My OC Gloria and the comic I never have time for.

A few years ago my friend Glucifer and I came up with an idea for a new comic. It would be set in Yeld, the same setting as my comic Modest Medusa and my TTRPG The Magical Land of Yeld. It would be about a young woman (Gloria) who finds her way to that fantasy world from our world, and likes it so much she decides to stay there. And even becomes a Vampire!

The key to Gloria is that she's both a nerd and a huge pervert. She's the kind of person who spends all of her money on really explicit furry commissions. She writes really questionable fanfic. All her favorite artists are lewd artists. She really wants to tell you about her favorite obscure JRPG, but mostly just teh non-canon ships. She has no real social skills at all. Shes always a little sweaty. When she comes to Yeld and learns about the sexy evil Vampire Prince that rules the magical land and she immediately starts shipping him with everyone. She starts trying to get the people of Yeld to write lewd fanfics about their despotic Vampire ruler. She's fangirls out! Gloria eventually kind of sort of figures out that the Prince is EVIL, and that you really shouldn't be the #1 fan of an evil dude, no matter how sexy his lips are. Thanks to the influence of her friend (and eventual GF) Tam she eventually mostly gives up her one woman Prince Dragul fandom.

Gloria first appeared as a gag character in some Patreon material for the Yeld TTRPG as Prince Dragul's #1 fan. My goal is to eventually do a full comic series about Gloria and Tam (called Vampire Girlfriends in Yeld). More art! Gloria's full Vampire costume.

Tam when she first arrives in Yeld as a college student. She's a graphic design major with a secret blog where she sketches cute girls. She has a secret crush on Gloria (who looks like a cute girl, from a distance). Gloria forces her to draw horrible, horrible things. And then Tam in her whole Vampire warrior outfit (which Gloria picked out. The ring on the neck is so Gloria can pull her down for kisses).

One of the rough layout pages I did as a test. I HOPE to be able to start the series next year. Maybe as a series of short comics that eventually tell a longer story? Glucifer and I keep brainstorming new ideas. We have so much material.

In honor of Derek's birthday being yesterday -- can we hear about Cerise & Derek?

*inhale* DEREK MY BOI I FAILED U I FORGOT TO DRAW SOMETHING FOR YOUR BIRDYYYYY NAAAAAAAAAUR

I made a post once with tons of fun facts and like, a sort of large plan on how they must have liked each other when they were young (here)

But now let’s focus on some details of their actual show of affection.

Cerise is a hugging person, when she doesn’t talk she compensates with physical touch if comfortable enough and Derek is the first victim.

Holding hand, hugs, cuddling, arm pat, hair brushing you name it.

-Despite being taller in step 2, Cerise constantly hides behind him. (She asked for no pickle), which lead to comicly absurd situation where Derek try to be the brave one and cerise just look behind him.

This doesn’t work anymore in step 4, not only he’s now taller but also bigger, and she dosen’t need to try to be hidden now.

Despite not having seen each other in a while, some habits come back fast, and here goes holding hands again.

Right at the bus station, after she ran out to hug him tightly, they walked hand in hand as if 5 years didn’t stand between them.

-Cerise is scared of heights to the point she doesn’t go on the balcony but still hops on the Ferris to have a moment with derek.

-Early bird vs needs 30 min to wake up.

Derek is all « rise and shine, wake up sleepy head the earth says hello :D » type of person. He had time to go to the gym, go grocery shopping, take a shower, and make breakfast, Cerise woke up 10 min ago and her brain was loading it’s function on the sofa, she needed 20 more minutes.

The first night they spend in the same bed Derek wakes up early as always and here goes the hardest morning he ever had: don’t wake up the orange cat sharing your bed.

-They both have different dinner to go with each other which mean they are both in the kitchen at the same and it offers some sweet moments.

-lazy game nights where they just replay games they used to play when they were 13.

-Idk if you see the Reddit post about a guy leveling up his gf catching ability by tossing her random stuff constantly, derek would do that

-They celebrate the small victory of figuring out their life. Did your portfolio get accepted? Going out eating with the family.

-The ultimate siblings reunion- Liz takes her role as the oldest very seriously

(It's what it sounds like, couples paint each other and film it to show their reactions) (unfortunately I've seen a lot of sad cishet ones where the guy paints his gf or wife really badly, like intentionally, where the gf/wife looks like a monster so I need some actual nice ones to feel better and thought I'd ask about your ocs)

Awww that sounds so cute! (though it really sucks about the sad cishet ones, I don't know why you'd want to paint your partner badly on purpose, that's just mean and awful :( )

I'm just gonna answer this for the couples you know I think, just for simplicity's sake

Rae: Isn't that much of an artist, but she'd do her best. It's not fantastic quality but it's really clear that she tried to get all the details (especially in his eyes because she loves his eyes). I think she'd either just stick to drawing a bust of him just to make sure it's manageable, or would try something ambitious like him with his wings wrapped around her. Warren: Refined upbringing... I'm sure he's taken some art classes, not to mention his mom liked to paint, so he knows how to paint. He hasn't done it in years so it's a bit of a slow start, but once he finds his rhythm he actually makes something really beautiful. It has Rae crying a little when he shows it to her (but happy tears of course)

Robin: She's more of a music person than a 2D art person, so her solution is to paint a bunch of wiggly stripes in shades of blue and silver and say "it's you at superspeed" - kinda cheating, but it makes Peter laugh. Peter: Tries his best... that's about all he can say. He tried to paint her singing onstage for Carmen since that's how they met, but it's a little lopsided and goofy since he's not the best painter. It's not intentionally bad, he's just not an art guy, so he and Robin just laugh together when he shows her.

Madison: Would probably opt to sketch him rather than painting him (she's better at sketching, it was one of her hobbies to pass the time out in the woods), and would actually draw a really accurate sketch of Alex. He's very impressed (and it makes him a little embarrassed about his own drawing, honestly) Alex: Isn't a great artist, so he kinda just stuck to the key details - plus, as we both know, she's kinda hard to draw. Madison thinks it's sweet no matter how it turns out though, he could have drawn a stick figure and she'd still think it was sweet that he tried.

Jasper: Tries to draw the time the two of them kissed across the railing at Jasper's derby bout... Kyle: Ends up, by total coincidence, drawing the same exact moment, since it's also his favorite kiss that they've had. Jasper's is more cartoony and Kyle's is stuck in that vague zone of "past the anime character stage but not quite the right proportions yet" but they were both so surprised to flip it and reveal the exact same moment that neither of them are really paying attention to the quality of the paintings.

Prometheus and Corinthian: I feel like as dreams they'd probably have some kind of like... photographic art thing? I mean, they are themselves artistic creations, in a way, and they're not exactly human.... I guess what I'm saying is they'd both make realistic paintings of the other, and though they'd both find it sweet they also wouldn't quite understand the point of it... it's more of a human trend, I think.

Indie: Also opts to draw him rather than paint him (maybe with pastels or colored pencils, and she'd play with a fun color scheme), since she already enjoys drawing. It comes out really clean and accurate, and Hux is both impressed and maybe a little overwhelmed because I can't imagine anyone's paid enough attention to draw him before he met Indie. Hux: I also feel like he knows how to sketch a bit (admittedly this is a headcanon I latched onto from a fic I read, but still), though he's probably rusty since he hasn't drawn since he was a teenager. Indie kinda tries to brush it aside when he shows her, saying he's biased and she definitely doesn't look as nice as what he drew, but he insists that it's how he sees her. I mean, we already knew he's completely smitten for her.

Interview with Half Shy (the songwriter of “Monster”)

For the last few months, I’ve been collecting information for a second edition of Exploring the Land of Ooo that will also cover the production of Distant Lands. This means that I’ve started to look into the new songs that we have been graced with this year, and this of course includes “Monster,” the beautiful track from the masterpiece that is “Obsidian”. And so I reached out to the song’s writer, Half Shy, who was kind enough to chat with me via email about the songwriting process!

In many ways, Half Shy is living the creative Adventure Time fan’s dream: She got asked by Adam Muto himself to write a song for “Obsidian” after he heard her music through Bandcamp! (I’ve dabbled in fan music before, and the fact that someone from the show might listen to it just blows my mind.) What an opportunity; I am so excited for her!

Since a second edition of my book won’t be coming out until after all the Distant Lands episodes air, I thought it would be best to share my Half Shy interview now. Read on for the fascinating behind the scenes story of how Half Shy and “Monster” came to be..

GunterFan: What is your origin story? How did you get involved in music, and how did the Half Shy project come to be?

Half Shy: I’ve been making music pretty quietly since I was in high school with a keyboard and guitar. I played one or two shows a year after college when I could find a friend or my brother to get up on stage with me, but I don’t really have that performer gene in me naturally. I get too much in my head and forget what the lyrics are to the song I wrote, or what the next chord is. Total brain freeze. So that whole experience is a bit of a mental drain. It’s something I think I’d like to dig into and figure out, but right now I’m really enjoying the time writing.

Even playing a song for my friends I still get pretty nervous. That’s where the name Half Shy comes from. I’ve always been interested in making things that by their nature draw a bit of a spotlight, but at the same time, I am just really quite nervous about the attention.

I recorded my first songs under my old name Hey V Kay in my bedroom and started putting them up online one at a time. When I got enough I thought about packaging it up into an album, but then got really distracted by learning how to fix up motorcycles and going to automotive tech school. When I eventually got back around to it I named the album Gut Wrenching.

After a few years I realized that I didn’t want the day-in-day-out life of a mechanic, I just wanted to know how to fix cars for myself and to have that knowledge in my back pocket. I got back into making music but grew frustrated at the process of writing and recording songs. I felt like I wasn’t able to capture the ideas I had in my head. Like trying to draw on your computer with a mouse. Doable, but it’s not going to come out like you’d hoped.

So these last couple of years I’ve focused more on learning the technical aspect of it, from the initial ideas and lyrics, to the recording and mixing. During that process I put out Bedroom Visionaries, and while writing I happened upon the name Half Shy in an old Thesaurus which felt instantly right. Learning all of that has been fun, I even went as far as to create my own book to solidify a daily writing routine (lyricworkbook.com). All that has been a bit of a tangent from actually making much music though. I should be getting my books in December from the press so I’m really looking forward to getting back into making more music instead of dealing with printing presses, setting up websites, and sourcing ribbon suppliers.

GF: What is the story behind "Monster"? How did the show get in contact with you?

HS: I keep a log of “Song Starters” with neat things I’ve heard in the world, and I would look through it every now and then and notice just how many came from Adventure Time. Eventually I thought well, I have to make a song about this show that just keeps breaking my heart. It was around the time I was nearly done with the first [Adventure Time-inspired] song “In My Element” that I got an email from Bandcamp saying “someone bought your album (Bedroom Visionaries).”

I get maybe one or two of these a month at most so I love to go in and say hi to the person and say thanks, be curious about who they are, [and] what they’re all about. Turns out it was Adam Muto, the executive producer of the show. (I asked and he has no idea how he happened upon my stuff. He guessed that I must have tagged something #adventuretime and he just happened to see it.) So I sent him an email saying, “Hey wow thanks for checking out my tunes. Also... holy crap you’ve made the best show I have ever seen in my life.” [I] played it real cool like. After finishing up writing my second [Adventure Time-inspired] song “Betty” I couldn’t help but fangirl real hard [and I sent him another message saying], “I’m sorry this is probably awkward, but I really love your show and I wrote these songs about it.” He was incredibly kind and shared them with his Twitter Universe, and a while after that I got a random email from him saying basically, “Hey, I’m working on this thing I can’t talk about, would you be interested?” I was like… well you know I’m pretty busy working at a sign shop so I’m gonna have to pass on this once in a lifetime opportunity (J/K. Obviously I fan-girl squealed and said yes immediately).

We chatted a bit about what the project was going to be and the direction. He mentioned there [would be] two Marceline songs in the special, [and he asked if I] would I be interested in giving the love song a try? Trying real hard to suppress my instant imposter syndrome I was like, “Yea, totally I’d be into giving that a shot!” So I read through the story and loved the idea of the dragon mirrored in Marceline, thinking through how they’ve both built up a protective shell, how she grew tough for a reason, but now she can open up and be vulnerable with PB.

From there I wrote the initial demo with the first two verses mostly intact and we went back and forth a few times editing it down into the final version. I recorded the final parts for the show in my little home studio in Seattle.

GS: When you were writing the song, what emotions, thoughts, or ideas were you channeling? Was there any sort of memory of event that you were trying to artistically "catch" or "recreate" with the lyrics or music?

HS: As far as channeling an emotion, generally I’d say just the experience of existing as a human. It can be so hard to open up and be vulnerable. I can remember that feeling even as a young kid—getting really excited about something and having someone completely trash it or look at you like, “Why are you so interested in that? It’s dumb.” [It causes us to grow] a little more weary to share ourselves because we know that hurt and embarrassment. The pain of being misunderstood is something I think a lot of us can relate to. Then having to decide whether to keep sharing those vulnerable parts of yourself or think, “They’re just not going to get it, I’m going to get hurt, so why bother?” and then stop putting yourself out there. You lose a lot with that thick armor though. You might feel protected, but you’re not feeling a whole lot of anything else other than the weight and chafing of it (I had a whole lot of armor-related metaphors that I didn't end up using.).

I struggle with this in songwriting too. I’m not the bolt-of-lightning type. There are pages and pages of cliches, total garbage, bad jokes, and cheesy lines that I have to get through in order to get to something that I am excited to put out there into the world: “Here I did this thing, I know it’s a little (this or that), but I made it... What do you think?” It’s hard to open yourself up to hearing the other end of that question.

I filled about 5 little pocket notebooks just thinking through the story, ideas, and trying to get this song right. I wanted it to feel familiar and honor the past songs of the show ([e.g.,] using the ukulele and referencing a few of the familiar chords from “I’m Just Your Problem”) but also be pretty open and vulnerable and different for [Marceline]. [I wanted to] show that she’s going through some tough emotions but also figuring herself out and growing.

GF: I feel like “Monster” is, at its core, an ode to the “Bubbline” ship. How do you feel about your song being intimately connected to one of the most famous LGBTQ+ relationships in animation? Do you have any general thoughts on Marcy and PB, Bubbline, etc.?

HS: Oh, I’m a total fan girl of Bubbline. The whole story of how Rebecca Sugar and Muto slowly morphed it into this deeper relationship is just great. As a part of the LGBTQ community myself it really means so much to see the representation of characters like yourself portrayed in an intelligent way. Growing up I was too young to fully understand what was going on but I saw Ellen getting cancelled, and [I] heard people around me saying they’d never watch her show again after she came out. That stuff sinks in as a kid and so to have these characters who are not only intelligent, but funny, complex, and unapologetically strong who also happen to be queer is really great. I love that the story here isn’t about their orientation, but that they’re people struggling with how to be open and vulnerable in a relationship.

It feels like something sci-fi and animated shows do so well—to show that ridiculousness of limiting who a person should and shouldn’t love. Marceline is a 1000+ year old half-demon/vampire and PB was born from the Mothergum of an apocalyptic radioactive world, but you’re going to get hung up on them loving each other? It sort of brings it into perspective in a really interesting way.

GF: Do you have any other thoughts about the experience that you'd like to share?

HS: Just how lucky, thankful, and honored I feel to be a part of my favorite show, writing a song for one of my favorite characters. It’s also incredibly cool how the people on the show are so willing to connect and collaborate with their fandom. Everyone [on the production crew] was very open and a real joy to work with.

GOING ON A HIATUS

Thanks to everyone who's taken the time out to read my posts and has enjoyed it so far. It's really been fun and entertaining exchanging thoughts and having these much deeper ship discussions.

I thought this issue was gonna go away but I woke up this morning to more people messaging me about finding my last video analysis on several other platforms without appropriate credit.

But that's not disturbing. The disturbing part is the people sliding into people's DM'S on other platforms to get them to take down my video because they don't want people sharing my content on other platforms as they believe it would only make my blog popular.

For those worried about this whole credit business, thanks for showing this much concern for me? I really appreciate the love and concern if it's from a genuine place of concern. Thank you...

I think some of you already know this by now or might have figured it out, I am a law student, I am very much well aware what is and what isn't within my rights? Lol

I honestly didn't see this whole credit thingy as a big deal. It's not. Not to me. Lol. I repost people's photos without credit too all the time. Often, it's because I don't know who to credit and most time my lazy ass just forgets to. Lol. I think it's normal? It's inconsequential I mean.

The videos I use are usually often water marked by the appropriate owners so I don't go through the hustle of figuring this whole credit business out. If I should decide to come back here again I will check that habit of mine?

While this whole credit business is not a big deal to me, malicious slander and defamation to my character is and I don't take it lightly.

It has been brought to my attention that some Jikookers from Tumblr have since been sliding into people's DM's on other platforms asking them to take down my video and or remove the credit they give to my post.

They are telling people I am problematic, calling me the Taekook Lives of the Jikook community. That I have been spreading lies about Jikook, that the Jikook Tumblr community hates me or something like that and to further caricaturize me and make me appear more evil in order to get people to turn on me and hate me, they make up the most ridiculous lies about me claiming that I believe a notorious serial killer is innocent.

Now I have since deleted my YT account because I don't want my colleagues to find out I am into shipping too lol- shipping is a guilty pleasure of mine and I know how this fandom works unfortunately. I've been a silent part of it since 2014. I mean it's started already. The Doxing and shit.

The original post under which these replies are from couldn't save sadly as my account has been deleted but you can see from my notifications the general feel of what my interests outside shipping looks like.

I am interested in a myriad of topics, from literature, Aliens, writing, Harry Potter, history, activism, advocacy, philosophy, law, politics, NASA, and mystery and murder among other things.

My quora is mostly filled with notifications from my Book community and True crime community and often I do share my thoughts and answer questions with regards to the psychology of murderers, legal evidence, notorious villains in literature- well I guess now you know the kind of lawyer I want to be if and when I'm able to complete law school.

But what has my interest in these topics got to do with Jikook and shipping please?? How does this prove I hate Jikook and spread lies about them?

This Kookie Min Monsta person slipped into someone's DMS and asked the person who had put up my video analysis to take it down or discredit me because to her I am problematic. She is not the only one.

You want so bad to paint me black- no pun intended just to win an argument? You claim I am the evil malicious person here but I am not the one sliding into people's dms trying to take credit away from people for their hardwork, spreading hate and negative energy, making things up to manipulate people's perception of others and get them to hate and turn on them- and all because of A SHIP? Damn. This is pathetic.

Who died and made you the gatekeeper of the jikook shipping community? Honestly antics like these don't work on me try again.

I made a video commentary on my Booktube YT account- yes I am part of the book YouTube community as well sue me or better still slip into their inboxes and tell them I voted for Trump therefore I hate chipmunks.

The commentary I made on YT months ago was when I was in the highs of finding a new passion and it was on Ann Rule's book, The Stranger Besides Me- a true crime novel on Ted Bundy which I found so poorly written that at the end of the book it left with me wondering whether or not Ted Bundy was guilty at all!

The Author's writing style which deviates from most writing styles of True Crime novels I have read gave me trust issues as I stated in the video. It felt more as if she was writing a made up fictional novel than an actual True Crime novel but because she knew Ted Bundy in person she made it seem as if we just had to believe her account.

Then there was this whole thing about the police not being able to match the DNA samples taken from his rape victims, to his own Semen because his Semen was DNAless- in lay man's terms. I'll spare you the technicalities involved.

As I stated in that video, I do believe Ted Bundy was guilty but I do not have much faith in the Judicial system, or criminal procedures or even the Author of that book- a sentiment most people within the true crime community share as well. We just had differing views on whether the writer's style took away from the narrative and waters down on the extent of Bundy's guilt.

We had a Similar conversation about Chris Watt. If the community I was engaging in didn't have a problem with my commentary why do you? Please don't meddle in things you know nothing about. It's embarrassing.

The conversation about whether or not Ted Bundy is innocent is moot but a philosophical one. It has nothing to do with Ted Bundy's guilt but more so the criminal procedures involved in his case and the different accounts that exists surrounding his case.

He was electrocuted, he confessed to his crimes no damn person with brains would think or assume he is innocent and I never said anything of that nature drew any conclusions to that effect.

Besides, I moved on from Ted Bundy a long time ago. Now I am into the Serial Killer who writes death poems and signs it off with drawings of the size of his dick at his crime scenes- mind your own business please or don't and let's have an intellectual discourse about him? Lmho.

I am also into cat memes if you care to know and have a whole IG dedicated to cat memes. I believe human beings are the most dumbest species in all the galaxies and when the Aliens arrive I am snitching.

When my mind is at rest, I often wonder if Aliens have masculinity complex and if they do whether or not their masculinity is contingent on the size of their dicks or whether they have to engage in a battle to the death with an alien grizzly bear to determine who is the man.

I love BTS memes too- a little too much and often end up debating over the internet with random people over whether BTS memes are funnier than cat memes- I'm weird, true. But how does all of that make me a bad person?

It's crazy how these people can go on these other platforms to ask people to take down the credits to my posts as well as my posts itself but can't ask people who run to these other platforms with misinterpretations of my work to take those down.

Instead they come on here to call me out for people's interpretations of my work?? It doesn't work that way. You are the author of your own opinion and interpretation of other people's work. You don't call out the original author for someone's opinion of their work. If that were so I would be emailing Stephanie Meyer for Anna Todd and her After series. Get some education.

I have since blocked this person and others whose Tumblr I have been able to find thanks to all those that's helped me finding them on here.

My gf also tried reaching out to the persons who shared my post after we realised this was becoming an issue and had asked them to credit her or my blog- but honestly I don't care about that yet she won't give it a rest. Lol. My ride or die this one. Sigh.

However, we realized soon that this is not about 'stealing' credit- can't call someone out for not giving credit when I suck at that myself. Lol.

This is about people's malicious intentions and their attempts to silence me and take away my right to freedom of expression however way that they can. This is wrong and evil.

I honestly don't care for all these ship politics these people are engaged in. I've had enough intelligent conversations to know the distinction between arguments that flows from bruised egos and actual conversations around a subject matter.

This whole I am right, she is wrong politics... y'all get that the point of having an opinion is not to be right, right? We all cant have the same perspective and you can't call someone a liar for holding views that is different from yours. That is a bizarre mentality to have.

As I stated in my post, that content I made was a rebuttal to the Taekook theories running around on the internet alleging JK glared at Tae when he pulled on his shoulder because he was jealous Tae and Jin were having fun behind him. He wasn't. He was worried Tae was gonna expose him and JM holding hands behind Suga.

If you don't think they were holding hands then Taekookers were right and his reaction was because he was Jealous of Taejin I guess...

But thats your truth. That's not my truth. I don't believe Taekook is real. JK isn't jealous of Taejin he is not Twelve- but then again he was sneaking around behind Suga holding his boyfriend's hands so I guess he is twelve? Lol. Jikook!

But please stop the evil malicious attacks and seek immediate help. There is such a thing as right and wrong and this is just plain wrong. Your Karma and chakra are in the negative nodes and you need to fix it. It is not funny anymore.

I don't hate people because of our differences in thoughts, beliefs, opinions. There's always room for dissenting opinions in every sphere. At the very least, we can agree to disagree and shake on it. But You can't make up shit about people just to prove your opinion is right and their opinions and views which differ from yours are 'wrong.

I am not a victim though, and they are not bullies, psst. They are just vile pathetic human beings exposing the greens of their insides. What you do says more about who you are as a person and human being. And this is who they are.

Just be a nice decent human being. That's what this world needs. Fix whatever is broken inside of you and free your mind and spirit. Hate is never the answer.

I'm going to be away for a while because I have studies, work and other interests I want to pursue at the moment- it's just my AADD flaring up so if you see me henceforth raving about Nana at least you'd know why. Lol. She's wrecking my Jimin bias. Lmho.

Kokichi’s laying on the couch, half-watching cartoons when Kaito steps through the door, a massive bouquet of purple, black, and white flowers held triumphantly in his hands. He marches straight to the couch, shoving it in Kokichi’s line of sight.

“Kai-chan,” Kokichi says, tilting his head to the side. “What are you doing?”

“Just like you to forget, huh,” Kaito says, grin firmly plastered on his face. He waves the flowers gently so the petals don’t fall off. “Happy anniversary, Kokichi. Don’t worry, I know how you can make it up to me.”

Kokichi blinks. “Why should I have to make up for you getting our anniversary wrong?”

The grin slides off slowly. A year ago, Kaito would’ve accused him of lying, but a lot has changed over the last year. He’s starting to learn Kokichi’s tells. They’re subtle, but once he got the hang of them, easy to spot. An especially stiff blink, a question where they should be a statement, the movements of his hands - Ouma Kokichi is a puzzle, and Kaito has at least figured out the border.

“I didn’t get it wrong,” Kaito huffs, setting the flowers down on the table. “September 12th! That’s our anniversary!” He fumbles through his pocket, searching for his phone and then through his notes, turning it to Kokichi to show one that simply says anniversary - sept. 12. “See, look, I wrote it down!”

Kokichi rolls his eyes, digging his own phone out to share a similar note - only this one says Momota-chan is mine, october 4th. “I can’t believe you would lie to yourself like that, Kai-chan!”

“You’re the one lying!” Kaito says, folding his arms. “That’s almost a whole month later! Obviously the earlier date is the right one.” He finishes his statement with a decisive nod.

“That one was just a joke, though.” Kokichi reaches out towards the flowers, letting his fingertips graze the petals of a rose. “You’ll just have to buy me flowers again later!”

“What the hell do you mean, a joke?”

Kokichi looks up at Kaito, expression a carefully cultivated emptiness that quickly disappears in favor of a beaming smile. “You know, a lie! I mean, that was only your first confession! It takes three to break the curse and turn me into a prince. So our real anniversary is October 4th!”

“I -” Kaito starts, then closes his mouth. He furrows his eyebrows, trying to parse through Kokichi’s bullshit to find the true meaning. “You thought my confession was a lie?”

“You’re being so boring,” Kokichi complains, rolling over so he faces the ceiling. “Of course it was! First confessions always are.”

September 12th had been the first time Kaito expressed his feelings to Kokichi. It had not been the smoothest confession, but Kokichi’s response had seemed practically rehearsed. “Was your confession a lie?”

Kokichi laughs, sharp and piercing. “That wasn’t my first confession, silly! I was probably onnn...I think that was my fifth!”

He’s still beaming up at Kaito, placing his hands behind his head in that too-carefree way Kaito is familiar with. He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.

“What the hell do you mean?”

“Weeeelll,” Kokichi says, drawing out the word, “I think my first was right after we woke up, and I said I was happy to see you! And then during group therapy, a couple months later, when I said you weren’t boring!”

Kaito wishes his life was a movie, so he could rewind and watch the last two years over again. He thinks back to other moments like the ones Kokichi already mentioned - the rooftop conversation four months after they’d woken up, where Kokichi had held his hand and told him the stars looked especially pretty that night. The conversation they’d had in the library two months later, where Kokichi had asked Kaito what kind of books he liked and checked out the cheesy sci-fi novel Kaito confessed to loving. The movie night a month before they made things official (or, at least when Kaito thought they’d made things official) where Kokichi argued with Kaito about the best genre only to let Kaito pick the movie anyway, and then spent the whole time stealing his popcorn.

“I’m an idiot,” Kaito says, smacking his forehead with his hand as he drops onto the couch, and Kokichi cheerfully agrees as he shoves his feet onto Kaito’s lap. “Shut up. What I mean is - I didn’t understand, back then.” Kokichi’s still sprawled across the couch in a position that should be wildly uncomfortable, but he’s looking at Kaito at least. “You are the most incomprehensible person I’ve ever met. You know that, right?”

“Glad to hear I’m achieving my goals.”

“But I should’ve listened,” Kaito says.

Kokichi laughs, short and without his usual venom. Genuine, for once. Slowly sitting up, he reaches over to pat Kaito’s knee. “It’s okay, Kai-chan. Not everyone can be as smart as me.”

“Our anniversary is still September 12th, though. I meant it when I confessed, and you meant your confession, so that’s our anniversary.”

“Hmm. Well, you can be wrong if you want.”

“I mean, we could also just have two anniversaries,” Kaito suggests, giving Ouma a sly grin. “Let everyone else decide what the real one is.”

Ouma’s eyes are shining as he leans in close to Kaito. “You wanna lie to our dear beloved classmates?”

“Think of it as an anniversary presen- nmmf!” He doesn’t get to finish his sentence before Kokichi grabs a fistful of his shirt and pulls him close, kissing him hard.

“I love you,” Kokichi says, breathless, stars in his eyes and Kaito’s chapstick stuck to his lips.

“That the truth?” Kaito asks, pulling him back in for another round of kissing, planting them on his face like stars in the sky. Kokichi laughs, soft and gentle, as Kaito kisses his eyelid.

“I’d never lie to you,” Kokichi says, between giggles.

“You said the first confession doesn’t count,” Kaito reminds him, threading fingers through Kokichi’s hair.

“I love you,” he whispers. Kaito pauses, hand still cradling Kokichi’s head. “Kai-chan. Kaito. ” He leans in for another kiss, teeth grazing Kaito’s lip when they pull back. “I love you. And our anniversary is October 4th.”

“I hate you so fucking much,” Kaito says as he bursts into laughter.

“Lies aren’t a good look, Kai-chan.” Kokichi leans back, sitting on his heels. “No more kisses til you tell the truth.”

“I love you,” Kaito says, and then again for good meason, and then a third time just to be certain, then a fourth just for fun. “I love you, I love you, I love you, I l-” Kokichi doesn’t let him finish the fifth.

“If this is how our second anniversary goes, I might just be okay with having two,” Kaito admits.

YGO Questionnaire Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

So, my gf/bf @howaboutalittlehelpneos tagged me to do this again a... good long while ago, and I had wanted to wait until I'd finished my GX rewatch before trying this again. But ouch oof I accidentally also got through all of 5Ds again before getting to this lol

But the 5Ds rewatch definitely reshaped a lot of my thoughts, so... cracks knuckles. This won't be spoiler free, fair warning~

Favorite Series: ugh the formatting killed my original essay on this but okay GX and 5Ds are pretty tied in my book, now-- I love them equally, but in different ways! GX fulfills my love for subversive coming-of-age stories with a heartwarming, humorous, and also soulcrushing touch, and I love how each season brings a new story and new characters-- it's like reading installments of a novel series, and I think the formatting works wonders for it as a whole. It has some absolutely phenomenal character writing, too-- even the characters I dislike are ones I can appreciate for what they introduce to the story! And honestly, not enough people give the first two seasons of GX the credit it deserves: they're half the charm, really. How are you going to feel the full impact of the heartbreaking content in seasons 3 and 4 if you aren't properly attached to the characters?

But on 5Ds's side of things... it fulfills my love for stories with time loops, found family, human nature, and of course, love and death and how they intertwine. I love how the leading characters are just a bunch of broken kids from broken circumstances who all find a home with each other, and of course, how it highlights class disparity and how fucked up the prison/"justice" systems are. Yea, sure, maybe it underwent executive meddling and all, but I genuinely love it for what it is and I wish more people appreciated it... my only problem with 5Ds is the untwist with Z-ONE and then the ending s m h I adore it overall and I could go off for a long while on it. Overall, these are my two instinctive recommendations for anyone getting into Yugioh!

(look at these boys they're so important) Favorite Protagonist: Oh, believe me, absolutely nothing has changed here-- Yusei Fudo is and always will be my favorite protagonist, and my rewatch only solidified that.

I just... love him so much? He's seen so much hell in his life and carries so much guilt on his shoulders, but he still has room in his heart to believe in others and to believe that anyone can defy fate and find hope even at rock bottom. I love that he's initially introduced as this quiet, brooding figure when he really just turns out to be a huge softie who wears his heart on his sleeve half the time and wants to bring about change for Satellite and its people. Plus I just really love that his greatest flaw is something that would ordinarily be a positive trait-- he's Overly self-sacrificial, to the point where he's basically setting himself on fire to keep others warm, and that's not really framed as something Heroic

Just... he makes me so happy. I have two Yusei charms that I ordinarily keep on my keys (one was a gift from Zenzen) and they're a constant source of serotonin for me. He's Peak comfort character for me. Best protag in my book Favorite Rival: Same deal here-- still Manjoume!

While he spends a lot of the anime getting the good old damsel in distress treatment (getting suckered into a cult, getting knocked into a coma, becoming a zombie, getting fucking Killed, etc), I still think his character arc is really well-written overall and I only appreciated it even more when I watched GX again. I love the fact that he's got a soft heart he buries beneath the edgy facade, and that he's simultaneously really sharp and also kind of dense lol. He's just a fun character and watching how he evolves from episode one to episode one hundred eighty is such a satisfying journey.

Plus, props to him for being such a versatile duelist-- 50 wins in a row is HARD as is, let alone with a deck full of cards he just found laying around in the Arctic. Three ace monsters, three different archetypes... he's a really good duelist and I'm proud of him for it

Oh, but honestly, I don't really dislike any of the rivals-- I'm neutral towards Revolver and Reiji, but the remaining four (Kaiba, Manjoume, Jack, and Shark) compel me. yes I accidentally wound up liking Jack Atlas shhh Favorite BFF: Honestly, I really like most of the characters who fit this archetype-- Joey, Crow, Gongenzaka, Soulburner... I still lean a little bit more towards Joey, but I really appreciate all four of them. I'm gonna say Joey again, just because I find his evolution as a character the most compelling, but I appreciate the other three a lot. Soulburner has the best design though Favorite GFF: Oh absolutely still Aki, but I honestly... really love most female Yugioh characters? I'm assuming this is lead girls only, but like. I'm dumb and gay and I love Girls so this is naturally the most difficult one for me to answer lol

Aki just resonates with me the most because she's the prime example of how trauma doesn't always manifest in palatable ways-- when we first meet her, she's angry and lashes out at anyone and anything just because she wants the world to suffer in the same ways she's suffered, and then... we get to watch her grow from that, once she's free from Divine and able to heal the way she needs to heal. I know the second half of 5Ds didn't give her character the attention it deserved, but I'm still proud of her for winding up on the path she did-- seeing her channel her power and energy into wanting to heal and help others was just so good and was one of the few things I really Loved about the 5Ds ending.

oh, but like. Asuka Tenjoin and Aoi Zaizen are very close seconds for me!!! Aki just has a vice grip on my heart Favorite Villain: Okay, it's still technically Vector-- I think he's the most entertaining, well-written, and effective villain out of all of the ones we've seen so far, but... I also want to add Takuma Saiou and then all of Yliaster as honorable mentions?

As someone fond of tarot myself, I was naturally pretty intrigued by Saiou the first time I watched GX, but my attachment to him only grew the second time around where I actually got the chance to understand his character better. Plus, like... the visuals with him are fucking astounding and he's always so interesting to watch.

As for Yliaster, I just... really love how the big bad of 5Ds turned out to just essentially be a broken man desperate to save anyone and anything and three robotic reconstructions of the friends he'd lost. I still think the untwist with Z-ONE was stupid and I much prefer the idea of him and Yusei being the same person, but I'm still compelled by the other three-- well. Paradox less so, because we don't get a lot of Paradox lore, but. Aporia and Antinomy for sure.

Stardust is always going to be my favorite of all cards because it checks every box for me (my favorite YGO character's ace monster, space theme, what more could I want), but Aromaseraphy Rosemary has really become one of my aces in my best TCG deck! I'm still mastering irl plays, but I'm happy with my progress and I love my plant gang...

Favorite Episode: alright, here's where there's actually been a Lot of change, so...

Season 0: Episode 16: "Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis" -- The more I think about this one, the more I love it; there's a... lot of corruption in the medical industry, and I've seen a lot of it firsthand, so just. Seeing a corrupt doctor get what he deserved at the end was cathartic, in a way? Plus, a Jounouchi-centric episode is always a good time.

Duel Monsters: Episodes 96-97: "Darkness vs. Darkness/One Turn Kill" -- this hasn't changed, I still love seeing Marik and Bakura bitch at each other for two whole episodes LMAO

GX: Episode 152: "Activate Super-Fusion! Rainbow Neos" -- This one hasn't changed and it likely never will-- I take so much pride in seeing Judai push forward, past the fear and guilt he's carrying, all to save Johan... it's cathartic and I never get sick of watching it.

5Ds: sweats. still all of Crash Town, but also episodes 137-147-- the Ark Cradle is one of my favorite parts of 5Ds and one of my favorite YGO arcs period, and even though each duel is a fucking gut punch, I love the emotional intensity and weight in each episode... It hurts but in a mostly good way

Zexal: Episode 143: "The Aloof Duelist 'Nasch': The Destined Final Duel" -- this one hasn't changed! Still hurts, still love it, I still weep over Ryouga Shark Kamishiro on a daily basis

Arc-V: Episodes 81-82: "Our Respective Battlefields/The Ultimate Falcon VS The Black-Feathered Thunder" -- Okay, honestly, this was hard because I... genuinely. really don't like Arc-V very much at all lol (it's just not my cup of tea, but more power to those who do like it!), but I thought this duel was a lot of fun! Shun is my absolute favorite from Arc-V and I really like the friendship he struck up with Crow a lot, so here we are

VRAINS (so far): Episode 25-26: "Virus Deck Operation/Three Draws Leading to Hope" -- honestly I am so biased because I just really love Blue Angel and I loved seeing her get a well-deserved victory like this lol. I'm not done with VRAINS, so this is probably gonna change, but anytime Blue Angel or Soulburner are on screen, I'm happy

s6 theory

i know that skamfr is pretty much the epitome of lazy writing at this point so it’s kinda useless to come up with theories but at the same time it’s a good way to entertain myself. so. theory time and spoilers ahead

i want to talk about these pictures first and i just want to say in advance that both were posted by crew members on twitter and instagram respectively so pls don’t @ me about leaking stuff because that’s not the case lmao

anyway. those pictures are definitely from the same scene. it’s clear lola’s been spiraling for a while now but she will most probably hit rock bottom in ep5 in true skam fashion. this season has been pretty predictable for the most part so i guess we can expect another argument between lola and daphné/maya/papa lecomte which will make lola go out and get high again. i’m not even going to talk about the possibility of an OD here because i want to believe skamfr wouldn’t do that but at the same time i can totally see them going for that plot. either way, this party scene seems different, i think it will be a turning point in the season so it’s probably from ep5. that eliott picture was deleted from the trailer but i think it’s safe to say it’s from the same scene too. the bluish lighting, the room spinning... it looks like it’s shot from lola’s pov

ngl this whole thing looks a bit creepy but this is skamfr so i guess that doesn’t matter. eliott will probably play a bigger role in the second half of the season and it isn’t that hard to imagine why if you really think about it. things aren’t looking good for lola in ep4 already. she hates daphné and her dad again. she has no friends at school. maya will probably continue to ghost her this week and they might have some kind of drama in this ep or in ep5 (in, again, true skam fashion) and maya is her only connection to lamif too. so all in all she might find herself totally alone by the end of ep5 which could conveniently be a good time for eliott to reach out to her again

we know lola reached out to maya in ep4 when she wasn’t feeling well but if maya is ghosting her she’ll have to call someone else. she probably won’t try to call daphné but she does have one friend left and that’s benny. that’s how the benny reveal could happen if it’s indeed eliott. maybe she texts benny her location or shares a story/post on instagram from the party and eliott shows up all of a sudden at the bar. obviously there’s a chance eliott isn’t benny and he’s just there having fun with his uni friends or something. or maybe lola just straight up calls him since we saw them starting to bond in the video store clip and she might realize he’s the only person she can count on in that moment

when this photo was released a lot of us hoped this could be eliott pov but it might just be another eliott/lola scene. could be the day after that party. maybe eliott wants to make sure she gets home safely but lola doesn’t want to go back to daphné and her dad while she’s drunk/high and eliott is obviously not going to let her sleep at tour pleyel. so he might take her to his and lucas’ apartment and let her crash on their couch (but tbh part of me is still hoping this is an elu scene, maybe from a later ep when they talk about the whole lola mess. like a lundi 17h21 parallel)

i know eliott being benny could be a bit of a reach but i don’t want it to be daphné either, there’s enough drama between daphné and lola as it is. eliott being benny could also make their interactions seem slightly less creepy (but it will still be like 90% creepy to me). if eliott knows lola it would explain why he tries to not-so-subtly initiate conversations with her all the time to make sure she’s okay i guess. i posted my theory about eliott being benny on twitter a few weeks ago. if they want to draw parallels between lola and eliott it could be through MI and their different coping mechanisms. maybe eliott went through something similar, maybe he was in rehab once too and he signed up for some kind of virtual pen pal program to help other people

i would just like to point out how i came up with the concept of this virtual pen pal thing in april and then yesterday eliott posted about mary and max, a movie that’s basically about the main characters being pen pals. it’s also interesting how benny and lola had the exact same conversation at the beginning of that video store clip as lola and eliott did later when she walked in. obviously this could all be a red herring but i personally think them making daphné and benny message lola right after each other all the time is them trying to throw us off whereas eliott posting about mary and max is a clue, rather than a red herring

now, the cursed spoiler. we obviously don’t know the actual context yet besides that it’s for that school project eliott talked about in the video store clip and apparently it’s eliott going behind lucas’ back in some way. again. imagine how tired we are. i’ve been thinking about this and i could only come up with one possible version of this that wouldn’t make me dislike eliott and want to strangle the writers:

lola and eliott start hanging out more from ep6. they probably bond over movies, lola visits eliott at work a few times and he starts giving her movie recs. eliott could mention his project (which ISN’T polaris) to her again and ask her to help him, maybe because she seems interested in movies in general or maybe because he wants to distract her from her unhealthy coping mechanisms and that’s his way of helping her

david kept saying eliott is some kind of big brother figure this season so i guess lola could also talk to him about maya (especially if eliott is benny so she wouldn’t find it that hard to open up to him, considering they already kind of know each other). that would give eliott the perfect opportunity to play matchmaker. if maya is still ghosting lola, eliott could ask lamif to help him with the project too and that would bring maya and lola together again. lamif wouldn’t miss this chance to help urbex king otteli and besides, we can see max in the pic that was leaked by hippo so we do know they’ll be there

i’m not sure about the kiss but i really want to believe eliott will listen to lucas when he asks him not to do it. there’s at least another person standing behind max in the pic, holding the boom mic so that could be maya. maybe eliott writes the kiss out of the script but lola takes matters into her own hands and still goes for it because she wants to make maya jealous. i guess it could be their call your gf scene, skamfr seems to like elu/mayla parallels this season

this way the whole elu misunderstanding plot could still happen i guess and it wouldn’t be 100% eliott’s fault so yay... the kiss will definitely affect mayla too and they need time to resolve that so i guess we can expect this to happen in ep7 or ep8?

90% of this theory post could still work even if eliott isn’t benny or if it’s lola who wants to help eliott with the project and it’s her suggesting they get lamif involved. i guess it’s also a possibility that lola just starts hanging out more with eliott because she wants to run into maya at one of the urbex parties

so in conclusion i know this is probably not how things will go and i wasted my time writing this lmao but at least this version kinda makes sense for the characters i guess? i’m basically trying to salvage what i can at this point since they already messed up by even including the elu drama plot in the first place. anyway, s6 lost its real-time vibe so whatever happens i guess we can just pretend it’s not canon because it’s happening in a parallel universe and we can go back to rewatching s3 🤗
