okay this is long:

Hunter: like he's very relatable to me that I'm like oh god I went through stuff. His panic attacks and anxiety and PTSD is so painfully relatable. I'm very much like hunter like of all characters in the I ever watched/read hunter is who I can relate to the most. I'm gonna cry if I explain more so yeah. And him(and amity) getting to choose his life. He survived and lived and has support he made it. Through so much abuse he survived and got to live. HE'S LIVING NOT JUST SURVIVING HE'S LIVING. He's one of my favorites plus I love his dynamic luz(big brother to little sister/traumatized besties) and Gus cause they're literally besties and brothers. Willow and Hunter it's cute I like how they're friendship started and how they get together it's cute. Darius being his dad is so adorable and wholesome AND the fact he's a Noceda like Camila basically adopted him. And guys flapjack guys he was the best he was Hunter's only bestie and family and who guided him to the right path like why did he have to die I love them so much. I'm happy that he found his true family. OH ALSO THE HEXSIDE SQUAD GOT TATTOOS OF FLAPJACK LIKE BRO THAT'S SO SWEET AND SAD AND CUTE AND WHOLESOME GAAH MY HEART. Hunter becoming a palisman carver and regrowing palisman trees with Eda and Lilith's dad and the bat queen is so wholesome.

King: I loved him from the get go I just did there's no explanation I just love him so much. I also understand his abandonment issues cause god I feel for him on so many levels. I understand how much he just wants to be loved. Also the family dynamic he has with Luz and Eda is adorable. Luz and king are one of my favorite found sibling dynamics. And Eda being the mom basically eeeeeeeee.

Eda: bro I love her chaotic self. I strive to be that chaotic. It's my dream to be her. I also just understood how she pushes everyone away so they'll be safe so she'll be safe. I get that so much I did that I still do. Just to run away from everything yeah I get that. And her love for Lilith through everything is just amazing her love for everyone is amazing. And her guilt I get that so much I don't know how to explain it. I love her so much. Her being the mom to Luz and King is soooo wholesome and chaotic. And raeda guys I love it. I'm glad she to love and trust herself and others. Eda becoming the principal of the demon realm college is literally the most ironic yet fitting thing ever.

Luz: she's literally one of the best main characters hands down. No argument. She has character development heck they all do. Her making us fellow weirdos to remember "us weirdos stick together". Her, Eda, and King are one of my top favorite found families. I understand not fitting in my mind's different from others and it's nice seeing it's okay to be different. And her gaslighting herself, her blaming herself (they all do it but especially her, hunter, king, Eda and Gus) like I get that I blame myself for everything even the things I can't control like Luz. Like she's willing to put all the blame on herself and hold it in god I feel that. I'm glad she learns to accept herself and not everything is her fault. Lumity is awesome I met a hater the other day and no guys they're awesome and sweet.HER FAMILY IS SO HUGE NOW SHE GOT THE HEXSIDE SQUAD, EDA AND KING, HER MOM AND VEE LIKE IT'S AWESOME AND ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME. Her choosing every elective and class and getting to go to both worlds is the best.

Gus: Guys Gus is so awesome and so underrated. Guys love him he's amazing. His anxiety and feeling overwhelmed and feeling dumb that episode(labyrinth runners) killed me. I felt that so much I was like god I'm not the only one. He feels like he's not good enough cause he gets used so cause he skipped a grade and showed talent like bro he reminds me of a friend of mine and Gus as a character reminds me as her. Like Gus knowing Hunter is a grimwalker and subtly showing Hunter he knows and how they'll always be friends like that's just prime bestie/brother moments. And they're handshake GUYS GUS AND HUNTER'S HANDSHAKE I CAN'T I LOVE IT. Gus becoming the human ambassador and human realm teacher makes so much sense.

Willow: I love her guys she's awesome. I feel her so much always trying to prove herself even though she's so strong. And she's always striving to be better to reach higher heights. I love that about her so much. She's the mom in the hexside squad she's always protecting everyone else and ignoring her own needs. She never just lets it out and bro I feel that so much. Her breakdown and her just letting the bottle inside her break god I get that. I always keep stuff in until the bottle breaks but she also just lets everything out so it doesn't consume her. And too me that's so amazing that's so brave of her and I wish I could do that. I love that she becomes a professional flyer derby player and captain. Also the trio friendship between luz and Gus and then Hunter and Gus I love it. And the fact she reconciled and became better and closer friends with amity bro I don't think I could do that. I admire willow so much.

Vee: I wanted to see more of vee but I love vee so much as a character. I find her a sort of parallel to Luz. But obviously different since Vee was forced to come to the human realm where as Luz more or less chose to come to the demon realm. It's cool how Luz wasn't accepted in her human home but she was accepted into the demon realm(more or less) and vee who was accepted into the human realm(more or less) and they're sisters because Camila is awesome and she's a great mom. I also just love vee's personality and how far she's become. I love her vee and we should of seen more of her.

Amity: Okay this is one of the few times I like the former bully become an amazing person. Like I didn't want to like her even after I saw her redemption in season 1 it's just that she's rich and I had problem with rich people well now the problem doesn't really exist cause dang everyone's rich at times I will be pissed at them ngl. But when I watched toh at the time I was very deep into my hate of rich people. But later I couldn't hold onto that hate cause amity is a literal cinnamon roll who I guess can kill you but she's sweet. Her sibling relationship with Em and Ed like that's literally how siblings act it's awesome. I love her character development like she was a stuck up rich mean girl snob to I'm trying to change but I'm almost three to I'm a literal cinnamon roll who can probably kill. I also just love her style like I want her style so much. And her abuse by odalia her ex mom reminds of my own abuse it's obviously different but the gaslighting and emotional manipulation yeah I get that a lot. But her and emira and edric survived and that's amazing. And Alador being a good dad was great and breaking a toxic partnership and relationship like that's brave. I love how she was able to rebuild her friendship with willow(and that took time and tribulations) that they became better friends. Anyway amity is awesome and yeah. Her tomato face is funny hehehe

The owl house came during when my life shifted from a former traumatic experiences to me trying to accept the fact to another traumatic experiences and hardships. These characters all have aspects that I see in myself which makes it all so relatable. I felt seen through many different characters in different ways. The Owl House was a lifeline for me and I'm so happy it was in my life. I really can't pick a singular character cause I really do love them all (except for belos/Philip, kikimora, the coven heads(not counting raine, Darius, and ember- I love them so so so much) and weirdo messed up modern witch hunter dude, oh also boscha and luz's principal and the haters). But the owl house was during there for me and it still is. If I ever meet Dana I'm gonna thank her so much. I also love Lilith and hooty and the CATS and STEVE GUYS STEVE, and Darius and Raine and ember. AND CAMILA LIKE SHE REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF MY MOM THAT MAKES ME LOVE HER SO MUCH AND BE MORE UNDERSTANDING OF MY OWN MOM. OH ALSO THE COLLECTOR GUYS THEY'RE ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME and yeah sure they're an overpowered child but we love him. Also I love emira and edric I love the twins they're chaotic they're loving and can be relatable also they're the definition of older siblings. If I had the time I would do a whole essay on the characters I love/like. Cause no way could I type all that in this post. But yeah sorry for the late and VERY LONG reply!

There is no doubt in my mind that Camila Noceda was one of the MVPs of the latest episode. Ever since the start of the show, people have been arguing left and right about whether she is a good mother to Luz, from the initial decision to send her to camp, to her making her daughter promise to stay on Earth if she ever got back. Well, after this latest outing I definitely hope that those arguments have been laid to rest once and for all. Camila is, most definitely, a good mother, doing all she can to help Luz and do what’s best for her. We might have only had a nightmare sequence to show it, but it’s clear that there’s been a lot of pressure on her for some years now regarding Luz’s behaviour, both from school and elsewhere, and in her position I’m sure many others would have been tempted to take the same actions.

Asking Luz to stay with her if she got back? Again, it’s reasonable considering the situation. I mean, if you discovered your child was stuck in another place filled with literal demons, chances are you’d want them far away from it too. Nothing this woman has done has ever suggested to me that she was in any way wrong with her treatment of Luz, and she certainly wasn’t “abusive” as some fans were quick to label her at the start of the show. Also, how awesome is it that she’s willing to look after five other kids from the Boiling Isles and not only change her mind about Luz going back, but offer to go with her and (hopefully) whack Belos in the face with a bat when she gets there? This lady is an awesome mom, and that’s that 😊

Day 10: Camila Noceda

There are many things I've said here that I've also said when I wrote about Gwendolyn Clawthorne, but bear with me here.

Let's just say it was incredibly hard to have a good viewpoint on Camila if everything you got is in Season 1, as the only time she interact with Luz is when she's about to send her to camp. But after Yesterday's Lie, and now For The Future, I am glad that we got an almost full picture of momma Noceda, a huge nerd that had to suppress herself when growing up.

Just like I said with Gwendolyn, Camila was just trying to do the best things for her daughter, but lacked communication. Communication is the key for every relationship, you need to communicate to understand each other. And Yesterday's Lie really helped Camila and Luz communicated and understood a lot.

It is also really nice of her that she was ready to learn more for her daughter and the 5 extra friends she bought home. She got the books, the pride pin, everything, as long as they're comfortable. And through her dream we found out that she was forced to be harsh on Luz in the first episode. It was challenging, but she's willing to do so. It is never late to learn anything, and even better if it's to help others.

The reveal that she was a nerd was quite shocking for Luz. The fact that Camila decided to own up to Luz, and indirectly helped Stringbean hatched is amazing. The entire scene is what I meant when I said parents need to communicate with children more, understand them, and if necessary, apologize them.

Camila is an awesome mom, a huge support, an ally, and everything nice a child can hope for in their parents. It's hard to for her to raise Luz without her husband, but now she understood Luz, it's gonna be alright.

She climbed to become one of my faves on the show and one of my absolute favorite fictional moms of all time

Alright, last minute predictions for For The Future. Let’s do this!

- One of the Blight twins has been puppetified. It’ll probably be Edric. - The Collector doesn’t see Eda as Eda, just the Owl Beast. Either that or she’s stuck in its form. - Some or all of the Hexsquad are going to get puppetified. At least one. Maybe Luz? - We find out the Collector that sealed the Owl Beast was a different one, who liked turning things into scrolls instead of puppets. - The Collector tweens around a bunch. - Tag Team AU will reblog the Hollow Mind reaction drawing again. - Every Collector-related AU will take a several week hiatus to figure out where they can go from here. - Collector-related fics will see a boost in traffic. This is something made from a chat between me and @ordinaryschmuck.

Just imagine Vee attending Luz's human school and on her first day, she notices how everyone either avoids her on sight or mocks her. Whenever she tries to talk to people they scoff just call her a freak. Then she runs into one of Luz's old bullied who makes fun of her and even tries to take the hexes-hold um cards she had on hand. Vee is so scared and panicked that she punches the bully hard, but she's the one who gets in trouble because the teachers don't believe her due to Luz's bad reputation and the bully pretending to be innocent

Bully: Come on Noceda, We've been doing this since 4th grade. You should know how this works by now.

Of course, unlike Luz, Vee tells Camila and when she hears about all of this, she knows she has to have a talk with Luz.

Assume that this take place in an AU where Luz is domehow able to contact the Human World using titans blood and a pair of mirrors)

So, the next time Luz contacts home, her friends standing off to the side as she speaks with her mom Camila reveals what Vee had told her about what the kids at school did.

Luz has no choice but to admit that those kids had indeed been bullying her for years and they even made sure that the other kids all ignored her or thought she was a weirdo by spreading terrible rumors about her.

And Camila ends up asking the obvious question: Why had Luz never told her about this?

Luz admits that she saw how long and hard Camila worked and didn't want to burden her with her problems after she already made her deal with so many issues due to her getting into trouble. She also, tearfully, admits there was another reason.

Luz: Whenever I tried to tell a teacher or someone else they....they never believed me. They always took the bullies side. I was just scared that... maybe you wouldn't believe me either. That you would take their side too.

Camila: Mija, I would always take your side

Luz: Then why did you send me to summer camp?

Camila falters.

Camila: Because...Because you kept doing such reckless things! The snakes, and, and the fireworks-!

Luz: I DID THOSE THINGS BECAUSE I WANTED SOMEONE TO NOTICE ME! I just..wanted one person to look at me and not just ignore me or call me a freak. 😪

Luz finally breaks down and admits she doesnt want to go back to Earth to have to face that.

Luz: "Here I have friends and an awesome girlfriend and...and people who care about me besides just you! Mom, I'm sorry. I love you, but I don't want to go back to being that weirdo freak who no one wants to be around! I...I can't go back to being alone."

Camila: But you're not alone. You have me!

Luz: And that's not always enough!

Camila looked at her in shock.

Luz: You're gone so much at work. And, even then, you're the only one who actually cares about me! If I vanished or something happened to me, no one else would care!

Luz begins crying heavily, her whole body shaking with her sobs.

Luz: I just wanted to be able to get someone else to care about me and, and LOVE me. Like you did. But...but I never could. And after a while I started thinking maybe...maybe I just wasn't someone other people could love.

A tear drops from Camila's eye. She wanted nothing more to hold her daughter and help her but she was stuck, both on the other side of the mirror and an entire world away. Hearing Luz say things like that-that no one else cared about her, that she might not be someone that could be loved- shattered her heart into pieces.

But then, Amity comes over and hugs Luz from behind.

Amity: I love you.

Then Willow comes over and hugs her.

Willow: I love you too.

Then Gus.

Gus: Me too.

Next Eda comes and holds her.

Eda: Don't even think for a second I don't too kid.

King hops onto Luz's head with tears in his eyes.

King: IVE NEVER LOVED ANYTHING LIKE IVE LOVED YOU!

And seeing Luz crying into her friends arms, as she was finally getting the love and appreciation she'd craved all these years, it finally hit Camilla. How her daughter had felt so alone and unlovable for so long. How she'd failed to notice how much Luz was hurting. How the bright light of her life who's smile always made her feel better was now so sad and crushed, and in pain and it was because she was so ignorant, Camila just...cracks. she falls to the ground and starts brokenly crying, beating herself up inside for not seeing this before it had become such a problem.

Vee put an arm around Camila to comfort her and once Luz sees her mother crying, she immediately feels guilty because she thinks telling her about all of this made her feel bad.

Luz: Mom, I'm sorry! I-i shouldn't have said all that! I shouldn't have told you-!

Camila: NO! Don't you dare say that! I needed to know that! Don't ever apologize or feel upset about how feeli g how you do!

Luz: But...but I made you cry.

Camila: And I made you feel alone. Unloved.

Luz: No. You didn't. Everyone else made me feel like that.. You were the only person that made me feel like I actually mattered.

Luz wipes away her tears and gets a genuine smile on her face.

Luz: Coming home to be with you after being ignored and bullied at school were the best parts of my days. Hanging out with you, and watching movies with you, or going out into the woods with you to play...those were the times when I never felt alone. Mom, you were never why I left. You're the only reason I even think about going back home.

Overwhelmed by their emotions, Luz and Camila stamp themselves against their sides of the mirror and cry into them. The others just watch in silence as they whisper "I love you" and "I'm sorry" and the like to each other. Letting out all their love for each other and soothing the stings of the past caused by lies.

I was not expecting this specific feels trip for “Reaching Out”.

We now know what happened to Luz’s Dad. :( And the way Luz and Camila remembers him (by collecting and giving each other flowers as he once did when he lived) was a sweet and loving gesture that helped them bond since his passing. Realizing that this is the first time that she won’t do this with her Mom is so painful for Luz. 

Camila Noceda’s tears and pleading to Luz from “Yesterday’s Lie” now has additional nuance; she already lost her husband and to “lose” her daughter too...the pain. The unbearable heartbreak. 

This meta nicely summarizes Luz’s greatest character flaw: trying to solve everyone else’s problems to try to forget/avoid dealing with her own. I find this EXTREMELY relatable; I’ve buried myself in work and reading fanfics after I lost my sister to cancer more than 2 years ago.

Amity’s face when Luz finally tells her.

It is a testament to Amity’s awesome girlfriend status that she knows that Luz didn’t mean to set off the Abomiton’s alarm & bring Alador to the Bonesborough Brawl and offers to find flowers for Luz so that she could continue the “tradition” in the Boiling Isles. All while she was under time pressure to get back to the Brawl to figure out the cause of the ruckus...

Amity finally stands up to not just her mother, but also her father, and let’s him know that she’s not interested in pursuing a post in the Emperor’s Coven, she’s dating Luz, and her hair isn’t green anymore. At least Alador seems appreciative of the fact that her hair is the same color as the Abominations. And that “Mittens” has come into her own as a witch who will be heard, damn it!

Edric has some insecurities, and the B-plot helped to boost him up. Also, Emira should totally get a Bad Girl Coven shirt too; she did healing magic too!

Eda and Alador know each other, confirmed. Blight be warned, Eda knows about what happened with Luz at the Abomiton demo...

Luz is now experimenting with mixing up glyphs, and is most likely going to teach Amity how to draw glyphs (I have high hopes for this).

I do have one concern: will Eda use the mutation potion on herself????

Wrath did prove helpful about one thing: not everyone in the Coven likes what Belos is about to do on the Day of Unity.

Hunter is a fan of King’s book. LOL

Next week: we get a flashback episode! And...

after vee encounters humans from luz's old school she starts to understand why luz chose to stay in the demon realm

Luz Noceda was an optimist. And smart, according to Eda and her teachers at Hexside.

So it made sense to her that she had five more chances to try and build a working portal out of Amity's Titan-blood soaked glove. The second portal attempt, she had gone into that rift again. Unfortunate, but it had given her the chance to talk to her mom and Vee again. That time, she had actually managed to tell her mom about King and Eda.

So at least her mom's worries that she was all alone was eased.

Although Luz was a bundle of nerves about telling her about her friends and awesome girlfriend.

Third try, Luz sighed as she once again found the rift as she was lowered in. "Not too bad." she mumbled, looking on the bright side as she grabbed one of those cubes. "At least I can talk to Vee..."

As soon as she said the name, the cube shimmered and soon revealed the guest bedroom where Vee had been moved in. Camila wasn't comfortable with what Vee had done to Luz's room and had moved her to the guest bedroom so she could have her own space. (Admittedly, Luz was pretty annoyed too.)

Vee was curled up on the bed. It looked like some redecorating had been done, some posters hung up and some throw pillows... "Hey Vee!" Luz called from the mirror. "What's up!"

"I get it now."

..."What?" Luz was now confused. "What happened?"

"Why you didn't want to approach those kids. Why you want to stay on the Boiling Isles." Vee looked up, revealing her face was streaked with tears. "I...Some kids approached me at the park and..." Luz froze. "They asked who the principal was going to believe. Them or the crazy girl?"

"Oh."

"I told M- Camila."

"WHAT!" Luz shrieked, flattening herself against the cube. Vee's eyes widened and she leaned back a little. "You cannot tell Mom, she doesn't need this!"

"What does that mean?" She wasn't sure how to respond to that. As Luz gaping, mind whirling for an answer that wasn't She doesn't know I'm getting bullied Vee's eyes narrowed. She sat up on the bed, pointing straight at her. "You haven't told Mami, have you!"

"She's busy with work!" Luz scrambled for a defense immediately, not noticing the Mami. "And now she's worried about me getting lost in another dimension! There's no need for me to saddle more-"

"Saddle more what?"

And there was her mom, staring at the mirror.

And guessing by her expression, she had heard everything.

Takes place after Luz gets a permanent, functioning portal, and she lives in the Boiling Isles (yes, she breaks her mother's promise). Enjoy!

Meeting the Parent

Amity is beyond nervous. She knows she should be, Luz told her a thousand times not to be nervous, but she still is.

"You all ready to go?"

Amity snaps out of her haze to see Luz waiting for her.

"Yeah, I guess" Amity says quietly.

Luz goes over and wraps her arm around Amity. "You're nervous, aren't you?"

Amity nods.

"It's okay. I know I told you not to be, but we're all different. How do you think I felt when I met you parents?"

"They almost killed you,"Amity points out.

"But I wasn't nervous. More like terrified, but that's beside the point. You're supposed to feel like this. I know my mother will love you."

She gives Amity a quick kiss on the check.

"We can't keep Camila Noceda waiting, or she'll come after you got holding me up."

Luz sees the look of horror on her girlfriend's face. "I'm kidding I'm kidding!!! Oh man, I'm still not good at this," Luz facepalms.

Amity starts to laugh. "You're lucky your cute when you're flustered."

Luz takes Amity hand and they walk into the human realm.

Amity starts to fidget while they're walking to Luz's house. Luz rubs her thumb over Amity's knuckles to calm her down. "So, it's just going to be your mother, you, and I?" Amity asks.

"Yep! I was able to convince Vee to spend the night with some of her friends from summer camp."

"And what did she get in return?"

"What do you mean?"

"I know how this works Luz. To get something special like this, you have to bribe your siblings."

Luz intensely curses forgetting that Amity has not one, but two siblings.

"I have to hang out with her friends to get to know them better when I come back."

"That's not horrible."

"It is when you're horrible at interacting with humans like I am."

Amity laughs. They are approaching Luz's house. Luz can feel Amity tense up. "It's going to be okay, I promise." She smiles at her girlfriend and knocks on the door.

Luz still finds it a little weird that she has to knock on her own door, but she sees it as time for Vee to change her appearance.

The door opens, revealing Camila. "Mija, you're home!"

"Hola mama! I missed you so much!"

"But we saw each other last week?"

"I don't care. I missed you!"

They hug, while Amity stands in the background. She sees them break their hug.

"Mom, this is Amity."

"So this is the awesome girlfriend I've been hearing about since the portal opened?"

Amity goes beet red at Camila's comment.

"Uh hi Ms. Noceda. It's nice to meet you," Amity extends her arm for a handshake.

Camila puts her hand up and Amity stops. "First thing you should know about me, I'm a hugger." She envelopes Amity into a hug. Amity goes rigid, but relaxes as the hug continues.

"Why don't you come in and tell me about yourself? I would love to hear it."

After Amity's quick backstory and a very filling dinner, Luz decides that she's going upstairs to relax for a little bit.

"You two have fun down here!" Luz runs upstairs.

Amity glares at the spot Lutz disappears to, but Camila breaks her glare by asking a question.

"How is Luz on the Boiling Isles?"

"Huh?"

"How is she in the Boiling Isles? Like, is she like here where she gets in trouble at school? Stuff like that."

Amity thinks for a few seconds. "She only got expelled once, but that was on my parents."

"She got expelled?!"

"And banned from campus after I met here, but somehow she ended up at Hexside. I still think Principal Bump has a soft spot for her."

"She has a principal that likes her?"

"Oh yeah. All the teachers at Hexside love her. I think it's because she's human, but I also think it's her personality. She brings out the best in people and she always stands up for her friends, especially towards Boscha."

"Boscha?"

Amity looks at Camila. "Boscha is Hexside's version of your typical bully. She always has to be the best and put everyone down that's not her friend. Titan, I hated hanging out with her."

"You used to hang out with her?"

Amity nods.

"Why?"

Amity breathes in. "I'm sure Luz has told you, my parents aren't the best. They forced me to hang out with Boscha because it elevated the Blight name."

"I'm sorry you had to go through that Amity."

Amity waves off that comment. "Anyway, Luz, somehow in her weird own way, can bring sunshine to any dreary day on the Boiling Isles. If you were having a bad day, just go see Luz. She knows how to cheer anyone up. It's amazing that she can do that."

Camila is crying. She can't believe that her daughter is making an impact on other people.

"Oh no, I didn't mean to make you cry Ms. Noceda," Amity says.

"I'm crying because I'm happy Amity," Camila replies. "I've never seen Luz this happy. It seems that you all have had an effect on her too. Especially you."

"Me?"

Camila nods. "She always lit up when she talks about you. She needs that person that can support her fantasies, but she also needs that someone to keep things in perspective. I know she loves you so much and I'm so proud that my daughter is dating you."

Amity lets Camila words sink in. Her girlfriend's mother is proud of her. Her. Amity starts to cry.

"My parents never told me they were proud of me. You've only known me for a couple of hours and you say you're proud of me? I can't believe it."

"You are an amazing person Amity and you should be proud of that."

"Thank you, Ms. Noceda."

"Call me Camila please. We're practically family."

They both hug and talk about other things while Luz is upstairs.

What they didn't know was that Luz was listening the whole time, and she couldn't be prouder of both of them.
