What do you recommend having along side a homemade banana peanut butter protein shake/smoothie? For me, it’s only filling for a few hours and I’m starving by lunch time.
First, definitely make sure you’re using a good protein powder! A lot of the ones at the store don’t have that much protein in them and are mostly filled with carbs and/or fat, which won’t keep you as full as protein. So check that first. If you want recommendations I HIGHLY suggest PEScience vanilla (or any flavor really). I’ve tried almost every protein powder out there and this one not only has incredible macros (1.5g fat, 2.5g carbs, 24g protein) but it also is the best tasting one I’ve tried. It’s a life changer and 1000% worth the money, because I also love using it in baking recipes too.
Second, peanut butter in general won’t keep you that full since it’s very high in fat with not that much protein, and not really worth it for how high in calories it is. Now, PB2/PBFit powder is a different story, because that’s basically like peanut butter without the fat in it so you get much more protein for the same amount of calories as regular peanut butter. And bananas won’t keep you that full either because there’s not a lot of volume for the amount of calories — one banana is 110 calories vs TWO cups of strawberries is 100 calories.
Adding greek yogurt to your protein shakes will change the game entirely, because man oh man greek yogurt is like the most filling thing ever. You can either use Fage 0% plain, or if you want some flavor use Oikos Triple Zero (lots of flavors to choose from).
Adding a fruit that’s lower in calories like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (pretty much any berry lol) will give you more volume for fewer calories.
Here’s the recipe for my protein shakes that I drink that keeps me full for several hours:
- 100g strawberries (or however much you want)
- 1 serving greek yogurt
- 1 serving vanilla protein powder (make sure it’s one that tastes good so you don’t have to mask the taste with high calorie additives!)
- 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or however much you want)
- Add some ice if you want it more like a smoothie, and mix everything in a blender
This ends up being around 265 calories with 40g of protein, and it keeps me full for SO long I actually have to force myself to eat more to get enough calories lol. If after all that you still don’t feel full, I like to make some eggs on the side — one large egg mixed with 100g egg whites from a carton, salt and pepper to taste. Full of protein and will keep you full for a hella long while.
For all that, you’re looking at 390 calories, 57g protein, 19g carbs, 8g fat. With that much protein, I promise you won’t feel hungry for a while!

Okay so Sooga can't cook. But can Master Kohga cook? And would he try to teach Sooga, for a bit of domestic fluff goodness??
Imma make this as fluffy as I can for you, anon! I’m gonna be SUPER busy, so some asks will probably be on the back burner. Having said that, Imma dip into these when I can because you guys have SUCH good ideas??
Also It’s not that Sooga can’t cook, he just can’t cook WELL. Stuff is always off with his cooking. Too salty, too sweet, undercooked, SOMETHING. Kohga is picky so he notices. Either way, let’s GO!
“Urbosa! Get over here!”
Kohga (as well as the champions) had been spending all day together in the kitchen (upon prompting from Zelda), and Kohga had more or less commanded the cooking area. When Kohga wasn’t busy killing people or sleeping, he was being a rather pleasant company to have around. He started off by making drinks, and Sooga offered to help. Which was apparently a bit of a mistake. Urbosa sighed as she left the table, and walked behind the counter. Kohga motioned to two cups.
“You try one, and tell me which one has alcohol in it.”
Urbosa tried one, then another, lightly shaking her head.
“One on the left? Right one tastes just like juice.”
Kohga motioned wildly to the cups, as if they made a scientific discovery.
“Ha! See, that’s the thing! BOTH do! Somehow!”
“I...don’t put enough alcohol, that’s the hint I’m getting.”
“No matter how many times I shove MY dick in THAT ass, he makes drinks like a FUCKING virgin! You know what, get a fucking apron on, I’m teaching you how to be competent in the kitchen. You can’t JUST have a top notch cock, you dumbshit.”
Kohga turned around to get them both an apron, and Urbosa chuckled at his puzzled reaction.
“Hey, he does have a point. Everyone should learn how to cook. Besides, him being this upset just means he really loves you.”
“Don’t you DARE make me out to be mushy, Urbosa!”
Kohga walked back up to them, throwing a pink apron at Sooga’s face. Urbosa chuckled as Kohga put his own on. It was clear she was right, but the relationship was still new to him, so he was still in denial of his feelings. Urbosa grabbed one of the drinks (Kohga’s, obviously), and shrugged.
“I’ll just be taking this then, carry on love birds.”
Kohga lifted a finger to retort, before Urbosa turned around and joined Daruk back at the table. Kohga waved her off, muttering something under his breath. Sooga couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re just charming, Master Kohga.”
“Save the sweet for the cooking, tits mcgee.”
Kohga patted his left tit, before going to the sink and washing his hands, Sooga following suit.
“So? What will we be making?”
“Good question. What do you WANT to make?”
“Hmm...what’s something YOU like?”
“Kiss ass.”
Kohga chuckled, drying his hands with a towel. Sooga honestly just lived for Kohga, and it was terribly sweet of him.
“Alright, let’s do crepes with fried bananas.”
Sooga nodded, more than confident enough to prove himself. Kohga dug into the cabinets to grab everything (with help from Sooga. Tall bastard), before Kohga put two bowls in front of them.
“Now, follow me. We’re gonna add a cup of the tabantha flour. Then, a tablespoon of sugar.”
“I always thought it was a cup of both.”
“No wonder you always burn those fuckers- that much sugar burns it, you dumbshit. Now, not everyone does this, but they SHOULD. Add some salt, help balance out. If you think a food doesn’t need SOME salt, you’re wrong.”
Sooga nodded along, carefully listening and following his instructions, as if this was a training session.
“How did you learn all this?”
“Mom taught me. She loved cooking, but she worked hard, so sometimes she was too tired to cook. When I got older, I ended up doing the cooking around the house. You only get better the more you do it. Except YOUR drinks, you’re hopeless.”
“Like my love for you.”
“Iean down, imma smack you upside the head.”
Sooga chuckled, watching his little master grumble to himself. Kohga took out another bowl, and added milk, as well as an egg.
“Now. You mix the wet and the dry together.”
“Why not just do it all together to begin with?”
“Lumps, you get lots of ‘em if you do that.”
Sooga nodded, watching as Kohga mixed the ingredients in their separate bowls. Sooga could watch Kohga cook all day, if he let him. Sooga copied Kohga as they mixed the dry and wet together, whisking it till it was nice and liquidy.
“It’s supposed to be this liquidy?”
“Yeah, any thicker and it’s a pancake. Now, we’re gonna put this in the fridge for as long as we can, get some flavor out of it.”
“What do we do while we wait?”
Sooga took the bowls, and put them in the fridge, just in time to catch Kohga grabbing bananas and putting them on a cutting board.
“We prep everything else. This should be easy for you. I need you to cut all these in little squares. And listen to me while I show you what I’m doing, but be careful.”
“Afraid I’ll cut myself?”
Sooga grinned as he peeled the bananas, starting to cut. One thing Sooga was VERY good at in the kitchen, was cutting. Always clean, always uniform. Kohga dug into the bag of sugar that he had at his side, and tossed a bit towards Sooga’s apron. Wasteful? A bit, but Sooga’s dumb smile was getting on his nerves.
“If you don’t, at this point I will. Now, I’m gonna throw some butter in this pan, and we’re gonna add the bananas here soon as you’re done. This, and some whipped cream, is gonna be our filling.”
“Doesn’t it burn if it’s hot?”
“If you actually know how it works, no.”
Sooga was careful not to cut himself as he watched Kohga throw butter, sugar, and some spices onto the pan. He watched as the sugar browned slightly, and Kohga motioned for Sooga to pour the fruit in. Once it was inside, Kohga handed him the spatula.
“Now, keep mixing it. Don’t change the temp, don’t let it sit.”
Sooga watched as Kohga grabbed a bag of acorns and chickaloo tree nuts. He cracked them surprisingly effortlessly in his hands, quickly and efficiently separating the shells from the insides. Sooga found it hard to pay attention to the pan, and his Master’s hands. How did hands so soft and lovely make such hard work look so easy?
“Is that going in the batter?”
“No, with the bananas. Adds some crunch, and a little bit of sweet.”
Kohga’s arm pushed against him as he added the nuts to the pan, motioning for Sooga to keep going.
“Now, this is just how I like it, but we’re gonna add a swig of apple juice. Adds a BIT of tart, because this is going to be sweet as hell. Especially since we’re gonna add a touch of rum, to taste.”
“...Master Kohga?”
“Don’t tell me I lost you already, big guy.”
“Just in your eyes, Master Kohga.”
Kohga looked up at him, and reached his hand up, pushing him away a bit.
“You are SO mushy. No wonder you can’t cook right, you’re too busy ogling me all damn day.”
“You make it quite hard to focus.”
He chuckled. He kept mixing, as he was instructed. Kohga added butter to the pan, shaking his head at Sooga’s stupidity. He was just, such a lovestruck idiot. Once the butter started to lightly bubble, Kohga dug into the fridge, bringing out the batter.
“Okay, let’s start the important part. You can turn that off, cover it with the pot lid. I’m gonna let you do the first one. Three tablespoons into the pan.”
Kohga gave him the proper pouring tool, and Sooga obeyed. He was about to ask what to do next, when Kohga held onto his hand, helping him turn the pan. Sooga could chuckle like a lovesick fool right now, honestly. He really did have nice, soft hands, and Sooga wanted to hold them forever.
“Tilt to get it everywhere. Nice and slow, get it everywhere. Three minutes, then flip. Anymore and it’s like eating a damn ear. Speaking of ears, are you listening?”
“To every word, Master Kohga. Every single, solitary word.”
Kohga turned to look at him, finally seeing why he sounded more stupid than usual. He was SWOONING. Literally looking at him, and SWOONING like an idiot. Kohga scoffed, flipping the crepe for him.
“Alright, then listen to this. See how it’s got a nice, brown crust? We want it kinda crispy.”
Kohga let Sooga ogle him for three minutes, before finally taking it out of the pan, setting it onto a table.
“Taste it.”
“You?”
“W-no, the crepe you dingbat!”
Even Kohga had to chuckle at that. It’s why Kohga never let his ass watch him cook, it was just. All of this. They split the crepe, and Sooga nodded.
“You’re truly wonderful, Master Kohga. It’s lovely.”
“Good. Now, you’re turn, all by yourself.”
Kohga was going to step back, but Sooga’s puppy dog eyes kept him standing right there. Sooga added the batter to the pan, carefully turning the mixture till it coated the whole pan. He waited the three minutes, before flipping it. Kohga nodded in approval.
“Good crust, good crust. Keep it going.”
And that’s exactly what he did. Kohga sat there, watching his Sooga make crepe after crepe, and Kohga couldn’t help but chuckle. He was constantly asking if it was okay, constantly peering over him for approval. Honestly, if Kohga told this man to get him a piece of the moon, Sooga wouldn’t hesitate to reach for the stars. Soon enough, there wasn’t any mix left, in turn, leaving quite a stack of crepes. Kohga flipped through the stack, nodding.
“Better. Though some are a bit darker than others. We’ll work on that. Now, best part.”
Kohga placed one on the plate, added a hefty dollop of cream and honey, then folded it into a nice triangle like shape. Sooga watched him carefully, clearly wanting it to be perfect. Kohga folded another with cream and honey, then another. His usual was three at a time, but he might just have more (to support Sooga of course). He topped it off with the banana mixture, and dusted it with powdered sugar, just to make it look good. Sooga followed his stead, though he didn’t do it so cleanly. Folding it was hard for him apparently, causing him to get whipped cream all over his fingers, and even on his mask. It was a sloppy plate, but it was Sooga’s plate. Kohga shook his head once he saw the state of Sooga.
“For the love of- get over here, idiot.”
Kohga grabbed a hold of his face, wiping the cream off of his mask. Sooga sat there, letting him do so with such loving eyes. It was totally gross, in a sweet way.
“Master Kohga?”
“If the question is ‘am I an idiot’, then absolutely.”
Sooga chuckled, lightly shaking his head.
“I just...thank you. I enjoy listening to you when you teach. You love what you do, and there’s something so absolutely beautiful about that.”
“Yeah yeah...well. I like teaching you. You’re eager to learn.”
“I’m eager for YOU, Master Kohga.”
“Well geez Sooga, I know I’m pretty sweet, but-”
Before Kohga could finish his retort, Sooga suddenly lifted him off the floor, lifting their masks up a bit, and kissing him, right in his gorgeous lips. Was it a bit much, nearly throwing Kohga onto the counter and leering over him to kiss him? Absolutely, but neither seemed to care in the slightest. Just for a minute, they were there in an embrace, as sweet as sweet could be. Totally ignoring the table of people just a few feet away. Daruk lightly coughed, trying to ignore the fact that Sooga’s tight grip on his Master’s ass was smearing whipped cream everywhere.
“I...don’t think we’re gonna be eatin’ anything any time soon.”

Which fruit tastes best covered in chocolate? Bananas probably. <<< And strawberries.
What’s the last thing you drank? Water. What was in your last smoothie? Bananas, vanilla almond milk, and chocolate syrup.
Do you prefer eating ice cream in a cup or cone? Cup. I take way too long to finish, so it gets too messy otherwise. A waffle bowl is a good alternative as well.

Are you romantically in love with someone right now? No.
What color would you like to dye your hair? I’ve been dyeing it red the past few years. I’m a year overdue (a year and 3 months now...) and in serious need of getting it done, but sigh. I don’t know when that will be at this point. I haven’t had the energy or motivation and my hair is a mess and gah. Part of me just wants to whack it off. COVID played a role in not getting done, but I’ll be completely honest it’s a small role. I could have at some point or at least settled for a box dye in the meantime, but nope. Ughhh. It’s bad.
Do you prefer… the beginning or end of the year? Spring or Summer? Fall or Winter? The end for sure. I love fall and winter.
What’s the last app you opened on your phone? YouTube.

Have you ever been stung by a bee, hornet, or wasp? No, thankfully.
When’s the last time you received flowers as a gift? Actually, my dad got me some last week cause I’ve been going through a rough time and he saw them and thought I would enjoy them.

What makes you feel the most guilty? I feel guilty about a lot of things. Especially these days.
Do you bother with skincare products? No. :X
What’s currently on your desk? I don’t have a desk. Well, my bed is basically my desk since I have my laptop, chargers, and Bible study stuff (books, notebook, a pencil case with my pens, highlighters, white-out).
Do you prefer… popsicles or ice cream? Cupcakes or cake? Cheesecake or shortcake? Ice cream, cupcakes, cheesecake.
What was your dream wedding like as a kid compared to now? I wasn’t the kid that dreamt of their wedding and I’m not the adult that does either. I don’t even see myself getting married.

What’s the scent of the last perfume, body spray, lotion, body wash, and hand soap you used? I haven’t used perfume or body spray in awhile so I don’t recall at the moment. 1. What’s the last thing you ate? Shawarma. It was a usual meal of mine at school so I’ve been missing it a lot during this quarantine, and I was happy when my dad got me a couple ones yesterday.
2. What’s your favourite cheese? I haven’t been super experimental when it comes to cheese mainly because the better ones are a little expensive and I’m more willing to spend my money on other foods...but the best one I’ve had is feta.
3. What’s your favourite fish? My favorite cooked or grilled fish is tilapia and eel; as for raw fish I love tuna.
4. What’s your favourite fruit? I don’t really like fruit but I’m open to eating avocado-flavored things like shakes and cheesecake; and I’m okay with strawberry-flavored candy hahaha.
5. When, if ever, did you start liking olives? I’ve never liked olives. I take them out of my pizza and such.
6. When, if ever, did you start liking beer? I never *liked* beer but sometimes I’ll have a bottle if and only if it’s to socialize at a party. I just keep the grimace to myself lol because I personally never found it good. I had my first beer at Marielle’s debut, four years ago.
7. When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish? High school. That was when my palate started to expand and I wanted to try being more adventurous with food. I got into shellfish pretty early on and my mom even used to buy a kilo of mussels just for me.
8. What was the best thing your mum/dad/guardian used to make? I love my dad’s laksa, risotto, curries, and chicken wings. My mom doesn’t cook much but I do like her spaghetti.
9. What’s the native specialty of your hometown? My city doesn’t have native food of its own; and I’m not sure about my province’s specialtes either only because cuisines from other provinces are far more popular. I can say though that most visitors who come to the country often try adobo, sinigang, kare-kare, and bulalo.
10. What’s your comfort food? Cheeseburgers, samgyeopsal, pad thai, and chicken wings.
11. What’s your favourite type of chocolate? Milk chocolate. And it gets a lot of flak because it’s not actually chocolate, but I do enjoy the flavor of white chocolate too.
12. How do you like your steak? Rare.
13. How do you like your burger? I like mine with caramelized onions, a mayo-based sauce, and brioche buns; barbecue sauce or jalapeños are add-ons I have no problem being put in my burger. I don’t like tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce.
14. How do you like your eggs? Scrambled if on toast; omelette with cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms, and bell peppers if with rice; and obviously, poached if on top of an Eggs Benedict. I don’t have a preferred style for eggs.
15. How do you like your potatoes? As French fries or mojos.
16. How do you take your coffee? If someone is making the coffee for me, I request for lots of cream and sugar. I’d drink any kind of coffee but black. If I’m at a coffee shop I typically get caramel macchiato.
17. How do you take your tea? I enjoy lemonade iced tea. I don’t really like hot tea.
18. What’s your favourite mug? I suppose my favorite is the only mug I own, which is a white mug that changes colors depending on the temperature of the drink inside.
19. What’s your biscuit or cookie of choice? I can’t stand biscuits anymore because those are what my grandma/mom packed for my recess nearly everyday throughout grade school. I don’t like store-brought cookies either because they taste super processed, but my favorite as a kid were the Presto peanut butter cookies.
20. What’s your ideal breakfast? Garlic rice, a packed omelette, and hashbrowns if I’m somewhere fancy. Scrambled eggs and hotdogs when I’m at home.
21. What’s your ideal sandwich? Monte Cristo or banh mi.
22. What’s your ideal pizza: Quattro formaggi. If we’re talking more experimental pizzas, barbecue pizza is a guilty pleasure.
23. What’s your ideal pie (sweet or savoury)? I’m not a big pie person but I do love savory a lot more, like chicken pot pie. I think most of the sweet pies out there are fruit-based anyway.
24. What’s your ideal salad? Spicy tuna salad. I’ve been having such a craving for it :(
25. What food do you always like to have in the fridge? We always have white bread, eggs, my mom’s cranberry juice, and veggies.
26. What food do you always like to have in the freezer? In the freezer we never run out of various meats and frozen meal packs, like frozen bangus, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, French fries, etc. We also often have ice cream, but it’s not a must-have for us obviously.
27. What food do you always like to have in the cupboard? Pasta, canned food like luncheon meat and corned beef, cup noodles, various condiments like soy sauce and fish sauce, 3-in-1 coffee.
28. What spices can you not live without? I can’t cook but I do know I like salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin. I’m sure I’m missing other essential ones lol
29. What sauces can you not live without? Sriracha, bagoong, banana ketchup, gochujang, peanut sauce, gravy, barbecue sauce, aioli, mayonnaise.
30. Where do you buy most of your food? My parents don’t have a supermarket preference; they just go to wherever is most convenient for them at the moment. Once I start doing my own grocery shopping though I would rather go to a supermarket where they’d have a wider selection for foreign foods, like those that would have Pop-Tarts and sriracha sauce. Just the foodie in me that constantly has to have food from other cultures.
31. How often do you go food shopping? My parents do the groceries once every two or three weeks, I think.
33. What’s the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own? Aside from the obvious ref or cooking range, probably the coffee maker. Not sure how much it cost my parents but it’s supposed to be branded haha.
34. What’s the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen? Dad bought a couple of pans because he didn’t like how our old ones were starting to get too many scratches.
35. What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without? Refrigerator. So many things would spoil without it...that’s why when we get blackouts the first thing we worry about is how long the ref would stay cold.
36. How many times a week/month do you cook from raw ingredients? I’ve only done it once.
37. What’s the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients?
38. What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry? Crocodile, carabao, lamb.
39. What’s the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor? Don’t remember exactly when but it has to be sometime recently. I’m not too grossed out by this.
40. What’s the last time you ate something you’d picked in the wild? I have never done this.
41. Arrange the following in order of preference: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Sushi – Indian, Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican. This question is a teeny bit annoying and a little offensive. How would you like it if I referred to American food as ‘ribs’ lol

In KFC I get a Zinger and a brownie; in Jollibee, I usually order the chicken-spaghetti set, large fries, and a Yum Burger. If they have tuna pie on the menu I’d get that too. But I skipped it all the time when I was in school because getting to class on time and having a clean attendance record mattered to me more than filling up my stomach. 52. At what time do you have breakfast? On weekdays I have it between 9-10 AM. On weekends when my parents are home, we have brunch instead at around 10:30-11 AM because they wake up late.

We don’t have a ‘main’ chair that’s larger than the rest, but my dad is the one who sits on the chair on one end of the dining table, or what we call the kabisera in Filipino. My mom, siblings, and I sit on either side of him.
59. Do you eat and drink using your right hand or the left one? I use my right hand for the spoon and my left hand for the fork. I drink with my right hand most of the time.
61. Mention the veggies that you like most: Broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, spinach, asparagus, string beans. Idk what eggplants and bell peppers are but I like those too.

how to make matcha tea with milk
<p><img src="https://ift.tt/2YvSBRy" alt="Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe - Japanese-Inspired Latte with Healthy Green Tea and Dairy or Non-Dairy Milk." /></p> <p><strong>Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe - Easy Recipe for Japanese-Inspired Latte with Healthy Green Tea and Dairy or Non-Dairy Milk.</strong></p> <p>Lately I’ve been experimenting with less caffeinated replacements for my usual cup of black tea or coffee. I am addicted to my morning cup of joe; finding an alternative has been pretty tough. I’ve been drinking green matcha in iced tea form for a couple of years now. Over the holidays I bought myself a gift- a new milk frother that can froth and steam milk at the touch of a button. Using my new frother, I have perfected the art of the matcha latte.</p> <p>Matcha gives you an energy boost without the crash you often experience after a strong cup of coffee. The matcha latte is a surprisingly perfect marriage of tea and creamy milk; when lightly sweetened, it is truly a treat. I recently found a great organic matcha, and I’ve been making lattes with it almost every morning. I can honestly say I now love matcha!</p> <h2>The History of Matcha Green Tea</h2> <p>Legend claims that Shennong, the ancient Chinese emperor and inventor of Chinese medicine, discovered the lovely flavor and medicinal powers of green tea when a few tea leaves blew into a kettle he was heating over a fire. Powdered tea, like matcha, first appeared during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). At that time fresh tea leaves were steamed, then dried, ground, and packed into hard cakes for easy transport. Whenever anyone wanted a cup of tea, a piece of the cake was broken off and dissolved in water. This practice eventually died off, though a slightly similar preparation reappeared during the 8th century, when Japanese Zen monks began growing their own green tea leaves and preparing powdered tea, now known as matcha.</p> <p>You’ll notice the high price point on this tea- the best matcha, known as “ceremonial grade,” is quite expensive. If you have the means to buy it, it’s worth the spend, especially if you enjoy matcha tea on its own (meaning, plain matcha tea- not the latte form). However, there are also some less expensive “culinary grade” matcha alternatives out there that are pretty good. Here is one I’d recommend; it’s not quite as flavorful as the ceremonial grade, but for mixing into lattes and baked goods, it does the trick. You’ll get quite a bit more tea for a slightly lower price than the small tins of ceremonial grade matcha.</p> <h2>How to Make A Matcha Latte</h2> <p>A matcha latte is a unique, simple and slightly exotic treat. Many coffee shops offer matcha on their menus, but nothing beats making them to your unique specifications at home. I’ve also found that that matcha lattes taste great hot or cold. During the warmer months I pour mine into a large glass (or mason jar if you prefer!) and simply add ice. I’ll walk you through the process here, and I’ve attached a video of the stovetop method to this post. If you have a frother, I’ve also provided instructions for that below.</p> <p>While I haven’t completely been able to ditch my morning coffee, I have cut down substantially thanks to this latte alternative. Feel free to use any milk or non-dairy milk you like and adjust the amount of sweetness with sugar, agave, honey - you name it. The types of leaves used to make matcha are grown in the shade, which aids in producing more chlorophyll - so don’t let the bright green color throw you off. Remember, greens are good for you!</p> <p><strong>Recommended Products</strong>:</p> <p>Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder (more expensive per ounce, higher quality)</p> <p>Organic Culinary Grade Matcha Powder (much less expensive per ounce, not quite as flavorful)</p> <p>Automatic Milk Frother (I bought myself a milk frother recently and I love it!)</p> <p>Matcha Whisk</p> <p>Immersion Blender</p> <p> Beauty shots and styling by Bethany Nauert.</p> <p><img src="https://ift.tt/3oLvIUF" alt="Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe - Japanese-Inspired Latte with Healthy Green Tea and Dairy or Non-Dairy Milk." /></p> <p><strong>Other Great Recipe Ideas</strong></p><p>My Name Is Yeh - Matcha Oreos</p><p>Eat the Love - Banana and Green Tea Milk Chocolate Chunk Muffins</p> source https://familycuisine.net/how-to-make-matcha-tea-with-milk/

[ Friday, March 20th, 2020 ]
Mia stood in their guest bedroom as she held up the light camera, flipping the screen up to be able to watch herself properly. “Hey guys, it is” she breathed stopping as she picked her up phone and checked the date “it’s March 20th” she told them “a Friday and it’s 11:20 am” she announced “and we are currently in the new set up my husband designed for me” she said with a giggle. “He just up and surprised me with all of this” she said looking around the room showing them a bit of the behind the scenes of her sit down set up. “I am so very grateful; you guys have no idea” she stressed as she walked out of the room her long hair swinging behind her. “I was shocked too” she added a she moved towards their kitchen “he got everything for it, set it up, he even got me this camera” she said looking at them “which is very light, very clear” she emphasized. “Well what do you guys think?” she asked them “I think it’s pretty freakin’ clear” she told him. “I love it, it’s small and sleek. And it fits right in the majority of my purses, which is a bonus because I can incorporate more vlogs outside of the house now too, without the hassle” she breathed.
Tumblr media
Mia grabbed her baby pink and gold glass bottle unscrewing it’s top, she placed it against the fridge door filling it with cold water for her to drink while she worked today. “So, I am going to take you guys in there, show you an overview of it” she told him as she thought about it. “I have pregnancy brain” she said shaking her head a little. “I am going to show you guys the room, oh!” she said as she pulled the bottle away. “I want to give you guys an update on the baby, show you some new products that I think has helped me during my first trimester” she told them “they aren’t too new, but I think they will help some of you other first time mother’s” she said as she moved back towards the room. Mia closed the door behind her and set the camera up making sure she connected it to the large monitor they had now, before she sat down guzzling down the water thirstily.
Tumblr media
Mia stopped to catch her breath and she sat the bottle down screwing its top back on it before she grabbed her phone and said “so as of right now I am exactly 10 weeks” she said as she looked at the app that was on her phone. Mia picked up her phone and showed the little imagery from the app “it says I am 10 weeks” she said looking at herself in the monitor. “It tells me baby Carter is 1 inch and weighs 0.25 ounces” she said with a smirk “that’s crazy” she chuckled her other hand resting on her knee. “Baby is the size of a fig” she also added before she lowered the phone closing it and sitting it aside. “I don’t have any cravings right now, but I no longer like the smell of broccoli, which is weird. Because I used to love it but now it’s a major turn off” she told the camera with a headshake.
Tumblr media
“So, for a personal update” she said clasping her hands together gently “I will say truthfully my biggest trial during this first trimester has been conquering my morning sickness” she told them. “I am technically 3 months pregnant” she told them “I will be entering my second trimester shortly and I hear about how much easier it gets for women when they do” she chuckled. “So, we will see” she told them, giving the camera a knowing look. “But my husband and I found some awesome stuff that I feel really helped with my morning sickness” she told them. “We had a doctor’s appointment to check in on our pumpkin” she said as she reached down beside herself picking up the items she wanted to discuss. “We had some concerns” she told them “nothing bad” she added before she said “mine were my morning sickness definitely, I wanted to know if my doctor had any recommendations for me considering I had tried several different things. But crackers, ginger-ale, and soup just weren’t cutting it honestly. And my husband’s concern was night sweats…” she said using air quotes. “I wasn’t aware of it myself but that’s a whole thing and I am completely transparent on this channel so, yeah” she said shrugging. “I can say we do live in Texas; it’s starting to warm up a lot here and it’s about 75 degrees at 8 and 9 o’clock at night so” she shrugged once more.  “Your girl apparently sweats like a stripper in church at night and before anyone drops below in the comments any fat jokes” she said pausing for a long time her head tilted as she looked at the camera. The edited clip is zoomed in slowly before it snaps back and Mia says “I’m fat, get over it” she said before she moved back to the items.
Tumblr media
“For the night sweats, I simply wear less clothing to bed. Drop the temperature at night. My doctor said due to the hormones and increase blood flow etcetera pregnant women sweat and there’s that. Not much you can really do to combat it” she told the lens. “If anything, I tend to keep this bottle” she said raising it into the camera view “filled with water on the nightstand and it stays pretty cold, so it cools me down throughout the night when I drink from it,” she told them. “For the morning sickness however” she told them sitting the bottle down again my doctor suggested vitamin B6, caffeine free herbal teas, resting more, eating less greasy foods, and eating smaller portions” she told them. “My husband ordered a few bottles of the vitamin B6, which I take along with my regular prenatal vitamins. I am not going to speak on these much because collectively I can’t say that the vitamins work phenomenally on their own or if it’s the collection of things that I do, that has helped me. If you get what I mean” she told them showing them the bottle before she sat them down. “But I have noticed a difference, I say a vitamin never hurts, and you should give it a try if it has the potential of helping you. My husband said he ordered them from Amazon” she said giving them a knowing look. “Which isn’t a shocker we are the Amazon freaking family in this complex” she chuckled.
Tumblr media
“I bought these herbal teas from our local whole foods” Mia said as she lifts the boxes, holding one of each in hands as she showed them. I have peppermint and ginger flavor. Out of the two I lean towards the peppermint one, but I do enjoy the ginger more during the day honestly” she told them. “I will usually drink the peppermint in the evening or at night” she told them “and the ginger during the day” she sighed. “I try to limit myself, but I could drink 3 cups of peppermint tea a day. I try not to though” she reiterated. “I only sweeten it with raw honey from whole foods” she added “and really I hardly use it in the ginger one” she breathed. “These help soothe my stomach greatly and I would 10/10 recommend trying this method of just hot teas, I don’t feel the brand matters these are Yogi, just steep it as instructed and drink it down” she told them sitting the boxes aside.
Tumblr media
“I get as much rest as I can. I am a full-time student, that’s better said than done any day” she told them. “But I am not shy to naps right now honestly. I think I nap after every class or every time I eat” she chuckled. “Especially after…” she said sipping her invisible glass of tea. “Which might I add the morning sickness is like” she breathed weighing things with her hand “neck and neck with the sex* drive. I don’t get it” she said shaking her head “imagine having to throw up during sex*” she said blurting the word in the final cut. “It’s not cute” she said tucking her lips in as she shook her head once more. “Anyhow” she said changing the subject “I did cut back on grease, which wasn’t hard because truthfully I did not eat that bad beforehand. I am addicted to Chickfila and McDonald’s fries, but I didn’t eat much of it during the day considering I do like to cook, and I do cook often” she told them. “Far as portion controls go, I did make them smaller and just added healthier snacks in between. Not to mention” she said having a thought. “I make this amazing smoothie, of which I have become addict to, and I drink that every day now” she told them.
Tumblr media
“I will drop the ingredients in the description box. But it mainly has banana, peanut butter, almond milk, ice of course, cacao, a little of my husband’s whey protein” she said measuring on her fingers and she thought to herself before she said “yes I will definitely drop it below because I am drawing a blank, but there’s other stuff I add” she told them. “It is so good” she told them, “so that’s like one of my sweet treats of the day and that will hold me for some time so that cuts down on what I intake in the morning” she breathed. Mia lifted her bottle unscrewed it and began to drink down its contents before she closed it and sat it back down. “I try to cook breakfast every morning, I was raised that it is an important meal of the day and I feel like it kicks starts me having a productive one. So, if I can I try to make us breakfast every morning” she said “today I did not” she snorted chuckling. “I woke up super late, so I had my smoothie” she told them.
Tumblr media
“We also got me some bra’s recently, which I really needed. I went up in my sizing” she told them. “I just happened to notice when we were in Paris, I was so uncomfortable in all of the bras that I had at that time” she breathed “so a lot of what I wore I think I just said F it and didn’t wear one because my boobs were just so freaking tender and sore all the time” she told them. “When we got home, I went to a regular department store and got sized. So, I went from a 46 double D to a 46 triple D or E rather” she told them camera before she picked a bra up. “So, with that we ended buying a bunch, it was more so my husband than me” she chuckled. “We went to two separate locations” she told them “retailed they are like 50 plus dollars apiece, I think he bought me like 20 to 40 of them” she said not too sure. “He bought varieties” she told them, “regular bras, sports bras, nursing bras, and so on” she listed. “The boutique we went to was a little ways out but I can say it was worth it, I love the quality of the bras and the feel of them” she nodded. “I will be sure to drop the boutique name and location in the description box as well” she told them as she placed the bra aside.
Tumblr media
“I will show you guys some more of the other bras” she told them as she moved to stand up and she grabbed the camera moving into the massive walk-in closet turning the light on. “This is the walk-in closet in our place” she walked over to the middle drawers and opened one showing the other bras “here are the other bras we picked up, I have so plain nude ones and black ones” she said showing them as she flipped through the bras. “And some cute and decorative ones” she said the camera angled at the bra drawer and she combed through the various ones. “So that’s that” Mia said closing the drawer with her hip and she turned back around moving to exit the closet, turning the light back off. Mia moved toward the kitchen, King trotting behind her as she did, and she panned the camera to him “look at who’s following me” she chuckled as she knelt down closer to King. “Hey” she said as she scratched his head playfully “hi baby” she said happily as cooed over him before she stood back up and continued to walk Mia turned the camera to herself and she said to the camera “okay so I am going to take King out for a little quick walk” she said looking down at him “and I am going to feed him, make sure his bowl has water and stuff and then I’ll be back to give you guys and overview of the room” she told them before she placed her hand over the camera.

[ Saturday, March 21st, 2020 ]
“Hey guys!” Mia said cheerfully as she rested in her bed, her hair tied and face freshly washed. “Today is Saturday, March 21st” she said. “I totally ended yesterday’s vlog with me walking King and I had all intentions of coming back, but I got busy and sidetracked with a group project I had to get done” she said rolling her eyes. “So, I had to stroll all the way to the campus and met up with some 3 of my classmates to get the project done completely” she said rubbing her eyes and her forehead. “It took forever, I have always hated group projects and assignments because truthfully” she shrugged “Not everyone has good work ethics. I think I left the campus at about 7 or 8 pm which was crazy to me” she said shaking her head. “But it’s done, there’s no stressing over that anymore. I am happy” she told them as she moved to get up out of the bed and the camera caught a very small glimpse of Tyler’s outline beneath the sheets lying in bed in the background as she moved towards their kitchen “it’s” she breathed softly as she walked towards the stove and she panned the camera to the time “9:30 am” she told them tiredly. “And I am about to make me a smoothie, my husband a protein shake” she breathed setting the camera up on the counter.
Tumblr media
“I think I am going to make spinach and cheese eggs, some turkey sausage, and a little fruit” she shrugged. “He’s laying down, he’s probably already had some cereal or something” she said scratching her arm idly. “He woke up very earlier today, he’s an artist. So, I can say his creative flow happens either first thing in the morning or late, late at night” she told them.
Tumblr media
In this clip of the video, it is speed up as you watch Mia cook around the kitchen in a Ethika pull over camo bra and staple shorts. Never mind the fact that the spandex held Mia in all of the right places as she moved around.
“Okay, so breakfast is served” Mia said as the camera is zoomed in onto their plated meals before she turned the camera to herself and says. “So, we are going to eat, and I’ll be back shortly” she told them, placing her hand over the camera.
“Okay so it’s about 10:45 am” Mia says looking at her phone screen for the time as she held the camera up to her face. “I am going to now show you the overview of the room” she told them as she sat her phone on the cleaned kitchen counter and she walked down the hallway passing a large mirror. “I changed after we ate, I just have on this Pretty Little Thing basic white V-neck and some of their lounge or sports wear pants” she said turning to the side. “My husband likes when I wear these” she said pulling her shirt up a bit as she angled her ass just right “any who” she chuckled before she opened the door to the room. She stood in the door way and said “this is how it’s looking right now, don’t mind those boxes over there in the corner” she pointed out “those are amazon packages I need to open with a few little things I want to try inside them” she said.
“Um, it does look like a lot of equipment and stuff. But it isn’t, we didn’t want to go overboard. This is just a two-bedroom place. We will have to move me out of this space eventually to turn this into a nursery” she told them. “I know some people asked about that on the last video, what we were going to do once the baby did come and we decided on a nursery layout” she breathed. “I think I will move my step up into the living room or maybe we get rid of a dining table” she shrugged. “You guys haven’t seen this, because I haven’t taken you guys in that space, but we have two massive tables with 20 plus chairs at them and honestly” she chuckled “even with both sides of the family together one table is large enough to accompany everyone. So, I may ask my husband can we remove that table or sell it or something. I don’t know” she said moving her hand to her mouth as she thought to herself.
“But this is the set up” Mia said getting back on topic “I have a backdrop; I have the other fabric choices in the closet for right now. I have 2 soft box lights” she said moving around the room now to show each item. “I took the chair and the side tables you saw in the first video out. He bought me a longer table to rest my laptop and stuff on. We got rid of the obvious bed in here. I think he sold that; I am not sure. I came home and it was gone” she told them. “I have a new chair, which I love” she said showing the baby pink chair to them. “Everything in here is pink, gold, and white. Very much cut aesthetically pleasing” she told them. “I have small decorative pieces here and there to add to the look, but again outside of a plant I didn’t add much in here only because I know it has to change anyway. Now we don’t know the sex of the baby, but if it is a girl some of this stuff can double as décor for her, if not. Well like I said it’s moving” she told them as she slowly panned the room “that’s my large monitor” she said as she continued to move past it slowly.
Tumblr media
“Checking in” Mia said as she looked to the camera set up on the table near the kitchen. “It is 1 pm in the afternoon. I just made myself some lunch, my husband is gone. He’s out working and stuff” she breathed. “And I made a salmon burger” she told them, “I will have to show you guys my recipe one day. I had that, sweet potatoes fries, and water” she said lifting her bottle for them to see how much of the water in 1-liter bottle was left. Mia panned the camera to the textbooks and her notes “so I am studying now and doing some homework. We will be on Spring break soon, so I am trying to finish strong” she told them. “And I am going to set you guys up to watch my techniques a bit” she said. Mia sat the camera up and she began taking notes, using various colored gel pens and various colored highlighters, she wrote in very neat and legible handwriting as she showed them how her brain worked to process what she was reading and studying. Mia focused on the textbook flipping the page, she didn’t skim she read the book word for word before she scribbled something down quickly each time. She stopped and scrolled her MacBook before she moved back to her textbook and continued to write up her notes. The video then begins to speed up, showing you each hour that passed as she completed her assignments both online and in her notebooks. She moved back and forth before she reached the 4-hour mark and stopped the time-lap.
“Okay, so I managed to type up some work. I started an essay. I finished 4 assignments and I studied for one of my finance classes, I study hard because those kick my ass* the most” she said the word being bleeped out. “Now King is whining by the door, so I am going to take him out and let him get some fresh air. I am going to feed him; give him some water and I’ll check in a little later” Mia said with a smile before she placed her hand over the camera.
Tumblr media
[ Sunday, March 22nd, 2020 ]
“What’s up people” Mia said as the camera facing her in a full face of makeup and her hair down her back. “I just got back from church” she said truthfully. “If I can I make sure I get my butt up every Sunday and go to church” she told them. “After I left there, I stopped by the store to get groceries and I am going to tell you guys what I got” she said. “I changed out of my church clothes” she told them, showing herself in a mirror. “I am nice and comfy now. On Sunday’s I try to bathe King, clean the house. House cleaning is definitely on Sunday’s for me, that is when I am the least busy” she told them. “My husband is out; he doesn’t go to church with me” she notified.
She turned the camera towards the bags of groceries, “it seems like a lot, but honestly I needed stuff to make today’s dinner and we needed to buy actual stuff for the house. It had been a while” she told them. “So, I stopped at whole foods” she said setting the camera up angled at the bags.
Tumblr media
Mia has everything set up on the counter, and she held the camera that was facing the food for right now. “I sat it all out and I am just going to name each item for you” she told them “I think I am going to make my famous lasagna, which I have not made for my husband yet. So, I am excited to see how he’ll react to it. If he’ll like it or not” she told them. While either pointing or touching each item Mia began to list off across the countertop “there is lasagna noodles, olive oil, ground turkey instead of ground beef simply because I am trying to cut back on greasy and fatty foods like my doctor said” she breathed. “Fresh garlic, oregano, marinara sauce which I got 2 jars of because I like to make my lasagna with at least 4 or 5 layers” she said with a hand gesture, moving it side to side. “Ricotta, no particular brand” she shrugged though they couldn’t see her. “Parmesan, parsley, mozzarella, baby spinach mix, Caesar dressing, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon, organic honey, lemon, oranges, bananas, organic peanut butter, chia seeds, cacao nibs, whey protein mainly for my husband who does workout often” she said inhaling deeply before she said “salmon, avocado, everything but the bagel seasoning. For my avocado toast, y’all have to try it” she said plugging the item in.
“Bagels, whole wheat bread, coconut water, orange juice, naked drinks, garlic bread, regular lemonade and raspberry lemonade. Because my husband loves juice, he’s a juice guy. I have to keep juice in the house for him, I can live off water and tea and be fine. A little OJ here and there, but he loves juice” she said turning the camera back to herself now. “So that gives you guys a little idea of what our cart looks like when we go shopping for groceries” she told them as she moved around the kitchen to begin putting the items up in their rightful places. “I am slowly building up some things that I love to cook with in here, far as seasonings and everything goes. While we were still dating my husband lived in our home and he didn’t do much cooking at all, so it was very minimal things in here, but I have added a lot of the necessities for me to cook with in here” she smirked. “I am in the process of organizing our pantry right here” she showed them. “I have all the containers” she told them as she showed each one “and their labels are already on, I hand wrote them. I didn’t mind doing so” she said easily. “I have a few matching baskets for his chips, granola bars, protein bars, and stuff” she said showing a few things. “All of his cereal is in those containers up there. He loves” she emphasized “cereal so it’s a variety” she said panning over it. Mia closed the door and moved to set the camera back up on the countertop.
“I used to pick up a bottle of 2 of wine each time I shopped to keep our wine cellar full but since I can’t drink, I have just left that be” she said gesturing towards that area of the house with her hand. “So, I am going to put these things up fully, and I will be back when I start to clean the place up. It’s only about 1:30 pm right now and I won’t start cooking until about 5 or 6” she told them. “So, during that time, I clean and all those other things I told you guys before” she said.
Tumblr media
“So, this is King” Mia said holding the puppy up to the camera hugging him to her face happily before she pecked his head. “He’s only a month old” she said looking at him as the puppy licked her fingers. “He’s not quite a big boy yet, so I bathe him in the sink for now” she told them. “All the things I use for him” she said as she positioned him in a laying position in her arms “I keep in this baby blue basket, that I have labeled King” she said lifting it with one hand for them to see. “I keep it in the laundry room along with his food and any extra stuff for him, toys, leash, etcetera” she said. “In here I have his small little measuring cup” she said “this is mainly to rinse him off and as quickly as possible before he makes a huge mess” she showed. “Here’s his brush and comb” she said picking up each item for them to see. “His puppy soap, a small little towel just for him, and an essential oil. It helps maintain a fresh scent and they are not harmful to dogs at all, I use the rose or lemongrass ones” she told them. “Pits don’t have strong odors at all, so it just for the heck of it honestly” she shrugged.
The video begins to speed up showing Mia bathing King gently and rinsing him before she dries him off and brushed his fur, she rubs some oil into him before she picks him up in his towel and cuddles him gently to her chest.
Mia held the camera in her hand, and she rested King in his bed in their room, still wrapped in his little towel before she moved to clean the bathroom up. “So now I am going to clean up” she told them, sitting the camera back down. “I am starting with the bathroom, then I am going to clean our bedroom. I use all organic and very clean products especially because of King. If you are cleaning with Bleach or any other harsh products with a dog, just keep in mind they have sensitive noses people” she said looking at the camera. “I use either Method, Thieves, or Meyers” she listed out for them. “Okay so let’s get this started” Mia said before the video began to speed up once more.
Tumblr media
Mia is shown grabbing all the mats and walking out of the room before she returns with a Swiffer and broom. She places those two items aside before she begins to clean the shower and the tub in the shower. She took the stand in their shower out and set it aside before she moved back to clean out the tub first and then moving to clean the entire shower itself. She got on her hands and knees and began to scrub the tile with a brush cleaner, when she was done with each section, she used the bucket she had to pour water against it to clear the tile of its suds. When she was done with that she set everything back into place before she began to clean the sinks and the toilet before she then began to sweep and Swiffer the bathroom floors clean.
Mia is then shown setting the camera up in the room, where she sat King and his bed on their already made up bed. She began to clean up their bedroom putting things in their proper places again before she took, cups and bottles back in their kitchen to be washed. The fast-paced Mia moved to straighten the nightstands up on both their sides before she began to vacuum the rug in their room. Making sure she took King out of the room beforehand did due to his sensitive ears. The plus-sized woman moved around the rug twice before she turned that off and put it away. When Mia returned, she sat King and his bed on the floor in their room again before she cleaned the sitting area up in the room as well.
Tumblr media
“I am all done cleaning now” Mia said as she held the camera up “whew” she breathed out as she licked her lips slowly. “I cleaned our room, the bathroom, the living room, and our kitchen” she told them as she stood in the kitchen now, it being the last place that she cleaned. Mia purposefully left out the other areas of the room assuming Tyler wouldn’t want all of their space exposed, though she hadn’t asked him that yet. “After I finished all of the cleaning. I washed my face clean of all that makeup I had on and I bathed” she said pointing to the camera. “Now I am going to start dinner, my husband is finally back home. He’s in the living room right now so I am going to get started…” she told them as she began to take the items she needed out and placed them on the counter. She set the camera up on the counter again before she said “I am going to cook the lasagna and I think I am going to have a side salad and garlic bread” she told them as she moved.
Tumblr media
The video begins to speed up and Mia starts to grab the pan she needs for her lasagna before she began to prepare the dish completely. Mia moved step by step making the dish in its now speed up pace.
“Here’s the lasagna all cooked and ready, I have garlic bread here, and I made a salad with that spinach mix” she said to the camera as she pointed to each individual dish. “Babe!” Mia called out loudly for Tyler from the kitchen where she was standing.
Tumblr media
Tyler sat in the living room, his feet propped up on the ottoman as he watched the TV closely, following the storyline to a T. As Mia called him, he responded “yeah, babe?” loudly, his eyes not once leaving the TV as he stood up from the couch, without waiting for her response. He slowly began to walk out of the room, stumbling over his two feet a bit as he continued to look at the screen. Once he was at an angle where he really couldn’t see it anymore, he turned his body walking normal, his socked feet sliding against the hardwood.
Tumblr media
“Baby come here” Mia called out to him as she grabbed a large spoon and dipped it in the pan for him to try her recipe. The food was still hot, but it wasn’t hot enough to burn his mouth when he ate it. “Come try this baby” she said as she heard him turning to the side as she held the spoon out. She blew the food a little before she said “I want to see if you like my lasagna recipe baby” the camera still rolling, she looked to King resting at her feet in the kitchen before she looked up at him.
Tumblr media
Tyler looked at Mia as she spoke and he nodded slowly as he walked closer, leaning in a little, his chest in the camera view unknowingly. He opened his mouth and accepted the spoon full of lasagna. “Mmm,” he hummed out as he chewed it. “That’s real good babe,” he told her as he wrapped her up in his arms, pulling her to his chest, his hands sliding down to her ass, gripping her there, in front of the camera.
Tumblr media
As Tyler accepted, she smiled knowingly, you could see her in the camera view but not him which she found amusing. As he tasted the sample and told her it was good, she smiled “you really like it?” Mia asked him.
Tumblr media
Tyler held Mia close, cupping her by her ass and he squeezed. “Of course,” he told her as he finished swallowing. “You know everything you cook is damn good,” he complimented her, dropping a kiss on her lips.
Tumblr media
The video began to speed up as the two of them spoke and chuckled with each other. Tyler is seen patting her butt, kissing her lips a few times, making his plate and moving out of the camera view with his dinner.
Mia sits and she eats dinner next to Tyler and she licks her lips of the string of cheese that covered it before she said. “I think I am going to try to upload once or twice a week” biting her lip, and she turned to Tyler even though he wasn’t in the screen at and all and ask, “babe what do you think?” curiously.
Tumblr media
Tyler leaned forward, his elbows on the counter as he ate. At Mia’s words, Tyler nodded slowly. “I think that’s good, steady content promotes more followers,” he said easily, licking his lips.
Mia chuckled at his response, always the supportive one “you are right” she told him as she leaned over her head on his arm for a moment before she sits back upright forking some more food into her mouth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Okay guys, I am going to go cuddle up with the hubby and we are going to watch a movie. A little later I am probably just going to study which you guys saw me do in… yesterday’s vlog” she said with a smile. “So I am going to log out” she said with a smirk a she rested against the kitchen counter “make sure you guys subscribe, like, comment below, and press that little bell button so that you are notified of any future videos from the Carter clan” she said before she placed her hand over the camera again.

Hello, and happy post 4th of July! I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
It was SCORCHING hot here but we still managed to have a great time waving at floats and collecting candy at our neighborhood parade (lots of water trickles on heads plus suckers seemed to do the trick) then attending a friend’s BBQ later that night. There was some miscommunication earlier this week when I thought we were hosting dinner, so it was a nice surprise to be able to walk out the door and hang out at someone else’s home for the night!
These are the same friends whose 2011 4th of July party I made 66 Jello shots for. My, times have changed. ;)
I spent yesterday recovering from the heat – 9 months pregnant + 100+ heat index = taking several days to fully cool down – and continuing to prep for baby girl. Just a couple weeks left, you guys – insanity!!
These past two weeks I’ve felt like doing nothing yet everything at the same time. Although my energy levels are way down and the amount of appointments, meetings, and last minute projects I’m trying to fit in are taking up a huge amount of time, the urge to nest is a very real thing. That said, I’ve been trying to tackle one major thing each night. While Ben is in charge of putting together furniture/painting baby’s bedroom, I’m tackling the washing/prepping of bottles, laundering gobs of newborn clothes (thank goodness for one of my besties who had twin girls with very good taste last year. So funny to see pink in the dryer lint trap!) cleaning bouncers and swings, etc. I think we’ll be totally ready for her when the time comes – if only by the skin of our teeth.
All this hard work means I can spend the next two weeks focusing on these two sweet, sweet souls.
My boys of summer!
Plus prepping 101 meals for the freezer. Wish me luck.
Anyway, wanted to catch up on all things new food products / musicals / Netflix specials in today’s edition of Currently! I hope you have a WONDERFUL summer weekend – catch you on the other side!
Drizzling: Here Michigan Apple Balsamic Salad Dressing. Since my GD diagnosis I’ve been eating at least one giant salad a day, and my favorite Tessemae’s Creamy Ranch dressing started to get a little heavy. That said, I picked up this bottle of dressing at the store a few weeks ago and it is SOOOO good! Tart, tangy, full of flavor, and I love the ingredient list too. Look for this in the refrigerated salad dressing section vs the aisle.
Attending: Hamilton. Ben and I saw Hamilton last week (it’s in town until mid-July) – we’d been DYING to see what all the fuss was about! Ben’s a mega hip hop enthusiast who also loves musical theater so he was actually bopping in his chair for 3 hours straight. I’m not a public bopper but was tapping my foot the whole time. Needless to say, we loved it and I can’t recall another show we’ve seen where every single song was one to remember. I’m so proud of my city for being able to host the touring crew. If you get the chance – do NOT skip Hamilton!
Watching: Ali Wong. I recently watched Ali Wong’s Baby Cobra special on Netflix at the recommendation of a friend and literally can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. Like, years. Maybe my whole life? Ben thought I was off my rocker but once I started I couldn’t stop! Do not watch if you’re easily offended about, well, anything, but if you dare, I promise you a HIGH-larious show.
Playing. The little boys and I have been heading to the backyard for a dip in the blow up pool a couple afternoons each week and like to finish up with a good 10 minute hose blasting session (my water bill hates me.) I truly don’t know who has more fun – them or me, muwahaha. :)
Devouring: peaches. IT’S OFFICIALLY PEACH SEASON, PEOPLE! Sorry to shout, but the beeline I made to the peach portion of the produce section at the grocery store earlier this week after smelling them from afar was rather impressive, if I do say so myself. Since peaches are pretty high in carbs I’ve been slowly savoring one every afternoon this week. It’s the best part of my day. (Recipe for Peach Caprese Salad is on deck for this weekend. ↓)
Visiting: Iowa Distilling Company. I recently visited the Iowa Distilling Company for a fun project (will fill you in on the details later,) and I cannot WAIT to return when I can actually sample some of the products! Great people distilling uniquely Iowa spirits with a killer drink menu, and the neatest “tap room” vibe (think 1875 general store meets approachable hipster hangout.) If you’re ever in Cumming, IA be sure to stop by and try a few tasty beverages with Kyle (the owner) + his crew. The Lemon Honey Zone is calling my name…
Inhaling: Barnana Plantain Chips. I know I just recently mentioned these Barnana Plantain Chips but they’re worth another shout out – I.am.obsessed! They don’t taste sweet nor like bananas, which is a good thing in my opinion, plus they’re thick, crunchy, and full of flavor. They feel like healthy potato chips (shrugs shoulders.) I find them in my grocery store’s health market for about the same price as Amazon. Highly recommend the Brazilian BBQ flavor.
Craving: Fresh Mint Iced Tea. I know what I’m doing with the fresh mint that’s currently taking over my entire herb garden! How refreshing does this ice cold tea from Love and Olive Oil look? They’d make the best preggo popsicles…
Quitting: The Bachelorette. Mama didn’t raise no quitter except that I’m officially closing the door on this season of The Bachelorette. Snoozeville, horrible guys with even worse real world behavior and, I don’t know, Bachelorette – I just not that into you. Bring on Paradise! Fellow fans: am I alone?
Loving: Coconut oil face wash. Not a coconut oil-based face wash, rather, using coconut oil AS my face wash! I saw this method on a fellow blogger’s Instagram account a few weeks ago and have been loving the process and results ever since. At night I massage a dollop of coconut oil all over my face (I use unrefined organic from the grocery store – use refined for less of coconut smell) then place a steaming hot washcloth on top and let it sit until the cloth is cool before wiping everything away. Takes off ALL my makeup, including waterproof mascara and eyeliner, plus my skin feels so, so soft. I never have breakouts when I’m pregnant (thanks, hormones (for once not being sarcastic about hormones!)) so I’m anxious to see if this is still a good skin solution after baby is born. For now I’m loving the simplicity of washing away the day’s dirt and grime with simply coconut oil and a washcloth. It’s the little things.
Blending: Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothies. Since Lincoln is allergic to dairy and super super slim, I’m always looking for ways to fatten and fill him up. A few days ago I made him a Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie with this Silk Chocolate Protein Milk I’d recently found at the grocery store, which is high in both fat and protein (and yes, sugar, but seriously this high-fat and protein/no dairy thing is really tough) and he sucked it DOOWWWN. All I did was blend ~3/4 cup of the milk with 1/2 ripe banana and a big spoonful of peanut butter until smooth, then added ~1 cup ice and blended until thick and frosty. He and his brother each thoroughly enjoyed a glass – think we’ll make them into popsicles soon!
Pick a currently category and fill me in!

All American Road Trip
Chapter One: Get out the Map | Chapter Two: (A Very Little) Leg Room | Chapter Three: (You’re) Gonna Sing the Words Wrong
Chapter Four: You Make Me Live
Ooh you’re the best friend that I ever had I’ve been with you such a long time You’re my sunshine and I want you to know That my feelings are true I really love you Oh you’re my best friend Ooh you make me live
–You’re My Best Friend, Queen
As appalling as it was to depend on Tony Stark – sometimes it seemed to Steve that he’d spent all his post-transformative time being financially dependant on, and therefore in some obscure manner, owned by, the Stark family, and believe you me, Steve resented it – Steve was glad enough for the shiny credit cards that Stark Industries provided.
Steve had gotten used to either snacking regularly around the Tower or just ignoring his hunger. It wasn’t like he hadn’t spent most of his growing-up years in some constant state of not having enough to eat. (the only time in his childhood he hadn’t been hungry was because he was too sick to notice)
But when Sam had pointed out that Bucky was hungry, that was an entirely different story.
And Bucky had been sharing the snacks with Steve. Which almost made it worse; that somehow, over thirty years and nine decades and however many hours there were, Bucky was still fucking looking after Steve, like Steve was a sweet, but ultimately stupid dog that couldn’t look after itself.
The more galling part of that was that it might possibly have been true.
They’d entered the all-you-could-eat diner and Steve hadn’t hesitated. “Seven, please,” he’d told the hostess, who looked at the three of them with wide, wondering eyes. “Believe me, you’ll want to charge us that way.”
Bucky ate like a man used to starving, quietly, efficiently. He didn’t talk. He chased every few bites with a dinner roll, using the spongy surface to clear every drop of gravy and grease from the plate.
He didn’t waste a calorie, either. While high in calories and fat, what Bucky chose from the various stations around the diner were balanced. High nutrient fruits – strawberries, bananas, melon slices, more strawberries – and vegetables. Lots of protein. Bucky was thoroughly practical; right up until he discovered chocolate milk.
Steve wasn’t sure if Bucky had been eating right for months; two years on the run after Insight Day and he still didn’t talk about that. But he certainly wasn’t eating for flavor. At the Tower, at the Wakanda compound, Bucky ate what was put in front of him. He never commented on the flavor or gave any indication that he preferred a thing. Even Steve, who tended to eat peanut butter out a jar with a spoon, had some favorites.
Bucky had been drinking regular milk up until that point; an older woman (by the calendar still probably younger than Bucky, but only by ten years or so) was fiddling with the heavy lift to pour just a little milk into her cup of tea. Bucky started a conversation with her, low and soft and polite, and she probably had something wrong with her eyesight, because the woman didn’t look at him and jump backward – a reaction that many people seemed to have. He leaned against the machine, put his cup under the other tap, and showed her how it worked, filling his own glass with chocolate milk. She managed to get a few drips into her tea cup. Bucky smiled at her, gave a little bow, just tilting his upper body in her direction. Smiled at something she said.
Came back to the table.
Frowned at the cup of brown milk, then shrugged and took a sip.
Drained the glass so quickly Steve thought he was pouring it down his throat.
[more under the cut, or read the whole thing at A03 ]
“Your boy’s got a sweet tooth,” Sam commented as Bucky got back up to refill his glass.
Steve gave Sam a sharp look. “He’s not my boy,” Steve said.
There weren’t words for the dubious expression that crossed Sam’s face. “I ain’t judging, man,” he said. “But that is your boy, don’t have any doubts on that.”
“Maybe once,” Steve said. He couldn’t help the way his stomach twisted, his hands clenched, or he had to swallow down the knot in his throat. Back when he and Bucky were sneaking around to find a quiet spot, loving each other in silence, you did not talk about it. Not unless you were a hundred and ten percent certain the other person was also temperamental. And even then, you were still risking it. Some men had been known to turn in their fellows, in order to divert suspicion. Steve knew it was different now, knew that. But he still had an old, instinctive reaction. His nerves were telling him shut up, shut up, shut up. The hairs on the back of his neck prickled. “He’s my best friend.”
“He’s your best something, is what he is,” Sam said. “Man broke through seventy years of conditioning, for you. You best treat him right.”
Steve scowled.
“I ain’t sayin’ you’re treating him badly,” Sam said, spreading his hands. He twitched his head in the direction of Bucky, who was on his third refill of chocolate milk, being almost unable to stop sampling long enough to return to the table. “I’m saying pay attention, man.”
Steve watched as Bucky finally came back to the table, the way his legs moved, the sway of his hips, the powerful arms, the thousand-yard stare.
“Believe me, I’m paying attention,” Steve said. He almost wished he could ignore Bucky, just a little bit. It might have been better for his peace of mind.
And I’m a tail fin road locomotive From the days of cheap gasoline For sale on the side of the road goin’ nowhere A rusty old American dream This car needs a young man to own him One who will polish the chrome I’ll give you the rest of my lifetime Just don’t let me die here alone –Rusty Old American Dream, Pat Green
All jokes aside, the backseat was tiny. Sam didn’t blame Barnes for spreading out, or for the very minimal bitching the man had managed to work himself up to doing. In fact, Sam might have thought the bitching was doing Barnes some good. He doubted Hydra let the man complain.
But Sam had a sister and a cousin who lived with them more often than not, and grandparents that lived four states away. He wouldn’t say he was happy with long car rides, but he knew how to handle them. He climbed into the back seat, the new bags of snacks tucked in the driver’s side footwell, cranked the passenger side window down, and laid over on the back seat, legs bent and the heels of his sneakers resting against the sill.
“Seriously, Sam?” Steve eyed him from the driver’s seat, using the mirror expressively.
Sam flicked him the bird. “Shut up, man, I’m comfy.” He wasn’t, really, entirely. It’d been several years since the last time he was smashed in the back seat, but he’d also been in the Air Force, sleeping in uncomfortable spots was one of his talents.
“If I wreck, you’re gonna get your legs cut off at the knee,” Steve pointed out.
“So don’t wreck, Captain Safe Driver,” Sam retorted. “Now, hush your mouth and let your boy read.”
Barnes coughed uncertainly. “I can read while you talk,” he said.
“Nah, man, read to us,” Sam suggested. “Ain’t that what people used to do, back in your day, for entertainment.”
“Believe it or not, Sam, we actually had moving pictures back in our day,” Steve said. Sam couldn’t see his expression, but his voice sounded like he was scowling.
“Black and white,” Barnes said. “Silent, with title placards. Remember sneakin’ in a few times. But yeah, I… used to read to you a lot, remember, Stevie? When you were sick, I’d sit next t’you and read, just tons. Used to walk ‘n the gutters sometimes, look for pennies, save ‘em up to get a dime novel at the drugstore.”
“I remember you reading Ellery Queen,” Steve said, his voice soft. “The Greek Coffin.”
“Yeah, y’ little sneak,” Barnes said, laughter in his voice. “You waited ‘til I fell asleep and snuck a peek at the challenge page.”
“You wouldn’t have caught me, if you hadn’t done the exact same thing,” Steve pointed out.
“True,” Barnes admitted.
“Shame on you, Rogers. Reading ahead spoils the fun. I burned myself on that habit,” Sam piped up. “When I was twelve, I was reading George Orwell’s 1984 and I read the last page after about 10 pages in.” He waited, that usually got groans and appreciative noises from his audience, but neither of them made a sound. Oh. Oh, god. “Y’all’ve never read 1984, have you?”
“Nope,” Barnes said, popping the P with a certain amount of gusto. “I haven’t actually read a book since 1943.”
“What was the last book you read?” Sam asked, curious.
“Um,” Barnes said, scratching at the scruff on his chin. “Not sure, maybe Happy Golden Years?”
“Wasn’t it that book your sister sent you?” Steve asked. “Along with some cookies that were mostly stale crumbs by the time we got the box.”
“Yeah, I think,” Barnes said. “That Laura Wilder woman. I used to read that to her, while they were shiny-new. The boy at the pharmacy had a crush on my sister –” he directed that comment at Sam, because surely this was something that Steve knew “– and he had given them to her.” He stopped, took a deep breath. “When… last year. I looked her up. She married that man. I have a grand-niece, and two great-grand-nephews, through them.”
“Have you made contact with them?”
Sam didn’t have to see Barnes’ face to imagine the flat look he was giving Steve. “Can’t think why they’d want me to.”
“C’mon, Buck,” Steve said, “you were a hero. What –”
“Stark ain’t the only person who might be keepin’ tabs on me,” Barnes said. “You think I wanna lead any stray Hydra t’ the only blood kin I got left? No, Stevie. Ain’t worth it for me, and they’re better off jus’ not knowing.”
Couldn’t say the man wasn’t smart, even if he had read Little House on the Prairie. Sam took his foot off the windowsill long enough to kick the back of Barnes’ seat. “Read, boy,” Sam said.
Barnes rumbled in his throat, then fished around in the bag to pull out a hardback novel. He flipped a few pages, drew his finger down the page, and started to read.
It was in Warwick Castle that I came across the curious stranger whom I am going to talk about.  He attracted me by three things: his candid simplicity, his marvelous familiarity with ancient armor, and the restfulness of his company—for he did all the talking.
There was something ironic about listening to a man out of time… reading about a man out of time, but Sam didn’t point it out. He lay back down in the back seat and listened to the man weave the story.
He might not have been able to sing worth shit, but Barnes could read. He was expressive, he did different voices for each of the characters, and he kept turning pages for as long as there was light in the car.
Sam reminded himself to buy more books. A lot more books.
I ain’t got much else to lose I’m faded flat busted Been jaded I been dusted I know that I’ve seen better days One foot in the hole One foot gettin’ deeper crank it to eleven And blow another speaker And I ain’t got, I ain’t got much to lose –Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out), Citizen King
“Don’t know who the fuck thought you deserved a goddamn driver’s license,” Bucky snarled, unkinking himself from the front seat. Shotgun or not, Steve’s driving was terrible no matter what the road conditions were. Steve tailgated, he cut people off, he drove like he was in a fucking warzone and people were throwing grenades.
Bucky’s muscles ached from bracing himself against the door handle. A few times, he’d heard the plastic strain, just an inch from ripping the whole thing off in some vain attempt to keep himself from being smashed to tiny bits when Steve drove the tiny, stupid, unarmored car into a semi tractor-trailer.
Bucky knew, mind you, that tensing up was the worst thing he could do before impact. He’s learned over decades of training and conditioning to go limp for a crash. To roll with the force, eat it up in tumbles and rolls. That loose muscles were unlikely to strain so hard as to snap bones.
He could project trajectories, do the equations in seconds, calculate the turning of the planet, the wind resistance, to see the physics and algebra under the surface of the world, the threads and numbers and variables that moved the world. He could time a jump to the millisecond, he could calculate the paths that would help him catch his prey.
And he still couldn’t help but see every accident that Steve almost had.
He’d been watching that stupid punk nearly commit suicide by idiocy every day of his life from age nine to twenty-seven.
Steve’s reactions were as good as Bucky’s. He wasn’t trained with the specifics of mayhem that the Winter Soldier had been; Steve was just naturally good at wreaking havok.
“This hotel better have a pool, yo,” Wilson said. He was stretching luxuriously, as if he hadn’t spent the last half day asleep in the backseat. “An’ a poolside bar would not be a tragedy.”
“You are too used to living in the compound,” Steve snapped. Steve looked tired. How could that even be right? Steve had as much stamina as the Winter Soldiers. He’d certainly fought like he couldn’t be exhausted.
“You’re damn straight,” Sam said. “Defending the world needed to have its perks.”
“Is that what we’ve done, Sam?” Steve said.
Oh. Oh.
Steve wasn’t tired, not the way most people would mean it. Steve was exhausted. From carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. From the realization that what he’d done wasn’t saving the world.
“We got played,” Bucky said. It was nothing but the truth. Zemo had played them; had sought out all their weaknesses and used them against the other. Mistrust, lies, emotions had run high. Steve, who’d been badly compromised in his concern for Bucky. Bucky who’d lived so long as a tool that he had no idea how to function as a team. The drive for revenge all the way around. Zemo had played them like chess. Played them right into a trap.
And they’d tumbled in like fools. Breaking everything that had been important.
Personally, Bucky thought Stark was right; the Avengers weren’t for arms dealers. They weren’t for piddly terrorist groups and black market weapons dealers. They weren’t for the evils that humans could do against each other – and humans were pretty damn capable of hurting each other. The Avengers were for things like Loki, things like aliens and mutants that could crack the planet in half like a dinner plate in a shooting gallery.
Zemo had wrecked them.
They were floundering now, trying to find a stable balance while the world still rocked underneath them.
And Steve was carrying that fulcrum point. No matter how much Stark might hate them now, for what they’d done, for what they were, for who they were and the lies they’d told and the blood on their hands. Stark knew that. He was doing his best.
But Steve couldn’t find center.
“Pool sounds great,” Bucky said. Because Steve needed to relax, and he’d only do that, only had a chance of doing that, if Bucky led the way.
He ached to do it; he hadn’t been able to reach out, he didn’t want to touch Steve with his hands that had taken so much life, had destroyed so much. He’d killed Howard Stark, for fuck’s sake, the man who’d made all of this, all of them, possible. Hydra had stolen Erskine and Stark and so many others who’d helped Steve, kept him from dying, choking on his own blood, and Bucky had helped them destroy that, against his will, but he’d done it nonetheless.
He hadn’t been able to reach out. Steve had been the one to touch, to clasp Bucky’s shoulder, to put a hand over his, to stare with those longing blue eyes that just wanted to have his friend back.
In reality, it couldn’t have been more than five seconds that he hesitated. In Bucky’s head, it was fifty years, a hundred, half a million years. He reached out, slung that metal arm over Steve’s shoulders and drew him in, the way he’d done for the whole of their lives as free men, tucked Steve up against his body as if he was still a ninety-eight pound weakling.
“Let’s go have some fun, Stevie,” Bucky suggested.
Steve managed a trembling smile, and when Bucky returned it, Steve’s smile grew even brighter until the whole area was lit with its radiance. “Yeah, ya jerk, let’s do that.”

Varied Baby Food Recipes 8–12 months, Fast & Easy
How to make fast Baby Food recipes, By now your baby has probably mastered purées and tried a wide variety of  nutritious—and delicious—new tastes. It’s time to get more adventurous with his meals by introducing fresh flavors and more complex baby food. This is one of my favorite stages in a baby’s eating career. By nine months Rosa was  more comfortable in the high chair, more at ease with utensils, and just  more expressive (dare I say even more cute?). Each day was different, and I  was curious to see what flavors she would prefer and whether most of the  finger foods would end up in her mouth or on the floor (um, often the floor .  . . this is also when we invested in a small handheld vacuum).
I prepared most of the dishes in this chapter specifically for Rosa, contin-  uing to use the freezer for easy meals during the week. But a few of the  recipes (I’m thinking of Baby’s Bolognese, Greek Fish and Tomatoes, and  Curried Cauliflower and Chickpeas) were our dinnertime standbys that just  happened to make delicious, age-appropriate baby food. And sometimes it  works the other way around: After making the Rosemary Roasted Pears just  for Rosa, I promptly ate half of it myself.
List of Baby Food Recipes:
Rosemary Roasted Pears
Salmon, Kale, and Sweet Potato Smash
Savory Beef and Broccoli
Curried Cauliflower and Chickpeas
Comforting Chicken Soup
Baby’s Bolognese
Sweet Spiced Chicken Stew
Mighty Green Beans
Beets in Yogurt with Dill
Greek Fish and Tomatoes
Pumpkin-Banana Mash
Fruity Tofu Pudding
Since your baby’s tummy is still so tiny, you want to be sure to feed her themost nutrient-
dense foods possible, full of protein, iron, and all the vita-mins and minerals she needs to be healthy and strong. The recipes in thischapter fit the bill perfectly, chock-full of both nutrition and flavor.
As your baby grows and becomes more proficient at chewing and swal-lowing, you’ll want to maintain more texture in her food. Instead of using ablender, transition to pulsing dishes in a food processor, blending them witha handheld immersion blender, or simply employing a knife and fork to dothe job (less dishes!). Don’t be afraid to feed your child chunkier foods onceshe has mastered purées. According to a 2009 study, children who started lumpier foods between six and nine months had more food acceptance atage seven.
During this period you should also offer your baby a wider variety of finger foods. Look for ideas in chapter four.
Continue with a sippy cup of water at each meal. At around eight to ten months it’s time to move on to a cup with a straw, which will allow yourbaby to train another set of muscles and learn new drinking skills. Considerboth sippy and straw cups as transitional tools, rather than permanent waysof drinking. By 12 months, your toddler is ready for an open cup. Start experi-menting with very small amounts of milk or water and have plenty of kitchentowels at hand during the learning period. This upgrade is extremely impor-tant for your child’s oral health and development of feeding skills, so don’tlet the mess deter you (as tempting as that may be).
Serving Sizes
Your baby will likely be able to handle ¼ cup or more ofeach of the meals in this chapter. Most of the recipes makemany times more than that, so there will be plenty to refrig-erate or freeze for future meals.
Wholesome feeding tips
Make sure your baby has transitioned to a regular feeding schedule by now, a structure that includes three set meals a day, plus a midmorning and  midafternoon snack. Some babies also need a bedtime snack, so be guided  by your little one.
Continue to avoid added salt until your baby is 12 months old, and take this opportunity to attune her palate to foods without a lot of added sugars.
Babies at this stage love to explore. Let your little one touch and squeeze the food. By ten months he may be ready to practice with a fork and spoon.
Don’t be alarmed if your baby chows down at one meal and then hardly eats at the next, or if he rejects a food he liked just yesterday. Babies’ appetites are  always in flux, and they are still experimenting with flavors. Trust your baby,  and never pressure him to eat.
Your child may make a funny face when he tries a new food, but don’t give up as long as he continues to eat! At this stage most children are open to new  foods, so continue to serve a variety and meet your baby’s frowns with smiles.
Rosemary Roasted Pears
Give your baby a head start on sophisticated flavors with this delicious twist on  basic applesauce.

Bolognese baby food
This recipe will keep you in sauce for the foreseeable future, and you’ll be glad  once you see how much your little one loves it. Freeze some in small quantities to  defrost quickly for your baby’s meals; freeze the rest in larger portions for the  whole family to eat over pasta.
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup finely chopped onion
2 medium carrots, peeled and finely chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
½ teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
One 28-oz. can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons ricotta cheese
  For serving:
¼ cup cooked whole-wheat orzo
Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized pot. Add the ground beef, onion, carrots, and garlic. Sauté over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink,  about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
Add the rosemary and stir to combine. Add the chicken broth and tomatoes. Bring the sauce to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook, stirring  occasionally, for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the ricotta  cheese.

Sweet Spiced Chicken Stew
An immersion blender works particularly well when mashing this lightly spiced  stew. Don’t be tempted to leave out the prunes. They add a deep and pleasing  sweetness, plus they are excellent for your baby’s digestive health.
⅓ cup low-sodium chicken broth
½ cup water
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 2-inch chunks
1 medium zucchini, thinly sliced into half moons
4 pitted prunes, chopped

1½ cups cooked quinoa
2 tablespoons almond butter
4 mint leaves, chopped
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Toss the green beans with the olive oil. Spread on the prepared baking sheet and roast until tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the green beans with the quinoa, almond butter, and mint leaves. Add 2 tablespoons of water. Beets in Yogurt with Dill
1½ cups chopped, cooked beets (about 10 oz.)
2 tablespoons plain, whole-milk Greek yogurt

Forget the fact that these beets are smooth, creamy, and surprisingly sweet. They  are worth making for the bright magenta color alone.
Purée the beets in a blender until smooth.
To serve, stir together 2 tablespoons beet purée with the 2 tablespoons  Greek yogurt. Sprinkle with the dill.
Makes about 1½ cups
Nutrition per serving (¼ cup): 40 calories; 3g protein; 2g fat (1g sat. fat); 4g car-  bohydrates; 1g fiber; 3g sugars; 37mg sodium; 44mg calcium; 0mg iron; 87mg  potassium; 5mg Vitamin C; 438IU Vitamin A.
Greek Fish and Tomatoes
I make a variation of this dish for my (grown-up!) personal chef clients. For a hit of  brine I always roast some capers or pitted Kalamata olives along with the tomatoes.  Let your older baby explore these flavors as well by serving them on the side.
Olive oil
6 oz. red snapper fillet or other white fish, bones removed
½ cup grape tomatoes, quartered
2 tablespoons pitted Kalamata olives, halved, or 2 teaspoons capers
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Rub a small baking pan with olive oil.
Place the snapper on the prepared pan. Drizzle with ¼ teaspoon olive oil, spreading it over the fish with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, olives or capers, ½ teaspoon olive oil, and oregano. Spoon over the fish. Most
of it will land on the pan;  that’s fine. Roast until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 10 minutes.  Cool slightly.
Transfer the fish, tomatoes and any juices to a large bowl, leaving behind the olives or capers and the fish’s skin. With an immersion blender, food  processor, or knife and fork, mash the fish and tomatoes until you get the  desired consistency for your baby. Serve the olives or capers on the side.
Makes about 1 cup
Age It Up: Before mashing, this is a lovely, easy dinner for the grown-ups and big  kids in the household. Just salt and pepper the grown-up’s portions.
Nutrition per serving (¼ cup): 53 calories; 8g protein; 1.8g fat (0g sat. fat); 1g car-  bohydrates; 0g fiber; 1g sugars; 55mg sodium; 9mg calcium; 0mg iron; 229mg  potassium; 4mg Vitamin C; 204IU Vitamin A.
Pumpkin-Banana Mash
What a treat! Buttery-soft banana is mixed with smooth and creamy pumpkin purée  and spiked with cinnamon. Be sure to use a ripe banana for the sweetest flavor.
1 teaspoon unsalted butter
1 medium banana, sliced

We have collard greens, black-eyed peas, hush puppies, biscuits, sweet potato pie and lots of gravy. Most players love it, but we also have a baked catfish for players who are still looking to stay on the approved diet. – Mark Farner • What we feel most has no name but amber, archers, cinnamon, horses and birds. – Jack Gilbert • When a kid says “smell my hand,” it almost never smells like cinnamon. – Brian P. Cleary • You know, you still owe me pancakes. I think I could go for…apple cinnamon ones now. “ “Apple cinnamon? You sure are demanding.” “It’s all right. I think you’re man enough for it.” “Thetis, if I actually believed you had either apples or cinnamon in your kitchen, I’d make them for you right now.” I didn’t answer. I was pretty sure I had some year-old Apple Jacks, but that was about it. – Richelle Mead • You liked me.” I smiled. “You were smitten with me. You were speechless to behold my beauty. You had never met anyone so fascinating. You thought of me every waking minute. You dreamed about me. You couldn’t stand it. You couldn’t let such wonderfulness out of your sight. You had to follow me.” I turned to Cinnamon. He licked my nose. “Don’t give yourself so much credit. It was your rat I was after.” She laughed, and the desert sang. – Jerry Spinelli

MORE JAW DRAMA…LIKE IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING
MICHAEL SAID IF HE HEARS THE WORD JAW ONE MORE TIME WE MAY DIVORCE.
Lol.
But seriously, I am sick of it too. Such a drag.
So basically as you guys know, I had double jaw surgery about 4-ish years ago. Well, recently I realized that my lymphatic system in my face wasn’t draining properly- this was causing me to swell up like a balloon any time I stepped on a plane, traveled to higher altitude, &/or drank too much alcohol. Even salt! Like forget it- one too many grams of salt & I was immediately Fat Bastard.
I was over it. Personally, I became convinced that the reason I was swelling so much was because of the screws & plates in my face. I mean it can’t be GOOD for you to have metal in your face blocking your flow. My acupuncturist told me this too- he said the screws/plates from double jaw surgery were JUST BAD. Especially because it goes against everything Chinese medicine says.
So I said to myself “fuck it- I want this shit out!”
MY JAW SITUATION
If you can’t tell, when I get my head stuck on something, I get my head stuck on something. I couldn’t let it go.
So I found a jaw surgeon in LA ( as you know we recently moved from San Diego to Los Angeles ) & immediately booked an appointment. It all went well. We didn’t remove every single screw but the majority of them. Immediately after surgery I SWELLED RIGHT THE FUCK UP. Which is to be expected- it happens after an invasive surgery. But now, 3 weeks later, I am feeling better…& I should add: more contoured & less swollen than before the surgery. WHICH WE LOVE.
You could definitely say it was a success…& I am convinced my theory was right.
Anyway, so that’s my jaw drama. & while we are at it- let’s talk tips to fight inflammation because boy I am the fucking queen of that. AHEM:
♡ Watermelon juice!!!
Watermelon juice was my main request because it’s non-acidic. I like to add a TON of lime too. Lime is acidic but turns alkaline in the body. So watermelon x lime is just fucking gold. I’ve been chugging it like a sorority sister chugs Jungle Juice at a frat mixer. Watermelon juice is just perfect in every way. Go for the juicy red flesh at the center of a watermelon because it’s the only nutrient-rich area, forget the white part. The white part sucks, kinda. Some other benefits: watermelon is great for blood flow, it’s anti-inflammatory ( perfect for surgery ), & has TONS of vitamins and minerals. ALSO IT’S A DIURETIC. Cleans you out. Bottoms up!
♡ Next up, Mr. raw coconut juice.
I like this baby for its electrolytes. Raw coconut water is filled with electrolytes which REALLY boosts hydration. Hydration is key in sickness recovery. I always search for the pink coconut waters because supposedly they contain more antioxidants. This one is my favorite brand by far! Love it when it’s a baby pink mixture ( this happens only sometimes depending on the coconuts they get ).
♡ Heyyyy Kefir!
Since I had to take some more antibiotics for this surgery, I needed something with probiotics to coat my stomach. This kefir smoothie makes all the difference. Kefir is a whole different blog post but basically it’s “a sour-tasting drink made from cow’s milk fermented with certain bacteria. Also, a great source of probiotic bacteria and yeast, and requires daily maintenance, if using milk kefir grains. It is generally more sour in flavor and of a pourable consistency. Milk kefir may also be used in many, many recipes.” When I take antibiotics I ALWAYS balance it out with a probiotic. This is why kefir is amaze; it balances the antibiotic out by promoting good bacteria. This smoothie is simple. Nothing crazy because I definitely don’t want to shock my system.
♡♡♡ TSC Kefir Probiotic Smoothie
1 banana 1 cup kefir Handful of kale 1 splash almond milk Handful of ice Top with cinnamon ( << an anti-inflammatory )
Directions: blend. Garnish with cinnamon & cheers!
♡ Now let’s talk about liquid gold!
A full blown Vitamin C juice!! My favorite…orange/carrot/ginger/turmeric. SO healing for the system when you’re in recovery ( or on any day ). The orange relieves constipation, is full of potassium, & again, turns alkaline in the system ( so it’s essentially NON acidic ). The crunchy powerfood carrot does wonders: they’re full of fiber & literally flush nasty-ass toxins from the body. SO cleansing. Ginger, one of my favorites, is a real life saver because it takes away nausea. And typically surgery brings on nausea, yuck. Ginger also reduces gas, has a warming effect, & stimulates circulation. Lastly turmeric root!!! My home girl. Turmeric ( like real turmeric. Ever seen it at the grocery store? It looks like a sick bug. You can actually buy it online too ) is the shit in juices. Turmeric root is INSANE for inflammation. I’ve been shooting it in shot glasses #rebel.
♡ ICE ROLL THE FUCK OUTTA YOUR FACE.
Here’s the deal. I’ve been doing ice facials since Sonja Morgan from RHONY recommended them after a brutal hangover circa 2014-ish when noble Countess Luann was yelling at Heather Yummie Tummie about being ‘uncool.’ It really wasn’t until my brutal jaw surgery that I discovered the IT beauty tip of 2016 ( AKA MY LIFE LINE ). IT FIGHTS INFLAMMATION- I DO IT EVERY MORNING. TRUST ME.
Let me set the scene, years ago: I was actively perusing Amazon ( SHOCKING, this is something I do on the regular ) & was searching ‘jaw surgery book.’ Weirdly, an ice roller popped up.
So I was like, “umm, yes. This will make life easier PLUS give me a little lymphatic drainage while I’m rolling downward on my swollen jaw.”
Added to cart……..& then shit, the rest is history.
Not only did I fall absolutely HEAD OVER HEELS in love with my ice roller ( I use the white roller with a blue handle ), I also entered into a committed relationship with my ice roller. Like I said: I use it every ( EVERY ) day, once sometimes twice a day for as long as it’s cold ( usually 2 to 3 minutes per time ). In fact, I’m grumpy if I don’t get to use it first thing in the AM! Bye swelling.
♡ Lastly: TEA.
This one isn’t really too healthy but it’s keeping me refreshed. I get a large Starbucks iced green tea with two splashes of passion fruit & no sweetener. Obviously this isn’t like organic, homegrown, gold star tea BUT it’s cold on my throat & feels good plus it forces me to drink more water. And well, I just like it. Also, I’ve definitely been sneaking some mint chocolate chip ice cream because ‘help me, I’m sick.’ If you’re so healthy, lucky you, drink organic Numi green tea & skip the iced Starbucks.
♡ Oh, & another one not pictured:
I HAVE BEEN CHUGGING OWL VENICE BONE BROTH IN DISGUSTING AMOUNTS. I’ve been told it’s the best thing you can put in your system BEFORE & AFTER surgery. I add lemon & seriously GULP, GULP, GULP. A post on the broth can be found here.
ALSO: using Valor oil, taking massive amounts of arnica & turmeric ( I AM OBSESSED WITH TRUVANI’S TURMERIC TABLETS because they’re real deal turmeric with black pepper- I take them all the time ), using TONS OF ICE for ice facials ( which has helped me the most, especially this specific ice roller ), dry brushing, detoxing, juicing, applying real aloe vera/raw coconut oil, & also I’m really trying to avoid salt. ANY OTHER TIPS? Please share.
Before we go I also want to discuss pros of having double surgery in the first place because it seems like it’s been an on-going thing. Also this is important because I receive a lot of DM’s on questions about the initial surgery:
SO PROS OF MY JAW SURGERY:
+ I feel balanced now. I felt out of whack/alignment for my whole life. Towards the end I started to get used to being uncomfortable. Now I feel at peace. This is me now ( still have a long way to go, but this is without photo editing & no makeup- you can’t edit on Snapchat ). Swollen still, but coming down.
+ I haven’t been grinding my teeth AT ALL. This is huge for me because I’ve been grinding my teeth every night of my life to the point where Michael couldn’t sleep.
+ I haven’t snored once. This is another big one because I sounded like a freaking wildebeest when I was sleeping. Now I sleep like a baby without waking up in the middle of night…& Michael can sleep peacefully. This is AMAZING.
+ My bite fits together. Before I could only chew on one side of my mouth & my bite never fit together. Now my teeth fit together like a perfect puzzle piece & my mid-line is on point.
+ No more headaches, cracking my neck, or anxiety around my neck. I would also try to fix my bite myself by holding my jaw in the proper place. Because the issue was skeletal, it put major anxiety in my shoulders & neck. This feeling is gone, gone, gone.
+ Michael has literally seen me at my lowest point looks-wise, so I’m thinking he’s a keeper….LOL.
+ Lastly, my cheekbones look a little higher. A vain plus, but hey it’s a plus.
So that’s that. Thought I would share the process with you guys because you know I like to get specific.
I am off to eat a sourdough peanut butter & jelly sandwich because I got food poisoning last night. The culprit was either bad shrimp or bad cauliflower rice- you decide. If anyone has any food poisoning tips, I am all ears because man, do I feel queasy. Like I said- it’s always something! LOL.
HOPE YOU’RE ALL HAVING A PRODUCTIVE WEEK. See you tomorrow, lauryn x
