I’m so paranoid when it comes to my pets. Like my cat has been a bit grumpier than usual lately and I’m like omg what if she’s sick and in pain and just isn’t showing it except in that she’s grumpier?
The only thing there is that with me, she’s fine. Seems no different, she still runs around with crazy zoomies, no different litter habits or accidents, still eating, I can still pick her up and pet her and she doesn’t get mad at me. But my mom used to be the only other person Rhaena liked and now she seems not to. She’ll come out and say hi but my mom used to be able to pick her up and cuddle her and now Rhaena is like, hell no.
So I don’t really think it’s from her being sick, but more like she’s just somehow getting more anti-social even though the amount of people who visit me hasn’t changed. 😔
My landlord’s daughters are coming to visit me tomorrow and I’m going to have to tell them not to bug the cat too much because I know she’ll be mean to them if she comes out at all. ☹️ I already cut her nails just in case but I can’t do anything about her teeth if she decides to bite, lol.

Hotch x reader - everybody’s favourite
Tumblr media
Sorry for requesting something so soon after my Wanda ask... But all I can think of is like Hotchkiss with reader who just absolutely spoils him and jack because their like a CEO or something and want them to have the best. And one day they send Hotch to work with a gift for Spencer after a hard case (maybe a book he's been looking for but can't find). So the team get a little jealous and want to meet her. - @azeal-peal 💜
Looking at your phone, you smiled at your lock screen and went back to looking at the people you were sat in a meeting with.
“How about we take a small break?” You asked.
“Your boyfriend calling?” Someone chuckled.
You laughed softly, standing up as you grabbed your phone.
“Actually my boyfriend is here, and we’re in no rush to finish this project, I trust you all. Go take a few hours, we’ll meet back just after lunch.”
Everybody seemed happy with this arrangement, and you quickly tidied a few of the papers away, setting them aside and picked up your papers.
Heading to your office, you set them on the desk, then walked back outside, making your way across the office.
You saw him before he saw you, and you grinned from ear to ear as you walked closer.
“Hello sweetheart.” You greeted.
Hotch turned around, a smile gracing his face as he saw you.
He opened his arms and you wrapped your arms around his neck, letting him wrap his own around you and you pulled him down for a kiss.
Letting him go after a minute, you played with the hairs on the base of his neck.
“I just got back, Jack is at school so I thought I’d come see if you’re free.”
“I’m always free for you my darling.”
Hotch chuckled a little bit, letting go of you he held his hand out and you took it, letting him lead you back to his office.
He gathered your phone, your keys and your wallet for you, putting them into the pockets of his blazer, then held out his arm.
You looped your arm with his, making your way down to the parking lot.
“I was thinking about jacks trip, and I want to get him some new clothes for it, oh and a new suit for you, we have an appointment with the tailor.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“I know, but I’m going to do it. So, suck it up and tell me about your case.”
Hotch nodded, opening the car door for you, and you got in.
When he was in the drivers side, he began to tell you about the case on the way to the tailors.
He explained how hard the case was for Reid, and what had happened, the fact that Reece had been hurt, and he’s really struggling with the fact he was hurt.
You listened carefully as he talked.
“The poor kid has it hard.” You sighed.
“I know, but honestly he’s one of the best agents we have, if not the best agent. I just wish there was some way to boost his confidence in himself.” Hotch sighed.
“Give it time, I imagine life has been hard for him because of how smart he is, and we know this world isn’t too kind to people who are different. Just keep supporting him Aaron and let him know you’re there for him.”
You guided your boyfriend into the tailors and over to the man who was waiting for him.
While they were measuring up a new suit, you were flicking through some others, looking at the colours and designs, then you made your way over to the accessories.
You found a nice, though expensive watch in the glass case.
“It’s nice isn’t it?” Another man asked.
“Absolutely, though I was wondering if you have something a little less flashy and more work appropriate. My boyfriend wouldn’t be able to wear this to work.”
The man nodded his head, pulling out some watches.
“Some of these are more expensive due to their unique design, but they would be more appropriate for a working environment if you didn’t want it to be easily damaged.”
You looked through them, and you looked at a pure gold one, small intricate designs carved into the links of the watch.
“I like this, I’ll get this one. He’s currently getting a new suit fitted so I’d like to wait for that before paying, I’ll probably get him a few more ties as well. Something that says professional, but can be used for formal meals and such as well.”
He nodded.
“We have a few I think you’ll like them.”
You carried on picking some stuff up for Hotch, then waited by the counter for him, also getting yourself a new watch since you wanted a change.
When Hotch had his new suit fitted, it was brought over and he stood next to you.
“(Y/N) no, you can’t. This is all too much and it has to be expensive.”
You grinned a little bit, handing over your bank card.
“Oops, too late.”
He sighed, giving you a small smile as he shook his head and he leant forward, kissing your forehead.
“You’re too good for me…” he whispered.
“I’d say it’s the other way around sweetheart, oh, and before you go to work tomorrow I have something for you to take it.”
You never told Hotch what it was, but you did go pick it up later on that night before heading back home.
Jack was happily trying on all of his clothes, and you handed the box to Hotch with the instructions to give it to Reid first thing in the morning.
And he did, when he got to the office he waited for Reid and made his way over.
“(Y/N) wanted you to have this.”
He set the box on the desk and Reid furrowed his brows a little bit.
“Oh? The mysterious rich partner has a gift for the pretty boy?” Emily asked.
They all walked over to watch as Reid opened it.
He set the lid to the box aside, and he picked up the note that was neatly placed on the top.
“What’s it say?” Rossi asked.
“It says to always believe in myself.”
He set the note aside and picked up the very old book.
“It’s a first edition of a Russian novel I’ve been looking for…” he whispered.
“Oh my god that’s amazing!” Garcia gasped.
“Damn, that must’ve cost a lot.” Morgan whistled.
They all nodded in agreement and Hotch just chuckled a little bit, shaking his head.
“They don’t care about cost, to (Y/N) they just want everybody to have the best.”
“Seriously Hotch, we have to meet them this isn’t fair.” JJ laughed.
Everybody immediately started asking him and begging him to be able to meet you.
They’d all heard about you, they knew about you from being the CEO of a large company, they’d seen photos of you and seen interviews of you thanks to Garica.
But they hadn’t had the chance to meet you, and they wanted to meet you, finally get to see the person who keeps gifting them all expensive gifts

Let’s talk about SxF Chapter 82
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; even though Yor is currently not involved in the confrontation between the SSS and WISE, this arc is about Twiyor marriage.
Somehow, it seems like they are in each other’s mind. Just take a look...
Tumblr media
To me, this small panel is probably the most important in the chapter: Twilight the master of disguise, best spy ever, WAVERS (!!!)
In addition to quivering, WAVER also means to become unsteady, unreliable, and undecided. A spy should never waver, it could cost him his life. So, why did the best spy of the West hesitate?
Tumblr media
The reason is very clear to me. He has something on his mind...someone...😉
Remember what he said when Yor kicked him on the chin?
Tumblr media
We saw his dangerous assassin mode. He was ready to defend himself from the SSS agent, but then he saw Yuri instead. It’s funny that he called him by his full name: Yuri Briar, just like he did a couple of chapters before, when he was apologizing to his wife. It was almost as a reminder of certain other Briar (aka Mrs. Forger).
Tumblr media
Twilight had the opportunity to shoot and kill Yuri. He’s more experienced than him, he’s been in dangerous situations and killed before. But upon seeing his face, a last minute decision halted his most basic spy instincts:
Yuri is his enemy, but he’s also family. (Btw, Yuri looks like a kid here).
Tumblr media
Twilight has surely heard from his wife all the love and effort she put on raising her brother. For a long time Yuri was her only family and she married him to avoid worrying him. He KNOWS how much Yuri means to Yor.
Tumblr media
That last minute decision wasn’t that last minute at all. Even though he won’t admit it, he’d rather die before hurting his wife. AND he did promise he would never make her suffer that way again (even though he had no clue what she was talking about 😂)
Tumblr media
Now, about Yor. To be honest, I thought that she would probably forget about the gripe, but thinking it through, those infidelity allegations are not so easily brushed off. It’s not like Loid has shown her he loves her explicitly and he is out all the time. (I think she misses him 💕 Look at those sad eyes!!)
Tumblr media
In theory, Yor shouldn’t worry about this, since this is a fake marriage, right? The thing is Yor doesn’t see it as a fake marriage anymore. That’s why she wants to have gripes and welcome home kisses. She wants a normal marriage.
It was beautiful and heartbreaking to see her in the last panel. It meant so much, because right at that moment (probably) her husband was getting hurt. In marriage there’s a constant connection, especially when two people are in love (and these two are deeply in love).
I posted this before, but I’ll write it again, in case you didn’t see it:
This is marriage.
When you hurt, I hurt.
When you bleed, I bleed.
Tumblr media
That blood wasn’t Yor’s. Since she mentions her husband and she's thinking about him, I think that last panel is Twilight’s blood.
Bonus: Yor doesn’t think about Yuri (who she raised like her kid) or Anya (who is her kid). She thinks about her husband!! I think she's finally stepping out of the role of mom to step into the role of wife/adult woman. In other words, Your honor, she’s in love 💖
Now, questions: Did Twilight get killed? No, I don’t think so. Severely injured? Maybe. But I believe it won’t be too severe, because he still has to confront Wheeler unless...(here comes the crazy theory): Who was Wheeler talking on the phone?
Tumblr media
He didn’t show up at the appointment with the SSS. We don’t know where he is. So the crazy theory is that he could be involved with the Garden. Honestly, it’s a long shot. Unlikely, but it would also be a huge twist and you know l LOVE twists 😏
It could also fit, because if Twilight is injured and has to be pulled from the mission, WISE doesn’t stand a chance. AND it would leave Wheeler to appear at a later arc, now involved with the Garden and maybe our dear Thorn Princess (maybe, jealous Loid arc?) Unlikely, but fun it’s fun to dream.
My two cents:
Twilight is the one who got shot, but is not deadly injured. He may actually have to go home early!
Probably there will still be an encounter with Wheeler, but let’s hope he doesn’t have to fight him. Things are still very much in the air with Wheeler, so let’s just wait and see.
The arc is still very incomplete and could take a turn in any direction. I know a lot of you want some action/fighting between Twilight and Wheeler, but I would be happy if Mr. Spy just went home early to be with his wife and this turned into a complete Twiyor arc. We’ll see.
One last word about Yuri. Now, I think he’ll be the one who discovers Twilight’s identity. That kid is smart and if he starts putting the pieces together, he may end up discovering everything. This confrontation is one big piece and I’d like to believe that Twilight not killing Yuri will be a deciding factor in the end. I’ve said it before, at some point Yuri is going to have to choose between duty and his family and I believe he will choose his family (at a great personal cost).
But not only that, last time Twilight chose not to kill an enemy, something good has happened: When he spared Franky he began a transformation and stared working for peace. What will happen now that he chose not to kill another enemy? My guess is that he’ll become more human and it’ll have to do with Yor.
Tumblr media
Something tells me this is one of those chapters that will be VERY important in the future. So let’s keep an eye on it.

Daddy-daughter dates:
Requested by thee amazing @killatravtramp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summer break was finally coming to a close, Hazel and Jade were both going to start school in two days and you and Jack had been having a tough time with it.
“I can’t believe how quickly summer went” you sighed, filling both of the girl's backpacks with their required school supplies.
“Just yesterday we were swimming in the backyard getting sunburned” Jack joked trying to lighten the mood.
“YOU were getting sunburned” You emphasized the word “you” making him laugh so hard he snorted as he walked over to help you.
As you shoved a pencil case into Hazel's bag you checked the time.
“Don’t forget I have my nail appointment at nine.”
“Don’t worry I have a day planned out for me and the girls” Jack hummed, his dimple prominent as you watched him proudly confess that to you.
“Jack Harlow? Thee Jack Harlow made a plan? Hell is freezing over!” You teased earning a playful swat on the butt. His long arms eventually wrap around you from behind. He leaned his head on your back.
“You know how I am” he shrugged.
“I know my love, your whole life is scheduled. I was just joking.”
“I love you” he sighed, feeling understood.
“I love you too” You leaned into him as he kissed your neck.
“I’m going to take the girls out for a daddy-daughter date. Coffee, target, the library, lunch, and probably some stuff in between.”
“Sounds good! Maybe I’ll get my toes done too” you wiggled your toes that were flat on the ground.
“You probably should” he made a grotesque face for dramatics making you giggle as the girls finally came into the living room dressed to go.
“Where are we going?” Hazel questioned as she walked over to you both.
“Starbucks first” Jack smiled, knowing both girls would love that answer.
“Starbies!!” Jade giggled jumping up and down.
“Be safe. I love all of you so much!” You gave everyone and hug and kiss, reminding Jack that if he needed to call for security not to hesitate.
He made sure to give you a memorable kiss goodbye before following Hazel and Jade out of the house.
The girls were always excited to spend time with the both of you, but spending alone time with Jack always came few and far between especially with his schedule.
“Can we get breakfast too?” Hazel asked as she helped Jade into her seat.
“Do you want breakfast from Starbucks or somewhere else?”
“Starbies!” Jade repeated.
“That works!” Hazel nodded at her dad through the rearview mirror.
“I thought we could go to Starbucks, target, and maybe the library today,” Jack told them the plan to see if they were interested in it.
“I love the lie berry!” Jade kicked her feet excitedly.
“Targets my favorite!” Hazel giggled and Jack knew he had planned the perfect day.
After getting their Starbucks order, Jack pulled into Target. He helped both girls out of the car, instructing them to hold hands as he looked around nervously.
“I don’t see anyone looking at us Daddy” Hazel hummed, knowing that her dad was always on high alert when he went out.
Jack nodded, feeling a sense of guilt that she already knew the routine and how he felt about it all.
Jade sat inside the shopping cart and Hazel held onto it as they browsed the aisles. He put a few sports bras and pajamas in the cart that he knew you’d like before taking the girls to the toy aisle.
“I’d really like to have one of those” Jade mumbled as she pointed to the stack of squishmallows.
Hazel yanked a mushroom out of the stack, “Daddy can we get squishmallows?”
“You can each pick one” he smiled, Jade excitedly stood up wobbling in the cart as Jack rushed behind her to ensure she didn’t fall.
“Which one do you want Jadey? I’ll get it” Hazel motioned for her little sister to sit down.
“Hims!” Jade pointed to a goat squishmallow that was sitting on top of the pile. Hazel couldn’t reach it so Jack pulled it down and into the cart with Jade.
“Unique choice” Jack wiggled his eyebrow making the girls giggle. As he handed Jade her goat squishmallow, he and Jack had matching goatees.
Jack walked up and down the aisles with the girls, pushing the cart. He knew they loved coming here and truthfully he didn’t mind it either. He restocked on protein powder and some snacks.
It wasn’t long until he realized he had been spotted, feeling a sixth sense of some sort.
“Daddy, those ladies in the corner are watching you” Hazel whispered but Jack had already seen them. It was almost weirder to him when someone didn’t approach him and only watched from a distance.
“Let’s get some water at the check out and go somewhere else.” He smiled, trying his best to hide his panic. If he was alone he wouldn’t feel so strongly but being with his kids brought out the fight or flight in him.
Hazel grabbed the water bottles and helped her dad at self-checkout. The young girl who oversaw the checkout area recognized Jack immediately knowing he came here with the girls a lot.
“How’re you doing today Mr. Harlow?”
Jack flashed her a smile, “I’m having a good day with my girls. How’re you?”
“Good!” She smiled before realizing the gawking ladies had come up closely behind him.
“Ladies, self-checkout is full. We ask that you stand back at least six feet from each customer, thank you!” She gave Jack a subtle wink as the ladies did what they were told.
Jack practically jogged to the car, throwing everything in there quickly and rushing to get the girls in it.
“Library?” Jade asked excitedly. She took after Jack in that aspect, she liked to read (what she could) and look at the picture books.
“Of course!” Jack smiled, wiping the sweat dripping off his forehead with his forearm. He checked the parking lot thoroughly before putting the car in reverse.
“I don’t see the ladies anymore Daddy. Don’t worry” Hazel knew he was looking around to make sure they didn’t follow.
When the three of them got to the library Jade ran over to the children’s books immediately making Jack chuckle as Hazel stayed by his side.
The library was usually quiet and rarely busy, which was a nice change.
“You can go look at books, I’ll be right here” Jack pointed to a wooden table that was in the middle of the room. He could see them from where he was sitting so he wasn’t concerned.
Hazel went with Jade up and down most of the rows of books. The two of them found a few to look at, bringing them over to where Jack was sitting.
“Read please?” Jade handed Jack a cute cartoon book about crocodiles who cry.
Hazel and Jade loved when their dad read them stories, he gave each character its own voice and acted out a lot of the scenes.
Jack motioned for them to follow him to the bean bag chairs that were laid out against the corner of the room, and he sat down with them and read to them both.
“I want a crocodile now” Jade giggled as Jack closed the book and set it to the side.
“We can’t have a pet crocodile! Daddy barely likes Lucky!”
“I love Lucky! Even when he chews up my socks” Jack groaned making the girls laugh.
“I’m having fun today” Hazel smiled. “I hate that we have to go back to school already.”
“I know Hazey, summer flew by.”
“I don’t wanna go to school. So, I won’t” Jade shrugged, hopping up from the bean bag.
Jack thought he’d save the “you have to” spiel for another day knowing he didn’t want to ruin the momentum of the day. He waved his hand and motioned for Hazel not to correct her either.
“Are you girls hungry?” Jack checked the time realizing a majority of the day had already flown by.
“I’m always hungry!” Jade grabbed Jack's hand and held it as they walked back to the car.
“I was thinking we could eat at Silvio's?”
Both girls squealed, clapping their hands and cheering, which was the exact response Jack had hoped for.
Silvios was an Italian restaurant that the girls were obsessed with and considering Jade was so picky, the options were limited of where they could go today.
Jack had a good relationship with the owner, texting them about a private room and getting an immediate yes.
When the three stepped inside the restaurant and were seated Jack had them pose for a photo and quickly sent it to you.
“They are so cute! Wait, Silvios? I’m so jealous. Jade is probably 50% pasta from there.”
Jack chuckled at your reply, knowing that when you were pregnant with Jade you made him pick up a lot of pasta from here.
He had wondered if you had ever told the girls that story.
“Did mommy ever tell you that when you were in her belly she always wanted pasta from here?” Jack turned to Jade who was pretending to look at the menu.
“No?” Jade giggled. “Maybe that’s why I like it so much!”
“Maybe!” Jack chuckled. “And you’re probably made up of grandma's cherry cheesecake” he scrunched his nose at Hazel, who he knew hated that cheesecake.
“Yucky! I don’t like cherry cheesecake!” She giggled realizing that maybe she had the opposite effect than her sister.
After they ordered Jack watched the two of them interacting back and forth. He was quiet, just observing until Hazel noticed he was watching.
“What’s wrong Daddy?” Hazel was concerned, looking at his face for some sort of emotion.
“Nothing bug” Truthfully they reminded him of him and Clay.
“Promise?” She narrowed her eyes at him.
“Promise Hazey, did you have a good day today?”
“We both did!” Jade answered for her making Jack and Hazel laugh at the same time.

Yor's Day
Yor’s day had started off normally enough. She had breakfast with her family as usual. She caught the train to City Hall. Now was in the office listening to her coworkers complain.
Camilla eyed the growing stack of paperwork in the department inbox with distaste. “I hate the end of the month! Everyone procrastinates and then expects us to be able to get all their stuff in on time.”
Millie groaned in agreement. “I can’t believe we have to go through all this today.”
“You have to.”  Sharon commented. “I’m taking off early.”
“What seriously?”
“It’s been on the schedule for two weeks. It’s a half day at Eden College. I’m picking up my child and then I booked us both dental appointments.”
“Oh, that was a good idea.” Yor chimed in. She’d have to remember to tell Loid about it.
Camilla rounded on her “And I suppose you’re cutting out early too?”
“Oh, No. Loid is picking up Anya today. I’ll be here till closing.”
Sharon went back to her typewriter. “Lucky you.  I wish I could tell my husband it was his day to handle the kids.”
“Well, it makes sense.” Millie said. “It’s not like Anya is Yor’s daughter so—"
“Millie!” Camilla interrupted.
“I didn’t mean it as insult. I was just. . .”  Millie trailed off looking at Yor’s downcast expression.
“No. You’re right. I’m just her stepmother.” Yor kept her eyes on the form she was working on even though her eyesight blurred a little. The conversation died down around her and everyone awkwardly got back to work.
For the next couple of hours Yor tried to put all her attention on accounts payable and avoiding typos but the feeling of gloom remained. She barely noticed when Sharon made her exit accompanied by death glares from Camilla and Millie. Maybe if she sped through her paperwork she could leave early. She looked at the department inbox which didn’t seem any emptier. Maybe not.
It was going to be a long, lonely day. Just then Millie cursed quietly and yanked the paper out of her typewriter, tossed it in the trash and loaded another one. Okay, so today wasn’t going to be a day of gossiping and lingering over tea but she wasn’t alone. Why did she feel lonely? She was needed here even if she wasn’t needed--
Goodness, she had to cheer herself up somehow. Maybe for lunch she’d go to a café instead of the basement cafeteria. The food would be better. She might even order dessert. Anything to get out this mood.
A runner stuck his head in the office door. “Mrs. Forger? You have visitors at the front desk.
Yor startled and got up. She didn’t usually get visitors. Her first thought was Garden business, but if that were the case she would be meeting them in a back office not the public area of the building. She pushed open the door into the lobby and began walking toward the desk. Why did her mind keep returning to her family? The man at the desk even looked like Loid from the back. Suddenly her daughter peeked out from around his legs.
“MAMA! HAVE YOU EATEN YET?” Anya called out.
“Inside voice, Anya” Loid hushed her. Then he turned to Yor. “We came to see if you would like to join us for lunch. That is if you aren’t busy.”
Yor looked at them. Anya was still in her Eden uniform; they must have come straight from school. They wanted to see her.
Yor smiled, almost in tears for the second time today.  “I’d love to. Let me grab my coat and tell the girls I’m taking my break.  There’s a great café just down the street.”
Her day was looking up.

Minho 커피 원해? (anyone want coffee?) Jisung ㅇㅇ (yup) Felix 내!!!! (yes!!!!) Chan 주세요. (please.) Seungmin 됐어요 (im good) Y/N I mean, if you’re offering It might be a bit cold by the time you get here though Minho Ahh, wrong chat Sorry Jisung Wait a minute! Since when do you read Korean?!! Y/N I don’t??!! I just used google translate Although I did recognize 내! That means yes :D Minho 귀엽다 (cute) Changbin Waa, our soulmate is so smart. Y/N :D Don’t drink too much coffee though. I’ve been told it is not a meal >:( Im talking to you, Chan Chan I have no idea what you’re talking about Y/N >:( Jeongin >:( Felix >:( Jisung >:( Chan It’s only my second cup today! And the first one was 3 hours ago! Y/N IT’S ONLY 9AM! Chan … Felix I’m going to kill you
0o0o0
Y/N Hey, can I ask for some advice? I need an unbiased opinion Sophie Well I’m not sure I’d consider myself unbiased. I’m definitely Han biased, that’s for sure. ;) Y/N It’s about my soulmate Sophie OH! I totally forgot about that, you haven’t talked about them at all! Y/N Yeah, between everything with my dad and then school and stuff … My mom has been on my ass these past few weeks about it Sophie About what? Y/N She thinks its unhealthy for me to be away from them She has this scary close bond with her soulmate, a childhood friend of hers. And she can’t imagine being away from her, so she thinks that I need to go be with my soulmate But I’ve been refusing, and now every time I see her it feels like she’s seconds away from starting another argument I’m just so tired of all the arguing, and wondering if maybe she’s right I have been having a harder time getting sleep Sophie Oh wow, that’s …. Wow. Y/N yeah Sophie I’m not sure you want my honest opinion right now. Y/N Please, I do. I need someone that isn’t my mom to be straight up with me. Am I being irrational? Sophie Well, first of all, being away from your soulmates is definitely not easy. But It’s also not a big deal, and long distance relationships work fine even between new soulmates. So maybe your mom is projecting a little bit. But I don’t think that’s the problem here. Y/N ??? Sophie Why does the idea of leaving to be with your soulmates bother you so much? I mean, when I found Alexis I was overjoyed, but I still didn’t have time to see him a lot. We both had school and work, and it was hard to find time to spend together. Honestly, I would have taken any opportunity I had to be with him. And yet here you are, turning down all of your mom’s offers. I feel like something else is at play here than just your mom’s pushiness. Y/N … Sophie I told you you wouldn’t like my opinion. Y/N No, you’re right Fuck, you’re right Sophie I usually am :) Y/N Thank’s Sophie, I really needed someone to knock some sense into me. Sophie Glad I could help. Want some memes? Y/N Yes, please!
0o0o0
Y/N Mom. I’m sorry You were right, I want to be with my soulmates. I really appreciate everything you’ve done to give me the opportunity to be with them. And I’m sorry I’ve been so stubborn about it. But Mom, I feel like you’re pushing me away. I feel like you don’t want me here. My soulmates will never be more important than you. You’re my mom, and I worry about you and dad. I worry about you guys being by yourselves, about being away from you. I’m scared and I just feel like everything is moving too fast. Can you call me when you get off work? I love you.
0o0o0
Y/N We need to talk Chan That doesn’t sound good Y/N It’s nothing bad, I promise Chan Okay? Y/N My dad has been getting better. He’s walking now. Chan That’s great! I’m glad your dad’s okay. Y/N Yeah Chan I have a feeling that’s not what you wanted to talk about, though. Y/N They managed to talk with a neighbor, and he agreed to drive my dad to his appointments if my mom can’t take him. And I started taking online classes. Chan Huh? Y/N Chris I think we need to talk about what happens when you guys are done with your tour.

He’s parked outside Y/N’s expensive house but he’s managed to hack into her security cameras as easily as he does laundry. She’s inside her bedroom getting undressed for the night. Damn, she looks better than she did when he last saw her years ago. She pulls on the country-fair t-shirt her ex-girlfriend got for her in college. He remembers that night. Everyone in school went to that thing.
She climbs into bed and keeps her bedside lamp on for a source of light. There are so many things in her room that it makes him sick. She is so materialistic. She makes all this money and doesn’t do anything meaningful with it. She fills her house with trinkets and expensive things to make it look like she’s this glamorous person. She’s not. She’s putting up a facade.
He could go inside her house right now and take it all from her in an instant… if he wanted to, that is.
Tumblr media
After a long and hard day at work, you’re ready to wind down and sleep easy knowing you’re about to see your girlfriend in two days. You grab your phone and FaceTime her so you can see her gorgeous face before bed. She answers from inside her hotel room with room service on the table. She’s on a case a few hours from where you are by plane.
“Hi, gorgeous,” you grin.
“Hey, I thought you’d be sleeping by now.”
“I couldn't go to bed without saying goodnight to you. I miss you.”
“I come home in two days,” she chuckles.
“I can’t wait that long. Maybe I’ll head to the airport and fly to you. Maybe I’ll surprise you in bed.”
“You’d cost me my job because we wouldn't leave it.”
“Tempting,” you smirk. “How was your day?”
“Long. It took us longer to build a profile of the unsub which resulting him killing two more women. We finally got it ready and gave it out. I’m hoping we have him tomorrow or else I’ll have to stay out here a little bit longer.”
“I just want you to stay safe even if that means you being away from me for a bit longer. You’ll get the bad guy. You always do.”
“My team does. I’m just the liaison.”
“That team would be nothing without you. You’re a vital part. Don’t forget that,” you wink.
“How was your day?”
“Productive. I had a meeting with a new client, someone I’ve never worked with before. No, I can’t tell you who it is but just know she’s A-list.”
“Wow, good for you.” JJ sees the slightly upset look on your face. “What’s wrong? Did something else happen today?”
“I got a call from Mark again. I didn’t think he’d be so bold to call. He called my assistant to set up a meeting with me, but I overheard her say his name. I told her never to make an appointment with him and to decline all of his calls.”
“Are you sure you don’t want my team’s help?”
“I can handle it but I love how much you worry.”
“I will always worry when it comes to you.”
“Alright, angel, I have to go. I’m tired, but I will talk to you tomorrow morning and I’ll see you in two days.”
“Okay, goodnight,” she smiles.
Both of you kiss the screens before hanging up. You sleep good knowing she is safe where she is and you’re safe where you are.
The next morning, instead of going to the office and working on your designs, you have to stop by one of your stores to check on how they’re doing. It’s so weird. The second you stepped foot out of the door, you felt like someone was watching you. Even now while you’re walking down the street to your store, you feel eyes on you.
You stop outside of it and look at the busy street behind you. People hustle to get to their jobs, cars drive by with passengers, and none of them are looking at you or watching you. Why are you feeling this way? You push down this feeling and walk into your store with a smile.
“Y/N! Welcome back!” the store manager greets.
“Betty, it’s so nice to see you again. How are things here?”
“Just fine. We’re doing pretty well this week, though, product is running a bit low.”
“Yeah, I have more in stock which I’ll bring tomorrow.”
“Oh, I almost forgot, someone came in asking for you.”
“Who?”
“She didn’t leave a name but she did leave this.”
Betty takes you to the back where a bouquet of flowers is. It’s your favorite kinds of flowers all rolled into one bouquet. Attached to the vase is a card, and you rip it off to read what it says.
Nice to see you still have that country-fair t-shirt I got you. You looked so good in it last night.
Fear creeps up your neck because how the hell did this person know what you were wearing last night? You did wear an old t-shirt your ex-girlfriend got you, but you’re confused because you haven’t talked to her since you graduated college.
“Are you sure she didn’t leave a name?”
“Yeah. She came in twenty minutes ago. She might still be outside.”
You immediately leave the store in search of the woman you once knew. People pass you by on their way to malls or their jobs but none of them are Courtney. The feeling of someone watching you has increased so you head back inside to escape it.
“Thank you for accepting the flowers. I’ll take them.” Betty hands them over and talks about the revenue for this week which has been in the high positives for quite some time now. “Keep up the good work. We’ll talk about raises next week because I’m impressed with your work. I’ll bring more product tomorrow.”
“Thank you, Y/N. We’ll see you tomorrow,” she grins.
You leave the store with the flowers only to toss them into the dumpster next to the store. You keep the card for evidence. You’re not sure what this is but you don’t think it’s smart to throw it away. On your way back to your office, you call the police to make a report that someone was watching you last night and left you flowers with a creepy note attached to them. You’re not sure what they can do with that information but at least a report was documented.
The second you get off the phone with the police, you call JJ.
“Hey, can I call you back in a bit?”
“I think I’m being stalked,” you blurt.
“Excuse me,” she says to someone in the room with her. She steps out to give herself some privacy. “Did you say you’re being stalked?”
“I’m sorry for bothering you. I know you’re busy--”
“No, what’s going on?”
“I went to one of my stores to check on things when the manager said someone dropped off flowers for me. I got a note with the flowers that suggested someone was watching me last night. Whoever this is mentioned a shirt I was wearing last night but I was alone.”
“Did you find out who left you the flowers?”
“No, but it’s implied my ex-girlfriend did it because I was wearing the shirt she gave me in college. I can’t think of why she’d leave me notes or how she knew what I was wearing last night. I haven’t seen or talked to her since I graduated college. I called the police to make a report about it but I wanted you to know.”
“We caught the unsub today. We’re heading home as soon as possible. We should get there really late at night or tomorrow morning depending on when the rest of the team wants to leave. I’ll help you out when I do get home.”
“No, it’s fine. I don’t think it’s anything serious that the FBI needs to get involved with.”
“I’m helping you, Y/N. I have the means to. Just let me look into it, at least.”
“Fine. I gotta go. Sorry I took you away from your job. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Maybe this was a prank. Maybe someone wants to scare you. How did this person know what you were wearing? Your security lights didn’t go off last night so there was no one close enough to your house to see what you were wearing. Did they hack into your cameras? If they did, they’d have to be really smart because you have a very sophisticated system.
Your paranoia doesn’t go away even when you’re getting ready for bed. You still feel like someone is watching you but you can’t see anyone inside or outside your house. Maybe this is just a bad feeling and it’ll go away tomorrow.
You’re maybe three hours into the night when you’re woken up by your house alarm going off. You shoot up in bed and look around the dark room, afraid that if you turn on the light, whoever caused the alarm to go off will know you’re awake.
Plus, you know your own house better than anyone. You can navigate through the darkness.
You grab your phone and keep the backlight on dim as you go to your camera app. Every single camera you own has been disabled so you’re looking at a completely black screen. You have no eyes anywhere. You have no idea who is inside your house. The alarm shuts off presumably by the person who set it off.
The fear you felt from your first robbery is slowly coming back but you have to keep a level head. Panic is what kills people. You get out of bed just as you hear someone rummaging through your house. It sounds like they are getting closer so you dash to your closet and hide behind some clothes.
Your alarm is connected to the police so they should have gotten an alarm but you still dial 911 just to be safe.
“911, what’s your emergency?”
JJ is thankful that the team wanted to come home earlier so she can be with you sooner. She is eager to get to your place and get to the bottom of who is making your life hell. Her phone rings as soon as she gets into her car, and she answers it when she sees it’s her friend from the VAPD.
“Josie, what’s going on?”
“You told me to call you if anything happened at Y/N’s house.”
JJ doesn’t have to hear the whole story to convince her team to head immediately to your house. The entire street is blocked off by police and fire and ambulance are already at your house. She doesn’t want to seem desperate by running into your house like a maniac but she does speed walk to get there. You’re sitting on the couch with a cut on your head that a paramedic is looking at.
“Y/N!”
“JJ,” you whimper.
She joins your side on the couch while the rest of the team questions the police and tries to figure out what happened here.
“Oh, my God. Are you okay? What happened?”
“I don’t know. I woke up to someone breaking into my house. I was sleeping and I checked the cameras but they were all disabled. I ran into my closet and called 911 but he heard me and came after me. Either I hit my head or he slammed me into something but he definitely tried attacking me. Police were here in under five minutes. He heard the sirens and bolted. I didn’t see his face.”
You’re almost in tears from how scared you are and your whole body is shaking from fear. JJ pulls you closer and smooths down your hair and rubs your back.
“Come here. I’m right here now. You’re okay.”
“I don’t know how he disabled my cameras or if he stole anything but I’m terrified.”
“I know. You’re staying with me tonight, okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper.
You hate feeling like a little child because that’s what fear feels like to you. It makes you cower in and reverts your mind back to what it was like as a child. You hate feeling physically vulnerable.
“I’ll be right back. I’ll be right over there.” JJ leaves the paramedic to finish his job while she joins the officers whom Hotch and Derek are talking to. “Do you have any suspects?”
“None that fits the description she gave us. However, she did file a report about flowers and a note being left at one of her stores earlier today. I guess someone was watching her sleep the night before. An ex-girlfriend she seems to think. I’ll have someone get in contact with her and have her come down for questioning.”
“Okay. Is she okay to leave here?”
“Yeah, as soon as the paramedics are done checking her out. This place will remain a crime scene for a few days. There’s blood inside her closet presumably from her but we want to make sure.”
“Of course,” JJ nods. When the paramedic says you don’t need to go to the hospital, JJ helps you pack a bag. “You’re going to be okay. My team is on this and there is no one better to help.”
“I know. I just hate that it had to come to this.”
“Come on, let’s go home and rest.”
Tumblr media
Fuck. She just had to fight back. He almost had her but the bitch put up a good fight on him. The second he heard those sirens it was either her or him, so he ran. He’ll get her another time but he has to wait until the smoke clears with the police.
He sits in his car a few blocks over with his eyes closed and mouth parted. As terrible as it was that he didn't get her, he got a rush of adrenaline just from being there. Damn, he missed that. He hasn’t felt this way in a really, really long time.
Now that he got a taste of it again, he’s just getting started.

Chopra Household: Chapter 6, Part 8
The birthday continues! Most of the family have appointments to attend afterwards leaving Savannah and Viola under the care of nana Lavina. I mean it's not like she could be any worse than Alana the (insert your favourite swear word for mean nanny)
Tumblr media
BTW it was daylight savings here so that's why my posts may seem an hour shifted for you...
If Viola is attempting to say something it will be in brackets, otherwise you can assume it's just trying out sounds Mercedes has a speech delay and may get words wrong, correct wording will be in brackets if that is the case Savannah aka Honeybee Mercedes aka Little Ladybug Viola aka Green Bean
Mercedes: Hey nana
Lavina: Happy birthday kiddo
Mercedes: I have bad news, papa went to the doctor and they found out he’s sick
Lavina: What? Oh why didn’t he tell me? I can’t lose him
Mercedes: Kidding!
Lavina: That’s not very funny young lady
Bizarre thing happened. Mercedes had rolled a like of deception but after this got a prompt saying she felt mischief was wrong? I like the game to have some say so while I did not add a dislike of mischief I changed her like of deception to silly behaviour to match her sister.
Tumblr media
Milton: Oh hey you have cake
Savannah: Of course Milton, it’s a birthday party
Milton: That’s uncle Milton to you
Savannah: Mama do we really have to call him uncle? He’s only 2 years older than us
Cassandra: It’s important to be polite to family honeybee
Lavina: And respectful! You girls could learn more respect
Mercedes: *sighs* It was one joke nana
Cassandra: Lavina I have an appointment and Rahul needs to take Mercedes to one. Could you watch the kids for us please?
Savannah: I can watch the house mama
Lavina: Of course I can dear, take all the time you need
Tumblr media
Savannah: But nana I can do it
Lavina: You’re six, you couldn’t take care of a fire. Now I hear your sister crying, go play outside or learn something
Savannah: Oh maybe I can find some cool bugs!
Lavina: Just don’t bring them into the house
Poor Viola has been trying to get to sleep but is still a bit overwhelmed by the party.
Lavina: Now what’s all this? You are making a habit of crying every time you see me Viola
Viola: *cries* ge da noo lu (I'm so tired, clapping took it out of me)
Lavina: Is nana scary huh? Big bad nana. Close your eyes and sleep, big bad nana can defend your crib from the monsters huh
Following some soothing Viola does manage to fall asleep as Lavina watches over her.
Tumblr media
Outside Savannah isn’t having much luck. But around by the garden she spots some locusts, perfect, papa will approve of catching them! She grabs at them and manages to get hold of 2. Perhaps she can convince mama and papa to take her and Mercedes to Granite Falls so she can find more! Back inside she decides to tackle some homework.
Milton: Why are you holding your pencil like that
Savannah: Like what
Alexander: Don’t be rude Milton, not everyone does things the same way
Tumblr media
Milton: Did you never use crayons
Savannah: *gruffly* I have a motor delay actually, pencils are hard
Milton: Oh, sorry
Alexander: That’ll teach you not to be rude
Savannah: I think I’ll go see if mama is back
Milton: I am sorry!
...
Cassandra is pumping in the spare room when Savannah finds her.
Savannah: Mama, can I still go to OT now I’m a child
Cassandra: Of course you can honeybee. It might be called something different but any support you need, we’ll find for you
Tumblr media
Savannah: Then Uncle Alexander told him off
Mercedes: Nice!
Savannah: So what did the brain doctor say
Mercedes: They want me to do… Papa how did they say it?
Rahul: Your sister is getting referred to another type of doctor to see if she needs extra help at school
Mercedes: Can I not go to school?
Rahul: No! Whatever you need we can sort but you’ll be best having your first day with your sister
Savannah: Yeah. You don’t want to leave me alone do you? We do everything together
Tumblr media
Mercedes: Except OT and word class
Cassandra brings Viola to the table and the family begin eating. For some reason everyone is migrating away from Viola?
Mercedes: Mama did your point tent (appointment) go okay
Cassandra: Apparently I have ADHD which I guess is a bit of a surprise but I’ll be fine. Everybody’s brain has to work in its own way
Rahul: Exactly! Now Viola, how about some peanut butter puffs? Nice and yummy
Viola looks at her papa, confused. Why is what he holding bigger than the things on the plate? It can’t just be her eyesight playing up, can it?
Tumblr media
Savannah: Mama, can we have a trip to Granite Falls? I’d love to see some more bugs
Cassandra: Actually papa and I have been talking and we’d like you two to join scouts
Mercedes: Scouts? Why
Rahul: Nature is important to us, we want you both to learn to love it
Cassandra: Plus it will leave after school times free for OT and word class
The girls remain skeptical but agree. Meanwhile Viola is unsure about the taste of peanut butter puffs (and their creepy resemblance to banana once she picks them up) but one thing is for sure, they are fun to play with!
Tumblr media
Savannah: Do we have to go to bed mama
Cassandra: It’s getting late honeybee, and don’t you want to check out the new bunk beds
Mercedes: I call dibs on the bottom one! That way you can still tuck me in mama
Cassandra: *smiles* alright but we need to clean up dinner first
Savannah: I got the plates
Cassandra: Mercedes could you put the leftovers away before they spoil please
Mercedes: Yes mama
Tumblr media
Rahul: How do you two like the bunks
Savannah: It’s great papa. I can be up high just like butterflies are
Rahul: Good night rugrats, I love you two
Twins: Goodnight papa
Savannah climbs up to the top and snuggles in while Cassandra tucks Mercedes in.
Cassandra: Goodnight Mercedes. I love you both, have good dreams
Twins: Love you mama

"Good afternoon. I have an appointment at five o'clock?"
Aziraphale Fell smiled at the lovely receptionist in the dentist, who handed him a stack of paperwork after he politely reminded her - yet again - that he did not have an email address, had no desire to have an email address, and he had no issue filling in paperwork. She handed him a biro with a chewed end and sent him upstairs to await Doctor Service.
The waiting room at the Whickber Dental Practice was small: there were six seats, all told, and a sprawling figure with black snakeskin boots was taking up half of them. Upon spotting the figure, the hand clutching the clipboard fell. "You."
A pair of sunglasses slipped downwards and an easy smile bloomed on the other man's face. "Angel. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were stalking me."
"Hardly. And I have a name, you know. It's not Angel."
The other man merely snorted and went back to perusing an out-of-date copy of Gardner's Weekly. Aziraphale took one of the empty seats opposite, nose wrinkling at the pen, and began filling out the forms required before his appointment. More than once, his gaze drifted to the dreadful man opposite him. They had first met in line at the coffee shop - where this awful man had pushed past Aziraphale in the queue. Next had been the pharmacy - where Aziraphale had let everyone bar him cut in front. Then the post office. The Dirty Donkey. Even waiting for a table at the new restaurant Aziraphale had been dying to try.
It was becoming rather ridiculous. Yet, Aziraphale had no desire whatsoever to get to know this man that fate kept throwing in his path. Aziraphale's gaze darted in his direction, following the long line of his legs. Even if he was bloody gorgeous.
Aziraphale quickly busied himself. He had forms to fill out. His brushing habits were excellent: twice a day, electric toothbrush, regular flossing. He began to falter, however, when he came to the questions on units of alcohol and sweet treats per day.
"You can lie, you know. They won't know." Aziraphale glanced up from his form. The man was watching him intently. "It's what I do."
"But they will. Know, I mean. They can tell from my teeth." Aziraphale, shame crawling over him, put down the accurate units. Ish. "For the best."
The man hummed. "I 'spose. But we both know that whatever advice they give you, you'll be back to ignoring it before lunchtime. Maybe at a charming bistro or a lovely patisserie."
Aziraphale flushed. He did not care for this man's judgement - especially from a man who had a beaten packet of cigarettes in his front pocket and a dusty mouth guard case that looked like it hadn't been opened since the 90s. But, before he could be drawn into yet another argument about social decorum, Doctor Sandwich's dental assistant appeared.
"Anthony Crowley?"
The man raised his hand. "That's me." He stood from the chair, hips swaying as he followed the assistant. Before he climbed the short flight of stairs to the dental suite, he stared at Aziraphale. "A pleasure, as always, Angel. Where will we meet next?"
"Nowhere, if there is a God."
The man, Crowley, threw his head back and laughed. He then offered Aziraphale a wink and went to his appointment. Aziraphale just sat, clipboard firmly clutched in his hands, and tried to focus on the fact that he loathed this man - and not that the acrobatics his stomach was making at the memory of the way Crowley had stared at him. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they were to run into each other again. Maybe.
Give me a number - that’s how many seconds I’ll spend thinking of an Aziraphale/Crowley AU to write for you in 200 words or more.

The Long Road to Together
Tommy Miller x Original plus size female character (Velora)
Fanfiction 18+
Masterlist
Warnings: Angst, Fluff, drug addiction mention, pain management, anxiety, PTSD, mentions of death, possible dub con (maybe), body worship, Tommy Miller's dirty talk, fingering, oral sex (female receiving), P in V (practice safe sex everyone), pregnancy kink, domestic fluff, cheesy jokes
Summary: Velora has been apart of the Miller brothers' lives decades. She's particularly close to Tommy. They've shared countless memories with each other over the years and in a single night everything changes. If only they'd get out of their own way.
Notes: So, I put many subjects and themes I've wanted to write about in here. It should make sense, I had the wonderful @musings-of-a-rose beta it for me and as a fellow Tommy fan, I trust her. I did also add a subplot with Joel because, why not try one out? I really enjoyed this and for Tommy's character. I have a different take on him.
Word count: just under 16K (because Tommy's worth it!)
Tumblr media
“You got anything for a bad back?”
“Nothing that will actually take care of the pain. Best I can promise you is to dull it. You need to go see a specialist, Joel.”
“That sounds like it’s gonna take time I don’t have. You know I gotta…”
“Yeah, I know. Just let me know what appointments they have and I’ll see what my shifts are like old man. You can’t be folding over when Sarah’s just getting into high school. There will be boys there!”
A slap was heard to Joel’s shoulder and he winced, letting out a curse as he hunched over further at his desk. The stress of running the business by himself was getting to him. Tommy had taken a sabbatical as he called it, the timing had been pretty poor. Thankfully, he had a woman who he considered a little sister to help him out. Her father had been friends with theirs and they always hung out together as children. In middle school, the family moved away for a time, but returned while the Miller brothers were in the middle of high school. Velora had just started high school and looked similar to how she did now, telling dumbass jokes, finding a reason to smack Joel and always being supportive.
He organized the files that he would need for tomorrow and in particular, permits needed for a job the company would be starting on a ranch outside of Austin. Rebuilding a stable wasn’t too out of their depth, Joel just needed to research more on the permits required which he did, but damn if all the reading was making his head hurt even with his glasses on, add his back pain to that and he was miserable. He missed riding horses, but not so much he was willing to risk not being able to move for a few days. Velora had taken over administrative tasks that Tommy normally did as he was better at it and knew how to navigate the different offices they normally had to deal with the state and city, he was also much better at schmoozing suits and the like than his grumpy self. Velora helped out on her days off in between her shifts at the hospital. She sent Joel off for the evening and put away files that the elder Miller brother had taken out for review.
“He’s got to learn to put this stuff back. Otherwise he’s never going to find anything.” Velora griped, she wore gray capri leggings because they were easy to move in and matched her white t-shirt. Usually she would dress a bit better for the office in case Joel brought any clients by, but he had been out most of the day, leaving her to get phone calls, further organize items and files. She was also trying to understand Tommy’s organization system which even though he had explained it over the phone twice, she still didn’t understand. “He’s been gone three weeks, like I get it but also I still don’t get what I’m looking at. It’s not even organized by color, number or alphabet, what the fuck is this?” Her brain hurt trying to work out the system. She thought Tommy had mentioned to her that it was by the date they took the client on, but there was no distinction between finished jobs and complete ones as those were mixed in and with different dates. “I feel like he could tell me five more times and I wouldn’t get it.” Shaking her head, she put the files where she thought they went near the front of the file cabinet and locked up the office, heading out to her car and driving home. Once in front of her small two bedroom, one and a half bath house, she sighed, happy to be home. She had a shift again tomorrow, but hopefully Joel would actually look for an appointment. Icy hot, tiger balm and heat packs could only do so much. Velora understood why Joel didn’t want to go to a pain clinic, he’d have to tell them about his past addiction issues with alcohol and it may affect his treatment plan, hell with some doctors, they just keep recommending tylenol and ibuprofen when that clearly hasn’t been working for him. He needed good pain management.
Kicking off her shoes, Velora flopped back on the couch and started at the ceiling. It was 8:30 at night. Too early to go to bed and too late to start any shows or movies.
“Where are you Tommy Miller?”
Elsewhere in the world…
The grass was crisp under his feet, the sun had just set not too long ago as he walked back down to the rock outcrop overlooking the rolls of green grass he had seen earlier that day. He couldn’t sleep again. The younger Miller brother had been worried about his brother Joel. He knew he didn’t deal too well with people even with Velora helping him. But he would text Joel later and maybe give Velora a call. There was more he needed to discuss with her than anyone else.
It had been seven years. They seemed to have passed by in a blink of an eye. Tommy recalled first joining the US Army, doing his patriotic duty and a way to use up the excess aggression he had from not really knowing where he was going next in life. At first it was fine, basic training then he was assigned to a platoon where he got to know other soldiers. It was when he was assigned to the 1st Armored Division that his optimism started to wear thin. His core group consisted of himself and five other members; they actually made it through Operation desert storm. What he saw there, the things he did, he never spoke about them except with the group and one person removed from the war. But the bodies, the smells, the tastes,, the sounds all of it overloaded everyone. Each man had their own way of dealing with it. One of the group was dishonorably discharged for using heroin he found overseas, but the Army never said what they did with the rest of it after removing it from belongings. He wasn’t the only one they confiscated it from, anyone who had it was dishonorably discharged but it was never made public what happened with the drugs. It was also never mentioned in great detail what they did to the country of Iraq. No one ever mentioned completely decimating and crippling a country, nearly burning it down to its foundation only for the same people who supplied the Army’s weapons and gear to switch profit off of a land that they aided in destroying.
Tommy left the army after seven years of service, thankfully his brother allowed him in the construction company to work so he wouldn’t go completely insane. But his ‘Ironsides’ members weren’t so lucky. One died from an opioid overdose, another from drunk driving and two from suicide by gunshot. None of the funerals were covered fully by the VA, each family only received $1500 toward burial costs, but had full honors with all the pomp and circumstance. The two cousins in their group asked to have their ashes spread to their home which was Ireland, the only reason the veteran came to this place. It was beautiful though he had to admit. He may want to bring Joel and Sarah here, his brother would complain the entire time but he may get a grin out of it and Sarah would enjoy exploring the land. The younger Miller wondered if he should ask Velora to come too, she wasn’t one for the cold, but may like the greenery too. Watching his oldest friend muddle around the hilly terrain would be fun, he could steady her, show her the lakes and watch the sunset with her. Tommy felt he may not have cried as much if his Sweet Pea was here, she could crack a joke or just let him hold her, rock him  slowly as his head was on her shoulder.
With two urns, one under each arm, Tommy carefully set one down and opened one, pouring the ashes out to scatter across the cool breeze that was blowing. He did the same with the second urn, waiting until another wind could carry the ashes away. Tommy had taken more time then he told Joel and Velora he would be gone, he didn’t mean to stay longer. It was just easier, he could work though his emotions more and not risk breaking down in front of them, though that had failed with Velora the night he told her he was going to spread that ashes per his brothers-in-arms wishes.
Four weeks ago…
He had mentioned it like he was going to the store. She had asked him to explain and he didn’t. Tommy wasn’t going to until she pulled him into a hug. He didn’t realize it at the time, but tears had been running down his face. He remembered the warmth of her embrace and settled into the couch with her, almost laying on top of her to cuddle. She just ran her fingers through his hair, they didn’t say anything to each other, he tried to make as little noise as possible while sobbing. Her red shirt she had been wearing was soaked with his tears. Velora never mentioned his crying when he followed her to the bedroom and demanded to sleep next to her, promising to only hold her hand. She had smiled and told him it was fine if he needed more from her, to take what he needed. No matter if it had been money, time, food or those three DVDs he never returned, his old friend never complained. Velora would just smile and tell him it was okay. Even when Joel would get pissed with Tommy about the direction the company was going in to missing a game or two of Sarah’s (he really tried not to but sometimes the suits at the city were really long winded and insisted on drinks),  Velora would be there in his stead for his niece and tell him play by play as much as she could of the game when she would stop by in the evening. The veteran recalled that the night had been humid, despite the fan running, moisture stuck to their skin. Velora was in her simple thin nightgown and Tommy just wore his boxer-briefs to bed.
Tommy may have took that a few steps too far.
The night began with him holding her hand, that was fine for a time but, then he took her into his arms from behind, drawn to her soft curves that accommodated his taut muscles. The delicate oche tone of her skin glowed within the moonlight. It was when he kissed the back of her neck and his hand went to her breasts that she pulled away from his touch slightly,
“Tommy…don’t play around and go to sleep.” He heard her say, he couldn’t make out the inflection of her voice. His friend’s hips wiggled toward him, his free hand grabbed her hip, pulling it toward him.
“I’m not Sweet Pea. I need to touch you more, just let me, just for tonight.” A growl emerged from his chest, his teeth grazed her shoulder before nipping her lightly. Her gasps encouraged him further, she never said it, but a small smile always came to her lips when Tommy called her that.
“Alright, but just…ah..” Velora wasn’t given a chance to finish her sentence. Her breast was plopped out of her nightgown as his hips grinded into hers. Tommy kept calling her his sweet pea in her ear and she reached a hand back to try and reach his cock, to feel it. “J-Just put a condom on and stick it in…” An order that Tommy wasn’t willing to follow right now, instead he pulled away from her, quickly slipped his boxers off and turned Vel on her back. “W-What are you doing? Why didn’t you just-” The nightgown she had on was over her head, the veteran hovered over her, he knew she would be angry but he would not fuck her the first time. Maybe the second time but not the first. Tommy had already planned other times he may bend her over. He wanted to make love to her in this moment, subsequent encounters could be messy and quick but the younger Miller brother wanted to savor her body as Velora was now, only for him..
“You told me to take what I needed.” His mouth took her erect nipple and large chocolate areola into his mouth, hearing her scream the first time convinced him that this was right. Her hands ran through his then medium length raven hair, tugging on it, his chest pressed into her stomach, sinking in it. The sensation had him grunt onto her nipple, rolling it with his tongue, his legs wrapped around her calf, his length dragging against her leg. Her body continued to writhe under his, his face soon in between her breasts nuzzling the sensitive skin between. Velora was looking down at him, panting, surprise on her face. She hadn’t expected him to fully undress her nor to try to explore her. “Velora,” Tommy paused and peered up at her, “I need all of you, so I’m going to take it all. Are you alright with that Sweet Pea?” He asked, moving upward and settling himself between her wide thighs. He wasn’t going to enter her yet. However, though she did spread her legs for him, Tommy closed her thighs around his waist so he could feel their soft embrace.
“Yes, I told you to take what you need. I didn’t quite expect this way though.” Her digits danced along his bellybutton, then his stomach, not as firm as his military days, but still tight enough to display an ab or two. The pads of her fingers circle his nipples, small but at attention, all for her right now. “You don’t have to be gentle either Tommy. I’m here with you, for you. Just let go.”
“Sweet Pea, I want to be careful with you. You deserve that, always you hear?” Descending, he felt her heartbeat against her chest with his, glad to know he wasn’t the only one feeling like it might burst. “Give me your love Vel.” Lips crashed together, he bit her bottom lip, drawing a sliver of blood. He just said he’d be gentle but it was overwhelming, one of his hands took the back of her head and forced it forward, deepening the kiss, Vel mewled into his mouth and pressed her feet into the mattress to help move her hips forward, she felt the throbbing of Tommy’s cock just above her folds, a hand came between her and the velvet skin. Two fingers parted her lower lips and a squeal was heard when he released her head and it fell on the pillow. “Not yet Vel, gonna eat that dripping pussy.” He meant to use sweet words with her, that’s what she should be hearing, his Sweet Pea. Sliding back down, Tommy hoisted her thighs on his shoulders, giving each a small peck and pulling them so she could only see his hair for a small part of his forehead. When he spoke directly into her mound, he heard her say it,
“Fuck Tommy, make me cum. Sop my pussy up with your mouth!”
The younger Miller brother smacked his lips. “I’m going to have to see how dirty I can get you to talk Sweet Pea.” His nose ran up her slit, taking in her strong scent, he caressed her opening with his plush lips before slipping his tongue inside, rotating his the tip of his oral muscle was causing her cunt to quelch already, he then inserted it centimeter by centimeter , reveling in her screaming his name. His length continued to throb but his goal was to have her climax before entering her. The waves of contractions inside of her canal was constricting his tongue, he longed to have his cock inside of her, to have her continue to cry out his name while he could watch her face unravel. The pressure on the sides of his head increased as her large thighs pressed together in an effort to keep him right where he was, not that Tommy had plans to be anywhere else. His nose tickled her clit and provided a particularly strong clamp down from her. So he set his elbows against the mattress and forced his face against her mound, holding his breath as he used his nose and mouth to make her climax. With alternating curses, calling on the Lord and Tommy’s name, Velora reached her peak, the soldier was able to at least draw his face back a little before suckling on her clit, overloading her body, making it jerk. Tommy managed to inhale deeply, satisfied that his face was soaked with her scent and nectar. He ran two fingers through her cunt and brought them to her mouth. “Suck on them with that loud filthy mouth on yours. Turns out I needed this side of you love.”
Her warm tongue quietly took her own juices from Tommy’s fingers, after they were clean, he got up from the bed and rummaged through his jacket and found a condom. He looked up at Velora who was turned on her side toward him, the easy shine of their affection for one another draped her body. Her curves and stretch marks on full display, ‘she’s mine’ he decided. ‘No one else’s, I’ll make damn sure of it.’ He crouched down next to the bed, meeting her at eye level, “Velora, you’re sure you’re alright with this next part?” He needed to know. They were friends first and foremost and he respected her boundaries, except tonight of course, but he wanted to make sure she was really okay with it. The woman nodded and took his hand in hers.
“Tommy Miller, get in this bed and make love to me. You said you wanted my love. I’m giving it to you. Come to me.” She got up on her knees and held onto the headboard to keep herself from tipping over back onto the bed. “I told you to let go. Just have me. Please.” It was the look she gave him, so permissive and delicate. His arms wrapped around her once more as he kissed her, not deeply just to touch his lips against hers. Their foreheads touched and he met his nose with hers.
“Velora, you’re a hellova woman.” Tommy smirked and laid her back, moving her toward the middle of the bed. He was in between her thighs once again as she opened herself before him. As he rolled the condom on his length, he marveled at her body; wide, tender, subdued and hushed for him, she bit down on her lip to quiet herself, presumably because he had mentioned volume and word choice. Tommy didn’t want her to quiet down now. He wanted her to go hoarse from calling his name, from what he did to her. Leaning forward, he pressed his tip into her folds, releasing himself and using both hands to cup her face, his thick fingers massaging her the top of her jaw, just under her ears, “Look at me Sweet Pea. Open your mouth, I want you to use those lungs.” A short nod from her was all it took, his hips eased forward and back easily for the first few pumps, only going in half way, keeping his eyes locked on hers as she cried out,
“Oh…oh..fuck Tommy, you’re…spreading…me…” Velora whimpered, her thighs began to close again and his hands had to move to keep them open. His rhythm picked up as his elbows made contact with her knees pulling her legs back toward her chest and curling her body for a deeper angle, the pace picked up as he was now diving his cock fully into her flush with her mound and pulling back until only the head of length was inside of her. It was difficult, he could barely speak because her cunt kept sucking back in deeper, the slapping of their skin filled the room. Tommy raised one of her legs and turned his head to bite her calf, then licking it after, tracing his tongue over his teeth marks.
“This pussy is mine Sweet Pea, you won’t fit anyone else Vel. Goddamn you tight as a vice woman…” He murmured into her leg, pounding into her, he felt the pulse of his hardness growing closer to completion. Velora reached for Tommy, her arms stretched outward toward him, he dropped her legs and grabbed her love handles, continuing to roll his hips into hers. His forearms were scratched by her nails, leaving red marks on his olive skin. “Velora, you hear me? This cunt is mine only mine. Say it Sweet Pea.” A command with her pet name. It pushed her over the edge,
“Shit yes, yes yes yes Tommy, my pussy’s just for you. Tommy Ahh!” Her neck flicked back as her walls closed around his heat, he was able to push into her six or seven more times before he released inside of her. The veteran didn’t pull out yet, dropping himself slowly on top of her plush form and ran his nose over her lips that were slightly parted, there was droop at the corner of her mouth, her eyes had tears dotting them, his large hand cupped her cheek against and tipped her face forward so her neck was no longer bent. “T-Tommy…T-Tommy that was…I…” Her quiet words expressed what he couldn’t.
What has he done with his best friend? They’ve crossed a major line. He was worried that when they came out of this, she wouldn’t speak of it, like other insecurities and issues that he had told her about over the years. She never shied away from listening to his thoughts, however intrusive and depressive. But he didn’t want to be this vulnerable with anyone else. Even with other women he dated, there was always a barrier that he put up as far as feelings. They always told him he hid behind his humor and sarcasm. Tommy knew he did, but the one person he was always comfortable with was Velora, was he the same for her? He realized he had never asked, not that she didn’t share her own issues with him, but she didn’t talk about men she dated with him so much. Not that he encouraged it, he never wanted to hear about her dating life, no one would be good enough for his Sweet Pea, was he even good enough for her?
“Valora, rest. I’ll be right back.” A peck from his lips to hers before he slid out of her and got out of the bed. He went to the bathroom to dispose of the condom. Looking in the trash can, he scoffed at the loss, ‘should be inside of..’ before he could finish the thought, he cursed himself. Tommy knew he needed to stop, they hadn’t even had a conversation about what they just did, he was thinking about putting his seed inside of her?! “Fuck, I’m insane…” Shaking his head, he grabbed a washcloth out of her bathroom and returned to the bed, Vel had rolled on her side and was attempting to sit at the side of the bed, “Let me clean you up first, take it easy.” he brushed the back of his hand on the copper toned flesh of her hip. He tapped the washcloth on her thigh as she raised her leg and he held it for her, wiping front to back before tossing it on the dresser, knocking over a lotion bottle or two.
“Tommy, why would you throw it?” She asked, chuckling, ‘thank God, she still laughs. That’s good.’ His eyes went from her face to her slit, despite wiping it down it was still glistening, he licked his lips before setting her leg back down and letting her pull on his shoulder to sit up next to him at the bedside. Velora looked forward for a few minutes before speaking again.
“Did you take all you needed lucky beetle?” She kept turned away from him. “Thanks for cleaning me up Tommy. We should head to…” his hand ran up her spine.
“We’re not doing anything until we talk about this. Vel, I…I want to..” She kissed his cheek and told him words that devastated him.
“This should be between us like always. I won’t ask you for anymore. We’re just- just friends. I hope I was able to help you some. We don’t have to talk about it.” The younger Miller brother remained silent as she wobbled to the bathroom to relieve herself, she closed the door. In his disappointment, he quickly threw his clothes on and dressed, leaving her home and hopping into his truck. A deep wail came from Tommy before he started the engine and drove home, he laid awake and slept through his alarm the following day. Within the week he was off to Ireland to distribute the ashes, he said he would be gone for a week, week and a half tops. He was gone for about three weeks.
Velora’s tears streaked her face in her bathroom. She should have told him that yes, she wanted her cunt to be just his. For him to only be with her and no one else, but she couldn’t. She knew how Tommy gets when he’s sad or frustrated by something he can’t control. That’s when he’d normally find a woman to fuck. She’d used it to her advantage, granted she didn’t think it would happen, it never had before. The woman wore the same nightgown she had before, bland panties, they cuddled like they normally did. He liked to be the big spoon. She knew she shouldn’t have given in, but it was Tommy, her Tommy. She’s known him for more than half her life, tried to date other men but they flat out don’t compare or worse, they actually suck. She couldn’t tell him that it was the first time she had sex fully naked and the lights on, that he asked to see her face and took the time to prep her before entering her. God he used the mouth that she dreamed about on her, just thinking about it now…She should have let him finish. But she was afraid he’d say it first…that it should be another thing between friends. The way she heard him hastily dress and run out of her house told her, she had done to him what men had done to her in the past: dismissed his feelings.
In the time he was gone Sweet Pea tried to go on dates, but she couldn’t stand the touch of another man, even from a side hug she flinched. Whoever said the best way to get over a man is by getting under a new one was wrong. She can’t even be near a new one.
Two days before arriving home…
Joel had spoken to Tommy two days before the latter’s flight home, asking what the hell he did to make V go on so many dates. Tommy was curious how his brother knew the information given that he didn’t think they spoke about subjects like that. Joel said that he heard it from Tess, Joel’s off and on again, whatever she was. That was an entire bag of worms he wasn’t getting into. At least his relationship with Velora wasn’t like that…but it could be. They started out as friends and now those two assholes can’t be in the same room without eye-fucking each other or cursing up a storm. Tommy explained that they had a miscommunication when he last spoke to her and that’s why they were unusually curt with each other on the phone. Joel gave it some thought, sure he was closer to forty-five than forty, but nah, Tommy wouldn’t have right? Not with…
“Tommy you didn’t sleep with V did you? Tell me you didn’t.” Tommy could hear Joel’s head droop. Damn him and using the same disappointing voice he uses when Sarah talks a bit too much trash at soccer and makes one of the girls on the other teams cry.
“We sleep over each other’s homes fairly often after we hang out. I told you, it’s just..”
“Goddammit Tommy! You can’t do that shit, especially not to her. You know you can’t cut her out of your life like you do other women. I told you this shit would come back to bite you in your ass like a snake in a hole.” His older brother's condemnation of his actions past and present made Tommy suck his teeth.
“This from the guy who keeps holding on to a woman who only uses him for a few good times and disappears for months at a time. Fuck, she’s one who told me we’re not going to talk about it. Still be friends. What the hell else was I supposed to do? I took some extra time, what’s wrong with that?”
“The difference is I know what my relationship with Tess is, you asshole. You slept with a woman who’s been there for you through all your shit. I know you made it about you. It wasn’t about her at all, was it?”
Silence…his brother had him there. At the time, it hadn’t been about her, he even used the fact that she said he could use her however he wanted to do exactly that. Tommy exhaled.
“Then what the hell am I supposed to do now? I’ve already blown everything to shit. She’s doing the same thing I would, getting out there and meeting some guys. Why’d you have to tell me you asshole? I fuckin’ hate it…she’s out with some bastard who won’t even….”
“Eh, I don’t need details of what ya’ll did. And it’s not really going that well. She told Tess that she freaks out when the guys try to touch her, even holding her hand. It’s all for show, guess trying to prove something to herself. Both of ya are a damn pair.” Joel chuckled on the line, the first time during their conversation. Tommy followed suit and a low rumble of laughter.
“We’re two people who make shitty ass decisions. Just, see if Tess can get her to hold off ‘till I come home. I know her, it’s only making things worse and she’s going to be in head about it. All of it.”
“Yeah, on that same token little brother, get your head out of your ass and talk to the woman. Velora deserves that much at least. You’ll have to get her to listen tho’. I don’t think she’ll be keen on ya right now.”
“Shut up and just pick me up at the airport in a few days. Bring Sarah, I miss my cute niece.”
“Don’t tell me to shut up and then mention my daughter. I shouldn’t bring her just to spite ya. But she wants to ses you too. Loves your stupid ass. I guess you’re a’right at times Tommy. Take care, I gotta go to bed.”
“Lucky you. You can sleep. I’m just awake for no damn reason. You aren’t the worst big brother. See you in a few days.”
The brothers smiled as they ended their calls. Joel trotted upstairs and kissed Sarah goodnight as she was already in bed. She stirred slightly and a smile formed on her face at her father’s warmth. One of the few times Joel didn’t look like he was completely over everything was whenever he gazed upon his daughter, his only light.
It was 3:15 am where Tommy was packing up most of clothes, he had brought a backpack and a duffle bag that was significantly lighter now that the two urns weren’t in it, plus he wouldn’t need to check his bags this time so he might get through their airport quicker and get home. He went out into the cold night air with his coat on, hands in his pockets and hair tied back. The puffs of hot hair leaving his nose made him chuckle, he thought of her again, hoping that she hadn’t had too many dates in his absence but some to make her feel better. He didn’t want them to have gone well of course, but if she has the dates that’s fine. Joel wasn’t wrong, he did need to speak to her when he got back, he just had no clue what to say.
Sorry for fucking you? Sorry for telling you that I don’t want anyone else to see you like this? That I’m especially sorry for not doing this years ago when I first realized that my feelings for you went deeper than that of a friend and maybe sabotaged some of your dates, sent messages from your phone and comforted you when the guys of course stopped communicating with you. Thankfully I only did that a few times before you caught me and told me to just tell you if I thought a guy was trash. I brushed you off because I would tell you they were all trash, but I knew I was garbage too because I was still fucking around, so i couldn’t tell you that. I didn’t have the right. Actually, that might be why you said what you did that night, you knew I didn’t have the right to you. I used you once again and why should I feel like I’m entitled to more? Just because of how you said my name, how you seemed surprised when I wanted to see you and hold you, how good you felt in my arms, how happy I am when I’m in yours…I’ve really screwed the pooch on this one.
The short walk and the cold air gave Tommy pause as he found himself at the same rocky outcrop that he had spread the ashes over. “Had I asked, you would have come with me. I should have just asked…I have to tell you sorry in person, Sweet Pea.” The stars were hanging in the sky, twinkling at the haunted man. He began slowly back to his cabin and was finally able to sleep, there was no one to hold him when he shed his tears that night.
Velora had tears of a different nature, she was able to finally kiss one of her dates, it was a fair kiss, definitely not like her one with Tommy. She compared him with everyone now that she had a taste of him. Her date suggested that they go back to his place to which she declined, there was no spark, no longing, no anticipation. The man was good looking, could put sentences together, paid for dinner, seemed nice, no real reason to not try him out except he wasn’t Tommy Miller. He didn’t have his dark hair, deep brown eyes, that goofy looking mustache that tickled her tummy, his cinnamon skin or velvet voice. This man was none of those things and it wasn’t his fault. It was hers for agreeing to this date. Vel’s friends were proud of her for getting out there and exploring her options, but she was going through the motions, no matter if it was work, helping out Joel and Sarah or just moping at home, it was all hollow. The man walked her to her car, to which she thanked him for the date and drove home.
Once home, she hopped in the shower and wash the date away, scrubbing her inner thighs especially as he had tried to finger under the table, but seemed to have difficulty navigating her large thighs, she couldn’t tell if he just hadn’t been with a larger woman or was out of practice in general. Velora got out of the shower, dried off and brushed her teeth, using extra mouthwash, she didn’t want to taste that man at all.
Sitting on the bed, she looked at herself in the mirror, wrapped in her towel. This was the room she was taken by Tommy or more apt, she offered herself to him. Happily. The circles under her eyes were darker and she chuckled, it’s not the first time she had cried over Tommy Miller, but it was usually because he had done something stupid and not the other way around. It was enough to keep that man in a place that would freeze a witch’s tit an extra week and a half.
He may have told me that he wanted to be friends with benefits or maybe that he actually had feelings for me, but I didn’t let him talk. These men aren’t Tommy and it’s not their fault. I should have told him years ago but I didn’t want to lose him as a friend. Tommy, Joel and Sarah are family and I just couldn't…I still may lose them anyway. I shouldn’t have told Tess why I was crying and dating. She likely told Joel and…would he know? Is that why Tommy hasn’t come back yet? My head hurts. I feel like shit. Tommy’s the only one that looked at me like that, he touched me from head to toe and told me that I was only his. It was likely just dirty talk but still, it was nice to hear. Pfft, just nice? It was what I’ve always wanted to hear. I just didn’t want to be second anymore…Second to his grief, to his anger, pain and second to whoever the flavor of the month was. I’m tired of being second, I want to be first.
Vel laid across her bed and started at the ceiling, her tears were steady and she gave up trying to wipe them away. She woke up the next morning with a stuffy nose from not covering herself properly before sleeping.
“Fuck, even my nose is tired of my shit…”
The day Tommy gets home…
Tommy arrived at the airport around seven in the evening, he was almost home. He had called Joel to pick him up, the uncle was excited to see his little niece as his brother said he would bring her. Normally he would call Vel but he couldn’t see her yet. Sarah and Joel greeted him warmly in the drop off area and helped him lay his bags in the truck. The brother chatted about how business had been and Sarah chimed in about soccer and school. The bright young teen did have something important to share.
“So Dad, we’re going to have pizza tonight right? Since Uncle Tommy’s back.”
“Yeah pumpkin I told you we would.” Joel sounded puzzled, unsure why his daughter was confirming plans they had already discussed. Tommy did not like the sound of this, it’s never good if Joel is surprised. He knew his brother stayed prepared.
“I invited Aunt V to eat pizza with us, you got three pizzas right?” Tommy glared at Joel who kept his eyes on the road. His daughter may be in cahoots with Tess, which surprised him because he didn’t think Sarah liked the woman. He foresaw major issues going forward.
“I ordered three because I thought it was going to be the four of us. You didn’t mention Vel.” The older Miller brother said slowly, he needed Tommy to know this was not his idea, and frankly he didn’t want the clusterfuck this was going to be, to be in his house.
“Well, Aunt V has been kinda down lately, hasn’t she Uncle Tommy?” Sarah leaned forward in her seat and patted Tommy's shoulder. He couldn’t lie to his only niece, but he also was not going to speak about his love life to a fourteen year old.
“I’ve been away Peanut so I wouldn’t know. Has she now? We should cheer her up.” Tommy bit his lips, and rocked forward, Joel knew those motions were, he was self-soothing. He was so pissed, but couldn’t say anything because he would sooner die then show Sarah anything other than her sweet uncle. Joel knew this was going to be a problem when they were alone.
“Baby girl, you are so loved.” is all Joel managed to say before cutting on the radio.
Tess was at Joel’s house paying the pizza man and Velora was sitting on the couch. Tess was humming, this woman they all maybe saw three months total out of the year. It was weird, but Joel loved it so Vel figured she would just keep her trap shut. She shouldn’t speak about anyone’s relationship since she had mucked hers up with Tommy. Though a part of her wanted to look nice for him, so she ended up pinning her hair up, exposing her neck and wearing an olive green three-fourth sleeve shirt dress, she also may have left the top button open so she had a bit of cleavage showing but not too much. Sarah was going to be there after all. Vel also made sure to put on her favorite lotion from Bath & Body Works, ‘into the night.’ Maybe she was hoping for something to happen, at the very least, she wanted to be able to talk to him, likely not about the last time they saw each other but at least be civil.
The door opened and Sarah burst in, hugging Vel and snuggling into her, commenting on how good she smelled, Joel carried a bag of Tommy’s and hugged Tess, giving her a kiss on the cheek. That’s when Vel lost her breath, Tommy Miller strode through the doorway and set his backpack on the floor, nodding toward Tess. His eyes met Vel’s and he went to speak as she did , but nothing came from either of them. It looked like Sarah was going to say something but Joel suggested that they eat before the pizza gets cold. Everyone ate and listened to Tommy’s trip and embellished stories, Vel soaked up his laughter and smile, wondering how she would feel if he were to tell her he didn’t want to speak to her again, as he did other women. She was going through the motions again as Joel carted Sarah off to bed before long, she had fallen asleep across Velora’s lap. A place Tommy wanted to be. She looked beautiful, the earth tone dress looked gorgeous on her. It was then that he was surprised, Tess offered Vel a ride home. Apparently, a car ran a stop sign and rear ended her. She hadn’t been injured but her car was in the shop for repairs. Joel and Tess had been giving her rides from home to work. Tommy saw an opportunity. He had left his truck at Joel’s so he could drive home once he made it to their house after the airport.
“I can drive you home Sweet Pea.” He stated quietly, setting a hand on her shoulder, he stepped in between Tess and where Vel was sitting. Tess was about to interject but Joel shook his head, signaling to let them be. Velora nodded.
“Sure, thanks Tommy.” With that, she stood and thanked Tess for the offer giving her and Joel hugs before slipping her flip flops on and heading out with Tommy. He opened the truck door for her and she climbed in, he took special care to take a gander at her legs which the moonlight was reflecting off their well moisturized sheen. Tommy then got in the truck and started driving.
“Tommy…I-I’m sor…”
“Leave it for when we get to your place. We need to sit and talk face to face.” The grave tone he used worried her, was this really happening? Was she going to lose her best friend over the best sex she had?
Once at her home, she opened the door and Tommy locked it after they got in, Velora set to opening a bottle of whiskey and pouring them both glasses with one cube of ice each. She sat next to Tommy on the couch and slowly sipped on her drink, clicking her nails on the glass. Tommy took a large swig and set his on the coffee table, taking hers and placing that on the table as well.
“Velora, I need you to listen to me. Don’t say anything yet.”
“T-Tommy, just you’re not going to leave right? Just forget it. Just don’t tell me to go away.” His eyes widened, that wasn’t what he expected. He placed a hand on her thigh and squeezed to try and calm her, but that only made her jump. “I know I shouldn’t have, honestly you’d never taken me up on it before. I wanted to see how far you were going to go, I didn’t expect…not that i didn’t enjoy it, but if it means we can’t be friends then, I’ll forget about it.” Her speech was pressured and rapid, eyes wild and darting around, when she did focus on Tommy’s face, he saw that she was frightened.
“Sweet Pea…Just give me a…” Tommy tried to cut her off to explain but she kept going.
“You can’t call me that anymore. You can’t say it like that. Sweet Pea, it makes me wet each time and I can’t, I can’t Tommy Miller! We’re friends, you can’t call me that, not after…” The tears that she had been avoiding since she saw him walk though Joel’s doorway broke through, it was Tommy’s turn to hold her and to console. It was then he realized he wasn’t the only one that had been having feelings over the years. How long had she been in love with him? How long had he been hurting her? How long had they been hurting each other?
“Velora I don’t want to be just your friend. I feel the same way. Honey please…” Tommy whispered as he brought her close, her tears were wetting his shirt, but it was fine by him. He just needed to make her understand that he didn’t want to share her. But he also thought maybe he shouldn’t undress her this time.
After some time, she stopped just embracing her, small hands wrapped around his back, pressing on his shoulder blades. They were quiet except for a few sniffles. Vel leaned back and kissed Tommy’s cheek, her face puffy from her waterworks,
“I’m sorry I didn't let you talk, well this time and especially the last time. I just wanted to avoid talking about it. I couldn’t handle you telling me it didn’t mean anything.”
“Velora. That’s not anything I would ever say to you. And it wasn’t what I was going to say the other night either. I planned to tell you that I don’t speak like that to anyone, even during sex and that I didn’t want you seeing anyone else. I don’t want to see anyone else. Vel…I…” Tommy was cut off by her lips, not forceful but clearly to quiet him again, he cupped her face and leaned into the kiss, letting out a small moan. He did let her go after he licked her bottom lip and she didn’t allow him in. Not that type of kiss he figured.
“Just a little at a time Lucky Beetle. Please a little at a time. You just told me something major, I can’t have you say that I love you right now too. I know you like to get things all out in the open but just let me sit in it a bit.” The explanation made sense to him, in his haste to share his feelings, he forgot that she needs things in pieces, slowly. It’s why he loved talking to her because she could help him see things part by part, but that was clearly different in a relationship aspect. Her hands raised to play with his hair, then ran along his cheeks and poked his mustache. “It’s not that I don’t want to hear it, but I just need time. It won’t be too much. I promise.” He nodded, accepting her proposal.
“Should we get you cleaned up? Your face looks a mess Sweet Pea. Er, not that…” The woman let out a bellowing laugh, it was a sound that he was elated to hear. He hadn’t heard it for weeks and the last time he did, was one of his highest and  lowest points.
“Yeah, I know I look a mess.” She stood up and patted his shoulder for him to follow her to the bedroom. “Tommy, I should tell you, or rather I don't know if you already heard from Joel, I have been on dates since you were away. A few…” A drawer opened and she got out a pair of boxer briefs and a t-shirt for him. Tommy had his own drawer at her house and she did at his, they had for years. “Like four dates,” She turned to face him, but kept her eyes to the ground, still she felt she needed to be honest. “None of them panned out. They weren’t you, I compared them all to you. Even the last one…” Her arms crossed over to stomach as she held her elbows, Tommy could fill in the gaps but he still needed to know.
“How far did you go with him?” He asked flatly. He readied himself for the potential answer that she may have slept with someone, it’s not like he hadn’t done the same thing in the past, though while he was away he didn’t think to. The vet hadn’t expected Velora to take a page from his playbook as far as fucking away feelings.
“Kissing and he tried to…well not that he could find what he was trying to finger. It’s not like mine’s in a different place than a smaller woman’s, you just have to go a little deeper.” Her eyes rolled as she complained and Tommy chuckled, it was entertaining  hearing her mock another man and gave him a sense of pride.
“Sounds like you had a tough go of it hun.” He placed his hands on his hips, his mustache continued to dance above his upper lip as she continued to chuckle. Velora shook her head and threw the clothes at him, which he caught. “Thanks for telling me though, you're honest to a fault.”
“Shut up Miller. I’m going to shower first.” A small smirk greeted her lips as she grabbed her own nightshirt and panties before heading into the bathroom. Tommy set his clothes on the bed and went back into the living room to finish his whiskey. They felt more normal, like themselves. It was good, but he didn’t want it to stay like this. How else was it supposed to feel?
Velora took a quick shower and brushed her teeth, remembering the glass of whiskey she had and that mint likely wouldn’t taste good with it. She tossed her worn clothes in the hamper and found Tommy sitting on the couch, looking at his empty glass. “Did you want mine too? It doesn’t go well with colgate.” Tommy shook his head and downed her glass as well before heading into the bedroom and stripping, then into the shower. When he came back out, he put his clothes in a small pile in the corner of the room out of the way. The pair sat on the bed next to each other.
“So…”
“So…what do we do now?”
“We should sleep, talk more about things with fresh minds.”
“Did you want to go get breakfast tomorrow?”
“Sure, though I should probably check in with Joel to see if he needs help at the office.”
“It can wait until the next day, he’s actually doing better. Tess convinced him to go to a pain clinic.”
“Really? He left that part out when he was updating me. Old man with a sore back.”
Velora climbed up in the bed and slid under the covers, Tommy watched her and wondered if he could really sleep in the same bed as her without touching her. He should be able to, he has self-control. He followed suit and slipped under the covers as well, turning on his side away from her. If he faced her, he would feel tempted to touch her and after they had a positive conversation the last thing he needed to do was compromise that again.
Turned out it was not up to Tommy Miller whether things were going to happen or not.
Velora became the big spoon to Tommy’s little spoon and that was fine until the sun started to shine through the curtains of her bedroom window. Tommy rolled over on his back and Vel’s leg wrapped around his slim waist. That would be fine, if his hips hadn’t shifted up slightly and a familiar bulge touched her inner thigh. Exhaling, she opened her eyes to see if he was awake, he was not, his breathing still steady and his face in a neutral position. Her finger started to circle his dark nipple, she sank her body weight on top of his abdomen and rested her forehead on his chest, her soft digits inched along both sides of his clavicle. “Fucking delicious menance Tommy.” Vel hummed into his chest, sturdy hands took hold of her hips.
“Am I now? Right back at ya Sweet Pea. I thought I was having a damn good dream. Looks like wakin’ up is even better. Didn’t know you were such a vixen.” A low hum emerged from Tommy’s lips and he sat up, holding her over his hips. “Don’t move, you’re ridin’ me this mornin’ Sweet Pea.” His eyes had a soft glow to them, placing his lips over hers before she could protest, he knew what she’d say, to lay her back down because she was too heavy, but he didn’t want to, He wanted to watch as she bounced on top. Her hands moved from his chest to his shoulders, grasping tight, unsure how much pressure to put on him. Tommy, released her hips to slide his boxers down, unleashing his swollen member from the cloth confines. He then slid her thin wet panties aside to touch her puffy lower lips, a long moan was released from Vel as the mixture of cool air and warm callused fingers entering her, made her squirm. “Sweet Pea, you’re ready for me this morning aren’t ya? Fuck Vel, we wasted too much time. I could have had a ring on your finger and Sarah could have a cousin or two.” Her eyes shot open, did he just…? She pulled back, making her ass press against his thick cock, a gasp escaped from his mouth.
“Tommy, d-did you just…what?”
“I don’t say things I don’t mean Velora. You don’t want me to say three words fine. I know many a way to tell you the same damn thing woman.”
“Well you wanna try this morning?” Her suggestion made him kiss her neck, licking it as his fingers pumped inside of her slowly. “T-Tommy, give me your…”
“My what Sweet Pea? I’ll have to be careful where I call you Sweet Pea. I can’t have you gettin’ this wet at a cookout.” He smiled into her neck, before biting it. One of Vel’s hands grasped the back of his head, tugging it toward her neck.
“Fuck Tommy. Your cock. I want your cock. I’ll make a baby with you. Give it to me.” She yelped as his fingers started to move faster, her nectar dripping down his palm.
“Not yet, I have to show you who can find your pussy with these fingers.” His mouth left her neck and found her lips again, biting her lower lip as she moaned his name. He could watch her like this for the next hour, maybe hours.
“Don’t be an ass about it Tommy.” Her hips were moving faster, her hands came back to his shoulders as she began moving up and down instead of in a circle.
“Look at you, quick study like always Sweet Pea. Be my angel and soak my fingers.” Tommy commanded, curing his head to nipple at the top of her breast. He felt her squeezing his fingers, then the flood of her slick down his wrist as he slowed down his fingers to match her body’s release and subsequent decrescendo. She sat panting on his lap, her eyes heavy as she met his dark brown orbs again. “Velora, you’re sure I can cum inside you? We still have a shit ton to talk about.” He saw her nod but needed her to speak to him so he didn’t move.
“Tommy, I’ve dreamt of you getting me pregnant and raising a family with you. We’ll work out the details later. It may not even happen this go around. We’ll have plenty of other times to practice. I love you Tommy Miller. I want to make a home with you and a family.” Velora kissed Tommy’s forehead and reached behind her ass, taking his hot member in her hand, teasing his head, “I too am not going to let anyone else have this cock if I have anything to say about it.”
Tommy wondered why he hadn’t seen it, how he could have been so blind, but that moment passed, “Did you have me not tell you I love you so you could say it first?” Vel chuckled as her small hand stroked his cock, “You’re my petty ass vixen angel and I love you. Take off that gown. We don’t fuck clothes in this house.” A beamng chuckle was shared between them as she removed her gown and tossed it on the floor and Tommy assisted her in lifting up to remove her panties, he then shimmied his boxers off and he sat her right back in his lap. “Ready Velora? I’ll ease you in slow.”
Velora’s hand guided Tommy’s cock to her soaked folds, slipping inside of her easier than she thought, though she didn’t expect her hips to slam flush with his. She let out a loud whimper from the expansion inside of her, the pulsing heat, the grimace disappearing from his face once he was inside of her, she remained still to adjust and was unsure if she should move, it felt as if he was piercing her womb and stomach. It felt like they were finally in the right place and the right time with each other. But she wanted more, she would take from him until he had nothing left to offer her, He hadn’t said a word until she pulled on his shoulders and pressed her feet into the bed to move up, only making it where half of his cock was still inside of her. “Tommy, I don’t think I’m going to be able to do this too long, damn…did you get bigger while in Ireland?”
Tommy still didn’t answer, he was focusing on not shooting his load into her after she sat her full weight on him. Velora was able to take all of him in one stroke, a feat that hadn’t been performed by any other woman he had been with. Now with her moving, he was twitching even more and it felt as if the wrong move or loss of concentration would have him prematurely released. However, when she commented about his size, his eyes open to see the woman that he loved struggling to ride him, it was breathtakingly slow, the perfect pace to make him last longer. “Sweet Pea, I’m gonna be rough for a few, you’re doing the Lord’s work up there. Need to know how it feels to fill you to the brim with my seed Velora.” Bewildered, Vel’s mouth formed an ‘o’ as he began, taking ownership of her hips and forcing his upward into her, she truly started to spring off his member, leaving only his bulbous head inside of her before bringing her back down so his balls smacked her ass.
“Goddamit Tommy! I’m gonna break, Ah…Tom-Tommy..” Her voice cracked as she screamed, one hand dug into his shoulder, her nails drawing blood from his skin as her other hand cemented itself at the base of his skull. Her back was already arching, she was trying to stop her walls from sputtering, to draw this sensation out, him making her and her cunt cry for him. Miller’s grunts increased with his pace, his goal was to stuff her with his cum and he would succeed this morning. His mouth found her round shoulder, her light stretch marks broke though the rest of her brown skin, he started licking them, but felt his teeth start to dig into the soft flesh. “Ah..chew baby, Bite me Tommy..!” She continued to call his name, it was a ballad leading to their mutual end. Velora came first, her nails, raking across his back and head as her cunt attempted to milk his cock of its contents. Tommy was able to get in a few more pumps before he felt it, finally, thick ropes coated her walls as he moaned her name into her shoulder, tasting something metallic on his lips. They remained still, regaining air in their lungs, Tommy fell on his back with Vel on top of him, her breasts landing on either side of his head as her chest fell on his face.. He tilted his chin up and landed a string of kisses in between and on the tops of her breasts. She hummed as she stroked his hair, feeling him soften and start to slip out of her stretched pussy. Thankfully, only halfway.
“Velora, you alright honey? Didn’t break I see. You’re too strong of a woman for that.” His familiar glow returned to his face as she looked down at him and nodded.
“I’m better than I thought I would be. You might be the death of me yet Tommy. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to just relax again.” Her bubbly sounds had Tommy trace his hands along her love handles and back.
“If anything, I’ll go first. You started it this morning, remember?” He reminded her as she raised up off his flaccid cock and plopped beside him and he pulled the covers over the both of them. His hands returned to her waist as she nuzzled in the crook of his neck. “We’ll have to check our injuries later, let’s get some sleep. I love you Velora.”
“I love you too Tommy.” The two found sleep in each other's arms for the time being.
The next morning…
A series of loud knocks was at Velora’s front door.
Sarah had been adamant about seeing her uncle Tommy. Joel and Tess tried to assure her that he’s fine, he’s resting up from his long flight, which might be true though Joel doubted it. The fact remind that he did leave his bags at his place from when he drove Velora home last night. Sarah was worried that Tommy may not be happy with Aunt V going out on dates and he could have argued with her and might be moping around his house. It was plausible and Tess found it convenient to need to drive into town for a meeting or two, which she did not have to do before this conversation started.
“You shoulda never told a child about grown folks business.. Tess.”
“Sarah’s a teen, not an idiot. She knows things have been weird with them. Plus she overheard Vel and I talking, I didn’t tell her anything.”
“And now you have to go? After you start some shit?”
“They were meetings I thought were pushed back and now the parties want to meet. It’s annoying and horrible timing but -”
“Seems like good timing for you.”
“Joel, don’t start that shit again. You always do this get mad at me and then-”
“And then you leave and stay gone, not talking to me for weeks or months at a time. Would it kill you to be consistent Tess? Lord knows I am.”
Tess held up her hands, done with the conversation for now. She headed for the door. “Joel, I’ll be back later tonight. Take that time to calm down so we can talk like two adults.”
Joel crossed his arms and looked at the ceiling. He felt small arms wrap around him. “Dad, why don’t you just talk to her instead of picking a fight?” The older Miller brother kissed his daughter’s forehead and smiled.
“Your old man’s stubborn as a mule baby girl. I gotta be right, even if it kills me.”
“We’re going to take uncle Tommy’s stuff by his house right? I want to show him my new trophy. I fell asleep before I could show him last night. Joel couldn’t say no even though he was fairly certain his brother wouldn’t be home. Gathering Tommy’s junk, he threw it in his truck and drove over to the house. His brother’s truck was absent from the driveway so since he had a key he dropped off the bags inside. Sarah still insisted on seeing him so he drove to Velora’s where now he was knocking on the door.
When there was no answer, he turned to his daughter who shocked him once again,
“You think they’re going to be friends with benefits or actually date? But they know each other pretty well so maybe not for long. I’m going to be a bridesmaid or the maid of honor.”
“Sarah honey, that’s putting the cart before the horse baby girl.”
“Dad. I’m fourteen. I know these things.”
“Where did my sweet girl go? I don’t want you to know these things.”
Tommy climbed out of bed first, he heard chatter outside the door so he figured he had some time. He relieved himself in the bathroom and grabbed a warm rag for Vel, cleaning between her legs. He couldn’t help but use two fingers to push some of his cum that had leaked out back in, that made her flinch and wake up. “Good morning Sweet Pea, better late than never. Fell asleep before I could clean ya. Someone’s at the door. Goin’ to tell them to kick rocks.” She nodded and rolled over toward the nightstand to check the time, two in the afternoon? It was pretty late.
Tommy popped his jeans on and didn’t worry about boxers. The cold floor felt good under his bare feet as he walked to the door, now on the other side, he heard two voices that he didn’t want to see right this minute. “Welp, it was going to happen sooner or later.” He unlocked the door and swing it open,
“Afternoon brother, little Peanut.” Joel noted Tommy’s messy hair that was sticking all over the place and that he seemed to have some bruises on his abdomen. Dammit, really? My daughter has to see you like this…
“Hey little brother. We took your crap to your house. You good? Your hair is a little…” Joel studdered, first Tess and now Tommy, why were the adults he knew so damn bothersome and exposing his sweet daughter to things she shouldn’t know until she’s his age, scratch that, he needs to be cold in the ground before Sarah even thinks about, such things.
“Uncle Tommy, is Aunt V alright? If you look like that, what does she look like? Did you put a hurt on her?” The youngest Miller asked with a head tilt. Both men remained silent. Joel was the one now with his arms crossed and rocking between his heels and the balls of his feet.
“She’s taking a bit of a nap right now, Peanut. I can stop by the house later-”
“I'm alright, You should maybe go get freshened up though Tommy.” Velora walked up behind Tommy in a loose gray t-shirt and black leggings and tugged on the waist of his jeans to signal he should head back inside. Vel stood in the doorway and gave a stern look to Sarah before bursting into laughter. “You’re a firecracker young lady. You’re going to give both your father and uncle heart attacks. Please let your father hold onto his dream that you’re still his baby girl.”
Sarah stepped forward and gave her aunt a hug, patting her back and niggling into her. She whispered, “Aunt V, you look a lot happier. Both Dad and Uncle Tommy can be kinda dumb so don’t be too mad at him.” Vel chuckled and patted the teen’s head,
“I won’t. I promise. All adults are dumb at times, Peanut. It’s our claim to fame. I love you, you little scamp.” She kissed her forehead and let her go, Joel nodded and he headed back to the truck and left with Sarah. Asking her questions about what she knew about ‘putting a hurt on someone’ and where she had heard it. He didn’t really want to know, he just needed to identify whose knees he needed to break for telling his daughter this information.
Tommy was in the shower, using Velora’s green tea and jasmine body wash. It smelled nice on her, he wasn’t much for smelling like a flower, but he did need to be clean. He was lathering his chest when his Sweet Pea entered the shower naked and put her hand over his, helping him to lather himself. He chuckled at her eagerness to touch him, he was planning on initiating later but he wasn’t opposed to having a bit of slippery fun. He reached beyond the shower curtain and grabbed a second washcloth, the basket they had been neatly folded in fell over, but that could be tidied later. Tommy was quick to wet it and turned around, nearly falling back against the shower wall at Vel’s hair in her hot pink shower cap. Her lips pinched together as she pushed slightly on his chest to signal she was not amused.
“Sweet Pea, you can’t tell me that’s not funny though. It had to be that neon, bright ass pink?” He cackled in between her soft hits with the soapy washcloth.
“Dammit Tommy, you know I can’t get my hair wet unless I plan to wash it and do that whole process. Stop laughing..ha, ha.” The woman started giggling along with him, the pair of them laughing until they wheezed.
Tommy took his washcloth and ran it over Velora’s shoulders and took special care under her arms. He rung the washcloth out over her breasts and added more of the body wash to make the lather thicker before circling around each breast, carefully lifting them from their lowered position. Velora continued to drag her washcloth across his chest, then around to his back until she lowered it just before reaching his butt. She then brought it back to the front and wiped up and down on his abdomen eliciting a few more chuckles from the mustached man. Tommy started in the middle of her stomach and branched out with larger strokes before starting on her back. He then paused,
“So how do you want to take care of below the waist?”
“I think we should each do our own, I don’t trust you not to start fingering me and I don’t want soap in my pussy.”
“You know me so well Sweet Pea.” He answered with a smirk and made sure to clean his cock and balls well and ended with his ass as Vel did the same. They rinsed off and Vel stepped out of the shower first to set a few towels on the floor to soak up the water she was dripping and to grab two towels, one for each of them. After drying off, Vel put on the same t-shirt and black capris she had on before, they had been fresh out of the drawer so she didn’t mind putting the back on. Tommy slipped on a pair of gray sweatpants and a white t-shirt from his drawer in Velora’s bedroom. Tommy headed to the kitchen to start some coffee and make some brunch. He found eggs, onions, peppers, cheese and toasted some bread with some apple butter. Velora was finishing up the bathroom when she smelled his cooking, her mother told her not to trust a man who can cook when she was younger, but Vel found it to be one of the many sexy qualities Tommy had, among others that she could put her hands on now.
She walked out to her small kitchen and got some plates and glasses down to get the table. It could fit four people comfortably though it was on the smaller side, with just the two of them, it was just the right size. Tommy dished up the food, he made three pieces of toast for each of them, after he set the frying pan in the sink and ran some water in it, they sat down to eat, in silence for the first few bites.
“So…should we talk about things or…?”
“I mean we can. I guess we should start with whose house we’re gonna live in. Yours is on the smaller side Vel. makes sense since it’s just you living here, but…”
“No I mean, about before. We moved things pretty fast and you never told me about how your trip went with, well what you were going to do, though we weren’t really speaking at the time.” Velora moved a piece of her omelet around on her plate as she bit into her toast.
Sitting back in his chair, Tommy crossed his arms and sighed, “Do we really need to talk about it? I went, took care of my guys’ ashes and came back. Yeah I was gone longer, but I needed time to think. I couldn’t do that…”
“While you were here. While you may have to face me, is that it?” She asked, looking up from her plate. He rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“What about you? While I was gone, you’re out here setting up dates left and right. I know that was your one friend who doesn't think I’m shit who told you to do that and you did it! I had to hear it from Joel of all people. That was weird as shit.” he shook his head, recalling the conversation, it had been unnerving.
Velora took a deep breath, “I told you about it when you came back and we finally talked before and we…I was honest about it. I didn’t need to hide, I came to fucking Joel’s house with all that damn pizza and listening to tess talking about meetings and travel! I didn’t want to go, seeing you…it, I was happy to know that you were okay, but I felt guilty and hurt Tommy.” Her eyes never parted from his, the intensity of them caused him to look away, but the veteran was drawn right back.
“I know. I was in shock when Sarah mentioned on the drive home that you were going to be there. I honestly didn’t think you would want to see me, given how I reacted when you said what you said after we made love. You can say it, you know Velora. We’ve made love twice now.” Tommy grinned, trying to lighten things up a bit, but to no avail.
“I know I told you that I needed time.” Velora paused to try and figure out her phrasing. Tommy titled his head, trying to anticipate what she may say, he hoped it wasn’t that they should see how things go. He was serious about moving their relationship forward. “I’d rather we talked about things and made some future plans. We skipped ahead on the babymaking front. I didn’t think I’d…well I knew I wanted to but…” Her cheeks were becoming hot once again, having a child with her best friend and crush Tommy Miller had been a fantasy. Now she may have actually done it without dating, marriage, deciding where they’re going to live, none of that. It made her giddy that he wanted to see her pregnant and have a child with her, but what would come with it? Was she prepared for that?
“Velora, well I won’t say relax because we’re needing to make some major decisions.” Tommy rose from his chair and stood behind Vel, placing one hand on each shoulder and kissed her temple. She took a few sips of water for her throat that was painfully dry now.  “One step at a time honey. It’s alright we don’t know right now. We just started this together. Plus we gotta move you into my house, this kitchen’s too damn small and I got room in my master bath to expand the shower.” Vel coughed on the water, setting an elbow on the table before cradling her forehead in it.
“Lord above you really are trying to kill me Miller.” Their expressions of joy echoed through the small kitchen as they continued their meal and bikered about whose house should be sold, which mattress should be in the master bedroom and who has the better office.
Six months later…
Velora plops another rose near the mailbox. She already had brought three over from the back of Tommy’s truck. She had borrowed it to drive to the florist to pick up her order that she had placed last week. Set on adding more color to the front yard, she had added yellow tulips near the large front window that was off of the living room. Red was what she wanted on the corner around the mailbox. She took to gardening well, finding it was calming in addition to decorating her new home. She and Tommy had closed on her small home last month and were able to make a sizable profit from it. Due to the time constraints though, she sold much of her furniture except what was left to stage the house. Tommy, Joel and Sarah had helped moved her items into Tommy’s larger house. Velora had fussed about it, but she knew it was the right choice, moving into his house. It was her first house though, she remembered when Tommy had helped her move in.
Standing up from her leaning over position, she felt light-headed and had to lean on the mailbox, thankfully it was sturdy and she was quickly able to regain her balance. Her head swam for a minute but then calmed. It was happening more frequently and it worried her. Tommy had asked her to cut back on her hours at work, go to part time at the hospital. She was stubborn and refused, stating that it happened from time to time, she was fine, it would pass. It’s been two months of symptoms off and on again. What really worried her was her tender breasts and back pain. They didn’t seem connected and both had been happening since she hit puberty decades ago. She didn’t mention it to Tommy though, didn't want to worry him. Heading back inside the house, she called and made a doctor’s appointment, relenting that she may need to have things checked out, though whenever she had scans before they were always benign and she was advised to lose weight. “They’ll just tell me the same damn thing.”
Tommy was thriving, sure he had way too many pillows on his couch now, but he was able to convince Sweet Pea to keep some on the bed and in the guest bedrooms, at least break them up some. The little touches as far as plants, new colors of green, reds and yellows, nothing overbearing but more accents to his neutral home. In the pillows, but also in the towels, rugs, blankets for when they would watch movies on said couch and even a few shirts in his closet. He only wore those colors for her, no one else though. Tommy brought up the topic of marriage first saying that before a baby came, he wanted to have a ring on her finger and a certificate in his hand. Velora shook her head at him as usual and asked him how he planned to do that. She was washing dishes, wearing just one of her oversized t-shirts and panties.
“Well, like this Sweet Pea. You thought you were gonna be stuck with me before. Now we’re going to make it official.”
“Miller, we moved in together three months ago, don’t you think it’s a little soon to-” His arms wrapped around her waist as he kissed her cheek.
“No it’s not. I told you we’d do one step at a time. This is the next step. We can make it big or small. Besides, I got this ring on sale.” He chuckled in her ear and reached in his back pocket, pulling out a small box. Vel dried her hands and turned around.
“Tommy I’m not taking some mood ring you got on…that’s a box. An actual box.”
“Yes. Wait, you thought I was gonna fake you out with a mood ring? What kind of man do you take me for?” Tommy exaggerated his fake outrage, crossing his hand over his chest and stumbling back. “You wound me…Vel how could you?”
Velora shook head again, her face in her hands, not believing what she was seeing. The punk did get her a ring. She hadn’t asked for one, she honestly thought it would be next year before she got one, they hadn’t even made wedding plans yet. “You keep surprising me every day Tommy. I find you as annoying as much as I adore you.”
“I’ll take that as a yes honey. Put this on so I can see it on the pretty hand of yours.” He removed the gold ring from the box and slid it on her finger. He held her hand as he moved it around, it appeared to be a little loose. “I was sure I got the size right. Vel, did you lose some weight?” His eyes squinted at her hand, they didn’t look much different so he released her hand and grabbed her hips making her gasp.
“Tommy! I haven’t lost any weight. We just have to get it re-sized. I’m still going to wear it anyway until we do. It’s beautiful.” She admired it, a 6 mm band with 1 carat diamond in an oval setting. “Wait, how much was this?”
Tommy ignored the question, his hands were roaming her hips and love handles, she felt a little less, though she didn’t look it. He would know, the man felt her up daily, several times a day. “Sweet Pea, when’s your appointment? I’m going to come with you.” Vel kissed his cheek before placing her left hand on it.
“You don’t need to, I’m fine. They’re just going to tell me I need to rest or drink more water or lose weight like they always do. It’s why I usually just go for my physical yearly and not much else.” She explained. Tommy knew not to press her too hard on it, they were both stubborn so he would just worry instead. A distraction was in order they had gotten a new dining room table, Vel had called his old table “musty” for the mismatched driftwood it had been made of. The dark cherrywood suited the otherwise light room perfectly, drawing your attention to it.
Tommy used his hands on his fiancé’s hips to guide her back toward the table, he reached and lifted her ass onto the table. “What’s gotten into you now? Don’t be picking me up like that. You’ll end up with a back like your brother.” He tugged on her panties pulling them down to her knees and then off. Squating, he used his forearms to part her thighs before nibbling her sensitive skin.
“If I get a bad back from lifting you Sweet Pea, I’m gonna make sure it’s well earned. Let me taste my fiance. I wonder if now you’ll be more savory or honeyed.” He felt her put her legs over his shoulders and place her calves against his back, by now, she was aware of the position he wanted her in for his meals.
“How does that make any sense? Shit…don’t just use one love. I always need more.” Her hips bucked at the insertion of his finger, he was teasing her, leaning toward her mound and inhaling deeply, filling his lungs with her scent, intoxicating as he found it.
“My greedy girl. I aim to please ya always.” A second digit followed, pumping into her down to the knuckle, usually he worked his fingers in slower but her juices were dribbling onto the wood table, making it glisten. “May have to use your nectar to polish the table later, Sweet Pea.” Tommy ran his other hand up her shirt, pulling it to reach her cushy belly. He placed a kiss on it before placing his hand on the small of her back and scooting her hips forward to start to curl his fingers inside of her, a small spongy depression he discovered inside her months ago that had her babble in between obscenities. Peering upward, his head was hung forward toward her chest, hands firmly on the table, arms taunt, forcing her pelvis to meet his hand. “Almost there Vel, a little more…” His thumb plucked the small bundle of red flesh hidden at the top of her slit. A feral growl left his love as his fingers were taken from her, thighs pulled his upper body forward.
“Tommy…Either put your fingers back in or use your mouth. You will not leave me like this on our dining room table. Didn’t you just say you ‘aim to please’?” His snickers echoes against her drenched mound, his breath, rolling over her sweltering skin.
“I do, but you know I like my pleasantries. I’m a Southern gentleman.” Velora couldn’t see his face, but she could picture his lips curving upward, forever teasing her. She guessed she knew what it was about, she was able to keep her balance with one hand as the other twirled in his soft onyx waves.
“A gentleman now huh? Who leaves a lady wanting? Not sure I want a gentleman then. I want the same man who told me he was starving and I had to make sure he had a warm meal.” Her voice raspy from her screams, cracking when she spoke. Tommy flicked his tongue on her clit, then blew on it.
“Not my exact words, but I’d hate to make such a beautiful woman wait.” He felt Vel release his hair as he plunged into her moist cunt, lapping at entrance, grunting with the roll of her hips toward his face. His mustache tickled her clit each time he pulled back to take a small gasp of air. Her body went rigid as her peak was reached and Tommy shot up to wrap his arms around her waist easing her down on the table. “Easy Sweet Pea, easy Velora…” He kissed her chin, her hands reached for his face and licked his lips,
“I think I’m more savory than Sweet love. May need to change my nickname.” The veteran’s head dropped into her chest, matching her laughter. He now knew how sturdy the new table was. It could stay.
One week later…
Joel pulled up to the florist’s shop. He needed to send flowers for the condolences of one of their frequent customers who would use them for construction contracts. The man’s mother had died and the elder Miller brother in his effort to be more sociable, was following more social cues. He also was doing what his daughter had suggested and ‘ghosting’ Tess. He didn’t feel great about it, but Sarah had advised to ignore her calls and texts since they couldn’t agree to which direction their relationship should go. Joel wanted a partner, someone who he would be comfortable having in his life with his daughter. Tess got along with Sarah just fine, because they didn’t spend much time together outside of a few weeks or a month. His sometimes partner was just fine with that arrangement, thus their disagreement. The man was currently distracted though so he wouldn’t be answering any calls, he was placing his order with the same florist who V had been getting her flowers from. On the glowing recommendation, he ventured into the shop and was met with a woman who had a silver streak in her otherwise strawberry blonde hair. She gave him a warm smile, wiped her hands off on her apron before reaching out for a handshake, it was firm and she had callaouses as well from the different plants she had worked with, a small pink mark was on her neck. Joel wondered what it was from, he did eventually place his order, but they ended up comparing handshakes, whose accent was stronger, discussing children, trucks and work boots. A warmth that Joel hadn’t felt since his wife passed spread in his chest, her name Andy, she had told him like the sheriff from ‘The Andy Griffith Show.” The two laughed over the reference and that their children had no idea who the man was.
Velora sat next to Tommy on the plane. He had asked her to set aside three particular weeks in September. Vel agreed as long as he didn’t have a flash mob or a minister to marry them at an airport. He defended himself by telling her she may be the one to take them to a drive through wedding chapel if she can find one, just to save some time and money. Her head found Tommy’s shoulder, nuzzling into the crook of his neck. She felt safe and terrified. She hadn’t had a chance to speak with him before leaving the country, well maybe she did, but she got cold feet, she was also nervous. It was happy news, but more than anything, she didn’t want to stop working. She knew Tommy would insist on her not working or at the very least, going on light duty, a compromise. Not a bad one if she was being honest. The flight was nearly thirteen hours, Tommy had done this by himself? There were points when they did move around and chat about what their actual wedding plans would be. Something small at the courthouse with immediate family and a reception at their house in the backyard, unsure of where they were going for their honeymoon, it was decided they could figure that one out later. Holding Tommy’s hand as the plane finally started its descent, Velora resolved to tell him one way or another.
The emerald grass crunched under their boots as they walked gingerly in the forest behind the cabin they were staying in. It was cozy and Tommy smiled to himself that Vel was indeed holding onto his arm for any warmth she could gather. He surprised her with the destination of Ireland, but he wanted to show her it’s beauty that he had seen on a much more somber trip. His fiance had been the first person he thought to bring here besides his brother and niece. They were on their way back from the same rocky outcrop that he spread the ashes over some months ago. Velora held his hand as he teared at the memory, glad that she was here with him this time and for every journey the pair would take after. Velora stopped and Tommy did as well, wondering why she had stopped walking.
“We’re almost there Sweet Pea. We can warm up and drink hot chocolate. Might even go out and try some brennivin. One glass though, it will knock you on your ass, almost got me.” He was trying to lighten the mood after this visit to the site. Vel shook her head and it made him confused, she looked nervous.
“I-I have something to tell you. Honestly, I had to think about it and wrap my head around it, because normally it's never anything.” A strong gust blew through the trees whipping the leaves loudly to where the puzzled man saw her mouth move but didn’t hear. He made out, ‘we’re…’ What? All of her body language changed, like she was about to burst, whatever it was it was happy, so was it what he thought?
“Say again Vel, I can’t hear you.” He pointed to his ears but she lunged toward him and cupped his face, giving his lips a peck. The wind had started to calm but was tossing her ponytail in every direction. “Tell me what earned me that.” He grinned.
“We’re pregnant! You’re going to be a father Tommy!” Snot was starting to run down her nose and her eyes were squinted due to the air currents, a mess, but to Tommy it was the face of the mother of his child. The only face he needed to see until the baby was born. His outcry of joy was matched by the enthusiasm in which he picked up Velora and spun her around. She screamed for him to put her down, her laughter spurring him on, eventually he did and tugged her along to their cabin where they lit the fireplace.
Tommy insisted that they shower and she spread out on the bed so he can put his head to her belly. She assured her fiance that it was too early for that but no was not an option. As her nails lightly scratched his scalp, Tommy rubbed his head on his other half’s stomach, knowing that a new life was growing inside of her.
“Thank you Velora. You’ve given me so much over the years. Now you’re giving me a little Miller and a future too. I love you Sweet Pea.” Closing his eyes, he listened to Velora breathe, her hand was still in his hair but she had fallen asleep. With a light huff, his fingers ran up her arm and traced her jaw, ending on her soft lips. “I’ll tell you again when you wake up, Velora. Rest up honey, we’ve a long road ahead together.”

The following day they met again at the client’s house to take care of the final details. They explained that the clock was the source and that they had to get rid of it for the haunting to cease. She simply needed to open the case and they would be on their way. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as it should have been.
“This clock has been in my family for generations. I don’t care what you say, you are not taking this heirloom to be burned among other rubbish.” Mrs. Overton was very upset. She didn’t want to hear any advice given and categorically refused to open the case.
“I understand your disappointment Madam, but if you want your house to be safe again, I really don’t see any other solution.” Mrs Dufour explained.
The conversation had been lasting for hours. Well, metaphorically at least. It really had been 15 minutes, but hearing a client complain about the source wasn’t what y/n liked about her job.
“What if you got display cases made out of silver glass?”
All eyes turned to her.
“Maybe we could find a compromise, we keep your clock while you install new displays and put it back once everything is made safe. That way you can still enjoy your family’s history without the creeping fear. Would that be possible Mrs. Dufour?”
“I don’t think-”
“That is an excellent idea!” Mrs. Overton exclaimed.
“But Mrs. Overton I’m not sure it could be that simple. I really think you should consider giving up your clock.” Mrs. Dufour objected.
“I’d rather keep it. Hopefully you oversee young people with practical solutions! You should listen to them.”
Kipps and Bobby had smiles on their faces, but Mrs. Dufour glared in her direction.
They agreed on a date to bring back the clock, signed a few papers and soon after the team was on its way back to the Fittes headquarters.
“You did a great job keeping our client satisfied today y/n. I’m really impressed.” Kipps said.
“Th- Thank you. That means a lot.” She looked down at her feet, she felt incredibly intimidated. Somehow, she still wasn’t used to receiving that many compliments. She finally got those four words she had waited a month to hear. Her dream of taking on more responsibilities was getting closer, she could feel it.
“Miss y/n, could I have a word with you?”
Her happiness was cut short. Was she really in trouble because she tried to keep a client happy with their service?
“Your behavior today was extremely disrespectful. Contradicting a supervisor in front of a client is beyond unprofessional. What image of the Fittes organization does it send? I hope you won’t do this again.”
“I was just trying to keep Mrs. Overton satisfied. But I understand.” She tried to remain civil. But really she had a hard time not rolling her eyes.
“Good. Now I must leave, I have another appointment.”
“I can take the clock back to Fittes’ if you want. It’s where we’re headed anyway.”
“Thank you but it won’t be necessary.”
“Really it’s no trouble at all.”
“I’ll take care of it myself, no need to insist. Good day.”
What a nice and pleasant person. Clearly if she considered this insubordination, she must have had her hands full when she had to supervise George. As she thought about him, she noticed how insistent she was on bringing the clock back herself. Especially if she had another meeting before…
---
“You should break into her office too.”
“Haha very funny. Will you ever stop making fun of George? He really was worth knowing if you gave him a shot. You shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss him.” she told El.
“I’m not joking. If he’s such a great guy maybe, he was onto something. And her behavior with you was in fact very suspicious.”
“I think I might be reading into some things. I was tired, I’m probably not even remembering it right. Plus, it would serve me right if I got caught and ended up like George. How am I supposed to become a higher up in the Fittes organization with that on my record?”
“Yes, but you don’t see the bigger picture. If you expose her activities, you get all the praise and move up the ladder even faster.”
They couldn’t be serious. How could they even offer to do this? On the other hand, she was very curious to see what Mrs. Dufour could be hiding.
“There’s no way I’m doing this.”
“I wouldn’t let you do this alone! I’ve got your back. I would be on the lookout; you take five minutes inside her office and you come out without being seen. It’s no big deal. And if she is at a meeting right now chances are she won’t be back for hours. Now’s our chance!”
She considered their offer. How could she even think about doing this? But if she didn’t find anything, it would put to rest her suspicions. And if they did find something, it would benefit her in every way possible.
“Okay let’s go right now. But I’m only staying inside for two minutes, non-negotiable.”
“As you wish.”
They located the office easily. It was on the first floor, second office on the left after the elevators. It was lunch time, everything was quiet. y/n couldn’t believe she was actually doing this. Her mind dissociated from her body. It went totally blank and watched as her fingers methodically picked the lock to Mrs. Dufour’s office. El stayed outside to warn her if someone came nearby. She entered the room with determination, trying to remain calm. Her heart was beating atrociously fast. What was she doing? As she stared at the desk in front of her she realized she had no idea what she was looking for. A source from another case that hadn’t been burned maybe? She opened a first drawer, and a second, a third… Nothing. That was such a bad idea. She had to leave. Now. As she turned around the door slammed. Oh no. Was Mrs. Dufour back already? Would El be able to distract her long enough for her to exit discreetly?
“I heard her mumble something about sources being stolen and suspicious behaviors, I didn’t catch all of it but it sounded like nonsense.”
That was El’s voice. What were they doing? She heard steps coming her way. She needed to hide. As she stepped behind a coat hanger near the door, Mrs. Dufour entered the room.
“Miss y/n, I know you are in here. Come out. Right. Now.”
She was holding her breath. There was no escape. She took a step forward. El was standing next to Mrs. Dufour. But they didn’t look panicked. In fact, they were smiling.
“I can’t believe this is the second agent I find here illegally this week. Between your behavior this morning and your break-in, insubordination isn’t enough to describe your insolent attitude.”
No words came out of her mouth. The shock she felt froze her in place.
“You are of course fired, that goes without saying. You can collect your things, I want you gone by the end of the day.”
“I’ll walk her out.” El said, a proud look on their face.
This wasn’t happening. It was just another vivid dream that merged with reality. She was going to wake up in her bed, the sun slowly rising in her window, and none of this would have happened. This could not be the end of her career. Her dream could not be crumbling in front of her eyes in just an instant, to be replaced with a horrific nightmare instead. No this wasn’t real.
“I can’t believe you followed me that easily to be honest.”
She looked up at El, tears now starting to blur her vision. She could only frown.
“But I guess when you’re that naïve and gullible you can’t possibly be qualified to be a supervisor. People like you shouldn’t be put in charge at all to be honest. I’ll never understand why you of all people were selected to be on Kipps’ team. Well now I guess there’s a spot open.” They said with a wink.
She shoved her “friend” aside.
“You betrayed me to get my job?”
“I would say I was smart and did my job correctly, betray makes me sound like a villain.”
y/n had shared a room with El for the past 4 months, she had grown to like them. Of course they were close, they basically lived together. Trust was part of the deal. How could she ever sleep next to that person again? Oh. Right. She wouldn’t have to. As of now she didn’t have a job and didn’t have a place to live either. She would be kicked out of the Fittes housing. She needed to get out, to walk, to breathe. She felt the walls closing in on her, she couldn’t breathe.
She rushed back to her room, tears streaming down her face. She opened her suitcase and bags, filled them with her stuff without taking the time to fold anything. She had to get out of here fast, she couldn’t look El in the eyes. She didn’t want to see their face at all. How could they have pretended for so long, putting on phony smiles and cheering at her success when really they just planned on replacing her one way or another? What did she do to deserve their hate? Was she really the problem? Maybe El was right. Maybe she was too naïve to ever be successful. Maybe she had brought this on herself.
She put on her backpack, took her rapier and her suitcase and exited the room. As she closed the door, El was coming back.
“I see you can’t get out fast enough. Good for you. Enjoy the night watch!” They had an arrogant smirk across their face.
She dropped her luggage, took one step closer and punched her dear friend in the face. They brought their hand up to stop the bleeding and looked at her with pure hatred in their eyes.
“Enjoy the broken nose!”
----
That helped relieve some tension. But she still felt like shit. What was she going to do? She couldn’t just go back home. Her parents would be so disappointed. Not because of the career but because she got fired. And because of the reason why she got fired. She was so ashamed of herself. How could she do something so stupid?
She wandered the streets of London, luggage in hand, for hours, lost in thought and mostly beating herself up. Aside from her life falling apart it was a beautiful day. The leaves were starting to change color, the light was still warm and golden. A fresh breeze rustled her hair as she crossed the street. She had no idea where she was going. She didn’t know that part of London well. She had passed Mayfair at least 15 minutes ago and was now in a more residential part of the city. The white houses had lavender at their balconies and most of them had an iron gate in front of the stairs that led to their door. The neighborhood was quiet and everything was still except for two crows hopping around at the end of the street. She was staring into space when a sudden loud noise made her jump. It was a malfunctioning ghost lamp that had went off even though curfew wasn’t for another couple of hours. It made her look up and she saw a sign reading Portland Row. That sounded familiar. Where had she heard of that street before? Wasn’t George living nearby? What was the number he had told her… 45? No, 35. She could always pay him a visit. It’s not like she had any place to be.
She hesitated. He would probably laugh at her. Though the situation was ridiculous. At least she would make someone smile. And she would get a cup of tea before wandering some more for the whole night. She looked for the number 35 and saw the sign across the street. She stared at the house for a while. She felt nervous for some reason. She looked at herself in a car window. She looked like a mess. Her hair was tangled, her eyes swollen from crying so much. George would probably take pity on her. That was so embarrassing. But given how her day was going she didn’t really care anymore.
As she opened the iron gate, she noticed a wooden sign that read “A. J. Lockwood & Co. Investigators”. The name didn’t ring a bell. The sign looked brand new. She vaguely remembered George mentioning a friend he was working with, but it didn’t look like she had met them before.
She felt lost. She wanted to run away, her shame growing with every step she took towards the door. It was almost unbearable. Burying herself into the woods in the middle of nowhere sounded more appealing suddenly. She forced her hand to knock on the door. She waited a few seconds that felt like hours. After a minute she figured they might be out. She turned around, ready to leave. This was a terrible idea. It was getting rid of the last tiniest bit of dignity she still had. As she stepped back one step the door suddenly opened.
“Hello, welcome to Lockwood & Co. Do you have an appointment?”
She turned around, surprised by the voice behind her.
“H-Hi George…”
“y/n? I didn’t expect you to come by so soon.” He looked at her and realized she didn’t look as proper as she’s used to. “Are you okay?”
“Not really if I’m being honest. Could I come in?”
“Of course, yes please”
He showed her inside.
“I hope I’m not bothering you.”
“Don’t worry it’s a slow day, I was just cleaning the kitchen.”
The hallway felt welcoming and seemed traditional at first. But as she walked deeper into the house, she noticed the masks hanging on the walls, the rapiers in the umbrella stand, the ancient weaponry on the shelves. The atmosphere was homely but also unsettling. It wasn’t unpleasant or threatening though. She felt strangely at ease.
They settled in a living room with the same atmosphere as the hallway. He brought her some tea and doughnuts she felt really grateful for.
“So, do you wanna talk about what happened to you? You clearly look like you’ve had a rough day.”
“I got fired from Fittes.” She blurted out. There. She’d said it out loud. It was official. George opened round eyes and looked at her in total disbelief. As he was about to say something she added
“For the same reason you got fired.”
George stared at her. His eyes couldn’t get any wider. They looked at each other for several minutes. After what felt like an hour George burst out laughing. y/n quickly followed. She relieved all the tension and stress she had been accumulating today. They laughed, laughed and laughed until they were out of breath.
“You can’t be serious.”
“Unfortunately, I am.” She said wiping a tear. At least this one wasn’t from sadness or anger.
“But what? How?” He could barely articulate full sentences.
She told him the full story. How she hadn’t believed anything he had told her. How Mrs. Dufour’s behavior had been strange. How she got talked into breaking the rules. How she was betrayed. How stupid and gullible she felt. How guilty she felt. For once it was her turn to talk. George found himself on the other side and listened closely to the whole thing.
“You really go all out when you break the rules.”
This threw them into another fit of laughter. At this moment, they heard the front door close.
“Hey George, sounds like you’re having fun. Who’s your friend?”
She turned around to look at the guy who had just entered. Her smile dropped. Could this day get any worse? Standing in front of her was the most arrogant and pretentious guy she had ever had the displeasure of meeting.
He took a step forward, putting out his hand as he said
“I’m Anthony Lockwood, pleasure to meet you. You must be y/n, George told me you would be stopping by.”
She stared at him; her anger rekindled. She didn’t shake his hand and simply waited, remaining perfectly still. After a few seconds he casually took a seat in a sofa opposite the couch she was sitting on.
“You look familiar, have we met before?”
She couldn’t believe him. Of course he didn’t remember. If the doughnuts hadn’t been that good, she would have gotten up and left without looking back. But she was desperately hungry, and she wasn’t so eager to spend the night wandering the streets of London with no place to go.
“You might have seen me around near Fittes, but I don’t think we’ve met.” She answered politely. He looked at her with a strange intensity, his expression briefly unreadable before changing into a complaisant smile. “It’s nice to finally meet George’s colleague.” She concluded.
“Well, more like his employer technically.”
For heaven’s sake. She mustered all the self-control she had left to not roll her eyes. She forced a smile, but it looked cold and stiff. The room fell silent, but it was probably for the best.
“So how are things going over at Fittes?” Lockwood asked her. He was trying to start the conversation again but there was a certain disdain in his tone that she didn’t appreciate.
George shot her a glance before turning insistent eyes towards Lockwood. It was sweet how considerate he was trying to be.
“Not that great actually since I was fired a few hours ago.” She said in a nonchalant tone.
“Oh… I’m sorry to hear that.” He looked at his shoes, avoiding eye contact. “Having heard you laugh so much I expected a much happier context.”
“Sorry to disappoint.”
“No, I didn’t mean-” He stopped mid-sentence. He looked defeated and just drank his tea in silence.
George turned towards her.
“So what are you gonna do now?”
“I haven’t got the slightest idea…” She admitted. “Maybe wandering the streets of London tonight will inspire me.”
“You don’t have a place to stay?” George asked, a certain worry in his voice.
“All the trains were booked, so I couldn’t go back home.” She lied. She didn’t want to admit that she was scared to tell her family about her situation. “I could always find a hotel I guess.”
“Don’t bother, you can stay with us tonight. Right, Lockwood?”
“Um, sure. I have an extra room in the attic.”
Fantastic. That was just what she needed. To stay even longer in his company.
“I really don’t want to impose. I’m sure you’ll be better off without me.”
“Don’t be so dramatic, it’s just one night. It’s the least I can do after putting those ideas about Mrs. Dufour in your head. It’s all my fault really.”
“Why would you say that?” Lockwood asked, intrigued.
“I sort of got fired for the same reason he did.” She admitted. She couldn’t help the shy smile that appeared on her face. She genuinely wanted to laugh at herself.
Lockwood laughed at the situation too. He looked at her with a charming smile but she felt like he was laughing at her for being so naïve.
“Rule number one around George is to do the exact opposite of what he does.”
“I had my reasons for acting like this. I wasn’t blindly imitating him, she was being suspicious.” She said defensively.
“Maybe next time, or at least if there is a next time, don’t let George’s wild theories get to you.” He said with a wink. There was another face she wanted to punch.
She took a deep breath to keep her urges under control. Giving in to anger would only get her kicked out and then she would really be wandering the streets all night. She could always find another plan tomorrow but for now she needed to eat and to sleep soundly. The day had been exhausting.

Hannibal lector x reader - unravelling
Tumblr media
Part 1:
Sitting down on the back of the bench, you rested your arms on your knees as you glanced at the man next to you, taking the coffee cup from him to drink some.
“You know we can’t survive on coffee alone, when are you going to actually eat a proper meal?”
“Shut up Kyle.”
He grinned a little at you, taking the coffee cup back to take a sip from it.
“You coming by later?”
You nodded your head, grabbing his arm so you could take a look at his watch.
“Yeah, I’ve got nothing else to do.”
“So you’re not blowing off your boss? Or your therapy?”
Scoffing, you rolled your eyes.
“Don’t even go into it.”
“I won’t, but I reckon those three might.”
He pointed to the side and you turned to look at the three men walking over and you sighed heavily, snatching the coffee cup from him, downing the rest.
“Come on! That was mine!” Kyle whined.
“I’ll buy you another, I’m going to need it trust me.”
He hummed a little bit, standing up, holding his fist out to you.
“Catch you on the other side.”
You nodded, tapping your fist against his, and he mock saluted to three that had stopped just in front of you before he walked away.
You turned to the three that had came over.
“What?” You asked.
“Hannibal says you’ve been avoiding your therapy sessions.” Will frowned.
You shrugged a little bit, running a hand through your hair, climbing down from the bench in front of them all.
Crossing your arms, you turned your attention to Jack, narrowing your eyes a little bit.
“Told you I’m not part of the FBI anymore, stop getting involved in my life.”
“We’re concerned, we’re your friends, we want to make sure you’re alright and we can’t do that if you keep declining all of our calls.”
“Yeah, well maybe you should’ve thought about that before you sent me on a case alone without backup.”
Walking past, you stopped by Hannibal, offering him a small nod of your head.
“Doctor Lector, I’d appreciate if you cancelled all future appointments.”
“Perhaps we could talk about this beforehand?” He asked.
You didn’t say anything as you walked away, making your way to the bar you had began to call a second home, sitting yourself on a stool.
“The usual?” The woman asked.
“And a cigarette if you’ve got one Anna.”
She smiled at you, sliding a glass over to you, and you took a sip from it, taking the cigarette she had just lit.
You took a drag, and pointed to a few of the bottles behind her.
“Might wanna hide them.”
“Doves?”
You shook your head, pulling your phone out of your pocket to show her all of the missed calls and texts from everybody.
She nodded, placing all the things under the counter, and she leant over it, taking your phone so she could read through everything.
“You ever thought maybe therapy could help?”
“With that? It isn’t going to lead me to the person I’m looking for.”
She gave a small nod.
“Maybe not, but come on (Y/N) we all know what you’ve been through. It could help make everything clear. You’re so hell bent on this you’re going to get yourself killed doing it.”
You glared a little bit at Anna.
“I don’t care, the asshole that fucked my life deserves the same amount of shit that I’ve been through.”
She sighed softly, pulling at your longish hair a little bit.
“Can I at least give you a haircut, this is getting out of hand and you look like you live in the wild.”
“What you thinking?”
She hummed a little bit, walking around the bar and stood in front of you with her hands on her hips as she tilted her head to the side.
“I’m kind of thinking a mullet, you know like shave around the sides, you can still style it however you want. Plus I really want to see if it’s gonna grow back white or (H/C).”
You laughed a little, shrugging your shoulders.
“Go nuts Anna, do whatever.”
She grinned brightly, and dragged a chair over to the middle of the bar, and you sat on it while you waited for her to finish with your hair.
You were just having a small talk with her while she cut your hair, and when she finished she ruffled it, handing you a mirror while she cleaned up.
You looked at it, brushing your hair aside to look at the shaved sides, and you stood up, setting the mirror on the chair.
Bending your head down, you ruffled your hair for a few seconds before standing up, brushing it back with your hand.
“I like it, it’s refreshing to have a new look in a way.”
“Wasn’t a hairdresser for years for no reason.”
“It’s still weird you decided to open a bar for ghouls instead but you do you Anna.”
She laughed, going back behind the bar and held up your phone that had started to ring again.
“It’s your therapist.”
“Decline it.”
She hung up on Hannibal, and you stayed there for a few hours, meeting Kyle there for a little while before heading back to your apartment.
You went for a shower, and stood in front of the covered mirror as you dried your hair, tossing the towel aside as you pulled a sweater on, trying not to look at the large scar across your stomach.
Leaving your bathroom, you went to the kitchen to make yourself some coffee, and you walked to the living room to turn on the Tv while you waited for it to be ready.
“Hey.”
You turned to the front door, looking at the slightly beat up man that walked through.
“Doves?”
“More and more out each day. Here.”
He tossed your a neatly wrapped package in brown paper, and you caught it, heading to the kitchen to put it on a plate.
You grabbed your coffee and plate, sitting down to eat while you watched whatever was going on with the world at the moment.
Finishing the food you were given you set the plate down, picking up your coffee cup, taking a couple of sips as your roommate came back out.
“Seriously don’t leave that shit laying around.”
He took your plate, going to wash it for you.
“Sam?”
You heard him hum a little bit.
“Anna said I should stop hunting the man who did this to me.”
“Do you think you should?”
He walked out from the kitchen, leaning against the doorway, crossing his arms.
“No. I mean come on, if he did this to me then who knows how many he’s already done this too, or how many more he’s planning.”
Sam nodded his head.
“Do you think he’ll do it again?”
“You’ve got to be seriously fucked to put ghoul organs in a human just to see if it would work.”
Sam sighed a little bit, walking over to sit in front of you on the table.
“All I’ll say is don’t act rashly (Y/N), with the doves crawling about, on the hunt for ghouls, trying to track down members of the hell hounds. Which means you’re in twice as much danger.”
You sighed, nodding your head as you slumped back into the couch.
“Look, I’m going to do whatever I have to do Sam, plus you didn’t have to follow me.”
“Considering you’re still pretty new to our world, and you’re currently running ranks in the biggest ghoul organisation in the state, and you just took over three wards of the city, I’m going to say I did.”
You smiled a little bit.
“You’re a good friend.”
He shrugged a little bit.
“It’s easier to pay rent with you living here, so can’t exactly have you dying on me.”
“Wow, okay and I thought we were friends.”
He scoffed a little bit.
“Yeah, liked I’d be friends with a once human. That’s gross.”
“Aw come on Sam!”
You reached out to hug him and he pushed you back down on the couch, standing up as there was a knock on the door.
“Get away from me.”
You chuckled a little bit, watching as he went to answer the door, and you got up to go make yourself some more coffee.
You took a deep breath, and froze slightly, turning your attention to the doorway as Sam and Will appeared.
“Visitor.”
“Thanks Sam. Coffee?”
“Going to the bar.”
You nodded, turning to Will, gesturing to the coffee and he nodded his head so you made him a cup as well, handing it over to him.
You walked back to the couch, sitting down, and he sat down where Sam had been sat a few minutes ago.
“You cut your hair. Why?”
“It was about time, it was getting in the way. Why’re you here Will?”
He set his cup down.
“Because you need help, your accident was nearly two years ago (Y/N), you quite the FBI just over a year ago, now you’re abandoning your therapy?”
“I don’t need therapy, I’m fine.”
“You went missing for three months.”
“Needed time away.”
You took a sip of your coffee.
“You moved apartments, changed your whole friend group, appearance. I know you (Y/N), I grew up with you and this isn’t you.”
“Look Will, I got my life you have yours. Leave it at that.”
He shook his head.
“No. No something is off about you. Different.”
“Yeah, I was in an accident were I was in a horrific car accident. I think that kind of shit changes people Will.”
“That’s why you need to talk to Hannibal, come on please. The FBI are paying for it, so you don’t have to worry about that. You won’t talk to me, so please talk to somebody.”
Will looked at you, white hair, emotionless (E/C) eyes, you looked paler and skinner than the last time he had seen you a few months ago.
“I don’t recognise you anymore…” he whispered.
“Yeah. Maybe it’s for the better.”
You downed your coffee, and went back into the kitchen hoping that he would get the hint and leave, but he didn’t.
He walked into the kitchen, standing against the counter.
“Please just come by Hannibal’s office tomorrow evening. Think about it (Y/N), we all want to help you.”
Will gave you a small smile and he left, leaving you to think about what he had said.
You spent the whole night awake thinking about it as you sat at your desk, going through your medical files like you did every night.
Nothing ever changed, you never saw anything different, but you kept looking just in case.
You didn’t leave your room at all the following day, your phone kept lighting up with texts telling you to meet Will and Hannibal’s office.
As evening rolled around, you finally left your room, making your way into the living room where Sam was sat on the couch.
“Some dude came looking for your earlier, told him you weren’t home.”
“Will?”
“Jack Crawford. Wanted to talk to you about the accident.”
You hummed a little, grabbing your jacket.
“Going out.”
Sam pushed himself up, grabbing his own jacket as he trailed after you, hands stuffed in his pockets as he followed you out to the street where you melted into the people walking by.
“You don’t have to follow me.”
Sam didn’t say anything, and you glanced back at him before going back to walking about.
“Seriously? You called Kyle?”
“Not letting you walk around undefended in this state of mind.”
“I have to agree with hardass here.” Kyle said.
You sighed a little, crossing boundaries into the ward that had been overrun by ghouls.
It was mostly abandoned by people now, and as you emerged on the otherside of the alleyway you pulled on your skull mask, pulling on your gloves.
A few ghouls stopped to glance at you but didn’t do anything, and you carried on walking to the old fountain, and you sat down.
“Don’t often see you around these parts.” Someone spoke.
You flicked your gaze up to the hooded figure, and you shrugged a little bit.
“Have you found anything?”
“Nothing new, got some inside intel about the doves wanting to do a takedown of this ward, but they can’t organise a task force big enough. They’re spreading into the fourth and fifth wards though.”
You nodded your head.
“Keep away from them, don’t interact unless you have too. Got it?”
“That’s no fun.”
You stood up, turning to face him.
“Listen to me, do. Not. Interact. Got it?” You said lowly.
He grumbled a little bit but nodded his head, agreeing with you.
“Whatever you say Grimm, I’ll pass the message along.”
“Good, if I heard about anyone fucking with the doves on purpose I’ll personally deal with them.”
“I expect nothing else.”
You carried on wondering around for a little while until you finally left the ward, hiding your mask in your jacket again as you made your way back into normal public.
Kyle and Sam were still close behind you, and you turned to Kyle.
“Can you ask Anna to keep an ear to the ground?”
“Yeah, will do.”
He wondered away, and Sam stepped in line with you.
Neither of you said anything, but when you went to walk back home he grabbed the back of your jacket, directing you down a different path instead.
“What the hell?”
“Get your ass into that damn therapists office, I can’t be having them coming by every day.”
He pushed you into the building and you sighed, walking to the office you had been avoiding and knocked on the door.
After hearing Hannibal call for you to come in, you pushed the door open, walking in with Sam behind you, and he stuffed his hands into his pockets, leaning against the wall.
“I see you brought a friend.” Hannibal said.
“I see you brought two.”
“We just want to talk, that’s all.” Jack said gently.
You turned around to look at Sam, and he left the room, leaving the four of you alone and you walked over, sitting down in the chair Hannibal offered you.
“What is there to talk about?”
“Your spiralling path into self destruction.” Jack sighed

Be There - Steve Harrington x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: When a friends-with-benefits agreement leads to an unplanned pregnancy, you have to figure out how to tell Steve the news and plan for the aftermath.
A/N: Yeah pregnancy tropes can be annoying, but I was feeling domestic and dad Steve makes me wanna cry
"You don't look so hot, Y/N." Robin pointed out as she absentmindedly flipped through a magazine on your bed.
You groaned and flipped her off. “Thanks for noticing. I’m glad I look as shitty as I feel.”
Your friend merely shrugged at you, but you knew she was right. You looked like crap. You felt like crap. The past week or so, you’d felt nauseous and tired. Needless to say you didn’t have to energy to put any effort into your appearance.
“How long have you been feeling bad?” Robin pushed herself up onto her elbows.
“Um, I don’t know? A week?”
“Hmmm…”
“Hey, what’s that for? Don’t ‘hmmm’ me, missy.” You raise an eyebrow at her.
This time she sat up fully, her expression growing serious. “Okay, don’t get mad at me, but I think you should go get a test.”
“What?” She couldn’t possibly be suggesting…
“Taking a pregnancy test couldn’t hurt. I know you two thought you were being sneaky, but we all know about your situation with Steve. All I’m saying is maybe you should check. Listen, I’ll even go with you to buy the test, and I can stay while you take it if you want some moral support.” Robin elaborated.
She made too many good points. That was the scary part. She was definitely right, it wasn’t a bad idea to go get a test. After all the stress and chaos of the spring, with Hawkins almost being destroyed and all, you and Steve had found a sort of comfort in each other. The two of you weren’t dating, just close friends that happened to sleep with each other from time to time.
So, that was how you ended up sitting in your bathroom with Robin. The two of you sat anxiously as you avoided looking at the stick.
“You do it.” You blurted.
“What? Me?” Robin gaped.
You nodded quickly. “I can’t do it. You look. Please, Rob.”
Robin exhaled and nodded slowly. “Yeah, okay. I’ll look.”
She stepped over to the sink and glanced down in the sink, where moments before you’d placed the little white sticks. All she had to do was look at it and ensure you that they were still white, and hadn’t turned-
“Blue. Holy shit, they’re blue. Y/N, they turned blue.” She turned to you with wide eyes.
Oh fuck. Three pregnancy tests, you took three just in case, and they all came back positive.
You were pregnant.
Tears welled up in your eyes and soon spilled over your cheeks. “Robin, what am I going to do?! We just graduated high school! What about college? I can’t go away to school with a baby! Oh God…what about Steve? How am I going to tell him?”
Robin abruptly cut you off with a hug. It was a little awkward since neither of you were exactly huggers, but in that moment you clutched her back tightly.
“Y/N, listen, it’s gonna be okay. We’ve got you, I’ll be here no matter what. You want to keep it? I’ll help out. Give it up? I support you. End it? I’ll go with you to the appointment. And trust me, Steve will say the same.” Robin muttered as she rubbed soothing circles into your back.
You nodded, but you just needed a minute. You had finally felt like things were going back to normal. After graduation, you and Robin had saved up for months to get an apartment together. College was going to start soon, and you were both looking forward to it. It was perfect, young adult bliss. Just two friends in an apartment, working part time jobs and getting ready for college.
But then this happened. A baby. You couldn’t believe it. Yeah, you and Steve hooked up a lot, but you were careful. Apparently not careful enough.
“Thanks, Robin. For being here.” You whispered into her shoulder.
•••••••
It took you a week to work up the courage to tell Steve. You weren’t proud of that timeframe, but you needed some time to come to terms with things yourself.
You decided to keep it. For reasons you couldn’t comprehend, you wanted to have the baby. Sure you were young and not even with the father, but you were determined to make it work and even Robin offered to help. Now you just had to figure out how to tell Steve that.
He knew something was up, that much you could tell. You’d turned him down twice this week to hang out, and each time you sounded more panicked when you canceled.
You took a deep breath and knocked on his door. This was one of the few times it came in handy that Steve’s parents were always gone. Having this conversation with them present would be less than ideal.
The man in question opened the door moments later with a grin. “Hey, Y/N, what’s going on? Didn’t expect you.”
You shrugged with a nervous laugh. “Well, I just wanted to talk about something. You busy right now?”
Steve’s smile faltered slightly. “Uh, yeah no I’m free. Come on in.”
You followed him inside and into the living room. He sat down on the couch and you took a seat on the chair next to it.
“You want anything to drink or…?” Steve offered anxiously.
You shook your head. “I’m good, thanks though.”
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Steve blurted.
Cutting right to the chase. I mean, that was the whole reason for you being there, but you still dreaded the next part. Still, it had to be said sooner or later.
“Okay, here goes. I’m pregnant.” You stated. You had hoped to sound calm, but your voice was shaking slightly.
The atmosphere grew twice as tense in an instant. Steve stared at you in shock. No words. He just…blinked.
You decided to fill the silence with the script you’d mentally prepared with Robin earlier. Of course the script didn’t quite come out as rehearsed. “So, um, it’s yours. Well, I’m not saying you have to be there. What I mean is I’m keeping it, but you don’t have to be involved if you don’t want. This was just a fling, you didn’t sign up for a baby. But you can be around if you want to be. I just thought you should know, so you can do what you want with the information.”
As soon as the words left your mouth, you internally cringed. That was probably one of the worst pregnancy confessions to occur. You didn’t want to sound like an ass and keep him from his kid’s life, but you also didn’t want him to think you were trying to ensnare him in some scheme.
“You’re pregnant? Like, for real, being one hundred percent serious? We’re having a baby?” Steve rasped, still looking mildly stunned.
“Completely serious. I have an appointment with a doctor next week and everything.”
He was silent for another beat. “Can I go with you?”
“Oh, uh, sure.” You stammer, not quite expecting this.
“And not just tomorrow, like for all of it. I want it be there. I know we’re young and all, but I want to be a dad to our kid. If you’ll have me.” Steve looked over at you, and you could swear tears shone in his eyes.
You gave him a small smile. “Our baby will be lucky to have you, of course you can be there.”
“Is it okay if I hug you?”
The question seemed so odd, considering how physical your relationship normally was but you nodded with a chuckled.
As Steve embraced you, a small weight was lifted off of you. He took this way better than most guys you knew would. Probably because Steve was just a generally good person.
“Steve?”
“Hm?” He pulled away to look at your face.
“I’m glad it’s you. I know it’s all crazy and we're severely underprepared for this, I'm glad you're the one I'm doing this with." You admitted.
Steve grinned and kissed you on the cheek. "I'm glad it's you, too."
"Does this mean you'll go with me to tell my parents? Because I'm sure they'll be thrilled to know their first grandchild will be the product of a hook up." You elbowed him lightly in an attempt at some humor to lighten things up.
He chuckled. "Sure, I'll go. Hey, do you think it would help if the grandkid came from your boyfriend?"
You stilled. "Boyfriend?"
Steve sensed your wariness and gave you a little space. He cleared his throat before explaining. "Yeah, well that's what I wanted to talk to you about the other day, but you said you weren't feeling good and then we had bigger fish to fry today. What I'm getting at is it didn't exactly come up yet, but I wanted to ask you about it. I really care about you, Y/N. Obviously we have that spark, but it's more than that. You're incredible, you're funny, and you're so kind. I fell for you long before we started whatever this is, and I really hope you'd consider giving this a real shot."
Now you felt stunned. Sure, you had a little crush on Steve. That had just gotten a bit lost in your mind compared to the past couple days. But date? Right now?
"Steve, we're going to be parents by next year. Are you sure we should try this now?"
"No," He answered honestly. "But I'm more sure that I want you in my life than I am of anything right now."
Fuck if this man didn't always manage to pull at your heart strings. For now, you'd blame it on the baby hormones, you decided.
You could share his sentiment, though. While you were willing to do this alone, you'd love to have Steve there. There was nothing clearer in your heart. You fell for Steve long ago, you were having his baby, maybe dating wasn't too awful of an idea.
"Boyfriend does have a nice ring to it." You gave him a grin, which he returned with a slow, sweet kiss.

A Gift of Joy
A/N: Yes, I’m being very self-indulgent, as usual, for my birthday.
***
“I scheduled the appointment to bring my SUV in for maintenance next week,” Kensi told Deeks. He glanced up from switching out a mini lightbulb from a strand of lights on the Christmas tree.
“Sweet.”
“Also, my water just broke.”
Deeks stilled, one eyebrow arching up as he processed this piece of information. “Are you having any contractions yet?”
“Yeah, but only one so far and not very strong,” Kensi answered.
“Ok, well, Sheila said we probably wouldn’t need to head to the hospital until you get to five minutes between contractions, right?” Deeks checked, clearly already three steps ahead in his head.
“Yeah. Unless I have any severe pain, get dizzy, or feel like I need to push.” She knew she wasn’t telling Deeks anything new, since he’d taken copious notes during all of their pregnancy classes provided by their midwife, Sheila. It was more to confirm that she wasn’t experiencing any unusual symptoms.
“All right. I’ll, uh, call Sheila so she’s ready when it’s time, and double check we have everything packed.”
Kensi watched him, unbelievably proud of his ability to stay calm. Aside from the first few days after finding out she was pregnant, when they’d both been in a state of shock and overwhelmed, Deeks had attacked the preparation with the same energy and focus he would a case.
“Thanks.” Kensi winced faintly as another contraction rippled through her abdomen and back. Deeks was in front of her, gently clasping her hand in a second.
“You ok, baby?”
“Yeah, that one was just a little stronger,” she explained. “It wasn’t that bad though and about 10 minutes from the last one.”
“Let me know if that changes,” Deeks said. “Do you wanna call Rosa?”
“Yeah, I will as soon as I grab something to eat.” He started to move away, but Kensi stop him with a brief tug of his hand. “Hey, thanks for taking such good care of us.”
“Alway. I love you,” Deeks murmured, kissing her softly. He sank to one knee and pressed his lips to her stomach, his touch so loving and gentle, Kensi felt her throat tighten. Standing up again, Deeks squeezed her hand one more time before rushing off to get things ready.
***
Caleb and Sophia Deeks entered the world 6 minutes apart and just short of four hours after Kensi went into labor. It was a remarkably uncomplicated, if fast, delivery. After checking that Kensi and the babies were all healthy, Sheila had left the family alone to bond.
“This is insane,” Deeks murmured, peering down at Caleb curled up on his bare chest. His hand looked giant against Caleb’s tiny back. For the first time today, he looked, and sounded, a touch overwhelmed. Or maybe awed was a better word.
It gave Kensi so much joy to see him realizing one of his most fervent wishes.
“Hey, come here,” Kensi called softly, not wanting to wake Sophia, who was similarly cradled in her own arms. Both babies had initially cried upon making their grand entrances into the world, then fallen asleep shortly after.
Deeks stood up carefully, keeping Caleb anchored to his chest with one hand. When he reached the side of the hospital bed, Kensi patted the mattress beside her. Deeks slid onto the bed, slipping his free arm around Kensi and Sophia once he was situated.
“I always forget how tiny and completely helpless they are at first. It’s incredible and so, so terrifying,” he said, brushing his finger over Sophia’s round cheek. She sighed in her sleep, shakily stretching one arm to the side before settling again.
“It is, but you’re a natural,” Kensi assured him. “You’ve always been. I mean, just look at how calm he is.” She snuggled closer to him. “I couldn’t have done any of this without you.”
Deeks scoffed. “Please. I just had to stand there while you pushed out these two.”
“You did so much more than that. You gave me the strength and courage I needed to get through labor.” Kensi smiled up at him. “Like you always do.”
“Either way, we made some cute kids,” he said with a smitten look. “I can’t wait for Rosa to meet them.”
“Yeah, just like their daddy.” Kensi tugged at one of his curls, and Deeks snorted.
“You’re ridiculous.” He gestured with his chin towards Sophia. “You wanna switch?”
They carefully made the swap, settling in once more. Kensi leaned her head against his, looking down on their two bundles of joy.

A/N: Yes, yes, yes, this time around I gave the babies my birthday. Title references my own middle name. And yes, this is incredibly cheesy.

Pairing: f!Spacefarer x Sam Coe
Word Count: 777
bright and new
“You’re coming with me to that gala.”
She says it so matter of fact. Her voice is muffled behind the bathroom door in the captain’s cabin.
“Why me?”
“You’re Sam Coe. Your name is well known. You make the most sense.”
What does he expect her to say? Something along the lines of, you’re my favorite Sam. Or I’m in love with you Sam. Maybe not that. He’s not ready for words like that but what’s his imagination for if not fantastical thinking?
He’s perched on the couch, stuck reading and rereading the last paragraphs in A Tale of Two Cities. Eventually, he gives into his preoccupations and sets the book down. “Walter makes more sense if you ask me.”
“Good thing I didn’t ask you.”
She reappears from the bathroom and he’s never seen her like this. Well, he hasn’t seen her in a lot of formats, really. She’s usually grimed up (and she grimes up good) or in a bulky spacesuit. But this black bodycon dress with one slit up the side accents all the places that are soft. All her curves. Curves that would be accentuated wearing his hands as an accessory.
She adjusts her purple dangle earrings. “You’re staring. You okay, Sam?”
He clears his throat and lets out a small little laugh. “Just, I—well, uh.” He breathes deep. “This sounds stupid but,” he pauses and smiles, “you leave me speechless.”
“That was a whole hell of a lot of words for a speechless man.” She beckons him over. “Help me with this?”
It’s maybe two steps before he’s got the necklace in hand, fumbling with the clasp on her neck. The exposed skin is a distraction. Not to mention she smells real nice too, something light and floral.
“A thank you would have sufficed,” he blurts.
And he’s very proud of the way his voice doesn’t crack as his eyes keep roaming where they shouldn’t.
The dress is cut low—and he means very low. It would be so easy to bend her over the desk she’s already bumped up against. Shove that half of her dress aside and—
The necklace slips and he’s on hands and knees. The rim of his hat catches on her ass and tumbles to the floor too. Trying his best to recover, he smoothly snatches up both, replacing his hat and chuckling.
“Whoa, slippery little thing,” he says.
She’s got a hand over her mouth, stifling a laugh. He tries again with the necklace. The angle he holds himself at does not help his case when it comes to getting the damn thing on though. He’s lucky it remains in one piece, somehow. Finally, after a few long and awkward minutes, the delicate and simple chain drapes around her neck.
“There,” he says while thinking about stepping away from her.
But he just wants to linger a moment. Aka, calm himself down before she sees, very obviously, where his mind has been. She spins to face him and he’s caught in her gaze. Thankfully, there’s at least an inch between her and him or his carefully timed breathing would have been all for naught.
“Walter already has a date, by the way. I don’t know if you remember her? Gorgeous gal, goes by the name of—“
“His wife.”
“What? That’s very sexist of you Samothy Coe. Her name is Issa Eklund.”
“Uh, not fair. I was answering the first part of your question. You know, the one about remembering.” He tilts his head a little and pulls at his collar. Then lets his hand fall naturally to his side, flexing his fingers a little to gain some sense of inner composure. “And that’s definitely not my full name.”
“Hmm, I’ll keep guessing then.”
She’s reaching up and just barely brushes his face, thumbing something away. He stills under her touch. Forgets to breathe.
“There was a little piece of oatmeal in your beard. It was distracting me. Gone now.” She smiles. “I’ve got an appointment at Enhance to do my hair and makeup and I've got a suit for you ready to be picked up at the lodge when you feel like. I’ll meet you there at five and we’ll make our way to the gala.”
“I don’t have any say in this at all?”
“Of course you do. Do you object to any of my instructions? Or have a request?”
He shifts from one foot to the other, stuffing a hand in his pocket. “Well, no but—“
She kisses his cheek then, leaving him truly speechless. “I’ll see you at five, Sam.”
Gaping after her, he remembers to breathe when the door hisses closed.
