I think it’s also really interesting that SMT V pushes you towards the miracles without actually having aogami say something like “maybe we should change our affinities young man.” Like you start weak to force & dark - Hydra has Dark, the Andras you have to kill for the main quest have force, Followed by Nuwa with Force, & there’s the optional boss of Pazuzu who has both + Leanan Sidhe with dark, and if you still haven’t changed your affinities by the time you leave Da’at for the first time it throws Lahmu at you who only uses Dark skills. It also encourages not just picking like, the Daemon essence for hydra and sticking with that because the optional Shiki-Ouji has hama AND mudo, nuwa has mazio, and a lot of the second area enemies use electric skills.
It’s similar to the number of skills that boost power on crit, and there just happens to be a magatsuhi skill that guarantees crit. So like, of course you’re going to use the magatsuhi skills
It’s good game design.

Beyond
Based on Leon Bridge’s song “Beyond” (one of my absolute favorites). I have so many unfinished drafts, so I decided to go ahead and finish this one. It’s probably terrible, badly proofread, etc., but, if you can, enjoy it :)
btw just about everything in here is completely made up from my imagination, so I’m sorry if there are inaccuracies or anything of the such.
Warnings: cursing, anxiety, birth, slight NSFW (not very detailed though), probably loads of other things but this is all my corrupt brain can think of as of right now
Don’t want to get ahead of myself
Feeling things I’ve never felt
It’s kind of hard for me to explain
Her personality and everything
Brings me to my knees
Jack Hughes was normally one of the most confident individuals. Not in a cocky or arrogant way, but in a way that he knew what he was capable and had to offer, and there wasn’t much that could waiver that feeling.
As soon as Dawson Mercer brought his sister to one of the team’s formal dinners since Ryleigh was out of town, every bit of confidence that Jack had faded into a puddle of self consciousness. He had always prided himself with being smooth with the ladies, but Y/N Mercer was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on. Her beauty didn’t stop at her looks though, no. She had this ability to captivate Jack, almost trance like. Jack was hanging onto every word of hers, and laughing when she would be quirky or funny.
Jack had never felt this way before. Every time him and Y/N would make eye contact he would fidget with his button up, run his fingers through his hair, and he even caught himself biting his nails a couple of times. Nico picked up on this behavior immediately, and really everybody else that knew Jack did too. This was so out of character for the man, so it was easy to connect the dots to the new girl in the room. Nico decided to rescue his friend from himself, pulling him to the side, away from everybody, and checking in on him.
“Are you ok?” Nico asked, forcing Jack to turn his back on Y/N and pay attention to him.
“Y-yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?” Jack feigned confusion, but immediately began to grin. He knew he got caught, and couldn’t help but feel like this was such a boyish crush.
“Yeah that’s what I thought,” Nico chuckled. “Get it together or else she’s going to think you’re crazy,” Nico gave him a little liquid encouragement from his flask that he kept in his suit jacket and pushed his friend back to where the beautiful Mercer was standing.
Once the conversation was dying within the group, and Y/N had gone to get a drink, Jack followed. Y/N’s back was turned to him, so he gave her shoulder a feather tap with his finger. Jack subconsciously had moved over a bit, causing him to be out of view from the direction in which he tapped. Y/N looked over the original shoulder, and then to the other to see Jack. His face was beet red and he let out a nervous laugh.
“Sorry, um, I’m Jack, but you probably already know that since Dawson is one of my friends,” Jack was looking everywhere except Y/N’s face while he fidgeted his fingers. He was so absolutely mortified of his behavior, but as soon as Y/N opened her mouth his eyes shot up to her. Her voice was angelic, calming and he could sit and listen to her read a phone book.
“Yeah I’ve definitely heard some interesting stories about you. Not too bad though,” she giggled and Jack could feel his heart flutter.
“At least they’re not too bad, haha. Um, I just wanted to ask if you maybe would be available to go get lunch somewhere, or dinner. Really anything that works with your schedule,” Jack rambled on. His teammates, including Dawson, were watching the scene go down. It was absolutely painful watching the always confident professional hockey player melt into a puddle of goop before Y/N, but Dawson couldn’t help but feel a little pride that his sister was the reason.
“Yeah, that would be nice,” Y/N replied with a smile.
“Awesome! Yeah just let me know when, or I’ll ask you and see what works,” Jack felt a little weight off of his chest and turned to walk away.
“Oh, you’re number?” Y/N asked and Jack could feel his cheeks heat up. How stupid did he have to be to forget to ask for her number?
“Yeah, sorry about that,” he apologized and handed Y/N his phone so that she could type in her number. He then sent her a text message so that she would have his. They exchanged smiles, but kept distance for the rest of the night. Jack reunited with Nico and Dawson, finally feeling like he could breathe again.
“That was painful to watch,” Nico laughed. Jack flipped him off and looked at Dawson, who sported the biggest grin on his face.
“I don’t know what the fuck your parents did to create her, but that is a literal angel. Can I please take your sister out on a date?” Jack breathed out, eliciting a laugh from his two friends.
“Yeah, bud. Don’t fuck it up though. You think she’s an angel now, but you don’t want to get on her bad side,” Dawson admitted. Jack smiled, so excited to get to know this mysterious girl that has him absolutely folding.
She shines me up like gold on my arm
I wanna take it slow but it’s so hard
I love to see her face in daylight
It’s more than just our bodies at night
But she’s really temptin’ me, ooh
It had been a solid 3 months since Jack and Y/N had started going out. They didn’t wear a label yet, and the thought of rushing whatever this was absolutely terrified Jack. He had been on the bad end of many relationships, but none of them felt like this. Y/N accompanied Jack to many NHL events and awards, and everybody always commented on how happy the boy was. He couldn’t take any credit though because it was all Y/N.
After he had gotten over his initial nerves, it was like the two had known each other their whole lives. They connected on such a deeper level than just “liking” each other. It was like everything in the universe drove them together. So much so that the physical aspect of what they had was no match to their emotional and mental connection.
Jack wouldn’t lie, there were several times where Y/N would wear things that just made him feel THAT way, but he always managed to keep those feelings in check. The two had kissed, but that’s as far as it had gone so far. That is until their date to the lake.
The annual Hughes’ lake house vacation was in full swing, and this summer Jack decided to invite Y/N. He had planned a romantic date for the two: a picnic on a blanket by the water at sunset. He had packed sandwiches, wine, a homemade charcuterie board, and candles. This girl really had him in the palm of her hand. He was willing to do anything to express the love he felt for her.
They didn’t dress up, both wearing their swimsuits, and that was the problem. Y/N kept glancing at Jack’s body, almost hungrily, hoping he wouldn’t notice. However, when she wasn’t looking, Jack was biting his lip and trying to keep his friend under control.
The dinner went smoothly, and the sunset was breathtaking. As Y/N started to talk about the beauty of the sunset, Jack couldn’t control himself and smashed his lips on hers, his hands cupping her face gently while her hands went to his sides. He laid her down gently, supporting his weight with one arm and letting his fingers caress her skin with the other arm.
This wasn’t like any other kiss that they had before now. The passion that exuded from their bodies was far too great to be confined into a simple kiss. Things got heated to the point where Y/N lost her top in the middle of things. Jack wanted so bad to continue to show her with his mouth how much she meant to him, but he couldn’t help but think that she deserves better than having this moment in the dirt by a lake.
“Y/N I can’t let this be our first time. I need this to be perfect, and getting dirt in places where dirt shouldn’t be is not how I want to remember this,” he panted out. Y/N was slightly disappointed, but her heart grew when she realized that Jack was absolutely in love with her. She smiled, placed a peck on his nose, and placed her top back on.
The walk back to the house was about 10 minutes, and they never let their hands fall apart. They laughed and shared longing glances as they returned to the rest of the boys.
Do you think I’m being foolish if I don’t rush in?
I’m scared to death that she might be it
That the love is real
That the shoe might fit
She might just be my everything and beyond (beyond)
Space and time in the afterlife
Will she have my kids will she be my wife?
She might just be my everything and beyond
“Dude there’s no way you two have been going out for almost 4 months and still haven’t had sex,” Trevor was absolutely shocked. He knew his best friend like the back of his hand, and he didn’t think that Jack had gone 1 month, let alone 4, without sleeping with whatever girl he was with.
“Man, you don’t get it. This one is special. This one deserves for everything to be perfect before she gives herself to me. I can’t let it be in some hotel room that we’re at during the season. Like she’s actually got me thinking about waiting until we’re married,” Jack admitted. He just couldn’t ruin this relationship with her.
He finally asked her to be his girlfriend a few weeks ago, and everything was going so good, but there still wasn’t a time where he felt was perfect for them to take that next step.
“Woah there buddy, marriage?” Trevor’s jaw fell open as he grabbed his phone and turned the speaker button off and put it to his ear.
“Yeah, Z. She’s perfect. There’s never going to be anyone that makes me feel the way she does,” Jack smiled at the thought of building a future with such a special woman. It terrifies him to no end to know that a single person has this sort of effect on him, but he just began to embrace it eventually.
“Do you have a time frame for marriage?” Trevor asked.
“I don’t want to rush things, but I’ve already bought a ring and I’m thinking about doing it when we go home for Christmas,” Jack admitted.
“Oh yeah, no rush, just planning on getting engaged this year, already bought a ring, but no rush,” Trevor mocked, “You’re so fucking whipped, it’s disgusting,” Trevor groaned.
“Nah, Z-Man. I’m so fucking in love,” Jack chuckled on the other end of the phone thinking about his girl.
“Yeah, whatever, shut the fuck up, lover boy,” Trevor was slightly jealous of Jack’s relationship. He could only dream about finding somebody he could love as much as Jack loved Y/N. As much as he was jealous, he was just as happy to see Jack be so happy.
The two hung up the phone and Jack went to admire the ring. A part of him wanted to pop the question tomorrow, but the other part wanted everything to be planned out and perfect. He also was trying really hard not to rush into a marriage, which was a terrifying feeling. Holding yourself back from taking the next step and committing your life to somebody that you are absolutely in love with…there’s no other feeling like it. Jack wanted her for the rest of his life, but he had about 8 months to plan for the most important question of his life.
I wanna bring her ‘round to meet ya
I think you’d like her kind demeanor
I know that Grandma would’ve loved her
Like she was her own
She makes me feel at home
The first time that Jack brought Y/N home to meet his family in Michigan was nerve wracking at first, but turned into memories that he would treasure forever. Luke knew Y/N, but the rest of his family hadn’t gotten the chance to in the 5 months that they had been dating. Schedules were difficult to work with, but when the first opportunity to hop on a plane with Jack to Michigan arose, Y/N jumped on the idea. If his family was anything like him, Y/N would love them.
Jack, on the other hand, wanted them to love her as much as he did. Not that he didn’t think Y/N was good enough for his family, she was perfect. He was scared that his family would be too picky. They expected a lot out of each other, and Y/N was perfect as she was. He just wanted them to see that.
Once they reached the Hughes’ home, Y/N was beaming, and Jack was admiring her giddiness to meet everybody.
They grabbed their bags, and Jack went through the front door. There was a chorus of “Hellos” and hugs before Jack finally took a deep breath in and out.
“Mom, Dad, Quinn, this is Y/N. We’ve been dating for about 5 months now,” he smiled at his girl who was going to hug everybody. God, he loved her so much, and he soon would find out that his family adored her as well.
Later that night, after everyone had ate dinner Jack got the opportunity to sit down with just his mom. They talked about how his life was going, the things he would change about his approach at hockey for the next season, and they finally got on the topic of Y/N.
“So Y/N? How serious are we talking here?” Ellen flashed a cheeky grin at her middle son. As much as she loved him, she knew he held a reputation as a slight player. She was honestly surprised that her son had a relationship that had lasted this long.
“Don’t freak out on me, ok? Let me explain,” Jack began. Ellen looked very confused, but nodded for him to continue.
“I’ve bought a ring,” He stated as Ellen still looked confused.
“Like a promise ring?” She genuinely didn’t think that it was a possibility for him to have bought a wedding ring, like the thought never registered with her until Jack began to rub the back of his neck and began to explain.
“Not exactly. I bought a wedding ring a little while back. But I’m not planning on proposing until around December,” He explained as Ellen’s eyes grew wide and she sucked in her lips, biting them to hold back a miniature freak out.
“Honey, I love you so much. I admire the heart you have and how you love others, I truly do. But what the hell are you thinking? Do you know how much can happen in 8 months? What if she gets cold feet or wants to break up?” Ellen was whisper-yelling at him, trying her best to prevent the others from hearing Jack’s little secret.
The truth is Jack knew his mom had a point, but at the same time nobody truly knew how close Jack and Y/N were. They spent every free moment together and supported each other in all that they did. He just had to trust himself, which is what he had been doing this whole time and it’s paid off so far.
“Mom, I just know that’s who I’m supposed to marry. She’s kind, thoughtful, so selfless. Like when I think about my life partner, there’s nobody else that could possibly fulfill that role. When I think about the person I want my kids to learn from, Y/N is the only person that I would trust to help raise our kids with determination and morals. Please just trust me,” Jack was practically begging his mom.
Ellen couldn’t help but smile at the young love. The mom part of her was petrified that her son would get hurt, but watching Y/N treat them with respect and kindness backed up her son’s words about the girl. She had also never seen her son like this, so he had to be telling the truth.
As she got up from the couch, she ruffled her sons hair and kissed his forehead. “You’re crazy, but I love you,” she whispered in his ear, causing Jack to smiled up at her.
“Love you too, mom,” he blushed at the thought of Y/N Mercer turning into Y/N Hughes.
I give up, I’m in love cryin’ out to you
Oh me, oh my I can’t explain
She might just be my everything
The eight months that followed after his chat with his mom flew by, and now here everybody was gathered at his grandparents house on his dad’s side. Even though his mom’s side was Jewish, his dad’s side still celebrated Christmas with them being catholic. He had made sure to find time and communicate that with Y/N so that they would be making the get together with one another.
He wanted to make sure that Y/N had met everybody in his family before committing to a life with him. He didn’t want to propose in front of everybody, but he definitely needed a little moral support from his immediate family.
Without any doubt, his entire family adored Y/N. She got along with all of his cousins and aunts and uncles, and his grandparents went on and on about how she’s too good for Jack. He fell even more in love with her, if possible, when he caught her playing Barbie’s with some of the younger kids. He pulled his brothers to the side while Y/N was preoccupied to let them in on his plan.
“What I’m about to tell you two must stay between us. The only other people that know is Y/N’s family and mom and dad, ok? Well, and maybe Trevor, but that’s besides the point,” He began.
“I’m asking Y/N to marry me tonight. I’ve got it planned where we’re going to the dock where I’ve got people setting up marquee letters, there’s going to be fireworks and there’s flowers leading the way down there. I’m so fucking nervous right now, like almost as nervous as I was the first time I met her. Please just talk me down,” he rambled on.
Meanwhile his brothers were in shock. They knew that their brother was in love, but it had only been about a year and a half since the two had gone on their first date.
“Look I know you need words of encouragement, but what the fuck, Jack? Why are we just now finding out?” Quinn was the first to speak up, slightly hurt that he was just now hearing of this, but he soon could see how much this meant to his brother, so he warmed up to the idea.
“I needed it to be kept absolute secret. Y/N couldn’t even get a feeling that it was somewhere on the horizon,” Jack explained.
His brothers talk to him for about 30 minutes before people were starting to leave the get together. Jack noticed this and gave a glance to his mom for their family to leave. Jack and Y/N hugged everybody goodbye and drove back to the Hughes home with the rest of his immediate family. They made it there, Jack texting all of the people involved in the proposal eagerly, making sure everything was going as planned.
As they all got out of the vehicle, Jack took Y/N’s hand, smiling at her.
“Why don’t we take a late night walk by the lake? Just a quick one?” Jack asked. Y/N was a bit puzzled, but pulled her jacket tighter and following her boyfriend.
The two talked, walking slowly towards the frozen water. Y/N’s laughter and constant gazing at Jack distracted her from that of the marquee letters for as long as possible until the lights caught her attention and she realized that she was walking on rose petals. The words “Marry Me?” shining through the cold Michigan night.
Jack’s hands were sweating despite the freezing temperatures, but he continued to lead his girl closer to the lights with her hand in his. He could hear her sniffling and glanced over to see tears steaming down her face.
Once they reached the wooden dock, Jack grabbed her other hand and turned her body towards him.
“Y/N Mercer, you’re my absolute best friend. You are the only person that I truly feel this type of love for. I miss you the second I’m away from you, and I count down the minutes until I can see you again. I’ve truly tried to do everything right in this relationship, not rushing things, waiting until marriage, and I just want to be able to spend all of my waking moments with you. I can not bear to think of a life where I don’t have you, and I can’t help but feel like everyday I’m not married to you is a day I’m losing with you,” With that he pulled the Tiffany blue ring box out of his jacket and got down on one knee.
Y/N was almost sobbing at this point, her hands covering her nose and mouth as she watched her best friend on one knee. He truly had done everything right, and it wasn’t even a question if she would marry him.
“Y/N Mercer, will you do me the absolute honor of taking my last name and being my life partner?” Jack asked.
Y/N managed to nod her head, but she didn’t think she could form the ‘yes’ if she tried. She was practically bawling and Jack was infatuated with her.
“Is that a yes,” Jack chuckled and began to put the ring on her finger. She nodded feverishly and leaned into him as he stood up. They shared a passionate kiss, the only thing that could distract them from this moment was the fireworks over the lake and the cheers from the house.
“Oh my God I love you,” Y/N cried as she laid her head on Jack’s shoulder and admired the fireworks.
Once the show had ended they made their way back to the house where they were not only greeted by the Hughes, but also the Mercers. Jack’s brothers and Dawson hugged him and the moms hugged Y/N. Y/N truly couldn’t think of better person for her. She loved his family and him. She couldn’t wait to share a last name with her soulmate.
Space and time in the afterlife
Will she have my kids?
Will she be my wife?
She might just be my everything and beyond
Jack and Y/N had an engagement that lasted 6 months. They both felt like they had just enough time to plan their dream wedding and not feel rushed. Their wedding was absolutely stunning. The cake, the venue, her dress…everything was better than imagined.
Nothing topped the moment, however, when Jack saw Y/N in her wedding dress for the first time walking down the aisle with her dad. Jack’s breath hitched and he felt tears stinging his eyes. He tried to keep it together, he really did, but when Quinn gave his shoulder a squeezed, and Jack looked over at tears in his older brother’s eyes, he began to let his tears fall as well.
Y/N was absolutely stunning. Jack truly didn’t understand how he had managed to not only catch her attention at that party so many months ago, but how in the world had he kept her.
Her dad had announced that him and Y/N’s mom were giving her away and he turned to hug Jack. He gave him a squeeze and whispered in his ear before letting go, “We love you, Kid.” Jack nodded and thanked him.
The ceremony was stunning, and their vows were endearing.
“Jack Hughes, before we get to the sappy stuff I just need to let everybody know how we happened,” Y/N chuckled, her voice hitching when she glanced at him, a tear streaming down Jack’s face.
“Jack Rowdy Hughes was an absolute mess the first night I had met him,” and with that everybody laughed, especially the Devils players that were there to witness the tragedy that was a love stricken Hughes Brother.
“I had always heard stories from Dawson about how bold and straightforward you were, but that night I feel like I knew who you were immediately. You were a man who’s heart held so much love that you couldn’t contain it. I’m so happy and blessed to say that you haven’t wavered, but gotten stronger in your love. You have showed me what true love should look and feel like, and there will never be another person like you. I promise to love, support, and cherish you until my heart stops beating. I promise to calm you down when you chew the ref out for bad calls, and to love you even when you are missing a few teeth. I can’t wait to begin this life with you as your life partner,” Y/N concluded, squeezing Jack’s hand as he composed himself enough to begin his vows.
He had been skeptical at writing his own vows, but in this moment he knew exactly what to say.
“I really wasn’t expecting you to out me like that, but I can’t say anything because it’s true,” He laughed, causing a chain reaction in the wedding guests.
“Y/N Mercer, I knew you were going to be my wife the second I laid eyes on you. I didn’t know how, or when, but I knew that when I envisioned my future, you were there at every important moment. If I’m being honest, I bought that ring a little over 3 months of dating you. Nobody understands me quite the way you do. Sometimes we don’t even have to tell each other how we feel, it’s merely a look and we know. I promise to always put you first. I promise to love you with every single fiber of my being. My life has been filled with so much love and joy since knowing you, and I can’t wait to feel that for the rest of my life,” Jack concluded.
The two exchanged rings and the priest prayed over the two.
“It’s with the utmost privilege that I pronounce you man and wife. Jack, you may kiss your bride,” And at those words Jack smiled at his new wife and planted a loving, eager, tender kiss on her lips.
———
After the wedding, the two could not get enough of each other’s bodies. Waiting for over a year to have sex had built up so many thoughts, and needless to say the two were always busy. After Trevor and Caufield had walked in on them in the middle of it, it was a known fact to knock before coming into their house.
The two weren’t planning on kids anytime soon, but honestly they weren’t trying to prevent it. Money wasn’t an issue, Y/N had landed and job where she could work from home, and they had just recently adopted a puppy that kept her company when she missed Jack during the hockey season.
After feeling like she had the flu for what felt like two weeks, she finally did the math of when her last period was and began to freak out. As soon as she possibly could, she ran to target and bought a variety of different tests, knowing that she was going to take so many of them to be sure whether she was or wasn’t pregnant.
She took about 4, leaving them face up on the bathroom counter as she walked out. She couldn’t possibly just sit there and wait for the results. After her timer on her phone had gone off, she nervously made her way back to the tests. She felt dizzy as every single one indicated that she was, in fact, pregnant.
Jack wouldn’t be home for another 3 days, so she successfully managed to keep her mouth shut about it while she came up with a way to tell him. She managed to get an appointment with her OBGYN and took home the sonograms that were made, the baby so tiny it was hardly noticeable.
She picked out a cute onesy, took a fresh pregnancy test, and placed the sonogram all carefully into a gift bag and left it out on the counter when Jack got home. He curiously walked over to the back and looked at Y/N.
“What’s this for?” He questioned, causing a smile to inch onto his wife’s face.
“Just open it,” Y/N replied, to which he raised his eyebrows cautiously and carefully removed the paper.
The first thing he saw was the onesy, so he was a little confused. But when he saw the sonogram and the test he snapped his head toward his wife.
“Are you serious?” He didn’t think that she would joke about this, but he was in complete shock.
Y/N nodded and made her way to him. They both had tears glistening in their eyes as they embraced. He pulled away from Y/N slightly and looked her in the eyes.
“I’m actually going to be a dad, and you’re actually going to be a mom?” He already knew the answer, but he just needed to hear it from you again.
“Yes, my love. We’re going to be parents!” Y/N squealed.
———
Telling everybody was one of their favorite parts about the pregnancy. Getting to see everybody so excited, and seeing all of the love that was shown to their new little family was amazing.
As soon as Y/N had a visible bump, Jack was obsessed with it. He would rant to it about stupid calls during a game, he would attempt to sing to it, and he would pepper it with kisses all the time. Sometimes he would accidentally let a few curse words slip to it, earning him a thump from Y/N, but she secretly enjoyed seeing him so fascinated with it.
When the bump grew bigger and Y/N struggled with back pain, he would hold her belly for her while she enjoyed the pressure being taken away slightly. As much as she enjoyed feeling the little kicks and flutter, the little one was running out of room to move around, causing mama to struggle with the basics like breathing and walking.
Y/N was at 39 weeks and was feeling absolutely miserable. She felt bad because she was quick to snap at Jack, but he knew it was only because of the life growing inside of her.
The Devil’s had just made it to the playoffs, but had a few days between their next game. Jack was weary to leave the house, even if it was to go practice. He was scared to death that he would somehow be late, or miss his baby’s birth.
After coming home from a pretty intense practice, he found that Y/N was walking laps around their house.
“Babe, you ok?” Jack’s concern seeped through his voice.
“No. I need this baby out. I’m losing my mind,” she groaned. Jack chuckled at this.
“Can we please have sex? I have tried everything else and it’s not working. I’ve tried exercise balls, walking, spicy foods, literally every single thing. I made a list from TikTok videos of things that can induce labor and none of it is working. What I haven’t tried is sex, though,” Y/N rambled on as Jack slowly made his way to his wife. He smirked and grabbed her hips as he led her to their bedroom.
Yeah he was tired and sweaty and actually disgusting, but if Y/N wanted to have sex then that’s what he was going to do.
After undressing each other, Jack laid on his back and had Y/N straddle him. They were extremely limited in the positions they could do, but being on top was equally enjoyable for both of them.
Y/N let out a low moan as soon as she felt him inside of her. She sat still for a few seconds, adjusting to Jack, but then began to bounce up and down.
Jack helped out when he could feel her slow down, supporting her under her thighs and giving her an extra push.
When they swapped positions to doggy style, it didn’t take long for Jack to feel close to the edge. Just as he was about to get off, he felt liquid drip out of Y/N as she let out a hiss.
“Babe that’s a little rough,” she groaned.
“Y/N I think your water just broke, holy shit,” he tried to stay calm, but he was freaking out.
Y/N wasn’t in any significant pain, it just felt like the Braxton Hicks contractions she had been enduring for a few days, that is until she felt a searing pain shoot through her.
“I think we need to go to the hospital,” She announced and Jack immediately got together the hospital bag. The car seat was already in the car, and they were off to the hospital.
They kept track of how far apart each contraction was, and it was averaging about 3 minutes.
Once they got checked into a room, Y/N was able to relax, following all of the steps of her birthing plan.
Jack watched in complete awe. He admired the strength that his wife exuded. She was incredible.
With each contraction, Jack made sure to let her squeeze his hand as tight as she needed to. He tried to help her control her breathing, and all he wished was for the pain to go away and for their baby to be here already.
When the time came to push, he could tell that Y/N was a little scared.
“I don’t know if I can do this,” she cried to Jack. Jack rubbed her shoulders in reassurance.
“Babe you are so fucking strong. You didn’t come this far to back out. You can do anything, especially bring our baby into this world,” he encouraged her. That’s all she needed in order to do just that.
With 4 pushes later, the sound of crying filled the room along with tears from Jack and Y/N. Jack couldn’t help it, he started to sob with Y/N as soon as he saw the baby’s tiny figure. Sure it was a little gross looking with all of the goop on it, but he didn’t care. It was his family that they had built together.
“Congratulations you two! It’s a baby girl,” the doctor announced as he placed the baby on Y/N’s chest. Jack wouldn’t mind being a girl dad, he was ecstatic.
After Baby Hughes was cleaned off and the nurses and doctor checked Y/N out, the three of them had their own time together, alone, for the first time.
“So we do know what we’re going to name her, right?” Jack questioned. The two of them had discussed names for a while now, but Jack honestly couldn’t remember what was decided.
“Ella Dawson Hughes,” Y/N announced. Ella came from Ellen, and Dawson was obvious since without him none of this would be happening.
“Absolutely perfect,” Jack managed to croak out.
After a few hours, the two decided to allow visitors to come in and see the baby. The families were first, followed by just about the whole Devils team, then came the various other NHL players like Trevor, Jamie, Caufield and Turcotte. It was such a beautiful thing to watch these tough athletes turn to mush around such a tiny human. It was even more heartwarming when they hugged Y/N and Jack, filled with so much pride for the two of them.
When the last of the visitors left for the day and it was just Jack holding a sleeping baby Ella, and a sleeping Y/N, he let more tears fall. As much as he had loved his wife, nothing could have prepared him for the surplus of emotions his heart was going through watching his best friend become a mom, and seeing the result of their love coming into fruition.
Baby Ella scrunched her nose, letting out a small cry.
“It’s ok, my love. Daddy loves you,” he let her grip his finger and rocked her slightly, lulling her back to sleep.
This was his life, and he was totally in love with it.

Alone In The Big City Commentary
Hello everyone, @loreholdlesbian here again. I’m back with the commentary for the last contest I ran, the monocolored Ravnican legends
Tumblr media
Garulsz, Jaded Barkeep by @wolkemesser
Interesting. So you want creatures to be damaged in combat, but survive, which rewards big creatures. And then you have a nice way to make your creatures bigger that ties into the food ability. My worry is just how much this’ll discourage your opponents from attacking. It makes the math really complicated (since you can turn food into +1/+1 counters), and it’ll be frustrating to get it wrong. I think the food-making ability should only work on your turn.
Tumblr media
Aurelia and Lavinia by @piccadilly-blue
This is an interesting prison card. I like that it encourages you to attack, so it’s less of a grindy game, though you really only need one or two hits to be a nuisance. I kinda wish it encouraged it more, not using counters. Something like “Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, until your next turn, creatures can’t attack you, planeswalkers you control, or battles you protect unless their controller pays 2/W for each of those creatures.
Tumblr media
Zorym, Gateless Courier by @bergdg
Pretty generic, but cool. The mana is definitely a good gate for the consecrated sphinx effect, stops it from getting out of control. I like hexproof from multicolored too, it tells a surprising amount of story, especially combined with the name. It implies some kind of rebellion type thing going on, and I think that kind of flavor is a good addition for a pretty generic value piece like this.
Tumblr media
Zomaj Hauc, the Firemind by @misterstingyjack
The spellslinger effect seems a bit disconnected from the threaten tribal, but i guess a lot of those kinds of cards are instants and sorceries so i can see what you’re going for. And i really like the pieces. As a wording thing though, this should be “When this ability resolves for the second time”; there’s weird targeting issues with this as written.
Tumblr media
Tomik, Chairman of Balance by @railway-covidae
This is a good kind of land destruction. It takes enough work to drag the game into a stalemate as a 6 mana card that you probably aren’t doing that work unless you’re about to win. And it’s good at taking on ramp decks. I do worry that 6 mana is too much for a hate card to do its job well, but i also worry it gets a bit too armageddony much lower? Not sure.
Tumblr media
The Forgotten God by @dimestoretajic
I know you made this as a reference to Priest of the Forgotten Gods and I think making a card for that is a cool place to take this contest. The name throws me off though. The priest refers to gods plural, but having a single god be “the forgotten god” implies they’re the only one which is odd. Giving it the same immortality ability as Ilharg is a good flavorful tie. And onto the mechanics, I do quite like it, though it feels a *little* odd that it only triggers off a nontoken creature’s sacrifice but it cares about all sacrifice including tokens. It’s probbbbably fine though
Tumblr media
Ranov, Undercity Scion by @snugz
“This ability triggers only once each turn doesn’t work with an ability like this that has it change zones; it can’t keep track of how many times it triggered before. (And technically it doesn’t trigger at all cause it’s a replacement effect.) More importantly though, I just don’t think this card is exciting. A toned down, safety-netted reference to what used to be a keyword just isn’t enticing in the way a legendary card should be.
Tumblr media
Ilharg, the Scarring Flame by @halfsilveredmirror
This is a very mechanically different take on the character from the first iteration, but probably a more fitting one tbh. I really like the mini-decimate effect, this is cool. Pretty brutal though, especially with trample and haste; not hitting creatures is a good call (even if it was just for color pie reasons), it still gives them a chance.
Tumblr media
Rev, Guide to the Guildless by @0woah
This fits the spirit of the contest (heh), but technically not the letter. This is a cool way to enable to enable gates matter stuff, though land tokens always have some issues- namely, they’re very easy to mix in with regular lands.
Tumblr media
Thessgra, Azorius Legislator by @batatafilosofal
This seems neat. Clearly wants to be in a mill deck, so you want to make sure the payoff works well with that, and I’d say this does. It’s a very defensive card, which makes it easier for you to sit back and mill. I do think this wants a way to enable itself even if not very well.
Tumblr media
Suniel, the Woodwise by @nine-effing-hells
Solid design here. Lots of populates are good, but this takes enough investment to do that that it’s not problematic. Is there a reason you chose to forgo reminder text? There’s more than enough room.
Tumblr media
Rhakh, Raze-Board Dedicant by @curiooftheheart
“Enters the battlefield attacking” is a neat little flavorful addition to the trigger conditions. The intention clearly seems to be this dying during combat, which I quite like, but I wish the toughness was a little lower tbh. Like 5/3
Tumblr media
Fblthp, Adored by @bread-into-toast
Very clearly a MOM or aftermath design, and I quite like it. I’m a little surprised we didn’t see any “Whenever this creature convokes” designs frankly. This card is really limited in its commander purposes by its color identity but not every card needs to be a great commander, and it’s a cool and fitting design all the same.
Tumblr media
Storch, the Dead Drop by @spooky-bard
Art description: Deep in the Undercity, a skull and a bony arm are visible breaking the surface of a veritable mountain of rot to be harvested by the Golgari. Beams of light pour forth from its eye sockets, scanning and surveying the area. The glowing Dimir sigil branded onto the skeleton’s forehead makes its allegiance clear.
Surveil synergy plus reanimation is a fun combo of effects. This is minor, but I think this is a bit too color intensive for a ravnica set (and it feels more like a ravnica main set card than a supplemental set card) because it synergizes with a guild mechanic. You want to be able to throw this in with a bunch of surveil cards from the set and many of those are gonna be blue. Like I said though, minor point, and very cool card. The repeatable reanimation is likely a bit problematic though; that’s a pretty cheap reanimate as an activated ability all things considered, and it could get a bit repetitive.
Tumblr media
Massacre Girl, Fugitive Headliner by @deg99
Neat design! This is just a solid, black-feeling beatstick. Annoying to block, annoying to kill. I just wish it did a little bit more massacring ya know? Killing generally one creature a turn at most just doesn’t feel like it lives up to the title.
Tumblr media
Araithia “Rat” Shokta by @izzet-always-r-versus-u
Fun way to capture her “people don’t think about me deal”. Protection from everything, with a clear window for interacting. Mostly, this is just an invisible stalker that’s hard to suit up which is where Invisible stalker becomes most problematic, so it’s probably fine.
Tumblr media
Bori Andon, Izzet Blastseeker by @i-am-the-one-who-wololoes
Art direction: Bori is on the left, with part of the back towards the camera, only the face is fully visible to the viewer. He stands a couple dozens meters away from the Harmony Basilica. Flying towards it (clearly launched by someone) there's a viashino; it's going to hit one of the glass windows. A lot of Ravnican are watching. Some Azorius and Boros members are running towards Bori to stop him.
Having a board wipe on board definitely shouldn’t be instantspeed with no mana needed to activate. That’s a good way to hold your opponents hostage. I also worry about this kind of repeatable board wipe where all you need to do is put a few +1/+1 counters on this or something (which if it’s your commander you’ll definitely build your deck to do) and you can, again, hold your opponents hostage.
Tumblr media
Bachasarius, Stage Presences by @little-red-rabbit
Well you forgot legendary lol, but the intention was clearly there. This seems fine, good uncommon legendary design. Simple, points you in a pretty clear direction. Solid, not a ton to say here.
Tumblr media
Acorn, Trostani’s Disciple by @squeezyboi
Well firstly, this has the same targeting issues I talked about in another card. (Like, the exact same, with only targeting on certain resolutions of the ability, it’s funny how y’all both did similar things in that regard.) But I like the general shape of the design, with “Play a bunch of creatures and you get a different effect each time”. And the vhitu ghazi token is cool. I just wish it was less cramped to read.

Emmet and Elesa in Hisui Part 2
(note: quick add on this post contains some spoilers for the post game of legends arceus)
Part: 1, 2, 3
Back on this heavily summarized concept thingy that isn’t even a fanfic because atm I aint got time to do no fanficing. Just exploding concepts and ideas out onto the internet with now regard for whether anyone else wants to read my stuff or not. Tbh this part is probably gonna be the vaguest part I try to throw together as it’d be what might be called the meat of the concept? Like all I have is an insanely rushed outline of drama and angst that could definitely use some more elaborating on. Especially since Legends Arceus has so many characters who could contribute positively tot his idea.
Anyway last post I covered how someone, probably the player character or their hisuian rival/potential great to the fifth power (or something) grandparent got Ingo to take a group photo with a bunch of the other characters. The photo somehow got messed up in some way thanks to ancient photography tech but still got kept for sentimental reasons and put in the bottom of a trunk where it was later found and shown to Elesa, who showed it to Emmet, who proceeded to react with careful consideration, grace, and emotional stability.
Nah I’m just kidding. He geared up to go time traveling with the first pack of weirdos who offered. No background check or anything. Just time hoppin. Leading Elesa to go with him.
Cut to modern day 300 years in the past!
It's after the whole shindig with the giant space-time rift over Mt. Coronet. Now that Hisui has, more or less, been saved, the player character is left to solve the remaining mysteries surrounding the time-space distortions, fill out the pokedex, and finally get to Arceus, so they can find their way home.
((Logically I know that for the sake of post-game shenanigans they stay in the past even after catching Arceus, but I like to think that, narratively, the TRUE ending is that after catching aspects of Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia and all the stuff in Hisui has been wrapped up the player characters bids everyone adieu and goes home.
But no yeah that hasn’t happened yet. Don't think the fight with [SPOILERS] Volo has happened yet either. But yknow not really import at the moment))
Anyway, not quite sure how the whole thing actually starts. Perhaps the Galaxy team has gotten reports of “strangers” being spotted around the wilds of Hisui. They don’t seem to be from either the diamond or pearl clans, and they definitely aren’t from Jubilife village. So everyone's a bit concerned. Wondering who they are and where they came from. The witnesses who saw them from a distance described them as looking strange and having odd clothes. Anyway, maybe the player character is sent out to “investigate” where they end up finding leftover campfires and strange tire tracks.
After a bit though, things get real when one of the Nobles disappears. Not wandering around the countryside, not visiting the villages or with their wardens or anything, but just straight up disappears. They don’t even come back for their favorite food.
((Not sure WHICH noble is the first, would have to brainstorm more on that))
But the disappearance puts both clans on edge. They’re still kinda in shaky peace even after the events of the game, and having one of the clan's nobles straight up disappearing just makes everyone nervous.
Now, what ideas I DO have for this part are all disjointed and out of order. But the gist of it is that as time goes on and tensions rise more nobles “disappear” and there are sightings of “a girl with strange clothes and horns” and, more importantly, someone who matches Ingos description.
It all comes to a head when one of the wardens actually catches one of the perpetrators in the act and battles them. I’m thinking Arezu could be fun for this, but it's optional. When questioned by the clan leaders and Commander Kamado though, Arezu is strangely hesitant to talk. Calaba or someone ends up encouraging her to speak up, and she admits that the person she battled seemed to be Ingo.
Everyone is obviously shocked. Maybe someone even accuses her of making it up, but she's insistent. It was Ingo, but… a very different Ingo. In different clothes, and with an off-putting smile who acted like he didn’t know her. Naturally of course, if Ingo isn’t present for all this he gets dragged in to explain himself. This is when he brings up his memories of someone who “looks like me” and the player character might even back him up that this is something Ingo previously mentioned to them.
However, it's not nearly enough. After all, this is the first everyone else is hearing of this supposed look-a-like and as a result, Ingo ends up being put under house arrest or in prison or something. Irida isn’t happy about it, and neither is anyone else, but Kamado is quick to point out that keeping Ingo in Jubilife village under tight supervision is the best thing to do for the moment.
Having the pearl clan keep him might upset some members of the diamond clan, letting the diamond clan have custody of him would upset the members of the pearl clan who might insist Arezu made the whole thing up and is the one who is truly guilty. By leaving him in Jubilife under lock and key, they can, at least, make sure no one tries to take things into their own hands.
The group is still not sure about actually going through with this, but Ingo more or less settles it by agreeing to get locked up. He pleads his innocence, but admits that he has no real evidence of his innocence. He asks the player character to help investigate this and clear his name before being gently led away.
Kamado admits he may still be just being paranoid but also acknowledges that even if he could fully believe in Ingo’s innocence, this would still be the best he could do for him as they tried to protect the remaining nobles. He orders the player and their rival to investigate and prove either Ingo’s guilt or innocence. Hell, maybe they even have a time window? LIke Irida and Adaman can only keep the lid on things for so long.
So, yeah, stakes just got raised.
By now, yall have likely figured out what's going on. Elesa and Emmet have gone back in time with these shady people and the deal is once Emmet, with Elesa’s help, have captured all these very powerful hisuian pokemon for “research” purposes only then will they help Emmet locate his missing brother. It’s Emmet and Elesa who are capturing the nobles, completely unaware of their true significance to the diamond and pearl clans and even unaware that that's where Ingo is or even that he’s a warden. They mostly treat it like... normal trainer stuff? Like, Elesa's suspicious but it's more to the extent of "okay, but there are literally regular version of these variants running around everyone why do they need these super powerful ones in particular???" rather than anything else.
I suppose a good way to plot all this is the same style as the games. Yknow start in the Obsidian fieldlands, go to the crimson mirelands and so on. Maybe with the player spotting Elesa and running into her in the first two areas, and meeting Emmet in the third. Thing is they dont stick around for long, might battle the player for an opportunity to escape, because they were told to not speak to anyone in the past lest they mess up the timeline. (Time travel is so convenient for manipulation innit?)
Speaking of which, the player ends up running into Emmet fighting and maybe even capturing a noble AFTER Ingo’s been locked up with maybe some other ‘witnesses’ with them as well. This ends up proving Ingo’s innocence in regard to the disappearing nobles but opens up a slew of other questions about WHO this other “Ingo” is, and Ingo isn’t content to sit on his hands. He insists he goes out with the player to the coronet highlands to finally find things out for himself.
Which is, of course, where Ingo and Emmet are finally going to reunite…

Hi! I dont know if you write this, but can i request for angsty-fluff imagine for corpse? Maybe when you’re jealous? Thank u❤️ love ur writings
u ask for jealousy and angst, and i said hell fucking yeah
hope u enjoy!

_________________________
it’s fine
Corpse was ever so charismatic. It was something about him that was impossible to deny. Even when he would get misjudged by people, thinking he may be this intimidating presence purely because of how he dressed and sounded, it would only take a few exchanges of sentences between him and a stranger for them to instantly change their mind and feel drawn to him, instead. You knew this better than anyone, after all, it had been one of the factors in what had made you fall for him so hard and so fast.
The only issue was that, sometimes, he could have the same effect on others and, sometimes, when you caught someone else clearly having some heart eyes for your man, that brought forth the little green monster inside of you. He was magnetic, and as happy as you were that the world was so intrigued by him and he was having all the success he deserved, you couldn’t deny that there was a part of you that wished that magnetic pull only worked on you.
It seemed there were certain days when Corpse managed to turn on this charismatic side of him even more so. Today had happened to be one of those days. It was good, because it was a day the two of you had planned to spend together. But when you went out to lunch and the server definitely let her hand rest on his arm a little too long and said things a little too flirtatious and hardly acknowledged your presence, you started to lose that good feeling.
You didn’t say anything about it, even though you kind of wished he would have figured that him giving the girl a back and forth was encouraging her more and upsetting you further. But you were determined to have a good day with your boyfriend, you didn’t want to start any drama with him.
He asked you if you were okay on the way back to his place, noticing you were being quiet. You told him you were and left it at that, even if you did want to say more.
Finally, in the safety of his home that was like a bubble in which was just for the two of you, you were feeling better. Quality time was your love language and his was physical touch, something you could both give each other with ease when there was no outside interruption. Between the little talks, the exploration of hands over each other, the giggles that turned into wiping tears of laughter from your face and shared kisses, you swore you could spend the rest of your life like this and be happy.
And then the bubble burst.
“Ah, shit, (Y/N).” He began, and the mood between you instantly changed.
“What?”
“They need a tenth player right now and no one else can get online.” He had promised that today was about you. And usually, you would be completely okay with him going and joining in on the streams, often you loved sitting by him and watching him get so invested in the games. Except lately, you’d been feeling at an arms length from him and you hated it. You wanted his undivided attention today.
“And?” You were being short with him, you wanted him to know you weren’t okay with this right now.
“It’ll just be a few games...”
You let out a huff and turned your head to the side, looking away from him. You were being stubborn. You didn’t want to tell him what to do, you wanted him to figure it out on his own, that you didn’t want him to play and wanted him to stay right here in this moment with you.
“You can come sit with me?” He spoke again as you remained silent, seemed as if he wasn’t figuring it out.
“Just go play. It’s fine.” It wasn’t fine.
-
Sitting on your own now, you felt bare without your limbs being all tangled with his beneath the blanket like they were earlier. You had tried to turn on the television to watch something, but everything on just seemed to annoy you.
With a sigh, you pressed your hands to your knees and stood up, walking towards Corpses gaming room. At first, you were going to walk in, giving in to the want that was craving to be by his side, but upon hearing a number of female voices, that jealousy appeared inside you again and you walked away.
It was slightly irrational, you knew these people were his friends, but today had really gotten to you.
At an attempt to distract yourself, you opened up Tik Tok, but all your for you page seemed to be was more girls wanting your boyfriend.
“Fucking hell.” You said out loud, closing the app and opening up Twitter next. But you should’ve known it would’ve been worse on there, Corpse seemed to be trending every day on that app, you told yourself you really should have known better for that one.
However, the next social media app click was deliberate. You knew that Corpse had been reposting stories of people using his song and you decided on treating yourself to some more sweet torture. And sure enough, his story was filled with more girls. Firing that jealousy and insecurity you had been feeling today even more.
“Fuck this.” You announced, standing to your feet and feeling tears of frustration build in your eyes.
Once you had finished gathering your belongings, you were just about to make an exit when that crazy thing of timing pulled a fast one on you as Corpse emerged from his gaming room.
“What are you doing?” He questioned you, spotting your hand gripping the handle on his front door.
Seeing him should’ve made you feel better, but it only caused more tears to well up, so you quickly looked away from him.
“I’m going home.”
“What-no, why?” He came closer to you then and you turned more towards the door.
“Because you obviously don’t want me here.”
“What the fuck? (Y/N), of course I do. What are you even saying right now?” He was by your side now, grabbing your hand from the handle and holding it in his. His other went up to cup your cheek, tilting your head up to face him and that’s when he saw the glaze of tears in your eyes. “Hey, baby,” Worry sparked up in him. “You’re upset...” He stated the obvious and you shook your head out of his grip, directing your vision to the ground.
You thought he might create some distance between you both when you did that, but instead, he did the opposite. He pulled you into a tight hug, one arm wrapping snugly around your waist and his other hand resting on the back of your head to encourage you against him.
“Don’t, I’m going.” You spoke, but your words were meek, you didn’t actually want to leave and he knew that.
“No. You’re not.” He argued back, his arms pulling you in even closer. “I want you here.” He told you and that’s what made you snap.
“No you don’t!” Your voice got louder, matching the movements of you bracing your arms against him and pushing him back, breaking the human contact. He was in shock, watching you with cautious eyes. “If you did, you would’ve spent time with me and only me today. You wouldn’t have left me alone!” You became more emotional as you spoke, a few tears managing to spill onto your cheeks.
“Baby-”
“No!” You cut him off. “Don’t ‘baby’ me right now.” You took a moment to wipe under your eyes before continuing because you knew this next admission would cause you some more tears. “You know how hard it is to compete it with every other girl who’s all about you right now? They’re everywhere, and they’re all so fucking beautiful. I know you see them, I’m not them, Corpse.” Your voice broke into a sob as his name left your lips and he felt his heart break to see you in that state.
He wasn’t sure if you still needed space, but he couldn’t stand in front of you while you cried and not do anything. So instead, he once again brought his arms around you, but this time he scooped you up, encouraging your legs to hook over his hips so he could carry you.
You continued to cry against his neck as he walked the both of you to his room and when he placed you down onto his bed, he was instantly beside you, cradling you against him.
“I need you to listen me,” He began once you had started to calm down, he wanted to make sure you paid attention. “You are so important to me. So fucking important to me, (Y/N).” His eyes were boring into yours and he brought his hand up to wipe the wetness from your cheeks before continuing. “I don’t want you to be anyone else.” He was speaking with force, but it wasn’t aggressive, he was wanting to make sure that you really understood the depth to his words.
“It’s just, everyone seems to want you and I’m just-”
“Don’t you dare put yourself down.” Corpse cut you off before you could finish. For a moment, he pressed his lips to your forehead before moving his face back so he could look at you again. “I only want you. You’re it for me, baby.”
“Do you really mean that?”
“With my whole fucking heart.”
“I love you, I really love you.” You told him, your emotions were still running high, but you were feeling a whole lot better.
“I love you, too.”

Second Place ; Miya Osamu.
fandom | haikyuu!!
pairing | miya osamu x fem!reader
w.c | 2.2k
genre | fluff
warning(s) | slightly suggestive, implied sexual content
author's note | i've been wanting to write this for a while! so here it is <3 it's not beta read and I didn't use a lot of metaphorical filling so it's not that poetic but eh Idc bc ✨ self indulgence ✨
──────── ⋆⋅❉⋅⋆ ────────
Once upon a time, Miya Osamu swore that he would never settle for second place again— He was never going to let another Miya score first place while he stood in the shadows. The twins had split paths after graduation, stepping onto stages where they'd never have to compete against each other for the spotlight again.
... Okay, who was he kidding. He'd be compared to Atsumu for his whole life— It wasn't like a different career would change that. Besides, his aunts were way too bored to not spin up something about him and his brother during family gatherings.
"Atsumu's making more money, isn't he?"
Well duh, he was a professional volleyball player, of course he made more money— Osamu wanted to roll his eyes in front of his aunts to make sure they understood that he heard their hushed whispers— But then again, he was an adult now, and he knew better than to stoop that low.
The comforting grip you had on his wrist also helped.
Things did get slightly better for him, though.
"Atsumu, your brother's already married," Osamu overheard his second aunt say to his twin during his wedding reception, "When are you going to settle down?"
The grey-haired Miya couldn't help but have a grin on his face for the entire night. Granted, the fact there was a silver ring on your finger also helped. You were absolutely radiant that night, and Osamu couldn't have been happier to finally be able to introduce you as his spouse.
Osamu's marriage did tilt more pressure towards his twin's way, because not more than half a year later, Atsumu caved in and found a sweet little thing to share his life with. The setter had had a couple flings here and there in his earlier years— But none of them ever lasted that long, and Atsumu had never introduced them to his brother, which is how Osamu knew that his twin really cared about the girl when the golden-haired man visited Onigiri Miya with her hanging on his arms.
If he didn't have the decency to help his brother maintain a good image, Osamu would've straight-up snorted at how tense his twin was when he served onigiri up onto their table, the shop empty with the exception of one table. It was almost like Atsumu was seeking Osamu's approval— Which was hilarious enough without the fact that the setter was nervous about it.
At the end of the night, it was as if the weight of the world was lifted off Atsumu's shoulders. Kaoru— The name of Osamu's potential sister-in-law— Got along wonderfully with you, who kept the shy-but-bright woman entertained as Osamu dragged his twin into the kitchen to make fun of him.
"Oh, go easy on him," You elbowed him lightly as the two of you closed up the shop for the night, wiping down the tables and tucking the chairs in. "Atsumu genuinely cares about her, he's making an effort!"
Osamu let out the snort he had held in for most of the evening. "I wouldn't be his brother if I didn't make fun of him."
"Boys." You muttered, just loud enough for him to hear. You had been around to catch the tail-end of some of Atsumu's previous relationships, so you could tell that Kaoru was different; In a way, Atsumu looked at her the same way Osamu eyed a nice piece of mackerel in the grocery shop.
"I heard that! C'mere," Osamu grinned, tackling you from the back. A smile burst across his lips when a giggle erupted from your lips, a cloth rag smacking him in the face when you tried to wriggle away from his hold. "You aren't getting away, pumpkin. Save your energy for later."
He wriggled his eyebrows suggestively, yelping when he was smacked with the rag again.
"There won't be a later if you keep that up." You warned, laughing when horror instantly swept over his expression. His protests echoed in your ears as you thought about how this marriage was something you'd never regret. Yes, it was rough because his business took off on a rocky road, but you knew there was no gain without pain, so you hung on and saw him through to the fruits of his labour.
──────── ⋆⋅❉⋅⋆ ────────
The next family meeting was graced with the presence of Kaoru, who, in turn, had been graced with your advice.
"Dress decently, do not wear black," You had warned her the night before on the phone, grimacing at the memory of your first Miya family dinner. No one had aunts more judgemental than the Miya twins. "I would suggest going with a dress. Oh, and it might help to bring a gift. A bottle of Ginseng Wine might be a good idea."
"We're here," Osamu parked the car outside the family home, subconsciously wincing at the sight of his aunts' vehicles. "... Ah. They’re here."
"I see they turned up early," You grimaced, "Atsumu and Kaoru-chan are going to have a brilliant night."
"Yup." Your husband grinned slightly at that, earning a smack for smiling at his brother's suffering. "Oh, he'll be fine. We'll mention that when Atsumu really needs saving." The wink he sent your way made your stomach butterflies flutter, but the warm touch of his fingers on your hand made them settle. "We'll be fine," Osamu's eyes softened as he met yours, reassuring you. "You've got me, remember? Worst case scenario, we'll just high-tail out of there and say we need to work tomorrow."
"Right," You released a breath of relief, interlocking your fingers with his. "Ready?"
"To see Atsumu suffer?" Osamu quipped. "Hell yeah."
And suffer did Atsumu. Kaoru wasn’t spared (of course she wasn’t—) and was judged from head-to-toe by the Miya's critical aunts. From the way they were eyeing her, you'd think they were the judges of Miss Universe instead of potential aunt-in-laws. Despite that, Kaoru braved the storm and stood strong through the whole night, her resilience shining with her determination to be with the other Miya twin— Osamu nodded his approval at that.
After dinner, the family gathered in the living room, with the elderly seated on the cushioned couches while the twins were squashed together on a bean bag (that you had to convince them to share, because apparently they were adamant about pushing the other off of it). Kaoru and you managed to snag a small corner of a couch, stifling your laughter at the sour faces of your respective significant others.
"So, Kaoru-san," Four heads collectively flinched when the aunt opened her mouth, "What's your job? Yearly salary?"
"Um, I'm... I'm a newspaper editor," Kaoru fidgeted with the strap of her bag while you resisted the urge to snap at her to look as confident as she could if she didn't want the interrogation to go on for the rest of the night. A shy, nervous thing like her would only make the predator's lick their lips at the sight of easy prey.
"Oh! That makes sense," The woman sneered, Osamu's mother not-so-discreetly turning up the volume of the television in hopes that the conversation would be drowned out. "You definitely dress with the salary of an editor."
Offence flashed across Atsumu's face like lightning, but before he could start a fight to defend his girlfriend's honour, Osamu dragged his brother back onto the bean bag and stood up.
"Excuse me, everyone," Osamu put on his practiced customer-service smile flawlessly, capturing everyone's attention instantly. "Y/N and I have an announcement to make." His eyes met yours, and you nodded, a smile waltzing across your lips.
"Mother, father," You begin, addressing your in-laws like you addressed your own parents. Encouragement swirled in your blood as Osamu interlocked your hands and squeezed your fingers. "You're going to be grandparents."
It took a while for the news to kick in.
"Oh, that's wonderful!" Osamu's mother cried out, rushing to envelop you in a hug that you gracefully accepted. "Do you know the gender yet?"
"Of course not, mother." Osamu rolled his eyes good-naturedly. "We're not that far along yet."
"That's amazing! Congratulations!" Kaoru beamed brightly, not having picked up on Osamu's timely intervention.
"Thank you." You replied warmly.
"Well then, are you going to stop working?" The first aunt shot at you, smirking, coy as ever. She knew that you weren't the type to drop your job just because of an incoming child.
"Of course not." You replied easily, "What kind of spouse would I be if I couldn't help carry the financial burdens with my husband?"
She shut her trap instantly, huffing in fury. Osamu had never looked prouder.
The family rejoiced for a little longer, and from the tip of your ears, you heard Osamu gloating slightly about having reached another milestone earlier than his brother.
"I love you," Your husband murmured into the crook of your neck as the two of you cuddled in the warmth of your bed, too far for his aunts' sharp words to hurt you. "And our little boy in there.”
“How do you know it’s a boy?”
“... Father’s instinct.”
Months flew by in a blur, and so did doctor appointments, Sunday shopping trips with Kaoru as you left Atsumu to help Osamu in the restaurant. The pair would drive the half-an-hour trip from Osaka to Hyogo every weekend. This arrangement elicited a couple silly arguments between the twins, of course, but once you taught Kaoru the stern look that would make the two settle like guilty puppies with their tails between their legs— Those arguments became simple matters to handle.
“Have you thought of names yet?” Kaoru asked you while the two of you sipped on coffee.
“I have a couple in mind,” You smiled. “Osamu won’t stop going on about how he was right. The baby’s a boy.”
“Boys will be boys,” Kaoru rolled her eyes. Then, her expression changed to a wistful one. “This might sound odd, but… I just find myself thinking, sometimes… One day, I want what you and Osamu have.”
“... A happy marriage?” You raised an eyebrow, “Honey, you’re already on your way to one. Atsumu looks at you the same way ‘Samu looks at a bowl of gyudon. Or the way I look at a bucket of mint ice cream with peanut butter…”
Kaoru made a concerned look. “The baby sure craves some odd things.”
“You’ll experience this one day.” You returned pointedly. “Logically, I never would’ve thought of eating mint chocolate ice cream with peanut butter slathered on… But cravings are cravings. And it was surprisingly nice.”

After nine long months of waiting, Miya Tomohito was welcomed to the world. Osamu cried (Atsumu made fun of him for it before getting smacked by Kaoru— She was learning a lot from you). Both yours and Osamu’s parents wouldn’t stop gawking at your baby boy, with his little tuff of dark hair, his tightly-fisted hands and the slight cherry-red flush of his cheeks. You never thought you’d fall in love at first sight— But your son was living proof that you were wrong. From the first moment you held him in your arms, you had already given a piece of your heart for him to hold in his tiny little hands.
It quickly became a regular sight for frequent customers of Onigiri Miya to see Osamu walking around the shop, a sleeping baby boy strapped to his back. The two were inseparable. Once, you walked in on your husband having a full conversation with Tomohito, who was sucking on a spoon.
“I’m thinking of adding a twist to my tuna onigiri recipe,” Osamu said, as if he were talking to an adult and not a three-month old baby. “Do you think adding a squeeze of lemon juice will make it taste better?”
“Gwa.” Tomohito replied intelligently.
“Great suggestion, Tomo.”
“Mmm.”
“I see. We could go to the grocery store later to get some tuna and try that recipe tonight.”
“Ba.”
“You’re a genius, Tomo.”
──────── ⋆⋅❉⋅⋆ ────────
“I can’t believe you.” Osamu looked helpless. “You’re not… You’re not seriously doing this to me.”
“I’m completely serious.” You said firmly, having put your foot down with no room for argument.
“You’re really choosing him over me?” Your husband’s jaw dropped when you nodded solemnly. “I’m your husband!”
“And he’s my son.” You shot back instantly.
“You’re kicking me out of our bed for our son?”
“He’s sick!” You refuted. “I need him to be as close as possible to me. His fever hasn’t gone down completely yet and I can’t let him go back into his cot tonight. Besides, you might get sick if we all sleep in the same bed. Who’ll take care of the shop then?”
Osamu drooped visibly. He couldn’t believe what was happening— He had lost to a Miya once again— Now his son instead of his brother. “Fine.” He mumbled sadly. “Make your poor husband sleep on the couch.”
“It’s only for one night, ‘Samu.”

Tomohito's name is written as 智仁. '智' means intelligence and '仁' means compassionate. I have a friend named Tomohito.
Also, when I was writing this I reminded myself to make sure I made the reader gender-neutral. That is, until I realised that I made the reader pregnant. I am an idiot.

“This week’s movie is…” you paused for the dramatic effect and met each one of your club members’ eyes before pulling out the DVD case from your bag. “Sweet Blossoms!”
Everyone groaned.
“Hey!” you laughed, putting the movie down on the desk. A gorgeous smile tugged at your lips. “It’s my turn so I get to choose!”
“You always choose the worst ones,” your classmate mumbled. “I’m sick of watching romantic comedies. Besides, this is one of the last times we’ll watch a movie in our club.”
Yeah, the graduation was close.
You pouted, giving one person, in particular, the puppy eyes. “Junpei,” you said. “Tell them something, you’re the president.”
Junpei chuckled nervously when you put him on the spot like that. “Haha, I… We made a promise to let one of us choose a movie each week, we should keep our promise.”
“I’m not watching that,” the other club member said. “We’re here to watch movies we appreciate, not whatever dumpster trash you like.”
Although the other two members were being mean, they were right.
“Guys,” Junpei was unsure to say something. He could see how your smile vanished, your shoulders slackened as you flipped the DVD to its back so you wouldn’t need to see the cover title. “It’s her turn to choose.”
“Nevermind,” you uttered, putting the DVD back in your bag. They’re right. I was being selfish. You can skip my turn.”
“But-”
“Great! I rented Pulp Fiction yesterday and brought it with me.” Your classmate dove his hand inside his bag to fish out the DVD.
Junpei noticed the way your lower lip trembled and you pressing your lips together to hide it. When your gaze met him, you forced a smile on your face, mouthing that it was alright.
You were just like him.
He got up from his seat to sit next to you as your classmate put the movie in the DVD player. It was nothing unusual, most of you sat together to make small comments during a movie.
You pushed your stuff on the desk to the side so he could have some space to put his bag.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, the movie had already started.
“There’s no reason for you to apologize,” you softly stated, leaning closer to keep your voice down and not disturb the movie. “It was my fault.”
“Still, we gather here to watch movies our members enjoyed. We’re not actual film critics or anything.” He was trying not to lower his gaze to your chest. One of the buttons had come undone on your shirt, he could see your bra. “Next week is my turn, I can rent the movie you wanted to watch so we can watch it. They won’t complain then.”
Your eyes widened and he could swear that he saw them sparkle. A second later, you dropped your gaze to your lap to fidget with your fingers. “Nevermind, it’ll cause trouble. It’s passive-aggressive and I don’t wanna cause trouble for anyone. Nobody wanna watch the movie I chose anyway.”
“I do,” he whispered, cheeks flushing. While you weren’t looking he had gotten a chance to peek inside your shirt.
Lifting your head, you looked up at him with the prettiest and the most genuine smile he had ever seen. “Really?”
He nodded in affirmation, “We can watch it together after school if y-you wanna.”
“Shh!” The oldest club member turned and pointed two fingers at you and then to his eyes. “No flirting in the losers club.”
Both of you got quiet and it took you a long moment before leaning closer to tell Junpei something.
“So, where will we watch the movie?”
That was how he ended up bringing you to his place. You awkwardly sat on his bed and he tried to stop his shaking hands.
“I wish I had a television in my room too,” you said, starting a conversation to ease the mood. “You’re so lucky, Jun!”
Calling him nicknames like that… you were trying to make him delirious. “I-it’s nothing, it’s some old thing I got from second hand.”
“Still!”
He heard a rustling sound. Once he was done with putting the movie in the DVD player, he whipped his head around to check what you were doing.
His breathing almost stopped when he saw you laying on his bed and checking your phone. You were moving your legs up on the air as you scrolled down some social media platform. Your skirt wasn’t long enough to cover the supple flesh of your thighs, they were squished together and because you were laying on your chest, the skirt’s fabric was relaxed on your ass, leaving not much to the imagination.
Junpei gulped audibly and averted his gaze. “The movie.” That was all he managed to say.
You hummed and sat up on his bed as he took a place next to you. He couldn’t understand why you were so careless, didn’t you think of him as a man?
No, you were purely naive. Not at all aware of the real dangers of the world. Not at all aware of what kind of thoughts about you went through his mind every single day.
The movie opened with the female lead who from her first appearance stated that she was the manic pixie dream girl getting some flowers from a secret admirer despite having a boyfriend.
It was simply trash. That was the only way he could describe the storyline or the mood of the movie.  On his own, under any condition, Junpei wouldn’t pick this garbage up and sit through it but since you wanted to watch it… he had to endure it.
You, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy the movie. Hands on your lap, gasping every now and then when the male lead encouraged the female lead to dump her boyfriend with his shitty compliments.
He found it kind of amusing to watch you react to the movie rather than watch it himself. Soon enough his gaze dropped to your lap. Under the skirt were your bare legs and you were sitting on his bed. Your ass was placed on his bed. The thought of your panties touching the sheets of his bed made his thoughts go south. If you got wet right now, you could soak his sheets.
Slowly, you shifted on his bed, getting in a more comfortable position to watch the movie. Unbeknownst to you, he had a better view of your cleavage now, it was only natural that he couldn’t look away. As vulnerable you were, he was still a man and like any other man, Junpei couldn’t stop himself from fantasizing.
What color panties were you wearing? If he lifted your skirt up to check, would you be surprised? You wouldn’t push him away, that was for sure. You came here all on your own after all, laying on his bed like that and looking like this… There was no doubt you were basically inviting him to fuck you.
The credits rolled sooner than he would have wanted.
You stretched your arms over your head and let out a soft groan. “Thank you, Jun.”
“For what?” He got up from his bed to take the DVD out from the player.
“For watching this with me. I’m so lucky to have a friend like you!” A friend, huh? He thought of you more than a friend but you were probably playing hard to get. The two of you were the same, you just had to be embarrassed to admit your feelings for him. Yeah, that had to be it.
“I liked the movie.” Liar. He didn’t watch it.
Silence.
“I should get going,” you sighed, retrieving your bag and jacket from the floor.
By the time you stood up, Junpei was holding the DVD case towards you. “I hope you had fun.”
“I did.” You smiled, taking it from him. “Thank you again.”
Junpei was languidly nodding, lost in his own thoughts.
As soon as you left his room and apartment, Junpei hurried back to his room. Getting on his knees, he pressed his face into the exact spot you sat on for two full hours. He took a deep inhale, filling his lungs to their limit.
So this was your scent.
Unbuckling his belt, he kept inhaling the smell of your pussy absorbed on his sheets. He was already impossibly hard, if it weren’t for the way he was slouching when you were beside him, you would definitely notice.
His hand wrapped around his cock and he stroked it from the base to the tip, using your smell and his own fantasies about you as his material for today.
Oh, how he wished he could smell you directly.
~~~
The next day, he couldn’t look you in the eye during the club meeting to talk about the movie everyone watched yesterday.
While you were debating with the two other members about how although the cinematography and the dialogue were great you didn’t enjoy the excessive amount of cursing.
“You just don’t understand cinema,” one of them grumbled.
“Couldn’t agree more, I mean… Do you even watch anything other than your weird romance movies?” The other one grinned.
“Let’s not take it too far,” Junpei mumbled, his words went unheard.
“I didn’t say anything bad about the movie,” you argued. “It was well written but the dialogue was too vulgar for my taste.”
“And since when do you have taste?”
Laughter.
“Yeah, she’s such a scatterbrained normie.”
“Guys.” Junpei stood up on his seat to stop the hassle.
“At least I’m not a pathetic loser.” It slipped. As if you had been wanting to say it out loud for so long. “You know that this is why nobody likes any of you, right?”
It became silent.
Junpei sat back on his chair and the other two who had been grinning from ear to ear as they were teasing you frowned.
You clapped a hand over your mouth, realizing what you had said but the deed was done.
“Sorry.” Mumbling, you gathered your stuff and left the clubroom.
~~~
Getting bullied wasn’t the worst part. It was the way other people treated him because he was getting bullied.
People looked at him with pity, sometimes talked to him because they wanted to include him. They were all doing these things to feel better about themselves. It was never about him.
He could let the cigarette burns, all the times he got beaten and the countless lies others spread about him slip but not the fake kindness.
He hated the fakes.
~~~
It was two days after the incident when you finally decided to approach Junpei before he exited the school garden.
“Hey, Jun.”
A shiver rose up his spine and he stopped walking momentarily. “(name), good to see you.” He turned around to face you but you were looking down onto the pavement. You didn’t want to look him in the face.
“Yeah...” You took a deep breath to calm your senses before speaking. “I just wanted to apologize for the other day. I didn’t mean any of the things I said.”
He said nothing.
“I’m really sorry about it, I was being bitter because of the way they talked to me but I shouldn’t have reacted that way.”
He proceeded to stay quiet, though you had a lot to say to him, it was impossible to find the courage or the words to speak when he was being like this. However, you came prepared for anything.
Reaching inside your bag, you pulled out a DVD case with a movie title Junpei had been looking forward to watching. You had heard him talk about it nonstop for months until it got released recently. He couldn’t get his hands on the DVD itself because of how the movie was always rented out but now, you were holding it.
“Wanna watch it together? My treat.”
How could he possibly say no?
“Okay.”
Your nerves eased when he put on a smile.
Thankfully, the walk to his place was short. In his room, you took off your jacket and grabbed the DVD case to put it on yourself. “I tipped the cashier a couple of extra bucks to get my hands on this,” you giggled and turned on his television with the remote control, the player lit up instantly.
“You didn’t have to.”
“Well, it’s just my way of apologizing, don’t sweat it!” Pressing the button for the disc slot, you opened the case to grab the CD. “Besides, I wanted to watch this for a long time too.”
He could tell you were lying but he wasn’t sure if you were trying to be nice to him out of pity or not. Gradually, he realized he couldn’t put you in a box. You two were alike. Exactly like him, you didn’t know where you fit in but he started to get an idea about where might fit in just fine.
As you were standing with the remote control in your hands and waiting for the movie title to show up on the screen, a set of hands were placed on your hips, making you flinch.
“Jun?”
Junpei couldn’t help but press himself against you, his hands on your hips moved to your stomach, and grabbed the remote control out of your grasp. He threw the device to the side.
“Jun?” you tried calling him again, not realizing he needed a hug this badly. “Are-are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” he replied, you felt him bury his face into your hair and heard him take a sniff. His hands moved in different ways. One slid up to cup your breast over your shirt and the other slid down your stomach.
“Um, if you wanna hug me, I can face you. This position is… weird....” You merely comprehended that he wasn’t hugging you when his hand soothed the fabric of your skirt and went under it to grab you by your pussy.
Your thighs pressed together at the same time a surprised gasp left your lips. His hand was pushing you towards him as he was pressing against you, urging you to feel everything.
“Wait,” you tried to say, but when his hips snapped forward it broke into another gasp. A finger pressed on your slit over the fabric of your panties, he dragged it up while his hand harshly groped your breast.
“W-what are you doing?”
“What do you think?” Junpei nosed some hair out of his way and placed his lips on your nape, grazing his lips on the sensitive skin before moving to kiss your neck. “I thought you were here to spend time with me.” His teeth nibbled on the thin flesh and your legs turned to jelly.
“B-but the movie.”
Hooking a finger under the elastic on the edge of your panties, he pulled them to the side and let his middle finger slip inside.
“We can watch it later.”
“Jun, wait.” You squirmed and tried to move away from his fingers but you were trapped. If you moved backward you were going to press harder against his erection and moving forward meant his finger going deeper inside you. The latter was the worst option, so you moved your hips away from his hand.
What you hadn’t calculated was the way you were rocking back on forth with Junpei as he was grinding his clothed cock against the soft flesh of your ass. When you pressed yourself against him harder, it didn’t leave any more space for you to move away from his fingers.
Thanks to your dumb decision, Junpei had you right where he wanted.
“You’re so cute, always trying to act smarter than you actually are,” he whispered, lips brushing against your neck. “When you left that day after we watched your stupid movie, I jerked off to you.”
His hand on your breast moved between your bodies and placed on the front of his pants. He tugged them down while drawing small circles on your neck with his tongue and two of his fingers thrust inside your slick heat.
“I shoved my nose into the exact spot you sat to inhale your scent.”
The revelation of what he did after you left made you tremble. His hot and wet tongue pressed flat against the side of your neck and his fingers moving in a scissoring motion distracted you from his free hand guiding his cock between your legs.
“From the moment we met, I knew we were made for each other, (name).”
Nevertheless the awkward positioning, he slipped his fingers out of you and moved to grab your leg from the back of your knee. He lifted your leg until his cock had enough space to move and his hips surged forward.
A panicked sound left your lips when his cock moved between your folds rather than going inside like he had planned.
Before you could struggle, he pulled his hips back and thrust forward, angling his hips in the right direction. This time, it was a success.
Both of you moaned in unison.
Junpei buried his face into your neck and groaned loudly to the sensation of your warm cunt. Your gummy walls were sucking him right in. He couldn’t help slamming his hips into your pussy with a little too much force. You shook in his arms, nearly losing your balance “J-Jun,” you breathed, tone faint. “T-the movie.”
“Is that what you really want right now?” he whispered into your ear, thrusting in your cunt agitatedly.
You wanted to say something and shove him away so the two of you could focus on the movie that was playing on the screen instead but his cock stroked a sweet spot inside made you melt in his hold. You moaned instead, giving him the answer he wanted to hear.
He picked up a pace to fuck into you in a smooth motion and roughly pound into your pussy to steal cute little moans out of you. He was too lost in pleasure to be able to think. All he wanted was to feel your pussy clench around his cock.
His kisses on your neck turned into biting and you felt him lift your leg higher, launching both of you forward when you lost your balance. You managed to hold onto the TV stand while Junpei didn’t let the small accident interrupt him.
Letting go of your leg, he placed his hand on your back and pushed until you arched your back.
Now, he could thrust deeper inside you. Almost frantically, he started hammering his cock into your pussy. The impact caused you to place both hands on the furniture in front of you and hold onto it for dear life. Your clenching walls around him felt heavenly, he couldn’t stop moving his hips.
A shaky moan escaped your lips when the tip of his cock kissed your cervix. Your hands gripped the furniture and your toes curled at the sensation. At some point, your attention suddenly averted to Junpei’s wandering hands pulling your back flush against his chest as every thrust of his hips left you shaking and begging for more.
“J-Jun,” you whined.
He knew exactly what it meant. If he couldn’t tell from the neediness in your voice, he could tell it from the way your gummy walls started pulsating around his cock. Instead of picking up his pace and fucking you like an animal in heat like you thought he would do, Junpei tried to thrust deeper, stroking your sensitive spot with his cock until your vision turned white and you started rocking yourself back on Junpei’s cock. Only then his thrusts became harder, almost as if he wanted to claim you as his only.
“Can I do it inside?” Junpei didn’t need an answer but you gave him one anyway.
“Y-yeah.”
His pace suddenly slackened, he was close to his own orgasm. He pushed his cock in your pussy down to the base and you felt the slight twitch of his balls on your ass as thick spurts of seed filled your womb.
He lowly grunted, continuing to move his hips and fucking his seed into you with disgustingly wet sounds. Your legs started to shake under you, his hands on your hips were the only things keeping you standing up but once he let go of you, the support disappeared. You dropped on the floor, his cum oozed out of you and stained the carpet.
None of you said anything. Not when you were catching your breaths or when you were fixing your clothes.
It took you a full minute before you asked something so utterly idiotic. “Should I go home?”
At that exact moment, he understood why people enjoyed bullying others who were weaker than them.
“I thought you came here to watch the movie with me.” He dared to say.
You stared at him blankly, your gaze slowly turned to the movie that had been playing the whole time and a faint smile tugged at your lips as you reached for the remote control on the other side of the carpet to restart the movie.
~~~
In the next club meeting, Junpei brought the movie you had wanted to watch last week.
Although the other two groaned in unison, they sat through the entire movie once Junpei told them they owed you this.
As for you, watching the movie you had already seen a week ago was boring but the anticipation to watch another new release you had rented with Junpei after school was enough to keep you on the edge.

Reviews of All Scrapped Spaceword Betas
Exactly what it says in the title. This is also for my reference, as I might redesign some of these later for funsies.
I’m only including Pokemon that were 100% scrapped (we’re not here to argue what might have become what) and aren’t evos/pre-evos of existing Pokemon. Also, I’m using the English fan-translations for the names because I don’t speak Japanese.
Flambear/Volbear/Dynabear
Tumblr media
Our original fire starter, and yeah, I can see why this was scrapped. For starters (heh), it looks more like a rodent that evolves into a lion than anything resembling a bear. And secondly... it doesn’t really have a clear focus, nor a memorable design. It’s just kind of a rodent-bear thing with flames tacked onto it.
The best Pokes usually have a "catch” to them, and these guys lack that. For example, this got replaced by Cyndaquil, which has the concept of flaming spikes that form out of its back. That’s memorable. This, well, isn’t.
Possible reason for being scrapped: Lack of focus/interesting design
Pokes to fill the void: Teddiursa and Ursaring are probably the closest in terms of being bears. Something about it also reminds me of Growlithe/Arcanine, probably because it’s a fluffy fire thing that evolves into a bigger fluffy fire thing with a mane and black markings.
Cruz/Aqua/Aquaria
Tumblr media
This has the same problem as the Flambear line, just less extreme. It’s okay, being a little plesiosaur that evolves into a bigger plesiosaur, but it also lacks an interesting catch to it. The pearls are maybe something, but they’re not really emphasized, just kind of tacked on. Plus Dragonair kind of has the crystal neck ornaments on lock. And the horn. And the underbelly. And the water theme...
Tumblr media
Whoops.
I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to a plesiosaur water starter in the future, but it would probably have to be completely redesigned.
Possible reason for being scrapped: Lack of focus/interesting design; too similar to Dragonair
Pokes to fill the void: Dragonair, as mentioned above. If you want a plesiosaur, Lapras is always a thing.
Putting the rest under the cut for length.
Sunmola1/Anchorage/Grotess
Tumblr media
This is one of the most chaotic beta evolutions out there, aside from beta Girafarig. I can see the resemblance between Sunmola1 and Anchorage to some extent--counter-shaded blue fish with two fins and a short body--but the anchor part of the evolution comes out of nowhere. Then it sporadically turns into a gulper eel, which has nothing to do with the previous two evolutions at all.
I’ve heard some people suggest that Sunmola1 basically gets dragged into the depths and turns into a deep-sea creature due to its anchor, which is a fantastic idea. However, if that’s what they were going for here it’s not really clear, and I think it could be executed much better.
Individually, Sumola1 is a little plain. Not terrible, but I think they could do something more interesting with the little head thing. Anchorage is memorable, but there’s something very un-Pokemonish about it. I think it’s just the fact that it’s basically cut in half--I keep expecting the backsprite to show its organs or something. Grotess is also a bit too plain.
It’s also worth noting that at some point, this was the evolutionary line, which is more consistent but much less interesting (save for the middle evo’s eyes, which are pretty great).
Tumblr media
Possible reason for being scrapped: Lack of evolutionary consistency; some designs plain or not very fitting for Pokemon
Pokes to fill the void: Alomomola is a sunfish Pokemon. Sharpedo is a shark crossed with an object, and Grotess almost certainly became Huntail and Gorebyss.
Rinring/Bellboyant
Tumblr media
These two... are pretty good. They have a simple catch--black cats with bells--and the designs are nicely executed and memorable.
If I had one complaint, it’s that they maybe seems a tad unfocused in the backend of things. They’re dark types, but have a bunch of “cutesy” moves, and it’s not clear why’d they be dark apart from being black cats. They seem to have a magical girl vibe (Bellboyant looks a bit like Luna from Sailor Moon, which is probably not a coincidence), which also has nothing to do with the bells or the dark theme. I do think that the designs themselves are fine though, and that if you just focused on the sound concept a hair more you’d have a pretty great Pokemon.
Possible reason for being scrapped: Not entirely sure, these definitely would’ve been popular. Might’ve just been a balancing thing, or it lost the dev popularity contest.
Pokes to fill the void: Skitty kind of has the same vibe as Rinring. They also remind me a bit of the Meowth line, being cat Pokemon with metal attached to them. The Purrloin line takes over the “dark-type cat” aspect.
Bomseel
Tumblr media
I’m torn on this one. On the one hand, it’s a very plain looking Pokemon. The idea of it balancing a fireball/bomb on its nose instead of a ball is clever and memorable enough... except that it’s dependent on it being on that pose. It can’t balance that 24/7, and once it stops all you’re left with is a plain sea lion with dark points.
However, it’s fire/water. The only fire/water we have right now is a legendary, so it would be sweet to have one that’s just a regular poke. So it’s not that the concept itself is bad, using a water-based animal and adding a fire type; it’s just more that the execution is lackluster. Give this guy a hook not related to the fireball and make the seal itself more interesting and I think you’d have something here.
Possible reason for being scrapped: Lack of interesting design
Pokes to fill the void: Volcanion is our only fire/water Pokemon for now. In terms of seals/sea lions with a circus theme, Popplio is a decent enough match.
Tigrette/Electiger
Tumblr media
Someone at Gamefreak hates tigerballs, because this line was planned for Gen 1, scrapped, then planned for Gen 2 and scrapped again. Which is strange, because while it’s not the best design it’s not bad either. It’s very very cute, and could definitely find an audience.
However, I’m not really sure what the premise is here. If it’s based on tiger clay bells, then it doesn’t really play into the bell theme much at all. And if it’s not... why is it so round? It’s not that the roundness is bad, but it would usually form the hook for this Pokemon, like it collects static electricity in its fur that makes it puff out or something. Maybe some dex descriptions would’ve made this clearer, who knows.
Also, Electiger is literally the exact same design as Tigrette, just bigger. It would either need a completely new final evolution or would need to show up as a single evo.
While that sounds harsh, I do really like this design. Fix the evo, figure out/build on the hook of it being round or bell like, and maybe refine the markings a touch and it would be pretty perfect.
Possible reason for being scrapped: Not sure. Might’ve been too similar to Pikachu (both being yellow round electric type Pokemon with zig-zag tails, and og fat Pikachu was also very round). The need to rework the evolution also might’ve turned GameFreak off of it.
Pokes to fill the void: Spheal and Rowlet are both pleasantly round. Pikachu is cute and electric themed in a similar way. In terms of tigers, Raikou is also electric-type. The exact way the stripes are done here is also very similar to Litten.
Kurstraw/Pangshi
Tumblr media
GameFreak. GameFreak, you are telling me that we almost had a voodoo-doll Pokemon based off of Ushi-no-Toki-Mairi that evolves into a fucking jiangshi panda?? You are killing me here.
A few interesting things to note here:
Kurstraw evolves at level 1. How? Why? No idea. It could just be a placeholder, but...
The fact that Kurstraw was set to have Curse as its signature move (then called “nail”) and that it only learned this move at level 100 makes it evolving at level 1 seem intentional.
To make things more confusing, it almost seems like (and this is speculation on my part) GameFreak’s intention was to encourage players to not evolve this thing. Stats are comparable, Kurstraw only gets its signature move if you level it up to where it can’t evolve, and Kurstraw has the better moveset (getting frigging destiny bond at lv. 16, while Pangshi gets... splash (which. makes more sense when you consider it’s called “hop” in Japan but it’s still useless). If that was what they were aiming for, then that’s a really unique mechanic that would really make this poke stand out.
Design wise, Kurstraw is... well, it’s a doll with a nail rammed through it. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not very Pokemon-ish. Meanwhile, Pangshi is maybe a little too much like a Jianshi rather than being reminiscent of one, right down to the little hat. The pose, fangs, and panda colors (which resemble Jiangshi mandarin robes) are more than enough to get the hook across.
What I really love about these two are the expressions. They are just like, so dissonantly happy. Kurstraw is literally like
Tumblr media
and Pangshi has the dead-eyed thousand-yard stare of Espurr, except unlike Espurr it looks completely and utter deranged. It looks like if this Pokemon ended up in Mystery Dungeon, it would respond to every question with “my favorite color is blood”. Amazing.
Possible reason for being scrapped: I think these two might’ve been scrapped just because they were too scary. I mean, it’s a voodoo doll impaled on a giant nail that evolves into a literal actual corpse. The implied violence was probably just a bit much for GameFreak.
The reason I think this is, beside the fact that they have fairly solid designs, good hooks, and all of their stats and moves in place, most beta Pokemon have had their premises revisited at some point. But we’ve really never gotten a voodoo doll Pokemon since this, and we definitely haven’t gotten any jiangshi Pokemon either, which suggests the problem lied in the very concept rather than the execution.
Pokes to fill the void: People say that Kurstraw was reworked into Banette, but if anyone Pokemon resembles it to be, it would actually be Mimikyu. They both have cloth bodies with drawn-on smiley faces that resemble something cuter than them and they both want to curse you for existing.
For Pangshi... well, there’s Pancham if you’re looking for tiny pandas. If you’re after a jiangshi though, you’re out of luck.
Wolfman/Warwolf
Tumblr media
This Pokemon has a great hook. I mean, a Pokemon that wears a pelt that transforms it into a werewolf? Hell yeah. Not to mention it might be a reference to an obscure Nordic tale about people donning wolf pelts to turn into wolves for ten days.
Design wise, it... well, Wolfman looks almost exactly like Venonat. I’m not the only one who sees this, right?
Tumblr media
That aside, I think the idea could be played up a little more. Wolfman is fine, save for its Venonat-ishness, but Warwolf doesn’t do much for me, basically just being a larger version with claws and fangs. If the idea is that it turns into a werewolf by wearing the pelt, what if its evolution looked somewhat like a wolf? Or better yet, the actually body of the thing changes to fill the wolf skin more, so it looks like its a part of it? That would really elevate this Pokemon to a new level.
Possible reason for being scrapped: I’d guess that it’s the same problem as Kurstraw and Pangshi--too scary. I mean, that is a dead pelt of some kind, which means that it killed and skinned some kind of Pokemon, and that’s not getting into questions of what Pokemon they got that from.
It’s also worth noting that when we did finally get a werewolf Pokemon via Lycanroc, it was minus the pelt concept.
Pokes to fill the void: Lycanroc as our werewolf Pokemon. In terms of design, Venonat is very similar as noted above. And something about it really reminds me of Snorunt, being little critters with glowing eyes that wear a cloak of some kind and live in the cold (this line was ice-type).

Truth or Dare in Gym 3 - Gym 3 Squad
The (big) gym 3 squad plays truth or dare. That’s literally it. BokuAka. Mentions of Tsukiyama. Implied YakuLev, KuroKen, Kagehina, but they’re not actually together in this fic so
They were absolutely wiped out from their three-on-three, slumped against the wall of the gym as they tried to catch their breath.
“You guys wanna do something fun?” Bokuto asked, still working on catching his breath from the intense game.
“Like?” Tsukishima asked.
“Truth or dare~” Kuroo suggested, pushing some of his sweaty hair out of his face. “We can do it while we cool down.”
“No.” Tsukishima stood up. “I’m good-“
“But Tsukishima! It would be fun!” Hinata whined, grabbing onto the middle blocker’s arm and attempting to pull the much taller boy back onto the floor of the gym.
Tsukki wasn’t budging. “This isn’t working, you know,” he said simply.
“I guess if you don’t play I’ll have to reveal the blackmail Kenna’s been collecting of you,” Kuroo shrugged.
“The what?”
“You can believe me or you can take that chance, up to you.”
Tsukishima sat back down in the circle. “Fine. But we can’t play for long—we have to get to bed soon.”
“Yay!” Lev cheered, lifting his arms up in triumph, as though he had done anything to convince the boy to stay in the first place.
“But you know how there’s always that person that only does truth,” Bokuto complained, glancing slightly at Akaashi, trying to make it discreet (and failing). “I don’t wanna have that happen.”
Akaashi rolled his eyes playfully. “Okay. How about everyone does two rounds - you have to do one truth and one dare. Your choice when you’re asked is mainly if you trust the person asking to give you a dare or not.”
“You’re a genius ‘Kaashi!”
“Oo!” Hinata squirmed in his seat. “I’ll go first!! Bokuto! Truth or dare?”
“Hmm, let’s start out easy with a truth!”
Hinata puffed out some air—he was obviously hoping for a dare—and took a minute to think. “Okay! Who’s your best friend in this group?”
Silence. Bokuto glanced between Kuroo and Akaashi, the two boys to the side of him. Then he looked back at Hinata. “Can you give me another one?” He pouted. “I can’t answer that.”
Tsukki rolled his eyes and grumbled something, but the other boys ignored it, trying to come up with another truth so Bokuto wouldn’t be sad by having to choose a favorite friend.
“Got it! Who on Karasuno do you think is the most intimidating?” Classic Hinata always thinking of volleyball.
“Oh, your captain, for sure!”
Kuroo nodded solemnly in agreement. “Dude freaks me out sometimes.”
“...Daichi does?” Hinata asked, tilting his head in confusion. Daichi was such an encouraging leader, he never even thought of him as intimidating.
“Definitely. When his gaze gets all cold...” Bokuto shivered. “He’s scary, dude.”
Hinata laughed, as did Tsukishima shockingly. “Guess I never thought about it that way,” the ginger said, shrugging.
“Anyways! My turn to ask now. Tsukki! Truth or dare?” Bokuto asked, pointing his finger at the blonde.
“Still Tsukishima, and truth. I don’t trust a dare from you.”
“Booo,” Bokuto pouted. “But okay. If my team were to play Kuroo’s in an actual match, who do you think would win?”
Tsukishima paused, glancing between the two captains, trying to assess what he had seen of their teams the past few days before coming up with his answer. “Fukurodani.”
“Ughhh, why?” Kuroo grumbled.
Tsukishima pointed to Kuroo. “You’d spend the whole match trying to outsmart Bokuto. But he’d catch onto it immediately and shut it down,” he pointed to Akaashi. “Kenma might be able to outsmart Akaashi, but you’re too proud to ask for help.”
“You’re scary Tsukishima.” Lev blurted out. Tsukishima just glanced his way, a blank look on his face.
“Anyways. Kuroo. Truth or dare?”
“I’m gonna trust you to start out the night with the first dare!” Kuroo said excitedly. “Don’t make me regret it.”
He regretted it immediately once he saw the widening grin on Tsukishima’s face. “Go ask one of the coaches for a condom.”
Kuroo buried his face in his hands, embarrassed. “What’s the aftermath for backing out of a dare?”
“Death.” Tsukishima replied seriously.
Kuroo groaned, then got up, walking out of the gym to find the coaches with the other boys in tow, excited to watch this play out.
There they were, drinking in one of the rooms. He knocked quietly, making his way in. “Uhh, could I steal Karasuno’s coach away for just a second?” He asked awkwardly, unable to look any of the coaches in the eye. Coach Ukai smiled and followed him outside the room to the hall, where the other boys were eavesdropping around the corner.
“Uh, sorry to bother you!” Kuroo blurted out.
“It’s fine kid. What’s up?”
“Uhm,” Kuroo pulled on the collar of his shirt. It was getting hot in there, probably from all the nerves. “Do you have a c-condom?”
Absolute silence for a second. Kuroo could feel himself dying on this inside and the boys had to fight to hold back their snickers.
“Sure.” Coach Ukai pulled out his wallet, pulling out a condom and handing it to the captain. “Is that all you need?”
“Uh, yup.” Kuroo gulped. “Thank you.”
“No problem,” the coach waved to the student then walked back in to join his fellow coaches.
The other boys rounded the corner, laughing their asses off.
“That was awful!” Kuroo whined, his face bright red. “I highly recommend nobody accept a dare from Tsukishima ever again.”
“Wah, wah.” Tsukishima rolled his eyes. The boys started walking back towards the gym. “Anyways, you get to ask next.”
“Chibi-Chan, truth or dare?”
Hinata’s back straightened as he finally got picked to go. “Dare!!” He exclaimed. Kuroo stopped in his tracks.
“Okay. While we’re still in the dorm area, I dare you to go in, ask Kenma for his PSP, then just leave with it.” Truth be told, Kenma always played the game long into the night. If Kuroo tried to take it away, there’d be hell to pay. But maybe Kenma would give in for Hinata.
“Alright! That’s not too bad.” Hinata started to skip towards the Nekoma dorm where the students were saying. The light was still on, signaling that all the players were still awake.
Hinata opened the door shyly, sneaking in but leaving the door open a crack so the boys could eavesdrop.
“Hey Kenma!” Hinata exclaimed as he walked over to the boy, his face still buried in the game.
“Oh, hey Shoyo. I thought you were practicing late?” Kenma asked, glancing up from his game to look at him.
“Oh yeah, but I got bored. Hey, I’m trying to figure out what games to get on my PSP. Can I borrow yours and see what all’s on it?”
“Sure thing,” Kenma handed him the gaming console.
“Thanks!” Hinata cheered, making a quick exit out the door with the device. He shut the door behind him and held it up triumphantly, handing it to Kuroo.
“Easy one.”
“Well, it’s never easy for me,” Kuroo chuckled. “He may actually be able to get some sleep tonight, thanks.”
“So it’s my turn?” Hinata asked as the group made their way back to the gym.
“Yup!” Kuroo answered.
“Kuroo. Truth or dare? Remember...”
Tsukishima grinned. “It has to be truth.”
“Okay, okay. I don’t like the feeling I’m getting but... truth it is.”
Hinata stopped, pulling the guys closer to him so he could keep his voice low. “Have you ever asked Kenma on a date?”
“What!?” Kuroo’s face turned bright red. “No! We’ve been friends for forever.”
“Yeah and? Same for the Great King and Iwaizumi but that didn’t stop them,” Hinata said simply, shrugging. A majority of the boys had no clue who he was talking about, but just figured it was one of the many people Hinata had befriended.
“He doesn’t like me like that!”
“You never know Bro!” Bokuto encouraged him, patting his back. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
Silence.
“He doesn’t like him back and things get awkward,” Tsukishima answered truthfully.
“That! Exactly!” Kuroo exclaimed.
“I think you’d be fine. Kenma isn’t the type who’d hold a grudge over something like that if he doesn’t feel the same,” Akaashi explained, shrugging.
The group make it back to the gym, sitting against the wall. “Well, let’s put a pin in that for now. Lev, truth or dare?”
“Dare! Dare!”
Kuroo had an evil grin on his face. “Bad choice.”
“I take it-“
“Nope.” Kuroo got up and glanced out the door of the gym. “Perfect timing. Go out there, pretend to be sad, and ask Yaku for a hug.”
Lev’s mouth dropped open. “Do you want me to die?” He whined. “Yaku San will MURDER me!”
“A dare’s a dare,” Bokuto shrugged, pushing Lev to stand up and stumble towards the door. The boys all followed, standing in the doorway to watch the scene take place.
Lev forced tears to form in his eyes, biting his lip hard to get his eyes to water from pain. There was no way this would work. “Yaku San,” he whimpered, making his way over to his elder. Yaku was walking back to the dorms to call it a night.
Yaku turned to face him. “Lev? I thought you were practicing?”
“I was but...” he frowned. “Yaku San... can I have a hug?”
“What? Why?” Yaku’s eyes scanned the taller boy’s face, trying to find a smirk or anything to prove that Lev was pulling his leg, but nothing was there. He just looked... sad.
Lev flopped down onto his knees. “I’ve been practicing so hard and I just... can’t get it.” He ran a hand through his hair. Was this even acting anymore? What he’s saying felt true. “It’s frustrating. I feel like I’m not getting any better.”
Yaku rolled his eyes, wrapping his arms around the now-shorter-than-him Lev. “Don’t tell anyone about this,” he grumbled. “But you are getting better. I can tell. I promise.”
“You mean it Yaku San?” Lev asked, his eyes shining as he looked up at the boy. “Thank you!”
“Yeah yeah, whatever.” Yaku pulled Lev’s collar, pulling him close. “If you tell anyone, I’ll kill you.”
“You’re the best Yaku San!” Lev exclaimed, running back to the gym to tell the boys about his successful dare.
Lev entered the gym, but was cut off before he could even open his mouth. “We saw. Please don’t talk about it. I never want to talk about it again,” Kuroo looked pale, shocked to see his teammate showing his soft side.
Lev rolled his eyes. “Fine. Bokuto, truth or dare?”
“I love that nobody’s asked Akaashi yet,” Tsukishima pointed out.
Kuroo shook his head. “Akaashi’s dares are probably even worse than yours. We couldn’t give him that power.”
“You’ll have to eventually,” Akaashi shrugged.
“Anywaus! I already did a truth, so dare!” Bokuto said excitedly, pulling the attention back to him.
“Okay, okay.” Lev smiled to himself. “I’ve seen this around online. So I dare you to play the pocky game with Akaashi!”
“The pocky game?” Hinata asked, turning his head in confusion.
“Yeah!” Lev felt around in his pocket, pulling out a pack of pocky. “You put one side of the pocky in you mouth and the other in someone else’s, then you see who eats the most.”
Hinata’s eyebrows raised. He didn’t really get it, but he figured he would once they played it.
“Akaashi?” Bokuto asked, looking over at the setter. “We don’t have to if you’re not comfortable.”
“It’s fine, but it should count as a dare for me too.”
“That’s fair,” Kuroo nodded. “Go on ahead then.”
Lev pulled out a pocky stick, handing it to Bokuto. Bokuto gently held out the stick towards Akaashi, who opened his mouth and let Bokuto put the end between his teeth. Then Bokuto followed suit, cheeks bright red, trying not to get too close to Akaashi quite yet.
But then the game begun, and they had to get closer to one another. Bokuto hates losing, but Akaashi hates it even more. Akaashi didn’t give in, letting his lips press against Bokuto’s as he took the last bite to win. He bit the piece off then pulled away, a bright grin on his face. “That’s a win for me, Bo.”
“Trust me, that was a win for him too,” Tsukishima teased, picking up on the dazed dreamy look in Bokuto’s eyes. “Akaashi, maybe you should go, since he’s in another dimension right now.”
“Okay. I’ll even be nice. Lev, truth or dare?”
“It has to be truth, right?”
Akaashi nodded. “Who at this training camp, not including your team or those of us right here, do you think you’d get along with best?”
Lev paused, taking a minute to think. “Hinata and Tsukishima’s little blonde manager! She seems so sweet.”
Tsukishima shook his head. “She’d be terrified of you.”
“She gets nervous around tall people,” Hinata explained. “But I think you two would get along well once she got over that!”
“Oo! You should introduce us at some point then. I need a new best friend!”
The room fell silent once again.
“...Bokuto? I think you have to go now, since I already told two dares,” Lev said awkwardly.
“Oh yeah! Kaashi counted as a dare too. Well then... I have the perfect question.” Bokuto’s eyes lit up as he turned to his setter. “Akaashi, truth or truth?”
Akaashi rolled his eyes playfully. “Hmm... I’ll have to go with truth.”
“Perfect! Did you want to play the pocky game with me?”
“What?” Akaashi’s ears turned a very light shade of pink.
“You know, did you want to?”
“Yeah. It wasn’t a bad dare at all.”
Bokuto frowned. “You know that’s not what I meant.”
“Okay... yes, Bokuto San, I wanted to play the pocky game with you,” Akaashi admitted, refusing to meet Bokuto’s eyes.
“Akaashi!” Bokuto squealed, pulling him into a hug, swinging him back and forth. “You’re so cute!”
“Okay, okay, but... I need to ask a question now, Bo...”
Bokuto let him out of his tight embrace, but scooted closer so that he could rest his hand on top of Akaashi’s. Akaaahi’s face had still not calmed down from the bright red flush that had risen on his cheeks from Bokuto.
“I’m not taking this alone. Tsukishima. Truth or dare?”
“You’re screwed,” Kuroo whispered under his breath.
Tsukishima frowned. “Dare.”
Akaashi turned to Hinata. “What’s the name of the boy with the freckles on your team?”
“Yamaguchi?”
“Him.” Akaashi turned to Tsukishima. “Ask him on a date,” he dared, a small smirk on his face.
“I-“
“Tsukki!? You like Yams?” Hinata gasped.
“I knew you weren’t the brightest...” Tsukishima muttered. He pulled out his phone. “Can I just call him? He’s probably ready for bed by now.”
“You two know each other’s schedules. How sweet,” Kuroo gushed.
Tsukishima called Yamaguchi, putting it on speaker.
“Tsukki?” Yamaguchi asked. “You still practicing?”
“Yeah, sorry, I’ll be back soon. But I had something to ask you...”
Lev started laughing, and Kuroo clasped a hand over his mouth to conceal the sound.
“Okay? You’re freaking me out.”
“Will you go on a date with me? Once we get back home?”
The line went silent. Then Yamaguchi started laughing. “You called to ask that? Of course I will.”
“Great. I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay! See you then! Love you!”
Tsukishima sighed deeply, glaring at the boys around him who stared at him in disbelief. “...Love you too Yams.”
He hung up, pressing his face into the palm of his hands. “Don’t talk.”
The boys burst out laughing. “Love you too Yams,” Hinata cooed.
“You guys are dating!?” Bokuto exclaimed. “You never told me.”
“We never told anyone. It was pretty obvious though,” he shrugged. “Anyways, Yams is waiting for me. Last one. Hinata, truth or dare?”
“Truth, I guess, but go easy on me.”
Tsukishima scoffed. “Oh, no way. Not now that you know about Yamaguchi and I. So? Do you like the King?”
“The King...?” Kuroo asked.
“Kageyama? Of course I like him! Wait- do you mean like, I like him like he’s a good setter, or I like him like we hang out and watch tv on the weekends, or I like him like sometimes I can’t focus when we play because his hair sticks to his forehead and frames his face so pretty and his skin just glows and he makes eye contact with me before he spikes but his eyes are just so pretty and that’s why I’ve had to close my eyes when I spike-“
“No. Nevermind. You don’t have to answer.” Tsukishima got up, walking to the door. “That was disgusting. Good night everyone.”
“You sure are leaving quickly,” Kuroo teased. “Got a date?”
“Yeah, I’ve gotta go cuddle with Yamaguchi. At least I had the nerves to ask out my childhood friend,” he winked, leaving the room.

How I Would Humble NHL Players
An essay written by bigboigritty.
Tumblr media
I would humble hockey players the only way I know how to, by sending them to Australia. Let’s suppose that they have decided to hold the All Star game over here (forget about it’s usual date) (forget that some players I have listed below might not be invited) (and while you're at it, please forget that Australia’s rinks are Not Good).
I think that they would suffer but in an entertaining way so it’s fine.
First of all, their biggest concern is getting sunburnt. It would effect all of their dumb asses but I’m particularly worried about Pierre-Luc Dubois and Mitch Marner. Boys are practically translucent. Vince Dunn would be fine, he’d probably wear a shirt most of the time which is a very smart decision.
You may wonder why I didn’t mention Nolan Patrick because I am a certified slut for him, well I don't think he would have a problem. He would spend most of the time inside and when he joins the others, I think his Virgo ass would reapply sunscreen. Maybe he would burn slightly but I don't think it'd be enough to make him uncomfortable.
Another thing that I think they will gain from this experience is a higher pain tolerance. Now you’re probably thinking, “Zoe they are NHL players so they can handle pain.” Wrong.
Real pain is running barefoot on cement at theme parks while you race to get to the next ride. Also getting into the car and having to avoid touching every piece of metal to not get branded like a cow. Or better yet, when the heat gets so bad that there’s a black out because everyone has their air conditioning turned on.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that other countries have scary animals but I would pay to see them panic over ours. Crocodiles here can grow up to 5.2 metres / 17 feet. We have a box jellyfish season where it’s advised to avoid swimming or wear wetsuits for coverage. Funnel web spiders can survive underwater for hours by trapping air bubbles around their skin. We have several of the worlds deadliest snakes present across the country.
Listen, I don't want anyone to get injured but the constant fear that they would have when doing anything would be enough to make me happy.
My biggest question is who would survive in the shady areas, who would survive the eshays?
Under no circumstances can you look them in the eyes or cross their path. They are not to be feared individually but in groups caution is advised. I think the players would attempt to assert dominance and that is simply not an option. You are better off to ignore the eshay.
Nolan would have no issues here if im being honest. He is big and I don't think they’d find it worth it to fuck with him. But you know who they would target? Matthew Tkachuk. “Where are you going pretty boy?” “Oi braa did we hurt your feelings ya pussy cunt?” They would make fun of his hair in particular.
Travis Konecny would be an eshay. I don't think I need to make further comment. (So would Louis Tomlinson but I am not a 1D account and I will continue to repeat that until it’s true.)
I would also give them a few iconic tasks to get the true Australian experience. Activities for the ‘vacation’ include triathlon events, beach flags, bush walking and climbing the harbour bridge. They could attend a cricket match but they tend to like golf so unfortunately they would probably enjoy this :(
AFL is an extremely popular sport here and I think they would loose their shit when they learn the rules of this game. No protective equipment is used other than mouthguards, that's it. That’s all you get. And jumping onto other players for leverage is encouraged. I would thoroughly enjoy the fights that would break out because of this.
Another task would be to use a map to make their way to a servo for a slurpee. The catch is that they will be required to pass through multiple alleyways. Also, the season is Spring, it’s swooping season mother fuckers. Let’s see how brave you are when birds chase you down the block. Personally I don’t think any of them would pass this test, maybe McDavid because the birds may not be able to detect a heartbeat.
Australian food would disgust them, I just know it. Things that they would need to try are a Bunnings sausage sanga, fairy bread, lamingtons, baked beans on toast, Milo and Vegemite. Because I’m me I would give them no butter with their Vegemite.
An after thought I had was money so I’m editing this to include it. Everything here is EXPENSIVE so they would need to learn how to budget. Upon doing research, Canadians would be fine but the Americans will be mad.
1000 CAD = 1019 AUD
1000 USD = 1297 AUD
Another after thought was the fact that they won’t be able to drive (or at least drive well) here. We drive on the left and not the right, same goes for walking paths too. I can sense a lot of them bumping into people.
Where I think players would live based on vibes alone:
Carter Hart and Vince Dunn: North Shore Beaches, NSW. Daddy’s money. Carter probably did Nippers whereas Vince was a skater boy.
Travis Konecny: Darwin, NT. Would 100% live there and enjoy it. He would try to conduct crocodile tours but gets assigned to feeding the baby crocs and doing shows for little kids.
Tyson Barrie: Perisher, NSW. One of the only ski resorts we have to offer, major friendly mountain man energy.
Nolan Patrick: Byron Bay, NSW. @antoineroussel enlightened me, steering away from my original thought of Katoomba, NSW. Byron Bay is a magnet for hippies and links rainforest to the ocean. Chris Hemsworth and his family also live there.
William Nylander: Perth, WA. I don’t know much about Perth other than they wouldn’t shut up about partying while the other states had to quarantine. For some reason, I also associate Perth with Tik Tok.
Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid: Melbourne CBD, VIC. These two would live in the same apartment building in the city, Connor one level above Sidney. It’s the most boring looking block of them all and Crosby would send in complaints to the landlord about McDavid pacing during the night.
Tyler Seguin: Surfers Paradise, QLD. Party central, not many people are actually from this area and he would be sure to tell absolutely everyone that he was. I also think he would get a Meter Maid tattoo, specifically on his leg. Has definitely slept on the beach before because he couldn’t find his way home.
Jamie Benn: Hobart, TAS. Tasmania is usually forgotten about. Another one with mountain man energy except he is more creepy than friendly.
Mitch Marner: Fitzroy, VIC. @antoineroussel is responsible for this one too. Hipster central, makes you question how the hell someone so young can have so much money. Would chug $45 wine and not blink an eye.
(honourable mentions include = Sammy Blais: Hobart, Tas. Once again no comment on Tasmania. TJ Oshie: Cairns, QLD. Would do reef tours. Haydn Fleury: Western Sydney, NSW. Haydn would 100% own a ute or a white holden commodore and you can’t tell me otherwise. Roman Josi: Adelaide, SA. Small town history teacher vibes.)
I have attached a handy map for those who may need it.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, the NHL should send their players over here to teach them some manners and while they’re at it, management should bring themselves too. Nolan Patrick could pass as an Australian if he built up a tan. (So does Nylander in this picture but we won’t talk about that.) Come over anytime baby, I’m free.

your analysis about volume 9 wonderland and neo’s role in the volume as a whole is very interesting, especially since all of the characters are there for a reason. rwby of course because they’re the main characters, but jaune and neo were the additions that really made me curious about what’s planned, especially since the show’s past the early v1/v2 point of awkwardly putting jaune in the main character position and neo isn’t a villain that’s really gotten a ton of spotlight (in the show at least) until now.
especially since the writers have said that volume 9 will be very focused and very character-driven. the word “trippy” has been used which definitely makes sense if it’s a wonderland-esque world, and it’s also a volume that’s been planned since way back when volume 1 was in development so whatever happens in it, it’s a critical part of the overall story so it’ll be interesting to see how jaune and neo especially fit into that.
in all honesty im not of the opinion that he was awkwardly shoved into a main character position in v1-2 at all? those first two volumes are rough around the edges and do kind of position rwby as main characters and jnpr as supporting players by dint of jnpr not getting involved with the torchwick/WF stuff… and then jaune in v1-2 is in the part of his character arc where all the obnoxious behaviors and toxic self-images and self-narratives he’s going to overcome need to be established, so it does feel like he specifically gets shoehorned into the story when he doesn’t need to be there. but then the core plot of v3 turns on pyrrha’s arc as a tragic hero in much the same way that v7-8 turned on penny’s arc, and once she’s gone and jnr ream up with ruby it becomes clear that all of them were main characters the whole time. they just. took a bit longer than rwby did to find their inciting incident.
(up ensemble casts)
anyway, jaune’s inclusion felt very natural to me when i watched 8.14 and still feels very natural now that i’ve had plenty of time to digest, because: this kid has since v3 been doing his goddamned best to carry the weight of his whole world on his shoulders, to be there for his friends, to keep pyrrha’s spirit alive (& i think, in a lot of ways, apologize to the universe for being the one who survived that night instead of her). he let go of whatever was left of his egocentric dream of Being The Hero and threw himself instead into selflessly supporting and protecting the people and the ideals he cares about. and by v8 two important things have happened: 1. jaune has come to terms with his grief and survivor’s guilt regarding pyrrha’s death, which allows him to achieve emotional stability and complete his transformation into his new support-oriented role, and 2. all of his friends have come to quietly rely on jaune’s support because he is now this pillar of unflinching and seemingly unshakable stability in a world that is falling apart around their ears.
he’s still got a few hints of vulnerability (“you cheated your way into beacon!”) but… for the most part jaune has by the time they reach atlas very much become the shoulder to lean on, the steady one his friends look to when they need encouragement, the mediator, the one who really truly BELIEVES that they can do this. in a lot of ways jaune becomes the inspirational embodiment of hope and courage in the face of evil that pyrrha was to him in v3 or ruby was in v1-v7 before she started to crack in v8. ren’s comment to yang about jaune’s faith when they’re trying to rescue oscar makes this clear
and well
that role is not a comfortable place to be, and that’s always been something rwby is interested in exploring. trying to fulfill that role is what got pyrrha killed. ruby’s arc in v8 is about how all the stuff she’s been stamping down and not dealing with starts to erupt once she hits the limit of what she’s able to cope with by hurling herself onto grenades for other people. and jaune--
ruby’s breakdown was a long slow boil of things simmering beneath the surface until the crust of hope on top finally cracked; jaune’s is a keg of gunpowder detonating all at once. because he’s the last one standing, you know? he piled all this weight on himself, rebuilt his whole identity around being there for the ones he loves, that’s the essence of him reforming his sword with pyrrha’s metals, that’s the essence of his semblance, and… it’s not enough! in 8.14 he’s forced to make a horrific choice between losing two people by trying to save the one bleeding out in his arms while cinder kills weiss before turning on him, or accepting that he legitimately cannot save penny and making her death a quick one so they can snatch a tiny silver lining from the jaws of this crushing defeat. and like. that shatters him. his sword breaks, his aura breaks, he falls.
so… now there are three questions we’ll see answered:
1. what happens when both ruby and jaune—the inspiring ones, the leaders—break? how do things evolve when the two characters everyone relied on to pick up the pieces when things went to hell can’t do that anymore?
2. how do ren and nora cope (or not) with losing another member of their team, the one who held things together after pyrrha died—especially with this happening right after nora realized that she needs time to figure out who she is apart from ren? what does grief look like when it’s competing against not just the cruel and unfair demands of an ongoing war that won’t stop just because their friends are gone, but also with a newfound need for some emotional distance from the person you most want to rely on to cope with the pain of loss?
and
3. who does jaune become after losing his faith? after hitting the limits of the role that ultimately allowed him to make peace with losing pyrrha? he needs to rebuild himself again, so what kind of person will he choose to be now?
…and that third question is exactly why he fell, i think, because it’s the same sort of questions that both rwby and neo will be grappling with in v9. who does ruby become after losing her hope? how do the dynamics of her team change in the wake of this loss, of yang’s heroic sacrifice, of blake’s failure to catch ruby, of weiss being the last one standing after the rest of them fall? how do they fall apart and come together again once they’re separated from the inescapable pressure of the war back home? and likewise--how does neo learn to define herself outside of roman, and if she’s able to find emotional closure who does she become afterwards? who IS she without her grief and vengeance?
there’s also like—one of the many reasons i’m hoping for wonderland allusions on void island isn’t just for the delight of wonderland but also there is SO MUCH material in wonderland to mine for this: alice’s confusion and sadness and fear about the changes she undergoes in wonderland and everything she knows being turned on its head, even to the point of reciting nonsensical corruptions of familiar poems when she tries to speak them out loud! the pointless frantic running in circles of the caucus race! the cruel inanities of the endless tea party! the looking glass flowers! the red queen having to run at impossible speeds just to stay in one place! the forest where alice forgets her own name! the white queen remembering things backwards! the white knights inventions! alice becoming a queen by moving across the board! i knew who i was when i got up this morning but i think i must have been changed several times since then!! i can’t explain myself because i’m not myself!! tell me which way i ought to go / that depends a great deal on where you want to end up!! never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise!! i just, i just--there’s so much they could do with wonderland allusions right at this moment of the story that i just vibrate intensely whenever i think abt it

There hasn’t been a day you didn’t spend together. You go to every single one of his hockey practices and games, after which you head to the café for some coffee -- or in Charlie’s case, hot chocolate. He joins you and Andrea on your study dates, mostly to just annoy you by poking you with his pencil, begging you to go somewhere else. On nights where he doesn’t have practice and you’re not in the library to study, the two of you spend time in either one of your dorms to watch movies or tv-shows, cuddled up on the bed.
Though a lot of people started thinking  you are a couple, you hadn’t talked about that with Charlie yet. Even after him telling you about that reputation of his, you still wanted to be cautious. Your heart has been broken many times, you didn’t think it could handle another. Especially with a guy like Charlie. “Hey, Gorgeous,” Charlie greets flirtily when you arrive at the ice rink to watch him practice. You’ve got your sketchpad clutched to  your chest, ready to work on some of the Hockey Team’s drawings. “Hi, Char,” you say back, unable to withhold a giggle at his pet name for you. He’s been calling  you Gorgeous since the day after you went to the coffee house for the first time after the game. “Don’t you have to go and listen to what your coach is saying?” you ask, noticing the other’s gathering to listen to the coach’s instruction. He glances back at the team, then turns back to you with that charming, flirty smile of his you’ve come to love. “Nah, I’d rather say hello to a beautiful girl than listen to the coach blab about strategies that don’t work.” You roll your eyes at his obvious flirty behavior. Lately, though, he’s only ever flirting with you. You haven’t seen him talk to many other girls except you and Andrea, and between the two of you, he only ever flirts with you. Mostly because Sam will kill him if he does flirt with Andrea. “Hey, will you stay until after practice? I wanna show you something!” Charlie is always excited about everything, but this time, it tops all the others. His eyes are sparkling with hope and excitement, the hazel color turning more gold than brown, and his mouth is curled up into the brightest, widest smile you’d ever seen. “Yeah, of course!” you reply, trying to match his excitement. “Gillespie, get your ass over here!” Coach yells at him, which Charlie rolls his eyes at, making you chuckle. His gloved hand takes yours, basically ripping it off your sketchpad, and kisses your knuckles before giving you a wink and then skating off to join the team. All the boys welcome him back with a teasing uproar of cheers and wolf whistles. You chuckle, rolling your eyes amusedly, and then make your way to the bleachers where you continue working on your drawings, glancing up every now and then to watch Charlie on the ice. There was something about the way he skated around. So elegant. So peaceful. Charlie really is in his element on the ice. It’s the most adorable and attractive version of Charlie you know of. It’s the side of him you love the most since it’s the side you draw him in the most. Practice is over sooner than you thought it would and it only takes Charlie about fifteen minutes to come out of the dressing rooms, showered and ready to go. “Are you ready?” he asks, taking your hand to help you up from your seat. “I have no clue where we’re going, but yeah?” you reply as he leads you out of the rink, still holding your hand while your other clutches your sketchpad. He takes you across campus, going way faster than your feet can take. Your giggles fleet through the night sky, making some heads turn of students on their way to a party or their dorms. He takes you into the astrology building, through hallways and corridors until you reach the auditorium. He lets go of your hand and pushes the heavy doors open. You’re amazed those doors aren’t locked, but you’ve learned to just roll with whatever Charlie’s doing. The sight you’re met with right now is a breathtaking one. Blankets and pillows on the floor, food spread all around it, a guitar on the side, fairy lights scattered all around to illuminate the dark room, and, most importantly, a breathtaking view on the night sky. You scuffle inside, giving your eyes the time and pleasure to take it all in as Charlie stands back, watching you with an endeared, tender smile on his face. Once you feel you’ve seen everything, you turn around to Charlie. “Wha--? Charlie?” He laughs at your surprised and confused face before walking up to you and taking your hand again, now leading you towards the pile of blankets and pillows. “I’m buddies with the astrology professor, he gave me the keys and Andrea and her friends helped me put all of this in here,” he explains as the two of you sit down. With your mouth a little ajar, you look up to the beautiful stars above you. Charlie’s hand comes into your peripheral as he’s pointing up to show you something. “That’s the Big Dipper up there, right above us,” he informs you. “And that one over there,” he moves his hand slightly, “is Sirius, it’s considered to be the most beautiful star, but I beg to differ.” You look at him, finding him already looking at you with that flirty smile on his face again. “Oh, shut up.” You slap him on the chest playfully, unable to hide your smile or the blush that’s creeping up on your cheeks. Charlie definitely notices, but doesn’t say anything. Just knowing he has that effect on you, is enough for him. “So,” he opens the basket and takes out a bottle of white wine. “Andi told me you liked white wine, so… I told her she could buy a bottle she thinks you’d like and I paid her.” You chuckle at his explanation and nod your head. “I do love a good white wine.” He pours some of the goddess liquid into two glasses, and hands one to you. “You really are a charmer, Gillespie,” you say as you clink your glasses together, looking in each other’s eyes. “Is it working yet?” he asks while you take a sip. You let out a small moan at how good this wine is before looking up at Charlie again, a little confused at what he’s hinting at. “Is what working?” He chuckles nervously, twirling his wine around and staring at the whirlpool it’s creating. “What?” you chuckle, trying to capture his eyes. He finally looks up at you, his eyes sparkling with joy and hope, his mouth curling up into the most tender smile you’d ever seen. “What, Charlie?” you try again, getting a little insecure. “I thought it’d be pretty obvious right now that I’m insanely in love with you?” he blurts out with a nervous quiver in his tone. You’re taken aback by this answer. You knew he kind of liked you and his flirty behavior has increased over the days, but you thought that was it. A crush and a bit of harmless flirting. Nothing quite as serious as being in love. “Oh…” you manage to bring out. “Charlie, I--” he shakes his head, shutting you up. “No, I get it, Y/N. It’s fine. You don’t want to date someone with a reputation like mine. I get it…” You exhale slowly and place your glass of wine on the floor before grabbing Charlie’s hands in yours. He looks up at this, unsure of what’s happening. “It’s not you, Charlie.... I don’t care about the reputation you have because I get to see who you really are… And I like you, but I’m trying to be cautious with who I’m dating. My heart’s been broken many times before, and before you say ‘I’m not going to break your heart’, I know. You’re probably not, but… I just…” You heave in a deep breath, trying to think of something. “Just give me some time, okay?” You place a hand on his cheek and rub your thumb against the soft skin as it wrinkles into that beautiful, charming smile again. “Yeah, okay,” he replies, placing his hand on yours on his cheek. “We still… We still get to hang out though, right?” he queries carefully. You chuckle at this, retreating your hand, and nodding. “Phew! And you’re still coming to the game tomorrow?” “Yeah, of course. Wouldn’t want to miss it,” you reply and grab a grape from the basket. “Good, because I’m going to need my lucky charm when we play against St. Mary’s.” You shoot him a questioning look, tilting your head slightly. “They’re our biggest rivals. They’ve won against every other university, including us last season. We really have to beat them tomorrow.” You nod your head understandingly. “I’ll wear my best cheerleading outfit,” you say jokingly. Though, judging from Charlie’s eyes nearly popping out of his eye sockets, you know he’s not opposed to that idea. “I don’t have a cheerleading outfit, Char,” you tell him, just to be sure. His face falters, clearly disappointed. “You’d look hot in that though,” he mutters under his breath, but you heard him, loud and clear. With an amused smile plastered on your face, you shake your head at him. Even after his confession from earlier, nothing has changed between the two of you.  And for now, that’s all you need.
Dressed in black skinny jeans, Charlie’s Canada sweater he left in your dorm one night, and a beanie over your ears, you go to the ice rink. Andrea has already taken a seat in the bleachers, so you go up and join her. “How was your date last night?” she asks immediately without missing a beat. “It wasn’t a date. But it was really fun. Thank you, by the way. The wine was divine.” She chuckles and taps your thigh twice. “You’re most welcome,” she says. “Oh, look! Here come the boys!” she points to the ice where the team skates onto the field, ready to kick St. Mary’s ass. You lock eyes with Charlie as he gets into position. His lips turn up into a somewhat relieved smile, like he was scared she wouldn’t turn up after his confession last night. You offer him a wave and then a thumbs-up, shooting some encouragement his way. The first half goes really well. Charlie and Sam score most of the goals, but by half-time, they’re tied with St. Mary since their right and left wings are amazing players too. The coach calls the team to gather as you and Andrea make your way down to say hi afterwards. “St. Mary’s left wing has a weak knee,” you tell Charlie when he’s skated up to you, taking his helmet off and shaking his hair out. “Hello to you too,” he chuckles, placing one gloved hand over yours as they clutch the rink. “Sorry, hi! I saw their number 12 buckle a little when you accidentally hit his knee. I think you could use that to your advantage.” You’d never paid this much attention to a game, but knowing the team has to win against St. Mary, you figured you could use your observation skills to your advantage to find one for them. “Look who’s paying attention,” he smirks at you, which you amusedly roll your eyes at. “Thanks,” he adds when the ref blows his whistle to signal the start of the second half. “Good luck, Char,” you say and lean in to plant a kiss on his cheek. His eyes widen slightly at the sudden display of affection, unable to hide his cheeks reddening. You can’t help but smile as he skates off, ready for the second half. “You can’t tell me you’re not in love with him, Peaches,” Andrea says as she snakes an arm around your shoulders whilst you both walk back to your seats. “I am not in love with Charlie, Andi,” you reassure her, but you’re not even so sure anymore yourself. You’ve caught  yourself thinking about Charlie on more occasions than one, dreamt of kissing him, wished you could just spend more time with him. You knew you were slowly, but surely falling for him. Even after many attempts of occupying yourself with other thoughts. Nothing really seemed to work. But you were still going to deny it. To Charlie. To Andrea. But mostly, to yourself. You were so preoccupied by talking to Andrea, you didn’t even notice what was happening behind  you as you were getting back to your seat. “Yo, Gillespie,” St. Mary’s number 12 captures his attention, “Isn’t that new love of yours the weirdo artist kid that draws everyone they see like a stalker?.” Charlie’s jaw clenched as his hands balled up into fists. Sam intervenes before his buddy can take as much as a step forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. “It’s not worth it, man. Let’s just finish this game, okay?” Sam suggests. Charlie nods his head, calming down slightly as he starts making his way to his spot on the ice, only for number 12 to add some fuel to the fire. “What’s wrong, Gillespie? You’re not even going to defend them?” Charlie halts, trying his hardest to refrain himself. “So, you agree with me that they’re a fucking creepy stalker?” Charlie’s hands are back into fists, gripping harshly onto his hockey stick. “I can’t wait until after the game, so I can--” before number 12 finishes his sentence, Charlie drops his helmet and harshly tugs his gloves off before hitting the guy in his knee with his stick, making him tumble over onto the ice. He sits down on top of him, lashing out at the boy underneath. The ref whistles again while Charlie’s teammates try to get him off number 12, to no avail. Number 12 then takes over and rolls the both of them over, Charlie underneath him now, and punches him in the face a few times. You watch the spectacle from half-way to your seat, staring at the boys on the ice in pure shock and horror. You’re frozen in place, unsure about what to do. Though Charlie looks extremely hot, yet it looks so horrible. Why is it when boys fight, does it look so horrible, yet, feel so right? Soon enough, the boys are pulled apart by their coaches. There are blood splatters everywhere. On the ice, on the boys’ clothes and faces. Even on some of their teammates. The two are taken off the ice, another one filling in for them. Upon seeing this, you run down to where Charlie and his coach are, worry filling up your entire body. “Charlie!” you yell, but he doesn’t even look up. Sam comes up to you and tells you they’re thinking about taking him to the hospital. “Fuck,” you mutter. “Thanks, Sam.” You rush over to the bench where a doctor is taking care of Charlie’s wounds. “Charlie,” you whisper when you reach him. Another one of his teammates makes room for you to sit, which you do with a thankful smile towards them. “Is he gonna be okay?” you ask the doctor. “We’re gonna take him to the hospital for some check-ups, mainly to make sure he doesn’t have a concussion. But other than that, he’s fine.” You exhale slowly, then turn to Charlie again, grabbing his cold, bloody hand. “Hey, what happened?” you ask softly. He relaxes again upon hearing your melodic voice filled to the brim with worry. “Char, talk to me…” He looks up at you now. His right eye is punched shut and turning blue, his lip cut open and blood running from his nose. “He was saying things about you, Y/N. I couldn’t not do anything. He just made me so fucking angry,” he growls, tearing his eyes away from you again. You place your other hand onto the one you’re holding, trying your hardest to warm it up a little and to comfort him. He was defending you from God-knows-what awful things that number 12 was saying about you. He defended you in your absence. And looked so hot while doing it. “Alright, let’s go, Gillespie,” the coach says and hands him his shoes. You let go of his hand, so he can exchange his skates for his shoes, and look up at the coach. “What hospital are you taking him to?” you ask him. “Horizon’s,” the older man replies, and then helps Charlie up his feet since his leg has been brutally attacked by the number 12 too. “Come on,” he mutters. You get up too, and watch as Charlie limps by his coach's side. You turn and rush to Andrea again, only then realizing there were tears running down your face. She wipes them away with her thumbs, and looks into your eyes intensely. “Go! You can take my car.” She hands you her keys, kisses you on the cheek, and lets you go. You run to Andrea’s car and drive a little past the speed limit to get to the hospital as fast as possible. You know what you’re doing isn’t very safe, but you need to get to Charlie. You need to see him and make sure he’s okay. “I’m looking for Charlie Gillespie, he’s been brought in a little while ago?” you breathlessly ask the woman behind the front desk. You’re still panting from running from the car to the building. Your heart is going ten miles an hour, but it’s been doing that since the moment the fight broke out. “He’s gonna be in room 403, they’re still doing some tests, but you can wait for him there. It’s up to the fourth floor, you can take the elevator down the hall, there.” You nod at the woman, offering her the most thankful smile you can muster before making your way to the fourth floor. Your feet are getting sore from all the running, but you try your hardest to ignore it. There’s no stopping now. You have to be at Charlie’s side. Room 403 is empty, except for a wardrobe, a nightstand and a single armchair. He’s not here yet. You take a seat on the armchair for a few seconds, but then get back up and start pacing the room. Your nerves don’t allow you to sit still. You comb your fingers through your hair, muttering curses to the hospital staff to hurry their stupid tests. Something must be wrong with Charlie. There’s no other reason why they’d take so long. Not that you have a lot of experiences with hospitals except for maybe seeing a relative die in one, but never ever something like this. “Hey, Y/N, right?” a voice makes you snap out of your train of thoughts. It’s Charlie’s coach, carrying some of Charlie’s clothes in his hands. “Uhm, yeah, hi.” He offers you a smile as he walks in and places the clothes on the armchair. “They’re finished with the tests, he’s gonna be here in a few,” he informs you. “I’m gonna get something from the cafeteria, do you want anything?” You jam your nervous hands into the pockets of your jeans. “Oh, no, thank you,” you say and shoot him a stiff smile. He nods curtly before moving out of the room and leaving you alone again. This time, though, it doesn’t last too long. Within a minute, two nurses wheel him into the room on a hospital bed. You quickly move out of the way. He looks so fragile and broken on that hospital bed with all his wounds and bruises, and his eyes drooping from tiredness. “There you go, mister Gillespie,” the young man says as he puts the brakes on the bed, to make sure he doesn’t roll away again. “Ring if you need anything.” The other turns to you and says, “All tests went well. He has a slight concussion and some broken ribs, but he’ll be fine. Just make sure not to talk too loudly because that’ll give him a headache.” “Okay, thanks,” you give the two nurses a smile and let them walk out before you move to Charlie’s bedside. He looks at you from underneath his lashes, noticing how nervous you are, and reaches for your hand. “Hey,” he croaks out. “How are you feeling?” you ask. Your voice croaky from the tears you’re holding in. “I’m okay,” he answers, “Please, tell me that asshole looks worse than me.” He chuckles, then whinces at the pain his laughter causes to his ribs. “I’ve got no clue. I didn’t really look at that dude, I was too worried about you.” He smiles at you tenderly and brings your hand to his mouth to kiss your knuckles. “Charlie, I--” you start, but cut yourself off, not knowing how to say what you want to say. “Hey, come here,” he scoots over clumsily, giving you some space on the bed. You debate the option, but after looking into his pleading eyes -- or pleading eye since one is pretty much just punched shut -- you get on the bed, one leg dangling off. “What was he saying about me that made you so mad?” you ask, not at all what you wanted to, but you’re going with it for now. “He called you a fucking creep and a stalker because he somehow found out you draw the people you see?” Your heart skips a beat. He defended you for the one thing you were bullied about in high school. “I just… I know how much you hated that when it happened to you in high school, and because, you know, I’m in love with you and I don’t ever want you to feel that way again…” You smile a little at his second reason whilst butterflies well up in your stomach. “Charlie…” you start, making him turn his head at you. “Remember when I asked you for some time?” He nods his head slowly and carefully. “That was yesterday, so yes, I remember. I only have a slight concussion, babe.” You grab his hand in yours, rubbing circles on the back of his hand as you bite your lip nervously. “I don’t think I need any more time…” you carefully look up at him to see his surprised, and hopeful reaction. His eyes are sparkling again. Much like the stars you were watching last night. “So, does that mean I can finally kiss you?” he tries. One corner of his mouth curls up, and when you nod, the other follows. “Fucking finally!” he exclaims before gingerly grabbing your face with the hand you’re  not holding and bringing you closer to him to press his lips to yours in a long-awaited, passionate kiss. One that ends too quickly with a hiss from him. “That hurts doesn’t it?” you ask worriedly. “Only the normal amount,” he shrugs and kisses you again before you can say anything else. “The normal amount is no pain, babe,” you mumble against his lips. Charlie doesn’t listen though, and instead, deepens the kiss even more. He’s been waiting for this to happen for weeks. Weeks of constant flirting and taking you on stargazing dates or coffee dates or pointing at you whenever he made a goal. Weeks of pining for the most beautiful artist he’s ever met in his life. And now, he’s finally kissing you. Finally.

Football Albert and Band Race my beloved.
I'M SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG i'm finally going through my inbox and there's some God Tier Shit in here but !!!! i need this one to answer another one SO-
i’m gonna apologize in advance for not knowing absolutely fucking anything about football in advance i’m so sorry
THEM
ugh ok lemme just-
i’ve said it before and i’ll probably say it again, albert is the quarterback cause Of Course He Is
he’s also just,,,,,, so enthusiastic. and so competitive. he puts his heart and soul into every sport he plays and football is DEFINITELY included in that
race is,,,,,, well he’s more of a theater kid than a band kid, but that doesn’t change the fact he’s the little shit with a megaphone at every game
he leads cheers, shouts encouragement, is the LOUDEST voice in the crowd even without the megaphone. all of that is multiplied 10 fold when him and al get together junior year
he usually sits with the group that’s NOT on the field (cause i think kath would be a cheerleader and nobody can stop me from making that true. oh and spot and probably hotshot are also on varsity football with al)
but when the standing senior qb gets injured on a missed audible and holy shit albert gets to play with the score tied
race can SEE the panic on albert’s face from the stands as the coach calls timeout and has the offense huddle up
so,,,,,, he sweet talks his way past the gate (and by that i mean the teacher assigned to it was miss medda and she saw him sprinting down the steps and let him leap the fence without yelling at him)
and gets coach denton (our local comfort 11/12 english teacher and head football coach) to let him talk to albert before he goes on the field
albert is, of course, a nervous wreck cause fuck what if i mess up that pitch or get sacked or just suck
which is completely irrational, cause he’s memorized every sequence they play and can do it all with flawless accuracy and even without that he could play ANY position on this team but is qb cause he can throw the ball the length of the entire field with no warm up if he wants to
and race can read him like a book so he just
“al, both of us know you’re the best goddamn quarterback that’s ever played for this team and you just haven’t got to show it yet. you’re gonna go out there and lead that team, cause you know you can and you’re really fucking good at it. you can do this, don’t overthink it.”
and with that, he drags albert into a searing kiss before shoving back towards the field with a call of “give ‘em hell, babe!”
and the relieved smile that turns into a confident smirk makes race’s heart flip flop in his chest as al runs away from him
then he’s back up in the stands, lined up next to his friends with all their chests pressed against the safety fence as their offense gets ready
and he can see al stop the lead offensive lineman and say something before getting in position
what he doesn’t know is that al was stopping him to tell him to let the other teams’ defense through
cause race told him to give ‘em hell, so he’s gonna do it the best way he knows (✨with violence✨)
so they hike the ball, and the same guy who shattered their qb’s tibia in his final season before college comes barreling DIRECTLY at albert
and race is more than kind of freaking out from where he’s half hiding in jack’s shoulder
but albert catches the ball from the hike, glances out of his periphery, and does a perfectly timed duck to send said defensive player sprawling onto the ground on the other side of him with the wind knocked out of his lungs while albert launches the football to one of his running backs
and race just absolutely CACKLES cause he knows exactly what expression albert’s pointing at the winded player from behind his helmet and it’s nothing if not TERRIFYING
and then albert keeps playing as good as race knew he would, so they win the game by a landslide
and naturally the group and the team all head for jacobi’s, the dinner near their high school that runs a “players eat free” night every time the school team wins
the energy is electric, buzzing on adrenaline and excitement, and al is sat back with his arm draped over the back of race’s chair laughing at whatever story jack is entertaining them with and he just looks around and basks in the warmth
hhhhhhh THEYRE SO GOOD PLS-
they’re very in love and i cant get over it someone help
also this switches randomly between being race-centric and albert-centric so if that annoyed you i’m really sorry my brain just can’t Stay Focused

Group 4 Adult hc’s please 😭 they’re all precious! Thank you for loving Group 4
YES OMG! I love this! And you’re so right 😭 They are so precious and I adore them 💜
WAIT. I wasn’t sure if you meant individual hc’s or ones of them all together 😭 If I messed this up, lmk and I’ll do new hc’s!!
Karma Akabane
He’s a distinguished bureaucrat by day, a compete fucking disaster by night
No who am I kidding
He brings chaos no matter what time
Lives to drive his co-workers insane, even if he gets along with them. It’s just a habit of him being around anyone lmao
His apartment is really expensive and nice...except it’s also a fucking mess.
See when he was a kid and lived alone, there was still a maid around. He didn’t live like a slob.
But as an adult with no supervision whatsoever....well, he kinda lets loose. A lot.
Drops his $500 suits right onto his floor, has piles of clothing around, his official government papers are laying everywhere, like Karma, isn’t that illegal??? Lmao
Invites his co-workers out for drinks, or he happily goes along if someone else invites him. Actually makes more of an effort to be social as an adult, surprisingly.
Irritates Terasaka whenever he gets to see him...which is fairly often hehe
Also likes to barge into Group 4’s lives...literally. Like he’ll randomly show up to Nagisa’s classroom, sneak onto Kayano’s film set, invite himself into the nursing home Kanzaki is at and befriend elderly people, etc.
No matter what though, you can’t change Karma lmao. He will go to ridiculous and edgy methods in his job, even snoop on government officials outside of work
You DO NOT want him as an enemy. If any politician crosses him, Terasaka tears up on their behalf. “Just try to survive, man.” “Uh, what?” “You’ll see.”
Competent adult rating: 5/10
Manami Okuda
It’s not surprising of course, but she’s totally dedicated to her work and research. Her loved ones have to remind her to take breaks often.
Her apartment is generally tidy because she’s barely there.
Her work desk space on the other hand...is hella messy lol. She tends to throw papers around in the middle of stuff, and there are a few old food containers or takeout boxes from late night work.
She likes to tie her hair up in a braided bun often, to keep it out of the way. That’s mandatory for lab work anyways.
Dresses in a lot of casual but comfy attire, like blouses, jeans, skirts and boots, etc.
Gets along well with her colleagues, but she still has that habit of being a little reserved. Like she won’t jump right into hanging out with them, only if she’s invited to.
Her communication skills have improved so much omg, let’s all be proud of her <3
She has a pet chameleon!! It’s name is Rutherford, after the chemist lol
Tomohito Sugino
He actually lives by the strictest guidelines out of all of them
Since he’s a professional athlete, he really has to take care of his body and maintain his physique.
So like...a diet focusing on proteins, vitamins, nutrients, lean meats, vegetables, etc. All that good stuff.
And he works out twice a day. Once in the morning, he goes out for a jog as cardio. Then in the evening, he’ll do a more strength-based workout for his core and biceps.
As usual, he is very social and makes friends super easily UwU. When he’s not focusing on work (this is rare) he likes to make plans with people often.
Can’t handle being alone for too long
Gets confused/annoyed by finance matters a lot lmao. Hates filing taxes and doing paperwork, treats it like a chore rather a necessity for adulting
He has a really popular Instagram page actually, given that he’s a well-known baseball player. He posts mostly selfies, pics with friends, workout mirror selfie’s lmao, and of course pics of his dog
She’s a golden Labrador named Kimi, and he adores her so much. She’s a puppy still but she’s very active and loving.
He becomes a really popular meme for his very tired facial expression during a particularly rough game. Sugino takes great pride in this lmao
Credit to @assclass-dump for this amazing idea: Sugino being like Tony Hawke, and literally no one recognizes him outside of his baseball uniform lmaooooo. I love that.
Kaede Kayano
She has her shit together...for the most part
Kayano’s fame as an actress only grows more and more as she gets older. She has a ton of awesome big roles, even internationally.
This is canon: she does her own stunts and she always amazes the entire crew, especially if her co-star is new to meeting her and had no idea.
Kayano tends to not always take care of herself that well though. She exercises and maintains a strong physique daily, but her meals tend to consist of like...a flimsy salad and a pudding cup and that’s it.
Her apartment is pretty taken care of for the most part, especially when she’s filming and only comes back for sleep.
On her off-months though, best believe this girl tries to chill at home for as much as she can lol. She needs that well-deserved rest.
Kayano visits Aguri’s grave once every month. She brings her favorite flowers and gives kind of a life update on everything. She cries every time.
During her lowest moments, she’ll open up the yearbook that Korosensei left for her. She’ll read all his encouraging notes, laugh at the goofy memories they made...
She stays in contact with Kanzaki and Sugino the most. It’s harder with Karma and Okuda who have very demanding jobs too...and Nagisa who is hyper-focused on teaching
Gets involved in a couple dating scandals and such because the media is bored and nosy. But she shuts that shit down so fast and ruthlessly.
Yukiko Kanzaki
Adulting definitely comes the easiest for her, out of all of them
At the residence care facility she works at, she’s known for being the chillest and prettiest nurse
Bonds with most of her patients very easily. She especially has a sweet spot for elderly women, since they remind her of her beloved grandmother
She also had learned to be more open and comfortable with expressing herself. Unlike her junior high self, she isn’t envied or disliked or treated as an idol.
She actively communicates with her co-workers and has become better at making connections.
In true Kanzaki fashion, she absolutely will speak out if an injustice happens near her, and this sadly can be common in elderly care homes.
She doesn’t tolerate mistreatment at all. She voices her concerns and objections in her usual classy way, but if nothing changes, she’ll be persistent and more aggressive.
Kanzaki lives in a fairly modest apartment not too far from work. She walks every morning to get fresh air and enjoy being outside. She also stops by a cafe for breakfast and brings something for a co-worker she’s especially close to.
Even though her family could afford to get something way nicer and more expensive, Kanzaki insisted they don’t. She wants to work hard and achieve things through effort.
Besides she’s always been curious about a more humble lifestyle. She finds that she actually enjoys it immensely.
Nagisa Shiota
Hey hey hey, it’s our favorite new teacher <3
Seriously Nagisa is super dedicated to his job. He spends a good portion of his free time making more plans and ideas for future lessons.
He’s also just...such a spectacular teacher.
No matter how difficult his students may be, he never treats them like they’re problems. He always gives them a lot of kindness and respect, which sadly they don’t get a lot from others.
Disciplines in a really good way, like he’ll correct them but won’t sound condescending. He doesn’t sugarcoat, he’ll be honest but absolutely will give new chances.
Also can be totally fun and goofy if the time calls for it. Doesn’t want his students to ever fear him or feel like he’s unapproachable.
Makes learning to be fun and creative, also connects with each student one-on-one for sure.
He lives in a super tiny apartment. That teacher salary bro 😔
Takes a train everyday for a short commute to get to work.
His apartment also is prone to being littered around with a bunch of teaching stuff until he gets to organizing it.
Is generally very liked by his colleagues! Some of them don’t really agree with his teaching style and think he’s too lenient, Nagisa doesn’t pay them mind.
Can cook really well but is prone to buying convenience store meals often, because of his schedule.
Keeps a photo of 3-E on his nightstand.

Just A Touch Of Your Love
Kenma, Daichi, Tendou, Tsukishima with a s/o who isn’t really comfortable/fairly familiar with physical touch.
Kozume Kenma x Reader
Sawamura Daichi x Reader
Tendou Satori x Reader
Tsukishima Kei x Reader
Sorry I didn’t post this last night Anon, I hit a dead-end where I couldn’t type anything TT I was in a funk and nothing was really sounding right, I hope this is okay though! I grew up with brothers so I still do flinch quite a lot whenever people move too quickly,,,,, it kinda makes for some awkward conversations LOL but in truth I just used to get my shit rocked all the time. It made me super tough though! (▼-▼*)
WC- 2,252
~~~
Kozume Kenma
I think Kenma would be able to understand this really well
He seems like the type to dislike being touched, it might be because he just doesn’t like it or because it isn’t something he is used to, I don’t think he is a physical touch person
Therefore, he would be very understanding and respectful of your space, he would always ask before touching you and just to make sure you’re okay with it
Kenma wants to make sure you are comfortable~
And in return you do the same with him,,,, relationships are all about exploring and learning the other person so I feel like Kenma would really appreciate if you also respected his boundaries
That doesn’t mean he isn’t going to cuddle you or hug you because,,,, he is but he just needs to get used to it
If you ever flinch around him, he would get really worried
He’d straight out ask you why you don’t like being touched, not in a rude way but he is genuinely curious
Kenma would be such a good listener and would probably be able to help you feel better, he’d never invalidate your feelings!
Little by little, you both will become more secure in the touches you want to give the other
“I can’t stand whenever people touch me.” Kenma winces as another person brushes past his shoulder, he has to refrain from rolling his eyes. He glances down at where you are practically shoved into his chest, looking just as uncomfortable. “Are you okay?” He asks and you mutter back a ‘fine’. “I know it’s rush hour but we will get off soon, it’s just a few more stops.” He tells you quietly and you nod, trying to focus on his voice.
Once the two of you finally get to your stop, you feel like you can breathe again. You step off the train with light feet and glance at Kenma to make sure he is behind you. At the last second, an older man knocks his shoulder into yours, making you wince and Kenma has barely any time to pull you close to him before the train closes once again.
“What a dick.” Your boyfriend glares at the receding train, his eyes practically freeze the businessman in place. “(Y/N), are you okay?” He asks again and you nod, though you’re mentally replaying the scene over and over again.
“I’m not used to people touching me, I kind of hate it.” You tell him quietly and Kenma looks at his hands clutching your shoulders. “I like when you touch me though, d-don’t worry!” You throw him a reassuring smile and Kenma nods slightly.
“I don’t like when people touch me, it feels gross in a way.” He confesses and you nod understandingly. “I like when you touch me though, I always have. I guess it just takes time to get used to.”
His words make you feel better, Kenma is always so understanding and supportive with any of the issues you face.
“We have time, right?” You ask him timidly and Kenma hooks his pinky in yours while you two walk towards the exit of the station.
“Yeah, we do.”
Sawamura Daichi
I feel like Daichi would pick up on the way you act around others when he first starts crushing on you..... He’d notice very quickly the way you avoid your friend’s touches
Probably after you start dating he would ask you about it, because he wants to make sure he doesn’t make you uncomfortable. When you explain that you just aren’t used it, Daichi will definitely note it
Daichi would be very cautious with you, I feel like he would be really good at making sure you feel relaxed
He would be more protective of you when around others and will always act like a barrier whenever you started getting nervous
Daichi would notice very quickly how you flinch or wince away from his touches
He’d be really worried and put his hand on your shoulder, just hovering it over your shirt, to see how you would react
His mind would run for hours and he’d ultimately confront you with asking what’s wrong, why you flinch away from his touches
It’s not in an overbearing, guilt way, Daichi is just really worried that is was something bad that happened in the past
He would always reassure you and tell you that he’d never hit you, never lay a hand on you in a violent way
It starts with him gaining your trust little by little but you tell him that he doesn’t have to worry too much because you already enjoy his touch so much~ just not too much of it,,,
“Hey babe,” Daichi calls from behind you, you look at the doorway of the classroom and smile when you notice your post-practice boyfriend.
“Hi, Daichi.” You smile and then clean up your supplies, messily shoving them into your bag. “Hold on, I was just finishing my homework.”
Daichi gives you a small encourage praise, telling you how smart you are, before ruffling your hair. You can’t help but laugh at the act of endearment while the two of you walk out of the building. When you get to the gates of the school you notice a few other players still left from practice and you timidly stare at the ground.
“Hey (Y/N)!” Sugawara waves and you give him a gentle smile before waving back. You notice a few of the first years running out of the gym and you jump behind Daichi, almost getting nailed by the hyper duo.
“Oi!” Daichi calls at Kageyama and Hinata but they’re already too far gone to ever hear. “Are you okay?” He asks quietly and you nod, squeezing his arm reassuringly. You continue to talk with Sugawara for a few more minutes before you split up and walk your separate ways home. “You’re so quiet today, are you sure everything is okay?” Daichi asks, carefully looking at you and you simply shrug.
“I’m just tired, I guess.” You yawn and refrain from leaning your head on Daichi’s shoulder.
“You can use me for support.” Your boyfriend offers out his arm and you glance between his wrist and his eyes.
“Really? Are you sure?” You ask and Daichi nods reassuringly, gently motioning to his arm. You grab onto his jacket and cautiously rest your head on his shoulder. “Is this okay?”
“Yup, it’s perfectly fine,” Daichi tells you and you bite the inside of your cheek. His body heat slowly starts to warm you up and you start randomly talking about things that happened today. Daichi continues to smile down at you with fond eyes, listening, and hanging onto your every word while brushing his hand against your own. His subtle touches like this make you feel so safe, it’s a feeling you never thought you’d experience.
Tendou Satori
Listen, Tendou is going to have a hard time with this one
He just seems like the type whose love language is physical touch
So he might not pick up on it at first,,,, he just wants to shower you in all his love and hugs and everything he can do
However, when Tendou starts to notice the way you cower away from his hands or you avoid his hugs he would be worried
He would ask you about it and when you tell him that you aren’t really comfortable with touching people because of things that happened in the past, then Tendou would mentally facepalm himself
He’d be really relieved though, I feel like he would try joking and say something like ‘I thought it’s because I smelled bad!’
Tendou just wants you to feel the best, the same way he feels whenever he is with you
He’d slowly work up your tolerance with his touches, little things like holding your pinky or simply brushing his hand against yours
It’s not that you dislike the way he touches you because you actually enjoy them, it’s just that you can’t help but be too cautious with them
Tendou now knows this, which is why he is much more careful with you, he’d never want to do anything to make his precious Angel feel cornered :-(
“All I’m saying (Y/N),” Tendou spits jokingly. “if I were there at the agni kai I would have fought alongside Azula. Fuck a bitch named Katara.” Your boyfriend has been ranting for the last twenty minutes about the ending of Avatar and why he thinks there should have been a fourth season. “I’ll start bending the lightning.” He threatens and shoots his hand up into the air to ‘redirect lightning’, the sudden movement causes you to flinch and curl in on yourself and Tendou jumps back dramatically at your movement. He tilts his head curiously and you offer him a small reassuring smile like you didn’t just back away from his touch. “Baby, I’m not going to actually electrocute you, ”
Tendou gently cups your face and frowns at the way you wince at his touch, you’re staring at his hands like they burn you. It isn’t that his touch is bad, you’re just not used to it. Tendou knows this and in return has scaled back his love language of physical touch to help you feel more comfortable, but here and there he does slip up.
“You don’t like this?” He asks and you know it’s not in a way to make you feel guilty, Tendou genuinely wants to know if you're okay with this.
“No, I do like it,” You whisper and stare at the ground. “I’m just not used to it so it feels weird.” It feels nice to get this off your chest and Tendou internally fights with himself between backing away or holding you close. Instead, you make the decision for him. Your hands come up and cup his own as you give him a gentle smile. “I really like your touch Tendou.”
Your boyfriend goes quiet and you get a little nervous at his reaction, he is internally melting at how cute you are. Keep it together Tendou, keep it together.
“And I really, really like you (Y/N)~”
Tsukishima Kei
Tsukishima is another person who strikes me as one who doesn’t like being touched too much
Whether that is just an assholey thing, like me, or it is awkward for him…. Idk,,
All I know is this mf doesn’t like being touched unless he actually likes the person like Yamaguchi or Nishinoya
You’d think with that big head of his, heyyyy big head, he would also note the way you aren’t really comfortable with being touched
He doesn’t….. This mf just thinks it is because of him, that you don’t like being touched by him
This will end up with him bottling his feelings, like Tsukishima does, until he eventually grows tired and explodes
Telling you all sorts of things he doesn’t mean and you’re just standing there like…. What
And then you explain to him that you just aren’t a fan of being touched that much, though you do really like the way he touches you and Tsukishima is like,,, ‘oh so I am the asshole’
This confrontation though would make him much more understanding and it would probably clear out the tense air that was hanging around the two of you, it makes Tsukishima appreciate you even more and you both would become even closer
Maybe one day it’ll come to the point where you have to beg Tsukishima for touches and not the other way around LOL
“Do you even like me?” Tsukishima asks one day while you’re walking home after school, you turn to him in complete confusion. What brought this up? Tsukishima scoffs at your expression and takes it as a motive to continue. “You don’t like it when I touch you.” He states and at that moment, brushes his hand against yours. You pull your hand back to your side at the soft touch, not at all expecting him to do that.
“Why would you even date someone if you don’t like them?” Tsukishima’s nose twitches in annoyance and he reaches out to grab your hand, at his quick movement you flinch and bring your hands up to cover your head. Immediately you duck as a reflex. “Huh?” He blinks down at you, his heart tightens in his chest at the way you distance yourself away from him. “Did you think I was going to hit you?”
“Of course not,” You answer quickly and brutally honest, you know Tsukishima would never touch you like that even if teases you and he says he would. “sorry I’m not really accustomed to touches like that yet. I do really like you though.” You bite the inside of your cheek and try to turn your face to hide your embarrassment. Tsukishima internally sighs, fuck, he is an asshole.
“I’m sorry,” He starts and you glance at him in shock. “for scaring you and accusing you of not liking me.” Tsukishima mutters and you quickly open your mouth again but he cuts you off before you can even say anything. “I shouldn’t pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.”
“I do, I do want to hold your hand and touch you but I just haven’t gotten used to it.” You tell him and Tsukishima hums under his breath. “Do you believe me?"
“Obviously, idiot.” He gentle knocks his knuckles against your forehead, walking closely next to you as you two make your way back to your houses. Tsukishima respects your space and most importantly respects you~
D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996) is the best Ducks movie and a flawless coming of age movie
It’s no secret that The Mighty Ducks are a beloved trilogy. The three films spawned a professional NHL team named in their honor, 2021 sequel series, as well as many knockoff films released in the 1990s. But with any movie series, fans tend to rank the films and have passionate opinions on which is the best. For most Ducks fans, the answer is simple: D2. It has the Bash Brothers, Team USA dominating, the iconic “Ducks Fly Together” scene and two Queen songs. What’s not to love? But upon a rewatch of the trilogy, I came to realize that it’s not D2, or even the original, that is the best in the series.
It’s the criminally underrated 1996 D3 that for me, is the most mature and has the most heart. Perhaps it’s that the Ducks are now old enough to carry their own weight on screen. Perhaps it’s that the film takes a look at trauma, specifically trauma in teenagers, and how that manifests itself. Perhaps it’s that the film is maybe ahead of its time, in the way it discusses classism, racism and sexism. There is so much about this overly hated film that makes it the best Ducks movie and a perfect coming of age film.
The movie starts presumably a few years following the Ducks’ win against Iceland. They all look noticeably older - definitely older than the middle schoolers we left behind in 1994 - and all of the male Ducks’ voices have dropped a few octaves. Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez, is presenting the team (except for unfortunately, Jesse Hall, a leader among the Ducks who would’ve made for a strong presence in this mature film, as well as Portman, but we’ll get to him later) with scholarships to his alma mater, Eden Hall, a preparatory high school in Minnesota. Charlie Conway, played by a young, pre-Dawson’s Creek Joshua Jackson, is the Ducks’ captain and unspoken leader. There’s been much debate over the years over whether or not Charlie is the true captain of the Ducks. Adam Banks, played by Vincent Larusso, is far and away better than practically every Duck combined. Fulton Reed, played by Elden Henson, has shown more maturity and leadership at this point. It’s probably true that the Ducks as a team think that Charlie is Captain because of Bombay’s favoritism towards him (and his mother), but I think that this film makes it abundantly clear why Charlie is the captain.
D3 is Charlie’s story. We see that in the opening scene, when Bombay tells Charlie he will not be following the team to Eden Hall, accepting a job instead in California. We learned in the original Mighty Ducks film, that Charlie and his mother left a bad situation in Charlie’s father when Charlie was very young. We also hear about Charlie’s mother, Casey’s marriage to a new man in the D2, who we can assume from what Jan says, that Charlie doesn’t like. We see in that first film, Charlie’s reaction to Bombay announcing that he is leaving the Ducks after the two of them have formed a bond. It is very clear that Charlie deals with abandonment issues, stemming from trauma in his early childhood. Charlie freaks out when a D3 Bombay announces the same thing, and storms off.
Change is the biggest theme in D3. We see how change affects each of the Ducks, even those who don’t get many lines. Some, like Russ Tyler, played by SNL’s Kenan Thompson, think it’s a good thing. All of the Ducks don’t come from good neighborhoods and we assume that most of them don’t have the best home lives, especially when Charlie tells their new coach, Orion, played by Jeffrey Nordling, that the Ducks are the only good thing that any of them have had. Going to a preparatory school should be a good thing for them. But for most of them, it’s not. The new Ducks (who by the way, three of which are people of color, and one of which, is a woman) are immediately told that “their kind” is not welcome at Eden Hall. The Varsity team claim that they feel this way because the captain’s younger brother was not admitted onto the JV team because of the Ducks’ scholarships, but it’s very clear what they really mean. Russ commented that he’s the only black person on the whole campus earlier, and he, Luis Mendoza (The Sandlot’s Mike Vitar) and Ken Wu (Justin Wong) are the only people of color we see in the film. Change takes a toll on each member of the team. We see it the most in Charlie, but we also hear from Fulton on how the separation from his best friend, Dean Portman (Aaron Lohr), who decided not to enroll at Eden Hall, is taking a toll on him. Connie (Margerite Moreau) and Guy (Garrette Henson) have presumably broken up, as the two small scenes we get of them, they are arguing. It’s a transition period, one that the first year of high school often is. But it’s also a look on how a rich, white privileged world is vastly different than the one that the Ducks are used to.
Coach Orion seems like a hardass, especially when he tells Charlie at their first practice that he will no longer be “Captain Duck” (as coined by D2’s Gunnar Stahl, played by Scott Whyte, who now plays the level-headed Varsity goalie Scooter). This, to the Ducks, is a line in the sand. Ever since Bombay turned District 5 into the Ducks four years previous, Charlie has been their captain. They’re in a whole new environment, where the man who gave them so much happiness and so many friendships isn’t, and their “little Duck tricks” won’t work anymore. Orion thinks Charlie is a showoff, and perhaps he is. This Charlie is vastly different than the sweet, shy Charlie we see in D1 and D2. But this Charlie is older, has just been abandoned by a man he considered a father, and is being harassed on a daily basis for being, as Varsity Captain Reilly puts it, “white trash.” I find it hard to believe sometimes that fans can look at Charlie from the outside, and not see who he is on the inside. All of Charlie’s closest relationships that we see portrayed in this movie, are with women. His mother (who he, as a teenage boy, says “I love you” to in the final scene of the movie), his teammates, Connie and Julie, who he gets a lot more screentime with, and with new love interest, Linda (Margot Finley).
I think now is a great time to talk about the shockingly impressive way all of the female characters are portrayed in this series, particularly this movie, especially for a 90s sports film. Connie has always been a leader on and off the ice. She’s in a relationship with Guy, but it’s not her only character trait. Dubbed “the Velvet Hammer” by Averman (Matt Doherty), she stands up for herself, and for her shy teammates (she literally shoves Peter Mark - a character cut out of D2 and D3 for good reason - in D1 when he insults Charlie) and stands up to the entire Varsity team despite them telling her that they hope they can “fight” with her later. Julie “The Cat” Gaffney (Columbe Jacobsen) is the second best player on the Ducks, despite the little ice time (thanks, Bombay) we see her have. She is the first person to tell of the Varsity, telling Captain Reilly that his little brother “just wasn’t good enough.” She’s a huge facilitator in the fire ant prank and despite the very weird and out of character game she had against the Blake Bears, shows that she deserves the number one goalie slot that Reilly gives her - despite what Goldberg, and the obvious underlying sexism there, have to say. I’ve also always been very impressed with Charlie’s mother, Casey (Heidi Kling). Although she has a romance with Bombay in D1, she makes it clear from the get go that her first priority is Charlie. We know that she took the two of them away from an abusive situation, and she’s a goddamn hero for that. Her scenes in D3 are limited, but they always show her chastising Charlie’s antics and encouraging him to stay in school. It goes unsaid, but it’s clear that she knows that he’s not going to get an education this good in the problematic public school system. But according to Linda, Charlie’s love interest, the private school system is no better. The first time we see Linda, she is protesting the “outdated” Warriors team name. This was in a 1996 kids movie, no less. She holds her own against Charlie, calling him out when he’s wrong. No one aside from Charlie, and maybe Fulton, get much screentime or lines aside from Bombay and Orion, but her presence and the point of her character is clear - not every rich person agrees with the horrible things that wealthy people do.
Back to the plot.
When the Ducks receive their positions, they learn that Banks, as a freshman, has made Varsity. From an outside perspective, they seems obvious. Banks is the best player we see in any of the films, definitely miles better than the losers on Varsity, so it seems obvious that he would be promoted. But Banks is unhappy with this. Adam Banks is a fan favorite character, definitely due to the sweet, understated performance by Larusso, but we don’t see much of him. From what we do see of him though, he underwent a huge character arc from D1 to now. In D1, Banks goes against his father’s protests and joins the Ducks, claiming that he “just wants to play hockey.” Here in D3, we see that Banks is utterly miserable despite playing with some of the best players in the state, purely because he’s not with his friends. At the end of the film, he makes the (questionable) decision to rejoin the Ducks and go against the Varsity. But Varsity seems to feel that Banks fits in with them, for obvious reasons. He’s the only Duck who comes from an affluent background, and he’s definitely the most clean cut. Captain Reilly is visibly angry in the final showdown with the Ducks that they no longer have Banks on their side, as if he’s betrayed “his kind.”
The turning point of the film comes when after Charlie has quit the freshman team (no longer the Ducks), Hans, a father figure to the Ducks and Bombay, suddenly passes away. It’s an insanely dark moment for a Disney film, especially when Bombay returns to the funeral and reminds the Ducks that it was “Hans who taught them to fly” and Charlie storms off, crying. I think Joshua Jackson, in the Ducks films, as well as in Dawson’s Creek, is phenomenally good at portraying teenagers who wouldn’t normally be seen as leading men. Who let their emotions overtake them, who have anger issues, who deal with familial problems. Characters like that in leading roles were almost unheard of in the 90s, and in the upcoming scenes, it reminds us why this side of Charlie that we’ve seen throughout the movie is not the only side of Charlie.
Bombay takes Charlie to the rink to see Orion skating with his disabled daughter, who was injured in a car accident. He reveals to Charlie that Orion quit the NHL to take care of her, and this immediately changes Charlie’s opinion of him, but he’s still unconvinced about rejoining the team. The next scene is without question, the greatest and most important scene of the trilogy. The last two films spent way too much time telling us how great of a person Bombay was, how he was the Minnesota Miracle Man,despite us seeing so little of that onscreen. We see him making mistake after mistake, hurting the team, being an unjustified dick to those around him. But this scene more than makes up for all of that. I’ve put the quote from this scene below.
Bombay: I was like you, Charlie. When I played hockey, I was a total hot shot. I tried to take control of every game. I wound up quitting. So I tried the law. I ruled the courtroom, but inside, I’m a mess. Start drinking. Man, I was going down. But then this great thing happened, maybe the best thing ever - I got arrested and sentenced to community service. And there you were - Charlie and the Ducks. And as hard as I fought it, there you were. You gave me a life, Charlie, and I want to say thank you. I told Orion about all of this when I talked to him about taking over. I told him that you were the heart of the team and that you would learn something from each other. I told him that you were the real Minnesota Miracle Man.
Charlie: You did?
Bombay: I did. So be that man, Charlie. Be that man.
It’s a callback to D2, when Jan tells Bombay “Be that man, Gordon. Be that man.” This scene is flawless. Every good thing that has happened to the Ducks, came because of Charlie’s heart. It came because of that game when Charlie refused to cheat, and made Bombay see his wrongs. It came because of when Bombay first tried to quit the team, and seeing how hurt Charlie was, agreed to stay. It was Charlie who stepped out of the game against Iceland so that Banks could play. It was Charlie who found them Russ. Giving the credit to a young, emotionally unstable teenager, rather than their Emilio Estevez, hotshot Bombay, is the best thing this series ever did.
This movie, in my opinion, is nearly flawless. Every moment has been planned to make the same point - change sucks. Especially when you’re a teenager. Even more so when you’re a teenager with trauma.
