Media analysis: Why are adults watching cartoons for children? They should watch age-appropriate media.
Children's Cartoons rn: here's a colorful show about some cute cartoon animals demonstrating how to express your emotions and be a functional family, while still being funny and relateable. There's also some queer characters and nobody in-universe is weird about that.
Adult Cartoons for the past Decade: Here is Poopshit the Idiot, all he does is Fart in the faces of his family and friends and spread general misery and chaos. The only morals are stupid and ironic, the only queer characters are shockingly outdated sterotypes, nobody moves unless they have to (saves on animation cost), our gags were written by 45 year olds on a deadline and influenced by dead comedians, and half of the content are non-sequiter gags that have nothing to do with the plot and the more basic and ugly the character design, THE BETTER.

i could make a video essay on why characters eating grapes in bluey is so uncanny
its literally like watching a cartoon with an early cgi babies or something. or those robots that are made to look like human faces. like the dogs in bluey are textually dogs and they act like dogs and call themselves dogs (at one point they specifically call themselves “dogs” as opposed to “animals”!) but they’re narratively people, act like people more than they act like dogs, they’re anthropomorphic dogs in a cartoon about being a human child.
the eating onions/grapes/chocolate/dairy thing crisscrosses that metaphor in weird ways for me i think because most cartoons with dogs make a point to not feed chocolate to your dog and bluey never does that because it needs to be more about humans than about dogs but they explicitly call themselves dogs. im aware that this is not as big of a deal as im pretending

Decided to read a interesting article about hazbin Hotel from the daily wire and it basically sounded like hazbin Hotel antis. That's probably why it was complete Dog shit the other article from a site called newsbusters basically called Viv a groomer. It's funny but it's not they didn't even watch the show.
Isn't The Daily Wire home to Ben Shapiro? You know, the guy that claims to not give a shit about the Barbie movie, but then made a long video essay talking shit about the Barbie movie? X3 The same people that legit thought they could rip off Bluey and no one would notice?
Those clowns?
Honestly, I would read that article just for a good laugh :3

Essayturgy
aka content creators, telegenics, Ted's Talkers
The Internet is a couple hundred miles wide but it is only about a few feet deep. There is so much content out there now that it is difficult to put the time aside to invest into anything. You want to watch that show that everyone else at work is watching? Well it is several seasons in and by the time you get a moment to watch it you have some homework you need to do. But that is ridiculous isn't it? TV and movies should be something you put on in the background as you relax from your day at work. When you play a video game you shouldn't have to invest time in lore or the miniscule textures of the world, you are still trying to figure out the texture of this world let alone a different world. I can't possibly know the entire history or background of a beef between two celebrities, I just don't have the time for investment. What if there was a way for you to get all the information up front in less than half the time it would take to engage? You go to YouTube (or some other video platform equivalent when YouTube explodes in the future) and you type about the topic you want to learn. Let's say that show your coworkers are talking about and bam, there is a four hour YouTube video about "X show is genius and here's why" or "The Consequences of Y character doing X". Now you can get the ins and outs of the entire show in half the time it would take. You find a couple of videos and you find some people you like and from there you find out they have an entire back catalog of other videos. "A retrospective of a show with 10 seasons" and it is 6 hours, you can watch it in the background while you are cooking dinner and you can chat with your friends about it by tomorrow.
Not only that but these videos also can provide hidden aspects of shows or movies you didn't see before. You can apply an entire philosophy or ideology to the ways and means of random or unconnected things and then create connective tissue between them. If you make a video convincing enough you can make people believe that a children's show is the best way to understand a foucauldian panopticon or you can say that a television personality is secretly part of an unsavory ideology due to hidden hand signals that they present while on live.
The sum total experience of anything can be filtered through one person (or a team of people) but you are going to see the face of one person as you go to source on certain topics. Right now there are media savvy alchemists that are taking the pure lead of time and engagement in learning about something and transmuting it into the gold of pure inexperienced knowledge. 100% pure unfiltered qualia right into your brain. You pour the time and hours in a video editor to create visual-auditory hallucinations of reality. Get a couple thousand views on a video, get a nice plaque for your studio, create a platform for your opinions and now you have become a thought leader for your chosen community whether it is the lore and deep dives of a day time television show or you are devoted to the developing lore of an off screen background character.
The central paradox of this school is that you are presenting your essay as the sum total knowledge on certain subjects without the viewer really experiencing it for themselves. They are fans or experts in fields they have no experience in.
Stats
The charging structure for Essayturges is based on a consistent narrative they present in their videos. They must build a platform through any medium of their choice as long as it is a video presented in an essay form. The video must be at least 30 minutes long and must present a topic whether it is a retrospective of a given topic and it must provide a theory or an idea that the topic is addressing. "Bluey is about the nuclear family and here's why" "FNAF is about the fall of/or the corruption of Mascot centered business" etc.
Essayturges can choose multiple topics to address but it is best and easier for an adept to focus on 2-3 topics at hand that way they can spin a constant narrative or idea about a given video. Essayturges cannot gain multiple charges of one video. One charge per video whether it is a minor or a major charge.
Generate a Minor Charge: Make a video that is 30 minutes or longer about a topic. The topic can be informative but it can also present a theory. The video must gain at least 1000 - 10,000 views over a week.
Generate a significant Charge: Make a video that presents a theory or an idea about a subject or a medium. The topic can be informative on the subject but it must present a theory related to the subject invented from whole cloth. The video must gain at least 10,000-100,000 in a month.
Generate a Major Charge: Make a video that casts doubt or upstages another video essayist. You must either provide proof or you must present proof that can be believed beyond doubt even if it is not true. The video must gain at least 500,000-1,000,000 views in two weeks.
Taboo: You can never correct yourself or admit you were wrong about any topic. You can update your theory or you can reword things you have said previously but you can never say that you were incorrect about any subject you presented.
Random Magick Domain: Being a Essayturgist is about changing people's or the audience's perspective to accept your understanding of a certain topic or subject matter. Once you have changed peoples understanding of a certain subject you can change how they think and substance of consensus reality. Reality is at the whims of your editing software.
Charging tips: You can work Essayist magick as a radio show DJ or a podcaster as long as you also film everything you release in tandem with your recording. As long as it is presented in an informative fashion. This goes with Ted talks as well, as long as they are filmed and placed on YouTube. The video you make does not have to be on your channel that you have made you just have to be the one presenting information and it must be on your terms. You can't charge from someone else making a video about you but if an interview you are in goes viral you can charge as long as you are guiding or controlling the narrative.
Essayturgy Minor Formula Spells:
Clout
Cost: 2 minor charge
A Essayturgy can cast this on themselves or anyone and they will appear extremely likeable or at least tolerable for a brief time. If someone is chasing you down wanting to kill you, they suddenly don't feel the desire to hurt or harm you and may just stop in there tracks completely. If someone is indifferent about you, you can turn them into a rabid fan briefly.
Like and subscribe
Cost: 1 minor charge
Have you ever had a thought that didn't feel like your own? Maybe it was a intrusive thought? Maybe a adept is trying to get you to say something you shouldn't or don't want to? With this spell you can make people tell you what is really on there mind. But it will only be exact what is not there mind. You can't extract secrets or interrogate them, they can only tell you what they are thinking at that exact moment.
Copyright strike
Cost: 2 minor charges
You can block something or someone out of view of another person or a group of people. This person for whatever reason will not be registered or viewed by anyone this is effecting. This spell will only work if you or the person under the effect of the spell is playing copyrighted music.
Stats for Nerds
Cost: 2 minor charges
With this effect you can learn specific details about any person. Usually it is only one thing and you typically will not be able to decide what you learn about that person but you will be able to learn about someone's exact date of birth or blood type.
Essayturgy Significant Formula Spells:
Hey Guys!
Cost: 2 significant charges
Essayturgists are strong personalities and have a particular sway over people, this spell enhances that three fold and allows for the adept to implant commands and suggests into a person or into a crowd of choice. If you work the ability on one person or a group of three the suggests are much stronger and last longer while of you where to cast it on a larger crowd it gets diffused and a weak suttle suggest that lasts only a minute or two. Casting the spell on one person you can make them a Manchurian candidate for 24 hours while casting it on a crowd of 15 you can have them look away from you for a brief period of time.
Fix it in post
Cost: 2significant charge
You can change the outcome of a event or a action that happened 5-10 minutes in the past. If your friend gets hit by a car you can go back a minute before it happens and hold them back or redirect the car to crash into a wall.
Major Charge Effects
You can choose one person to retroactively erase from existence. You can pick one day to repeat for 24 hours in a select location, such as a small town or a certain building.

who in strollonso would watch more bluey
This is why I'm on Tumblr. This ask just resulted in me googling Bluey (because I never know any show lol -) and watching a video essay on it and an episode of the show.
Now, who in Strollonso would watch more of this cartoon.
First of all, are you trying to make me imagine them with kids?? Cause it totally worked. Seems to be a real family feel good show. I cannot decide ahh. Maybe they'd watch it together?
Although I can totally imagine Tiktok-era-Fernando finding clips of it there and accidentally binge-watching it, with one of these slime videos covering the other half of the screen-

Okay I’ve also been thinking about Oscar a lot and I think in my mind he’s kinda similar to Alex in a way?? Like doesn’t drop fully but is absolutely down for whatever activity their respective little is doing- will sit and colour happily, will get invested in make believe games & toys, will sit through cartoons and find themselves invested… sort of like an inbetween
Like I can see Oscar and Lando playing together in the same way I can see Alex playing with Georgie, maybe it starts off as keeping the little one entertained until Daniel/Carlos/Lewis/Seb (delete as applicable) shows up, but before long they’re both having the time of their lives watching Bluey or playing with play doh (no, I cannot stop thinking about that McLaren toy video), big responsibilities gone out of their minds, and yes I don’t think either Alex or Oscar drop to the extend Lando & George do, but I def think they find it relaxing and therapeutic in a similar way…
(Sorry for the essay!!!)
deffo deffo deffo!!!!!!
also big same on the McLaren video, very many thoughts on them playing play do together.

Tag people you want to get to know better
Thanks @strangesoulmates for tagging me!
Three ships (As I’m writing this out I’m realising they all have pretty similar themes, I guess I have somewhat consistent taste, this is all just reminders of humanity, enemies to lovers, trying to kill each other and excuses to cover my blorbos in blood.)
1.) Alex/Yassen
Can I be controversial and admit this one took a lot of convincing? Originally I was expecting the fandom to be more into ‘unlikely parental figure’ Yassen (which is a trope I’m an absolute sucker for.) but any way these two characters interact is interesting to me, and I’ve definitely come round to it from a perspective of this is only ‘healthy’ because it’s them and no one else can really understand them like the other can, and if it’s not ‘healthy’ it’s all dubious and quite fun. Big sucker for the (sort of one sided?) enemies to lovers, borderline obsession, as character foils of each other, with Yassen kind of representing Alex’s future and the dichotomy of like... sunshine puppy and murder kitty vibes. Then there’s the loyalty to each other before their ‘side’, different worlds and different morals but a unique understanding of each other.
(Also worth mentioning that I like Yassen with basically any Rider - I don’t see John/Yassen as anything but unhealthy hero worship/daddy issues/manipulation but that itself is still interesting, and I’m a huge sucker for Ian/Yassen, either as like an old married couple or people who have a few brief, but very intense encounters throughout their lives. I feel like there’s been a bit of a ‘Yiannaissance’ recently that I’m really enjoying. Do we have an official ship name? Yian? Iassen? Neither seem great.)
2.) Jonathon Reid/Geoffrey McCullum.
Peak different sides, enemies to lovers, vampire hunter and powerful newborn vampire in 1918 London in the grip of a pandemic, great gothic industrial vibe. I played this game obsessively during lockdown. (Can’t imagine why.) Themes of duty and purpose and humanity and horror, the game sort of rushes you into a forced romance with one of the female characters but the chemistry between these two is insane they are kind of obsessed with each other and the fight that happens when one of them tries to kill the other is just TEEMING with homoeroticism.
3.) Villanelle/Eve Polastri
First two seasons of Killing Eve are some of the best television ever created. The theatricality of the murders, and the comedy contrasted with some just devastating moments, the OUTFITS. That ending really took the wind out of my sails with this one and kind of spoiled it for me but what was there with the themes of mutual obsession, both trying to kill each other, Villanelle drawing out this dark side of Eve that has always been there, Eve drawing out this humanity that also been in Villanelle, just the whole vibe of being the only people in the world who could possibly understand the other properly and hating that so much you try and kill each other before realising they can’t be apart.
First Ship - I think the first one I really went insane for was Morrigan/Warden from DA:O. Morrigan helped me realise I was a lesbian I was so in love with her. Still am tbh.
Last song - ‘King’ by Florence + the Machine, I went to her concert this week and she ran right past me it was amazing.
Last Movie - finally got round to watching Everything Everywhere All at Once, so incredible!
Currently reading - chapter 3 of ‘The Viking Diaspora’ by Judith Jesch for my seminar tomorrow. (I really want to read more novels this year!)
Currently watching - His Dark Materials, interspersed with weird niche YouTube video essays, and mildly embarrassing amounts of Bluey.
Currently consuming: last thing I ate was some cinnamon raisin bread with one of the fancy jams I got in the jam advent calendar I bought myself. Now I need to figure out where I can find pineapple and yuzu jam bc I want to eat it forever.
Currently craving: supermarket bakery chocolate chip cookies, and some sweet and spicy fried chicken.
Tagging @countessrivers and whoever else fancies!

This is quite possibly the best video essay of the best episode of Bluey
Oh damn and of course, it uses the one episode that had me crying each time I watched it. It is a pretty great essay too, even pointed out some things that I didn't even notice despite watching it so many times

23 + 19?
thank you so much for sending a couple in!! 23. Do you listen to music or watch shows while you work? If so, what's your favourite?
I can ONLY work if i have something playing tbh, be it a movie/show, a video essay, or music. like i cannot draw without SOMETHING my favorite lately has either been that lo-fi girl music stream (either the studying one or the sleeping one), or i put pandora on to either a kpop or dubstep/edm station i've also lately been watching a lot of Bluey while drawing though, it's so nice and chill. and i recently did like my 5th or 6th rewatch of BotBots LOL
19. Favourite character(s) to draw?
G1 Starscream maybe, but it's possible that that's because he's one of the few TFs i can draw from memory
besides him, definitely Lady Macaron. she has SO many fun shapes and a fun silhouette and good colors and i just absolutely adore her.
also biased obviously but i love drawing Cott & Candi, i know i did good on their designs because i have fun drawing them over and over LOL

JUST FOUND UR BLOG! its cool as fuck. ive been contemplating what my classpect was and i saw u were doing rqs for em so i decided to shoot my shot and see what u thought!
What are your interests/hobbies?
I'm passionate about anything creative (like art and writing) and I love getting to know the characters from my favorite pieces of media (namely Infinity Train, big interest of mine and it focuses on exploring the flaws of its characters) I also really enjoy comforting shows like Bluey and MLP, shows from my childhood, or anything of that nature. Game-wise I really like Splatoon, Minecraft, FNAF, Undertale/Deltarune (I'm also super interested in their lore as well) I think overall I just latch onto things that I can squeeze all the information out of? I also like watching theory crafting videos about the things I like as well!! + Video essays in general u_u
How do you see yourself?
I struggle a lot with understanding myself and my identity tbh! The way I see myself sort of fluctuates day to day or i feel like i dont "know" who I am clearly... (feel like that could factor into classpects a bunch lol) besides that I see myself as someone who's kind and empathetic, I wanna see the good in everyone I suppose, and avoid conflict. But that also makes it hard for me to form opinions on people? I wanna see things from all sides but sometimes it leaves me confused. And that also ties into me being really indecesive :P
How do you think others see you?
I would say my friends find me an easy person to talk to! But outside of that I think my peers or strangers view me as sort of lonely or closed-off since I'm really introverted and not very fun to converse with if we aren't close. I am openly an artist so I know most people think of my art when they think of me as well!
How do you interact with your friends?
I try to be a safe space for them! I love making jokes and just generally looking at funny things with them, or talking about the things we like. There's a few people I talk to everyday and I enjoy their presence a bunch! I'm also super affectionate and like exchanging I-love-yous with the people Im close with <:) I also like collaborating with them on stories and art stuff! Lots of fun.
What’s important to you? (Specific people, ideas, morals, objects, ect.)
My friends by far! They make me really happy and I wouldn't be the same person without them. I also strongly believe in the idea that everyone has the capacity to be a good person and stuff like that, caring for and aiding people that have made mistakes. I think things would be a lot better in the world if people just decided to care for others more often!!! and see their point of view!
Describe the ideal you, what kind of person do you strive to be?
I wanna be a person that anyone feels safe around, and also someone who can make people laugh ^_^ I also wanna be able to feel comfortable in my own skin and confident in my decisions and confident overall.
ANYWAY. appreciate you for taking time out of ur day to reply if you do <:) - 🎸
Hi, thank you! I'm happy you like what I'm doing here ^_^
Aspects: Space, Light, Life
Classes: Witch, Sylph, Heir
Witch of Space seems most likely to me, with Witch of Light and Witch of Life as 2nd and 3rd!
Hope this helps!
