Working on a welcome home animation and mighttttt take me a while

i saw a post saying boom was good bc it feels like it could be done with any doctor/companion duo and honestly that was one of the things i felt was wrong with it

#in a show with a title character that could be Literally Anyone and a companion sharing the lead that could be Literally Anyone #i value the little moments that set this duo apart from the rest. ESPECIALLY when it comes to returning writers like rtd/moff #fifteen and ruby felt a little too eleven/twelve and clara adjacent in boom. in both their dialogue and characterization #space babies also landed a little weird at first bc it lifted a bit from end of the world BUT the scenes that fifteen and ruby #had to themselves. like ruby getting covered in snot and fifteen laughing. or fifteen and ruby looking after the Space Babies #or fifteen going out of his way to save the monster bc that monster is the only one of its kind Just Like Him Fr #that stuff is so good and its also something we haven't seen from another nuwho doctor. the vulnerable bleeding-heart empathy #and a dynamic w a companion that is basically 'two troublemakers that just deeply love fun and adventure and getting into trouble together'#oh yeah and also the devil's chord was peak fiction because it touches on fifteen's renewed connection and love for humanity #and marries it to ruby being a musician and how music like any art is the expression of the human soul etc etc #WHAT MAKES A DOCTOR WHO STORY GOOD TO ME IS PARTLY HOW THE PREMISE TIES INTO THE DOCTOR AND COMPANION'S CHARACTERS #IT HAS TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS TAILOR MADE TO THEM. ELSE IT WONT LAND RIGHT TO ME #i hate the take that they should've saved wild blue yonder for a fifteen episode bc #the tension is hinged on how well the doctor/companion know each other. u have a level of it that u can ONLY get #with fourteen and donna who are two halves of a whole soul but have also spent much more time missing the other than knowing them #im not rewatching fifteen's eps rn until a week later when i can watch it w my qpp but #rn i still feel a stronger sense of fifteen and ruby's characters from all the rtd-written eps rather moffat #which like. i get that a lot of that is my personal dislike of moffat's writing style but still #dr who #15 era #dw spoilers

my timephoon hot take is that the episode was literally fine, it's the episodes that came AFTER it that fucked things up

#the final confrontation where louie and della say that shit to eachother? peak televesion #the next episodes shouldve. yk. resolved that #but by having the premise be “the entire family is goign to disneyland and leaving louie behind” uh...?#i get what they were going for but they fumbled so hard #timephoon introduces a lot of conflicts that the next episodes SHOULD have resolved #but they didn't. at least not well #like della and louie should've had a proper conversation #and also i dont think della was wrong for steppin in at the end of timephoon like that was warranted #her wording and execution? far from perfect #but she's trying #also. timphoon was fine yes but it could have been way better still #i would have preffered it if they went more in depth about the struggles of motherhood and how beakley and della both felt about it #give me beakley being vulnerable and opening up about how hard its been raising webby alone and how she GETS it #she gets not knowing what to do #she was a spy #she has no idea how to be soft and motherly but she's learned and she's trying and she did it alone #and she doesn't want della to be as alone as she was so she tries to help #but she's a certified grizzled ex spy so fuck if she knows how to be gentle about it #so it just makes della MORE insecur because beakley seems to have it all together #and i wish there was a scene where they could talk to eachother and beakley could admit that she doesn't #she's made mistakes she's fucked up but she's trying and aren't they all?#but yeah. for what timephoon was #it wasn't bad #but the following episodes fumbled #i forget if it was in timephoon or next erpisode were we got della telling louie to shape up or he couldn't be part of the family #like again that was BAD! BUT #it wuld have worked if the show adressed and had her learn from it #and showed that it wasnt out of malice its because she was doing her best!#but they didn't #they were...weird with it

Y'know I really feel like Harry and Dave's relationship goes highly unexplored which is a shame because there IS quite a bit to explore, ESPECIALLY if you care about shipping. But as the game stands I mean, they must be aware of each other. Harry in fact definitely knows about Dave. I don't think he'd tell the fucking weird rotten bunny his terrible boss brought in IS the number one threat against Freddy's since day 1 but even so. Dave I don't think would see Harry as much more than A Phoney™ though, which is always more of an obstacle and way less of a person. Which is usually opposite of how Jack sees his often sole employee. Like, you get what I mean? It's almost similar to 2 with the main opposing routes being Peter and Dave except the stakes are arguably way lower now.

depression is really weird actually wdym i spent 2.5 years of my life in bed

#and wdym that lifestyle changed so quickly into being out and about and an active member of the world??#very proud of myself #and i mean it wasn't that quick of a change #it was like 1.5 years primarily depression bedrotting with occasional school -> primarily depression bedrotting ->#primarily depression bedrotting with 3-9 hours of work weekly -> straight into 31+ hours school+9-12 hours work weekly #so there was somewhat of a gradual progression #but still #also wowza i wake up 7-7:30am every morning now. 1pm was an early wake up for a not so insignificant amount of time #i mean of all fundamental growth years to miss out on the ages like what 12/13-15 aren't too bad? they would suck in a different way if i #had been socially involved #anyway it's just. yea i'm proud of myself but it is a crazy lifestyle change #and even when i was deeply depressed in a horrible routine i feel like i learned a lot. how to regulate my emotions and cope well and find #the joy in everything. bc if i stayed in bed all day then i would at least be happy about the sun or whatever #and for the while of being not at school at all i WANTED to be at school i just could not find one bc our school system is so cute like tha #(basically every school is at capacity and the local school that has a guaranteed place for me would have been an all boys or girls 😭)#but i miraculously found and got into this school and miraculously made it work so well for me socially and now academically #it's also a good time to get back into school for my education bc any later and it woulda been pretty bad for all my certifications and uni #ive missed out on so much maths that its not worth it to me to try and catch up but my teacher knows that #but ive always hated maths regardless i only ever understood it for the first half of yr 7 then my attendance dropped #and after my recent exam i decided to try harder at school. but i still got an A on the exam i didn't study for!! academic weapon fr #i'm just idk thinking back to myself in the past few years #and how hopeless it all felt. but i got out of it!! i beat the depression and social anxiety and found a good place and made the most of it #and during the peak of my depression i remember i went out someplace near my old school and panicked so so badly about seeing #kids from my old school. and the friends at the time didnt really check on me when i went to shake and cry in a side street lmao #i kept the best of that friendgroup and have better friends now. but anyway now i take a bus each morning with some kids from my old school #and you see these hands? they look like they're shaking to you?#anyway yeah it's just cool i got to this point :) i really had no hope for so long but now i have a life i'm living and a future i'm build #--ing towards #which is funny i just decided some random day last november after watching some better call saul 'huh actually lawyer would b pretty cool'#and will i get there? we'll see but i do have hope now

I've been using first person pov style since early April for more meta narrative purposes ( something something Astereus wants to take control of telling their lives, not by abstract force of the Narrative ), but I've been wanting to mix third and first more often, and honestly, I can not imagine how powerful my writings would come across using two styles.

#[ third and first on its own are so good to me ]#[ I've always been proud of my writings - surprisingly - but I think maybe since May I feel like my writing skills have really peaked ]#[ to be honest I do want to get into the purple prose more as part of me occasionally feel like my wordings are plain and repetitive but ]#[ I think being able to convey the character's emotions and thoughts powerfully and ]#[ have the reader truly feel the most raw and genuine and personal parts of them is more than good of an accomplishment to me as a writer ]#[ but yeah y'know I really do think third and first mix point of view would be so excellent to me I just know it in my silly starry bones ]
