Nothing But Stardust

Like the fatal attraction between sun and moon, such was the web which strung us together but forbade our coexistence. With each our own duties and individual path among the stars, it seemed predetermined that our futures would never collide… until now.

It was her. It had to be her. 

Walking through the bustling market streets, skillfully dodging puddles, just might well have been my only escape from this soggy miserable world. But if the glimpse I had held true, it might just need a promotion. 

I whip around and my eyes desperately jump from person to person scanning through the endless crowd, searching for a shimmer of the pebble that had sent unending ripples through my heart mere years before. 

Yes, mere. 

In this moment, I found myself willing to dismiss the turmoil that had felt so drearily eternal a few minutes before as nothing more than a brief blip in the matrix. 

Just as I’m about to return to my monotonous abyss of apathy, I hear the bright clear twinkle of silver bells as she ducks into a café just a few feet away. I stand there, paying no mind to the drizzle leaving tiny beautiful droplets clinging to my coat. Watching through the glass window, I see her smiling at the boy manning the cash register and reciting her order. She looks…alluring, as always. I smile a bittersweet, sad, smile.

Happy…without me, I think to myself. 

With her drink in hand, she turns and walks toward a seat by the window–toward me. I panic. I turn around and shake off the fuzzy drizzle remnants on my coat and stride off back into the crowd, as a comet whirls into view and disappears once again into the great darkness. 

But stars belong in constellations. And a fallen star can’t last without the brilliant warm glow of the others and its light will soon dim leaving nothing but stardust.

Pride 2022 - Day 25

Today’s recommendation is an utterly BRILLIANT murder mystery series available in print and audio! Seriously, I can’t hype this series enough.

The first book is a slow start. I very nearly stopped reading it when I first picked it up, but fortunately the narrator was so lovely to listen to that I stayed long enough for gay bistro owners Gabri and Olivier to make it onto the scene and then I was like… well if it’s gay, I’ll stay LOL I’m SO GLAD I DID too, because once you get past that first book this series will just knock your socks off. Awesome.

Did I mention this was recommended to me by library staff? It's like they know what they're talking about or something

COFFEE SHOP SCARIAN AU.... but its in a cat cafe <3

scar works at the cat cafe (obviously) and all of the cats LOVE him, obviously he's had the odd scratch or two from cats, but other than that the cats are all over scar half the time

grian on the other hand? hes been going to this cat cafe every week since he moved to the city and none of the cats like him, they DEPISE him even and hes very jealous of the handsome cat whisperer that doesn't even seem to try to get the cats to like him

maybe at some point grian gives in and asks scar how he gets the cats to like him, and scar is very happy to teach him the ways of affectionate cats (alot of treats) and maybe there's a moment where they get abit close because scar's handing him one of the cats and they both get a bit flustered, yk?

and eventually grian starts coming in more regularly (just because the cats like him, obviously, totally not because he can't stop thinking about living with scar in an apartment with their favourite cats at the cafe, totally not) and maybe scar starts serving him more regularly aswell, almost excitedly moving towards him when he walks into the cafe :3

once again thinking abt the smallville inspired AU that lives in my mind. dean is actually lana lang’s character ok. he lives with his aunt ellen and uncle bobby after his parents (and little brother--sorry!) were killed in the meteor shower when he was a child. cas is clark. boy with superpowers<3 he crashed down during the meteor shower (which might’ve just been angels falling idk) and was taken in by the local farmers, the novaks. their farm is neighbors with the singer’s farm where dean takes care of horse and often rides by. dean also works at his aunt ellen’s cafe, which is also of course the local hangout spot. cas is on the school newspaper with charlie and benjamin and they investigate weird stories in the area that may or may not be related to the meteor shower. dean is so clueless bless his heart, but eventually he gets dragged into it all. lex is crowley, obvs.
