Favorite Albums: choose 9 and then tag 9 people!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my own sanity, I didn't include musicals because I could fill up a whole other 3x3 grid with them, and comparing musicals to non-musical theater albums is weird.
Those last 4 that you definitely don't recognize are by Old Earth who you should definitely listen to if you want artsy ambient indie folk with really intricate guitar. My absolute favorite artist by far, and also the most obscure artist I listen to by far.
Electric by The Pet Shop Boys — I think this is my favorite album period. I am still pissed off that Tom Scott called it "not that great" in the old Technical Difficulties podcast. Maybe I'm biased because it was my favorite album when I was 14 and because it's where I really fell in love with the Pet Shop Boys. God I love them. So much. I'm way too excited for the new album and I worship geowayne's website where he analyzes all their songs. I probably should have put another PSB album on here, but there isn't another where I'm in love with every track. Plus honestly so many of my favorite tracks of theirs are B sides. They still release B sides with their singles, and this album cycle, the B sides are honestly better than the actual singles. Anyway electric is pure synthy electropop and I adore it in that way you can only love something you first heard at 14.
Pure Heroine by Lorde — I read a quote somewhere where Lorde said she tried to really put all of being a teenager into the album, so much so that once she became an adult, she probably wouldn't understand or like it anymore. I can definitely say that I'm not nearly as attached to it anymore now that I'm an adult, but God, it was my life when I was 13. She really did capture the unique ennui of being a teenager. I wrote a novel in eighth grade, and I wrote at least half of it to tracks from this album. Also, hot take: Royals is my least favorite track by a lot. Buzzcut Season is my favorite.
My Head is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men — God, this one was my life when I was like, 12. I fell in love with folk there, and I'm still in love nearly a decade later. Another album where I still love every track.
Strange Trails by Lord Huron — hey look, an album I actually discovered and came to love as an adult! The fact that I love Lord Huron's brand of folky horror/fantasy/western music that tell stories with characters should not surprise anyone. Also, if I had to describe my experience with schizophrenia in one song, I'd choose Meet Me in the Woods.
The Tragic Treasury by The Gothic Archies — Look. Hear me out. Is it a album based purely on A Series of Unfortunate Events? Yes. But. Is it also an album where I genuinely love every track and have genuinely been known to just throw it on shuffle? Yes. I mean I think of one lyric from this album, like, weekly. I swear it's not just ASOUE brainrot that makes me like it so much. If it'd ever gotten a vinyl release, I'd absolutely own it. I wish it had gotten one.
a low place at The Old Place by Old Earth — honestly this is probably only my favorite Old Earth album because it's the one that I was able to actually get on vinyl and being able to play that vinyl is so lovely. I mean, it's good, but so is everything by Old Earth. Then again, Less Words is my favorite single track by them and it is on this album. Look. All the Old Earth albums I've listed here are, at most, 20 minutes long. If you like ambient artsy indie folk with lyrics that are there more for the way they sound than their meaning, try one.
light shaped by Old Earth — god the lyrics to this one. Normally I don't like Old Earth for the lyrics but. "It gets old/then it's done" and "what if it's just some song that gets you home" and especially "I'm holding your arms/and you're holding my eyes/and I lie like the right thing to do" are all just so great. And so is the middle track with no lyrics.
... until they're called by Old Earth — have you ever heard an album so good that you a) just played the whole thing and danced to it in your basement nonstop for the full 12 minutes, and then b) wrote a poem about the experience? People talk about finding God, but dancing to that album was the moment I found athiesm. The beauty of us all being here for no reason, just feeling things and living and doing our best to make something beautiful out of it.
Two Torches, at a Place Where Three Roads Meet by Old Earth — I'll be honest, I don't have much to say about this one. They're just a really solid three tracks.
... Yeah okay I really like Old Earth. Don't judge me.
Thank you @cygninae and @thehistoryone for tagging me! I'll tag @ven10 (I'm surprised neither of the people who tagged me tagged you), @weirdthoughtsandideas (ditto), @70snasagay (hmmmm i wonder what you'll put), @cat-boy-tom, @thetreetzar, @buncoreclown, @notthatalex, @unfortunate-sapphic-disaster, and @roach-in-the-kitchen. No pressure, obviously!

so i used to say vide noir was my favourite lord huron album because it is the most atmospheric of their albums and this is obviously a big part of it because vide noir is atmospheric as shit but honestly now i think it is less vide noir’s atmosphere and more its brilliant and uniquely insane batshit intensity that makes it such a special part of the lord huron discography.
can you imagine if you were listening to lonesome dreams and you heard a lyric like “cosmic ash and blackened brain i call you by your ancient names” youd have a heart attack lord huron have always been very emotionally intense but the way they took their gentle folk inspired melancholic beautiful cowboy sounds of love and heartbreak and strange happenings and turned it up to the raging neon scream into the darkness that is vide noir is quite possibly the most iconic thing any band has ever done. i know we have setting sun in lonesome dreams and that song is gorgeous and intense but it is just not the same kind of intense. you get your heart broken in strange trails and its “i dont know what to do haunted by the ghost of you” and how do i break the curse you left on me and runes on my skin and shit thats bad gang but you get your heart broken in vide noir and your soul gets hurled to the edge of the cosmos then plummets back into the ocean through a fucking hole in the fucking sky what the FUCK guys what the FUCK. i love playing vide noir all the time because this is my favourite framework through which to view my lived experience everything is so heightened and bright and loud and dramatic and imagining the world around you that way is just so magical. we start vide noir with “if i don’t find her i’m gonna tie that noose” we are promised a depth of love that stops at nothing and is no holds barred and bloody and raw and god does the album deliver on that promise every fucking second that follows. its the feeling of following your heart through its deepest darkest most twisted strange and unfamiliar paths without having any idea where its going, just to know what it has in store for you, because thats how committed you are to following it. there is no equivalent. sorry to say something a little sacreligous but vide noir makes the world ender look like skipping in the park like the world ender is pretty metal when the world ender comes baby run for your life and whatever but in vide noir we are trying to outrun the fucking pure black void im sorry but thats horrifying.
going from the ethereal, dreamy vision of the unknown in the yawning grave and frozen pines to vide’s something escaped when you opened the gate and now the unknown is everywhere and we’re drowning in it is just. its everything. this is not to disrespect the world ender or strange trails or any of the other songs and albums because the day i take any of that for granted i will cease to exist (esp the world ender that song owns my entire heart and soul). all of the albums and songs have something so unique to them and special about them which makes them completely irreplaceable. i only aim to argue that in the realm of intensity and insanity, vide noir is king. i am also intense and insane and i am its subject. hence irresistible fave

tag game, tagged by @your-local-charlatan - thanks! :)
tag up to 9 people you want to get to know better!
favorite color - love shades of gray and black, and dark rich shades of pretty much any color
currently reading - nothing right now, honestly, but the last thing I finished was Gallant by V.E. Schwab
last song - was listening to Lord Huron’s Strange Trails album, one of my favorites
last series - Derry Girls! I adore this show, and I just finished a rewatch. Sister Michael is an icon, and the ending of each season breaks me each time.
last movie - Nope! so so fucking good, if you can stomach horror, please please go and see it, it is absolutely worth it
sweet / savory / spicy
currently working on - i started the next chapter of bitter like whiskey, sweet like wine, and getting that out soon is my goal. i’ve also had a few ideas for jim/oluwande/spanish jackie fics on the brain too. but my goal is to finish bitter like whiskey before Season Two of OFMD came out, and i’m going to try and stick with that
thanks again! tagging @thetragicallynerdy, @yerbamansa @assignedknivesatbirth,  @knifewieldingenby, @nyxisadyke @hairasuntouchedaspartoftheamazon, and whoever else wants to give it a go!

I’m trying to make my own AW2 playlist of chapter ending songs—do you have any recommendations? Feel like we’re similarly obsessed with the spiral…
Thnx for your question! And well yeah I might be a bit obsessed with the spiral/loops and its endless possibilities & scenarios that could've been 👀
Besides the official ending songs the game already provides, there are some other songs that give me general AW/AW2 vibes or specific feels for certain characters! I've been pondering about songs to share for a while, so this is a great opportunity! Thnx again for the ask!
Also feel free to share your own songs in my inbox if you feel like it :D
It's gonna be a long post so buckle up 😅
This is the moment to share my love for Lord Huron, specifically their Strange Trails album but also Vide Noir one.
Strange Trails is, to me, an album about being lost and cursed and it's about love. Honestly, I don't think The Night We Met is a good representative about the entire album.
Meet Me In The Woods
This entire song just screams Alan Wake to me.
I took a little journey to the unknown, And I come back changed. I can feel it in my bones. I fucked with forces that our eyes can't see. Now the darkness got a hold on me.
(...)
How long, baby, have I been away? Oh, it feels like ages though you say it's only days. There ain't language for the things I've seen. And the truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
(...)
I have seen what the darkness does. Said goodbye to who I was. I ain't never been away so long. Don't look back them days are gone. Follow me into the endless night. I can bring your fears to life. Show me yours and I'll show you mine. Meet me in the woods tonight.
Like, how can you read those lyrics and not think about our boy Alan.
2. Way Out There
Drifting in a land time forgot If you think that I've changed, you know me not I belong bodily to the earth I'm just wearing old bones from those that came first I been unraveling since my birth
Those lyrics and partially the song in general remind me of Alan in the Dark Place trying to escape. How many loops has he been through? (Thus in this context, kind of wearing 'old bones from those who came first, aka older iterations of Alan himself) Also, the theremin they use is so fitting and it's an instrument often used in horror movies so <3
3. Vide Noir (both album itself & song)
Where can you go when it’s all in your head? These are the last words that I ever said Where can you go when it’s all in your head? These are the last words that I ever said
Tbh, this album also gives off major Control vibes with its themes and songs about the Astral plane & the black void. Many other songs on the album talk about the main character getting lost and drifting in-between time/space and living/dying
4. War by Poets of the Fall
You might be familiar with the song already and its music video 👀
I like how all the Poets were involved in the video as Taken (have you seen BTS shots of Olli with a fake beard?!!) Anyways, the song makes me think of how Alan has to remember that there are people out there who want to help him. That there are people out there fighting against the Darkness, even if he is mainly unaware and might even feel he doesn't deserve external help. It also reflects Alice being Alan's bright light in the darkness, and the reason he wants to keep fighting to get back to her.
In a similar vein, Lust For Life (also PoTF haha) this song could also be seen through an Alan/Alice lens, the shared shoebox mechanic and Alice trying to help/guide Alan back to the real world.
What is lost may be found Safe and sound
5. Hello Cabaret by PoTF
Now this song is maybe one of my faves of the Ghostlight album. Relistening to my fave lyrics of the song, it reminds me of the Koskelas and Ilmo specifically.
For when you come calling Dancing on my grave For all my choices made Judging me for how I played The hand you dealt me Stains the blood that flows
(...)
Of all I once did love but lost Nothing comes without a cost The wise fool said that's just the way it goes
(...)
Most will never comprehend Till' they're in the very predicament
To me, Ilmo at the end of the game is heartbroken and dead inside now that his other/better half is gone. The 'you' in question here might as well be the player or Scratch/Alan and he feels judged by the narrative of his previous actions. He's made decisions and sacrifices and used the Cult as a palpable 'villain' for the greater good. Something many probably didn't/wouldn't understand unless they were in his shoes.
6. Chasing Echoes by PoTF
It's a fun coincidence that in AW2 you have literal Echoes to chase huh.
Is this a role or disguise seeking mercy in creation? Just another device or truly a time when we will rise? Oh one and all, to the occasion And bridge the gap to see the other side?
The more on-the-nose/literal meaning aside, I think this song can be read as another one about Alan trying to escape the DP/spiral upwards toward ascension. Again, there's a 'you' in this song that could be interpreted as Alice who is a light inside Alan's darkness.
7. Brother by Lord Huron
How long have I known you, brother? Hundreds of lives, thousands of years How many miles have we wandered Under the sky, chasing our fear? Considering the spiral and the historical background of the Koskelas and their (indirect) ties to the Huotaris, they might as well known each other/been brothers for longer than what we see in-game. Some kind of trouble is coming Don't know when, don't know what I will stand by you, brother 'Til the daylight comes or I'm dead and gone
(...)
I know we can't stop what's coming But I will try, oh how I'll try Will you fight with me, brother One last time, one last fight
We know Ilmo got visited by the Dark Presence and has had nightmares about killing Jaakko. Luckily, he rose above that (as far as we know) but I think the dread and fear of losing Jaakko keeps lingering just underneath the surface. Personally, I enjoy the thought of people sometimes remembering the previous loop/spiral and that those affected/remembering would try anything to keep the loop from repeating.
8. You Belong To Me by Cat Pierce
If you're a fan of Alan/Scratch, this song has that obsessive/possessive vibe to it that seems to be a dialogue/mix between them.
I've heard allegations 'bout your reputation I'll show you my shadows if you show yours Let's get it right dear, give a good fight dear We'll keep it all up behind closed doors
(...)
I must confess to you, I want to possess you Feels like we're dreaming, we're tripping and reeling Just say that you belong to me I could get lost in the feelings we're feeling Just say that you belong to me

he was asked about the night we met and how he’s addressed before that a lot of fans are probably there from that song and if it was a big song for them: “yeah, we put that song out on strange trails, and actually, my wife and i were on our first big trip abroad where we were living sorta in the countryside in france for a few months between albums and had a friend that let us live there for really cheap. and um, my manager called and said ‘hey they wanna use this song in this tv show’ and honestly i was like ‘i don’t want to deal with this right now. let’s not do it.’ and my wife was like ‘well, might as well.’ like- we’re pretty cool about putting our songs in narrative projects. like i don’t want to be on a dishwasher soap commercial. but like i’m cool if i can add a little something to someone else’s story they want to tell. so we’ve been pretty liberal about letting people use music if its in something creative. so we ended up saying yes and they used it on the show, called ‘13 reasons why’ um, and it, y’know, i forgot about it honestly and went about my trip. and then, y’know, it ended up being this hit show and the song plays a big role in the story so it kinda made it even more of a connection with people. and yeah, it just really took off. so, we’ve been super thankful that it’s a song we like (laughs) y’know, one of our favorite songs to play. it’s very gratifying to see people connecting with that on such a deep level.”
podcast host: “did you tell us it had a billion downloads or something like that?”
ben: “yeah, i mean uh, spotify recently sent us a plaque because it was streamed a billion times just on spotify. it’s hard to believe. it’s really cool. it really expanded our audience. and hopefully, y’know, it’s just a gateway where people will get into the other stuff. and so far it seems like it has been. people will start there, get a taste for what we’re doing, and then kinda find out there’s a lot more to the style.”

5 no skip albums
i was tagged by @englishsub!! ty aiwen :)
💿 about u by MUNA — this is prob my number one no-skip....something about it just scratches the itch in my brain......honestly MUNA’s other two albums are mostly no-skips too
💿 be the cowboy by mitski — out of mitski’s discography this is prob the one i would consider a no-skip, although many of my fave songs of hers are on other albums!
💿 strange trails by lord huron — THEE gothic concept narrative album to end all gothic concept narrative albums....the way LH committed to the bit on this one.....this album has probably been consistently one of the most influential to me and i listened to it a LOT when it first came out during a really difficult time mental health-wise. lonesome dreams also fucks & has some of my favorite songs but is not what i would consider a no-skip
💿 ceremonials by florence + the machine — this album first ate my brain when i was like 17 like i was literally writing literary analysis papers about this album in high school. it remains so good
💿 st. cloud by waxahatchee — the lyricism in this one bends my brain and i have really fond spring memories associated w this album
honorable mentions: i have a lot! this is actually an EP but sarah kinsley’s cypress is sooo slept on and it’s so good omg. also both of hozier’s full-length albums, hayley heynderickx’s i need to start a garden, alt-j’s an awesome wave and maybe years & years’ communion.
tagging @doomcountry, @0tterp0p, @phneltwrites, @weirdsicko, @idrilka !

🎶✨ When you get this, you have to write down 5 songs you actually listen to and post them. Then send this (ask or tag) to 10 cool ppl✨🎶
I know, I already did a similar thing today :p But I promise this will be my last!
Thank you @bast-sims for tagging!
I'll tag the first 10 accounts I see on my feed, you don't have to do it if you don't want to!:
@mainlyjustthesims, @simsaralove, @ashuriphoenix, @echoweaver, @nocturnalazure, @flotheory, @gifappels-stuff, @ice-creamforbreakfast, @vimpse, @getboolpropped
I'm going to be honest, I listen to the Life Is Strange Soundtrack a lot, but here are some other songs I listen to that aren't that (warning, it's genre wise, all over the place lol):
Got a few more in case anyone is curious :p
(I listen to Nick Cave a lot too, but i think this song I listen to the most).
(basically anything by Emma Ruth Rundle honestly).
(Their latest album is pretty good too! But I probably listen to "their "Don't wait til tomorrow" one the most)
Great cover of the song! Probably better than the original IMO :)
I could go on but I figured this is probably the best to stay at :p

hey dani, what do u think the 2024 LH album will be like? im so excited but also kinda nervous bc i havent seen any updates on their part ab the new albun😭👎
yeah there hasn't been any updates on it which is. worrying /lh i would prefer them to take their time than rush but man. i would like some crumbs good sir
but honestly? i cant even try to predict it because EVERY album is so fucking different from each other. both in terms of lore and in style. like we went "cowboy fantasy adventure" -> "50s/60s style spooky anthology" -> "heartbreak, tragedy, and space drugs" -> "60s/70s americana topped with an existential crisis". like yeah its all vaguely folk but going from Strange Trails to Vide Noir alone is such a whiplash i honestly cant even imagine whats next. I am crossing my fingers for more of Leigh's Wildflower album cause that's got literally all her songs listed and we only have like. one of them. i need to hear more i miss her

I’m trying to get the lord huron tag system sorted because honestly what the hell were we doing here? NINE? There’s no consistency. There’s a tag for She Lit a Fire. There’s a tag for Vide Noir the album. There’s a tag for Strange Trails the album AND SEVERAL OF THE SONGS WITHIN IT. There is no unified Lord Huronverse tag. We gotta do better, guys.
This is my full dissertation to the support staff :sob:
It’s incredibly difficult to find fics for the Lord Huron fandom because they’re scattered between 9 different fandom labels- each with only a handful of different fics in them.
It’s a band that writes songs from the pov of an invented universe, so every song follows the same “canon”, but they’re still separated into individual song labels rather than just one for the whole canon. Some songs even describe the same event, yet they’d appear as two different fandoms.
It makes a lot of sense for them to be consolidated into the same fandom (as there isn’t a general lord huron-verse category yet)
I would even understand categorizing the songs and the movie based on them as different fandoms, but separating albums and songs- especially for such a small fandom- makes it impossible to navigate. It’s like making a new label for each episode or season of a tv show.
I’d love it if this could get resolved, as I think if the Lord Huron fics were easier to find it could encourage more readers and writers to find us.
The full list of tags I’ve found is
Strange Trails - Lord Huron (Album)
Meet Me in the Woods - Lord Huron (Song)
Vide Noir - Lord Huron (Album)
The Yawning Grave - Lord Huron (Song)
The Night We Met - Lord Huron (Song)
Fool For Love - Lord Huron (Song)
Frozen Pines - Lord Huron (Song)
She Lit a Fire - Lord Huron (Song)
Vide Noir (2022)

lore @megafaunatic tagged me.................Well let’s see what we’re working with here
this is in no particular order and also very subject to change like i may look back on this and be like wow nah what was i thinking. and i reserve the right to do that at any time. also i dont think it necessarily reflects All Of My Music Taste or whatever. if i am being too defensive it’s because i know my answers will be boring and or cringe
lord huron strange trails ... this album was my puzzle doing album through the whole pandemic ... by this i mean i would sit in my dad’s basement and do puzzles for like 6-7 hour stretches while listening to this album on repeat and allowing no thoughts to enter my brain. if i still enjoy listening to every song on it after all that? it’s a keeper
mcr danger days. THEE middle school / early high school no skips all bangers album. gimme gimme some of that vampire money CMONNNNNN. honestly even in that part in goodnite dr death when it screeches and holds that sound for a good like 2 seconds and blasts my ear drums i don’t skip. so that says a lot about me
fleetwood mac self titled. the girlies in the 70s knew this was a no skips album....and i carry on their legacy. also every time i hear landslide i cry at least a little bit sorry it’s just who i am
waxahatchee saint cloud. i think she is a good lyricist and i love every song on this album...it gets me through sooo many commutes and long car rides and got me through so many long shifts at the cafe i used to work at when i just needed a good album to make the time pass smoother. if you get real close to the ending ... i hope you know i did what i could .... we try to give it all meaning ... glorify the grain of the wood ... tell ourselves what’s beautiful and good...
(5 albums is not enough)
florence atm ceremonials. i think this is the last one....i was teetering between a bunch but this is an album i come back to again and again when im writing when i’m sad when i need something familiar but still inspiring...i remember getting the cd and listening to nothing else for weeks when it first came out in 2011 until it was burned onto my brain forever
Ummm i tag @lesbianlizzybennet @filmnoiress @whatisthiswitchcraft @jimkirkisgay @yankeeclapdoctor ONLY IF YOU WANT but this was fun i love random info sharing ask games lol

7 please!!
Hi LT! (I knew you would be here with shrines questions eventually 😂❤️)
7. Where did the title come from?
OH I love this question!! All my titles come from Lord Huron’s Strange Trails album. I went back and forth on giving titles for the future fics, but I’m gonna bc i don’t care about spoilers and also i put too much work into my titles to let them go unheard lmao because who knows how long it’ll take me to finally write all 5 of these.
the series title, build me no shrines, sing me no songs, comes from Way Out There. Specifically this chunk of lyrics: “I belong bodily to the earth / I'm just wearing old bones from those that came first / There are many more flames when mine is gone / They will build me no shrines and sing me no songs” (but honestly the whole song is perfect for the series). The title and the original idea seed sort of came together, but it’s grown into it’s title as I’ve outlined I think. Harry’s doesn’t want to be a saviour. He’s just a kid fighting his hardest in a war that he didn’t start. Also the ‘wearing old bones’ bit is a fun reference to future arthurian shenanigans 👀
the title for the first fic/year three, a sign in the midnight sky, and the second, the heavens collide, both come from Until the Night Turns (“I had a visitor come from the great beyond / Telling me our time in the world is done / And to watch for a sign in the midnight sky” and “I had a vision tonight that the world was ending / And the sky was falling and time was bending / I watched the heavens collide right before my eyes). I won’t say much about the first because I know i said I don’t care about spoilers but that was a bit of a lie, that one’s a very big spoiler lmao but it’s basically just like beginnings and Harry’s world changing. the heavens collide though is Sirius and Regulus!!! they don’t really interact at all in the first fic and finally meet again at the start of the second fic so it’s all about their relationship. plus Harry starts getting visions, so that part is maybe a little on the nose…
into the endless night came from these lyrics from Meet Me in the Woods “I have seen what the darkness does / Say goodbye to who I was / I ain't never been away so long / Don't look back, them days are gone / Follow me into the endless night” which year 5 is a major turning point. It’s really for both Harry and Tom, how they’re both changed by the resurrection, and how there’s no way to undo what’s been done up to this point. Plus it’s a lot of Harry embracing the changes he’s been fighting the last two years.
the year 6 fic, darkness brings evil things, I used The Yawning Grave lyrics “Oh, you fool, there are rules I am coming for you / Darkness brings evil things, oh, the reckoning begins / I tried to warn you when you were a child / I told you not to get lost in the wild / I sent omens and all kinds of signs / I taught you melodies, poems, and rhymes”. I think in my outline this is one of the lowest points in the fic. A betrayal comes to light, the Order is losing, and Harry starts wondering if they’re all going to make it out of the war intact. Also lots more visions this year, so that’s the whole other chunk of lyrics.
the last fic I’ve got planned in the series is tear through the night, and the title comes from The World Ender (“The fair and the brave and the good must die / I seen the other side of living, I know heaven's a lie / I'll tear through the night, and I'll raise some hell / 'Cause I'm the World Ender, baby and I'm back from the dead”) which. just… yeah. I feel like this one explains itself honestly, and I’m not spoiling anything else lmao
That was probably a lot more than you meant when you sent that ask 😅 you stumbled into my secret Shrines title lore, sorry!
ask me things about my fic!

ok after listening to all albums on repeat non stop-
strange trails is my absolute favorite. i love it. especially when meet me in the woods fades into the yawning grave which fades into frozen pines. i want to inject those songs into my veins
vide noir is a good album, i still listen to it all the way through but my favorites are ancient names part 1 and 2, the balancers eye, secret of life, and vide noir.
long lost hurts so good. such a good album. love me like you use to???? ugh oh my god. as much as i hate mary linton (lots of reasons), this is her and arthur’s song for sure.
i think my least listened to is lonesome dreams, but none the less they are all so beautiful and fantastic.
thank you for peaking my interest because i honestly haven’t had any inspo to write my fanfic, and now that i have all this music, it just gives me the want and need to write all about arthur. 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
I totally agree with your opinions on the albums. Strange Trails will always be my favorite album, I think Long Lost is second, Vide Noir third (these two flip flop all the time though) and Lonesome Dreams is fourth but honestly, I've had more of an appreciation for the album after I realized how many of the songs work so well with Arthur. Lonesome Dreams, I Will Be Back One Day and In The Wind are three songs that I love with a passion. I always imagine In The Wind being a song about me waiting for Arthur at the end of Chapter 6 especially with the line, "you were my protector and my best friend." 😭 That line will always get me screaming, crying, and throwing up.
Yes!! Omg the transition between The Yawning Grave and Frozen Pines is unmatched. I absolutely love that you can't tell where the one song ends and when the next one starts.
ALSO SAME every time I listen to Drops in the Lake all I can think of is "this is literally Arthur and Mary's song and no one can tell me otherwise." It sums up their story perfectly. (also omg thank you for also not being a fan of Mary Linton because I could go on and on about how much I dislike her, but the Mary apologists scare me 😅).
Ahhh of course!! I know I've already said it many times but thank you for checking them out! I'm so glad you really resonated with their music and appreciate their art! And I feel that! I've never written a fanfic before, but their music has inspired me to try and write some stuff as well! (I'm still very tempted to write a fic inspired by Setting Sun or Love Me Like You Used To, etc. etc.).
I'll keep you updated when we hear more about when their 5th album comes out!

Tagged by @goosemixtapes to post my favorite albums! Sticking to one album per artist, going in chronological order:
1. Green Day's American Idiot (2004)
2. Shakira's Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 (2005)
3. The Wreckers's Stand Still, Look Pretty (2006)
4. Patrick Stump's Soul Punk (2011)
5. Delta Rae's Carry The Fire (2012)
6. Hozier's Hozier (2014)
7. Lord Huron's Strange Trails (2015)
8. Welshly Arms's No Place Is Home (2018)
9. The Amazing Devil's Ruin (2021)
Honorable mentions go to Phoebe Bridgers's Punisher, Meadowlark's Postcards, Fall Out Boy's Infinity On High, The Paper Kites's Woodland (mostly on the technicality that it was an EP and not a full album), and, of course, The Amazing Devil's Love Run and The Horror and the Wild.
Had I not stuck to one album per artist, the main list would have been 1/3 The Amazing Devil and we all know it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That said, this made me think about albums I hadn't listened to in a while and I really appreciate that!! American Idiot got me through SO many panic attacks, and Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 was. Honestly formative for me as a young latine queer now that I think about it djsndnNFNSNDN not to mention how often I sat in the computer room listening to Stand Still, Look Pretty while rotating my blorbos as a kid. Memories, man. These albums are all such a part of me...music is. So wild and wonderful.
I'm gonna taaaaag @witcher-and-his-bard @vivji annnd anyone else who would like to do it!! No pressure of course!! <3

🌟 SUNNIE 🍓 started their LIVE: cb live 💕
Tumblr media
streamed on: weverse date: 24.02.26 languages: kor. = “normal”, “chn = bold” warnings: implied breakups, mentioned drinking
Tumblr media
“Hi, Carats! Welcome to the comeback live for my second mini album!” Sunnie greets. “It’s been a long time, right?” She says, looking down at the comments.
💎: Unnie we missed you!!!
“I missed you guys too… I've been really busy recently, and I just got back from fashion week.”
“I also had to dye my hair purple, but it's kind of fading now.. It reminds me of the purple hair I had during Mansae era.” Sunnie laughs
“I’ll start introducing the album now since it comes out in one hour!” She says as the staff signals her to hurry up.
Sunnie leaves the frame, then returns with a physical copy of ‘Good, Bad, Ugly.’ “Here’s the album Carats!” Sunnie exclaims while showing it off. “There are three album versions, ‘Good, Bad, and Ugly,’ but I only have ‘Bad’ right now.”
💎: what is the meaning of the album name?
“The meaning of the album is to show all the sides of a relationship with others and with yourself, the positive and the negative, which is where I came up with the name.” She explained.
“I need to speed this up, so I'll start introducing the tracks now!” She laughed as she put away the album. “There are eight tracks on the album and, Woozi and Bumzu Oppa helped me make most of them.”
“I wrote all of the songs based on different experiences I've had throughout my life and want to thank everyone who participated in creating them with me!”
“Okay, the first song is ‘DIZZY’, the album intro.” “It talks about how dizzy it feels to love someone when you aren’t sure how they feel about you,” Sunnie explains.
A 20-second snippet of ‘DIZZY’ plays on the speaker while Sunnie reads the comments.
💎: wahh, how is this only an intro?? isn't it good enough to be a full song?
“Originally, it was going to be a full song but honestly I never ended up finishing the full song so…” She shrugs.
“Next is the title track ‘Find Myself’ which I originally wrote in 2018 when I was struggling a lot with my identity in and outside of Seventeen but it never got fully written, so Woozi Oppa helped me rewrite the song.”
A 10-second snippet of Find Myself plays while Sunnies dances along.
“Since it's releasing soon, I won’t make any additional comments and just move on to the next song, which would be…” She pauses, “Oh, right! The song is ‘My Love,’ I wrote it when I had a lot of love in my heart and felt emotional, so I hope Carats can feel those same feelings!”
While the snippet plays she checks the comments again.
🐻‍❄️: introduce late night pls 🤲
“Since Hansol is getting impatient, we can move on to ‘LATE NIGHT.’ We were out together drinking and somehow ended up writing a song just about having late night conversations, kind of inspired by our actual conversations.”
🐻‍❄️: best song on the album imo
“Hansolie is so..” She trails off, shaking her head.
“Anyway! Next is the song ‘Good, Bad, Ugly’ is actually about the different parts of yourself instead of a relationship. You should always love yourself no matter what!”
After a moment of reading the comments she checked the time.
“Wow.. It’s already 20 minutes until the release..” She laughed. “Alright, this next song is called ‘Star,’ Junnie wrote it with me. It's just a beautiful song, and I feel like the meaning can be up for your own interpretations.” She said while smiling.
💎: I get so happy to hear you sing in chinese!!
“It makes me really happy too! I can definitely see myself making a full Chinese album one day.”
“The next song is ‘Our Street,” which I wrote after having a bad breakup a very long time ago and I never had a chance to release it until now, it's a really sad song but definitely my favorite.”
💎: it's so strange seeing an idol openly talk about their relationships ㅋㅋㅋ
Sunnie hummed in acknowledgment, “I’m almost 26, so I feel like I can talk about it now. Also, nothing that hasn't been said about me before, so why not just make music about it.” She said, shrugging.
“Wow, the last song already? The track is called ‘In My Dreams’ and I wrote it about unrequited love and wishing that they liked you back.”
After the snippet was done playing Sunnie started waving goodbye. “The album should be out in a couple of minutes now, please give the songs a lot of support!”
“Bye Carats!”

2 & 19 ❤️
Hi Jo! <3
2) Album of the year?
I'm a little freak who honestly doesn't really listen to a lot of music! So I couldn't tell you what album I vibed with the most. My music was pretty stable from last year and I know my wrapped last year said it was Strange Trails by Lord Huron though
19) What’re you excited about for next year?
I like this question bc I'm really not in a good place right now and it's forcing me to grapple with optimism. I'm looking forward to hopefully being able to get a job and build my savings. I'm also hopeful that I might be able to learn how to drive next year.
Send me end of year asks!
