#but muzan knows he has a better chance of not getting caught out and killed if he lets the real ingo buy him credibility
Note
we have to discuss muzan powers goddamn
Did you know he can implant his Consciousness into demons?
he can just live inside their brain. Rent free. if they have enough blood. Even after he dies.
Not to mention that ones thoughts aren't even safe.
As the progenitor demon he is only demon capable of inflicting life-threatening wounds capable of completely destroying the cells of another demon without the need of the swords or sunlight. (Direct quote from the wiki)( I'm trying not to confuse you by seriously fact-checking now)
So what I'm getting is that Ingo can also do permanent damage sort of deal via by breathing
okay here is what i'm thinking and this requires a little editing of the exact clauses and rulesets of muzan's powers but shh. what if, being cornered by the hashira, he decides to essentially let them think they're destroying him, and transfer his consciousness to ingo's body, one demon they won't kill if they don't think he's a liability. and then he just... waits, patiently, biding his time, knowing that eventually the perfect moment will come where he can destroy the demon slayer corps, comprehensively, once and for all

★ It was never in Muzan’s plan to ever fall in love. I feel like the only reason he has ever gotten married in the last , was because he felt like it made him look better. He never felt any form of love for those filthy woman , but you were very different from anyone he has ever seen.
★ He met you by complete accident. You were simply walking around town when a random creep started to harass you out of nowhere. Muzan could hear the fuss that you were making , and decided to check it out because he was very bored. When he got to the scene , he stopped to admire you for a minute.
★ Then he snapped out of his daze , and killed the man in front of everyone. He then fled . You were in complete shock. You never got to see his face. But Muzan saw yours. You looked so perfect.
★ He couldn’t help but daydream about you whenever he got the chance. Even Kokushibou started to notice the change in his masters behavior. Kokushibou was very curious to know what was going on in his head. Luckily , he never had to ask him , because Muzan started to talk about you all the time.
★ Kokushibou never minded it though. Muzan even hired a painter to paint a portrait of you.
★ Sometimes , Muzan would get very mad at himself for being so fascinated with a weak human. Every time he caught himself thinking of you , he would feel angry at himself ( and sometimes you ) for making him feel this way. Muzan would make Kokushibou follow you around just to make sure that you were safe.
★ Kokushibou even found himself falling for you. This made Muzan very angry , and jealous. As soon as he realized that Kokushibou had a interest in you , he forbid Kokushibou from seeing you.
★ That never stopped Kokushibou.
★ Muzan found out that he was not listening to him , so he snapped. He took you in the middle of the night while you were peacefully sleeping in your bedroom. He then locked you up in a luxurious room , and waited.
★ A Couple Months Later ★
★ Muzan can get really intense when it comes to showing love , and affection towards his precious darling. Sometimes he will force you to cuddle him , and give him kisses. He doesn’t really see anything wrong with it , because he feels like he deserves everything that you have to offer.
★ He will be very cautious any time you are around Kokushibou.

A Lie Is Beautiful For The Same Reason It Is Terrible
Tumblr media
It wasn’t often that he came here.
For some unknown reason the place brought him comfort.
Maybe it was the way the moonlight reflected off of the water, the calming breeze that made him feel at peace, maybe this place was important to him when he was still human…
Gentle footsteps broke him out of his trance. He turned his head to get a better look at whatever dared to interrupt his peace and quite. He certainly didn’t expect to be met with nervous eyes and a sheepish smile.
“Sorry,” spoke the woman, “I didn’t mean to interrupt you, this place just calms me down. I’ll let you be now.”
“No, it’s fine.” He spoke.
Why did he say that? It’s not fine, that human disrupted his thoughts so why was he not bothered?
The woman sat down next to him and he finally got the chance to take in her features. She was quite attractive, dare he say beautiful. Her face was slim with high cheekbones and plump lips. Her eyes were gentle and comparable to the rarest of diamonds. Her hair-
“She is just a human,” he reminded himself.
He could tell she had caught him staring by the soft blush that adorned her face and the way she looked down at her lap.
“I’m sorry for not introducing myself, my name is Y/N L/N,” she spoke gently, clearly nervous.
Muzan simply nodded in response, why was she so kind to him? He could kill her in speeds beyond comprehension, why was she not afraid?
He looked to his side and saw the woman with a gentle smile on her face, her eyes gleaming and reflective of the moonlight.
“Muzan.”
“P-pardon?” Stuttered Y/N.
“My name is Muzan.”
“Oh, it’s nice t-to meet y-you, Muzan,” she stuttered with a shy smile on her face.
He couldn’t help but smile back when he saw the way her eyes crinkled and face heated up.
She giggled softly as she reached over to his head and pushed a strand of hair back.
“Sorry, you just looked uncomfortable.”
If she were anyone else Muzan would have killed her for that action alone. But he didn’t, because she wasn’t just anyone else, she was different and he couldn’t pinpoint how.
“Why are you so kind to me, for all you know I could be a demon,” said Muzan in a smooth voice.
“I realize that, but even if you were a demon I would be the same. I don’t believe anyone is truly bad, nobody should be disrespected so casually,” she said with a smile, her voice getting quieter towards the end.
This woman. Something about her is intriguing to him. She is calm, kind, and clearly holds no fear towards him.
And enigma is the only word appropriate of describing her.
“You sound confident? How is it that no person is truly evil?”
“I don’t know, I just like to believe it. It is a lot easier to be happy if you stop judging and just live.”
He didn’t say anything, instead just nodding.
The two of them sat in a peaceful silence until he sensed the sun beginning to rise. With that in mind, he got up and began to walk away.
“Will I ever see you again?” Asked the woman, clearly hopeful.
“How naive.”
“Perhaps,” he responded.
He wanted to see her again, but it would be selfish. The woman was beautiful, inside and out. But she was human, so painfully human, why would he want to taint something so pure?
Maybe if he was still human the two could have gotten close, maybe even fallen in love…
She provided him with something nobody else ever has, she made him feel human. But he wasn’t human, far from it, he was a monster, someone so innocent shouldn’t have crossed paths with someone like him.
“Your a monster, a selfish one.”
Selfish .With that in mind he made his decision, to see her again, to protect her.
She was his chance to break away from reality, escape the tragedy that was now his existence.
She was his lie, a beautiful lie…
———————————————————————
This was spontaneous and I’m too tired to bother reading it over 😅
Anyways…hope you enjoyed! Anyone want a part 2? If I’d id write one it won’t be good, I don’t know if I should go the angsty route or the softish one. Like I know Muzan is a monster but part of me kinda likes when he is only good to the reader. I’m ranting so I’m gonna end this now…

I never expected you guys to like demon Senjuro so much lol I’m really happy to see that like it was such a random impulse thought but the au has a lot of room for growth
In this post Im gonna establish a few things about what happened to Senjuro and Kyojuro in the events between Senjuro’s “death” and the pillar meeting. I will only cover their relationship and a little bit of Senjuro’s relationship with Tanjiro. The others can come at a different post cause this post is gonna be long lol so I put it under cut cause no one really wants a post to flood their dash
TW: Mentions of death (some are children), mentions of cannibalism (If you’ve seen even the first episode of demon slayer and had no problem, you’re fine with this post. This post is slightly not anime only friendly as I make references to an upper moon and I show a manga only panel as of posting this) Shnjuro gets really depressed but luckily there is no attempted suicide
Senjuro Rengoku
- His class was at the bottom floor and they were cleaning the school (I heard thats a thing in Japan if someone has a better idea on what they’re doing feel free to shoot an ask) when they got attacked
- In canon we dont know his age but I’m gonna guess like 12-14 but in the au he is 13 so he was 12 when he became a demon. A rogue demon attacked Senjuro’s class and Senjuro ran to get help and was fatally injured but still managed run to get help as he was given a nichirin sword and even if it didnt change color he must have known breathing techniques at the very least on a basic level and the demon was too preoccupied with some of the teachers and others trying to kill the demon, of course unaware of what it was except for Senjuro
- Upper moon 4 was sneaking around when he saw the all but dead body of Senjuro and demons really dont have standards for turning people into demons so when he noticed he was alive, turned him into a demon mostly so that if he did find any “evil people” (demon slayers) he could use him as his meat shield alongside his personalities
- When Senjuro woke up as a demon (cause even if he was a breath user he was very inexperienced so Hantengu had no problem making him a demon), he had no memory of his life as a human and looked around trying to find a human to satiate his hunger and saw a human in the distance with someone and began to run to them to satiate his hunger when he felt himself being held back.
- The spirit of Ruka Rengoku gently held her son back and instructed him to not eat humans as that’s not something he should do and even if Senjuro couldn’t recognize the woman holding him back, he found himself obeying her and running to go to a place to hide from the sun
- From that moment on for a few day he would hop from place to place whether underneath homes, in caves or any place he could find to avoid being seen and to be shielded from the sun and found himself growing sleepy so in the cave he hid in, far away from the place he was last in, he closed his eyes and fell asleep for a year
- When he woke up, he had unwittingly burnt away Muzan’s control of him and was unsure on what to do when Ruka’s spirit appeared again telling him that he needs to find his way home. Senjuro wasn’t actually listening to a lot of what she said except one thing stuck to him.
- “Senjuro”, he didn’t know what his name was as a demon but the name seem to stick to him and he figured this must be his name (he would of course be correct)
- When he found himself staying with the Kamaboko squad, having been spared despite being a demon due to him not having any form of aggression to them (something they all noticed due to his general demeanor and their enhanced sense) and Tanjiro could smell he hadnt eaten one human and he invited him to join them. He joined Nezuko in her box (she can grow really really tiny if she wants or is tired)
Reference:
Tumblr media
Kny chapter 85
- He joined for two reasons: One, he was really scared of people and demon slayers especially so when Tanjiro offered him the chance to be able to be safe and hide he took it. Secondly, he wasn’t sure but the smile Tanjiro gave and his warm reassurance reminded of him of someone, when he thought hard he only saw blurry shadows and got a headache so didn’t try to push it
- Tanjiro did ask him in the wisteria house while Zenitsu was chatting with Nezuko and Inosuke was off being Inosuke about his past and Senjuro told him about his brief meetings with a woman with black hair and asks if they’ve met before as he feels familiar
- This is where he gets the idea that the woman with black hair (Ruka) is his mother and Tanjiro guesses that the person that he thinks is Tanjiro must be his father (right on the first part Tanjiro but wrong on the second lol, you tried)
- He wears a cyan yukata with a new hakama pants as the clothes he was previously wearing was the same bloodstained clothes he wore after turning into a demon and Tanjiro didnt want to leave him in that. Tanjiro thought to get him a gag but the idea made Senjuro uncomfortable so Tanjiro made him swear to never eat a single human
- In Mount Nagatumo, he was too scared to jump out to protect Tanjiro like Nezuko but when she gets sliced up he leaves the box to watch her while Tanjiro fights Rui, unfortunately he is caught in Rui’s webs like Nezuko and was saved from it by Nezuko flames (though it did burn him a fair bit, Nezuko would apologize to him for this later)
- Giyuu doesn’t kill Senjuro cause his resemblance to Kyojuro despite the different clothes and demon eyes is clear to anyone who can see and Shinobu also finds herself hesitating but shakes those feelings off as Kyojuro deserves better than to see his little brother as a demon. Luckily Giyuu stops him and Senjuro runs with Nezuko and Tanjiro but is later taken back to the demon slyer corps by a Kakushi who put him and Nezuko back in their box
- When Sanemi stabbed the box, he moved to try and protect Nezuko but the box was too cramped and they both got stabbed despite his efforts. Later when he tries to bait him with his marechi blood, he’s too focused on resisting the blood and on Nezuko who he had grown to see as a sister to care about the wide eyed looks the pillars were giving him.
Kyojuro Rengoku (I am so sorry in advance Kyojuro simps I put this man THROUGH IT)
- He had just finished a mission and was going to get another mission when a crow he hadn’t seen work in years came flying to him, obviously panicked telling him how Senjuro’s school was attacked and how no one can find Senjuro among the bodies. The crow was Shinjuro’s
- When he hears that, all the kakushi and other demon slayers present would say they had never seen the flame pillar run so frantically, he only stopped to apologize briefly if he bumped into someone while running but the only thing racing in his mind was his little brother who had no weapon to defend himself with. He forced the image of his brother being nothing but a corpse away only thinking about saving Senjuro
- When he reached the school, he forced himself to calm down. Panicking isn’t going to magically bring Senjuro to him so he needs to keep himself in check because with so many people dead, he’s not the only one concerned over the kids
- There were no survivors on the area that was attacked, the police were there investigating the deaths of the many children and teachers, Kyojuro had to spend time convincing the police he was with them and to be allowed to investigate as well
- With no survivors, he heard from the police that there was a blood trail when they got there and he went to find the trail, when he reached the end of it where there were no traces of Senjuro but since the people there were untrained civilians, Senjuro was the only possible person to have been there
- He spent multiple days searching, Mitsuri was at one point sent to check on him and it was clear he was pushing himself, as days passed by, his composure and bright demeanor were crumbling and he started latching onto any lead to at the very least find the body of Senjuro to take back home but it was becoming clear that he would never find it and a kakushi had to be the one to tell him that his body was likely eaten to the bone or eaten and discarded to either rot away or eaten by someone else
- Kyojuro took a week off, not just because of the grief he felt at that moment but because he needed to check on his father and make sure he would be okay, the man didn’t even face Kyojuro when he came in to visit, he forced himself to not cry in front of his father as he tried to talk to the man who couldn’t even say a word and just drank away even as his eldest son tried to talk to him
- Servants were hired to monitor Shinjuro by Kyojuro as he was concerned about his health both physically and mentally but he did notice how Shinjuro never resisted to being taken care of by the people he hired. They reported to him he could be heard muttering Senjuro’s name and even stares at his room for extended periods of time
- When he made his return, he apologized to the pillars for his behavior the past two weeks (even though no one blamed the man, some even said it was okay if he needed more time, they wouldn’t judge) but whenever he was told that he said he had to be strong to protect the weak so he could be someone that could stop families from ending up like his own
- He was far more determined in killing demons, demon attacks had become personal to him now, whenever he saw a demon eating people he found himself wondering what they must’ve thought in the afterlife as the demon desecrated their bodies
- In the pillar meeting, when he was informed of a swordsman who travelled with not one but two demons, he felt disgust as who knows how many humans they could eat. On the way to the meeting, he couldn’t help but notice Shinobu deliberately avoiding him a bit, Giyuu was doing the same but the man never really talked with them much to begin with
- When he saw Senjuro go out of the box with Nezuko, he felt the smile on his face drop and his heart practically sunk to the core of the earth as he saw the unmistakable hair of a Rengoku and the face was so clearly Senjuro’s despite his eyes having a black sclera and his iris and pupil becoming cat like, the pillars had all turned to see if the flame pillar was alright and he could hear Himejima mutter prayers and Mitsuri was on the verge of tears seeing Senjuro alive but as a demon
- He found himself going into denial until Tanjiro, who had been freed as Obanai left to comfort the distressed love pillar, ran and yelled Senjuro’s name and told him to resist his hunger
- “My sister and the other demon with us are different! They would never eat a human!”
- Senjuro was a good kid, he was innocent, kind and a bit on the timid side. He had helped raise him, he knew Senjuro would never want to harrm a fellow human even when threatened.

But can y’all imagine...
How very different KnY would be if told from another character’s perspective? Take literally any demon and suddenly the Demon Slayer Corps are painted in whole different light! In other words, I’m really bitter about the fandom and its hatred against the demons in general or just a few specific characters.
(long post, manga spoilers ahead)
With Muzan, it’s a story of a weak boy who just wanted to have a stronger body and then this shady doctor made him incapable of walking in the sun and forced him to eat human flesh? Like?? That fucks you up man. And then he learns how much of a curse immortality is and starts yearning for companions so he starts making them. His own family had forsaken him for something that initially wasn’t even his fault and now they started hunting down his fellow immortals. And what’s more, they act like they’re in the right!
Let’s take the hand demon from the final selection now, shall we? A little scaredy boy who got turned into a demon and ended up killing his brother without even fully realizing what he had done. Soon after, he was captured by this weird man in a mask and thrown in what is essentially a gladiator arena with dozens of people swarming in to kill him every once in a while. He fights his way through, eventually getting stronger and stronger. Eventually, he falls victim to one of the pupils of the man who captured him.
We’re just making a quick stop at Kyougai here before moving on to the moons. And boy did he deserve better! Kyougai has lived his whole life constantly being told what he was bad at. His writings is called trash, his passion for drumming is looked down upon, he has nobody to love him... There’s a lot more to him than just a frustrated bad guy. He cries when, for the first time in his life, someone gives mild appreciation to something he does. Sadly enough, that only happens on his deathbed.
Rui’s backstory was partially shown but imagine if he were the main focus! A boy so weak he could barely walk, suddenly offered the chance to become stronger. And much like in Muzan’s case, it backfired. This was even more enforced by the fact that his own parents tried to kill him! Then he met with the guy who turned him into this thing in the first place and slowly, he forgot all about his family. Loneliness grasping his childish heart, he eventually starts gathering other demons to create a family to feel those bonds again. He has no idea how families should work so he does it in the only way he can think of. But nobody else likes this. Imagine the betrayal he feels when one of his sisters tries to run away from him! And then he almost dies by the hands of someone who has what he had always craved without doing anything for it (at least from his pov). And by the very end, when he is finally reunited with his parents, when he finally felt the genuine love again, he got sent straight to hell for doing what he had to to survive, without being shown a speck of mercy by his killer.
We don’t know anything about Enmu’s backstory (movie, I’m counting on you!) but even with the little we know, a lot can be worked out. Enmu is loyal to a fault, overall pretty smart, he likes giving people happy dreams. He really just wants to please his master and yet, he’s not even given the small victory of killing a kid.
Or what about Daki and Gyuutarou? Again, we got their backstory but if that was the main focus? We’d get to see so so much more of the abuse they went through, of the hard work Gyuutarou put in for the sake of his sister, how he tried to protect her and make her stand up for herself, how he made sure she knew her worth and didn’t become a prostitute at a young age, how he cherished her and how much she relied on him. When she was getting burnt, did she call out his name hoping he would come and save her? Did she apologize for dying on him? Or Gyuutarou, how did he feel when he found her there? For how long afterwards had he blamed himself? He never let go of those feelings. And then around came a charming stranger and offered them both to live on, even as a single being so they could be even closer! Daki got a position so she didn’t have to do any degradative work ever again, Gyuutarou could protect her way better! They were attacked times and times again by the demon slayers and there were probably many tense moments and yet, they made it out, growing ever stronger together as a team... only to be eventually bested by a half-baked demon, a bunch of children and a very self-centered guy who took himself three wives.
Then we have Gyokko, an unfortunate artist who was most likely never appreciated, no matter how hard he tried. His art was dismissed as broken, imperfect, lacking in talent. And what’s worse, he may have had those feelings too. He knew he didn’t have very good focus, he probably couldn’t give his work as much work as he would’ve liked. After he obtained the capability of increasing his speed enough to nulify this deficit, he also came face to face with many people, many slayers, many pillars even, some of them who mastered the full-focus breathing technique and used it like it was nothing. How did that make him feel? And eventually he died facing someone who had all the focus he ever wanted, with his art and his own form insulted by a mere child.
Hantengu is not talked about nearly enough but can you imagine how he would tell the story? An almost blind beggar, constantly being pushed around because of his poor looks (something he could hardly change), thrown out of everywhere (kind of his fault since he was a thief but if it was his story, we’d get full reasoning), people refused to even talk with him in the end. Finally, he meets someone who gives him power and lets him be stronger so he doesn’t have to beg for everything. He’s still so very scared of everything though and he ends up doing his scary master’s bidding and gets killed by a bunch of violent screaming kids who insult him in every possible way without ever trying to look at things from his side.
Now we come to Akaza. Now here we got a lot of backstory so I’ll just skim over it real quick. In order to help his sick father, this good son stole money for the medicine and constantly got beaten up by the officials, simply because he wanted to help. His father died because he thought he was being a burden. Or, from Akaza’s point of view, his father died because he was too weak not to get caught. Can you imagine the shame? The pain? He eventually got taken in by a kind master, fell in love with a sweet girl and was supposed to marry her. And then his whole world suddenly crumbled down again. Everyone he cared about died and he couldn’t help them. Can you imagine how much he beat himself up over it? He became a demon but even after that, he would never eat girls. He just wouldn’t, it was too much for him. And yet, he managed to grow stronger. His end actually wasn’t all that tragic as he met up again with his wife, though both of them ended up burning in hell yet again.
Now we’re getting to Douma, and this one I’ll have lots of fun with. So this story is again about a little boy. This time, he’s not weak. This time, he’s not petty. He’s beautiful and everyone loves him. A lot. Too much even. He has no relationship with his parents because they don’t treat him like a human, they treat him like a medium. Everyone does. He can’t go outside to play with his peers, he’s stuck inside the temple, listening to people complaining about their miserable lives. That’s literally his entire life. Just frustration upon frustration upon frustration. Slowly, he starts going numb towards all of this. When something repeats for too long, a person will stop reacting naturally. That leads him to believe he’s emotionless. His father cheats on his mother constantly with other women from the cult, the bitterness grows with every day. Until one day, she snaps and kills him and then herself. But because Douma has no relationship with them and because of how much pain was already pushed onto him from others, he doesn’t have a reaction. He knows he can’t really help anyone. He doesn’t have that kind of power. So when the opportunity offers itself, he jumps after it. Since he’s numb to pain, he thinks, he is always happy. And he’s immortal now. So everyone he consumes can be just the same for sure! Later on, he meets Gyuutarou, a pitiful man clinging to his dying sister. And what does he do? He helps them out. And he takes responsibility for them later on as well. He strives to become strong, he strives to get along with everyone. Just the sheer amount of times he tries to spend time with someone only to be shut down shows a lot about how lonely he actually feels, even if he doesn’t call it that way. When Kotoha comes to the temple, he accepts her even with a child and if there’s one thing you can clearly see in his expression whenever he looks at her, it’s the warm, soft feeling of genuine affection, if not down-right love. Her refusing to let him explain why he does what he does and running off after insulting him? That had to hurt terribly. And she even threw her own baby off a cliff rather than to let him take care of the boy. The demon hunters coming to kill him? They want to ruin everything he tried so hard to keep together. He kills them and grants them the happiness he brings to his followers whenever he has enough time to do it. He dies at the hands of a spiteful woman who doesn’t know anything about him and is blinded by hatred and rage, a little girl who insults his feelings towards his friends while not really having any right to speak (her own emotions are way more broken than his and, arguably, for pettier reasons) and the child who’s mother he sheltered and who threw him aside.
That was long but we finally got to Kokushibou! Now, here it gets shorter again because, come on, chapter 177 gave us such a good POV on him! Though if the whole story was from his perspective, we’d deffinitelly get so much more! The utter sense of betrayal when his father after years of his hard work decided to abandon him as an heir, the overwhelming desire to at least match his brother, to at least be on equal grounds with him and then the crushing defeat when he realized he could never be like him, his lifespawn was running thin and his brother would probably surpass him even in that. He became a demon for the sole purpose of besting his brother and yet, he was never able to. As an unfulfilled revenge, his brother died before Kokushibou could strike him down. And now fast-forward some time and he’s stuck babysitting supposedly some of the strongest demons except they constantly bicker about petty things, can’t respect authority or in some cases get scared so easily he has to wonder how did they get there in the first place. His own descendant tries to kill him and refuses his offer to join Muzan’s side. And he dies because of a moment of weakness, bested once again, never to live to see the day when he would truly be the most powerful swordsman like was his life-long dream.
Or let’s take a look at Kaigaku. Working his ass off his whole life only to be constantly compared to a weak coward like Zenitsu who couldn’t even show their elder any proper respect. He couldn’t manage to master the first breath of thunder technique no matter how hard he tried and that alone was the reason why his teacher didn’t see him as any better than Zenitsu – someone who never learnt more than one technique! He was finally somewhat appreciated by Kokushibou. That was literally the first person ever to see him as a strong opponent. A demon who originally came to kill him. And he died by the hands of that very same weakling who was the cause of his troubles his whole life.
I could go on and talk about Tamayo, Yushiro, Susamaru, Yahaba, the swamp demon trio, Nakime... I’ll save these for when Nakime’s backstory is revealed and possibly when we get more details on Tamayo and Yushiro. There should also be the replacement upper moon five so let’s wait for that guy.
Side note: I’m purposedly emitting Nezuko since 1) she’s not a standard demon in the series and 2) she’s one of the main protagonists so we already see the story from her perspective about as much as we see it from Tanjiro’s.

I hate you, I love you
Tanjiro x Reader
Warning: Spoilers ahead! Angst(?)
I warned you guys!
Tumblr media
You despised him
You hate his kind demeanor. You hate how kind he is to you and to others. You hate his kind smile, his pure aura, and conscience. You hate everything he is.
You first met him in the final selection, a loud, obnoxious brat is what you think he is. So, when he broke the other kid's hand, you gave them a confused and judging look. Which made awkward to everyone else there. You just sighed, grabbed your ore and walk away.
Then, you met him in the infinite mansion, with a box in his back and a coward blonde boy getting dragged away. You pay no mind to them, but what made you stop and wait for them was the box he entrusts with the kids.
'A treasure? No that can' t be right?'
You told him that there is no way a demon can go back to human.
“Have you seen her save your brother?”
“No, but--”
“Then she may have eaten all of them, hurt them! Demons are heartless bastards that think they can get away from everything!”
“Nezuko isn’t like that! The blood in her hands and body is from protecting our siblings!”
But now, you saw her, running towards his brother.
And then, at the wisteria house, were you just learned that the pure pink aura that is emerging from the box is from her demon sister. It totally dropped your guard but  you prepared your sword to slice the demon's neck but stopped when Tanjiro gets in between you.
"That's my sister!" he exclaimed. "Don't worry, she didn't eat anyone."
"Not yet" you said, putting your sword beside you, still wary of his demon sister.
You shouted for his sister, to stay away from him as soon as possible. Because, you saw his aura, from a pure, shining sun... Turned into bloody red that made you sick.
You hate it.
I wanted to puke...
Then, you saw his powerful breathing. 'Is it possible to change your breathing form?' you questioned yourself as both of you worked on how to end the spider demon's life.
You hate it when he changed everyone around you and him. Inosuke can’t bring himself to cut his neck. So you prepared your sword, chipped from your fight earlier with Muzan. The Hashiras are now healing themselves except for the Water pillar, who just saved a kakushi.
You hate his kindness changed everyone... Even you...
So with hatred boiling within yourself, your temperature rose and marks started to appear in your body.
We can’t bring themselves to kill him... Dammit... I would do it
You lounge yourself towards him, aiming at his neck.
Then, you are stuck. In Shinobu's medical care. With Zenitsu and Inosuke.
Shinobu gave you a warning. You have heart problems. So, your life is on the line.
"With a heart like that, you should've live until your 10 years old. But due to your breathing technique, you managed to live yourself until today." Shinobu said, with a smile on her face. "But if you faint once again, I don't know if that'll be your end. So you can stop being a slayer if you want your life to--"
You cut her off and smiled. "I... Want to be a demon slayer. That'll prove to myself that I am not useless..."
Shinobu only chuckled.
At night, you trained your breathing in the rooftop. Then the following nights, you are seating with Tanjiro as he tried to focus. The two of you got a visit from the insect pillar and gave you two an advice.
Though, you never needed to train more since you've been applying it to your whole life.
The fire pillar complimented him before he died. He will be a great pillar and you agree with it. He and the others and bawling. You? You can't cry, you can't feel sadness nor happiness. Or any extreme emotions. But the fire pillar is understanding because you lowered your head instead of crying.
You stopped when the sword land on his neck, your sword suddenly slip from your grip as you see stars in your eyes. You heard someone shouted your name, you never got to move, you never got a chance to dodge the whip-like tentacle that emerges from his back. You came to contact with the building he threw you in, then to the ground. Your ears are ringing, heck, you can’t even hear Inosuke’s and Nezuko’s voice shouting your name.
The time sound pillar kidnapped one of girls in the butterfly estate, you saw him fight said pillar. So, with them fighting, you assist Aoi and the triplets inside.
"Thank you y/n!" Tanjiro said when he saw you catch one of them. And it was chaos ensued after they scurried them outside.
You followed them, you knew that they're going undercover in red light district and you offered your help in doing their makeup and choosing the right kimono.
You’re busy covering Tanjiro’s scar when you notice him looking at you. So, when you guys locked with each other’s sight, both of you blushed.
“I-I uhm...” He scratched his cheek. “I’m sorry about that! You were so close and I just notice that your eyes are beautiful and...”
Zenitsu shrieked from the next room to stop Tanjiro from rambling features. “YOU’RE GOING TO SELL US?! NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY!”
For once, you’re thankful for Zenitsu’s cowardness.
Tanjiro excused himself to calm Zenitsu down. Your cheeks are still warm and red. You covered your mouth from the incoming smile that has brought to your lips. You can feel your heart beat racing so you distract yourself from something else.
That is to clean the whole room even though it’s squeaky clean.
When all of you are in the Red Light District, the sound pillar made you step aside and sit with him, observing the district. You listen to his stories when you asked him about his wives.
And when the battle started, you saw him, trying his best to save everyone. For the first time, you saw two auras emerging from him. When you get to have a better look of his state, you saw him...
Bleeding from his eyes. The limit!
When you saw him in that state, you keep on shouting.
"TANJIRO! BREATHE!" you shouted, again and again, slashing the sash that is annoyingly attacking you and the others.
You heard him coughed. When the upper moon 6 realize that his guard is down, you risk your life to remove him in that place and put him in some safe place. With a few slashes on your body, you reassured him that he needs to focus on him self first and go back if he’s okay to fight.
After the battle, you're tired, you want to close your eyes and stop breathing.  The few slashes you came contact with was from the poison-user demon. You smiled, looking at the moon, embracing death.
But that stopped when you felt someone tapped you. It was Nezuko, she activated her blood demon art.
"Nezuko, I love you and all but isn't it too early to be cremated?" you jokingly asks but you don't care anymore. This is the last mission you'll attend.
"I don't know what happened but it works to Uzui-san. It removed our poison!" you heard the sweet voice you don't want to hear. And when you saw him smile...
You hated it...
“Please brother!” you heard her say, you opened your eyes and saw Nezuko is still clinging into her brother. “Please don’t kill anyone!”
His mouth was wide open, a ball of energy is prepared to be released and you slowly stood up, breathing heavily. You walk towards them-- no you needed to run. You saw how Nezuko stopped that energy with her hand. It was an idiotic move but you noticed how she was still clinging into him even though he tasted her blood.
Then you saw Kanao, running towards both of them and she jumped, she impaled something into him and you heard her say:
“That’s enough, Tanjiro.”
You caught Kanao just in time and helped her with her injuries as fast as you can. When you’re finished, you grabbed his hand, his demon eyes look at you and your tear-stained face.
“Come back home...” You sadly smiled as blood trickling down to your chin. “Didn’t you promise? You can’t make Nezuko cry... You’re still going to buy her a new kimono, right?”
In the sword smith’s village, Tanjiro made new pals which it annoys you. Both yours and his sword are chipped but he’s worried that he won’t be getting a new sword soon.
And you were absolutely annoyed that Tanjiro talked to the Love pillar then blood came out of his nose. Both you and Nezuko are shocked but you, aside from shock, annoyance and jealousy you felt. But you’re hoping he won’t smell it, so you immediately go to your room and sleep.
The next morning, you’re walking to the forest and notice that the mist pillar is bullying someone younger then him. You’re about to stop both of them but Tanjiro interfered and chaos began. So, you just stood there, watching him.
In every training, you’re just fixated on his moves and you noticed that he’s improving a lot. You’re shocked that he broke the old doll which made you reveal yourself and scold him. Your scolding stopped midway when the three of you looked at what the doll has become.
Who would’ve thought that sword will change the pace?
Many things have happened in that village.
You saved the mohawk boy, whom Tanjiro said that his name is Genya. The demons grazed him on the neck and to pay his debt, he throw himself in front the both of you as Tanjiro catches you from falling off the tree. Then, a sixth demon appear, which infuriated both of you as Genya finds the true body.
Both of you were saved by the Love Pillar. So when she was knocked out by the demon’s screech, you came in to cut off his incoming punch and Tanjiro and the others wake her up.
The four of you team up to find the real body. Tanjiro found it and he cut the head off. Dawn is almost showing and the body is still moving. You were busy stopping Tanjiro’s swordsmith and you watched the scene unfold.
Nezuko threw his brother towards the body. You bit your lip and shouted. “Go! Nezuko will be alright! Don’t worry about her.” So you remove yourself from the swordsmith and immediately throw yourself to Nezuko to cover her.
Just then, you noticed that the burns have stopped. So, you let her stand and you saw Tanjiro with wide eyes.
“M-morning”
You saw him cried, he came running towards both of you and hugged. “Thank the Gods! Thank the Gods!” He looked at you and your forehead connected to each other. “Thank you...” and he slowly slump into your arms.
You hate this feeling that he gave you. Whatever was that, you hope that you’ll forget it.
When Tanjiro opened his eyes, everyone was relieved. His head was on your lap. You both lock eyes and you smiled.
“Welcome back”
He begins to cry when he noticed your wounds and the others. “I’m sorry... Are your wounds okay?”
“The injuries you made me...” Inosuke stated, trying to hold his tears but failed. “Are not a big deal...”
“For the rest of your life, I will make you regret for this,” Zenitsu said as tears falling down his cheeks. “Also for what you did to my wife.”
Nezuko looked at him confused and worried.
“Kanao!” You shouted, the smile never leaves off your features. “He’s awake!”
You felt your world getting dizzy, so you laid upside down beside him as you felt your heart slowly beating. You closed your eyes and connected both of your foreheads as you caress his cheek.
It’s my time as well...
I hate it you pulled a stunt like that...
You both looked at each other as the light on your eyes started to fade away.
“I love you”
With those final words, you released your final breath.
Tanjiro and Nezuko looked at you, worried, shouting your name. But you lie there, smiling as your hand that caress his cheek was taken in between his hands as he prayed to the Gods to give you back.

Hey there! Could you do a soulmate au with Giyuu where there's a timer on your wrist that counts down to when you meet your soulmate. Giyuu's timer reaches zero when he comes upon a female demon who was just created (she hasn't eaten anyone yet). You can decide how it ends!
Hey! I'm sorry for being too late but school just began in my country and it has been difficult to find time! I hope you like it!
Everyone has a timer in their wrist counting the time that you have left to meet your soulmate. Giyuu never cared a lot about it. He didn't feel like he deserved a soulmate. 'I can't protect them'. That thought is always in his mind.
So his goal wasn't really finding his soulmate. Instead, he tried to keep his mind occupied with other things. Like the Demon Slayer Corps.
Today was one fo those days where he went on a mission. Oyakata-sama sent him in search of Muzan. One crow saw him in a mountain. It was snowing and cloudy.
Giyuu speed up to reach the place faster. He hadn't notice how the timer in his wrist had only minutes left to reach zero.
- Meanwhile -
Tanjirou and Nezuko were trying to carry their older sister to town. Tanjirou went to seal charcoal with Nezuko, at the time they arrive home the next morning they found their little sibling and mother murdered but their older sister was still a little warm so they hurried and made their way to their destination full of sorrow and sadness in their beings.
Y/N always took care of them, helping their mother in the house work and other things. Being a twenty year old woman, she cared more about her family that her soulmate. But Nezuko and Tanjirou knew better. Sometimes they caught her looking at her writs where the timer was, her eyes full of hope and wanting. But with them, she never paid attention to it.
"SO PLEASE Y/N, DON'T DIE!" the two kids yell in hope that some miracle happen but instead they heard growling from their sister who began moving frantically.
She got out of their grip and took a look at Nezuko and Tanjirou.
"Y/N?! Don't push yourself too much! We're going to take you to a medic!" Tanjirou tried to approach Y/N.
"Yeah! Y/N-nee! Please, let us help you! Please!" Nezuko stay behind trying to talk to her.
Y/N just kept growling and backing away. Tanjirou and Nezuko didn't know what to do but after some minutes, the two kids saw Y/N crying and trying to reach out to them. Cautious to what she could do, the two kids began to get closer until Tanjirou felt a presence.
From behind Y/N was coming a man with a sword, Tanjirou felt the intention so his first instinct was to push his sister away with all his strength to save her from the man.
Giyuu stopped in front of the kids giving them a blank stare. Then he turned around to look at the demon in front of him who was back at growling. He felt something in his wrist the moment he meet the eyes of the woman in front of him who was turned into a demon. Ignoring the feeling he took the first chance strike at her.
"Leave her alone! She is our big sister! Please!" Tanjirou tried to stop Giyuu taking his arm preventing him to move forward. Nezuko did the same.
"She didn't killed anybody! Please, I beg you! Don't kill her!"
Giyuu got out of their hold easily, hitting Tanjirou with the handle of the sword and pushing Nezuko far away.
He began to fight with Y/N. The pain in his wrist began to feel stronger, making him distracted for a second. Y/N took the opportunity to run to her siblings.
'Damn it! She is going to eat them!'
But he saw something different, everything was in slow motion. Giyuu couldn't believe that a demon was protecting other humans.
Stopping for a second, he just stared at the imagine in front of him. Getting out of it when Y/N began attacking him again.
'Maybe they are different... Maybe this girl... Can go back to be a human... To find her soulmate...'
He hit her with the handle of his sword just like the boy before, making Y/N unconscious. Now he was to wait for the kids to wake up.
He didn't know the reason of thinking about the girl's soulmate in that moment. He always thought that he didn't care. That's what he always told himself at least. Looks like deep down, he cared.
Thinking about soulmates made him remember about the feeling in his wrist. Now that he was waiting for the kids to wake up and help them with their sister he could look at it.
Moving the clothe out of the way, he finally got to look at his wrist. He was met with pure zeros in his timer. Giyuu felt his heart stop for a moment. Without realizing, his eyes were already looking at Y/N. He didn't know why.
Now, Giyuu wasn't a person with a lot of confidence nor interest in soulmates, but after this encounter he found himself wanting to know about it. So he began walking towards the girl turned into a demon. He took her wrist were the timer is supposed to be. He found that hers was just like him.
He didn't know what to do now. What was he supposed to do now? His soulmate is a demon. Did this happen to someone else or something? He didn't know.
After hearing someone talk, he moved away from the girl. Tanjirou and Nezuko were waking up. The first one to stand up was the girl who began to look around. Giyuu guess that it was in search of his, now, soulmate.
Nezuko run to her sister, Tanjirou close behind her.
"Hide her from the sun." Giyuu notice how the kids jumped from his voice. "Is she your sister?" he was leading into a tree.
"Yes!" Tanjirou answered him while Nezuko took care of Y/N. "Can you please help us?!"
"I can't help you. There's no known way to turn a demon into a human again." Giyuu really didn't know what to do. Help them? But there was really no cure for a demon.
"We'll find one!" he saw the younger girl talk from her spot. He saw the determination in these kids to save their sister.
"Go with Urokodaki Sakonji. Join the Demon Slayer Corps. Maybe in that journey you'll find a cure."
And with that being his last words. Giyuu left. He didn't believe in miracles. But even without believe in them, he chose to wait for one and be able to meet with his soulmate again.

To the Future - Demon Slayer’s Ending
Tumblr media
When I first heard rumors about Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ending a few months ago, I was shocked to hear about the manga ending so soon. I thought there were some other mysteries to be unraveled after this. Then while reading through the final arc, it started to feel that this was it.
And after only 205 chapters, Demon Slayer is known as one of the very few popular manga that reached insane heights in terms of sales, but not continuing on for the sake of popularity.
(Huge spoilers incoming after the jump)
The final arcs happened somewhat quickly as all the Demon Slayer Corps banded together in a desperate attempt to finish off their eternal nemesis, Muzan Kibutsuji, for good. Muzan, with whoever was left of his elite army (the Upper Moons of the Mizuki), visits the HQ of the Corps to finish off them off for good and ends up being caught in an elaborate plan to defeat him. A good number of notable characters (almost all of the Hashira and all of the Miuki) die throughout the process. Tanjiro ends up taking out Muzan despite being injected in one eye with demon blood during the fight. Muzan tries to possess Tanjiro after his defeat through his demon blood, but Tanjiro rejects him thanks to his friends. Nezuko finally becomes human too. All is well. The final chapter fast-forwards from the Taisho era to the 21st century where the descendants of all the major characters are living in peaceful times.
One of the things I liked about Demon Slayer is how the deaths of the Hashira have been used to help Tanjiro get better. Their whole lives were dedicated to defeating Muzan for good. With Tanjiro arguably being their best chance since he actually met Muzan back in the beginning of the series, the Hashira had to put their faith in him. It started with Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Pillar. His death at the end of the Infinity Train arc was shocking to me as I didn’t expect a major hero character to die after debuting for a short while (he was on the cover of Volume 8 too). Yet Kyojuro was willing to accept dying as long as he was able to protect humans and anyone he cared about from demons. His last words to Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira were touching and truly spoke to the power of the human spirit.
Not only were the Hashira deaths impactful, so were the demons’ deaths. Almost every member of Muzan’s Mizuki/Twelve Demon Moons army had flashbacks. I feel they were mostly well-done. It’s hard to say which one was my favorite. I still feel Rui’s flashbacks still spoke to me much better than the others because struggles to find/build a family are super-relatable.
The major deaths on both sides seem to highlight how we all lose something important as we grow as people. The Hashira and Mizuki were expected to give their lives as needed to serve their respective masters. Someone told me that the only certain things about the future are that we will experience great joy and tragedy. Both do come hand-in-hand.
It takes a group of people to make something of tragedy in a way that helps everyone affected by it. Hard work isn’t enough. I did like that the final battle with Muzan took the efforts of the Demon Slayer Corps as one collective unit to kill him. Tanjiro isn’t Goku, Ichigo or Saitama; he’s just a boy with great potential who wanted to wanted to make his sister human again. A good number of the Demon Slayer battles were team efforts honestly.
A lot of amazing progress can be made due to multiple sacrifices for the greater good. It may come down to just a matter of not being afraid or jumping in with that fear. I think that’s another thing that comes to mind when it came to reading through Demon Slayer - the Mizuki were so afraid of dying or losing meaning in their lives when their past human lives were filled with so much loss. They subjected themselves to Muzan’s tyranny to ease their uncertainty at the cost of their humanity. The Hashira were the opposite of that. They knew that despite whatever bad things people were capable of, they were also capable of being good.
I think that’s what I enjoyed most about Demon Slayer - the fact it acknowledges we all can be demons and we can choose not to be. I mean, we had two demon characters (Yushiro and Tamayo) that chose to fight back and both had major roles in the end in killing Muzan. Of course, we all can be good and choose to be demons ourselves. It just comes down to how we process the eventual losses in our lives and that in order for them to be processed, we have to be able to let in people who want to genuinely help us.
Demon Slayer’s all about having a sense of family and community because they are what helps people become resilient in the face of overwhelming tragedy. For a country like Japan that values those sentiments, I see why it’s a title for the manga record books.
Also, with it ending at around 23 volumes, I’m glad Demon Slayer wasn’t extended longer than it needs to be. We’re in a time where almost everyone is trying to be popular or gain some higher status and maintain it via whatever means necessary. Demon Slayer was trying to be likable enough to many. It’s not the most well-written or complex shonen series out there, but it’s well-liked. I think Koyoharu Gotoge (the series’ author) was trying to tell a story that spoke to an audience trying to balance Eastern and Western influences in their own country.
Plus, it’s okay to give up on or quit something of great importance when the process may end up taking a great toll on your well-being. Having a measure of self-respect is an undervalued quality. In a strange way, Gotoge ending the series on their own terms illustrates what I said earlier about sacrificing today for a possible better tomorrow. You don’t know want to be known as just one label when you’re so much more than that. Human beings are full of all kinds of interests and emotions. I guess that’s how I see it since a good amount of people don’t like to think of others as more than black-or-white in most cases.
Anyway, it’s been a pleasure, Gotoge-sensei and Demon Slayer. I know the popularity for the anime will still be around for a while, but it’s amazing to see how the manga sold like hotcakes in 2020 compared to 2019. Yusuke Murata, of Eyeshield 21 and One Punch Man fame, said that Demon Slayer has done wonders for the manga industry as a whole. I believe that.
Here’s to a future of new and continued manga readership that can transform loss into something amazing that can last for generations to come.

Kimetsu no Yaiba Chapter 184 Review
youtube
The heated battle between Yushiro and Muzan has come to an end. The victory goes to the Slayers for they have brought Muzan to the surface. All they have to do now is to keep him around and kill time for the sun to rise. All of which are far easier said than done. No matter where they are, the danger remains red alert.
The last chapter was really intense in many ways. Although the main battle is not over, it was a huge sigh of relief with Yushiro practically won the struggle. It’s definitely good news, but the bad news is the location. Tanjiro realizes they are in the middle of the city. Their intention was to relocate closer to their base. I don’t know how much this would affect the Pillars aside of reinforcements being left behind, but hopefully no citizen will come out to complicate things.
To add more troubling news, Kiriya is informed that the dawn will arrive in one and a half hours. I hope they have an amazing movie to distract Muzan. Imagine implying Dragon Ball time logic; that would be a nightmare. Not to mention, it will be 10 volumes long. But seriously, that’s pretty damn long. At least the Pillars are fine, so that’s a relief. Funny that Kanroji was the only one feeling the pain from the crash. The element of surprise with other characters are still intact. All they have to do is to continue holding Muzan down. God speed.
With plenty of troubling news, Muzan in rage mode tops them all; the worst case scenario. Destroying the construction with ease is enough to believe the Pillars are entering “prepare to die” mode. This feels like a video game scenario. You have the final boss breaking free like nothing, about to unleash multiple strikes for the Pillars, and the only way to win is time limit. Basically, this is straight-up hell.
Once again, the action is unnerving with the intensity rising with each page. It’s pretty cool for the action to increase from two Breathing Form attacks to three with Giyu, Iguro, and Kanroji going at it. Sadly, Muzan is fast as hell for them to pull it off, so they resort to evasive maneuver. That’s still impressive enough. Amazing that Giyu is willing to fight with a broken sword. That’s hardcore; whatever it takes. If fast reaction isn’t terrifying enough, try regeneration for shock value.
Iguro makes contact with his sword to Muzan’s neck. Even though he knows Muzan won’t lose from it, it’s better than nothing. Plus, breaking him apart will slow him down significantly. That would have been a great idea if his regeneration wasn’t fast as hell. His neck recovers immediately after it was cut. That’s insane. You basically have to cut him at light-speed. That or at least find a way to slow down his regeneration speed.
It makes me wonder how the hell they can kill time when they may be the one to be killed instead. In fact, the next moment has all Pillars except Tanjiro get really close to Muzan in which gives him the best chance to kill them with his spears. I don’t know if Croc-sensei is testing the fans or not, but placing Kanroji on panel before revealing the outcome, implying her end is here is not cool. It aches me to believe the worst outcome. What happens next however was unexpected; at least to me.
It resulted with reinforcements of Slayers saving the Pillars from their immediate death, but in return, sacrifice their lives. It’s quite mind-blowing for many reasons. One is the double-page spread. I thought it’s well-implemented to create a gasping moment; it sure had me doing so. Second is the use of these characters. I mentioned in my last chapter’s review on how Croc-sensei utilized fodders in a surprisingly good meaningful way. This one is far more apparent than the small detail from before. Lastly, I was left amazed by their action.
The fodder is treated as a hype buff for the next challenger. In this case, however, it’s different. We know the capability of Muzan. We don’t need a hype buff. What we didn’t think we need is the showmanship that grasped our attention to honor their bravery. On top of that, their motivation makes it better. They’re not taking action to steal the Pillars’ spotlight with arrogance or believe they can win for themselves. They’re willing to die to protect Pillars because it’s their way to pay tribute to them. That’s strikingly admirable. Rarely, fodders are treated more than simple sacrifices; I actually felt their action. I believe it’s safe to say, these fodders are the best fodders in Weekly Shounen Jump today.
Tanjiro and others react to their sacrifices, which help out the effect. It would have hurt otherwise. I thought Tanjiro being protected was a great small moment that perfectly described the emotional weight from all grounds. This is not what everyone wanted, but it’s the only way to advance. That’s true terror. Tanjiro gets back to action, but suddenly stops and spits out blood. At first, I thought he tripped due to exhaustion or low on stamina. It wouldn’t explain the blood part, but that’s how it looked like. But the truth is far worse than I expected.
Tanjiro begins to suffocate horribly and his face, notably the damaged eye area, swells up. It actually left me feeling uncomfortable. It turns out Muzan has injected his attacks with his own blood, but not to change them into demons, rather infected them. Tanjiro was caught last time, which makes sense on why only him and not Pillars. It destroys the cells and eventually, lead the victim to death. In short, Tanjiro is a goner. Well, that’s one way to ensure this series won’t have another arc.
In all seriousness, I don’t think he’s going to die here. However, it doesn’t take away the shock value. It’s quite unsettling; it had fans horrified. If you can make them believe a possible death, you know you won their attention. As of now, I’m pondering where this leads to. Will Tanjiro miraculously escape death with lineage connection? Will Nezuko appear to save him? Will Tanjiro become a demon instead? There’s so many possibilities. The cliffhanger has me aching for the answer.
This was a really engaging chapter. Although the Pillars are on surface, nothing has decreased the danger level; maintaining the sheer intensity level. Arguably, it has gotten worse. The action was unnerving. The use of fodders was incredible in its own right. The artwork is clean. The cliffhanger left me completely interested yet scared for what comes next for Tanjiro. It’s possible for an asspull to occur; don’t know if this is the time for one. I doubt he will die. But if he does, life will never be the same again.

!!! Similar to what you did with Kamanue (the babiest baby of all babies) could you please write a mini analysis/general hcs for Susamaru? I love her so much
@kimetsuno-yaiba-imagines This probably isn’t you but I’m writing about your girl so I thought I’d tag you. Sorry if I don’t do her justice!
So this is then the third in the General + Past headcanon series! I’ll link the other two at the end of this post just in case anyone is interested in my takes on the others.
General Susamaru headcanons
I’ll open it up with the obvious this time. You would hardly find a more playful demon than Maru-chan. It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel like playing with her, if she says you will, you don’t have the right to refuse. If you try that, she will make sure you know why it’s a bad idea. You will be lucky if you live to get another chance.
It doesn’t even matter all that much whether it would be playing with the temari or with something else, though if you choose the former, she will be much more pleased. But she will also enjoy other outdoor activities. Sports, of course, are her strongest suit.
She is quite good at most calmer activities as well. Most board games are a-ok with her. She doesn’t appreciate long strategy-based games though so don’t bother asking her for a game of chess. The most you would get out of her is playing for a few minutes before she would start flinging the pawns at you.
Karaoke. Take her to a karaoke night and you’re about to witness a real monster. You thought you took a cute girl out for a date? Hah! This cute girl will utterly destroy you no matter what song you pick. She can do anything, and I mean absolutely anything, from opera to metal, her vocal range is just as impressive as her football skills.
Despite all of this, she will still enjoy it when you call her cute – even if she won’t tell you. She might scoff and deny it, saying she’s powerful and scary and cool but there’s really a little part deep inside her that still enjoys that for reasons I will more expand on later.
She tends to get carried away really easily. It’s not unlikely for her to receive a mission that’s supposed to be stealthy but end up entirely blowing up the place. But well, if nobody is alive to tell the tale, she did technically go unnoticed, right? It’s not like anyone can pin the blame on her if she’s quick enough to disappear before anyone can come and doesn’t leave a trace.
She has a lower pain tolerance than most other demons. Why? Not sure. But when you compare her reaction to Muzan’s curse activating to other demons’ reactions to having their heads off (Rui, Enmu, Wakuraba) or getting their whole body sliced to pieces (spider sister), she still does feel like someone who feels more than she probably should. Or it might just be because Muzan’s curse is simply THAT painful, I’ll leave this one up to you (if it is the pain tolerance, it could hint at something I will mention later on so stay tuned!). Also she actually shrieked when Yushiro punched her and that didn’t even draw blood.
Another one to really idolize and adore Muzan, as seen from her confrontation of Tamayo. While it’s true we never saw any other demon being confronted with anything like that, it’s not unlikely that few of them would react anywhere near the extent of her anger. Much like Tanjiro points out, she is very childish so it’s not completely impossible she sees Muzan as a sort of father figure as well.
I imagine she also hasn’t been a demon for a long time, and neither has Yahaba. Since they don’t seem to know about the eyeball engraving for the Demon Moons and simply believe they’re part of them because Muzan told them so, they probably haven’t met anyone higher in the hierarchy other than Muzan himself.
It’s true that they have only been put together with Yahaba for that one mission but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of them seeing each other before. Naturally, they didn’t talk or anything since demons can’t really group up together for the most part. But it is possible they have at least a little idea about each other’s abilities as well. After all, Tokyo is only so big, it’s highly unlikely they would never run into each other.
She is a surprisingly humble girl for someone of her flashiness. After all, she doesn’t mind Yahaba giving her instructions and even though she clearly finds his worries about dust to be ridiculous, she never puts him down for it. They don’t really bicker either, nor do we ever see him complaining he didn’t support her enough. Oh and let’s not forget she didn’t really think there was a house being hidden and just acted on Yahaba’s orders during the first attack. And she did admit he was right. She also has no issues recognizing Nezuko’s strength. She’s really not a proud girl, just very very dedicated and certain they could win since Muzan trusts in them enough to give such an important mission to them.
Susamaru backstory headcanons
I’ll start, again, by the type of background I see her growing up in. This time, I am quite sure it was a rich family. Not insanely rich but the colour of her kimono as well as the colourful sash were usually a sign of power, influence, money. Not to mention the stripped inner yukata she wears, they’re usually made in plain colours unless you want to show you can afford better. She also has what appears to be pearl earrings, those would without a doubt be expensive. And even if they’re not pearls, the fact she’s the only demon in the series to wear earrings (and the only character aside from Tanjiro’s family) seems to hint on something because as we’ve already estabilished, the past has a lot to do with a demon’s clothes.
But don’t get the wrong idea, they weren’t rich by inheritance or family fortune, both her parents worked very hard to make that kind of money. It’s probable they owned a large company, possibly with an overseas branch (remember the story of KNY is set in early 1910′s so she would become a demon some time before that) that kept them busy most of the time.
Another option is that they might even be a samurai family, just a lesser known one than Kokushibo’s, a smaller clan if you will. And possibly did some business too because by then, it was no longer very benefitial to just be a samurai since the industrialization and all.
Either way, they had little to no time for her. And she didn’t have any siblings. She saw her mother more than her father who was practically absent from her life. This lead to her often being very lonely. And that’s not even mentioning her tomboyish tendencies that caused the girls from her neighbourhood not to want to play with her. Girls playing with boys was being frowned upon, especially since she came from an influential family.
Basically, she needed to be a “proper lady” regardless of whether she wanted to or not simply not to bring shame to her family. She hated it, naturally, but there was little she could do about it. It didn’t get better when she got older.
She might have had a cat. Since temaris are often used to play with them, maybe the cat was the only companion she had. I feel like she’s the type who’d pick up a stray kitten and then refuse to give it up even when her parents (or mother since her dad was never home) were against it. She might have even pulled the “You don’t have time for me so let me have this” card.
She wasn’t even the age to get married yet and people around were already saying she would never find anyone. A lot of them mentioned she’s just not cute, not suited to be a wife, not womanly enough, too wild, too loud, not gentle enough. Her mom often cried over that and it made Maru-chan feel kinda bad. Still, it was a part of herself and she didn’t want to give it up.
She has first met Muzan when she was still quite a little kid. She was hanging out around the house after the sun has gone down, playing with her cat when he walked by. Being the mischievous and fearless kid she was, she threw the temari at him, then straight-up went to ask him if he wanted to play with her.
He was quite tempted to just kill her then and there but she showed a good amount of courage by approaching him in the first place and she didn’t shrink back after seeing his red eyes. I have a feeling she might even call him cool which fluttered his ego just enough to let the little cupcake live. No, he didn’t play with her.
It wasn’t too long before the troubles of owning a large corporation caught up to them. Her mother ran away with a lover who paid her more attention than her husband and Maru-chan was left alone with their few house servants and her always busy father. In hopes to make it up to her, her father started giving her many presents, such as the afforementioned earrings but, naturally, none of that could really replace the human contact she needed (I imagine she could be some 10-12).
Now for the theory regarding pain tolerance. My theory is that a demon’s ability to tolerate pain grows based on how old they were when they were turned and how much blood have they received over time as well as the number of humans they have devoured. For example, Rui was turned at a very young age but he is a Lower Moon, he received a large amount of blood and he devoured a lot of people, thus, he was able to cut his own head off without much any issue. Rui’s spider mother, however, didn’t receive that much blood and most likely didn’t devour nearly as many people as he did. As a result, both Rui and the spider father could easily cause her a lot of pain. The spider sister was turned into a demon when she was older than her and she ate a fair share of humans so even when Rui cut her body to pieces, she was able to pick herself up rather quickly and run off with just a few hisses. As for where does Maru-chan come in, we know she received a fair amount of Muzan’s blood because she says so to Yahaba. In spite of this, Yushiro’s punch is enough to make her scream out and Muzan’s curse hurts her to the point of tears even before ripping through her. So my explanation for this is, she was turned into a demon at a young age and she didn’t eat that many humans.
Basically, I believe that after her mom left, she no longer had anyone to spend time with in her house, nobody who would care for her. So after her kitty inevitably left this world, she was all alone. This is around the second time she ran into Muzan. And it was she who recognized him before he could recognize her. Once more, she ran up to him, this time not asking to play but rather asking why was he there.
She was very contact starved, alright? Chatting with him was the closest she got to a proper talk since her mom left. And he didn’t really have anything more important to do back then so he suffered through her complaining about her life. She certainly had a lot of bitterness inside of her at that point and she still had that childish courage from when they first met. And she was also just desperate enough that when he asked if she wanted to go with him, she nodded to it without a second thought.
One of the main reasons she admires Muzan so much is that he was the first person to fully accept her. He took her in when her own mother ran away and her father couldn’t care less as long as she didn’t bother him.
The reason she doesn’t look that young is simply because, as mentioned, some demons can shapeshift. Her powers are far from as impressive as Muzan’s but she can at least alter her physical age slightly. Seeing as Muzan can shapeshift to the point where he changes even his own aura and even his fellow demons have troubles recognizing him makes her strive to be like him. The fact that she can do just a speck of what he can is what draws her closer to him. And also why that final betrayal when she gets killed by his curse hurts so much more than just physically.
