okay im 6 episodes into fellow travelers and damn this really is a WHOLE different thing than the book. like they kept a FEW of the same characters and like some of the very most basic foundations of it but d a m n they changed SO much
#im honestly kinda disappointed?#like i wish it were closer to the book#also theres not nearly enough mary in this smh#but yeah they like. did not get the dynamic between hawk and tim right.#its weird in the show. it feels like they got it backwards#like in the book tim is very much the one that is obsessed for lack of better word with hawk#and hawk is very blase about it and tries to play it cool and not show his emotions/feelings about their relationship#but in the show it feels like hawk is the one thats obsessed with tim#also lucy has a WAY bigger way EARLIER role in the show than in the book and im not a fan tbh#i thought she seemed sort of sweet in the book and like understanding in a way. but show lucy is very much neither of those things lol#also the whole aids storyline..... that.... Does Not exist in the book#like they actually make it a point to say that tim DIDNT have aids#so like to add that into the show and to make it a BIG storyline in it too.... also not a fan#plus the way they have hawk like visiting and heping tim when in the book he literally Does Not see tim again before he dies#i feel like that just kinda takes away some of the tragicness of the books ending!!#its obviously a different kind of tragedy in the show but yeah idk it hit harder in the book i feel like#also i am enjoying this b plot of the writer dude and the drag queen but that was defs not in the book#also tim NEVER met hawks children ever so it feels very weird to see him like. spending time with hawks son??#fellow travelers#mack reacts

Buddy and Ummi: The Family (Damian Wayne x Mother Figure!Reader)
Summary: As Dick Grayson’s girlfriend, you meet his new younger sibling, Damian Wayne. The young boy doesn’t know how to express that he needs a mother figure, but once you figure it out, you’re happy to be just that.  This is the second chapter in this series! If you haven’t read the other parts, check them out here!
Word Count: 980
Series Masterlist
Dinner went by swimmingly. The awkwardness of your conversation with Damian soon melted away when Jason asked how you and Dick met. You exchanged a look with your boyfriend, and instead of telling the story, you turned to Bruce.
“I’m assuming it was you who taught him how to drive?” you asked, one eyebrow raised while Dick laughed.
“Yes,” he answered, clearly confused as to how this related to Jason’s question.
“And did you ever talk to him about tailgating?”
“I’m sure I must have.”
You let out a light laugh before continuing. “Well, I’m sure you didn’t mention it enough, because he was tailgating me on a long stretch of road and when we came to a red light, he rear ended me.” You didn’t even have to look to know Jason had a smirk on his face, so you added, “and we are referring to cars, Jason.”
Tim let out a chuckle, and you smiled, glad that he was at least acknowledging your presence. He then asked, “Wait, so that’s really how you met?”
“Yeah, remember when I was freaking out about the insurance and stuff last year? All because of her,” Dick said, a smile gracing his face as he placed his hand on your thigh.
“So we exchanged numbers for insurance purposes, and once the whole thing was cleaned up he called me and asked me on a date,” you admitted, shaking your head.
“And you said yes?” Damian asked, which surprised the whole table. He sounded condescending, but you could tell by the way he was leaning towards you and Dick slightly and the interest that was in his eyes that he actually wanted to hear the whole story.
“Actually, I said no the first time.”
“The first time?” Jason asked.
“He called me again later that same week and apologized for being so forward, which doesn’t really make sense because he asked me out again right after. It was like, ‘hey sorry I asked you out that was kinda weird but seriously let’s go out.’ like that doesn’t make sense,” you said laughing. “Obviously he was using it as an excuse to talk to me again, and I admired his persistence, so I agreed.”
Conversation continued on and the whole vigilante thing was brought up. When Tim asked you how you figured it out, you told him it wasn’t too difficult. You then launched into a story about how Dick was always getting called away from dates and on the same night Nightwing would appear, the suspicious injuries, and then the research you did. “That and the fact that he would never stay the night,” you teased, shooting a cheeky smile and a wink to your now blushing boyfriend. That sent everyone at the table aside from Damian (who didn't quite understand the joke yet) into a quick fit of laughter.
The whole story ended up leading to the fact that you did all that research and figured it out and the next day you did the laundry and found a startling realistic Nightwing “costume” in with your load. “I mean, it was so frustrating! I spent weeks doing all this research and putting together the pieces of the puzzle and then the next day I find the outfit. Insane.” Your story had the whole table laughing (and that includes Damian this time).
The dinner continued on perfectly. You molded well with the family and they loved talking to you. Even Damian began to take a liking to you, realizing that you were someone who wouldn’t necessarily push him around, but he wouldn’t get away with being rude to you either. The whole family was shocked when he asked you questions, often just simple things about your life. He was still new to this whole lifestyle, considering it was such a big jump from what he had grown up in previously, so you answered his questions with a warm smile. A smile telling him that you knew he didn’t mean what he said earlier and that you were glad he was warming up to you.
Though the dynamic between you and Damian surprised even Dick, the most shocking thing happened when dinner was over and you were getting ready to leave. Dick was planning on driving you home before returning to the manor to stay the night and help with patrol stuff, and as you said goodbye to the rest of his family, Damian tugged slightly on the end of your shirt.
When you turned around to say goodbye, he simply said “When will you be returning?”
Everyone in the room fell silent as they looked at the two of you and your eyes grew wide. You glanced at Dick and he shrugged, so you turned to Damian and said, “I’m not sure. When would you like me to return?”
“Seeing as I rather enjoy your company, I would appreciate it if you return sooner rather than later,” he stated, as if it was the most obvious fact in the world. He then held his hand out and said, “It was nice to meet you, (Y/L/N).”
You shook his hand with a smile and bid the family a last farewell, thanking them, and more specifically Alfred, for having you.
