i feel like I'm the only one seeing this (i may be wrong cuz I'm not following all things fandom rlly closely cuz i don't have the time + i just got on tumblr) so i have to point it out. but.
when jimbriel sings Everyday for the first time under his breath it was freaking terrifying you guys. i haven't heard the song before so there were no positive associations or context and. u have a show about armageddon*cough ineffable gayz cough* literally the end of times and they only just avoided this prophecied doom and u start singing
everyday it's-a gettin closer
goin faster than a rollercoaster...
like shit. something is coming and u have no idea what it is and these two dorks and just characters in general have this feel about them of being massively underprepared(that's not a word is it) for whatever's coming their way. and it is coming. everyday it's-a gettin closer...
i can't really explain what about it unsettled me this much but. consider me unsettled. and then i found out it's meant as a love song.
like dude. this beginning is the perfect armageddon hymne. idk this quiet singing about sth inevitable coming closer feels like it belongs in a horror movie u know? not in a comedy series(wipes the queer tears and shoves down hysterical laughter)

Stop I'm finally done with this drawing im gonna cry 😭✨
Trigger warning: there’s blood. It’s not gory and the drawing is in black and white but if blood triggers you, maybe don’t look ?
I love this man so much it’s too much for my little heart to handle
Will i do it again ? Hell yeah, my imagination will never shut up

The cherries have started to ripen and so begins the long marathon of trying to process all the cherries so my yard does not smell like a distillery during the month of July from all the fermenting cherries on the ground.
Love the color of Rainier cherry jam. It is like a nuclear sunrise.

I know the collective agreement to kinda clown on the thing where a character's eyes are [insert color here] orbs, but I genuinely do believe it could be used to great effect...just, in a horror setting.
Like, that description is used so often in intimate romantic moments between two characters and I think using that expected vibe that that phrase instills and turning it on its head could be really fun.
Like (Trigger Warning for mention of some gory stuff involving eyeballs here):
Character A steps into the room and is caught by the intense stare of Character B's eyes, transfixed by their green orbs where they lay on the table, bloody and gruesome, the face they belong to unrecognizable where Character B lays on the floor, body in pieces scattered like rose petals.
Character A can't look though, frozen in place, captured by the unblinking stare of those eyes. The bright emerald green - they are emeralds, glittering stones carved perfectly, fitted in place of Character B's irises in a horrifying display of craftsmanship and skill - holding Character A transfixed.
Their heart pounds, breath caught in their throat, hands trembling and they are helpless to do anything but keep their gaze locked with Character B's as the world around them disappears, fading bit by bit leaving only deathless haunting shadows behind, threatening to consume them entirely.

I do sort of wish western anime fans would analyze anime and manga from a framework of japanese historical and cultural context. Specifically a lot of works from the 90s being influenced by the general aimlessness and ennui that a lot of people were experiencing due to the burst in the bubble economy and the national trauma caused by the sarin terrorist attack. I think in interacting with media that’s not local to our sociocultural/sociopolitical sphere it’s easy to forget that it’s influenced and shaped by the same kinds of factors that influence media within our own cultural dome and there ends up being this baseline misalignment of perception between the causative elements of a narrative and viewer interpretation of those elements. It’s a form of death of the author that i think, in some measure, hinders our ability to fully understand/come to terms with creator intent and the full scope of a work’s merits

sick of this anti-aging obsession. let's go in the opposite direction. i want more characters who are hardened & grizzled & have a face lined with the harrowing tribulations of time--and then halfway through the narrative u find out they're 27

you ever think about how canaan house is probably the most life gideon’s ever seen?
this has been sitting in my wips forever, so i decided it’d be better to post some version of it than let it languish in procreate forever.
edit: due to popular request, this piece is now available on my shop!
