Random Pikmin 4 Thoughts

Ya know, in collecting most of the character trivia in Pikmin 4, I've really come to appreciate how miserable a lot of the castaways really are. I mean, you have to wonder what kinds of people would even be attracted to an uncharted planet, and the answer is a lot of miserable people.

Granted, I wouldn't say that they're in the majority: the majority are there for research and/or monetary gain, but a good chunk of them are there because they saw the planet as a beacon of hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Some are trying to save failing businesses, some are trying to save dying planets, some of them are just depressed and are looking for inspiration.

And all of them failed.

Had it not been for the Rescue Corps, every single one of them would have died and/or been turned into a leafling.

But I think the castaway Patch puts it best, it doesn't matter that he had to be rescued by someone else to "win" against the planet's dangers because either way he still survived. In a way, I think it's a message about allowing yourself to be helped by others, or rather that you can be the help that others need.

I'd say one of the major themes of the game is that no one can really survive on their own. Shepherd ponders on this in her diary, most of the castaways came in groups or pairs.

The Pokemon HOME app limiting random features and information to either the mobile or console versions is SO clunky and annoying.

My goal: to check which of my favorite Pokemon and shinies stored in HOME don't have the Paldea Champion Ribbon yet, so I can bring those into Scarlet and get it for them. But! You can only view what ribbons a Pokemon has on the mobile version of the software! And you can't move Pokemon to your switch games from mobile!!! So you have to:

quit out of the console app, if you opened it already because you thought this would be a relatively simple task

open the app on mobile

manually document which Pokemon don't have the ribbon- like, on a piece of paper or something

close the mobile app (you can't have both versions of the app open simultaneously)

open the app on console

move them from HOME into Scarlet, referring to aforementioned list

Now you might say "There is a custom tag feature in Pokemon HOME! You could apply a tag to the Pokemon you plan to move instead of making a physical note on a piece of paper!" But unfortunately, the only aspect of the tag you can see on the console version is the color- the name of the tag isn't visible. and I'm already using every color of tag available

(also: you can only make and apply tags on mobile. other mobile exclusive things: wonder trade and gts, viewing 90% of achievements, viewing models, switching between a pokemon's stats for different games it can go in without switching what game you're planning on moving things between)

one thing i think the fandom fails to acknowledge is lestat's racism. like, no, he does literally think black are beneath him. he's not nazi racist, he's just regular racist. like in the way he refuses to try to see how race very much has an impact in the way louis lives. he just assumes that as a vampire, he's beyond that. and refusing to acknowledge that doesn't just make him a shitty boyfriend, it's racist. bc race literally affects every aspect of a person's life. it's racist the same way those 'color-blind' people are racist.

I downloaded some circle-glasses recolours and hghghh they look so good! Closer every day to his final details! Getting ever closer!

Edgar too! I made him a custom hair with a lighter undercut - I’m mostly happy with it, probably could’ve shifted it a shade closer to his skintone but the texturing was weird no matter what :P And his stripey shirt! I wish Body Shop didn’t have that hands-on-hips pose lol, it looks so much better in-game, but that’s all the better :)

While it’s obviously canon that Chris has an inferiority complex to Wyatt, I think that Melinda also has a complex relationship with being “Wyatt’s sister” and how she’s viewed through that lens. It’s definitely not the same thing at all, but I do think that it’s definitely a factor for her relationship with Wyatt and the magical community as well. 

With that said, I don’t necessarily think that Wyatt really gets Chris or Mel’s issues with it, but I do think that he’s at least aware of them. There are a lot of italics in that sentence, but my main thought is that Wyatt has, at the very least, the knowledge that both of his siblings dislike the way that they’re perceived or seen through/as their relationship to him.

Which is why I think that one of the fastest ways to get Wyatt to like you, beyond just the immediate surface level, is to flip the script to prioritize Chris/Mel respectively. Like Bianca meets Wyatt and just goes, so you’re Chris’s brother and Wyatt is immediately like. I like her :)

There are some books that are just BETTER if you go through them with a pencil and underline the shit out of tiny details, and honestly if anyone found Hogg's 'Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner' difficult to get into, I highly encourage you to give it another go and give yourself a license to extensively research & annotate every little bit
