ohhhh what if it was ingo who first gave rei the muzzle. bc he knew that the moment muzan forced human blood on him was the moment he lost the battle, when he became demon in truth, and he wants to spare the boy the same fate and will do anything he can to see someone escape the curse. then he passes them in the direction of some other trainer, one who doesn’t have the constant passive threat of slipping into a frenzy state, but still. he gave that first warning: if rei tastes blood, ever, all hope is lost. trust him.

I read Beowulf for a class and for some reason I cant stop thinking about Dragon!Bill, clever and ancient, guarding a hoard... bored to tears. Is Dipper a serf trying to steal gold to buy his own freedom? Or does his accidentally stumble in, trying to hide after being accused of witchcraft? Has he been sent as a sacrifice? Maybe he's also just really bored and wants to head Bill's fabled riddles.

Dragon Bill is always a fun time! You know he's not only hoarding gold but secrets, as well as being A Total Beast of Mass Destruction and Devastating Nuisance in the surrounding area.

I can't believe of all the magic gimmick episodes to make a mess of that BTVS managed to fuck up a time loop. A Buffy time loop episode should be the stuff of legend up there with The No Talky One and The Singy One but no. Life Serial time loop I'm sorry but you're nothing to me. Buffyverse magic is always vaguely defined and the rules change by the episode but the time loop spell Jonathan put on Buffy is so underexplained and overpowered that it severely takes me out of the scene

No one else in the shop but Buffy is aware that they're looping or time passing so is the spell just sending Buffy back in time and no one else? But then how can the Trio watch what's going on with the Magic Box cameras in real time with Buffy/the audience. Are they also looping? Does Jonathan's spell reset time for literally everyone except the three of them and Buffy? Because that means Jonathan, by means of magic bone, is repeatedly sending the entire world back a few minutes, keeping the memories of him, the other casters, and the target intact, until a completely arbitrary task decided by Jonathan is accomplished by Buffy.

Does that mean the awkward customer was part of the spell? Because satisfying an annoying customer was the task Jonathan set out for Buffy, did he just know that lady would be difficult? Did they just wait until a difficult customer showed up and bother Buffy to start the loop? What if none did? Is she a physical illusion or a magic homunculus being difficult under Jonathan's direction? Is she a real person playing out his script under mine control? Because unless it's the contrived coincidence option that's a lot of continuous magic to keep up while also maintaining the time loop, all with what seemed like a damn easy spell.

Why don't we know that spell? Casters' and target's memories unaffected, why didn't the gang cast it on Buffy before The Gift and make the loop breaking condition being defeating Glory without any Scoobies dying? We fail, oh well, try again. We know it doesn't need to be fixed on a room bc it covered the Magic Box and the Nerdmobile (even though trying to leave the shop just reset the loop for Buffy bc this spell just does fucking everything I guess). We know any damage done gets reset bc Buffy broke Giles' glasses and the doorbell and they were fine after a loop so no worries about racking up injuries or wasting the Dagon Sphere. And sure if Jonathan can do it, he of the only reasonably impressive abilities, then experienced Giles or Tara or especially Willow should have no problem whatsoever. And all this for one scene.

Life Serial time loop spell you are my enemy.

so, poke slayer protagonists. i'm sticking with the fire/water/grass thing because obviously

akari (and rei): The Protagonist. the tanjiro and nezuko. siblings, the rest of their family was killed by demons while akari was out and rei was the only one who survived by virtue of being turned into a demon himself. etc. i still like the idea that it's ingo, not a giyu-standin, that they encounter immediately after the attack. i guess she's probably fire for lore reasons?

barry: the youngest, grass. became a demon slayer by virtue of flunking out and/or being fired from every other position for being 1) too loud 2) too impatient 3) too aggressive. and then someone was like "hey, you know where those traits could be an asset" and he signed on nigh-immediately. does not necessarily take The Stakes too seriously, he just wants to hit things (but he still winds up caring a lot about the rest of them, eventually)

lucas: the oldest, water, and the one who takes the Demon Slayer Corps most seriously as a concept. a demon slayer saved his life once, and now he's determined to live up to that ideal. generally the most calm and levelheaded, but he has an unfortunate habit of believing every wild rumor he hears about slayers, even if it's very obviously not something they're actually capable of

me, lying on the floor staring at the ceiling with an uncorked bottle of wine nearby: okay but sure mage slayer made cerrit scary, but that's only because cerrit is a melee fighter. mage slayer is pointless if you're a ranged combatant—you need to be in melee range for it to be beneficial. this doesn't deny the genuine threat of a rogue ranged combatant to even a wizard as beefy as laerryn. if you can't see her, she still gets significant sneak attack against you and your go-to dex based AOEs are functionally useless due to a mix of reliable talent and evasion. and her stealth bonus is super beefed up also due to reliable talent, making it very difficult to spot her, increasing chances of a debilitating sneak attack. so you can't spot her, you can barely hit her, and if you do manage to find her and hit her with a direct spell attack, she can still halve the damage with uncanny dodge, hide, and then hit your ass AGAIN. you can't even reverse gravity on veth—it's a dex save that she auto beats with reliable talent. therefore a high level rogue, with or without mage slayer is still a threat to any wizard and laerryn probably should be scared of a fight with veth—
