#but he says it was worth it to see the smile in Katie's face
Text
Imagine, during Kendall's career day his mom was too busy to make it, so he didn't have anyone. So his best friends are like: you can share my mum/ dad!
Then when Katie's career day arrives, their mum is busy yet again (but they don't blame her), so kendall asks his friends if their parents can go instead, but they are all busy so kendall decides to go instead.
Since Katie's scheduled time for her parent is in the afternoon, kendall ditches school and runs to Katie's school, but he is slightly late. So Katie's class is just waiting when kendall suddenly bursts through the door and shouts: sorry I'm late! Some idiot tried to run me over as I was running across the road!
A few kids and parents recognize him because he's bagged their groceries a few times. Kendall explains his 'job' of being a big brother and his job at working at the supermarket.
Once he's done he sits with the other parents and Katie's teacher is like: don't you have to go back to school?
And Kendall's like: nope, schools practically over by now, so I'll chill here until Katie's done.

Lucifer x Imp!Reader
warnings: imp bigotry, heavy topics, lowkey angsty (happy end, i swear)
ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ
• Secret relationship, baby!
• Let’s get into the hard part first, shall we? The discrimination of Imps isn’t something Lucifer set into motion. They helped him build Hell into what it is today—! Which is… flawed. Fuck, there’s no excuse. Know that he doesn’t condone it and he’s ashamed to admit he allowed it get this far
• That saying “history repeats itself”? Yeah, Hell isn’t immune
• It’s an elephant in the room situation when your and Lucifer’s feelings come into play. Along with the enormous power imbalance. He would never take advantage of that, by the way, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s there
• Those issues are in the beginning though. Yes, it takes a lot of time and many painful conversations but now? Undoubtedly worth it
• Lucifer is quite proud of himself for the charade he concocted. You pose as his employee! No one would question it and you could hang around as much as you like! It’s perfect, right?
• “It sounds like a shitty romcom plot.” You snort
Lucifer’s smile is unwavering, eyebrows high on his face as he awaits what he longs to hear.
“But?”
Sighing, you softly return his smile, “It’s perfect.”
• And like a shitty romcom, it is
• Naturally, there’s ups and downs
• For Lucifer, the worst is that he hates keeping you a secret. It’s not that he wants to dish it live with Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench, he’s rather private as is, he’s just so— happy! He wants to show how proud he is to be yours! Unfortunately, that would do more harm for all of Hell. Selfish as his wants might be, he wouldn’t do that. Especially if it meant putting you in danger
• Occasionally he takes you to meetings and events. You try and slip into the background, supporting him from the shadows. Even from the other side of the room, Lucifer’s eyes will find you standing amongst the other Imps. He accidentally ends up ignoring whoever’s trying to rub elbows with the King of Hell
• (Honestly, it’s a miracle no one has found you two out yet. His longing gazes are far from subtle)
• Sometimes those outings don’t end well. A blue blooded dickbag might’ve dumped their drink on you or shoved you because you were “in the way” or berated you in front of everyone. Lucifer sees red and the entire event is cut short via a demonic rage. On a positive note, his publicity goes off the charts! “King of Hell defends his people, no matter the race!”
• (A motherfucking miracle, I tell you)
• Lucifer likes to take care of you when those incidents occur. He feels guilty. For everything. Reassuring him has always easy for you in any other situation. This one just bleeds into something personal. A failure
• So, you let him take care of you. It improves his mood bit by bit. Could be pancakes! No matter the time of day, Lucifer’s go-to are pancakes. (He’ll simply die all over again if you let him feed you too) Could be a bath for the two of you to share, he loves washing you and putting a bubble beard on your face
• Sleepovers can be a tad difficult to pull off but no one disturbs him in the mornings. He loves having you in his arms all night long. Kissing your horns, forehead, eyes, nose and lips— yes, in that order— before wishing you only the sweetest dreams
• Lucifer has a rubber duck that looks uncannily like you sitting on his desk at all times
• Oh! And despite being an Imp, you’re still taller than your beloved short king. It’s slight but he adores the difference
♡ a/n: if i had a nickel for every time a blue blood fell in love with an imp, i’d have /three nickels HAHAHA

Could you do Katie mccabe where Katie sees r always gets like picked on during matches and she's finally had enough so she tries to teach you to stand you to people but reader gets a red card cus it gets quite physical
shirt tugs II k.mccabe
you grunted as once more you went slamming down onto the pitch, your legs flying out from beneath you as your back thumped onto the grass and you took a moment to catch your breath, letting out a wheeze.
"you alright??" alessia hovered over you in concern as you nodded, holding a hand up that you just needed a moment as she stepped back to give you some space, both caitlin and stina doing the same.
"ah come on ref that's bullshit she took her fucken legs out!" you heard an all too familiar accent yell angrily as you slowly got back to your feet.
"katie it's not worth it, please! i'm okay, i promise." you assured, inserting yourself and pushing on your girlfriends chest to get her to back off with a pleading look.
she glowered at the ref behind you who was speaking with the number twenty who took you down, though no cards or penalties were awarded.
"mccabe! cool it, you're already on a yellow." kim warned seriously as she appeared by your side, katie puffing air out of her nose angrily but storming off as the whistle blew to signal the end of injury time and the first half.
"you okay? you're taking a flogging out there." jen slung an arm over her shoulder walking off the pitch with you as you sighed and nodded. "gonna have some bruises to show for my efforts tomorrow, that's for sure." you shook your head, shoving the taller girl who made a comment about katie kissing them better.
you sat through the half time talk listening intently, nodding along as you sipped at your water and forced a gel down with a wince, well aware of your girlfriends eyes burning into you.
"what?" you turned to her as jonas finished talking, a few more minutes remaining as he began to go over some new tactics with his intended subs. "why do you let them do that to ya?" she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
"oh yes i let them push me down babe, in fact i welcome it!" you rolled your eyes, going to stand as she slid in beside you and tugged you back down. "darlin i don't mean like that, but you never fight back or stand up for yourself, or argue to the ref!" she spoke a little more calmly now, concern clear in her eyes as you squeezed her knee in appreciation.
"there's no point wasting energy on that. if the ref doesn't call it as it happens chances are they won't anyway, no point in holding up game play for a silly argument." you smiled softly, melting katie a little but the concern didn't dissapear from her eyes.
"well the more you don't react the more they'll do it if they get away with it. cmon let me teach ya something. pelova! come here." katie called across the change rooms to the younger girl who appeared with a confused frown.
"right. so lets say i'm you, and vic here is the opposition whose just tackled ya!" katie stood and began to explain, giving the dutch girl a murderous look as she attempted to take her down.
"if the ref won't call it, you get back up to your feet, face your opponent and-" she suddenly lurched forward, grabbing the back of vic's top and forcefully pulling it up and over her head.
"see!" katie grinned clearly proud of her work as you shook your head, helping vic get herself free as she swore at your girlfriend in dutch, shoving her and storming off.
"are you trying to get me sent off?" you laughed, playfully knocking your boot into her shin pad. "nah just tryna make you smile, worked a charm!" she sat back down beside you, leaving a sloppy kiss on your cheek as you playfully punched her shoulder.
"but seriously baby, stand up for yourself. if they aren't being carded for a push or a shit tackle you're not gonna be carded for a few cheeky insults or a returned favour. i've seen ya angry i know it's there, and it's very hot." katie whispered the last part in your ear making you smile as the two of you stood, following the others back onto the grass.
as the half resumed once again any time you had the ball it seemed a pair of boots would fly at you, and time after time if it wasn't your ass thumping down onto the pitch it was your stomach, your uniform stained green and your patience very slowly thinning.
there seemed to be two repeat offenders, both defensive wingers you'd come across at national and club level, and given you'd scored the only goal of the game so far and watched them converse closely with the coach during the break, you figured it wasn't a coincidence you were being targeted.
alessia was too, the two of you seeming to spend more time on your assess than your feet this half, and you could feel the teams frustration that there had been no fouls given building.
with both teams now becoming increasingly pushy and aggressive, the referee very close to losing control of the game if she didn't start to at least pull out some more yellows.
and sure enough, that's exactly what happened.
once again you found yourself with a perfect cross in from wally making a beeline for the goal, dribbling around two players with easy and making a break for it. until suddenly someone slammed into you from behind, clipping your ankles and sending you practically into a forward flip as your head smacked against the ground.
the ringing in your ears was nothing compared to the uproar from the crowd and your team mates as a full on shoving match ensured between both teams in the middle of the pitch.
you watched on as you slowly sat up, the same number twenty from before sending you an amused smile as she began to walk away, and you couldn't quite tell what came over you but something did, and you'd finally had enough.
puffing air from your nostrils angrily you jumped to your feet, ignoring the mounting tension and pain in your neck, storming over to the twenty and shoving her in the back as she stumbled forward.
you noticed a few of your team mates attention switch to you at the out of character action, but you weren't done yet. the roars of the crowd thumping in your ears you leapt forward, grabbing the back of the girls shirt and pulling it over her head, pushing her forward so she fell back onto the pitch.
you felt hands grab at you from behind and turned around to swing, jen grabbing your hand in hers with a shocked look as you winced hearing a shrill whistle in your ear. and then suddenly, you really were seeing red, the card held high in the air as every ounce of anger deflated instantly from your body and you crumpled.
"mate what happened why did-" jen started to ask as you shook your head, cheeks burning with embarrassment as you tugged your hand away and began to walk off the pitch with your head hung low.
suddenly arms were slung around you again as you glanced up, your girlfriend on one side as alessia was on the other, it would appear it had been a triple booking.
the three of you entered the change rooms, alessia disappearing to shower as you sat down rubbing your temple, stretching your neck which was growing more sore as each time passed.
"well, i did sort of tell ya to do that." the irishwoman grinned, kicking off her boots and sitting back with a proud smile as you rolled your eyes, rubbing your neck, your girlfriend pushing your hands away and telling you to wait for the therapist.
"plus, once we get home i'll give ya a little special massage, as a congratulations for my girls very first red card."

Katy's one year celebration 🎉
Tumblr media
“So yeah, that's how I found out that my great aunt was a succubus—” you stop talking suddenly, blinking, eyes roaming around the walls of Hobie's mansion. The camera crew follows you as you look under the couch and even peek inside the grand piano. “Do you guys fucking hear that?”
The camera shakes its head. You look at it weirdly, “you could just say no, Jason, like a normal person—” you gasp, “there it is again!” You frantically move books from the bookshelves, making the crew dodge oncoming hardbounds. “Is this a prank? Am I getting punk’d right now?!” You scream, footsteps heavy as you trudge along the big living room, tossing and turning things around. “Hobie! Where the fuck did you put the speakers you mythical bloodsucking straw!”
You suddenly straighten up, finger scratching your ear, eyes turning from confusion to amusement. “Oh you fucking idiot!” You guffaw, palm slapping your knees in laughter. The crew look at each other, not knowing what to do when their subject turns cuckoo. “Okay, I'll—” you breathe for air, tears in your eyes as you laugh. “I'll save you, you big ancient baby.” Nodding, you roll your eyes, “fine, I'll be subtle. No explosions, yep…wait not even a little? I bought this new thing from amazon— yeah okay, bye! Close the fucking link I don't want you in my brain!”
Your shoulders sag, smiling at the befuddled camera crew. “Good news I'm not crazy! That was Hobie talking to me telepathically and he— you know what, I should just show you what he wants.” You beckon them over to the front door while you put on your jacket and take your keys. “It's called the mind gift,” based on the producer's eyes, you already know that she was about to ask you the question. “You get old enough, you start getting different abilities. Don't ask me how, that's just the way it is with vampires.”
The camera hard cuts to you driving in your new kia. In the corner of the shot you can see the camera man's hand gripping tightly around his seatbelt as you drive recklessly, like you just learned how to drive yesterday. Or you just knew what a car is.
“Relax,” you say, smiling sweetly at the camera even though you pass a red light. “No one's even on the road this late at night. So calm down.”
Hobie's voice once again appears in your mind, ‘hurry up, love, I think this chihuahua next to my cage wants me. And it's not the hunger type of want.’ You snort at his comment. ‘Please? I'll make it worth your while.’ he says with flirty undertones, making you roll your eyes, cheeks warm.
The camera visibly shakes. The mic picks up a faint ‘I’m gonna die.’ The crew following behind you with their own van can barely keep up with you. They pity Jason right now.
“Okay, listen.” You start, the car is zooming past the road beyond the speed limit. “Hobie wanted to hunt some poor rich sap but,” there's rapid honking around you, “something happened, he wouldn't tell me exactly what, so he had to get out quickly and turn into his vampire form. Now animal control caught him at the park because he was too hungry to return to his form.” The car suddenly screeches to a halt, making Jason the camera man almost fly off his seat.
You park your car at an animal control center, the camera zooms in your determined face. “Operation: save my idiot vampire roommate has begun.” Your head quickly swivels towards Jason who seems like all the colour on his face has gone. “Don't fuck this up for us, Jason.” You point at his still chest.
You exit your car with the slam of the door. The rest of the crew follow closely behind you as you enter the animal control center with an uncanny smile that has the front desk worker perturbed.
“Hi, this might sound weird—”
“What's up with the camera crew, lady?” The man asks, blinking away the bright lights, weirded out by the whole situation.
“Oh, we're making a documentary.”
“About what?” The man brightens up, subtly fixing his hair with his hand.
“Uh…” you look at the crew for answers, they're not helping with their empty looks. “...About bats, yeah, bats. We're from national geographic actually.” You hear Hobie in your head ‘national geographic? Really, love? You don't look like the Steve Irwin type. Although, you'd look good in some khaki shorts.’ Blinking him away, you continue to convince the man. “And one of our bats escaped from their enclosure. You see that man over there?” Raising your finger to point at Jason, you accuse him as he stands there awkwardly. “His name is Hobie,” Hobie's laughter in your mind echoes. “And he's an idiot y’know, he's a nephew of our director so we just had to take him in. You get me?”
The man in the front desk nods, judging ‘Hobie.’ “Yeah, I know the type.” He whispers to you. “We have someone like him here too.”
You nod in understanding. “They're not the brightest, right?” Hobie's cackling laughter buries deep in your mind, almost making you laugh too. ‘you're making me have it, huh?’ Jason frowns at you while he zooms in your apologetic face.
Tapping the desk, you smile at the man again. “So! Our bat, please?”
“I'd ask for papers like usual but I'm too lazy.” Now it's you judging the man. “If you can get him from the back yourself without getting rabies then you're free to take him.”
“Yeah, okay.” You shrug, and you hear Hobie breathe a sigh of relief. Opening the doors, you're greeted by a dozen small animals, all angrily calling out to you. “Wow, this reminds me of my cousin's room!”
Your eyes roam over the cages, looking for a familiar bat. The producer points at a bat on your right, she has her hand on the lock but you stop her midway. “That's clearly not him. Good try though.” The bat squeaks, lunging at the cage, almost biting the producer's hand.
Hobie's voice calls out to you, then you see a black bat with large wings rattle its cage. That's Hobie alright. “Aww,” you tease, “is it just me or you look extra adorable right now?”
‘Open the bloody door!’ Hobie telepathically screams at you, continuing to rattle at his cage. Squeaking angrily. You guess that he's starving now that he has tossed being sweet.
“In a minute.” You say, pulling out your phone to take numerous pictures of him. There's selfies of you with the angry bat, and even a group picture of the crew and bat Hobie. With one final click of the camera, you finally open the cage.
Hobie comes flying off towards your face, clinging to you, claws holding on to you and his tiny bat body covering your entire head. ‘Thank you, lovie.’ He says in your mind, his tiny fanged face nuzzling you sweetly. The camera crew takes numerous angles of the whole ordeal. ‘Take me home, ‘m hungry.’
“Will you let go of my face first?” Your voice is muffled by his fuzzy bat body.
‘nah, you're too comfortable.’
“No blood for you then.” You warn, and it works as he reluctantly moves over to your shoulders instead. ‘Fine,’ he grumbles, squeaking disappointedly.
Waving goodbye to the front desk who again stares at you all confused, you have successfully rescued your idiot vampire roommate. Placing him on your passenger seat, he shakes his head when you coax him into turning back to his form.
Jason records from the backseat, eyes flicking from you and the agitated bat. He knows exactly what's about to happen.
“What am I supposed to do? Let you drink from me again?”
There's a bout of silence, and then Hobie the bat nods his tiny head.
With a huff, you give him your hand to bite into. “One sip, Hobie, enough to turn you human.” He nods, mouth opening to take a bite. You look over your shoulder towards the camera. “Cut the fucking camera, Jason.”
Hobie sinks his teeth into you just as the camera shuts off. But not the mic though.

“What do you think of Peace?” You ask, propped up in bed, hand over your swollen stomach. You’ve gained more weight this time, probably because you’re not in the throes of grief.
“I mean, I’m a fan. I hope everyone is.” Joel says, trimming his facial hair with the bathroom door wide open.
You bite your lip, admiring the expanse of his bare back. If getting out of bed wasn’t an event, you would be behind him right now, kissing his shoulders.
“No, as a name for a girl,” you say. Joel turns around looking at you like he’s contemplating checking you into a psychiatric ward if those still existed. “A middle name, not a first name.”
Joel sets his trimmers down, leaning in the doorway shirtless. “And what would her first name be?”
“Willow.”
Joel furrows his brow stepping into your bedroom, your shared bedroom. “Darlin, I know we live in a commune, but we’re not hippies.”
“You bring me wildflowers and we walk barefoot through the fields. I wouldn’t be so sure.” You can’t help but laugh. Joel cracks a smile. “Do you have suggestions then?”
“Thought about naming Sarah- Katherine.”
You make a face. You know one too many Kates and Katies even in Jackson.
“It’s not a bad name,” Joel chuckles.
“Neither is Willow.”
“Is this your way of telling me you’re a hippie?”
“Would you leave if I said yes?”
Joel shrugs “I don’t know, but I knocked you up so I guess I have to stay.” He crawls into the bed. His head is level with your stomach as he watches for movement.
You roll your eyes. “How romantic.”
He grins up at you and then his eyes are back on your belly. He rests a hand at the top, staring, waiting in wonderment. Neither of you can believe this is all real. Your baby moves around all the time, kicking your bladder and lungs, signifying life. A life you did not think would make it.
You thread your fingers through Joel’s soft brown hair. The outline of a foot appears and then disappears. Joel’s eyes sparkle and he kisses the same spot. He’s soft and gentle. In these moments, all your anxieties are carried away like leaves on an autumn breeze. This is your peace.
“What other names did you have picked out for Carter?”
You bite your lip. “We didn’t have any other boys' names.”
“And if he’d been a girl?” He’s still enthralled with your stomach as if there’s been an enchantment cast over it.
“Sarah.”
His head snaps up.
“Tommy and I talked about her a lot when I was pregnant. She was on my mind… being a part of Sarah’s life made me realize I wanted a family… even in this world where I had no right to do so.”
You keep playing with his hair. His eyes go glassy making you wonder what memory is playing behind his eyes. You stay like that until Joel is ready to talk. Eventually, he sits up, clearing his throat. His lips touch yours.
“What about Willa?”
You tilt your head to the side. You don’t really see how it’s any different than Willow, but you’re not going to bring that up. “I like it.”
“And Miles for a boy.” His smile returns. He doesn’t tell you that he’s positive you’re having a girl.
“Miles is an old man's name!”
“Good, then he’ll grow to be an old man.”
You take in a sharp breath. It’s just an offhand comment, but it carries so much weight. It’s a stark reminder of the heaviness of the world, and the twinge of guilt you feel bringing another child into it.
Joel takes your hand, kissing your palm. You see it in his eyes too. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’tve-”
“It’s okay.” Your fingers comb through his hair. He leans into your touch. His grays are more noticeable than they were a year ago, but the brown still outnumbers them.
“Do you think it’s a boy or a girl?” he asks.
“I don’t know… I- I haven’t really let myself think about it until today.” It's true. The fact of the matter is you’re within a month of your due date. You and Joel are so close to welcoming this baby into the world and are wildly unprepared.
“We’re getting close… We need a crib.”
“The one I used for Carter is in the attic.”
“I can bring it down in the morning.”
“I need to get some baby clothes. I traded all of Carter’s.”
“Looks like we have a bunch of work to do, Mama,” Joel smiles, kissing your forehead. He still hasn't told you about the swaddles and onesies tucked in the back of his drawer, but it seems you’re finally ready for them.
You cock your head to the side, contemplating the nickname. There’s a mix of emotions with it. You’re already a mother. Joel is a father, but this is a life you’re bringing in together. It’s uncharted territory for both of you. Sarah’s mom was out the door before she was six months old. Neither of you have done this part with a partner before.
A sharp knock on the front door pulls your mind from its wandering. Joel’s brow furrows, rolling out of the bed. People don’t knock on your door often. They usually barrel right in, unless it’s bad. Your stomach drops.
Joel is out of the bedroom, shrugging on a shirt. Dina’s voice calls through your home. “Hello?” She sounds worried, desperate.
You swing your legs over the side of the bed. It takes more time to stand these days. If you try too quickly, your head rushes making you feel dizzy.
“Dina? What’s wrong?” Joel’s at the bottom of the stairs now, but his voice carries. You have to stop at the top of the stairs to catch your breath.
“Ellie is gone.”
You freeze, grabbing the railing for stability. “What?”
Joel turns around, worry etched in his face. “Where did she go?”
“I don’t know. She mentioned something about the Fireflies and a hospital, but she wouldn’t talk to me.” You make out the flicker of hurt in Dina’s face. Those two tell each other everything, or most things. You’re not sure Ellie has told her about her immunity. You all keep that one pretty close to your chests.
“Shit,” Joel mumbles. He glances between you at his back and the front door in front of him. You see the push and pull. He needs to go after her. He needs to be here for you.
His eyes settle on you. Your hand settles on top of your swollen belly. He’s looking for permission. You want to give it, but what if he’s needed here before he gets back.
“She’s been off lately. I don’t know why. She won’t talk to me.” Dina seems to sense the silent conversation going on. “I can go after her, but-“
“No, I need to go.” Joel swings back toward the teenager, both hands placed on his hips. You try to bite back the panic rising inside you. He’ll be fine. They’ll both be fine. “Do you know when she left?”
“Probably sometime before the sun came up. Shimmer isn’t in the stable.”
Joel lets out a ragged sigh, hands running over his face. You try to keep the tears away, your hormones making it difficult.
“Will you let Maria know I’m going after her? I need to pack.”
Dina nods, her eyes flickering up to you before she’s gone in a flash of dark curls. Joel turns around, hand resting on the banister at the bottom of the stairs. You swallow and walk back into the bedroom.
It’s silent at first, nothing but the sounds of draws opening and closing and the soft slaps of his leather saddle bags. You sit in silence at the edge of your bed, chewing on your lip as you watch him. Ellie needs him. It echoes on repeat in your brain.
“I can probably catch her. We’ll be back in two weeks if I don’t.”
You stare down at your ever growing belly. You could easily be pregnant when he returns, but what if you’re not? You’re fairly certain you’ll have this baby sooner rather than later, but Ellie needs him too.
“Why does she want to go back to Salt Lake?”
Joel freezes for a second, like he’s contemplating his answer. It sets an uneasy feeling in your bones. “I don’t know. Maybe she thinks some of the Fireflies are still there? That this whole cure business is still an option?”
You nod, thoughts drifting to her face when you looked at her blood a couple months ago. She looked desperate. You hadn’t seen her like that before. It was almost unnerving, like the need to be needed by humanity had returned tenfold. It made you wonder if you’d been there for her enough these past few months.
“I have to go after her.”
There’s a desperation you don’t quite recognize in Joel’s eyes, sending a thread of dread through your body. Is he leaving something out? Not telling you something? You nod, biting your lip. “I know.”
He lays his hand on your bump, fingers stretching out over it. “We’ve got time.”
You nod. “Hurry back, and be safe, okay?”
Joel kisses your forehead. “Always.”
He rides out thirty minutes later.
You try to stay busy while they’re gone, cleaning the clinic and the house thrice over as the nesting and anxiety sets in. You ask Tommy to get the crib out of the attic as you prep the corner of your bedroom for the baby, wiping it free from the dust and cobwebs.
Maria hosts a small get together for you pulling together some semblance of a baby shower, something you hadn’t had with Carter. It's nice, but you feel like they skirt around the questions nagging in their brains. Where did Ellie and Joel go? Will they be back in time? You don’t have answers. You have the same fucking question. Will they be back?
The braxton hicks kick up, so much so you think you’re in labor ten days after Joel rides out. The fear that courses through your body is so paralyzing that you just lay in bed. Your body tenses with the memory’s of Carter’s labor. It’s not the physical pain of it, but the emotional rollercoaster you went through, alone. You’re not supposed to do this alone this time.
Then, the contractions stop with no explanation and you fall into a restless sleep. You miss Joel, his warmth and comfort. His unspoken love that fills the room. You’re becoming more comfortable with the idea of it.
You miss Ellie too, worried about what she’s going through. Providing it’s still vacant, Salt Lake won’t hold any answer for her. What lengths will she go to? How many miles will she travel in search of answers you believe don’t exist? How will she handle reality?
You see the differences in Carter too. In his mind, Ellie and Joel have always been here. Two weeks without them feels like a lifetime to him, and to you.
On day twelve, your front door flies open as you come down the stairs. Ellie bursts through looking frantic and frazzled. Her short cropped hair sticks up in certain places. Dirt smudges her forehead. You’re too relieved to see her to worry about her appearance. If anything, it’s expected after two weeks of travel, but your relief is short lived.
“Did you know?” She yells. The door stays wide open behind her, rage flaming in her eyes.
“What?”
“Did you know?”
“Know what?” You step toward her, reaching out, but she backs away like a wild animal.
“He killed them! All of them!”
“Killed who? Ellie, take a deep breath.”
“Joel! He killed the fireflies! They had a cure!”
Your breath catches. It’s not that Joel has killed people. You know about the years he spent as a raider. You know the cost of surviving in this world, but this isn’t the story you have been told about Salt Lake. When you asked him why she would go back, he lied. He knew. Knew the story hadn’t lined up in Ellie’s mind.
“So he lied to you too!”
“Ellie!” Joel is stern as his frame fills your doorway.
She spins around, the week of silence she spent next to him on the road back, wrath bubbling over and focused on him. “Tell her! Tell her, Joel!” She steps toward him. “Tell her what you did!” She shoves against his shoulders.
“Ellie…” He repeats her name, softer this time.
“Don’t do that!” She turns back to you, tears streaming down her cheeks. “They were going to make a cure from me, and you stopped them! You slaughtered them!”
“They were going to kill you!”
Your eyes widen, and it makes sense. Why Joel hasn’t talked about it. Why he needed to go after her. Why Ellie feels so useless. She’d been promised the cure. He’d taken that from her with a facade of an excuse.
“You should have let them!” Ellie screams until she pushes past him, rushing out of your house.
Joel lets out a sigh, defeat evident across his features. You can’t even enjoy their homecoming, their safety, your head spinning too much.
Joel shuts the door behind him, stepping closer like he’s expecting an embrace, but you step back, a mother’s anger building in your bones. He looks surprised. “Sweetheart…”
“You lied to her.”
“I protected her.” Joel’s eyes narrow. He’s tired and irritable. Neither of you expected a fight to ensue the moment he got home. “And I wouldn’t change a thing.”
“You’ve watched her struggle with this for years!”
“They were going to kill her!”
“Have you listened to anything she’s said?”
You almost don’t recognize the Joel in front of you. He looks like a shell of the assured, warm man you know. You wonder if this is the version of Joel Tommy used to speak of. The one Joel has told you about during those late night chats when you spilled the depths of yourselves to each other, or you thought you had. The one who floated through his days, barely living.
“I couldn’t lose her!”
“Except you did!”
Joel straightens, shoulders setting in denial. “She’s alive! That’s what matters.”
“You’re missing the point!”
“You’re saying I should have let them go ahead with it! Let them cut open her head for a cure you don’t believe is possible!”
Fire blazes in Joel's eyes. You see it. There’s no rationalizing with him about this. In his eyes, there were no choices to be made. He did the only thing. It doesn’t matter what else he has to sacrifice, she’s alive and that’s all that matters. “That’s not-”
He scoffs, cutting you off. You see the pain and hurt ripple through his body, causing him to step back from you. “Sure sounds like it.”
“Joel!”
“Don’t.” He yanks the front door open. “I can’t be here right now.”
He disappears across the threshold in the blink of an eye leaving you with a mountain to process and a growing tension across your stomach.
Joel knows he’s in the wrong. He knows he shouldn’t have lied to Ellie, held the truth from you. He’s a grown man, of course he knows what’s right and wrong, but that admittance doesn’t do anything to calm him. He needs to get out. Out of the house. Out of the walls into the open. It doesn’t matter that he just came from two weeks out there.
He sneaks over the wall with more ease than he should be able. Instantly, he feels the tightening in his chest begin to ease. He paces the outside of the wall like a caged animal, the series of events reeling through his mind. He doesn’t realize how much he’s been pushing it back since they left Salt Lake. Her words, her pleas, over and over. She’d given him every opportunity to tell her the truth and he kept the lie going.
There was no cure. The words he’d utter to her after they found that couple, one dead the other infected while out on patrol.
He’d almost told her, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t lose her. Couldn’t risk it.
His pacing becomes more frantic as he remembers the fear he felt at the thought of losing Ellie, the fear that pushed him into wiping away every firefly that crossed his path. The same fear that put lies in his mouth before he had time to think, that kept him from telling her the truth. He knew this would happen one day, but hadn’t been enough. He’d kept it from everyone, including you.
Tell me, she had pleaded with him, begged him and he still felt the pull to replace his lie with another.
She’d had to poke and prod to get the words from his mouth. Had to threaten to leave before she got the truth. That hurt almost as much as the fallout. Everyone thought he was a better man than he actually was. Ellie, you, himself, but when it came down to it. He failed that test. Good men don’t make someone threaten to leave to get the truth.
I’ll go back, but we’re done.
Joel wears a path in the fresh grass beneath his feet, letting the spring chill take over when the sun sets, leaving him in darkness. Ellie had kept her word. He’d never heard her stay quiet for so long. The loss had begun to settle in with her riding next to him.
Joel’s muscles ache from two weeks out on the road. He misses you and Carter. He hasn’t even touched you yet. Will you let him?
Getting over the wall from the outside proves more difficult than it had the first time. Which is a good thing, but had Joel feeling every one of his 59 years. Embarrassment creeps over his cheeks with each step toward your home. The one he shares with you, but he feels like a guest as he climbs the steps. He doesn’t catch a glimpse of you or Carter or anyone else through the windows.
The house is silent when he enters, no signs of life except for the faint buzzing of light bulbs. His brow furrows. You wouldn’t have left the lights on if you weren’t home. Then a faint sound comes from upstairs, movement at the very least. He follows it, placing his hand on the closed bedroom door before cracking it open.
Soft groans come from behind the cracked bathroom door followed by a whispered curse. Maria's voice follows. Joel’s throat drops into his stomach. His boots echo off the wood floor as he crosses the room. “Sweetheart?” he calls, staying on his side of the door. “Is everything alright?”
“Joel? Get in here,” you groan out.
It sends some reassurance through him to hear you so clearly before he swings the door open. His eyes go wide at the sight of you in the tub, sweat staining your skin as Maria kneels next to you. “Shit, are you?”
“Make yourself useful and hold my hand.”
He nods, kneeling beside you. Maria stands, grabbing a few instruments from the bathroom sink, she gives Joel a look that lets him know you’re near the end of labor. Your baby will be here in minutes. It sends a rush through him. “I’m sorry, Darlin.”
You grab onto his hand tightly. It’s wet from the bathwater sloshing around you as you fight to get comfortable. It’s a useless pursuit, but it doesn’t keep you from trying. “Can we do the apologizing later? I’m kinda busy at the moment.”
“Yes,” Joel takes a deep breath, his heart pounding in his ears. He squares his shoulders next to you, giving an air of assurance you know he doesn’t have. “I’m here for whatever you need.”
“I think you missed most of it.”
“Not that you’ve had much to miss,” Maria says, stern. She pissed at him, which is more than fair given everything. You’d had some time to explain what happened. “We tried to find you. Her labor progressed pretty quick.”
“Speaking of which-” You let out a gasp, face twisting in pain. “I think the baby is crowning.”
“She must be in a hurry,” Joel says.
“She?”
“Just a hunch.” Joel smiles, kissing your head.
For the next few minutes, the rest of the world doesn’t exist. Your fight never happened because there’s only one thing on your minds, bringing your baby into the world. The world goes silent again, but not in a bad way. A way that makes you feel at peace, Joel’s warm hand in yours. It doesn’t take long until she announces her arrival with a fiery scream once Maria pulls her out of the water.
You hold her close, tears of relief gathering in your eyes. Joel leans in, his forehead pressed to your temple, arms wrapping around you and your daughter as she pulls air into her lungs.
“You did great, Sweetheart.” He whispers into your hair as he kisses your cheek, cupping your daughter’s head. “She’s beautiful.”
Your eyes flicker between him and your newborn. It’s the moment you’ve been envisioning for months, the one you thought you’d get with Gabe when Carter was born. A little piece of you mends. Your child soothes against your skin.
After you’re both cleaned up, Joel helps you into bed, then settles beside you. She sleeps in your arms, tiny fist clenched around one of Joel’s fingers still curled up in your softest bath towel. You brush her cheek softly.
“I believe we decided on Willa Peace?”
“Did we?” You tilt your head to the side, a grin verging on your lips. “I thought we weren’t hippies.”
Joel shrugs, tracing your shoulders. “I had a lot of time to think about it the past couple of weeks.”
“Joel…”
Dirt still traces over his face. He hasn’t had time to clean off since he got back. You catch the faint smell of sweat on his clothes and skin. “I know.”
“I would have done the same thing to save her. You know what I think about cures.” You keep your gaze on your child. It only reminds you what you brought her into. “You lied to her over and over when she needed the truth.”
“I was trying to protect her.”
“I wish you would’ve told me.”
“I know.”
“This only works if we’re open with each other.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I know you are.” You bite your lip. “I’m going to need some time with this one.”
Joel nods, arm wrapping around you. “I know.”
You lean into him, enjoying the quietness that surrounds the three of you.
“Willa Peace Miller,” You smile. “Has a nice ring to it.”
“Yeah.” Joel hums beside you. “Can’t believe she’s actually here.”
“And we’re both okay.”
He nods, and neither of you can tear your eyes away from the precious little being in your arms. You hang on every rise and fall of her chest, everything micro movements, the soft flutter of her eyes that never quite open. It all feels so fragile, so sacred.
You remember similar moments with Carter. When the grief and the world got too loud, you would lay on the floor or bed with him on your chest asleep. The weight of his small body was a tether that kept you from flying away.
Even in this moment, as your heart inexplicitly expands, you feel that thread of fear winding itself through your body. Another person to love and protect. Another person to keep from the jaws of the world. Another person you can’t bear to lose.
“You know,” you say, pulling Joel’s attention. “If you were ever gonna pull those baby clothes and blankets out of your drawer, now would be the time.”
His brow furrows and then eases with realization. “How long have you known they were there?”
You let out a soft chuckle. “I washed them the next time you went out on patrol. I wasn’t going to leave those filthy things in your drawer.”
“You were going through my things, I see.”
“Next time don’t try to hide something in your drawer from the person who washes your clothes.”
Joel laughs, easing out of the bed to fetch the items from the drawer. “Got it, I’ll be sneakier next time.”
“Can you get the onesie with the yellow flowers?” You bite back a smile. He doesn’t know how you often pulled the drawer open and just gazed upon the items. It helped you visualize it all even when the fear threatened to take over. Another child, and here she was. You’d been most drawn to the little yellow flowers.
Joel laughs, grabbing the onsie and the swaddle with little yellow flowers to match. You’re gentle with her as you work the small article of clothing over her tiny body. It’s a bit baggy, but you can’t complain. It just means she can wear it for longer. She sleeps through all the jostling as if she’s fully absorbed her middle name.
She’s settled back into your arms when a soft tap echoes on your door. “Mommy?” Carter’s voice comes through muffled.
“You can come in.”
The door flies open as your son bursts through the door, grin spread wide on his face. Ellie stands behind him, looking like the space might envelope her.
 “Aunt Maria said I have a baby sister.”
“You want to meet her?” you ask.
Carter nods eagerly, dashing toward your bed. Joel catches him before he can jump onto the bed beside you and potentially on you.
“Daddy!” Carter’s eyes go wide. He hasn’t seen Joel in almost two weeks.
Joel laughs, arms tightening around the boy. “Hey, bud.”
Your eyes meet Ellie’s. Her eyes are red, bags deep underneath. You motion her next to you. She hesitates before sliding onto the bed beside you. She’s timid, keeping to the edge, eyes flicking over you and Willa.
“You can get closer.”
“I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I never got to hug you earlier.”
She looks down, eyes scanning over your comforter like she’s reliving her homecoming. Once she’s close enough, your arm slips around her shoulders, tugging her close. She nuzzles into your side like a child seeking comfort. “You’re alright?” she asks.
“Yeah… we both are.” You say, kissing the top of her head. “I’m sorry.”
“You didn’t do anything.”
“But I’m still sorry you’re going through this.”
Ellie seems to sink into your further, eyes pinned to Willa. She doesn’t answer you. She doesn’t look at Joel as he sinks next to you with Carter, but you feel her tense when he does.
“What’s her name?” Ellie asks.
“Willa,” you reply.
“Baby Willa.” Carter grins proudly.
And the five of you sit there together in silence. You try to push it out of your head that it’s the last time you all might be together for a while. Even now, you feel the underlying anger rolling through Ellie’s body. This is a wound that’s been festering. It’s going to take time to heal.
Eventually, Ellie slips from your side without a word to leave. She’s barely out the door when Joel goes after her.
“Ellie,” Joel says, catching her on the front porch.
Her head whips around, expression set in stone. “I’m here for them, not you.” She keeps her voice low to not be overheard by nosy neighbors. “They’re my family. Do you understand?”
Joel’s apology catches in his throat. He’s been apologizing the whole way back from Salt Lake. He knows there’s nothing he can say to rush this process. He made a decision, and these are his consequences. “Yeah… I got it.”
“Good.”
She doesn’t give him a chance to say anything else.
The bed is empty next to you, the sheets cool to the touch. Your eyes blink open. Cool moonlight shines through the window. You glance at the bathroom door. No light shines through the crease. Joel’s name is on your lips, interrupted by his voice.
“Do you like the butterflies?”
You turn to your side. Joel sits next to the crib, talking to Willa. She’s awake, moonlight reflecting off her big eyes. She’s content and still.
“Your big sister liked butterflies. When they come out in the summertime, I feel her around me.”
She stares at Joel, mesmerized by his voice. Your eyes float upward to the mobile Joel made. He hadn’t explained it to you, but you already knew. Sarah had pinned them all throughout their Austin home. You keep one stuck to the window above the kitchen sink. There’s one tucked in his nightstand drawer.
“I think she sent you to me.” He lets it sit there, contemplating the weight and depth of what he said. “I think she sent you to me, your momma, Ellie, I suppose she’s your big sister too, Carter. All of you.
“Her name was Sarah. She would have loved you.” He chuckles. “She used to ask me for a baby brother or sister. I didn’t know your momma yet… Well, I guess I did, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.”
You stifle a laugh unsuccessfully. Joel’s eyes lock on yours. He smiles, shooting you a wink. He looks younger under the moonlight, more at ease. The creases in his skin are less apparent.
“Your momma, she’s quite a bit younger than me.” The smile stays pinned to his face. “It’s not so creepy now- least that’s what she tells me- but it would’ve been then, and I was a decent fella back before the world went to shit. Besides, between you and me.” He leans closer to Willa’s ear, but his eyes are still on you. “Your momma had a pretty big crush on me back then.”
You groan, heat flushing your cheeks. It shouldn’t be embarrassing, but it is. You chuck his pillow at him. Joel catches it, laughing. It’s the kind that sits deep in one’s chest and bubbles up with the purest kind of joy. You can’t help but smile.
He slowly stands, grunting as he does. You hear the familiar pop of his joints. He leans into the crib. You notice Willa’s eyes have fallen shut. “I love you, my little wildflower.” He kisses her cheek before falling back into bed next to you.
His arm wraps around your waist. Pulling you close, he steals a kiss on your forehead. “I’m getting too old to sit on the floor like that.”
“You’re getting too old to have a newborn, yet here we are.” Your fingers run through his hair.
“Still can’t believe she’s here… you’re both healthy.”
“Neither can I.” You glance back at the crib. She’s just a few days old and already, you can’t imagine life without her.
Tears well at the corner of your eyes. Your heart has grown so much. You thought you couldn’t open it to more people, yet here you are. The you of 4 years ago would be too terrified of losing this life to give it a chance, the price of pain too high. Yet here you are, embracing it, taking that risk, because this is living, and the love and belonging far outweigh the potential for pain even as it grows with every passing day. You fell into the trap,and it’s a crowded one, but it’s a happy one.
Joel kisses your cheek. “You should get some sleep before she wakes up hungry.”
“Mmm,” you hum as his hands move soothingly over your back. “Someone not named Willa woke me up.”
Joel chuckles. “I’m sorry, Sweetheart.”
But even now you feel your eyelids getting heavier.
“Did you mean what you said?”
“About?”
You let your eyes fall shut as Joel massages out a knot in your back. You lean into it. “About Sarah sending us to you.”
“I did.” He kisses your forehead.

❛ FRAT PARTIES & THAT ONE EX ❜
🏹 the drink you spilt all over me, “lover's spit" left on repeat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
paring ; fem!reader x luke hughes
summary ; after the win against michigan state, a huge party was thrown at one of the frats. while there, remi just so happened to run into an old flame of hers. obviously they hit it off, she just didn’t seem to remember he was her husband.
author’s note ; (this takes place last year in october) once again this is getting written at night. anyways can we talk about how cute fine asf 😫🥵 luke looks in the photo above. so cute 🥰. anyways continue sending in stuff about these two that i wanna talk about them. i feel like getting ear plugs rn to block out my brothers snoring. i have to share a room with him while i’m home for thanksgiving.
Tumblr media
the room felt humid. well, of course it did. there must be over a hundred people in the house, maybe even more. umich football had just beat michigan state with a score of 29-7. the evening of, a party was thrown in celebration.
remi stood off to the side with some of her friends from the cheer team and some of her sorority sisters. although she was somewhat exhausted from all the shouting and stunts she had done earlier, she still went to the party. it was expected of her to be there as she‘s a part of the cheer team for umich.
she never really understood why she came to these things. she would much rather be in her bed, the blankets over her body as she binged watched christmas movies while eating ice cream. yet she was here. remi had this gut instinct saying she should be here, she needed to be here.
“remi, how come you don’t have a man?” katie, a friend of hers from cheer, asked.
remi shrugged, “i mean none of them seem to be the one, you know. every guy i’ve been with, all they want to do is fuck.”
“well, don’t you know?” eve, a sorority sister of remi’s, said. “i could treat you way better.” she said as she wrapped an arm around remi who chuckled as did everyone else.
remi gave her a kiss on the cheek. “i’m sure you can. i’m sure you all can but i dont swing that way.”
“such a shame. you’re hot as fuck.” vicky said. “i’d hit.”
remi playfully rolled her eyes. “i’m sure you would.” she looked behind vicky. “but maybe you should let someone else hit that sweet ass of yours.”
“who?” vicky said as she rose an eyebrow at remi.
remi pointed behind vicky and the group of girls looked to where remi was pointing to see a boy who was leaned up against a counter, staring at vicky.
vicky smiled at him and he turned away towards his friends. “he’s cute.” everyone hummed in agreement.
“yeah, he is.” remi smiled at vicky who had turned to face everyone. “now go.” remi told vicky who shrugged and began to walk over towards the boy.
they watched as the two began to talk.
“well, aren’t you quite the matchmaker?” katie said in a teasing tone. “maybe we should play matchmaker on you.”
remi grimaced . “yeah, no thanks. for all i know, you would put me on with McCarthy.” remi knew how flirtatious JJ could get but he just wasn’t her type.
“worth a shot.”
remi smiled and shook her head. “i am going to go get a drink. outside.” the girls gave her a nod and remi turned around to walk towards the sliding door which led outside. she made her way through the crowd of sweaty dancing bodies, and into the backyard of the frat house. she took note of how there were more people outside than inside despite it being bigger inside.
she made her way down the steps of the patio, red solo cup in hand as she made her way to the keg. some random guy had shown up with multiple kegs on behalf of the fraternity.
remi made her way to where she saw one available and just as she was about to grab the tap, someone else had gotten to it.
“oh.” remi let out surprised as she came to halt and waited for the guy to be down with it. she stood there awkwardly and patiently as she watched the guy pour beer into his cup.
he looked up to see remi standing there, looking anywhere but at him. she turned to look at him and smiled before looking back at the crowd in which was filled with blue and maize clothing. “oh, i’m sorry. were you gonna grab some?”
remi turned back to him and nodded, “yeah, but it’s fine. go ahead.” she dismissed.
“oh, no, go right ahead. i’m sorry i didn’t notice you earlier, i would let you gone first.” he explained.
“are you sure? i’m fine waiting.” he nodded. remi smiled at him before grabbing the tap out of his hand and pouring herself a drink.
once she was done she handed it back to him. “thank you…” she dragged off waiting for a name.
“luke.”
“thank you luke.” remi turned around and began to walk back inside to meet up with her friends again.
luke stood there with a smile on his face before snapping out of his trance, realizing remi had left and began to walk away. “wait!” he yelled over the extremely loud music as he began to jog to catch up with her.
remi looked next to her to see luke standing there. “yes?” she looked up at him. holy shit, he’s tall.
“i never got you’re name.” luke told her as he let out small breaths trying to get it back after his small jog.
remi pursed her lips before smiling. “you’ve got to earn it.” she said and began to walk up the steps to the patio as she drank from her cup.
luke walked next to her. “oh, come on. i told you my name. the least you could do is tell me yours.”
remi bit her lip slightly. “we’ll see.” she grabbed his hand and began to drag him inside. “for now, however, you’re gonna play a round of beer pong with me.”
luke grinned as he let her drag him inside towards the kitchen.
Tumblr media
luke and remi were drunk. maybe a little too drunk.
the pair had won at beer pong and remi declared luke as her new partner for the game. after one round, the two had left the table and made their way towards the couch where they happened to spend hours on, talking.
luke had found out that remi was in her sophomore year and was majoring in health and medicine. he also seemed to find out that she was in Alpha Phi. although the team was close to most of the girls from Aphi, he never happened to see remi. remi told him how she was a part of the cheer team and how she has loved doing cheer ever since her junior year of high school.
remi got to know luke better. she found out he was in sophmore year as well and has the intention of majoring in sports management. he told remi how he played for the school’s hockey team as a defenseman. he wore number 43 so if remi were to ever go to a game of his, she would be able to spot him.
the two were too engrossed in their conversation that they lost track of time.
luke was in the middle of telling remi a story from when he was a kid. remi couldn’t seem to stop laughing. luke enjoyed hearing her laugh as he laughed himself.
“wait-wait, so you’re telling me that your brother ripped off his braces.” remi began to laugh again, “omg that must’ve been funny.”
luke nodded. “oh trust me, it was. he got a lecture from our mom.”
remi chuckled. “you’re have very interesting brothers, you know that.”
“i’m well aware.” he told her as the two smiled.
“what about you?” luke asked remi.
remi was confused “what about me?”
“you don’t have any funny, weird story from when you were a kid?” luke wondered.
remi thought. of course there was. she just didn’t know what to say. “i mean i broke my arm.”
luke raised his eyebrows. “must’ve been a fun trip to the hospital.”
“yes it very much was. the EMT was hot.”
luke chuckled. “you had a crush on the EMT?” remi nodded. “how cute.” luke smiled.
“you’re cute.” remi said as her hand rested on the cushion.
luke grinned. “i know.”
remi scoffed and grabbed the pillow next to her, hit luke in the chest with it. “you weren’t supposed to agree.”
“but it’s the truth and i know it is.” luke replied.
remi rolled her eyes playfully. the two sat there in silence for a second. remi took the moment in. she enjoyed having luke around. although she knew after tonight she might not see him.
“hey, i was wondering-”
“oh there you are!” the two turned towards the voice. vicky stood there with her eyes wide. “oh i’m sorry for interrupting whatever,” she motioned between the two, “this is.”
“it’s fine. what’s wrong?” remi asked.
“we got to go.” vicky said.
remi grabbed her phone and saw the time. 12:32. “oh shit. um, ok. luke it was talking to you but i really have to go.” remi told him as she got up and made her way towards vicky.
“yeah it was nice talking to you too.” he said as he sat there before saying, “wait before you go, can i have your insta?”
“oh sure it’s-”
“let’s go, we’re gonna be even more late.” vicky rushed remi.
remi turned to luke. “you know what, just give me yours and i’ll follow you back later.”
luke nodded and wait for remi to unlock her phone and open instagram. once she did, she handed her phone to luke who took it in his hands and began to type out his user. he handed her the phone back.
“i’ll see you later luke.” remi said to luke as she waved bye. vicky grabbed her hand and began to walk them out of the house.
“i never got your name.” he shouted after her but she had already gone out the door.
luke stood there. “well now what?”
Tumblr media
remi had gotten back home at the sorority house and was now laying in bed with her pajamas on. a long sleeve and plaid pink pajamas. she had the covers over her as she scrolled through her phone.
she had opened instagram and saw a profile open. she looked at the user and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. remi looked at his bio and saw the name ‘luke hughes’. she smiled at the memory from earlier before she clicked follow and went to her homepage.
she spent the next couple of minutes on her phone before finally she turned it off and put it on her nightstand. vicky and danielle were already asleep as they had a long day tomorrow.
remi turned her small lamp off and turned towards the wall. she stared at a small photo of her as a little girl with a boy next to her. she was wearing a white dress while he was wearing a white polo shirt with khaki shorts. he was leaning down and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
the moonlight that shone through the curtain giving her a clear view of the photo. she looked in the corner and saw the initials l.h next to hers, ‘r.t’.
“huh. kinda looks like luke.”
she shrugged it off before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.
Tumblr media
remi groaned as the light peaked through the window. she grabbed a pillow and put it over her face to block out the sunlight.
“get up.” she heard. she opened her eyes and peaked over her pillow to see danielle and vicky standing there, up and ready.
“get out and leave me alone.” she grumbled and saw how vicky and danielle shrugged before exiting the room and into the hallway but not before closing the door.
remi grabbed the pillow and set it aside next to her. she stared at the ceiling for a good minute before she sat up. a little too quickly if anything. her eyes close as she brought her fingers to her temple. “oh, drinking is a bitch.”
she grabbed the covers and pulled them off of her as she got out of bed. she slipped on her slippers and began to make her bed.
remi spent the next 1 and a half getting ready. she showered, brushed her teeth, did her hair and much more.
she walked up to her night stand and grabbed her phone. she saw how she had gotten a dm on instagram. “who the fuck texted me?”
she unlocked her phone and opened instagram. remi relent to her dms and saw she had more than 4 dms from luke. she smiled to herself.
she quickly opened them as she began walking down the hallway and read the first one which was a simple hi.
she continued to read them until she got to one that seemed to make her stop what she was doing.

remi stood in the middle of the hallway and had a blank look on her face. some of her friends came out of their rooms and gave remi a weird look, some asking each other if she was ok.
what does he mean they got married? she didn’t remember any of that. “married? i barely remember anyone from elementary, let alone kindergarten.” remi murmured to herself.
remi got to thinking. surely, her parents must have had a photo of this supposed “wedding”. when remi had moved into her dorm during her freshaman year, her parents had given her a box full of photos from when she was a little girl. when remi moved into the sorority house, she had hung up all photos onto a bulletin board next to her bed. the photo. from last night.
she snapped out of her trance and began to text him back.

Tumblr media
‘Where have you been?’ Caroline asked as soon as you entered the back garden of the Mikaelson house, her eyes telling you that she was already fed up.
‘Dreading to come actually,’ you rolled your eyes, immediately snatching Caroline’s planner chart to see what had to be done by today.
Apparently Klaus and his siblings wanted to host some kind of ball and asked Caroline to help, and Caroline being Caroline couldn’t say no. Not only that but she also dragged you into today’s schedule because Klaus had a soft spot for you and thought you could protect her from him, and there was the other reason being that you also loved planning and organising.
‘Caroline, those blue flowers are so ugly…are you seriously going to use them?’ You judged her as she gave you the same look back.
‘Yes,’ she beamed sarcastically, ‘Morning glories are pretty.’
You cleared your throat.
‘Well maybe you should’ve been there when we discussed everything today.’
‘Caroline, please.’ You breathed, silently enjoying the banter. ‘I was not hating…just, you know, judging.’
‘Then stop.’ She snapped, taking back her chart and started to walk towards the terrace where Tyler and Matt tried to detangle pairs of fairy lights.
Chuckling at the two, you observed the scenery in front of you. Flowers in full bloom, greenery as wide as the eye could see as well as a pond that served as a home to multiple ducks. But at the bridge that led to a gazebo that stood on a small hill, you saw Hayley and Klaus talking. They were too far away to eavesdrop but you could tell that she kept smiling at him. You have rejected Klaus Mikaelson more than a few times, even if he charmed you. You just weren’t quite ready to date the most evil villain in supernatural history, but seeing Klaus with Hayley made you clench your teeth.
‘Oh my, I’m so sorry.’ A girl bumped into you with a box Caroline most likely sent her to another location of the house.
‘Watch where you’re going.’ You scoffed, defensively squaring up.
‘I apologise.’ She murmured, her eyes quickly glancing left to right.
‘And I said watch where you are going.’ You stepped closer, so close that you could lean forward to compel her. ‘I want you to go home and write down 100 reasons why you’ll never be worth anything.’
The girl left just as Caroline approached you with an angry look on her face.
‘What was that?’ She kept her eyes on her.
‘I compelled her to leave.’
‘We need help here. Hello? I mean we only have a few hours left!’
‘She was useless Caroline.’ You stated, letting your head fall back. ‘I’ll do whatever she has to do.’
‘You better,’ her white teeth smiled at you.
‘By the way,’ you straightened yourself, staring back into the distance where Hayley and Klaus were still talking about god knows what. ‘Why is that wolf girl smiling at Klaus like she owes him just that?’ You shot back one of the champagne glasses that stood on the table, quickly wiping a drop with your sleeve.
‘You haven’t heard,’ Caroline raised her eyebrows, she too now staring at the two of them. ‘Tyler’s bitchy werewolf friend Hayley slept with Klaus. Don’t ask why, I wouldn’t know how that happened.’
‘So why does she keep smiling at him?’
‘Maybe she fell for him.’
Somehow hearing that made you uneasy, like you wanted to rip her heart from her chest.
‘Why?’ Caroline smirked, turning to face you. ‘Jealous?’
‘What?’ You snapped back.
‘Oh come on, Klaus has been practically drooling over you and you kept pushing him away. I’d say you’re jealous because maybe he moved on.’
‘He didn’t move on,’ You grabbed another glass.
‘You say that so confidently.’
‘He sent me a dress to wear tonight,’ you took a sip, ‘a pink one. He knows my favourite colour is pink…he still likes me. Even asked me for a dance.’
‘So are you going to give him a chance?’
You kept your eyes on Hayley who had just put her hand on Klaus’ arm, throwing herself onto him hidden by a violent laugh.
Shooting back the second glass you walked past Caroline.
‘I’m going to get more decorations from inside the house.’
‘They’re in one of the backrooms!’ Caroline shouted from behind as you walked into the house to get away from anything Klaus and Hayley related. The thought of them having sex made your stomach churn. But it also sparked a flame from within; hatred; jealousy? You were pretty sure you were jealous you just didn’t want to admit it just yet.
Walking into a room you were greeted by many cardboard boxes that were filled to the brim with all sorts of decorations. Some where definitely for Christmas, others for Easter. Grabbing a garland you tried pulling it out but it didn’t budge. Repeatedly you tried to get it out, tons of ornaments refusing to move under the massive amounts of other stuff.
‘Why won’t this come out!’ You sneered, ripping part of it off and throwing it at the wall.
‘There there, love,’ Klaus’ voice caught you by surprise, turning around to see him leaning against the door frame. ‘I don’t know what that poor garland did to you but certainly it couldn’t have hurt you that much.’
‘What do you want?’, you scoffed, once again trying to get that bloody garland out but it would just not move.
‘Why do I have the feeling that you have been ignoring me, love?’
‘I don’t know, have I?’
‘Come on,’ Klaus stepped further into the room, arrogance dripping down his shoulders. ‘It’s rude not to let me know why…’
You turned around to face him, your body starting to feel warm. ‘Why don’t you go back to Hayley hm?’
‘So this is about Hayley? I suppose Caroline told you. You two seemed pretty close just moments ago.’
‘So it’s true then? You slept with her?’
‘Shouldn’t I have?’ He cocked his head, his devilish smirk adding to the rising warmth within.
You stayed quiet and instead turned around to face your luck once more.
‘Does it bother you?’
‘No it doesn’t bother me,’ you grabbed ahold of the decoration once more. ‘You can fuck whomever you want to, Klaus. Just leave me alone and go back to fucking her, why-the-fuck-won’t-this-stupid-decoration-come-out!’
‘You’re jealous.’ Klaus chuckled, you could hear it in his voice how amused he was.
‘I’m not. You go back to that little slut of yours and leave me alone.’ You stepped closer.
‘I have fancied you for months so now when I sleep with someone you suddenly seem to care…why?’
‘Okay fine, Klaus,’ your hand fell over your face, bile starting to rise in your throat. ‘I care. I am so angry at you for sleeping with Hayley when you should’ve fucked me!’
Klaus continued to smirk, his eyes glistening. Somewhat happy that you finally had exploded and accepted that you actually had like him for longer.
‘First of all, love,’ he came even closer, his chest so close you could almost feel his heartbeat through your chest. ‘I wouldn’t just fuck you, I would worship you.’
‘Is that what you told Hayley?’ You gazed into his eyes, his lips so close you could almost taste him.
‘Barely did any talking.’ Klaus’ nose brushed against your, ‘I thought of you whilst I was inside of her,’
‘That doesn’t exactly make a girl swoon,’ A suppressed laugh escaped your lips, breaking eye contact before Klaus’ finger pushed your head back up at him.
‘Let’s not pretend that you don’t love it, Y/n,’ he said sturn. ‘Why keep this wall up of yours.’
You raised your eyebrows.
‘Come on, darling. You love that the bad guy has a soft spot for you.’ He chuckled. ‘No one’s going to judge you for wanting to sleep with me…maybe even more.’
His lips came closer and closer, both hands already cupping your face. You really wanted to kiss him. You really did.
Heat arose from your stomach to your chest. His lips were getting closer and your heart skipped a beat. His dark blue eyes sparked with sin as his eyes didn’t leave your gaze. Your heart pounded in your chest as your knees got weaker. The empty void that filled the space between your bodies was filled with his presence as he stepped even closer. Your whole body tingled, the feeling of his frame leaning on yours, as his arms wrapped around you felt nearly forbidden. His lips brushed against yours, softly, delicately, like you were a porcelain figure, one crack away from falling to pieces and being broken forever. Seconds later the gap was closed. His hands cupped your face as his lips crashed into yours, lips plump and smooth against your own. His arms found themselves to your back, pulling you closer than was possible—you also wanted to be closer to him. You could only focus on how soft he felt against your lips, how addictively he invaded all your senses.
You pushed away from him before he could indulge once more as you hastily pulled back from the kiss.
‘We shouldn’t do this. This is a terrible idea.’ Your thoughts scattered across the floor, breathing heavily.
‘You’re right . . . Want to do it again?‘
‘Yes.’
Barely a sound escaped you before he cupped your face again, kissing you more forcefully than before; your arms finding their way to his neck, making sure you wouldn’t fall from the force he was impacting you with. His arms were around your lower back, pulling you towards his torso. Your hands had found his hair that you had secretly been dreaming of tugging since the moment you saw. Not breaking the kiss you went to one of the bedrooms just next door, closing it before resuming the kiss.
You parted your lips, urging him to open his, moaning into his mouth. Dragging his lips against your cheek up to your ear, his hand found your face again, his thumb pulling down your bottom lip, breaking the kiss again, your eyes meeting, now under different circumstances.
You tore off his shirt, gently stroking his chest as he pulled of your trousers and shirt as you kissed him again. His tongue pushing past yours, his hands at the back of your head pushing you further into his kiss.
You played with his belt, trying to unbuckle it as he clipped off your bra leaving you in only your panties. Your fingers continued to brush against the light stubble on his lower abdomen when he suddenly broke the kiss, his eyes darkening as his lip curled almost devilishly.
Klaus walked over to the door, ‘Do you get turned on listening to people have sex, Hayley?’, and swiftly opened the door to reveal Hayley whose eyes were wide with shock, taken aback by having been found.
Klaus pulled Hayley into the room by the collar of her jeans jacket, locking the door to ensure that no other person would interrupt again.
‘I didn’t mean to.’ She said, barely audible as the shame started to settle in, her fingers playing with the hair tie around her wrist. ‘I won’t tell anyone.’
‘We don’t care if anyone knows about us, love.’ Klaus drawled, rolling his eyes.
Hayley’s eyes met yours before they visibly travelled down to your naked chest that already bore red spots from Klaus’ foreplay.
‘You are interrupting.’ You said coldly, almost hissing as you felt the annoyance rise in you, your fingernails digging into your palms as you tried to control yourself.
Klaus gazed at you then back at Hayley.
‘Now what do we do with you,’
‘I want her dead, Klaus.’ Monotone. You could only stare at her, your mind filling with images of every way you could ensure to stop her beating heart.
He chuckled. ‘You hear that little wolf? My darling girl wants you dead…,’ his hands grabbed Hayley’s shoulders and squared them with his. ‘And everything my girl wants she gets.’ Klaus looked directly into her eyes. ‘Stand here and don’t move.’
He moved her hair from her neck, ‘Fancy a drink, love?’
You stepped towards Hayley, your eyes filling with lust as your teeth finally pierced through her delicate skin. The thick sweet taste of werewolf blood coating your tongue as you felt an euphoric rush travel through your veins. You could feel the life drain out of her body as shallow breaths of dying filled your ears. Glimpsing over at Klaus who also had his teeth buried into her neck, you noticed that he already had been staring at you.
Blood started to drip down the corners of your mouth, falling onto your chest, nipples hardening in arousal. The warm blood messily smearing over your naked body. Taking your index finger, you collected some of the blood and placed it on your tongue, closing your mouth around it as you sucked it off, your eyes never leaving his.
Klaus pushed Hayley’s dead body to the ground, clenching his jaw. You stood inches apart, your nose picking up the scent of blood mixed with his cologne.
Seconds later the gap was closed again. His hands cupped your face as his lips crashed into yours. His arms found themselves back at your back, pulling you closer.
‘If only I had known how twisted you really are,’
Your eyes found his; chest rising and falling heavily waiting for him to finish his sentence.
‘I would’ve fucked you sooner.’ Klaus smirked, pulling you in for one more heated kiss before he pulled away. His breath sent shivers down your spine, raising goosebumps on every available patch of skin that was naked to the open.
Your breath hitched when you suddenly felt his mouth on your tits. He started to trace long slow licks; licking of the blood. His right hand found its way to your other breast, massaging it thoroughly and pinching your hardened nipple. You bit your lower lip closing your eyes as you felt your heart beat outside of your chest, your cunt aching from between your thighs, soft moans escaping your blood stained lips.
‘God you are so beautiful.’
‘Fuck,’ you hissed, his tongue starting to flick your nipples as your fingers buried themselves his his hair. Gently tugging it.
Your hands fell to his face bringing him to your face, and forcefully kissed him again, the sight of him being covered in blood sending heat waves down to cunt, feeling that your panties were already soaked. Your arms found their way to his neck, to make sure you wouldn’t fall from the force he was impacting you with. His arms were around your lower back, pulling you towards his body.
‘She tastes good but you would taste better,’
He pushed your body onto the bed, ripping off your panties as a long lick from your hole to your clit made you arch your back. His finger parted your lips and started to explore your already wet cunt, his teeth biting the thin skin of your inner thighs.
‘We barely started and you're soaked? Just for me,’ he chuckled. ‘And here I thought you hated me. Turns out you’ve just been fighting me?’ You closed your eyes and turned your head to the side, difficulty concentrating as he started to push his tongue deeper into you. Slowly he began to pump his fingers out of you, too slow for your liking. Your hands grasped his wrist, nails digging into his skin, asking for more.
‘Not satisfied darling?’ He cocked at you.
You could only concentrate on the pleasure you were receiving, and whimpered out a no. You barely had time to take another breath before he reattached his mouth to your aching cunt.
‘Fuck!’ You yelled out, grabbing a fistful of his dark hair. A deep moan escaped his lips, sending vibrations through your body. He added another finger going even faster than his previous pace, curling his fingers, hitting your spot perfectly.
He continued to pump his fingers in and out of you, making you cry out in euphoria. With every forceful hit you felt your orgasm draw nearer and nearer. It felt like a knot inside of your stomach was going to explode any second which Klaus started to notice. Just before you could release your screams, he pulled out his digits and grinned.
‘Please make me cum,’ You whimpered out desperately.
Klaus’ lips hovered over yours, giving you a taste of yourself as you caught his lips. ‘With time, love.’

Awww I love author Anthony! When does Kate find out he carries that photo around? Can we get a snippet of that night it was taken?
Let’s see Kate’s point of view
She’s not even really sure how she ended up here. They’d been in the pub, surrounded by their friends with empty glasses strewn on the table around them and Anthony had scoffed.
“Oh, of course you think Frankenstein is trash. Of course you do!”
Kate raised her eyebrows while the rest of the table groaned.
“No! No, we’re having a nice night! Please don’t start arguing.”
Kate smiled and leaned across the table at Anthony, his stupid handsome face making something flutter in her chest. “Convince me, Bridgerton. Convince me that Victor Frankenstein isn’t a complete dickhead who got in over his head.”
“If you don’t understand the metaphor for the fact that we are eventually all brought down by our own hubris, then I can’t explain it to you, Sharma. You’re hopeless.”
“Sounds like you’re scared to convince me. Almost like you… know you can’t.”
His laughter was so beautiful. She hated how nice that sound was. Warm and happy. He ran his hair through his already messy hair. “Katie Kat I could convince you to do so many things.”
God, she wanted him to. She’d thought they’d never be friends the first time they met, and she definitely didn’t think she’d be where she is now, with her heart fluttering in her chest every time she saw him. And she didn’t think when he looked at her through his lashes, a lit cigarette in his hand, the smoke curling between him that she’d say yes so easily.
“I thought you were giving up smoking.”
Anthony sighed, looking wistfully at it, “I know, I know. You hate smokers. I just miss the smell when I’m a few pints deep. Makes me feel like a tortured artist.” He stamped it out on the side of the bin, tossing the cigarette in the ashtray unsmoked. “Are you heading somewhere?”
Kate raised her eyebrows, “Just… back to my dorm.”
Anthony nodded, stepping closer and putting his hands in his pockets, the scarf his mum had made him for Christmas wrapped around his neck. “Are you actually up for a friendly literary debate back at mine?”
“Yes. Obviously.”
Their breath had frosting in the air between them as they made their way back to his flat, laughing and giggling about one thing or another. And here they were now.
Kate had pulled off her boots and their coats were abandoned on the floor by the kitchen, empty bottles between them as they sat on the rug in front of the fire, the only light in the room. Anthony’s wire rimmed glasses slid down his nose as he shook his head.
“You are ridiculous!”
“I’m not ridiculous! Angus, Thongs, and full frontal Snogging is a fucking great book for its demographic! I still love that book!”
“I am… obsessed with this confidence.” Anthony grinned, “I’m obsessed with you.”
He doesn’t mean it like that. Kate sighed to herself, taking another long drag from her drink. He would make a move if he wanted to. He’s slept with a quarter of the girls on our course.
“Oh and what were you reading at 12? Were you composing a modern version of Beowulf?”
Anthony flushed, “There was some epic poetry involved, yes.”
Kate laughed, ruffling his hair, “You’re so stupid.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing!”
“If you’re so obsessed with me,” She snatched his brother’s Polaroid camera off the coffee table, “Take a picture so it’ll last longer.”
Anthony rolled his eyes at the challenge, “Well strike a pose for me then. Something worth capturing, please madam.”
She waited for the flash and the square of film to shoot out the bottom of the camera and their body’s swayed closer as she peered down at it. “Fuck, you better put that in your wallet, Bridgerton. A memento of this glorious night when we got along. When I looked pretty as hell”
Anthony rolled his eyes, “Come on, you’re always fucking beautiful. You know that.”
She could sense the shift in the air. She felt her breath caught in her chest and she was suddenly too aware of how close her body was to his and the heat of the fire radiating between them. She was too aware of how easy it would be for him to close the distance between them, tilt her chin up and claim her lips for himself.
“Do I know that?”
“You should.” His eyes flicked down to her lips and his teeth bit his own, seconds slipping by. “I’m… having a nice time with you.”
“Yeah me too.”
Anthony took a shuddering breath and leaned backwards, slapping his hands against his thighs before he stood, his feet slipping on the floor in his socks. “Another drink while you prepare you Wuthering heights is the worst arguments?”
“Yeah.” Kate cleared her throat, hoping the firelight would distract from her own embarrassment as she pushed it down, “And I know you hate it too so don’t pretend!”
“Maybe I just want to hear your arguments!”
“You’re such a glutton for punishment.”
“Remind me to never bloody let you read my manuscript.”
“No promises there.”

Merry Christmas
(Ray x Female Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I promise the gif is relevant 😅)
Here's a little Christmas fic involving Ray and his family on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas, everyone!
Also here on Ao3
SFW, under the cut for length
The apartment was quiet. Too quiet for what morning it was, but it wouldn't stay that way. Which is why you and Ray were trying to get as much sleep as you possibly could until the inevitable.
Which came at 9:30 on the dot with the shouting of “Mom! Dad! Santa's been here!” followed by a tackle rivaling that of a linebacker. Ray grunted upon the impact of his seven-year-old son.
“Wish Santa would have gifted us another five minutes,” Ray grumbled. He then patted Danny's back. “Go on and get your sister. We'll be there in a minute.”
“Okay!” Danny exclaimed, taking off out of the room.
“Don't you wish we had that much energy?” you asked, snuggling closer to Ray, basking in his warmth for a little longer. “You know he's been awake since at least seven.”
“What time is it?” Ray asked, rubbing a hand across his face.
 You lifted your head to look at the clock. “9:30. So we only got about five hours of sleep.”
He sighed. “I can't help that it took so long to put that playhouse together.”
You kissed his jaw. “It'll be worth it. Katie will love it.”
“Mm, yeah…” He then kissed your forehead. “Alright, it's showtime. I'll go get the camera.”
You rolled off of him and watched him get up, admiring how his sleep pants fit him before following. Ray yawned and shuffled out of the bedroom, running a hand through his hair as you hurried into the living room. A few seconds later, you heard the sound of running feet followed by gasps of delight as Danny and Katie beheld their presents.
Ray appeared at your elbow, video camera in hand, recording their reactions. The pair of you exchanged smiles at your kids' elation. Katie immediately went up to the playhouse while Danny made a beeline for the leftover milk and cookies, along with the note they'd left for Santa.
“Santa wrote back!” he exclaimed, hurrying over to show you and Ray.
You smiled down at the note, the top half written by Danny and the lower half written by Santa—Ray's neatest hand.
“What did he say?” you asked.
“It says: Dear Danny and Katie. Thank you so much for the milk and cookies! I made sure to leave you some cookies this time for the both of you to enjoy when you open your presents. As always, you've been such good kids this year! Have a very merry Christmas! Love, Santa.”
Danny immediately returned to the plate with two cookies left on it, grabbing one for himself and handing the other to Katie.
“Good idea on that,” Ray murmured to you.
“It's how my parents used to do it. It was always a treat to have a cookie on Christmas morning.”
The gift unwrapping went on for nearly twenty minutes, as each gift unwrapped warranted immediate play for a few minutes before curiosity got the better of Danny and Katie. You and Ray watched with smiles as Danny occasionally stopped with his own presents to help Katie open one of hers.
Katie then got to one of her surprise gifts, one Ray had been anxious about. But the delighted gasp as she tore the paper away made Ray visibly relax.
“A train set!” she exclaimed. She looked up at Ray. “Look, Daddy, a train set! Just like the one we saw at the store!”
Ray beamed. “I guess Santa realized you'd probably like it.”
Katie looked back at the box, still smiling ear to ear. “I love it!”
Danny knelt next to Katie. “Come on, open it!”
You affectionately squeezed Ray's arm. “See? I told you you had nothing to worry about.”
“I'm just happy my childhood love of trains passed on to one of them. I mean, both of them dressing up as Ghostbusters for Halloween is cute and all, and I wouldn't trade that for the world, but that was my job. This is something a kid can really enjoy.”
Between the two of them, Katie and Danny already had half the track laid out. Katie was holding the train, flipping the little switch on the side, but nothing was happening.
“Daddy, I can't get it to work.”
“Here, sweetie, let me see,” Ray said, handing the camera off to you and moving to sit on the floor with them.
Katie crawled into Ray's lap and watched intently as he worked to get the train running. Danny was hanging over Ray's shoulder, also watching. You took in the scene with a warm smile on your face. This was bliss. This was everything you wanted and more.
Ray seemed to sense you watching and looked up, giving you that smile of his that you loved so much, the one he reserved only for you. And now you had it caught on camera. All of them together…
Your wonderful family…
***
About an hour later, Ray stood at the sink in the kitchen, washing the mug and plate they'd used for the milk and cookies, when he felt you come up behind him, pressing up against his back, your hands on his ass, and your lips on his neck.
“And here's my Christmas present,” you murmured against his neck, smiling and giving his ass a squeeze. “Seriously, Ray, have I told you how damn good you look in these sleep pants?”
Ray chuckled. “A few times, but I don't mind hearing it again.” He dried his hands and turned to face you, wrapping his arms securely around you. “I guess I should thank the person who gave me these. It's almost like she knew exactly what to get me.”
“Mm, she must have very good taste. I shouldn't be jealous, should I?”
“I am rather in love with her… And she's been my best friend for years. I can't imagine my life without her.”
It pleased him that he still had the ability to make you blush. “Ray…”
He grinned and kissed your cheek. “She's the love of my life.” He kissed your other cheek. “And my wife.” He now pecked your lips. “And the mother of our two beautiful children.”
“Then maybe you should be jealous, too,” you murmured, wrapping your arms around his neck. “I'm married to the most wonderful man, husband, and father… He's been my best friend for years, too, and we'll be best friends for years and years to come. I'm not ever going to let him go.”
Ray touched his nose to yours, feeling tears prick his eyes. “He's never going to let you go either.”
With that, he sealed his lips over yours, kissing you soundly and with such passion and love that he hoped it made your knees weak. He hoped to still have that effect on you as well.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he murmured against your lips after a moment.
“I love you, too, Raymond,” you sighed, obviously in love.
He just started to kiss you again when a chorus of “ew’s” sounded from the doorway. You both looked over to see Danny and Katie standing there, watching you two.
“I thought you two were getting ready to go to Uncle Pete's and Aunt Dana's,” Ray said.
The kids giggled and ran away. Ray shook his head, looking back at you, his hand coming to rest on your still-flat lower abdomen.
“You sure we're ready for another one?”
“We better be because it's happening.”
He nodded, smiling and leaning his forehead against yours. “I know, and I can't wait. I never realized just how fulfilling having a family could be until I met you. I know this may sound sappy, but… You and the kids? The best and only gifts I ever want.”
“Oh, Ray…” you whispered, getting misty-eyed. “You mean that?”
He lifted a hand to caress your cheek. “Of course I do. You know that.”
“Just like you know, you and the kids are the best and only gifts I ever want.” You kissed him softly. “I love you so much, Ray. You’ve given me everything I’ve ever wanted and more. Merry Christmas.”
He grinned, nuzzling your nose with his. “Merry Christmas, sweetheart.”
***
“Alright, troops! Line up for inspection!”
You walked into the hallway, burdened down with everyone’s coats, and smiled when you saw Ray adjusting Danny’s tie. Danny was nearly leaning back with how straight he was standing.
“There you go,” Ray said. “And at least keep the tie on through lunch. After that, give it to your mom or me so we don’t lose it like last year at Uncle Egon’s.”
“But Aunt Janine found it over the summer!”
Ray nodded. “Yes. In the freezer. Behind what was left of the stuffing.”
Danny barely suppressed his laughter. “I wonder how it got there?”
“I wonder. But it won’t happen this year, right?”
Danny nodded and took his coat you were handing him. Ray then knelt in front of Katie.
“And is my little princess ready?” he asked.
Katie nodded. “Yes, Daddy.”
He looked at the big bag she had sitting next to her and smiled. “And I see you have all of your presents with you that you want to show Oscar?”
“Except the playhouse. It was too big.”
Ray glanced up at you, exchanging smiles. “Well, we’ll invite Oscar over sometime soon to play; how about that?”
“Can Callie come, too?” Danny interjected.
“I’ll talk to Aunt Janine about it,” you said. “Now, come on, you two! Let’s go load up the car!”
Ray stood and took the proffered coat from you. “Winston said he and Tiyah will be here this year.”
“Oh, good! I missed them last year,” you replied.
“Also, Winston hinted that you won’t be the only one with a big announcement today…”
A grin overtook your features. “They’re expecting again!”
Ray nodded. “Yep. Due date’s around the same time as yours.”
You grabbed Ray’s arm. “You know what this means, don’t you? Joint birthday parties! Oh, I’m so excited for them! They’ll catch up to us at this rate…”
“Sweetheart,” Ray said, smiling and wrapping his arm around you to get your attention. “Why don’t we all make the announcements first before we start planning birthday parties?”
“I’m sorry… It’s this time of year! It makes me so… happy.”
His smile softened. “I know, and I’m glad it does. Here, I’ll help Katie with her coat, you go grab the food, and we’ll head out.”
You nodded and handed Ray the coat. “Right. First thing’s first.”
You returned to the kitchen to grab the two dishes you were taking to lunch. You intended to carry them yourself, but Ray took one from you as you passed by him, tucking it under his arm and locking the front door behind you.
“That potato salad is one of my favorite things you make,” he said, nodding to the bowl you were holding.
“You know, sometimes I think you're just with me for my potato salad,” you commented, making a face at him.
Ray shook his head. “Not true. It's so much more than that.” He started to turn away, lifting up the dish he was holding. “It's for your corn casserole, too.”
You stared after him in mock indignation. “Raymond Stantz!”
He looked over his shoulder at you, grinning. “Mrs. Stantz?”
You walked up behind him, subtly grabbing his ass. “It's a good thing I love your ass,” you muttered only loud enough for him to hear.
“Sometimes I think you're just with me for my ass,” Ray lamented in a teasing tone.
“Came for your ass, stayed for your personality.”
He chuckled, wrapping his free arm around your waist and pulling you to him. “Good answer.”
He kissed you again. It was so easy to get lost in his kisses, even after all this time.
“If we’re late, can I tell Uncle Pete it’s because you two couldn’t stop kissing?” Danny asked from the elevator.
“We won't be late!” Ray called, slipping his hand into yours and lacing your fingers together. He then smiled at you. “I'll make it up to you later.”
You grinned back. “I'm counting on it.”

Hi Katie! From the prompt list, "I haven't laughed like this in a long time" for Grace and Rosie if you're feeling that vibe?
Tumblr media
A/N: Hi Battie! Thank you for sending this in! I hope you like this. These Heartbeats Clear Masterlist
The Officer's Club is a flurry of activity as the Red Cross girls enlist the Nurses to help them decorate for the evening's shindig.
Grace straightens to her full height, wiping perspiration from her brow when the door opens, and Rosie's large frame fills the space, the light from behind illuminating him.
Helen winks at Grace, who flushes and bats her friend away.
Crusher cap in hand, Rosie takes in the scene as he approaches. "Thought I'd find you here. How's it going?"
"Fine," Grace says, stepping closer and lowering her voice. "You're sure he has no idea?"
"He's too busy to notice. I'm a little worried we won't be able to get him away from his office, to tell you the truth."
Crosby has been promoted to Major, and everyone decided it was worth celebrating, even though the man himself would probably be mortified. Really, they all need a reason to have a party.
Morale has been low. They need an excuse to have fun, even if it's only for one night.
"Well, we're counting on you to convince him, Major."
She loves the slow smile he gets sometimes that's she's trying hard to believe isn't just for her. It gives her butterflies. There's a simmering heat between them now, weeks after Rosie's hardstand confession that had left her breathless.
She's pretty sure she loves him, and is working up the courage to let him know that fact before he flies again.
"Major, can you give me a hand for a second?" Tatty asks from across the way where she's trying to hang streamers. "Sorry to interrupt, but you're taller than anyone here."
One last soft smile at Grace and then he heads over, talking to Tatty quietly as he holds up one end so she can tape it to the wall where she's perched on a stepstool.
Grace busies herself with other party prep, but she can't stop herself from sneaking glances at Rosie every chance she gets, biting her bottom lip to keep from smiling when she catches his eye a few times.
She feels like a teenager.
It's a few more moments of trying not to eavesdrop to Rosie's low voice before she registers his presence at her back again, turning around to give him a grin.
"So, Major, what time should I pick you up?" She asks, delighted at the incredulous laugh that bubbles out of him.
"Oh, you're taking lead on this mission?"
She nods, face serious. "That's right. You deserve a night off. Let's see... seven o'clock? Can you be ready by then?"
He nods, scratching at his jaw in that way he does when he's trying not to laugh. "Yes ma'am. With bells on."
.
And so it's Grace loitering outside Rosie's hut in the early evening light, wearing the one non-uniform dress she packed for this exact type of occasion.
The door opens and Douglass is there, straightening the tie on his uniform, and he smiles when he sees Grace twisting her fingers together anxiously.
"Captain," he says, "You look great."
"You look handsome, Dougie." Grace says, smiling shyly. "Any chance you can let Rosie know I'm here?"
"Oh, he knows. He's been checking his watch for the last five minutes." His grin is shit-eating. "Not every day you get a girl askin' you on a date, you know? He'll be out in a minute." '
Grace shakes her head, watching as he walks in the direction of the officer's club. The door squeaks open behind her one more time, and she smells Rosie's familiar cologne before she turns around. His eyes are pinned to her, dark blue traveling up and down her body as he smiles gently at her.
"Wow, Grace."
"It's not anything--"
He cuts her off before she can continue by taking her hand, lacing their fingers together. "Don't say it's nothing special," he chides. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." Grace whispers. There's no one around that she can see, so she takes a chance and lifts up on her toes to press a soft kiss to his lips that immediately part for her, his hand coming up to cradle her jaw. "Hi."
"Hi." He echoes. "Ready to go? I told Croz to come but there's still a chance we'll have to go by his office if he doesn't show up."
"Ready." She confirms, and they swing by command first, both of them letting out a sigh of relief when Crosby's desk is empty.
At the officer's club, he's waiting by the door, a sheepish grin on his face as he accepts congratulations, pats on the back, and a beer from Douglass.
"I knew you were up to something," he says, pointing a finger at Rosie when they get inside. "And you!" He switches his attention to Grace. "You said it was urgent--"
"It is urgent! It's urgent that you take a night off and have a good time. Doctor's orders." Grace replies.
Distantly, she's aware that Rosie hasn't let go of her hand, but she's past caring. Their relationship isn't exactly a secret, not after they had their first kiss in a post-mission induced haze on the hardstand where anyone could see.
She also suspects no one cares, not as long as they're happy. This war has been too long for anyone to care how other people find their bit of happiness.
"Congratulations, Major." Rosie says to Crosby, stepping forward to shake his friend's hand. "Now let's have some fun."
They spend the night drinking and dancing, Grace laughing as she trips over her own feet until she gets the hang of letting Rosie lead. He only teases her about it once, and she basks in the glow of an evening where no one is worrying and where they all get to let loose. It's so rare these days, and she can't remember the last time she had this much fun.
"I need a break," she whispers in Rosie's ear after awhile, sweat curling the hair at her temples.
"I'll get you another--"
"Water, Rosie. I need water."
He nods, smiling as he leads her over to an empty table, pulling out the chair so she can sit down before heading back to the bar. He comes back with a water for her and a coca-cola for himself, and it's not long before he takes her free hand again, his fingers tracing the veins on the inside of her wrist casually, like he doesn't even realize he's doing it.
"I haven't laughed like this in a long time." He tells her, voice soft. "This was a good idea."
Grace looks around the room at all the smiling faces, people dancing and propping up the bar, split in pairs or in groups of friends, and she looks back to Rosie, who is watching her like she's hung the moon.
"Stop looking at me like that."
"Can't help it."
The party winds down sometime in the early hours, and there's no missions scheduled for the next day because of inclement weather. They all take a collective sigh of relief knowing that the high of their party won't come crashing down the next morning.
Grace has the afternoon shift at the hospital the next day, and as Rosie walks her back to her hut, she squeezes his hand in thanks.
"What?" He asks.
"Just-- I had fun. And this--" she holds up their joined hands, "I like this."
His cheeks flush. "Me too."
They come to a slow stop near the door, and Grace laughs when Rosie tugs on her hand to pull her to the side of the building, away from, the harsh light above the door and away from prying eyes.
Grace is sure Rosie has never done one improper thing in his life, and it makes her light up from the inside out to see the way he wants to keep these moments between them private and just for them.
It's still up for debate if the way he kisses her would be considered proper. Certainly not to any poor soul who might wander by and catch them, but Grace is past caring. It's just-- he's so passionate about everything he does, his feelings for her included.
She responds in kind, and there's not a second where she feels the need to slow things down. She trusts him implicitly, and she knows the feeling is mutual. She can feel it in the way he gives himself over to her, lets himself be his most vulnerable in front of her.
Foreheads pressed together, both of them trying to catch their breath, he gives her a blinding smile before kissing her temple. "Goodnight, Grace." His voice is a low, low rumble that makes her break out in shivers.
"Goodnight," she replies in a whisper. "Pick me up for breakfast tomorrow?"
"You got it."
He walks her back to the door, and stands there, hands clasped behind his back as he watches her go inside. She gives him one last smile over her shoulder before she closes the door. Sitting down on the edge of her mattress, she lets out one more breathless laugh before getting ready for bed, hoping they both have many more laugh-filled nights ahead of them. Together.

stolen bride pt. 3
avatar 2 neytiri te tskaha mo'at'ite x fem!metkayina!reader
Tumblr media
a/n: this is probably the last part, also jake is a bit villain in this story idk, also it's just a story so don't attack me in the comments, if you don't like it don't read it otherwise enjoy!
sevin = pretty, beautiful
song - Firework by Katy Perry
part 1, part 2 here
༺☆༻
You woke up, feeling soft kisses on your neck, they were from Neytiri who was already up. She had her arms tightly wrapped around your waist while her face was buried in your neck, peppering it softly with kisses.
"Good morning, sevin." Neytiri said softly as she gave you one last kiss behind your ear.
You smiled on the nickname she gave you. You then turned to face her while giving her a loving smile.
"Good morning.." You yawned.
She smiled back at you which was rare at this time, but you were glad. You felt special that she feels safe around you, that she felt comfortable enough with you to be vulnerable around you. But your good mood fell down quickly as you realized...
"What do we do now? Were you serious with the running away?" You asked worried.
Neytiri sighed and gave you assuring, warm smile. She then softly stroked your cheek with her palm while looking into your eyes. She thought everything through and after few days, she decided that her children could live without her, just with their father, Jake. She knew they will understand, at least Kiri...
She loved her kids dearly, but there was a problem with her husband... she felt out of love.
She didn't have any feelings for him. He brought only bad to her, her father is dead because of him, her home was destroyed because of him and now? They were all running because of him.
On the other hand if it wasn't him and this whole chaos around with Quaritch, she'd never met you, so it's also a good thing.
"Yes, I was serious. I want to be with you and I believe they gonna make it." She said with assuring smile, completly serious.
You hesitated for few minutes. Thinking if it was good idea, but you quickly realized it was when imagine of you two getting separated again crossed your mind. You then relaxed and smiled back.
"I see you." You said as you gave her a kiss on the lips.
She blushed but quickly melted in that kiss. Her heart was happiest when she was with you, she felt so at peace, so loved, so whole, so happy. It can't be described how amazing the feeling was.
"Oel ngati kameie" Neytiri answered. She then gave you one quick peck on the lips and spoke again. "We have to hurry, so we leave before anyone wakes up."
Both of you then stood up and quietly started packing your stuff. You started packing a small bag of stuff that was important to you like stuff that Tuk, Kiri or your younger sister, Tsireya made for you; your hunting knife from your father; herbs, shells and sea flowers from your mother.
You also left a small note near your bed for your sister and eventually everyone saying that both of you, Neytiri and you, are okay and that they have to understand.
It made you a bit sad but at the same time, you were going to spend the rest of your life with the love of your life. It was worth it.
Neytiri went to her marui and packed all her stuff as well. She didn't forget her bow and gave all of her kids last goodbye kiss.
She then called her ikran and put all her stuff on it, followed by going back to you but now with her ikran and packed stuff. Meanwhile you called your ilu and told it to follow Neytiri's ikran the whole time because you two are gonna fly above the ocean, your ilu can follow and not get separated from you. It was fantastic!
You and Neytiri placed your stuff on her ikrans back, right next to her packed stuff. She then jumped on her ikran while giving you her hand so she can help you get on.
You hesitated tho, it was your first time flying on a ikran. She noticed your anxiety and gave you a warm smile. "Don't be afraid, sevin." She said calmly.
You took a deep breath and after few seconds, you took her hand and sat on her ikran, in front of her. She then hugged her arms around your waist and then...
"Wow..." You said as you were suddenly in the air.
You felt the fresh breeze on your face while her warm body hugging you from behind. You could felt the skin of her ikran which was beautifully colored. You could hear your ilu swimming right under you. You could see everything from up here. It was beautiful.
You relaxed your body into her, feeling safe, loved, warm...you felt at home, you felt whole...
Neytiri noticed how you relaxed your body and she also noticed the smile crawling up your face which made her smile as well.
"Before we find our new home, I want you to meet my mother." She said as she kissed your forehead.
So now, you and Neytiri are on your way back to the forest, to meet Neytiri's mother, Mo'at.

Live A Little | A Worth It AU | Ralph Penbury x You | Masterlist
In This Edition: You and Ralph spend one last day on the Carpathia! Words: 2k
Tumblr media
"Hey, kids?"
You slowly blink yourself awake and lift your head to see your aunt sitting on the edge of her bed.
"I've heard we're supposed to arrive in New York tonight. You should get up and move around a bit before then, remind those muscles what their job is."
You sigh and lie back down, on your back, to stare at the ceiling.
"If we get in tonight, it'll be late. We'll get a hotel room 'til morning, then try to find your mother and father. The wireless operators sent out a list of survivors for the papers, so I expect the place will be crawling with relatives and reporters. Ralph?"
"Yes, ma'am?" he answers.
"You're welcome to come with us."
"Thank you, ma'am."
"But you should find your sister and make sure she's alright, too. She's around here somewhere."
"Yes, ma'am."
"They're serving breakfast in the dining hall now. Take a right at the end of this hallway and keep walking, you can't miss it." She gets up and makes her way to the door. "I'll meet you back here before dinner?"
You nod in agreement, and she leaves. A moment of silence passes, and then you feel Ralph reach for your hand. You lace your fingers together and let out a collective sigh. He turns to face you with a twinkle in his eye.
"May I escort you to breakfast, Mrs. Penbury?"
You face splits into a grin, and you lean over to give your husband a kiss.
Half an hour later, you sit as close as the chairs in the dining hall allow, and eat your first meal as a married couple quietly.
You know your parents will eventually adjust. Aunt Molly will probably ask what took you so long when she finds out. Ralph's father is gone, and he expects his mother won't care. Neither of you gives a damn about Victoria's opinion on the matter.
"I suppose we ought to go find Victoria after breakfast," Ralph sighs, as if he can read your thoughts.
"What will you say to her?"
You haven't forgotten the way she treated him that night at the lifeboats. Or the games she'd played with him all his life. You haven't spent much time discussing her, but you suspect you've only scratched the surface of the awful things she's done to him.
"I don't know," he admits. "Do we tell her that we're married?"
"If you like," you smile. "Do you think she'll fling herself overboard in protest?"
He grins wickedly, drains the last of his tea, and you embark on your journey to find Victoria.
Ralph holds your hand as you walk the ship you'd been on for four days, seeing it for the first time. It feels different than exploring Titanic. There was an air of fun to it, then. This feels wrong somehow. Knowing that you and your loved ones had made it off of the other ship safely, while so many others were mourning for those they'd lost. You, who has just married the love of your life, and have a future together to look forward to. How many dreams had been sucked down into the depths with that ship?
Ralph seems to sense it too. He holds your hand tightly, and wastes no time scanning each room for his sister. He doesn't stop moving until you arrive in an open area with children playing.
"Is that Katie?" he asks, squinting.
"Who's Katie?"
"Victoria's maid."
He stares at a young woman on the other side of the room, showing a group of children how to make figures with their fingers and a loop of string. She laughs with them, but when she looks up to see Ralph, the color drains from her face.
She gives the string to one of the children and rises, walking toward Ralph like a prisoner to an execution.
"I'll be right back, love," he says quickly, going to meet her halfway. You watch their interaction with curiosity, and a bit of fear. How could anyone be afraid of Ralph? Is there a side to him that you haven't seen yet? Your doubts are short-lived, because Katie's fearful eyes crinkle in a smile after a few words from him. They talk for a moment more, laugh together, and part with what are clearly well-wishes.
"Katie's been hired as a nanny," Ralph says excitedly upon his return. "Victoria told her not to bother coming back until she'd reclaimed everything from the purser's office. It was closed, so Katie took that as a dismissal and boarded a lifeboat. She entertained the children through the night, and a nice American family has asked her to stay on with them. She already loves the children. I'm so happy for her!"
"So am I," you smile. Katie returns to the children, and a little boy runs to her and extends his arms. She picks him up in a hug and swings him around. One of the children on the floor tugs at her skirt, and she kneels to show them the string trick again. They watch in awe. "That looks way more fun than taking orders from Victoria," you wink.
"She's managed to avoid Victoria thus far, and has asked me not to tell her that she's here," Ralph explains. He takes one last look at Katie, a proud smile on his face, and leads you to the door.
"Would she care?" you ask.
"Only because she'd expect to be waited on," he says with a roll of his eyes as you proceed to the next room. "I feel terrible for not making sure that Katie was safe that night."
"Darling, I believe you were a tiny bit preoccupied that night. I seem to recall something about a frightened woman who wouldn't let go of your hand?"
He smiles and kisses your temple, and the search for Victoria continues.
You finally spot her in a lounge, surrounded by the girlfriends you'd spent the first part of your week trying to avoid.
"Victoria," Ralph says stiffly, when you approach from behind.
"Oh, there you are, Ralph," she says with a glance back at him. "Some old lady told me that you were here."
You bristle, at both her reaction to finding out that her brother was alive and her assessment of your aunt.
"I've been bored out of my skull," she whines. "There's nothing to do on this bloody boat." She hangs her head off the back of her chair, and her eyes land on you. She smirks. "No need to ask what you've been up to."
Ralph tenses. You glare.
"What will you do when we arrive in New York?" he asks.
"Find a bottle of decent champagne," she grins, still upside-down. "And get Uncle Albert to buy me a new wardrobe."
Ralph watches her for a moment, calculating. She rolls her eyes when she gets sick of the staring contest and sits up.
"Alright," he finally says. He squeezes your hand and turns, and you follow.
"Where are you going, baby brother?" she pouts.
"To enjoy the company of my wife," he calls over his shoulder, not slowing his pace. You grin, imagining the look of shock on her snobby face when she works out what he's said.
Deciding you'd had enough exercise for the day, you return to your room. You sit on the bed and ponder the what comes next. What will the weather be like when you arrive? Will there be a media frenzy? Will Ralph's uncle be there waiting? What about your parents? How will you find them? How long until you can go home?
Pain flashes across Ralph's face at the mention of home.
"What is it, Ralph?" you ask, scooting closer.
"I'll have to cross the Atlantic again to get home," he whimpers. "What if I never stop being afraid? What if I can never go home again?" Ralph lets out a sob, and covers his face with his hands.
"Then we'll make our own home." You pull him to you, and he buries his face in your neck. "It's a big continent, Ralph. We'll go exploring and find a perfect place, just for us. Anywhere you want. Because home is wherever we're together."
You rub soothing circles on his back until he sits up with a final sniffle. You reach out to dry his cheeks.
"I love you, Ralph."
"I love you, too," he mutters.
"We're going to be alright."
He nods. You hold out your hand, and he takes it with a shaky smile. You lace your fingers together and squeeze. Everything is going to be alright, as long as you have each other.
You decide to skip lunch, but join Molly for dinner. She's made lots of new friends these last few days, and invites you to sit at a table full of other survivors. Mostly women. You can feel their eyes on your Ralph. It unsettles you both. You eat quickly, speak only when spoken to, and retreat back to your room as soon as possible. You sit on the bed, because there are no chairs.
Aunt Molly comes in right behind you, before you can discuss the awkward dinner, and perches on the edge of her own bed.
"I'm sorry," she apologizes. "Most of their men didn't make it. The officers wouldn't let them in the boats."
Ralph turns red.
"There were no more women in line," you argue. "The officer told him to get in. There were a several men on our boat. In others, too!"
"I know, don't go jumping down my throat," she says, putting her hands up. "I'm just telling you why you're getting odd looks."
Ralph's face is on fire.
"I can't wait to get off this ship," you mutter, blinking away tears. You will not feel guilty for getting to keep your love, even if others weren't so fortunate.
"Should be there in a few hours," she says softly. "I'm going back to the lounge to wait for news. I'll come get you as soon as we get there."
She gets up and heads toward the door.
"Aunt Molly?" you call.
She turns back, hand on the doorknob.
"We got married last night."
She smiles. "That's exactly the kind of good news I needed to hear. Congratulations."
You both mutter a "thank you", and her eyes light up.
"Oh, your mother's head is going to explode," she says excitedly. "Your payment for the trip will be making sure I'm there when you tell her. I have to see this. This is going to be more fun than hand-delivering the invitation to my own wedding!"
You laugh, and Molly winks. "I'll see you kids in a few hours."
When the door closes, you look to Ralph and grin.
"You know, Mr. Penbury…" you say mischievously. "My aunt has stated her intention to be away for several hours. I do believe that gives us time to officially consummate our marriage."
"It does, doesn't it?" he grins, eyes darkening.
"Unless you have a better way to spend our last few hours here?"
"Absolutely not," he says, mouth crashing against yours.
You were officially consummated and back to presentable when your aunt returned to the cabin to fetch you that night.
You wait in the lounge with the other first class survivors for what feels like an eternity. When you finally start moving, things become a blur. You hold tightly to Ralph's hand and follow him blindly through the pouring rain and the slippery walkways. You keep your head down, only vaguely aware of a large crowd on the dock and a lot of flashing cameras.
"Ralph!" Victoria's unmistakable voice cuts through the chaos. "Uncle Albert is here!"
Ralph shouts for Aunt Molly ahead of him, and the three of you make your way over to Victoria and Uncle Albert. Quick introductions are made, and Ralph's uncle leads you to a motorcar. You end up sitting on Ralph's lap. Aunt Molly and Victoria sit side by side, and Ralph's uncle sits up front with his driver.
The cameras continue flashing. You're grateful when the car begins to move. You look down at Ralph and reach out to wipe the raindrops off of his face. You're all soaked and shivering. The ride passes slowly and in silence, even with Victoria present. Apparently all her girlfriends were on their own. Had she even said goodbye to them?
You watch the buildings of New York pass by through the window, thankful to be back on solid ground with the people you love.
(And Victoria.)

Finders Keepers Ch 13. (Cormac McLaggen x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
Rating: Explicit 18+
Word Count: 5k
Warnings: A little bit of dry humping hehe
Summary: McLaggen takes you to the D.A. Headquarters
A/N: I won't admit how much time I spent on AirBNB looking up lighthouses. This chapter is lots of build-up but I promise the payoff will be worth it.
Masterlist
Tag list: @countlambula, @ratsys, @aweidlich, @navs-bhat, @stainedpomegranatelips, @chiaraanatra, @xxvelvetxxxx, @ohnoitsrosie, @dracosisteer, @daisydark, @intense-sneezing, @lipstickandloveletters, @ichorai (let me know if you want removed at any point btw!)
Chapter 13: Dunkirk
Salty sea air breaches your lungs once more and with a sickening stab, you’re reminded of Azkaban.
But the air here is warmer. You feel sun on your skin.
There’s no sun in Azkaban.
You blink, trying to get your bearings.
“Just a little further,” says McLaggen gently, squeezing your hand. It’s always felt small in his. Now it feels almost frail.
You’re atop a barren cliff. The sea glitters calmly on the horizon as the bright sun threatens to lower itself into the waves. Seagulls call to each other as the wind whips your face - their yewling sounds like laughing. You almost want to laugh too. But you’re not sure if they’re laughing with you or at you. You feel filthy compared to your fresh, open surroundings.
You feel the patchy grass under your bare feet as you walk towards the cliff’s edge.
“Cormac, where…?”
“Nearly there.” He stops. “I’m Secret Keeper for our headquarters. The Seafarer’s Beacon.”
As soon as he says the name of the place, the ground vibrates. A large, white object cracks the surface of the ground a few hundred feet away and keeps growing and growing upwards. Debris tumbles as an old lighthouse emerges, sprouting from the cliff like a giant beanstalk. With a shuddering halt, it stops and you gaze up at it, the towering building gleaming in the sunlight.
You gape, open-mouthed. “How did you find this place?”
“It’s my Uncle Tiberius’s. He gave it to us to use while he’s off in Brunei hunting Re’em. But with everything going on, he’s decided to make himself scarce and stay there.”
“And it’s safe? I mean, the Ministry isn’t going to come looking for us here?”
“Oh, they’ll be looking alright. But it’s protected by the Fidelius Charm. Unless the Secret Keeper - me - tells you about it, it’s invisible, unplottable. Impenetrable.”
“Yeah, I remember from the…“ Your N.E.W.T.s seem like they were a decade ago. “The Charms exam…” You trail off.
“They’re expecting us. They’ll be… God, they’ll be so happy to see you. So happy it worked,” says McLaggen as you approach the arched driftwood door of the lighthouse. He pushes down on the iron handle and the door opens into a vast, circular kitchen.
There’s shrieking and screeches of wood on tile that makes you jump out of your skin. Instinctively you shrink behind McLaggen, hiding away from the noise, gripping onto the soft fabric of his knitted jumper until your knuckles turn white.
“Be cool, yeah?” scolds McLaggen softly and silence falls.
You peer tentatively around his large frame to see Cho Chang, Katie Bell and Leanne Coombes all on their feet around a large wooden table - staring at you, chairs discarded behind them.
“Hi,” says Cho quietly, smiling warmly.
Cho.
You feel your throat constrict when you meet her eyes. Don’t be stupid. You know you should be thrilled to see them. To see them alive. And to see Cho here especially. But all you feel is frightened - your body’s flight or fight response is making every muscle in your body seize up.
You look down at your fists full of McLaggen’s jumper. They’re covered in dirt and grime. You quickly let go, feeling embarrassed to even be clutching on his clean clothes.
“I’ll show you where our room is,” says McLaggen, taking your hand again and making a stern ‘quieten down’ gesture with his other to the group that reminds you viscerally of his dad.
A circular staircase spirals around the wall of the lighthouse, leading upward. As you ascend the stairs, you see rooms leading off to the sides - something that would look impossible from the outside. But you’ve been in the magical world long enough not to dwell too long on the weird quirks of wizarding architecture.
McLaggen leads you to the master bedroom near the top of the tower. It’s beautiful. Coral pink with little circular windows like on a ship. There’s another open door off to the side of the room and you can see the gleaming white tile of a bathroom.
“Your things are here,” McLaggen tells you. Your backpack is on the bed next to a folded white towel.
“The Ministry didn’t take them?”
He shakes his head. You feel the fluffy texture of the towel under your dirty fingernails. McLaggen picks up your bag and unnecessarily opens the bathroom door wider for you. He touches your shoulder as you pass. But before you can stop yourself, you cringe away without really meaning to.
He pulls back apologetically.
“Sorry. I’m… I just feel disgusting.”
“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
You bring yourself to gaze up at him standing in the doorframe with his tousled hair and broad shoulders. Handsome as ever in the pink ambient light. Even if he looks more tired than you’ve ever seen him before, it’s ridiculous for him to call anyone else beautiful - not least you in your current state.
“Shut up, McLaggen.”
Unexpectedly, his face breaks into a wide, contagious smile that makes those gorgeous dimples appear - you can’t resist your mouth twisting into one too. You’re you. You’re still you. And he’s still him.
He gives you your backpack and you go to shut the door but pause, meeting his eyes again.
“Can you stay here?”
“Of course. Anything.”
Your throat tightens again so you just press the bathroom door shut. With a deep breath, you bring yourself to look in the mirror.
It’s worse than you’d pictured. Your eyes are deep hollows with dark circles underneath them. If McLaggen looked tired, you look positively haggard. Your hair is filthy, and unkempt. You try to run your hand through it to find your fingers halted by the tangles.
Unable to bear to look anymore, you turn on the shower, throw off your wretched Azkaban robes bitterly into the wastebin and step in. The water is warm. It might be the best sensation you’ve ever felt. You look down at your feet and with grim satisfaction, see the water turn murky. You turn up the heat until your skin feels raw. It’s like it’s heating you to your very bones. You’re not sure how long you stay there. Soapy suds of every colour make their way down the drain as one by one, you use every one of McLaggen’s Uncle’s fancy soaps and shampoos. Using a small nail brush, you scrub your fingernails, your toenails and, still feeling unsatisfied with how the memories of Azkaban linger on your skin, you scrub the rest of your skin inch by inch.
When you’re finally satisfied with your cleanliness, you find your clothes and toothbrush in your backpack and finish getting ready. Seeing yourself looking so tired and worn as you brush your teeth makes you want to cry. And when you think about crying you can’t stop the tears coming. You cry thinking about your parents. About the Holyhead Harpies. About Cho, Katie, Leanne and McLaggen hiding here. But most of all, you cry thinking about Eddie Carmichael.
You wonder if he’s still waiting for you to return, guessing what’s happened to you or if he’ll get news of your escape and wonder why nobody came for him too. You think about him looking out his cell window at the cold North Sea. You hope the German Shepherd visits him.
The German Shepherd.
You clutch the sides of the sink feeling dizzy. How could you have forgotten?
“McLaggen!” You shout urgently and he bursts through the bathroom door in a panic. You grab the front of his jumper, pleading. “McLaggen, the Patronus!”
“Yeah? What?”
“You need to send it!” You say frantically. “You need to send it right now to Eddie, please. Please, he’s alone. He needs it.”
His eyes widen in shock at your hysteria.
“Cormac - now. Please.”
“Yeah, I will. I’ll do it right now.”
He returns to the bedroom and waves his wand. The German Shepherd Patronus bursts from the tip and sits obediently.
“Go to Carmichael,” he tells it and waves his wand again. The Pantronus turns and with a leap disappears through the wall.
You breathe a sigh of relief and sit down on the bed, arms trembling as the sudden surge of panicked adrenaline leaves your body. “That’s… it?” you ask, feeling your heart rate coming back down to normal.
“I mean, it’s harder than it looks. But yeah... that’s it.”
With no idea where to begin, you lie back and stare at the round ceiling. The mattress feels soft under your aching back.
“Did you say this was ‘our’ room?” you ask.
“It doesn’t have to be,” he says quickly. “There’s lots of space. I can sleep somewhere else.”
“I don’t want to sleep alone ever again.”
McLaggen takes this as an invitation to join you on the bed. He finds your fingers resting on your stomach and laces his through them.
“Do you want to talk?”
“Not about Azkaban.” You turn your head to look at him. “Can you talk instead? Just… tell me what happened. From the start.”
“Well, I woke up and you were gone, obviously. I thought maybe you’d gone down for breakfast.”
You can picture it, McLaggen waking up and checking the guest room to find it hadn’t been slept in.
“My dad - “
“Was it planned?” The question on your lips that you’ve been holding right to your chest.
“No. I promise. We left the gate open so he never had time to get you out of there. He guessed that it was Thicknesse. So he just went along with it. To protect us.”
“To protect you,” you correct. “So he sacrificed me.”
“Yes.” He doesn’t deny it. “And whatever you want to say about him, say it. I’ve said it to him all already. You have no idea - no idea - how furious I was.”
Several rude names dance on the tip of your tongue but don’t say anything, you just look up at the ceiling.
“He never imagined you’d be sent to Azkaban. The legislation said they were supposed to just confiscate your wand. But with everything that happened with Cerys, she convinced her dad to push for the maximum sentence. So really, it’s my fault.”
“Cormac - “
“No, listen. It is. If I’d just kept my ego in check, left the pub and took you home we would never have been in this mess.”
“Cerys knew I was Muggleborn by that point,”
“But she had no reason to do anything about it until I attacked Flint.”
Cerys and Flint. You wonder if they had a good laugh when they saw your face all over the Daily Prophet.
“Anyway, after you were arrested, I had a big bust-up with my Dad and came here to cool off. Stay with my Uncle. It was pretty bad. We’re still not speaking.”
“But we just saw him?”
“Only because the plan made it necessary.” He continues, “So when I arrived my Uncle was packing up for Brunei. Tried to get me to come with. But I knew I had to stay - think of a way to get you out.”
You feel your chest swell a little. Deep down you always knew he was thinking about you. Even in your worst moments - a tiny part of you always knew.
“Uncle Tiberius gave me the keys and left, leaving me to do a lot of thinking. Until one day I was lying right here.” He lies back and stares at the ceiling with you, absently tracing circles with his fingers over the back of your hand. “And a Patronus came. A big white swan.”
“Whose?”
“It was Cho. I recognised it from the D.A. but I didn’t realise Patronuses could travel like that. I checked the window because I thought she must be outside. But then it spoke.”
“The Patronus spoke to you?”
“Yeah. And I recognised Cho’s voice. Said she, Katie and Leanne were safe and together and she asked if I knew about what happened to you. The problem was I had no idea how to reply. So I spent the next two weeks trying to figure out how the spell worked. But I was in pretty bad shape - not compared to your conditions, obviously!” He adds hastily, as if worried he’ll offend you.
“It’s okay. It’s not a competition. Though if it was I’d win,” you smile weakly.
“You would.” He squeezes your hand. “I was so sick with worry that I wasn’t able to cast a Patronus anymore. That is until one morning when I read in the Daily Prophet that three people had broken into the Ministry disguised as Ministry employees. And it got me thinking - what if I could use a Ministry employee to get into Azkaban?
“So finally, after so long, I had a happy thought. Happy enough to let me spend the rest of the day trying to send a Patronus long-distance with a message.”
“You never sent me a message,” you say, trying unsuccessfully to keep a note of accusation out of your voice.
“I had no idea what it was like in Azkaban. I didn’t know if you were being watched. Or who would hear it if I gave you information. I sent the first Patronus and then I checked the paper the next day. I thought if they suspected you of communicating with anyone outside they’d punish you. It was risky but…”
“It was worth it,” you reassure him, squeezing his hand. “Cormac, it saved my sanity, I’m sure of it. And Carmichael’s too.”
He nods. “So the same night I sent my Patronus to you, I sent one to Cho too. And we arranged for them to come here. We came up with a plan to get you out. A reason to get you back into the courtroom. And it had to be big enough for my dad himself to be involved.”
“You being held hostage by Dumbledore’s Army?”
“Yeah. I went back to mine and told my dad the plan. Nobody knew at the Ministry that my dad and I had fallen out. So the day I was meant to start work I just never turned up. And my dad played the distraught father extremely well. First, his son almost had his magic stolen, now he’d been kidnapped by Dumbledore's Army.”
“Why Dumbledore’s Army?”
“We knew Umbridge would be so incensed that we were back that she’d understand my dad wanting to drag you from Azkaban himself.”
What an awful, awful woman. Desperate to believe someone would take pleasure in another's misery as much as she would.
“Marietta told us about the D.A. sign-up sheet.”
“You’re in touch with Marietta?” Your heart leaps.
“Oh yeah. We’re desperate for her to come here but she knows she’s more useful on the inside.”
The inside. Marietta was playing her part so well that she had to watch her boyfriend being thrown into Azkaban with a straight face.
“Umbridge kept the D.A. sign-up sheet after all that time. You can imagine it was a bit of a shock for Marietta when she saw it.”
You imagine Marietta clearly in a lurid, pink office. In your head it’s identical to Umbridge’s office at Hogwarts, with fluffy kittens on decorative plates, their big, blue eyes watching as she rifled through drawers and found the cursed piece of parchment that scarred her for life.
“So we framed you… again. Marietta wrote your name on the paper.”
You nod. You had guessed that already.
“And then, well, I think you know the rest. My dad agreed to the plan - it was his idea to have me wipe his memory so that when they interrogate him he won’t know anything. And since your wand is gone, he said you could have his.”
“He did?” Your opinion of his dad softens slightly. It was extremely risky to have your memory modified. And his wand…
McLaggen nods. “Well, he can order a new one from overseas - Ollivander went missing too over the summer. Did you see him in Azkaban?”
You shake your head.
“Well, in that case, nobody knows where he is. And that brings us to here.”
You both lie quietly for a while staring at the ceiling as the sea laps gently against the cliffside - it’s peaceful, nothing like the waves crashing mercilessly against the rocks of Azkaban.
“What coast is that? Where even is ‘here’?”
“Do you want to see? There’s a good view from the top.”
The two of you get up and you follow McLaggen back out to the hallway. He points his wand and a step ladder drops down, leading to the top of the lighthouse.
“You first,” he says.
You raise your eyebrow.
“Not like that - it’s just steep.”
“Yeah, yeah…” You say and you take hold of the rungs.
“Well, I’m not complaining,” he says, watching your skirt disappear up and over onto the top floor.
When you get to your feet and see the view your breath hitches in your throat. You can’t remember the last time you saw this many colours. The sun has almost set completely by now. It gleams on the deep blue water, crimson light bouncing off the white cliffs.
“Is this… are we in Dover?”
McLaggen nods. “Yep, and that’s the English Channel.”
You look to the west and wonder if Carmichael is watching the sunset too.
“Why didn’t you pull Eddie out? I mean, I’m grateful you helped me. And I’m not blaming you. But his name was on the D.A. sheet too.”
“I know,” sighs McLaggen. “But I’ll say the same thing to you that I said to Marietta - if my dad had requested Umbridge to call both of you out for questioning, she would have sent more Ministry people to escort him. It would’ve been too difficult to pull off with both of you wandless.”
“Well, at least we’ve got a nice place to hide out while we think of a plan.”
McLaggen stays quiet.
“I mean, we’re getting Carmichael out too, right?”
He sighs heavily. “It was really the kind of plan that only works once.”
“Cormac, we need to do something.”
“I want to. But I’m all out of ideas. One breakout was nearly impossible but two? I don’t think it can be done.”
You chew your lip. If there was an obvious way to break someone out of Azkaban, you probably would have thought of it already.
McLaggen stands behind you as you look out to the horizon and slips his arms around your waist from behind. The way his warm body feels enveloped around you soothes you, making you feel safer than any protective enchantment.
He rests his chin on top of your head. “If you look over there -“ he points “- you can sometimes see France when it’s bright and clear.”
“It makes you forget how close it is, really. I’ve only ever seen it in old World War Two photos, y’know? All the little ships of Dunkirk going over.”
“The what?”
“You’ve never heard of Dunkirk?” You tilt your head up to look at him. “Oh, I’m not doing the story justice but basically, during the war, there were hundreds of thousands of British soldiers trapped on the beach at Dunkirk just… there.”
You point out to the East.
“The German Army was approaching from land, keeping them on the beach. And the water was too shallow for British destroyers to get near enough to rescue them. Big warships - do you know what they are?”
“A warship? Yeah, it’s pretty self-explanatory,” he grins.
“Right, sorry, anyway, all those soldiers were just stuck. So the Muggle Ministry put out a call for help to anyone who had a boat that could be used in shallow water. Loads of civilians turned up in canal boats, fishing boats, sailing boats - anyone and everyone who had a boat. Hundreds and hundreds of them went from England to France to start ferrying the soldiers back. Getting them all to safety.”
As you stand looking across the channel, you can picture all the little boats going out. The relief the soldiers must have felt when they saw help at last. The same overwhelming relief you felt when you saw you were standing in McLaggen’s parent’s house.
“That was brave of them.”
“Yeah.” You wipe your eye with the sleeve of your jumper. “Sorry, I keep welling up. I think I’m tired.”
“It’s a nice story. And you don’t need to keep apologising.”
McLaggen holds you tight against him while you watch the sun finally disappear into the sea. He kisses the top of your head. Your stomach grumbles.
“I’ve just realised I’m starving.”
“Do you want me to bring you some toast?”
Toast. It’s been so long since you thought about real food that you almost forgot about your favourite thing to eat. But he didn’t.
“I made sure we had plenty of bread for you coming back-”
The tiny gesture is the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard.
You turn and stop his train of thought with a kiss. You can’t help yourself. You link your arms around his neck and stand on your tiptoes to suck his bottom lip. He pulls you close by your hips, pressing his warm body into yours like a giant comfort blanket. When Cormac’s tongue enters your mouth, he does so tentatively, gently, as if worried he might be overstepping.
He isn’t.
His hands wander down the curve of your back and with more urgency than either of you had expected, you push him backwards to the cushioned window seat so you can straddle him.
Everything below your waist throbs. Burning, searing friction lights up your nerve endings as you sit on his lap. It’s the best feeling you’ve felt on your skin in two months.
You pause, pressing your forehead against his, lips barely touching and just breathing each others’ air. A sigh escapes your lips when feel his cock twitch under his jeans, pressing against your soaking-wet underwear.
He breathes deeply. “I’m really happy you’re here.”
“I thought that was just your wand in your pocket.”
He lets out an amused exhale and looks down between your bodies. “Sorry. You’ve barely been here two minutes. I shouldn’t -”
“You should.”
“Do you feel okay?” His eyes find yours again, full of concern.
“No,” you say truthfully. “But it doesn’t mean that I don’t want you to fuck me.” Your hands find his belt buckle and he takes a deep, steadying breath. “Didn’t you miss me?” You tease softly.
He cups your face and your working hands pause when you look at him. “I missed you, alright. But you were just crying thinking about boats.”
“I’m just - I’m scared something will happen and we won’t get to do this again.”
“We will. You’re safe here.” He brushes a strand of wet hair from your face. “We’re safe here.”
And you do feel safe here. With him. You kiss his neck, inhaling his heady scent that reminds you so vividly of that first Potions lesson with him. When you realised that you didn’t hate Cormac McLaggen. Not even a little bit.
Your hips push against his, chasing the friction of his cock against your clit. His hands grip the sides of your thighs, digging into your flesh and pulling you tight against him.
It feels like half of you has been missing. You never thought you’d feel his touch like this again.
There wasn’t a moment in Azkaban where you ever thought about sex. It was like the whole concept of sexuality disappeared into the void. In the dark, damp cell there were no sneaky thoughts of touching yourself or pleasant dreams of a romantic reunion with Cormac. Just emptiness. All-consuming, never-ending emptiness. At your lowest moments part of you thought you’d never deserve to feel like this again.
His grip loosens on you and you realise you’ve stopped moving your hips. It’s only when his lips meet the wet corner of your eye that you even register you’re crying.
“Hey… I think you need sleep. And food,” he murmurs in your ear.
You nod, pulling back to wipe your eyes again. His eyebrows raise a bit as he studies your tired face.
“Why don’t you go to bed and I’ll bring you something?”
It’s tempting. You’re, frankly, exhausted. But by McLaggen’s account, they’ve all spent the past few weeks holed up here cooking up a plan to get you out of Azkaban. The least you can do is show your face.
“It’s okay. I’ll come down with you. See the rest of them.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katie, Leanne and Cho lift their heads up when they hear two sets of footsteps coming downstairs.
“Hi,” you say, slightly awkwardly after your last entrance but the way Cho looks at you makes you feel less nervous. She pats the chair beside her. Your best friend doesn’t need to ask how you’re doing. She just knows.
“Feeling better?” asks Katie with a sympathetic smile and you nod, not sure how to verbalise the mix up of emotions inside your head.
You sit beside Cho at the kitchen table and lean your head on her shoulder while McLaggen busies himself, making you toast.
“Is it just the four of you? Have you heard news from anywhere else?”
“Just us. We’ve had bits of news here and there. Oliver Wood and a couple of others are hiding out in Puddlemere,” says Katie. “The whole league’s been called off.”
“It has?” You brighten up a bit at this. For weeks you had been imagining Cerys leading the Holyhead Harpies to a gloating victory.
“Yeah - there were riots in the crowds when players started disappearing. Gone into hiding or worse.”
“What about any Ravenclaws?” You lift your head and ask Cho. “Any sign of them?”
“Last I heard Rodger Davies was still living in France, playing Quidditch for Lyon. Probably best he keeps it that way.”
“And Hufflepuff? What about Smith?” you ask Leanne.
You don’t fail to notice how McLaggen pauses buttering your toast briefly at the mention of Zacharias Smith so he can listen in.
“Nope, we’ve heard nothing,” says Leanne and he resumes. “Not even on Potterwatch.”
“Potterwatch?”
“Lee Jordan does this show on the Wizarding Wireless Network. It’s all underground, top secret so it’s pretty unpredictable trying to find out when it’s on but we still check the radio every night.”
“What about Potter, Weasley and Granger?”
“Well,” says McLaggen, pulling up a chair on your other side and placing the plate of toast in front of you. “We think they were responsible for the Ministry break-in but the Ministry don’t want to admit it.”
Your stomach growls again and you pick up the buttery toast gratefully. It smells like heaven. And it’s hot - the first hot food you’ve had in a long time.
“So what else have you been up to?” you ask and take a bite out of the corner.
“Aside from getting you out of Azkaban?” asks McLaggen with a wry smile. You squeeze his leg with your free hand apologetically. “Well, we stay inside the perimeter of the Fidelius Charm as much as we can. Leanne’s popped out once to the local muggle shop to get food but we’re careful not to use magic or draw attention to ourselves.”
“Cormac volunteered to go but was so blown away by paper money we thought it best that I went instead,” explains Leanne.
“It doesn’t make any sense. What’s the difference between that and a piece of parchment? And the shape of the coins? Muggle money is just plain weird.”
Muggles.
“Oh my god, my parents…” You almost drop your toast.
“It’s alright, they know you’re safe,” says Cho. “We sent them an owl.”
“An owl? Whose?”
“Yours. They sent you a letter when I was still at mine and we’ve been writing back and forth. They know the basics - that you were wrongfully arrested and we were trying to get you out. I didn’t want to frighten them with the details,” says McLaggen.
You nod. “Thank you.”
There’ll be plenty of time to tell them later. When all of this is over.
If it’s ever over.
You look around the vast, circular kitchen, wondering how long you’ll have to stay here. If there will ever be an end to this regime. And then your eyes find something you thought you’d never see again, in a pile by the back door.
“Is that my broom?” Your heart sings. More than losing your wand, you worried if you’d ever see your Cleansweep Eleven again.
“Yeah, I brought them with our stuff. We can’t fly too high or outside the boundary but I thought you might want it here.”
You recognise the singed tail of McLaggen’s Nimbus 2001 and notice Cho’s too. The other two must be Katie and Leanne’s. Suddenly you feel excitement bubbling in your stomach as an idea, a very stupid, reckless idea forms in your mind.
“Do you remember the mass breakout from Azkaban last year?” You clear your throat, trying to steady your voice. “How did You-Know-Who get all those Death Eaters out?”
“No idea,” says McLaggen. “And trust me, we’ve thought about it a lot. Azkaban is impossible to find. It’s unplottable.”
“Like here?”
“Not exactly. There are protective charms of some kind but there can’t be a Secret Keeper - too many people know about it. Too many employees going in and out.”
“Would it still be unplottable if you’d been inside it?”
They look at each other uncertainly.
“I’m not sure…” says Cho, thoughtfully. “I mean, Leanne, you were able to find your way back here after you left the boundary, right?”
“Yeah, it sprung right up,” says Leanne.
You feel your hands trembling so you put down your toast. “You three all went to Muggle primary schools, right?”
Leanne, Katie and Cho look at each other confused. They nod.
“What do you know about Dunkirk?”
Seamus' face turned quickly from surprise to laughter as what his best friend had just said. Dean chuckled along, starting to jog lightly ahead of him.
"We're gonna be late, Seamus!"
The shorter boy snorted. "Give me a reason to care." He didn't bother picking up his pace. "Just walk with me, will you?"
Dean made a show of rolling his eyes but ran back up the hill to meet his roommate. They kept walking towards the quidditch pitch, hands hanging carelessly at their sides. Seamus blushed as his pale fingers brushed those of his dark-skinned friend. not just a friend, a part of his brain tried to correct him.
But Seamus was jolted back to reality as the duo reached the bottom of the hill and a flash of red hair stepped into Dean's waiting arms. The Irish man had to look away as his roommate's lips met those of his girlfriend.
"I was wondering if you would end up showing."
"I always do." Dean stepped away.
"Just with less time to spare every day." She threw her sweaty hair in a ponytail. "Hey Seamus."
"Hey, Ginny. Good to see you." Seamus sported a weak smile. He liked the youngest Weasley, he really did, but he had a hard time not resenting her when she's got the boy he's sure he loves wrapped around her finger.
"Can we head up?" Once again, Seamus was brought back to his current position by Ginny Weasley's voice.
"Sounds good to me, Seamus you coming?" Dean grabbed his girlfriend's hand, not unnoticed by Seamus.
"Uh, no you go on ahead I'll meet you back in the tower."
Dean and Ginny exchanged a glance. "Are you sure? You're welcome to walk with us."
"Yeah, I've got something I've got to take care of, I just remembered."
"Alright mate," Dean seemed to accept his answer. "See you up there." He turned, slipping his arm around Ginny's waist, and they headed up toward the brightly lit castle.
Seamus walked the other way. He thought he'd sit in the locker rooms for a minute and just collect his thoughts. He had to get a hold of himself.
The sixth year sat down heavily on a bench right outside the pitch, staring off into the darkening sky.
"You okay?" A brighter female voice spoke this time.
Seamus looked up into the concerned eyes of Katie Bell, who's hair was thrown haphazardly into a do similar to Ginny's. "Oh yeah, I'm good. Sorry, just... enjoying the weather." The lie was awkward but Seamus hoped Katie didn't notice.
Clearly, she saw right through him, though he wasn't sure she could read what exactly he was thinking. "Well I was just about to head back up to the common room, d'you want to walk with me?"
"Sure." He stood and they began to walk. After a moment or two of heavy silence, Seamus spoke up again. "Um, Katie. This is awkward but I was wondering if you might want to go with me to the next Hogsmeade weekend."
She looked over at him, studying him for a long time without responding. He shifted.
"No."
He just stared back at her, his cheeks starting to heat.
"You're hot Seamus, sure, and I know I'm hot, but you're not interested in me."
"What? Of course I am! You're beautiful and you have nice tits and..." He trailed off, looking at the ground. "I'm sorry, I can't do this."
"Exactly. I can't be a distraction for you." Katie looked up the hill to where Dean and Ginny had reached the castle. "How long have you liked Thomas?"
Seamus looked up sharply. "What?"
Katie just rolled her eyes. "I don't know you very well, Seamus, but I can tell. You've fallen hard for Dean."
A moment of silence and Seamus sighed heavily. "So what if I have. There's nothing I can do about it."
"I'd say not asking girls out when you know you're gay would be a pretty good start."
"Noted." He glanced up at her.
"And for what it's worth, Dean and Ginny aren't going to last. You'll have your chance with him soon enough."
A foreign glimmer of hope rose in Seamus' chest. "What makes you say that?"
"I've seen Ginny at practice, she's worse off than you, pining for Harry. She'll never be happy with anyone else. That and Dean treats her too much like a lady, that's not the kind of person she needs."
"I wouldn't mind being treated like a lady." A soft grin rose on his face.
"Just give it time."
The rock underneath your palms scratch and itch at your skin, the waves push you around, making your body hit the boulder you're currently hiding behind. Your skin might be irritated by the rough surface but the pain is all worth it. The sound of the string instrument is better than anything you've heard under the tides, even more so when it's accompanied by the stranger's sweet singing voice. It's soft and solemn, lyrics as salty as the sea you live in, you wonder why he sings it with such anger and loneliness when the music he's strumming is upbeat and as thunderous as the storm looming above the clouds.
You're tethering close to oblivion whenever you watch the handsome stranger sing his songs and play his lullabies. You've been taught that he's a danger to your kind, that he'd hunt you down the moment you reveal yourself. But how could his hands that play with such gentleness cause harm to you? You whose only desire is to listen to his otherworldly songs.
The waves lap at your back harshly, pushing and pushing you until the rock could barely shield you from his view. The sky has turned grey and dark, wind blowing loudly in every direction— You hate it for it prevents you from hearing the full tune. Nails digging into the jagged boulder, you don't anticipate the large wave heading your way. In a second, you're pulled under the tides, tossing and tumbling you like you're stuck in a whirlpool of salt. In a single breath, your palms hit rough sand. In a beat, you look up to see his handsome face staring down at you with a shocked face. You worry. And you frantically try to get back to land but your tail dragging behind you prevents you from doing it hastily.
In a twist of fate, the musician helps you, hands reaching down, asking for permission to hold you.
“Hello,” he says, “Do you need help?” His speaking voice is as deep as his singing, and yet sweeter than anything you've ever encountered.
“You're not going to k-kill me?” You utter, hand reaching up shakily, trepidation molds around your fins.
He smiles, brightening up the stormy beach. “No, when a beautiful mythical being washes up next to you on the beach you'd think it's a blessin’. Why would I kill a blessin'?”
You find no lie or nefarious intentions in his words. “You think I'm a blessing?”
“A gift more like,” he sits down next to you, a considerable act to prevent your neck from aching. You thank him silently. “A gift from the sea. A fleeting gift, but a gift nonetheless. Who am I to deny good luck?” His grey eyes shine amidst the growing darkness, lips curled into a soft smile. “My name's Hobie, what's yours?”
“Hobie,” you say it again, tasting the name in your tongue.
“Aye, that's my name,” he nods, chuckling, “do you have one? I don't know anythin' about your kind except that you lot have gorgeous tails.” He doesn't roam his eyes over your body in respect for you who probably doesn't want to be ogled. “And that you bring storms.” As he says it, thunder rolls above the beach.
You sit up, an act harder than swimming against the waves. “We have names, it's—”
Someone yells for him, Hobie looks back towards the road, and you immediately escape before other people can see you. A splash can be heard and you're gone. Hobie watches your shiny tail peek from atop the water before you disappear under the depths.
He laughs in bewilderment, hands on his head, chuckling to himself. After the fateful encounter Hobie keeps on coming back to the beach on the same spot he met you. He brings his guitar everyday, and everyday he sings different songs in an attempt to summon you again. By some miracle, you come back. Still hidden by the rocks but you're there, he can tell by how the sky darkens, and how lightning strikes across the clouds. So he puts on a show for you, only for your eyes and ears.
Day by day, you get closer to him. Before you hid behind rocks but now you're close to the beach, sand in-between your fingers, eyes wide and curious at the new instrument he has brought with him together with his own.
You tilt your head at the string instrument, the strings are longer and the frame is coated in deep silver. Hobie stays seated in the same spot, watching you eye your gift.
“It's called a harp,” he sees you silently mouth the word. “And it's for you.”
You turn your head towards him lightning quick, just from your movement a lightning hits the water. “Mine?”
“Yes, yours. A gift deserves a gift, yeah?” Hobie sees a smile slowly spread across your face, and almost immediately, the sun appears behind the dark clouds. “Come try it out?”
“Are you sure?” You slowly crawl over to him. Iridescent scales revealed from under the waves, sunlight reflecting off the colourful tail.
His breath gets stuck in his throat. “Yes.”
You stare at your reflection from the shiny metal of the harp, wide eyes staring back at you as you pluck a string, the sound making you giggle. Your laughter is better than any music Hobie has ever heard.
“Will you teach me?” You ask bashfully, voice small, yet your smile stays.
“Of course,” Hobie nods, leaning down, chin laying on his arm. “Anythin' for my blessin’”
You watch yourself in his grey eyes, a colour you once hated but now loved more than ever. “My name is Y/N.” You say, awestruck by the man before you who looks at you with fondness.
“Y/N,” he tests your name on his tongue to remember it until the end of his days. “Can you sing, Y/N?”
You could only nod, sitting up, hands grasping your new instrument close to your hearts.
He's besotted, “I'll teach you anythin’ you want.” There's hope in his heart that you'll stay long enough for a duet.
Island of the slaughtered *Spoilers*
On tik tok, somebody made a total drama horror au called Island of the slaughtered. Where Chris pretty much leaves the campers to fend themselves by a killer whom picks them off one by one. Chris returns and sees the horror. There are theories out there on who was the killer and whether or not, it could be someone we know. However my favourite theory that the killer or killers are Alejandro and Seirra. I decided that I wanted to expand this specific theory by guessing whom Alejandro and Seirra killed and why.
Before we start the theory, I have to mentioned whom were the victims and how they died. The victims are Ezekiel, his body parts was cut into pieces and are scattered around the island. His head was found by Geoff. Sadie who was attacked by the killer whom lured wolves to eat her alive while Katie is watching. Lindsay gets pushed off the cliff where Beth ends up finding her with her mouth sewn shut and her eye is hanging out of its socket. Beth is killed in the daylight where she sheepishly smiles at the killer, the killer grabs her by the ponytail and smashes her head on a rock. The killer also rips her braces off. Noah is stabbed and drowned in the lake. Heather gets decapitated and her head is put in the freezer. Bridgette is thrown in the pit of fire. Owen and Geoff are sewn together. Justin's face is peeled off. Harold gets his head smashed in a tv. Courtney's legs are broken and she is beaten to death. Tyler is put in a rack where he is stretched and ripped apart. Trent gets caught in a bear trap and is impaled by fish hooks. DJ is pushed by the killer where tumbles on his way there.
Now, we got the victims, let's start with whom would killed which camper by Alejandro or Seirra. The first victim we'll start with is Ezekiel. Zeke is chopped into pieces where his body parts is scattered around the island. Alejandro and Seirra don't have interactions with Ezekiel due to his first elimination and Alejandro used him to attack Heather when he feral during World Tour. The creator made these rules in a way to survive them. Ezekiel's one is him wanting to play hide and seek. Where he want someone to find specific body parts. It mentions something interesting where it says that Ezekiel's favourite game was hide and seek. Which feels like something that Seirra would know. I believe this is supposed to set in 2007 around the time Total Drama Island was aired. So, If Seirra is the killer, she can also be seen as a stalker. Also it's worth noting that Alejandro and Seirra can be seen as equally strong. I believe that Ezekiel's death was caused by Seirra.
The next victim is Lindsay. Lindsay only has a few interactions with Alejandro and even help him during the finals along with Courtney in World Tour. During the series, due to her naivety, Lindsay trusts people she shouldn't like how Heather treated her poorly but she didn't see the problem until Heather caused her elimination. Lindsay will trust people like Alejandro whom is attractive and was new to total drama which he used that as his advantage. When Lindsay is found, her mouth is sewn shut. This is possible dur to her accidentally telling things that she shouldn't since she doesn't think with her head. Like how I mentioned that Seirra would've had the information that Ezekiel's favourite game was hide and seek. Seirra probably analysing and looked into about Lindsay. Now, even though I kept mentioning Alejandro, I think this death would be caused by Seirra. The scenario involves a chase scene and to be honest, I see Seirra doing them mostly.
The third victim is Sadie and I'm going give this death to Alejandro. While yes, Sadie's one does involve a chase, her death consists of her being fed to the wolves. If you forgot during World Tour and All Stars , Alejandro is shown to be a charmer towards any species, this includes animals. So, Alejandro using animals to do his dirty work isn't that far off. Alejandro never had any interactions with Sadie, but she did root for him to win in World Tour. So that's only connection between them.
The four victim will be talking about is Justin and his death involves his face getting skinned alive. Since the moment, Justin stepped on the island, girls, animals and Owen was so memorised by him. Justin is eliminated earlier in total drama, ironically he was the fourth camper to be voted off. Justin has more scenes in Total Drama Action due to him being the 1 of 2 villains. Justin used his beauty to make Lindsay and Beth do his dirtywork. Until his face gets "deformed" and the magic he had fades away. I was going back and forth with one, but I am going to give this death to Alejandro. The scenario involves the group walking to the camp-site and the killer grabs Justin without anyone noticing. I feel like Alejandro would be more stealthy and quiet than Seirra.
The fifth victim is Beth and her death is pretty brutal because involves getting her braces being torn off. Beth dies in the middle of the day and is likely away from the group. Where she sees the killer and gives them a sheepishly smile which resulted them to grab her by the ponytail and smashes her head on a rock. Than it ends with her braces off. Like many, Beth is another character that Alejandro and Seirra never interacted with her since she never participated in World Tour or All stars. However I believe that this kill is Seirra's. I know that I said Alejandro and Seirra can be seen as equally strong but Seirra appears to have like superhuman strength. In the caption of the video, it mentions Chris not liking Beth which is shown in every scene that Beth has with Chris and the only person that would know this is Seirra. Seirra being the hyper obsessed fan watched island and action many times and has analysed the campers especially how Chris interacts with each of them.
The sixth victim is Tyler and his death involves a chase scene and I think this one a two person job not because Tyler would be strong that they need both but it seems like Tyler runs around the island so at some point he would trip over in front of the killer whom was just behind him. This could also be seen as the killer as having teleportation if you're expecting one killer. I think the killer that is chasing him is Seirra while Killer that actually catches him is Alejandro. Tyler is dragged to a shed and gets raked. This is in reference in the London episode in World Tour where Tyler is put on the rack in order to get the next clue for his team. Alejandro wasn't there but he did watched everything meanwhile Seirra was captured by Jack the Ripper with Cody during that time. So I think that Tyler was killed by Alejandro.
The seventh victim is Noah who gets strangled and stabbed by the killer than it ends with him being drown in the lake. When it comes to Noah's interaction. He most likely interacted with Alejandro due to them being on the same team in World Tour. Noah was one of the few next to Heather whom knew something was up about Alejandro and didn't trust him. Noah's interaction with Seirra involves whenever she shows her obsession with Cody like how she says that she called his aunt to find out that Cody sleeps with a toy animal. Seirra actually strangled Owen during the fight in Greece so I think this kill goes to Seirra.
The eighth victim is Bridgette. Her death involves a chase scene during it, Harold trips over and Bridgette goes and helps him since she's a nice person however the killer ends up grabbing Bridgette by the shoulder and throwing her in the fire pit resulting her to be burn alive. In World Tour, Bridgette was the first girl whom Alejandro manipulated and used to get further in the game. Alejandro leaves her where he tricked her into kissing again where her tongue gets stuck in a pole since they're in the Yukon. My reasoning as to why I would give Bridgette's death to Alejandro is because it's kind of reminiscing to what happened in Yukon except this time, instead of cold, it's fire.
The ninth and tenth victim is Geoff and Owen, yeah we have a duo this time. So the scenario goes Gwen gets an allergic reaction so Geoff and Owen volunteered to go the medical tent. Owen's stomach growls which alerts the killer. The killers knocks Owen unconscious while Geoff is stabbed and killed. While unconscious, the killers chop Geoff's head off and sew them together. Owen has a lot of interactions with Alejandro since they were in the same team during World Tour. During the series, Owen constantly called him 'Al' and due to hyper active and being excited all the time really annoyed Alejandro. When it comes to Seirra, they rarely have interactions and most of them involves Seirra physical hurting Owen. So I'm going to give Seirra to be the one to knock Owen's unconscious. Geoff never participated in World Tour but does not like Alejando since Bridgette cheated on him with Alejandro. However since Geoff is similar to Owen, it is likely that Alejandro would hate him. So I think that Alejandro killing Geoff would make the most sense.
The eleventh victim is DJ and his death is not that long to Geoff and Owen's. Worried that Geoff and Owen haven't returned, DJ along with Cody go and check out. When they get to the medical tent, the killer exists resulting a chase scene. The killer decide to go after DJ while running, he pushed and tumble over to his death. DJ'S most interaction is with Alejandro. In World Tour, at some point DJ is the only person on his team which gives Alejandro an opportunity to take down the last member of Team Victory. Seirra's interaction is her kicking him off a platform during the challenge in Germany, however I am going to give DJ'S death to Alejandro. For one, let's say there are two killers than Seirra is still in the medical tent finishing sewing Geoff's head on Owen's body and between the two killers, Seirra looks like the type that would excel in sewing. Which leaves Alejandro to chase DJ or Cody. I think he chose DJ out of random.
The twelve victim is Trent and his is a bit tricky. Trent and Gwen are walking, Trent's leg gets stuck in a bear trap and Gwen tries to get out, however she hears shuffling and her flight mode kicked in where she leaves Trent. Trent gets impaled by fish spears and hung by his fish hook through his neck. The reason why this is tricky is because Trent never had any interactions with Alejandro or Seirra nor has connections. The question we need to ask is who would most likely to put the bear trap because there's no way a bear trap is lying there. The bear trap was set to have one of the campers get caught in it and Trent ended up being the victim. Going back and forth, I am going to give this kill to Seirra. I'm not sure why, it's possible that Alejandro can also kill Trent.
The thirteen victim is Harold. Harold is tired and pretty much snaps while everyone is sleeping he goes to the toolshed to find weapon. While being there, the killer sneaks up on Harold and grabs him by the neck, struggling to get free, the killer slams Harold's head hard on the table possibly a few times and it ends with the killer shoving Harold's head in an old cable TV. Harold only had one interaction with Alejandro whom manipulated him into voting himself off in World Tour. It is most likely that this would be a kill that Alejandro would do especially how the killer was sneaking behind feels similar to how Justin got kidnapped.
The fourteenth victim is Courtney. The campers are sleeping where killer picks a camper to take and that camper being Courtney. The killer breaks both of her legs preventing her from running away. She is beaten to death than is hung on the stage with hooks. She's also in dance position. I am gonna give this kill to Alejandro. Courtney was another girl whom Alejandro manipulated in order to get further in the game. During the "this is how we would end it", you see a puppet Courtney whom is moved by force like she is dancing against her will.
The last victim is Heather. Heather’s death involves getting her head being cut off. Her head is put in a freezer because the killer believe she was too pretty. This killer has Alejandro written all over. I think you know why.
So that's my extended theory, Seirra killed Ezekiel, Lindsay, Beth,Noah, Owen and Geoff and Trent. While Alejandro killed Sadie, Justin, Tyler, Geoff and Owen, DJ, Harold, Courtney and Heather.
