth down your throat, leaving that heat you love so much to bloom in the pit of your stomach. You lean in close, close enough that Denji can see the shine of alcohol on your lips and a little on your chin. You bump noses as you start to slowly crawl onto him, your bottom settling on his lap as you dock both your legs on the sides of his. You can see his eyes dance, the nerves getting to them already as you roll your hips and thus, your clit grinds against the pitched tent in his boxers. You whine and he swallows up your meek noise like it’s the only thing he’s had to eat this week. Your spit tastes like alcohol with a hint of lychee but he drinks you up like water. You break the kiss, a bridge of saliva between your lips coming undone just as quick as it came and you slur, “‘Yer always thinkin’ about you, you, you! The logic is sound but you are not. It feels off, kissing you like this when you can hardly keep your back straight. The last gulp of soju must have really pushed you over the edge. He’s seen you drunk, but not like this. Not with your hair out of place, cascading in a frame around your face with your lips parted and pouted when he hesitates on kissing you back. You’re almost irresistible, the way you drag your clothed cunt against his erection with a rhythm he can only imagine fucking you to… But not like this.

“H-Hey.” He struggles to find his voice, not just because he’s a little tipsy himself but because he’s going to possibly make you unhappy, “Can we…” He clears his throat, “Can we stop?” Denji’s body shudders, his cock twitching in disapproval as his hands clamp down on your waist in a feeble attempt at stopping your addictive gyrations. Every time you grind down on him, he loses a bit of his resolve but not enough to fold.

You balk, head rolling forward and you poke at his chest, annoyingly so. “Whaat? You want to stop? You’re not Denji!” He mimics your expression, loudly arguing back, “I am! I just don’t want this!” His outburst freezes you in place, stunting your breathing as you weakly ball up his shirt in your hands. He doesn’t want to? Really? Shame unleashes a wave of unsettling heat throughout your whole body, your skin getting clammy as you look anywhere but his eyes. “Is it ‘coz I’m drunk?” 

It’s hard to see you like this. You look so downcast, head pointed down with your hair shielding the majority of your embarrassment from him but he doesn’t need to see it to know you feel bad. Seconds of silence pass between the two of you but it agonizingly feels a lot longer. Denji hates this. “Yeah.” He finally grumbles, “It’s not gonna be any fun if you’re gonna end up pukin’ all over me.” That’s not the real reason and somehow, in your drunken stupor, you know this. He doesn’t want the first time he’s ever had sex, more importantly his first time with you, to be clouded with an alcohol-induced haze. He wants to remember everything, for you to remember everything. For you to decide that you want to have sex with him- no stipulations, no excuses.

“‘Kay.” You finally say, in a bit of a departure from your downtrodden tone of voice from before. You shuffle off him, pull the bra string that was hanging loosely by your shoulders and finagle with your hair awkwardly. “Sorry.” You try to keep your apology above a whisper, loud enough so he can hear but the shame muffles your volume a tad bit. Now you just want to sleep this moment off, forget about this weird tension in the room and try again another day.

Denji’s head pops through the collar of his shirt and with his hands finally freed, he grabs your shoulders and shakes you once to get you to look at him. “I still want to do it though!” He looks so serious when he says it, it makes you laugh. First it’s a series of snickers but then it quickly evolves into full on laughter. Tear prickle the corners of your eyes until there’s nothing left but surprised delight glossing your vision. “Okay, okay. Deal.” 

 You yawn and then he follows suit. The room is no longer heavy with awkward discomfort, Denji’s made sure of that. “I think I just wanna sleep now.” You mumble. “You wanna join? No funny business.” He nods overzealously. “Good boy.” You coo, petting his hair gently. He won’t have you tonight but he can hold you and that’s more than enough.

these are all from projects that i have in a folder titled "on the bench" that i want to pretend i'll come back to, but.... some of these have been benched for so long and they're no longer fresh in my head so i fear they'll be abandoned forever. should also be mentioned that a lot of projects on the bench are literally just me making all the typography first and then losing inspo when i actually wanted to gif things.... usually by the time i do start, i change my mind about the type anyway. i also have so many abandoned gifs from other gifsets i've already posted but i'm not even sure where to begin searching so... here are some things!

one of the many gifs i already created for a prompt from @yellowjacketsoctober to put the show in a different genre. ironically, a prompt that i came up with for the event specifically to make this gifset but didn't even complete. i spent so many hours and so many days trying to gif this entire arc for these three with the intent to make it a heist drama set but after so long i realized i was just giffing exactly what happened in the show and it started to feel pointless. but at least here's a preview of something that i'll never finish. my trio of all time, can they commit more crimes together please! (should also be said that this folder is 44gb because i already saved all the caps + because these psds are so heavy... new years clean up for real)

i don't know what it is about lydia that makes it so hard for me to finish any set for her, but every time i try i seem to always lose the drive eventually (probably because twd in general just feels really uninteresting for me to blend, for some reason). from a 2022 spotify wrapped meme, i'm pretty sure i restarted this specific gifset so many different times, unhappy with the colors and the blends and the text and everything -- which is why there are two very different examples here. my girl of all time though i will finish something for her eventually (and maybe even this one, because this song is still so good for her).

one of the many gifs that were abandoned by my scream vi set for favorite slasher in october. when tumblr first changed the image upload limit to 30, i promised myself to never take advantage of that too much, but i severely underestimated how many moments i would want to include for this movie and i made so many other gifs for this set but ultimately cut them so i could try to tone it down - 18 gifs in this set still feels like a lot but i spent so much time on this set that it was hard to part with many more. anyway here's sam being the hottest final girl in the world and correct about everything.

i don't know how long this has been on the bench but it was definitely a project i started way before season 2 even aired. i think i just got stuck and wasn't sure where to go with it, but anyway her!

extra spoiler for @wyllhalsin but this was supposed to be a pride edit in june for one of my favorite lgbt characters of all time. this show's camera movements nearly makes it impossible to blend anything so i lost the drive, but i will come back for felix someday (and for coty, obviously this set was for him).
