20 questions for fic writers!
thank you for the tag lovely kay @xjustakay <3
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
Six so far!
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
57,991 —which might not seem much but still, very proud of it, specially because a year ago, I wouldn’t have dreamed writing that many words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
So far only marauders, but I have some drarry/golden trio era in the making, as well as some PJO and GO so, we’ll see!
4. What are you top 5 fics by kudos?
Since I don’t have that many I’ll only put my top three:
Archenemies (or so he thought) -> Sirius hunts down his bestie James for ditching him on a prank and finds him cuddling with the enemy (a black cat) who turns out to be more of a pain in the ass than he expected, especially because for some reason, the little shit acts a lot like his brother.
Don’t threaten me with a good time -> Ah, Black cats, mischievous little things, aren’t they? Known for being a pain in the ass for older brothers, a good companion for best friends and devil incarnated for lovers and love ones alike.
When it rains -> It all comes down to a certain bus stop on a rainy week. Between interesting chats, pastries and being almost ran over by a purple car, there’s something about the person they share the bus stop with that seems familiar. (Basically a bunch of meet-cutes and pinning idiots being, well, idiots)
5. Do you respond comments? Why or why not?
I do, yes! I love responding to comments but sometimes I tell myself I’m going to answer later in the day and I forget :( but I do love comments, they make my day every time. 💘
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hands down it will be slow dancing in the dark, the whole fic is quite angsty, at least for me, but I wouldn’t say it has a angsty ending, maybe a little— nvm I just re-read it. Yeah, it’s sad.
7. What is a fic your wrote with the happiest ending?
My babygirl some sunny day, that fic is my go-to when I remember this fandom is based in death, angst and misery hahaha. Some sunny day is like a, well, a ray of sunshine lmao. It has my favorite setting, my fave pairs and some Spanish here and there. Love it dearly.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully no, maybe some weird ones but nothing that I would count as hateful. Really grateful for that, dunno what I would do if I were to receive those on a daily basis, never post again most likely lmao.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Haven’t post smut yet but I wrote some, still in the doc and everything but is there, waiting to be posted 😈
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest you’ve written?
Not really my thing, no. but maybe! who knows
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, haven’t looked Wattpad yet tho.
12. Have you ever has a fic translated?
No, but if anyone would want to, it would be lovely!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
It’s in the making, actually! @sequinhaze and I are doing a drarry fic, so there’s that 😌
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
All-time favorite is a not easy to answer, i mean currently it’s drarry and jeggy but my first was Percabeth and Solangelo, I was a sucker for them and still am. So maybe them.
15. What’s a wip you what to finish but doubt you ever will?
The empire of the sun trilogy jsjsjs maybe I’ll finish the first one but the other two seem pretty far away for me right now, but one never knows so.
Also copying Kay’s answer here because my google docs also looks like a graveyard of unfinished works lmao.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I believe I give a solid characterization and maybe storytelling (?? Inner monologue maybe? love to see the chaos i created in my little puppets.
17. What are you writing weaknesses?
Run on sentences, I’ve been told I tend to do that a lot hehe and comas —also it costs me greatly to just write, if I’m not in the mood it’s hard for me to just go for it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
1000% I’m favor. Some of my fics have French/Spanish in them, I like the idea of leaving non-spanish speakers to go to the end notes or to google translate or straight-up wonder what the hell I’m talking about jsjsj
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Some 1D and JB back in the day, so you bet your asses y/n and I were besties
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
About time, scars and the brightest stars is my absolute favorite. That fic is the love of my life, it has everything I love and more and rn I can put the link bc I took it down so I can finish it all and post it in one go but yeah, that one.

Hiya guys, how’re you?
I actually read this fic a couple of months back. It was a short one in which Draco is obsessed with Harry. It’s definitely rated E and there was sex in the end.
The setting is that there’s a ministry function and Draco keeps trying to get Harry’s attention at these and manages to do so sometimes. I think pansy was in the fic. And there were Harry Potter cookies that Draco suggestively ate in front of Harry, getting him all hot and bothered.
I’m pretty sure Draco made Harry laugh at some point but either when he directly or indirectly asks Harry out, he’s rejected. Although when he’s taking his coat and preparing to leave, he hears the doors bang open and Harry purposefully striding towards him.
I’m assuming after that they kiss and I know that they go to his office room (Harry’s) and have sex. (There may have been an assistant who liked Harry standing at the door or something of a similar fashion happening).
But yeah, I really hope you can help me find it. Thank you so much.
We believe you are looking for Sweet Indulgence (10k, E) by @the-sinking-ship!
Don’t forget to bookmark, leave kudos and comments!

I was tagged by @gwenllian-in-the-abbey, thank you so much for the tag! (and sorry that it has taken me forever to do this)
How many works do you have on AO3?
Three currently (I’ve written more for other fandoms but I orphaned those years ago)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
55,643
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I only post for Realm of the Elderlings, but I also sometimes write Kingdom Hearts fics purely for myself
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Uhh, I only have three on my current account, but in order, Someone Other Than Us, After The Sun Has Set and then Ever Your Fool.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, or at least I try to! I have a bad habit of thinking my response but never actually writing it down and then forgetting about it completely... But I try my best to remember to reply, even if it ends up taking a while.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Neither of my finished fics/oneshots have closed endings, so I guess it depends on what you imagine happens afterwards. Neither of them are exactly happy though.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I haven’t finished posting it yet, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise that After The Sun Has Set will soon take that title. I mean, it's already happier than anything else that I've written
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do, occasionally. I don’t know exactly how to describe what kind, other than that my smut scenes tend to be quite sad?? I like using them as a way to explore or exaggerate some complicated character dynamic, and I guess that’s why they often turn into something at least a little uncomfortable. As much as I enjoy reading smut that’s all sexy and romantic, for some reason I can’t write it myself at all haha
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Nah
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Fitzloved is my current favourite (and I've never been this intense about a ship before), though Zemyx (from Kingdom Hearts) is the one I always eventually return to
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Last spring I wrote about 45k words of post-Assassin’s Fate happy ending AU. The outline for it is massive, and what I’ve written so far covers maybe one tenth at most. I know I will never have the patience to finish it, but somewhere at the back of my mind I refuse to let it go. I’ve been trying to see if I could turn parts of it into one-shots or something, but who knows what I’ll end up doing 🤷
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d say I’m fairly good at characterization, as well as building up tragic and angsty scenarios. My favorite thing when writing fanfiction is to take some (usually sad) aspect of a character/relationship/etc and then dive deep into that, and I think I do it pretty well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My prose, especially detailed descriptions and creative similes and metaphors and the like. Writing those does not come naturally to me at all, and I feel like I often get stuck using cliches and specific words or phrases, and then have to spend half my time editing to make things less repetitive.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Not my thing, I prefer to keep everything in one language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter, I think? Way back in like 2008 or 2009.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
From RotE stuff, After the Sun Has Set. It’s the first time I’ve managed to fully write, edit and post a multi-chapter fic from start to finish, and that alone is a huge achievement for me. Writing every chapter from a different character’s PoV was also a really fun (if sometimes frustrating) challenge and I’m really glad to have done it. Outside of RotE, a few years back I wrote this super self-indulgent novel-length Zemyx fic. I never posted it anywhere and it’s kind of crap quality-wise so I never will, but since it’s basically just every romance trope I’ve ever liked, it’s fun to reread for comfort every once in a while.

fanfic writer asks
I think this was originally an ask meme but I don't mind doing this like Mak and answering all of 'em like a survey. So here's my answers!
Tagged by: @bisamwilson
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 11 2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 16,264 3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Several, like at least 10 though in my wips that might add up a bit more 4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? scars; they will not fade, but its power lessens over time (222) The Skant (193) All Things (141) Waiting Is Sweet (If You Can Make The Time) (107) Savior (103) 5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? That's posted or that's in my wips? Coz most of the fics posted on my tumblr or AO3 are not that angsty (well, for my angst standards). However, I do have a couple of fics in my wips that are angsty, especially one technically dealing with a main character death, so... 6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? Uh... Let me get back to you on that. 7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written? Actually I do, and I find crossovers very fun, if for the "what if these set of people meet" or "what if these people were in this universe" type thing. I think the craziest one I've written has to be the Yu Yu Hakusho/Stargate Atlantis one, so far. 8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes, I do, though some of it hasn't been published online even if it's finished, mostly shared to friends on Discord lmao (I really should upload them.) I've written m/f, m/m, and f/f fic and also various configurations of ot3 pairings, and while I haven't put them online, a fair amount of kink as well. 9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yeah, I do, and usually try to be timely about it but sometimes I'll forget or not have the energy to. I like responding to what people have said and it's nice to see their comments on my work! 10. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Like specific hate? No. I did however get some hateful comments from some asshole in 2016 who was going around making these homophobic comments for fics in the ship tag, including to some very new writers who were publishing their first fics, and I ended up making a PSA post about it when it happened. The asshole went to literally 15-20 fics with similar types of comments and sometimes engaged back in a comment thread, it was a fucking mess lol 11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of, however I've had gifs and fanart/edits stolen from me, more than once. Not fun. 12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, I probably would cry if someone wanted to though. 13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes and sadly it's unfinished but it was a lot of fun! 14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? ...I am a chronic multishipper so this question is extremely hard lmao 15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I have a WIP problem so there's various fics that fit this category (including the co-written fics mentioned above). 16. What are your writing strengths? People have said that my writing is kind of poetic, and I admit sometimes it does, and I try to be good about word economy and sometimes that comes through in my fics. I think I'm fairly good at dialogue too. 17. What are your writing weaknesses? At this point, probably just finishing a longfic lmao I know that's partially one of those "you gotta pace yourself, stamina" things but yeah 18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I actually don't mind it, and I’m actually kinda proficient in a couple of languages for it to work. I think though, if the point is for the character to not understand something, but to have readers who do understand a glimpse of a character or plot or etc, writers should try to put some kind of translation in the story whether it's in the author's notes or somehow in the text. Same thing for dialogue. If they don't want to translate in text OR in the author's notes, the meaning should be subtextually clear though, otherwise, just write something like "said in [x language]". 19. What was the first fandom you wrote for? ...that was so long ago I can't remember, it was back in elementary school. 20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? My ABSOLUTE favorite??? This is like picking a favorite color or something.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for tagging me @retlasute 🤩🤩🤩 Due to how inactive I am on tumblr, I never thought I was going to get tagged so I appreciate it very much!
I also don’t really talk to anyone on this app I’m just going to go with @rreeaahh bc 😌
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
So I actually just read on Ao3 and I’ve never written anything on it. However, that doesn’t mean I wont try to make something on that platform.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
I think my first answer also answers this question 😗😗😗
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Any honestly, it just depends on which fandom I feel like I want to write about.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Hahaha, so…I technically haven’t posted any fics at all so…(yeah ik, shame, shame, shame)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
As you can tell, I don’t post any of my writings at all bc I’m extremely inactive, which means that I don’t get any comments. Though, I wouldn’t mind responding to a few comments, it’s nice receiving positive feedback from others. It gets me motivated and helps me improve on my writing!
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Never really finalized anything, but I have written angsty pieces that make my heart wrench in ways I cannot describe. There also pretty complicated to write but I still like writing these kind of things.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t finished an actual fic. I’ve some cheerful things and such so yeah
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet 🫣🫣🫣 (obviously)
9. Do you write smut?
Hahahahha *laughs nervously*, I have tried and it come out really bad. Well, it wasn’t really smut, it was more like spicy but not explicit, if that makes sense. It’s not really my forte.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I have, and it’s…a lot honestly. They can be fun to write at first but after some time they can get very complicated. Plus, I also don’t have a lot of brain energy to just finish it up because it so much more work to make crossover, ykyk🥱😴🫠
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah no
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet! I actually do want at some point (whenever that is) but not right now bc I’m not very diligent abt that kind of stuff
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Gosh where do I start 🤔🤔🤔 I have so many favorite ships that I honestly can’t pick which one is my fav. But, but, but, butttttttt, I’ll just pick one for the sake of this question and that would probably be wolfstar ❤️
15. What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
There’s this one short story I want to finish writing. It’s going pretty smooth right now but I sometimes forget it exits and I get lazy whenever I start writing it so 😶
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’m pretty good with details. Sometimes I go bit too much on detail with certain things that are but unnecessary to what I’m writing. I like describing how a character, setting, event looks like and what’s happening. I also really like writing about the personalities of my characters bc it just gives me enough insight on who they are as person
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I get very lazy with my writing. Like if I’m going to write about this really good idea I have I sometimes get a bit discouraged abut it and then I just decided to not to do it bc of how complicated it would be. That’s why I start to slack a bit on pieces of writings I make. Smut writings are something I’m not the best at.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I actually find it pretty cool whenever a characters dialogue is another language. I actually have written characters that speak another language such as French (which I know very little) and Spanish but I sometimes I use google translate for help or bc I’m lazy. I might even ask like people that I know such as friends or family how to write describe something in that language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Erm soooo FNAF really got me into writing. I did like writing before but it wasn’t like fandoms and stuff it was more about characters I made etc.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I honestly don’t know. Like I have written fics but I haven’t posted any at all…so like idk
Omg, I completely forgot I made this and it’s be more than a week, literally 2 weeks if I’m exact. I’m so sorry 😭😭😭 school has been a real pain in the ass lately but I finally posted so yay!
Also thank you once more to @retlasute for tagging me 😄 I’m so sorry for the 2 week delay!

As a fic writer, how do you stay positive and not stress yourself out with constantly comparing?
I've been really struggling with that. I start spiraling when a certain chapter doesn't get as many comments as usual, comparing my hit counts and kudo counts to other fics, and it's really not healthy but I'm struggling with knowing how to stop, how to just be happy and proud of the response I've gotten. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
oh boy.
i’m gonna be 100% honest with you—i have absolutely no clue. i can’t count how many times i’ve went back and checked how many hits or kudos something i recently published has (i actually keep a tab of whatever the newest thing is opened at all times so i can refresh and see the numbers, which is. less than sustainable)
honestly, the best advice that i, personally, can give you is focus hard on your own writing. keep your eyes on whatever your current project is, and ignore the other ones that you already have published—any numbers going up will feel good, even if it isn’t as high as your other ones are, because pretty soon you’ll start to forget what the others are.
but all in all, that advice isn’t the greatest—for ultra positivity, i would go with the fact that learning to make your writing for yourself instead of for a perceived audience (perceived meaning the expectations you’re setting on yourself to fulfill). you’ll not only have more fun writing and reading your work, but it’ll be a lot healthier in the long run.
i’m sorry that i’m not more helpful, so if anyone else has suggestions please do leave them somewhere on here—but all in all, i wish you the best of luck anon. i’m sure your work is amazing, no matter how many hits it has, and i’d love to read it sometime if you ever want to share!!!!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
An even 200!
2. What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
Um. 3,328,002
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Six:
Inception in the lead with 67 fics
Sherlock with 56
Fall Out Boy with 36
Doctor Who with 14 (this number is incorrect, I have written waaaaay more than that, they just live on LJ and DW)
and then one each for Sports Night and The Office (UK)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Nature and Nurture
Saving Sherlock Holmes
Working on the Edges
The Radovljica Apicultural Museum
John Watson’s Twelve Days of Christmas
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes I get busy or depressed or sick, etc., and I fall behind, but I try to respond, for a number of reasons - they give me so much joy that I want to acknowledge that they have brought my joy; it is so wonderful to see what people to respond to and love and laugh at and cry over, it definitely makes me a better writer, and so I want to acknowledge that, too; and comments when I’m in the middle of posting a fic are especially helpful to me because they often result in me tweaking what’s coming next in response to questions I see people have that indicate I’m not being clear enough, or maybe I’m not hitting the tone I want, etc. And so I like to respond to be like, “Thank you! You have no idea how important and wonderful this is to me!”
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh, wow. While I actually think I can write good angst, when I do it I try to have it in the middle of the fic, so that it gets properly resolved to give you a nice, happy ending. I’m sure someone’s going to be like, YOU ARE FORGETTING THIS HEART-WRENCHING THING YOU WROTE, but all I’m coming up with right now is that, in my long Doctor Who ‘verse I wrote, I did a fic in which their family dog died. That was pretty angsty. (omg I just scrolled down to see how I ended this story and OH MY GOD ahahah I forgot that I wrote this after I’d broken up with the Tenth Doctor and so it ends with Brem being like, “Plus, my father is useless so I have to hold the entire family together all the time” hahahaha what an extra-angsty ending, Brem, my love lol)
7. Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I do sometimes! I feel like most of my crossovers make some amount of sense. Like, okay, maybe you wouldn’t think to cross Inception with Fall Out Boy (this was a special request) but I think the premise of the fic makes total sense. And I once crossed Oliver with Brem, but those were my first two beloved precocious fic songs, so that made some sense, too. And I still think Inception and Sherlock crossed together made SO much more sense than actual seasons of Sherlock lol. So I guess if I had to choose the craziest I would go with the Doctor Who/Gossip Girl crossover I wrote lol. But wait, that one actually also made sense as I wrote it, I think, so I’ll go with the Sherlock/Fall Out Boy crossover because that was just bonkers.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. I wrote a fic that was really horrible to Mary in “Sherlock.” I hate Mary. I feel like I can say that now. I haaaaaated Mary. But in those days “Sherlock” was an incredibly tense fandom to be part of and if you didn’t say that you loved Mary all the time forever and always then people were like !7@((!*(@(!& at you. I have a million massive warnings in all caps all over the fic, like, DON’T READ THIS IF YOU LIKE MARY, and people still would leave rude comments on it lololol. And then we wonder why I left that fandom lol. (I mean, many people in the fandom were wonderful, and I don’t always have REASONS why I leave fandoms, it’s not like anything is that logical or rational. But it wasn’t a very fun time to be in Sherlock fandom. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do. My smut almost always has to be advancing some kind of emotional beat in the characters’ relationship. I’m never super-explicit because usually the whole point of the scene to me is what the characters are thinking and feeling, not really what they’re *doing.*
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Sometimes my fics show up somewhere without my knowledge. People are really good about letting me know when that happens.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yup!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes!
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
This is like asking who my all-time favorite child is.
14. What’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have this high school Peterick AU that I started at the beginning of the pandemic. For some reason, when schools shut down, all I could think about was all these bands that wouldn’t get formed because the kids couldn’t go to each other’s houses, like Pete Wentz couldn’t just show up at Patrick Stump’s to hear him play. So I started this story where Pete and Patrick meet right before the pandemic hits, and then everything locks down and they’re stuck Facetiming each other and coming to the realization that their soulmate is on the other side of the screen.
Anyway, I actually think this fic is super-hot?? And I never think I write hot things, but it’s got a hot phone sex scene and I’m really happy with it and I would love to finish the story...except that the pandemic turned out to be...this. And in my head, Idk, I thought there’d be this triumphant moment where everyone would be like, “Yay! We can see each other now!” and Pete and Patrick would reunite, and instead everything petered out into, “Can we see each other now........????? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ “ and I didn’t know what to do with that in my fic, it made it not as neat as I was wanting it to be.
But I hate to lose that hot phone sex scene hahaha. And also after the hot phone sex scene Patrick adds “Hotline Bling” to his and Pete’s shared Spotify playlist they’ve been working on and I’M SORRY, I FOUND THAT SO CHARMING, PATRICK STOLE MY HEART WITH THAT MOVE, anyway, as you can see, I love so much about the fic and I really want to find a way to make it work and maybe someday I will the end.
15. What are your writing strengths?
My dialogue.
Also I think I write the same story over and over (person realizes that they’re deserving of being loved for exactly who they are), but I think I’m REALLY GOOD at that one story lol
Also I like to think that I write family relationship stuff fairly well, like, Idk, I love doing that stuff, whether found family or biological.
Oh, and I think I usually get the ratio of angst::happy ending pretty good (in my view for my personal preference lol).
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
I don’t think I’m especially good at smut. I’m terrible at paying attention to things like setting, what the characters are wearing, what the characters even look like, etc. As mentioned above, I tell the same story over and over and over, and I’m okay with that, but yeah, I’d be bad at telling a story where people aren’t, like, nice people who you’re rooting for.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think I couldn’t do it, because I don’t speak any other language, but I’m always happy when people translate my fics!
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who. Although maybe, like, New Kids on the Block self-insert stuff counts from junior high??? But Doctor Who was first published.
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Please see above re: favorite child lol
I tag every writer who wants to do this and I hope every writer does this because I always think these are fascinating!!

But when another body appears, and another, this mystery goes far deeper than either of them could have imagined.
A Guide to the Morphology of Magic by wendlaa (64,000 words, rated E)
When Draco Malfoy is hand picked to investigate a string of curses cropping up in Muggle communities in North America, the last person he wanted to be traveling with was Harry Potter. Still, duty calls, and the two set off on an adventure chasing down mysterious curses, sleeping in cramped hotel rooms, and trying to navigate their newly formed post-War selves as they make their way through small towns and long, dark stretches of highway.
Turning Over a new Leaf, Entering the Next Phase, and Other Rot Like That by  allychik6 (80,929 words, rated M)
There's a pelt found outside Weasley Wizard Wheezes, and Harry is sucked into a string of crimes. Crimes where his only lead seems to be Draco Malfoy. Draco Malfoy, who can't seem to keep himself out of trouble, who seems intent on shaking up the delicate balance of Grimmauld Place, who keeps stealing food from Harry's plate and irritating his Auror partner. And when did he get so fit?
The Paradox of Active Surrender by @korlaena and @saulaie (107,978 words, rated E)
When Draco shows up as a suspect in a murder case after eight years of no contact, Harry has to balance his professional life and his past friendship with Draco. As suspicion mounts against him, Harry knows he has to keep his distance, but Draco makes that difficult when he starts claiming that they have a Life Debt to settle. Harry wants to trust him, but what is he hiding and where has he been these long years?
Love and Other Unsafe Practices by @tedahfromtayla 116,854 E
Love is a lot like surgery: sometimes you have to take risks to succeed and most times there are unexpected side effects. Harry is back in a hospital room after an Auror sting gone wrong and nobody is amused at this point. It's starting to become somewhat of a familiar scene for Ron and Hermione. This time his healer is one Draco Malfoy so it's actually a /little/ funny when something goes wrong during recovery.
Don’t forget! I’ve also made this previous Case Fics List!
Or, if you rather, you can find both of these lists on TheDrarryLibrarian AO3:
Long Case Fics Sub-Collection
 Case Fics Sub-Collection
❤️ As always, if you find a fic you enjoy, please remember to leave the author a kudos or a comment! ❤️
Lots of Love and Happy Reading!

Fic writer review [Or a fic writer tag game if you prefer]
I was tagged by @naralanis and I can already see her grin all the way from where I am xd Thank you, dear, for the tag, let’s see what are my answers, shall we.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
*bursts out laughing* Adding both pseuds I have… 535 according to the account info but by counting them all I’m reaching 541 so I’m guessing it’s counting some drafts I need to re-find.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
I seriously hated you for this one xd I was going to do it by hand by I decided one-third there that I value my mental stability a little bit more xd according to the stats page back at a03 that number would be 1257884. It may be wrong. I think there should be a few more numbers up there but the majority of my works are one-shots so *shrugs* There’s also the fact that counting my ao3 things only is shaving off like half of it Xd Anyway, can we laugh at the fact that I’m a pain in the ass and that I’ve written a lot? More than I should have, that’s for sure
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Trick question because I haven’t crossposted everything I wrote back in ffnet and I actually erased some fics from my account back there so the numbers are a little blurry there.
When I had the entirety of my work posted both in ffnet and a03 I had written for: Twilight (Bella/Alice) Glee (Faberry and there were a couple Pezberry and I don’t fucking remember the pairing name for Santana and Quinn), Harry Potter (Hermione/Ginny, Hermione/Narcissa, Hermione/Bellatrix) OUAT (SwanQueen and several oneshots focusing on the mad hatter and the blue fairy solely back at ffnet that were written in Spanish and never translated), I actually had a veeeery old au prompt of Frozen (Elsanna in where I wrote them as non sibilings), Rizzoli and Isles (Rizzles), Dishonored 2 (Emily Kaldwin/Alexi Mayhew), Lara Croft and Wonder Woman, Supergirl (SuperCorp/Supercat) I had a 100 one -or maybe two??- (Clexa), The Shannara Chronicles (Amberle/Eretreia [Or Princess Rover], Rwby [Blake Belladona/Yang], The Worst Witch (Hecate Hardbroom and Pippa Pentangle), The Half of it, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Madam Satan/Zelda Spellman) and… I think that’s it(?) I may be forgetting some but probably nothing important if I’m not remembering it lol.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Ah, we are going to go there, uh? Xd My works are not the kudos and comment getting type Xd So I was quite surprised when I went to check this.
1: Cracked it I wrote this one back in 2017, it was a prompt done by an anon: Lena is nerding with one of her projects at home, mumbling mostly to herself because she’s stuck and Kara casually mentions how to solve the problem like it’s nothing. I really had some fun with this. It was back when some us, SQeeners were fully doing the jump between OUAT and SuperGirl (I mean, there had already been some crossover as for fandom is related but this when the girls were actually getting their conjoined voice within the fandom)
2: Dateless I honestly needed to check what this one was about but I think I can see why this one shot has the amount of kudos it has. It’s a short and sweet idea and responds to the Teachers Au that went SO well with SQ. Everyone thinks they hate each other and try to set them up with other people whilst they, in truth, are dating. I don’t remember if I wrote them as married rather than dating but despite being from 2017 as well is one cheeky enough to be cool Xd I probably would edit some lines now *shudders*
3: After you I truly didn’t expect this one to be top 3. Makes me think of a lot of things, if I’m being honest Xd. After you was a one shot written almost feverishly as an answer to the fabulous drawings that Sejic did of both Lara Croft and Wonder Woman back at 2018 or something. It’s just Lara and Diana being himbos but not at all with each other.
4: How about… How about is one I remember perfectly, it was my answer to the ending of the Half of it film. I had SOME thoughts about it, let’s just stop there Xd I really liked the film itself but I think and I thought at the time that my response to wishing for a final scene at the very end of the credits responds to me being in a different personal moment than the characters. I really wanted to explore my feelings about it and so I wrote about them finding each other again after some time passes. It was also something I wrote after quite the hiatus so I took it as something I could write about without focusing too much on the why.
5: Come to me
Ahh, SuperCorp Xd I remember this one actually. A friend of mine and I were talking about descriptions, and she mentioned quite off-handedly how she wanted a fic in where Kara’s back was described. I complied… more or less.
Fun tidbit, despite the big volume of my work is obviously set in ouat there’s only 1 SQ fic there as you can see, the others are either SuperCorp or the random one shots I created for Wonderwoman/Lara Croft and The half of it. *sighs in deep thought* I’m also not going to look too much into how almost all of the fics were posted and written back in 2017. Nope, not at all.
*Small voice screaming you peaked in 2017 and everything else is garbage jumps back and forth*
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I tend to always respond, yup. I truly value comments. I might have gone for spells of time in where I didn’t have the mental capacity to check in old fics because I truly didn’t know what to answer but I treasure every single comment and you all who comment know that I can start to ramble in the answers xd -sorry about that- I really really REALLY love interaction.
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending:
Ok, Nara, come on, this one is a catch for me. I’ve written angst in far too many fics to remember the angstiest one :P I have the most recent one, though, that is the easy one to think about: Goodbye.Written for @delirious-comfort. I’m just going to say “Kisses with their last dying breath” as an idea of what awaits inside but I’ve written about death and loss and angst quite a lot. There were some I wrote back to SQ with Regina needing to kill Emma during the Dark Swan arc that, to this day, I still love and some others in where Regina is the one that dies, again and again, trapped by magic while Emma watches. I have the loss in mental destruction form and… I REALLY like my angst y’know xd
7. Do you write crossovers?
Not counting Lara and Wonder Woman not really! I think it comes from the fact that I loooove worldbuilding as a whole and some pairings would require all my focus into making the world perfect which in turn would make me self conscious on the OOCness of it all.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
*snorts* I’ve received hate due to the pairing I’ve written about, how I’ve written about it, the amount I’ve written, how slow or quick I can be, the usage of some tropes, the lack of usage of those same tropes… Let’s just go with: yuuuup.
9. Do you write smut?
I’ve written smut, yeah! But I can already see the pointed looks of some so let’s elaborate Xd I write smut when asked and sometimes when not asked but there’s a part of me I like to call a terrible tease that prefers writing the beginning of a scene, taunt it, focus on what happens before the sex scene per se as I find it more enjoyable to write. The process of escalation is always the best for me to see what can I do it by using both dialogue and descriptors tbh, so I tend to tease more than show.
9. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A few weeks ago I’d have said: Maybe(?) But trying to follow the trail of some other fics that had been stolen from some friends -I think it was me trying to find more about the page that stole something from your Nara!- I found some pages in where my fics had been reposted. In some it was stated that the person posting the fic wasn’t the author but I had never been contacted in order to see if I’d say yes to such a thing and in some others the page was locked up but I could still see someone was pretending to be the author. I did the thing and got some of those down.
Pointed note: Ask me if you want to post or translate or anything. I will look into you and answer you if you seem honest about the thing. But despite every joke and self-deprecating comment those 500 and then some fics represent MY time so very kindly I say fuck off to those who wish to steal from me and if I catch you… you don’t really want to see me angry, trust me.
10. Ever had a fic translated?
I’ve given permission to some, yeah, but never heard it back from them so I’m guessing it didn’t stick.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I’ve written series alongside other authors as @stregaomega for example. And some others that are unpublished -looking at you @carsonnieve - I’ve also done collabs… but fics co-written in the sense of two authors same chapters I don’t have anything posted I’m afraid :P
13. All-time favourite ship?
*snorts*, I guess the obvious answer is SQ uh? And I do think they were the ones that allowed me to read and write SO much. The one I feel more strongly about, however, is Bering and Wells from Warehouse 13.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
All of them counts as a valid answer? But if I only could finish one that would be Arcadia. With A forgotten Promise second and the one I did as an Assassins Creed AU third. (I don’t remember the name so there’s no link, sorry xd)
15. Writing strengths?
Uhhhh, you REALLY want me to say that? I don’t fucking know!! To me everything I write is garbage. I always try to go for the feelings so I guess. Dunno xd I’ve been told I’m good at worldbuilding and to be honest is what I enjoy the most.
16. Writing weaknesses?
Everything Xd Pacing? What I hate the most sometimes is dialogue, I would count it as a weakness but I’m always far too focused on description rather than dialogue. I don’t think it’s a bad thing per se but it’s something that I don’t do as much.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I’m conflicted. Always. Majorly because I think that having bilingual characters in fanfiction is portrayed and expected in a way that I don’t feel it’s honest with how bilingual people -us- talk. So if I go by what I know I do I think it’s not what readers hope to see when it comes to that and if I go for how canonically is hoped to be found I don’t think it’s logical. But that’s me and my overthinking Xd If I have the option I like to do it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Belice! Or Bella/Alice. Worst first fic ever but oh, well, I’m always saying that :P
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
Uhh… Don’t make me do this XD Agh, I don’t know. I’ve always been very vocal about Metallic Ink because I let myself enjoy the process of creating a magic system almost out of zero and that was fun. Despite hating some of the writing process and that I’d do it differently now I think I’m going to stick with that answer. Or anything that had any steampunk-based undertone. To be honest I like more thinking of concepts, I had one in where Emma was a thief and it involved the robbery of a ring that was Regina’s one way ticket to freedom I then later repurposed that I adored thinking about so let’s go with…. Yeah, I love having the option of changing things up a little and focus on how characters would fit in different aesthetics for this one Xd
Annnd… these are four pages, gods. I’m just going to tag @waknatious @carsonnieve @stregaomega here and see what they do- Enjoy the questionnaire ladies :P

Fanfic Asks and Answers
Thanks for the tag, @bbcfandomsuniverse!
How many works do you have on AO3?
61 - not counting some anon fics elsewhere and some buried wayyy back on FF.net.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
269, 361. 69. Heh.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Two: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Newtina, Thestina), and Strike (Strellacott)
What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Birthday Dare
Drawn to You
Forget Me Not (Fantastic Beasts)
Need You Now
Striketober 2020
Do you respond to comments, and why or why not?
I really try. Sometimes the sheer amount of comments gets overwhelming and I just have to...not. But I do my best.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably I Carry Your Heart, which includes a major character death in the Strike fandom.
Do you write crossovers?
I have actually started one crossover of Strike and Holliday’s show, The Capture! It’s called The Doppelgänger. There’s only one chapter so far, but I hope to finish it one day!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not that I can remember.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
YES. If you know me at all, you know that I will write sweet and loving to downright dirty, it just depends on the fic and the mood.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I support it!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I have an incomplete co-written fic, Forget Me Not, with my friend oceanicflights for the FB fandom. @themysteriousphoenix and I have also started a Newtina first kisses series (currently WIP). For the Strike fandom, I’ve collaborated with @robinvenetiaa and @seebee239 on several fics. I’ve also done some sekrit collabs!
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
At the moment, Strike and Robin, but Newt and Tina are my original loves.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Probably my FB collab with oceanflights. We both seem to have moved away from the FB fandom (for now), so I just don’t know if we’ll ever get back around to it.
What are your writing strengths?
Drabbles, descriptions of settings.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue, grammar and punctuation rules, plot-heavy fics.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’m not opposed to it, but I don’t know another language fluently enough to confidently write dialogue.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Monk.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
For Fantastic Beasts, it’s probably my Thestina fic Your Eyes are Liquor, Your Body is Gold. because it was just so different and despite not being written for a main FB ship, it flowed so naturally.
For Strike, I think I’d have to go with The Birthday Dare.
With low pressure, and only if you want to, I tag @seebee239, @robinvenetiaa, @bluerobinwrites, @themysteriousphoenix, @ravenish-huffnpuff, @cvhsquill, @flanker27uk, @105nt, @jekkyme, @cb-strike, @harrogatebelmont, @rattacat, @chillyhollow, @sekritgalbraith, @monomama,

fic writer questions
thank you for tagging me @allwaswell16!!
1) how many works do you have on AO3?
24 fics – how did that happen?
2) what’s your total AO3 word count?
959,876. am determined to cross 1 million this year!
3) how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
only one: one direction!!
4) what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. sleeping on our problems
2. before we knew
3. even the best laid plans
4. bruise you like a peach
5. give me love
5) what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
honestly i think all my fics have really happy endings with the exception of you are in love because that’s an open/ambiguous ending but i wouldn’t describe it as angsty at all!! just hopeful and sweet :’) maybe i’m forgetting something obvious but i don’t think so!
6) what’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
like... all of them to be honest. but i’ll say feeling borrowed, always blue just because that happy ending felt particularly triumphant after the events of the story.
7) do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
i think the only “crossover” i’ve written is works like a charm but the only crossing over is the setting!
8) do you write smut? If so what kind?
i do... and it depends, i guess. i’m a fan of the d/s dynamic and trying out different kinks but i also like sweet sex sometimes <3
9) do you respond to comments, why or why not?
i do!! i like to thank readers for taking the time to read and comment on my fic and also to answer any questions or clear up any confusion if necessary.
10) have you ever received hate on a fic?
i think i’ve been relatively lucky in terms of ao3 comments... i have gotten a few borderline rude comments about characterization or other decisions people felt the need to tell me they didn’t agree with lol but nothing too hateful. also unrequested criticism is always a thing some people feel the need to give…
11) have you ever had a fic stolen?
once... that i know of :/
12) have you ever had a fic translated?
yes! plenty! i’ve been meaning to make a masterpost but i’m lazy </3
13) have you ever co-written a fic before?
yes!!  give me love with lovely sarah @soldouthaz
14) what’s your all time favorite ship?
in this fandom, it’s obviously harry/louis but i have tons outside the fandom!! don’t write for any of them though.
15) what’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
i have a lot shjksl my fencing au, pack au, ten years’ fic, and also a heather songfic fit the criteria best though.
16) what are your writing strengths?
idk?? maybe plot and worldbuilding (when that applies) ... i like to think i’m good at intriguing ideas.
17) what are your writing weaknesses?
definitely atmosphere and descriptions. as i’ve said many times before, i don’t visualize things when i think so it never really occurs to me to be that descriptive when i write. and atmosphere... some people just have writing styles suited to it but i don’t think i do lol.
18) what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
i think it could really help the ambience or realism of a fic... as long as the language is accurate. i utilized french in in a world alone with the help of a french friend.
19) what was the first fandom you wrote for?
gonna copy anitra in saying that the first fic that i actually published was for one direction <3
20) what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
gonna do my top three:
1. just a flicker in the dark
2. feeling borrowed, always blue
3. yesterday came suddenly
i’ll tag @soldouthaz, @afterglowslouis, @cosmicues, @zanniscaramouche, @absoloutenonsense, and @vogueharrystan <3 and if anyone sees this and wants to do it, i tag you too!

Fic Writer Review
Tagged by the lovely @picnokinesis (This is great. I love this!)
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
40 (But 3 are published anonymously. Don’t worry about why.)
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
313,378 (Good Lord)
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Just Doctor Who. And just since 2020. The fandom bug got me!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Biological Specificity (239) — The gateway drug to Doctor/Donna (and Interspecies Compatibility as a series)
It Has Been 0 Days Since the Last Incident (237) — This one probably gets a boost because it’s got Tentoo/Rose in the tags, but it’s really Doctor/Donna like always. Sorry bout the cat-fishing. Sometimes you just wanna write Ten, Donna, Tentoo and Rose all traveling around the Universe together!
The Best of Times (Amnesiac Remix) (236) — Just a classic fix-it where a bunch of aliens follow a mind-wiped Donna around. Bog-standard, really.
Acclimatization (234) — The second in the Interspecies Compatibility Series, or as I like to think of it, the beginning of the descent into Doctor/Donna madness
Survival Without Recovery (192) and Lazarus Taxon (192)— The official ending of the Interspecies Compatibility Series and an optional epilogue. Always impressed how many people make it all the way through that series. So much love for this fandom!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Oh yeah I respond to ALL of my comments. If I miss one I’ll go back later and apologize lol. I’m so genuinely impressed that anyone other than me likes my writing— anyone who goes through the trouble to let me know they liked it gets all the love from me.
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I can’t help it, I like all of my fics to have at least a hopeful ending XD. But (It Breaks You Down) A Little Bit More Each Time probably involves the most angst overall.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nah, I can barely read them.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
Nope! If my fics are ruining people’s days they’re successfully keeping it to themselves lol
9. Do you write smut?
OH, YES! More than I mean to, if I’m honest. (When did THAT happen?)
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know!
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Nope, I’d imagine it’d be a nightmare considering how many colloquialisms I just throw around.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I’ve collabed with the brilliant @fritzmetzger and @denzikken on three fics (One of which is coming out this week!)
I might've also accidentally co-written a fic with @theoreticalabsurdity @echo84 @krebkrebkreb and @picnokinesis that I think is on schedule for next week. (My part is done anyway!)
13. All time fav ship?
SHOCKINGLY it’s Doctor/Donna. I just love their dynamic so much! Even when I multiship it just ends up poly so I can get my Doctor/Donna fix.
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
OK all of my WIP’s live in secret shame files on my computer because the pressure of having a WIP out in the world might literally kill me. But within that… I was thinking of doing a follow-up to The Volatile Nature of Binary Stars with more Doctor/Donna/Master vibes. Considering I might be the only person on the planet who would enjoy that though... it keeps falling to the end of my very long list of random inspirations.
15. Writing strengths?
I seem to be good at humor. So that’s something! I also like to slide genuine emotion in, but make it sNeAkY so it hits with maximum impact. That seems to go over well, based on the number of reviews I get with phrases like “gut punch” XD. Also every time someone compliments me on my characterizations I definitely get that ’swallowed a hamster’ experience.
16. Writing weaknesses?
Endings! I’m so bad at endings, fam. I love setting up a whole elaborate setting and then I just kind of get too into it and forget I was supposed to be going somewhere or building to something. I just want to keep going! So I have to keep track of all my loose threads and make sure I’m actually doing something with them lol. (This is why most of my fics cap out around the 30K mark max. Keeping track of plot after that is just a bridge too far.)
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I usually just end up doing it in English or explaining my way around it instead of trying to type out another language. Though in my case they’re mainly alien languages that I’d have to make up. And that just seems like A Lot.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who, baby! I’ve literally only been in this game since 2020. Lockdown GOT me.
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
This is hard because I become emotionally attached to all my fic monsters, but my favorite monster is… Oh, damn it’s a tie. I can’t decide between The Noble Neverwere and The Volatile Nature of Binary Stars.
The Volatile Nature of Binary Stars was fun for me because it has Angry!Donna AND the Master. And I just kind of want there to be more Doctor/Donna/Master dynamics out in the world. Especially when Donna’s (justifiably!) pissed at the Doctor for abandoning her.
The Noble Neverwere gets a special place in my heart as a fic that I actually plotted out and painstakingly put together. (If Donna seems a little OOC at first that’s part of the plot, not because I lost my damn mind. Though that second option is definitely a risk.)
But yeah, really I love all my fics a little too much. I’m in the camp of “I wrote this for me, but you can read it too,” and I’m always so happy that so many people take me up on that XD
20. Tag!
This was great fun! I definitely recommend it. I'm going to tag a handful of writers (not including the ones who were literally just tagged with me): @nostalgia-tblr @raywritesthings @lilsum4 @veraynes-blog @colorofmymindposts and anyone else who wants to do it!

fic writer review
tagged by the wonderful @swinging-stars-from-satellites whoop!! Let’s go!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
Fourteen! It was thirteen until yesterday, which appealed to me a lot, but I decided that posting pirate!thoschei was worth changing that number hahaha
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
394,102
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Technically five, because I’m not counting Avengers and MCU as two different fandoms hahaha. But they are: Doctor Who (2005), MCU, Stargate Universe, The Greatest Showman, and X-Men (comics) - the latter, though, wasn’t really for that fandom, because I was writing a TGS X-Men au hahaa
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Liminality , with 195 kudos - I am not surprised about this one, since it’s probably the most ‘readable’ of my fics, being a oneshot, not shippy, and also not being stupidly long haha!
Renegades in the Ring , with 144 kudos - I didn’t realise how much kudos this one got? I guess it helped that the fandom was very active when I first posted this. Alas, if only I had finished this one...I have a lot of nostalgia for the idea, but I don’t think I’ll ever return to it, simply because it would take about as much effort as campervan au is taking me right now.
i need a place to hide (before the storm begins) , with 125 kudos - which I am genuinely SO happy about because ahh! This is my big project and to know that 125 people said ‘yes this is good’ is just...really really nice?? Especially when it’s such a niche, specific au.
Tropospheric Disturbance , with 125 kudos - honestly, I’m surprised this one has as many kudos as it does, since I regularly forget I even wrote it hah! It’s a weird one, because it’s not actually in my usual writing style, but I am very proud of it!
and they did live by watchfires , with 109 kudos - and I’m really really happy to see this one here, because I think this is probably the favourite thing of my own that I’ve written.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
YES absolutely!! I love comments so much, and I really love to ramble about my stories because I almost always have a LOT of thoughts hahaha
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I mean, it’s probably a toss up between i need a place to hide (because I ended it on that twist/cliffhanger), Retrograde (which is another cliffhanger ending, leaving all the characters in a REALLY BAD situation), or maybe the new problem kid, you’ll taste all the salt in my lungs, because, uh, it basically ends with the Doctor saying ‘the person I was before this moment is dead’ HAHAHA. But, to be honest, I don’t know if I would call any of those endings VERY angsty? They’re more like ‘AHHH WHAT HAPPENS NEXT’ endings rather than angst. I don’t tend to write angsty endings because I love angst but I always prefer to end it on a hopeful note...otherwise it feels very unsatisfying for me to write, personally.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Technically? I mean, I see Renegades as an au more than a crossover, because it’s merely set in the same universe as the X-Men comics, and the only crossover element is Nathaniel Essex being in it...and I never even wrote those scenes hahaha
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
Nah, people are wonderful!
9. Do you write smut?
Since I’m sex-repulsed, this is a hard no HAHA
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know!
11. Ever had a fic translated?
I have not
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Me and @sunshinedaysforever have a collab-wip graveyard in our dms HAHA - but I am actually working on cowriting a fic with some other wonderful folks at the moment! I am. Supposed to have my part finished by the 6th. Hm.
13. All time fav ship?
Right now, it’s thoschei/spydoc, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s my all time favourite, because my favourite changes a lot. I do have a HUGE amount of love for Clintasha and Rush/Young though!
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Hmmmmm, there’s a few. I mean, at the moment, I feel like The Grandfather Paradox will NEVER get finished, but I like to think that if I’m still into Doctor Who enough when I finally finish campervan, I might take a crack at it? Grandfather Paradox is more solid atm than some of my other wips...(see: deathless, disarmed). Oh, I know which one I almost certainly won’t finish - this one I came up with waaay back before In the Wind, which is set between O55 and Telsa, which is about telepathy and not listening to warnings from the past, amongst other things.
15. Writing strengths?
I’ve been informed that I’m really good at character voices, and I also think that I’m quite good at expanding characters we see very little of and fleshing them out a lot more. I’ve had to do that a lot for campervan and it’s been really good fun!
16. Writing weaknesses?
I think I can get kinda tangled in the emotional plot lines sometimes, and it makes everything get convoluted and messy and hard to follow? Also I’m not very good at...taking a good metaphor and expanding it? If that makes sense. I’m also actually kind of terrible at subtle, clever foreshadowing because half the time I don’t know what’s happening HAHAHAHAH but sometimes I do manage it!! I’m trying to do it in campervan at the moment. Also I. Can’t write short things HAHA. My characters always think and talk a LOT and sometimes that’s good, sometimes not so much
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I’m actually doing it currently in part 5 of campervan, since Gabriela and Jamila both speak portuguese (and I’m learning portuguese!)
18. First fandom you wrote for?
On ao3? Stargate Universe. On the internet? The Avengers. Ever? Uh. I honestly don’t know. I made up ocs based on two unicorns in the aftercredits sequence of a My Little Pony VHS tape, does that count?
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
I mentioned it earlier, but I’m extremely proud of and emotionally attached to and they did live by watchfires
If anyone wants my ao3, it’s right over here!
And oh, who to tag!! No pressure, of course, but: @sunshinedaysforever @theplatinthehat @taardisblue @hetzi-art @krebkrebkreb @echo84 @theoreticalabsurdity @1-of-those-things @walker-lister @timelostdoctor and anyone else who wants to!

I got tagged in this fanfic ask game by @archistratego ❤️
how many works do you have on AO3? 4, but I purged a bunch over the years lol
what’s your total AO3 word count? 16,907
how many fandoms have you written for and what are they? from memory just four that I actually posted: the terror (2018), dark matter by michelle paver, the hobbit, and sh*rlock (lol). I started writing a hannibal fic ages back but abandoned it, maybe I’ll actually write a whole one some day
what are your top 5 fics by kudos? my 3 terror fics (grief taught love to fall like music from his tongue, look me in the stars and tell me truly and  the grass below — above, the vaulted sky) followed by my dark matter fic the ocean held everything, and tossed aside the weary
do you respond to comments, why or why not? I usually have in the past but sometimes I’d forget for ages and then not bother
what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I can’t remember if any of my old deleted fics were particularly sad but I doubt it. and all my current ones give the characters happy endings (or are set in a time outside of what happens to them) because the original source material is sad as fuck
do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written? nope, I’ve only ever been interested in writing AUs that use another media setting but aren’t actual crossovers
have you ever received hate on a fic? no
do you write smut? if so what kind? I’ve only ever written 4 nsfw fics (all deleted now) but three were f/f and one was m/m
have you ever had a fic stolen? no
have you ever had a fic translated? no
have you ever co-written a fic before? no
what’s your all time favourite ship? these days it’s just hannibal/will, let’s be real. a lot of the other relationships I really love are obscure and/or aren’t ‘ships’ so much (like sebastian flyte/charles ryder). there are plenty I have enjoyed for a long time though I wouldn’t call them all time faves (like fitzier, bagginshield, merthur, etc)
what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I loved that hannibal fic I started writing a year ago which was an apostle (2018) AU but I think I heard someone else had started posting their own AU so I stopped haha
what are your writing strengths? I have no clue tbh, I don’t write enough fic. my strength is really in academic writing, which I will brag and say I’m pretty great at
what are your writing weaknesses? I really struggle to get fics off the ground if they’re of any significant length, which is why I’ve had so many aborted multi-chapter fics over the years
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think it can add a lot to a story if done well, and I don’t even mind if there’s not a translation. if the tone and meaning gets across or the lack of translation is relevant to the POV then I’m cool with it
what was the first fandom you wrote for? sh*rlock lol
what’s your favourite fic you’ve written? probably the one for dark matter just because that book is so close to my heart and I think I captured the style really well
I’m tagging a few mutuals who I know write fic, but if anyone else wants to do this then I tag you too! @snailmailthings @thestarvedghost @horrorlesbians @m-i-z-u-m-o-n-o

Interview With A Writer
Note: These are AO3 related questions....my AO3 is the same as my primary blog @allixiler
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
181 !
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
601,269 (This includes allllllllll the fandoms I write for)
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
“The Underdog” (279) “A Little Sensitivity” (233) “Untrusted Intuition” (189) “Potions and Pacifiers” (150) “Mercy” (149)
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I love getting comments. I love, love, love, LOVE them. I try my best to respond to them -- but I will admit I fall short. I adore reading them, but honestly I just forget sometimes.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably “Shattered”. That one was angsty from start to finish.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
OOOOOOH. I mean, MOST of my fics end pretty happy. I guess Miscommunication (pt. 2) was the happiest.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nah. I’m not that creative.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Off the top of my head, no. Probably will one day. I think I had someone one time say that a Lucius fic that I wrote was unrealistic.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Typically fluffy stuff. I’ll do something rougher every now and then.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
LOL not completely -- but I’ve had some ideas stolen.’
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Actually, yes. My Snape Wattpad book “The Assistant” is available in German.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
13. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Romione !
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
I’ve had this Severus fic in my drafts for a HOT minute. It’s a fluffy, rainy day setting one that is so basic that idk if I’ll ever finish it.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think that I do dialogue well. Typically dialogue that’s canon to the character.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Smut. Definitely smut. It is so hard for me.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’m down with it. I have this Neville fic that has a little bit of French -- but it’s minimal and all due to Google translate.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
That was forever ago. I think it was Markiplier LOLLLL.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet, but want to?
I kinda want to try writing for The Haunting of Hill House but ugh I gotta finish it.
20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I really like “Roughed Up” or “Potions and Pacifiers”

Fic Questionnaire
Thanks for the tag @ford-ye-fiji ! This was so fun. Loved hearing your answers too 💕
How many works do you have on AO3? - 10
What's your total AO3 word count? - 34,955 (that’s more than I thought lol)
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? - Only two on AO3: X Company and The Umbrella Academy. But in total, offline.... probably about 10?   TUA, X-Company, Sherlock, Sherlock Holmes, Singing in the Rain, Star Trek (DS9, AOS, TOS, TNG), Chuck, Agent Carter, The Maze Runner, Merlin, King Arthur stories in general, and probably a few more I’m forgetting.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? - Living Between the Lines (123), In Some Sad Way I Already Know (87), Exercise in Trust (5), Special Training Camp 103 (4), and To Set Europe Ablaze (4). Clearly my TUA fics are the most popular XD
Do you respond to comments, why or why not? - Yes! I try to. I love talking to people about the characters or the story and hearing their thoughts.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? - Ohhh I wrote a fic for X-Company that dealt with the aftermath of a canon death. I never actually posted it anywhere because I can’t bring myself to edit it, it made me so sad XD
Have you ever recieved hate on a fic? - Nope! Everyone’s been super kind so far.
Do you write smut? If so what kind? - No.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? - Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated? - Nope. Once I get a better grasp on German though, I’d love to translate some of them myself.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? - Yes! I’ve written two with my friend. I don’t want her to find my Tumblr so I’m not going to say what they were XD
What's your all time favorite ship? - I’m not really into shipping, but I like Chuck and Sarah (Chuck) and Peggy and Sousa (Agent Carter). And to steal Fiji’s, Any Character/Happiness
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? - Probably one of my Deep Space Nine fics. It’s basically a classic sci-fi plot where Kira and Julian run into space-nazis (not literally XD) with plenty of angst thrown in there. I might finish someday, but it’s on the back-burner for now.
What are your writing strengths? - Stream of conscious segments. I love getting into a characters head and just letting them ‘talk.’ That and angst. I feel like I’m pretty good at that :P
What are your writing weaknesses? - Actually finishing things. Action scenes. And getting characters from one place to another. If I need to get one character from one room to the other, I sit and stare at the page and slowly lose my mind. (I love writing Five, he just blinks places and makes my job easier)
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? - I do it sometimes, usually only in languages I have basic knowledge of or if it’s really important to the story.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? - Heh... I don’t know if I want to admit this. It was Singin’ in the Rain. and it was THE ANGSTIEST thing ever. (still had a happy ending but GEEZ I just looked at those characters and decided to absolutely devastate them. I was a strange child)
What's your favorite fic you've ever written? - hmmm. I’m really fond of “Living Between the Lines.” I feel like I really got in Five’s head, and I love the conversation between him and Allison. But I’m also really proud of my DS9 fic (not the same one I mentioned before), which is the longest one I’ve ever written at 350ish pages. It’s not finished yet, but it was my baby last summer XD
Tagging (with no pressure of course!) @winter-came  @fitzrove @golden-wreath @trashheapofideas
