were there any specific styles/cultures you took inspiration from when designing the telchin clothing styles?

Honestly the tricky answer is: a lot-

Initially, it was very much just like “okay does this shape and colour palette and design look cool? Sick” and just throwing thoughts at a wall.

When it came to defining those broader shapes/colours and adding things like specific cuts, details, patterns, etc, I sort of worked backwards to grab inspirations.

Ulysses initial/main outfit is honestly quite Medieval, European (but notably Norse/Scandinavian in its cut/style), albeit with a ridiculously plunging neckline for some reason lol-

(it was even a bit early on that every time one of the cast drew Ulysses, we’d make his neckline just a little bit sluttier)

HOWEVER the details on the collar and sleeves are directly lifted from ancient Greco-Roman designs, specifically influenced by the “Greek Key” or “Greek Meander” pattern which can be seen in pottery, jewellery and architecture all over the ancient Mediterranean!

Specific to Ulysses, his clothing has currently reached a fairly fairytale-esque “fantasy” stage, drawing a lot of early Renaissance and pirate-style influences with his little poet-shirt and sash, since he’s been on the Overworld so much, and is slowly growing to become a part of that culture and world, and I really wanted to show that in his clothing changes.

Honestly, a lot of the broader telchin clothing when I have sketched it up is very Greco-Roman, at least in the way I tend to depict it (that is my field of expertise, given my degree haha) but there’s honestly a lot of broader Mediterranean ties in as well. The army and their armour is designed to be very Ancient Macedonian, and a lot of the more casual clothing skew very Ancient Egyptian.

Canonically the Telchin clothing style also definitely develops rapidly over the course of the war with the drowned, mostly for practicality sake more than fashion (loose flowing fabrics aren’t doing anyone much good escaping the undead), leading to an almost 1950s/60s American aesthetic? Of course still mingled with the Greco-Roman patterns. Especially in the way the scientists are presented in lore/my art, they always had a very retro-60’s almost sci-fi scientist aesthetic. If I was to give it a fancy/proper-sounding name I think “Wartime-Americana Retro-Classicism” would be more or less it, potentially lmao-

(You can even sort of see similar shapes and patterns in that first reference image to Ulysses eventual design!)

There was of course always a flair of Victorian-Mad-Scientist too, because I have a bit of a brand and I can’t help myself. And given the blurring of science, alchemy and magic in Fable I think it definitely fits.

It’s a shame Tumblr only lets me upload 10 images per post on mobile because I have A BUNCH of reference images for all of these stages of the Ulysses/broader telchin clothing design lol, but sadly I can’t include them here :(

going on a short break + psa about success stories

hi everyone! i’m going to stop posting so much on this acc, but i’m not leaving ofc. 🥹

there’s two reasons, but the main one is because these next three weeks are where the last exams, last assignments, and presentations are due before finals, so i really need to focus on that. if i get tagged on something i’ll still reply, and i’m gonna turn on notifications for my mutuals so i can still check out every post!

the second reason is more tricky, and it has to do with a confession i read yesterday. in short, there was a post where a person basically said that people migrating from amino and shifttok (like me) were lying about their experiences.

i joined in 2023 and have liked every success story that i have come across since then. that argument reminds me of 2021 amino where every new person that came out with good news was instantly shunned and harrassed, and it led me to leaving the community because it was discouraging to see so many people fighting.

i’ve read many people say that this is turning into shifttok with the discourse, but discourse is bred from confession accounts, not new shifters or whatever that person said.

posts i see on my dash are just people talking about their drs and interacting with their shifting mutuals by sharing things like their scripts and stuff. and in my opinion, that’s what a community is. so yeah, maybe there’s a few people arguing about misinformation, but that happens in every learning space. best we can all do is block whatever we don’t like and move on.

but i’m going on a tangent lol. how would people know if a success story is real or not? imagine if you had an experience and someone commented on how that’s not true because the way it’s written makes it sound like a wattpad fic? or because it’s unrealistic?

yeah, there’s fake stories around (this is tumblr y’all i was here when the weed smoking girlfriends guy was a thing) but why does that matter? sure, they may be instilling false hopes. but shifting is real, even if some stories are not.

there’s hundreds of good blogs with information on here. if there is one you think is lying, then block or don’t listen to them. including myself.

it should be encouraging to see so many people succeeding, not the other way around.

regarding my own success story

before i continue, i wanna put this out there first. i am not backtracking on my own posts. but i wanna clarify something because i actually shifted this morning. (not to my dr, but i shifted). and it made me understand more about the experience i will talk about below.

a while back, i made this post about my own shifting experience. it truly did feel like a shift to me, so i made a post thinking it would be nice to share. everything i said on that post is true, but it did not occur to me that i could be spreading misinfo by writing it down before i could reflect on what happened, and for that i am sorry.

that confession i mentioned at the beginning of this post said something about people having really vivid lucid dreams and passing them on as a shift, and i think that’s what happened here. i’ve been thinking about it for a while and it’s been eating me up whenever i wonder if my post would count as a fake success or not.

anyways, the point i’m trying to make here is that i’m taking a break from this site for a short while. i noticed i’ve been over sharing(? a lot, so i wanna stop and focus on my own journey instead of over consuming information. and i don’t wanna post things that might ruin other’s journeys either. we are all master manifestors, and we don’t need outside sources to shift.

i don’t wanna leave this community. i’ve met so many good people in here, and i even found a mutual shifting to my same dr and- hello??? that’s never happened to me before! i love hearing about other people’s drs, and that’s my favorite part about the tumblr community. i think the constant interaction is something we should value.

we are all unique and that we all learn at a different pace. so let’s not overthink whether or not a success story is real, and instead put that energy into shifting. see you in two-three weeks!

~My thoughts on JFK’s character assassination from S2~ 

Okay finally writing this all out!

(Sorry, these are all the negative things I have to say, my positive impressions will have to be another post) 

First off, I really love jfk, in both seasons. Are they the same guy? Not really. One person on here on Tumblr made the comment that s2 jfk is the jfk in the mirror. Headcanon accepted! XD

So, why is he out of character in the 2nd season? First off, he’s a genuinely nice guy, which is waaaaayyy different than how he acted in s1, even at the end. He definitely had some growth and development in s1, but even in the last ep he was still punching other dudes, had 5 different girls as his prom dates, and made jokes of his rival Abe (although at this point it was a bit justified, but anyways…) All in all, he’s not a bad person per-se, but he’s definitely still a 16-year-old teenager. 

So in s2, after what is only ONE NIGHT OF SLEEP for him, his personality has a huge change. He doesn’t bully other boys (like Confucius, a social-media obsessed teen with a weird sense of fashion), he’s loyal and loving to ONE girlfriend (never had the first show really established that he loved Joan in that way), he’s no longer antagonistic, and is rather quieter and less crude. (I say less crude because although he still makes sex jokes, other students are shown that they DO find them funny and his jokes tend to not be misogynist like they were in s1). 

I actually like that jfk has changed and become a better person, I think that’s great, he’s maturing! But when? When does this happen? When he slept overnight in the meat locker? Nothing indicates that he would have a reason to change. (Some argue his love for Joan, but again, this seemingly came out of the blue).  Speaking of his love for Joan, I’ve seen some great fanfics add context to s1 in how he really was in love with her, but the show itself really doesn’t indicate this at all. 

*Side tangent to expound on this!* Did he have crush on John Darc (really Joan)? Yeah, but really for no other reason than his boyish instinct (or Kennedy sense as he calls it lol) detected a hot girl!! He liked John Darc because he’s attracted to hot women, not Joan specifically. Also, he doesn’t seem to follow up his crush with her after the episode because I really don’t think he was interested in her other than the fact that she’s a pretty lady. Of course, I think this comes back full circle when we get to the finale, when Joan believes she has to dress up like a slut in order to be considered pretty… which is why jfk says he likes her when she’s just being herself. Because he knows she’s been “a knock-out Betty” this whole time, unlike that “chowder-head Lincoln.” However, not being dense like good ol’ Abe to realize Joan is stunning as she is… doesn’t quite equal the “love of his life.” OF COURSE he likes her, because she’s a babe! But her being a babe doesn’t indicate that he’d suddenly have a massive character change to be dedicated and loyal to her!! *Side tangent over*

Specific changes that I noticed that were off: 

“I like boobies and butts! Any shape or uh, size.” No, no he doesn’t. Why would his opinion from s1 (“You know my policy, no fatties!”) Suddenly change? Ofc I’m glad he’s no longer fat-phobic, but why?

“Your fourth string kicker won’t let you down!” What? What happened to being captain of the football team? “El capitan of the futbol team?” Winning the track meets? Being overall a competent athlete? 

“I let all my male friendships fade away!” Okay, this one is tricky. JFK really did lose Ponce, and he did in fact end up losing Gandhi even if he wasn’t aware of it. HOWEVER, s1 suggested he was one of the popular kids at school, you’re telling me he had no other friends? Like, not even Julius Cesar who was very often seen with him? Also, s2 does not even mention Ponce (unfortunately) which may have been used as a very good excuse for jfk to be so upset. (Right now, JFK’s tears in s2 ep 2 from missing Ponce only exist in headcanon).

“I’m afraid Joan is the love of my life and I’m not good enough for her!” See my side tangent, but also, why is he suddenly so insecure? One of his traits in s1 was his confident swag.

“Woah, I’ve never had anyone turn me down before…but that’s okay!” I mean, not usually, if he wasn’t asking FREAKING JOAN. The same Joan that was known for kicking, hitting, smacking, and punching him for every little advance he made towards her. He should know better at this point? Even if he did successfully sleep with her, I can’t imagine he’d really be that surprised she told him no, or as she said in the show “let me think about it.” 

His crying. He cries SO much in s2. But didn’t he cry in s1 as well? I can hear you asking. Yes, but he cried specifically in ep 10 because HIS BEST FRIEND TRAGICALLY AND SUDDENLY DIED.  Also, the reason the “Litter” ep is so funny is because up until that point we’ve never seen jfk so upset and distraught before, he’s genuinely weeping and mourning and we’ve NEVER seen this side of him, nor will we again. But in s2, he cries about everything! He’s literally the depressed loser crying in the freaking bathroom cause he “has no friends”! I guess I wouldn’t have minded as much if it didn’t literally make him look like a crybaby. Even in s1 he cried a bit at the notion of losing Cleo, but he wasn’t known for that. 

“Your lips are like a fine chalice of…uuuuhhh, wEt sTUfF!!” Heatstroke jfk was pretty funny, but it also highlighted another change. He’s freaking STUPID in s2. I’m not saying he was particularly “smart” in s1, but he definitely wasn’t the dumb “hurr durr” kinda idiot he is in s2. The one time I think jfk came across as actually dumb in s1 is when he thought Ponce was a genie, but tbh that was more sad than him being just plain dumb. Other things like talking to his reflection or his weird accent were more like quirks, not indicating that’s he stupid. He aced his PXJT test for crying out loud! (“Did you see me on that test Cleo? I smoked it! I can’t wait to see my time.”)

Wanting to be like his clone father. Back to his accent, I genuinely believe he is trying to do an impression (albeit bad) of the real JFK, he’s not talking like that because he has an actual speech impediment. Also, being faithful to Joan also doesn’t work on another sense because he thinks the real JFK was “a macho womanizing stud who conquered the moon!” and I think clone jfk was trying to live up to his legacy by being a womanizer, something not seen at all in s2.

“Woah a little spaceship! I’m gonna go chase it!” Another thing that bothered me is that he really does act like a golden retriever in s2. He’s been reduced to nothing more than a cute puppy dog, a plot device for Joan, a wholesome himbo who’s dumb but well-meaning, and overall BORING.

The only thing on his mind is sex. Like, really? Literally everything that comes out of his mouth in s2 has something to do with sex, much to Joan’s annoyance and part of the reason she broke up with him. S2 tries to make it seem that jfk is very shallow and has no hobbies or interests, but that is NOT TRUE! He loves sports, watching (“But you usually watch SportsCenter up in your room baby” - Wally) and playing them, he cares about his appearance and knows a bit about fashion (hey, his efforts to help Gandhi resulted in the dude becoming instantly popular), he records his own music! HE SINGS AND HAS HIS OWN STUDIO! He likes cool cars and drag racing! He likes throwing parties!! There’s more to his character than just sex!! 

Okay, that’s most of it. 

Of course, I will also mention the obvious (that others have already pointed out) he went from genuinely hilarious to slightly obnoxious and annoying.

TLDR: he’s turned from a macho womanizing stud, a confident chad, a jerk with soft side, a man of swag and style, to…an insecure crybaby, a boring “nice guy” who’s also a huge idiot.

To end, I still love JFK, even in s2. I appreciate the cute moments he has, and ignoring lack of time for character development I like that he’s trying to be a better person and that’s he’s matured. I could talk about all the things I did like about him in s2, but that will have to wait another day haha.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Comments are the best thing about ao3 and pretty much the only reason to post my stuff online! I feel boring sometimes, like I'm replying the same thing over and over, but it is SO true that every single comment means so much to me and I hope commenters know that

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't do unhappy endings. The closest I've come to not a HEA is Don't Wanna Be A Fool For You which is still a happy ending lol, but I didn't go into the future and left them only JUST beginning to recover from all the angst

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oh, tricky to decide this. I'm gonna go with Down By The Water, simply because I go deep, DEEP into their happily ever after in the epilogue (it is 12k of a 63k fic which should give you an idea of just HOW deep), even though it’s still quite… yearn-y.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, though I did get some intense emotional responses to a few chapters of Deep Blue, which... well, they were supposed to hurt, but it was A LOT. Never have I used the 😬 emoji that much.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Hah, yes. A lot of it. All but one of my fics are E and even that one has got a smutty end scene I didn't publish and might post around the holidays. A Christmas treat for a Christmas fic! I'm not sure what 'what kind' is really supposed to mean here, so: very explicit but always emotionally relevant to the story, and particular in long fics I like to use the, ahem, smut progression to show how their feelings and the relationship is deepening.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Oooh, someone asked me if they could translate Deep Blue to Spanish, so I'm excited to see that (but it is 76k so it might be a while)! That would be my first though.

Oh, firstprince, no doubt. Alex and Henry have my heart.

I absolutely REFUSE to say I won't finish something. I plan to finish all my WIPs.

This is hard to answer, but I think I'm good at building tension, both in the overall story developments, but also within paragraphs and scenes, playing with sentence length etc. At the very least I like how I do that!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Yikes, pulling no punches. Sometimes I get bored of writing all the 'getting to know you' dialogue, and get fed up of writing banter. It’s the kind of thing that tends to get me blocked on a WIP. I find it quite hard, possibly because Alex and Henry banter so much it feels like it's all been done before. Oh, here’s Star Wars! Oh, your dog’s name is stupid! Etc etc.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Love it. I have one WIP currently which has some French dialogue, and my French is middling at best, so I'm going to have to ask for help with it, but I'm not there yet.

Do you have any tips and tricks for someone (me) starting a sims story to post on Tumblr? Asking for a friend (it's me. I'm the friend)

omggg you're askin me? 🥺

I'm not sure I'm the best simblr to ask because I'm not in it for the trends or popularity; I'm all about the interaction and finding others to talk to at length about my delusional fictional universe that's been going on for over a decade now lol. But let me try:

*puts on my mother glasses* There are two ways to go about it; depending on your goals. There are plenty of exceptions, but simblr sorta has a formula you can follow. Get ready for some contradictions haha

if you aim to appease the simblr community:

reshade/gshade mixed with photo-editing is generally a must. Simblr users will gravitate to pretty pictures, so even if you're an excellent writer, people usually won't give it a second look unless something attracts them to it. The sims is pretty ugly without filters and such, and it will enhance the experience as well. Bonus if you crank up the mxao and depth of field but I prefer to take it a little easy on those lol

CC. Not necessarily a must, but simblr in particular usually hates vanilla sims. same explanation as above, slather those suckers in skin details!!

poses poses poses. readers love reading stories with poses and they spit on screenshots with only game animations! (tbh those game animations do get pretty repetitive after a while so I kinda get it)

Read stories. I'm not much of a reader personally, but there's a huge imbalance in the reader-writer ratio on simblr, and lots of simblrs will return the favor if you read theirs too. Be careful, though; getting stuck in a transactional mutualship can lead to tricky dynamics. Only reach out to other stories if you're genuinely interested in following more stories, not just to gain readers.

BUT, with all that being said, as an "elder" of the simblr community, please consider this as permission to say screw any and all of those above tips if they don't align with your goals.

If your goal is to just have fun and relax:

reshade/gshade. Because let's be real the game's graphics are very depressing. It's not actually a must if you're just enjoying yourself, but if you find the right settings and just play, so you can spend minimal or even no time editing your photos. There are lots of tutorials that explain how to set it up. If you can't figure it out or don't feel like it, that's also not a big deal.

I can be a controlling sim god when it comes to my stories, and I have most things planned out. HOWEVER sometimes it's a little fun to let the sims drive their own storylines. If something is just not working, I consider that a sign to let the story flow in a slightly different direction. IF you're planning on writing gameplay stories/writing as you go, as I do. (which has its own challenges lol)

Sometimes it can be tempting to let readers sway the way the story is going. Sometimes that is a strategy that works. But if you have a storyline that you're confident in, own it and let it play out. Even if the whole community (and your spouse) wants that alien character to go die, you have him there for a reason, trust in the power of your storytelling 😜

Despite being a pose creator, I find using poses kinda tedious and sucks the life and immersion out of the story and gameplay personally, if used too much. Trust me, I do use my fair share of them, but I do try to use the game animations whenever possible. When I do use poses, I personally prefer to keep the expressions very maxis-y.

Don't try to be like any one particular simblr. With a community where we all pull from the same CC and game pack pools, there's bound to be overlap in aesthetics, storylines, and concepts. Definitely find inspiration in all your faves but do what works best for you but don't feel some sort of way if your screenshots don't look exactly like PastelPlumbobPixelLlama's game, despite you downloading all the content and presets from their resource page! You have your own style babe and it's way more unique ♥

Post a "New Story/New simblr" post to get the word out about your story.

PLEASE don't ever get discouraged by notes because you are perfect and creative and if others don't understand your genius that's them problem ok <3

in an effort to be a bit more active on tumblr, I wanted to make a little update post about some of my fics: multisaku edition

the final chapter of my madasaku fic your other life is still in the works, slowly but steadily. there's a lot of emotional ground I want to cover and give plenty of breathing room to be as natural as possible.

that said, I have a 2nd madasaku fic (likely a lengthy oneshot) that I'm hoping to have completed within the next week or two. this one is gonna be a little bit weird.....or maybe a lotta bit weird, because of who I am fundamentally as a person. so I'll probably publish that and then the final chapter of your other life immediately afterwards as a "back to our regularly scheduled programming, I promise I'm not becoming a f*tish author" thing lol

to mend and defend's plot (itasaku) absolutely ran away from me and has gone through several iterations that I've been varying degrees of satisfied with, so I've been hesitant to upload anything just yet before I can nail the definitive edition. it's my baby though and I want to be as dedicated as possible to giving it the best final arc I can!!

daylily (kakasaku), the final part of shine onto me, remains in limbo. I keep feeling that the ending I've had planned for years, isn't to my standards. the story is deeply personal to me as kakashi's journey through untangling his past, and the struggles of falling in love with someone at the wrong time, were both major things I was working through at the time. I just want to make sure the message I'm sending is ultimately a healthy one; it's been tricky

and finally, I'm about 99% certain I'll be taking down the king of crows and reuploading it with some important changes, and keep going that way. it's not a ship-centric story but I WILL be changing sakura's ship--from madasaku to inosaku (part of the reason why I don't just want to edit the existing story, too). something about sapphic relationships in historical stories just speaks closer to my heart, and I think they're a good mirror for the sasunaru pairing that also runs through the story

I think they both make each other blush and they both think its cute lol...but Angel has an easier time flustering Grusha.

Hydie isn't quick to fluster, so Leon probably blushes more in that sense. They're both happy blushers though and both think its cute

Angel hums sometimes, I don't think Grusha sings in the shower

Angel and grusha are always calling each other pet names its not that embarrassing to them. It is probably embarrassing to their little siblings if they're there, though...#cringe. They don't really kiss in super public places, so if one kisses the other at the store or somethin it might make them a lil shy. I can see it either way

5. Who curses, and who reprepends the other for it

They all curse and are responsible about who they curse in front of. Hydie might sometimes forget but hes not scolded for it. Weird ass question

Angel and Grusha both make each other laugh a lot, its one of the initial reasons they're so fond of each other [:

Grusha definitely I think... not like super jealous per say but more so he just sometimes wants to hang out with Angel alone since its a rarity so when others get to hes just gr..

For Hydieon I donnt know I dont think theyre particularly jealous people. Maybe envious of some things but idk

9. How did they know they were right for each other

I got no clue how to answer this one but I do want to say I dont think there was an all knowing moment I think they are just happy together and make life joyful for the other and inspire the other to be better and grow and thats enough

10. Who brings up the subject of kids first

I think Angel always wanted a baby, but didn't know how Grusha felt so he never brought it up + they're already raising their little siblings so it felt like a tricky subject. So, he's pretty happily surprised when Grusha actually does bring up that he wants to be a dad. Also important to me cause shows a lot of healing in Grusha too...

I feel like they both kinda bring it up but in different ways ? Hydie is more subtle and points out lots of baby things in stores or mentions the families around them etc etc Leon eventually is the one to actually ask about it

I think if anything Angel can be a little silly tired, but he's usually just groggy and zones out a lot. Grusha seems like he would be either cranky or really sad when he's tired.

Hydie might either be a tad snappy or very spacey depending. Leon i think doesn't change much I think he is good at hiding when he is very tired minus the several yawns.

12. Who's more protective

Grusha lala... i think he gets overly worried at times. Angel cares too but I think Grusha's experiences made him prone to really worry about the safety of those he cares about.

Both Leon and Hydie are super protective of the other haha... I think they are both willing to sacrifice themselves for the other

13. How do they express their feelings

Angel and Grusha both like to make the other laugh to express their love... they tease each other a lot too. Whenever they get time for just the two of them they enjoy every moment, and even if family is there they still do little things to feel closer. They are almost always holding the others hand when they're out and about on errands lala.

At home they show care and love a lot too by taking care of each other the best they can. Grusha often has one of his pokemon go with angel when he goes off to work on art to make sure he stays safe. Angel makes sure Grusha eats well and always has a dish he likes at meals. When Grusha moves in, Angel invests in a lot of small things to make Grusha's life easier since he's disabled.

They get each other promise rings too when Grusha moves in...i dont wanna write it all out rn but felt like an important bit about how they express love.

Hydie and Leon just love to have fun together, making the other smile just makes them feel very loved I think. I wrote more but tumblr deleted it when I saved the draft and I don't want to rewrite it #sorry

14. Where would they go on a 3 am adventure

Angel and Grusha live on glaseado mountain and its always snowing so I think a 3 am adventure might be dangerous for them. If anything they might go to the convenience store, they don't want to leave home too long since their lil brothers also live there and might need them.

Hydie and Leon might go just about anywhere lmao. They might be out camping, or walking in the empty streets and looking at the stars. Maybe at the park on the swings and just laughing and playing. I think its nice for Leon to be out like that and not worry about being flooded by people...even if the two are sleepy the next day its worth it.

Grusha would pick flowers for Angel I think if they are out and about... in general Grusha does like to buy Angel flowers a lot too.

Here's what I've been trying to say, and because No Negativity Allowed on Tumblr it's been tricky to navigate because suddenly I'm a loser book purist (?) and a "BOOMER" (lmfao??) but this is the thing when you make an adaptation that you need to be ready to defend:

If any random person turns this show on and doesn't know any better, cool! Enjoy! But it's *worth* asking what RJ is trying to say about women, and being queer, and being Black. And if some of these decisions are shaping up to be lazy, sketchy, harmful, etc, that's *worth* talking about.

And there's a CONTEXT here when it comes to Claudia, and the changes they've made. We lost a really excellent feminist character for this. And like, I've been saying the whole time, I understand if they didn't want to cast a small child for logistic purposes, but they haven't written a new character that has nearly the same care. Claudia on the show so far is just a bunch of sexist stereotypes about teenagers in a big trenchcoat, and to have her raped on top of that, is just. Beyond the pale.

It doesn't matter if a 14 year old still a "child" and it doesn't matter if we're all supposed to suspend disbelief a little bit to pretend Bailey doesn't look like she's 19. The show has gone out of its way to let us know that she can drive and she can blend in at college. This is a completely different set of struggles than a small child would have in navigating the world and the conflict is just, not there. The conflict they gave her is that she gets raped when she leaves home, and I just can't even begin to unpack it.

But BECAUSE she isn't a convincing child, it's introducing so many bad messages about. .. petite women? You aren't a real woman if you don't have tits? Only perverts will like you? .... cool.

Don't get me started on how the idea that she'd be hormonal for eternity is so fucking disgusting and stupid like she's dead bro why is she hormonal and why do you think teenage girls are fucking werewolves or whatever this is so gross but i'm already talking too much don't let me get into it now LOL

Plus like, don't get me started on all the smug meta moments breaking the fourth wall like Daniel acknowledging the story; it was bad enough that the show burns the tapes as if to say the novel is stupid (which is what RJ is telling us) but now we're raping Anne's fucking daughter. Cool!

It truly fucking baffles me that a show in 2022 is still leaning into this trope about SA, especially when we see that it affects the OTHER MEN in the show more than it affects Claudia herself. Daniel uses it as leverage for the story he's trying to tell. Louis (someone?) tore the pages out. If Louis is the one who removed the pages, he did that for his own needs. He altered Claudia's story because it makes *him* uncomfortable. It's painful for *him*. Louis waits around in squalor on Rue Royale for Claudia to get raped and come home to save him.

And the thing that's just, so fucking gross, is that they've given us enough information to know Claudia was abused already in her life as a mortal. Her response to recognizing Lestat as an abuser and sticking up to him does not need to be at the expense of raping her.

Also like, the entire reason that writing SA and violence against women is sensitive is because it's so likely the audience has experienced it. That's the entire conversation. We've had this conversation over and over and over. I wouldn't care about the lack of a CW if the show had NONE AT ALL but the fact that they put one in Ep1 for Paul but not for this is just really telling about the lack of care and sensitivity for this topic. And especially when they KNOW a huge portion of the fanbase is women and queer people.

With Rind it can be a bit tricky trying to find a good transition between her snarky and rude personality that she takes when she first meets new people and her nicer, more trusting self that has a good sized soft spot. She isn't going to start off an angel, but there's should be some way to give her a little ray of hope so any new muses she meets don't immediately write her off as a lost cause. There's also the whole thing about talking pokemon. It isn't an issue in PMD Verse/Fantasy settings where the animals and creatures just talk and its normal, but in normal verses I just like to... Ignore that issue and hope no one notices lol

Mint is a weird character in that her usual situation is quite remote. As in, if you're meeting Mint your character has to contrive a reason to be exploring a jungle. Unless she gets kidnapped, moved, or bonds with someone over the course of a thread that's just where she is.

Galacta Knight has a mean personality and a lot of trust issues to deal with. I'd like to write some more of the old knight defrosting but I'm afraid it can be a bit of a process and the last thing I'd want my character development to be is a chore for the other player. Kind of similar to Rind actually, but Galacta is a walking threat to life itself while Rind is a plucky kid who eats newspapers sometimes. They are not the same haha

What made you fall in love with Gallavich? I initially started watching Shameless to figure out what all the hullaballoo was about these two boys always appearing on my dash was. Gallavich was the only thing I knew about Shameless going into it, lol. And wow, I was really blown away by how it was acted, honestly. The chemistry and the lack of any hesitance on Cameron and Noel’s ends were really amazing. The rep was different too, I hadn’t seen anything like that before. I’m originally from a small town and was exposed to some pretty violent homophobia when I was younger - Mickey’s experience with homophobia felt like my experience was seen a bit and I really appreciated that too. 

How long have you been a fan? Three months, lol. Went off the deep end fast.

Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? Mickey’s “Guess what we been doing, Daddy?” coming out speech is perfection. But also the van scene, I’m a sucker for a Spiderman kiss.

Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? Mandy!!! I am forever sad that she wasn’t involved in later seasons. I also love Lip and Carl. I looooove the dynamic between Lip, Ian, and Carl in season 7.

i think one of the reasons i am having genuinely, so much fun with this gunter slowburn fanfic despite sitting at a literal 53k words rn and with it probably being close to 90k all said and done, is it's ... writing the ship i see myself in the most by far on both sides.

i've talked a little bit about how corrin's memory wipe stuff is literally a 1:1 to my anesthesia/childhood surgery/physical therapy conga line of bullshit. even aside from the helpful textual 'here's how this works from a medical event standpoint' there's the 'here's the emotional scars that it will leave because yes it is a bodily/mind violation of a sense, over and over, and jesus all of this of this stuff goes so well thematically to the straight up fantasy bullshit of nohr with the underpinning of being hyper-aware to the themes of "power" "use" "what it takes to survive by emotionally dragging yourself through a minefield" etc. stuff i've been ruminating over since being conscious lol.

then my body's so whack from a physical joint perspective that there's also almost word for word conversations from gunter's side that i've had with my gf about how to navigate certian shit from a kink perspective but also like... how to maintain dignity when your body's kinda physically crapping out on you due to the march of time.... without loosing the sexytimes u know?

the concept of dignity in the face of being broken is a huge theme in this fic that gets echoed. very poignant for reasons you fates players know.

amusingly there's a scene near the end where corrin's helping him to shave after his stroke. (in one of fate's "clearly having a giggle at my expense" coincidences i've been in contact lately irl with somebody who's also gone through a stroke and man is it not easy) and it's this kind of perfect blend of she's helping him, technically, with something that could just be... god awful self loathing brainspace wise for him but it turns into this amazingly hot kink scene with some serious sizzling power exchange.

there is a real thin line between being able to laugh at yourself *while* keeping that dignity to pointedly.... having to not look in the mirror some days. desire and shame being some real fucked up entangled wires too, in that sense.

He wasn't sure how it happened. He could recall when, however. As cheesy as it may be, Karlheinz' first taste of them was, for some reason, one of the things he'd craved the most since a long time. After he had gotten just a taste of their blood for the first time, it almost drove him mad with how much he wanted more. Not only because controlling that itch is difficult (though not exactly a struggle for a more powerful vampire such as himself), but also because he couldn't put a finger on why. Why did their blood taste like nobody else's he's had? It was almost annoying with how Karlheinz' thoughts were busy running constantly, the taste stuck in his mouth yet, there was none of it.

It was dangerous. For both of them.

If the king started to lose himself even more, which he already was, for some reason he couldn't piece together, which then added yet another thing to his mental, and physical torment. Something in him snapped that very first bite, and ever since, the man has felt himself lose his grip on both himself as well as reality. Even if he had indulged, the more frequently he did so, the more likely death was to approach his beloved.

And for whatever reason, even daring to think about living without them was painful. He felt as if he should keep them isolated, protected from his desires that only got greedier day by day. Was it fear? Karlheinz did not believe so, but what he did believe was that this had to end. Before he truly went mad. Before they die. In which Karlheinz would tear them apart, savoring their delectable, deadly blood for the last time. Perhaps it'd be better that way. If they no longer existed in the world, it would make things so much easier for Karlheinz.

This likely wasn't love, Karlheinz knew so already. But did it matter? As long as he could keep them to himself, with no one to interrupt.. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. For it to just be the two of them, his sweet little thing that makes the man want to succumb constantly. 

To be rid of them was definitely the best option, if both Karlheinz and his precious prey held any value for their life. This sudden downslide of his sanity was a first, and every possible way he could think of for handling it did not please him. If Karlheinz kept them, they’d be completely drained after a point of time. If he disposed of them, there’d be an emptiness to Karl that couldn’t be filled. Letting them live but keeping a distance from Karl would not work, either. The thought of anyone else drinking their blood was almost... painful.

There was another option, however, if such thing was possible. 

To turn them. To stake his claim over them forever.

There were to many options. None of which he wanted to pursue, really. He wasn’t sure about any of it. He wasn’t sure how they managed to beguile him in such a way.

What he did know was that this obsession he had over them- the way they had him completely spellbound, somehow- was frustrating. And, it was definitely not going to last for long.

In the perspective of this brooding vampire, love at first sight was nonexistent. The way he treated his prey almost said otherwise, though it certainly wasn’t love. Nor did it have anything to do with sight; rather, it was taste. He had always been an obsessive man, an obsessive lover. It was almost inevitable for everyone he managed to get close with. The number of such is low, for sure, especially for being someone his age, but regardless, this has happened before.

Unlike his awful brother, Richter could expect this. He foresaw it the moment he even considered drinking their blood. It wouldn’t be the first time, and, if they are able to survive his obsession, which was already pretty intense, then hopefully it’d be the last. It also wouldn’t the first time he’s said such a thing.

To his own dismay, he knows this should end. He’s not concerned for himself, but his beloved, rather. As odd as it may seem, the man has loved before. His view of love may be just as strange as the rest of his family, but did it matter? His love also just so happened to be one of the reasons he was thriving, both figuratively and literally. Blood was a powerful thing, and after so many years, Richter could admire it, at least slightly. At the very least, he was thankful. 

However, in this case? Their blood was purely his. He knew this, yet, he worships it. He worships them, for being his, for being such a bewitching creature. Maybe it wasn’t just them, perhaps it was just his nature to dive deep into any sort of attraction he develops. Maybe it was something else completely. 

He knew what he had to do. It would be merciful. The ‘humane’ thing to do. 

As if he had morals. 

His love was not safe near him, and truthfully, it was a genuine concern whether or not they’d survive Richter’s never-ending hunger for everything they had to offer him. Blood, body, soul. But, he wasn’t strong enough to do so. They were his weakness. 

And he planned to keep them for as long as possible.

Fate was not kind to Richter, and he was aware of this. Yet, it seemed the world was not content with allowing him to not compete for love. 

If this was even a matter of ‘love’. It was definitely arguable- he enjoyed their company, sure, but whether their company beat their blood taste? There was a clear winner, for now, anyways.

Yet again, the younger Sakamaki must fight for what he desires. Because, naturally, his elder sibling yet again had no need to fight for anything. It was them. The one Richter had grown ..attached to, putting it lightly. And what does Karlheinz do? Swoop in and try to seduce them into his own arms?

It was horrid. But, unsurprisingly, not the first, and definitely wouldn’t be the last. It seemed to be the way the world worked- Obviously fate favored Karlheinz over Richter. Surely.

Karlheinz did not believe so. Was there an issue with seeking out what you desire? Karlheinz knew what good blood tasted like, had sampling plenty throughout his life. He just had an eye for it, you could say. Apparently, this was something he had in common with his brother- the dark haired man had a knack for picking out good prey, something Karlheinz couldn’t deny. So, why wouldn’t he try to get a taste? 

In Karl’s eyes, if they truly were a good little pet, they wouldn’t need to even think of any options. Why refuse him? He could show them a world so much better than any way his brother might have already.

Unfortunately, as lovely as it may be, at least for Karl, the two brothers can’t fight forever. Eventually, one of them will give up, despite both of them sharing yet another similar characteristic- determination. Ambition. Stubbornness, even. 

It’d be a constant tug-of-war over the prey, and at some point, their toy might lose themself before they choose one brother over another. Neither Sakamaki will allow for it. They belonged to them. Not both, exactly, but with the rate in which things were happening, neither were going to give up any time soon.

Perhaps all three would just have to get used to endless sharing.

🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?

I will have to fully credit Tenet for bringing me to the Inception fandom—both with their emotional love stories and tender connections, amidst the chaos and mayhem across space and time—it just moves me so much, I can’t help but be inspired to be a part of such a poignant portrayal of the human heart and mind.

During my time in the Tenet fandom, some of my mutuals and I talked a lot about the comparisons between Mal/Cobb and Protagoneil, but it’s not until I had a full Inception rewatch sometime in June 2021 that it hits me just how much they parallel each other, and I love parallels. I started with simple screenshot edits, and then with coloring and fonts, and now I’m creating gifs as well. Thank you Nolan for motivating me to learn Photoshop, so I can finally pour out my feelings for your movies lol.

🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?

As mentioned, I’m wholly obsessed with visual and textual parallels, and Nolan’s timey wimey movies are such a treasure trove of those. Also, not just with each other but with other media sources as well! I get such a rush whenever my brain is able to catch on an instance of it. So most of the time, it’s really about quickly jotting down the parallel descriptions as soon I’ve thought about it so I won’t forget, their corresponding movie scenes and where they’re located in the movie. After that, it’s a matter of extracting out the screencaps and starting the editing or giffing process.

My favorite part of all this is definitely seeing it all come together at the end, to see the gifs and edits come out exactly how I’ve pictured it in my mind. They are my outlet to capture all the moments that fascinate and resonate with me—kind of an emotional distillation, if you will. I also love listening to music to help me to focus, and most of the time the lyrics will end up as captions for the art itself ahaha

🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?

Ooo this is a tricky one! All of my early Inception artworks were combined with Tenet and/or Interstellar (the whole thing with parallels asdkfgk), so there’s a lot of them in my Tenet blog here.

But for purely Inception works, my first edit is here (made for the Inception 30-Day Challenge) and my latest one is here (made for the Inception Big Bang 2022, inspired by @rayelovesgreen‘s beautiful story). As for gifs, this is my first one (Sobb!) and this is my latest (elevator Arthur!).

I don’t know if I have any style, but I guess the improvement would be simply not to make the gifs look extremely grainy or twitchy while still keeping within the tumblr gif size limit lol. The edits are much easier to work with, but I love learning how to go from simple coloring to using textures and layer styles.

🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?

Another tricky one! I love all my artworks for different reasons, they all have their own stories to tell on how they came to be. But I really have to choose, it will be this Inception team name edit (which is also directly inspired from an earlier Nolan movie parallel edit here). It involves a bit of head-cracking to get the name origins/meanings which are most suited to each of the characters, and it’s very fun and satisfying to see them all put together like that.

For gifs, my favorites would be these Ariadne/Beth Harmon and Cobb/Saito parallels. The former is my very first fic-inspired gifset, and the absolute visual and emotional contrast in the latter is just so lovely to me.

🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?

I’m in constant awe of all those super fancy and shiny gifs and edits out there with all those effects and coloring, and I hope someday I can learn how to make those for my own Inception stuff too! And I also want to make a lot more art for Yusuf, Robert and Ariadne, they deserve all the love!

Where to even start? 😭 It’s the best fandom, hands down. Talent and kindness abound from everyone here, and I definitely owe almost everything, if not all of my art progress here to the Inception fandom. My fellow artists constantly inspire me! And even beyond art itself, this fandom feels like a second home to me apart from real life and I’m just so grateful and thankful for everyone who has made this space such a lovely, welcoming one all the time. HI i didn't see this because tumblr?? ate my inbox??? anyway it's been forever since i drew that lol but i did find these old reasonings i wrote back then (under the cut)

leo - the rogue of breath - defined as “one who steals breath (motivation/freedom) from others for their allies”, which i thought was fitting to both how he's constantly shown to be motivating his bros, and is able to smooth talk his enemies thereby “stealing” their motivation. plus breath players are the most “go with the flow” out of any of the aspects. breath players also tend to make good leaders, but ones who are reluctant to take the position ;) ^ i did discuss this one w somebody and they suggested knight of breath, which i actually think fits a bit better in retrospect donnie - mage of space - one who has great knowledge of space but is “plagued” by it in some way. space seems to represent creation as far as i can tell, so i thought it was an interesting take on how donnie’s creations - his tech - tend to backfire on him a lot, and also that he uses his ability to create as something he hangs all his self-worth on. space being related to physics as well fits with him being science-minded. he also just seems like he’d have a lot of fun with the size-altering aspects of space powers. i went back and forth on him for a while (he was almost a mind player) but this feels the best

raph - prince of doom - tbh i just wanted to put him in the puffy pants and the little crown but the actual definition is “one who destroys doom (endings/danger/rules)”, aka the Ultimate Protector. plus raph has never been much of a rule-follower so “destroying rules” works for him too. also, i thought it was funny for such a sweet guy to have the Doom and Destroy title

mikey - heir of hope - heirs are kind of tricky to define but the basic gist is that they become their aspect and are passively protected by it. since mikey’s Thing™ is about believing in the best in people no matter what, him “becoming hope” and spreading belief to others seemed pretty apt. hope players also tend to be kind of blind to the truth bc of those beliefs, which also fits mikey's (occasional) naivité (but also goes with the fact that he often KNOWS it's "unwise" to hope or believe the best in people, but he does anyway)

another lurker here: been lurking since beginning of this year, i watch every day still, and imo it's a lot of small things that have people trickling out. mythicon, rhett's comments, the hot-and-cold with dedicated fans etc etc. but there's also the general internet attitude towards rpf shipping. i've not made a rhink blog or interacted much with the tumblr fandom (aside from some nice/curious anons) because i just don't feel comfortable in this current climate where antis scream at you for basically no reason. rather stick to a closed forum (i.e. Discord) where neither antis nor the people the fic and thirsting is about can see.

Yep, you're kinda closer to my territory, Anon. I understand the antis’ “thoughtfulness” (if that’s what it is) but it's tiresome to see some mild shipping post with like 100 disclaimers that "of course op doesn't think their theory is real". Why even write it then? I mean, sometimes it's like you even fool yourself and everyone around you because there are posts that are clearly based on observation and yet then op says "oh but of course none of this is true". It's this fear that has spread... and has made older shippers leave. Obviously a large part of the fandom are indeed people who ship them as a fan headcanon and that's awesome but I don't believe 100% of the fandom operates in this way. Simply put.

Shipping real people is very tricky and you must be considerate but the problem is when shippers give the real people a hard time about it. There are toxic fans who address people directly or, even worse, their families. That's gross and scary. But if, for example, I make a post here in my corner which averages 15 notes and then somehow Rhett sees it and is mad about it, then before crucifying me, it would be a good idea to at least ask first what Rhett was doing so abysmally deep down the rabbit hole, you know?

This was just an example. I haven't personally received hate so far (although I'm pushing it apparently lol) neither do I have any indication Rhett has seen any of my posts (thank goodness). I am just saying. Many of us are just normal people who try to build tiny communities within our blogs, where we can speak freely - almost like small talk - without intending to address or confront anybody or cause problems to them or pick up a fight.

It's just SO maddening that this can get criticised by R&L and other fans alike, and then one week later R&L are pretending to fuck for 20 dollars. People need to sort out their minds - maybe me too, but not me first. I, for one, never demanded that Rhett and Link should act or be a certain way. I just comment on what I see.
