so this is a wip where I wanted it to be a short one-shot but it ran away from me lol so we got two areas:

1) the scene that originally inspired this au

Not only were the two tied together to a red string. No, the string was also one that looked like it was made of silk. It probably looked beautiful when it was created, but now its bright color is faded and almost dirty. There are holes, frayed edges, and spilled out threads. It’s the first string Macaque’s seen that looked like this: beat up and broken. The bitterness and some dumb ache in his heart seem to find themselves taking up space near his throat. Macaque shoves them down quickly, offended that such a sight would give him this reaction. Like he was bothered by the sight of the literal image of how fucked up his and Wukong’s relationship has become. He wants to rip it to shreds.
