“You’re not a REAL fan of [insert band/musician here] if your favourite song is [insert song which is popular and is probably the main reason people have heard of said artist(s)]” is a statement that really annoys me.

Like yes the songs that become really popular with non-fans are usually it the best but they’re (usually) still good songs otherwise they prob wouldn’t be popular in the first place.

Don’t let other people judge whether you’re a “worthy” fan based on your preferences. And please please PLEASE don’t be the person dictating whether or not someone is a “real fan” because they like a popular song.

Dad: Bribing doesn't work in situations like this.

Dad: they still can't do it. It goes against the system. They can't bend a rule like that

Me: what if we pull some strings through our connections? 🙄

Dad: unfortunately, it's not possible. But maybe until then the whole system changes and there will be more equality. Or maybe the man you'll meet will have the same surname as you. Who knows?

Me: but still it will be HIS surname that gets passed down to our baby, not mine!

Dad: so you'll refuse a man you like if and just because he has the same surname as you?

Me: PROBABLY! >:( .... but, dad! Dads can do anything! I'm counting on you to do it for your only daughter!!! Surely you'll find a way! Right? Thank you for promising me! :D

Dad: !!?? when did I promis-

Me: IT'S MY ONLY GOAL IN LIFE!!!!

Dad: *laughs* that's your goal?.. well.. hmm.. changing the surname is easier than changing the first name.

Me: *GASP* so once my baby grows up enough, I can put a gun to their head and make them change their surname to mine! Ok no I'm kidding. Only if my child wants to. But throughout all their childhood they will have their dad's surname :((((((( I don't like that

Me: *BIGGER GASP* my husband changes HIS last name to MINE, and THEN when we have a kid, our child gets MY surname! Which means I give my husband AND my kid my surname!

Dad: yes, that I can do.

Me: well I can do that myself :/ .... and why are you talking in such a dark tone papa? Are you gonna kidnap my husband or something till he agrees to change his surname to mine?

Dad: it should be an honor for him taking our surname 😒 he can't truly be one of us but he can take the name at least

I’m currently on hour 19 of my second Harry Potter marathon this year and am a bit sleep deprived.
