#can u tell how much I LOVE the game design and setting

hi! I love the way you write and I was wondering if u could do Asa, Jesse, and Michael with an s/o who’s a famous (but unknown) horror game designer? Like they make all their games themself and their development set-up is in the basement
If this is too specific or hard feel free to turn it away, ur my fav slasher writer and I love ur fics ❤️❤️
Why would I turn this is away?! This is actually so cool. As someone who’s into stories and horror, at a very young age I always wanted to create games or even comics dedicated to horror so this was actually really fun to write! Also I love you so much, I’m your favourite slasher writer? Like what the heck?! I hope you like this munchkin, XO.
Also I deeply apologize for not writing as much I finally have a job again so I’ve been busy with that and saving for my PC, but I promise stuff is still coming out, I’m also in the process of trying to better the way I write sooo bare with me.

- honestly I feel like Michael would think this is.. actually kind of interesting. A lot of times he’s some what impatient to get home just so he can get his way into the basement and watch you create your own little worlds.
- in a way, it helps him escape? That and he can relate due to the horror themes.. but when he watches it’s almost like he’s the character. Watching so intently as you test the game, the character making their way through corridors and flashing their flash light at sudden noises. It almost felt real. Maybe you took inspiration from your murderous boyfriend, either way he thinks it’s fascinating.
- One night when watching you code and test the game you’d recently been working on, he noticed the frustration boiling under your fingers, watching as you occasionally picked up your pencil to scribble, watching as they went back to the keyboard to pop up the coding screen and quickly going back to the game. “Michael, I’m doomed.” The man ever so slightly jumped, the comfort of the quiet now gone. He tilted his head a bit looking at you and then the screen. What could have been the issue.. it looked great. He softly cocked a brow and sat back. “I can’t come up with an antagonist for the game.. nothing absolutely nothing at all comes to mind.”
- The two of you sat in silence once more, listening to the music that played from the computer the music that was supposed to make the killer of the game come out, it’s que for the coding to jump scare the poor pixelated protagonist. But nothing could come to mind. Michael sat for a long moment and on a whim.. pointed to himself. Michael usually wasn’t of much help and didn’t care to help you with most things but this had been something he’d taken a liking to and if Michael likes it then that’s when he’ll help.
- you looked at him with a glint of curiosity in your eyes. That’s actually.. not such a bad idea. I mean.. fuck even though the man did what he did he had.. a pretty large amount of people who liked him so why not.. make a game about him.. people do it all the time.. ‘based on true events’. He was a genius. You gave a soft peck to Michaels cheek before going back to your game, creating the antagonist to be the one and only.
-Michael Myers.
-… you’ve probably fuelled his ego though.
Tumblr media
𝐀𝐬𝐚 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲
- I mean. Definitely isn’t interested in games but he understands what having hobbies is and doing things to thrill you so he’s all for it. He might occasionally tell you that you should add something like this.. or that, maybe put that in there. I mean he would know right. Horror.. is what he does.
- oddly enough whenever he does this it’s almost like he’s criticizing you on how to do things but he’s not.. he just wants to help in some way, show that he’s not such an asshole and does care for your interests. But it does come across as if he’s criticizing. He Never really learned how to tap into giving good criticism.
- he likes it because he doesn’t have to worry about you when he’s at the hotel. You’re content in the basement, tapping away at you work and listening to music, and when he’s home.. it’s maybe a little too quiet. He doesn’t normally get a hug when he comes home, or a kiss. So he’ll open the basement door, bring you food and deliver a kiss to your temple.
- “eat. You’ve been at this all day.”
- quickly walks upstairs so he doesn’t have to hear you thank him for being so sweet.
Tumblr media
𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬
- uhmmmm that’s cool, but can you maybe bring a laptop with all that stuff cuz, he doesn’t want you in the basement he wants you by his side at work.. 24/7. So if you can find a way to bring that with you then uh I’d suggest do that.
- it’s not that he doesn’t want you to do what you’re doing, your job is great he just. Wants you time.
- all the time. Even if that means you have to bring work with you everywhere you go. He makes sure that you aren’t interrupted though, he makes sure you have a comfy chair right beside him and have room on his desk to set your laptop and all your work on. He likes to set his work aside at times to watch you, ask you questions about what you’re making and sometimes to test the game.
- I won’t lie.. Jesse probably likes the idea of games, like Michael he sees it as his own world, he can be somebody else, somewhere made up.
- the amount of times you hear the text to speech from his phone to tell you to add little skulls here and there is ridiculous. But you like to the little ‘I’m so proud of you’, ‘this looks amazing dear’
- he loves your work. He is very very proud of you and how much effort you put into it.

um . could u give me the rain code pitch . i am still cursed with the dream specter and think i might need to play it to exorcise this
hi. so. this is going to be pretty long and slightly stream of consciousness, because i am always much worse about giving concise pitches than i think. i am also clicking my heels together in joy. its going to be very obvious that i love this game a lot... like. elevator pitch, i would give the game a solid, respectable 6/10 if ranking it purely in gameplay feel, overall execution, and the like. maybe edging closer to a 7 with its updates to performance since launch.
However, what is clear about raincode is that it as a 6 year long labor of love, and this endears me to it in the way that energy endears me to trigger happy havoc despite its flaws, its clunkiness, and its relative shortness. I would give it an easy 9/10 for the heights it strives for and the effort that went into the making of the world, the emotional resonance of the main characters, the story, the aesthetic. the psychic effects it has had on me, finally, cannot be measured. i need to find articles about gay bathouse culture for this game. thats not even a queer theme i think kodaka intentionally put in this game and trust me he puts stuff in intentionally, thats just one i keep thinking about. thats the headspace the game puts me in.
now,
THE (master detective archives/enigma archives) RAINCODE PITCH.
The danganronpa games, you know them. Kazutaka Kodaka, the writer of the games, you may or may not know that guy. I like his writing a lot since i got deeply into danganronpa in 2020. this is one of the only games i have preordered in years. He made a new game that's a 3-d mystery-adventure game. The soundtrack designer and character designer from those games are also here, and spitting.
Raincode is a mystery-adventure game set in a unique world with what are described as “psycho-noir” aesthetics, referencing the heightened fantasy of the setting’s visuals compared to the (already electric) DR.
You play as Yuma Kokohead, an amnesiac trainee detective sent (along with several other, far higher ranking detectives) to the autonomous zone ‘Kanai Ward’ to investigate its never ending rain, its complete isolation, and the corporation that controls it: Amaterasu Corporation, its faction of ‘peacekeepers’, and its systematic refusal to let investigations be done inside or out.
The bulk of the game IS this detective work, even when you’re not working on a case. The city has several districts (with very clear class associations) that you are free to walk around in, and it uses cyberpunk aesthetics in a way that’s very pleasing to me. Kinda think splatsville but neon, its that design of.. an area thats still maybe a little too polished for a city but it has a genuine eye to how a city actually tends to look and the ways people use it and exist in it. there are quite a few incidental npcs, and i think they work well to make the city feel alive. One of my favorite aspects of the game is the goal to present a multinational setting, with stuff like signage in latin alphabets, cyrillic, kanji, and the character’s names.
I could go on about the design for a while and i have more notes about it later just. The World Is Really Cool. you know what the master detectives are? Theyre detectives sanctioned by the World Detective organization, given the title of master because of their innate psychic abilities that have been honed into forensic and investigative tools. The reason the trainee detective Yuma is an amnesiac is probably because he made a pact with a death god that links them “body and soul”, for purposes he can no longer remember and she is unable or unwilling to tell him. This pact, however, gives him his own edge in investigating. Obviously the game is centered around solving murders, though in a less personal way than in DR. Also like and unlike DR, the way you are guided into solving these murders is through a series of minigames (in a pocket dimension that is the mystery given form (called a mystery labyrinth where the psychedelic design starts to come out crazy hard)) which are. The minigames are fine, i do generally enjoy the non-stop debates from danganronpa more, but theyre well-designed and fun. The mysteries themselves are Bangers, i made it a goal for myself to at least try to solve all of the main ones by myself to test if they were good mysteries where u were given all possible information to piece together, and i never felt cheated when i didnt get it exactly right. Again, it misses some of the intense personal connection you get with some of the murders in dr with it not happening in a closed cast, but i think that the story of them is done very well. Smiles.
And coming back to yuma, thats the other thing about this game. Danganronpa dealt heavily with exploring themes of student burnout, critiquing the justice system in specific areas like trial and (capital) punishment, etc with its characters, and where Raincode really shines in similar areas, but a little to the left.
If danganronpa was essentially about teenagers who really didn't have much to gain from the system but useless power over other teenagers and the costs of punishing deviance from norms, raincode is grappling with power structures where adults do have a lot to gain from upholding them, especially through the politics of information. Misinformation, hiding information, even the collection and use of info. Like DR, it also has a lot of very interesting things to say about ‘giftedness’ and the way it can alienate people, though again with a strong eye in considering people without these gifts, and/or people who do not have “average” abilities and how they have to navigate this world.
The themes are strong. I would argue the game is also edging into being about being disabled and the guilt of burdening or even just interacting others with characters like Yuma, Fubuki, and Pucci. Its really highly interesting and, thankfully Kodaka’s bottom-line touch is one of understanding. The duality of being othered by ability and othered by disability.
I think one of the things i like most about Raincode is its unflinching way it depicts the ebb and flow of our protagonists', Yuma and Shinigami’s, morals, goals, and convictions. It has a lot to say about what depending on other people means, the good and the bad of it, the ways you can be taken advantage of, and all of yuma’s relationships with the other characters showcase this heavily– how he feels about himself in relationship to them, what he wants them to feel about him, how they support him or use him. Its a game where, very plainly, you do not have all the information and are playing against sharks who will take every chance they get to puppet you around.
and what helps, obviously, is that yuma and shinigami are delightful protagonists to follow. their dynamic is written with a lot of care and nuance and is also just. really funny.
I clear my throat. Addendum. Some things to note, about this game. We have some one piece type shit in here. What i mean by that is I respect komatsuzaki as a character designer but he makes a lot of weird choices in character design that i am unable to really understand the reason for at times. Kodaka is not getting off the hook for the writing of the characters of color, but its unclear how much.. Direct correlation kodaka’s writing and the designs have. Wont get too much into it.
The other thing i mean by that is. Transmisogyny but i put a huge “EXCEPT-” sign up. One of the best chapters of the game centers the transmisogynistic plot device of two male characters having to disguise themselves as girls to investigate a murder in a girl’s school. I am not a trans woman, but what i will say in my perspective being familiar with this trope in even recent stuff like mob psycho is that like. The characters generally can and will say edgy, really rude shit but i personally feel the game takes the stance that theres nothing wrong with crossdressing, yknow? And also the pervert character is explicitly trans-positive. That helps. Its a thing that looks bad head on and makes the pitch kind of hard because obviously its not something one expects to be any better than it looks.
Also the game is almost fully voice acted with only some incidental interaction dialogue not being voiced. The english voice actors do a fantastic job, and from what i understand many of the japanese voice actors have a lot of love for the game too (i can't speak on their performances lol)
(also theres a lot of extra material for the game in the form of dlc stories and collectable story interactions in the main game. these are difficult to know the correct time to experience them and are a bit clunky in that way but are very worth looking up when the time is right)

What's your favourite saw movie? And how would you rank all of the saw movies?
I love saw 4 [I know alot of people hate it, but I adore Daniel rigg, therefore it's my comfort movie]
omg what a difficult question LOL but i have attempted to rank them for myself before..
funny, my ranking now is completely different from my first impressions
anyway get ready for another signature long, way overthought answer filled w series spoilers
disclaimer, being low on the list here doesn't mean i dislike the film, actually. there are none I truly dislike, its just I love the top ones so much that it simply pushes every other down
i was just gonna describe my top 3 and then vaguely rank the rest but i think ill describe all of them. so, in LOOSE order of fave to least fave (def not set in stone)
Saw VI: has my favorite scenes with my favorite character, the FBI plot is thrilling, William Easton's game is one of the best, every trap is memorable to iconic, technical things like the cinematography and lighting and set design is mwah chefs kiss. And, its one of the most satisfying films in terms of finally getting answers to mysteries that have been teased for 3 movies straight, and finally seeing Hoffman get his comeuppance. The last moments of that film are some of the hypest shit. I put this one on when I need to see my man and im craving peak soap opera vibes but in all the best ways
Saw X: As much as I love the investigation plotline, I love how this one takes a step back and you truly get to be with John and Amanda all movie, they got to really spend time on the emotion and heart of the film, and again, it has some of the most memorable and exciting sets and traps, as well as some of my favorite player characters. Cecelia, my queen. it also has i think one of my favorite finale scenes of all of them, where we get to see John in a trap himself!!! and the hello Zepp moment being just. perfection. 👌 I put this one on when I want my Saw-watching experience to feel like a sporting event from thrill and great subtle humor, but i also need to be in the mood for the emotional beats bc they hit pretty hard
Saw II: I will sing this film's praises whenever I can. Its a fantastic sequel and I will tell u why. Aside from Saw X this is practically the one other film where John actually gets a spotlight and he eats up every scene. This fuckin guy. One of the funniest films to rewatch after knowing the signature Saw twists- this dude drops so many foreshadowing comments its honestly impressive and comedic. The nerve gas house is also one of my favorite games, and I love seeing Amanda get a spotlight too. You also get a taste for what the franchise has in store when it comes to the camp and soap opera plotline, so as long as you're into that, its one of the most fun Saw films. I watch this one when I want a more lighthearted Saw experience where it really feels like John and Amanda are up to mischief
Saw V: A little on the slower side, I actually appreciate that this one is mostly about providing much-needed answers and backstory. If you hate Hoffman, I get why this one could be a slog, but I adore him so I'm fine. As for Strahm, this one really shocked me. I thought he was gonna be a one-movie type deal just be killed off at the very start, but he SHOCKED me. U get to watch someone survive a trap, a RIGGED one no less, and go from kind of a cocky asshole to the baddest bitch on the scene. He singlehandedly figured out Hoffman's deal and took it upon himself to stop him, procedure be damned. I was rooting for him so hard, man. I also really like the Fatal Five. And the Glass Coffin. Listen, it's pretty obvious why I'll put this one on.
Saw: The OG. What more is there to say. It's original, it's exciting, it redefined a genre whether you wish it did or not, it's got the craziest early 2000's flare, it's got mystery, it's got drama, it's got it all. I put this one on when I want to go back to our ✨roots✨
Saw IV: Initially this was probably my least favorite but now that I can tell Hoffman and Strahm apart, now that I adore both of those characters, now that I know the plot like the back of my hand so I'm not confused by the copious flashbacks and general lack of answers given and new questions asked, I love it just like the others. Rigg is also one of my favorite game-players, he's just so good and wants to save his friends, watching him mentally toil over everything is really exciting. The traps are also fun. And every Strahm scene. (also this movie is filled with really hot men and lots of fanservice for Jennas like me to enjoy, and enjoy even more with shipping goggles on)
Saw III: This one I love for the progression of Amanda and John's complicated dynamic and lore but I also can't rewatch it often because it's so damn sad, and gross. This one is probably the grossest one between the multiple vomit moments and pig vat. Ugh. But, every Amanda scene, my god. My precious girl. I want to scoop her into my arms. I love her so much. This one I've only watched twice, Im due for another stoned midnight rewatch soon.
Saw 3D: They can't make me hate you. I haven't rewatched this one yet, but I'll rewatch moments for a laugh. I like the potential- all the ideas they had, like the original film callbacks and bringing back Lawrence as an apprentice and finally showing someone dying in the damn RBT, and even the furthering of Hoffman's mental downfall which I'd argue started in 5, were intriguing on paper, but the execution was a bit awkward. I like Hoffman's rampage though. Hoffmanator, my problematic fave, really playing into my love for slashers there
Spiral: this was a Scream movie. but, I like Scream. ill rewatch it one day when im in a specific mood i think. maybe
Jigsaw: meh. dont hate it but i have no desire to rewatch. i do think Logan coming back would be the funniest shit ever

my friend is discovering fallout 4 for the first time
i love fallout 4. ive played that game to death and beyond. i know most details and all the endings and many of the quests and weapons and - yes im well aware of its problems, but i still enjoy it. i did enjoy it. ive moved on to other, better rpgs *cough cough baldurs gate 3 cough cough* and didnt think much of my beloved 1st person post apocalypse talking simulator. until my friend told me he got it and started playing it. for some reason i had already assumed he already played it but to my surprise, he knew nothing of the franchise. he had dabbled in skyrim for a bit, sure, but apparently he had no knowledge of bethesda's 2nd masterpiece. when i was in a voice call with him next, he of course, shared his screen so i could watch him stumble along the commonwealth, dying to bugs and raiders alike. he had gotten to the raider gang in the corvega assembly plant, the one in power armor and with a rocket launcher. i misremembered what the raider had and told my friend to beware the fat man. he didnt know what that was. he didnt know what the fatman was. thats when i realized something.
i had played fallout 4 for well over 400 hours, pretty low compared to other people but enough to where i can spew out random facts about that damn game. but my friend not knowing what the fatman was- the most iconic weapon in the fallout franchise- made me realize how fresh this is all to him. here is someone who is discovering this world with new eyes, not knowing a single thing abt the commonwealth or the minutemen or the shitty story or the repetive quests. when people wish to relive their favorite games in fresh eyes, they wish for this. here i was, as my friend's guide thru this junkpile of a game, seeing it thru new eyes once again. the thrill of discovery, smth i strive for but shy away from. im scared to try new things. i love my sameness. but that gets boring. it sure as hell gets boring. but not anymore.
i saw this as much when my friend stumbled upon covenant and i told him it was a good quest. i maybe shouldnt have even told him that but i wanted him to see it for himself and made sure he did it before it locked him out. he did the entry quiz, making a joke about how hes not getting let in and showed surprise when he was. now for me, i know u r let in no matter ur answer- a mix of irony w the whole synth test and also bethesda game design- so it was fun to see his shock. he walked around covenant and i suggested to him to get deezers lemonade. he tried to get infinite but sadly, all you get is what deezer has in stock. that started the quest and he was making comments about how sus the town was. yes! hes on the right track. he now had to track down a caravan and got mighty lost. i had to explain to him how quest markers work and surprisingly how to access his quest log. i guess its not all obvious to many. he had to leave shortly after but in dms he was telling me how he wanted to save a certain npc in covenant. my heart sank. bethesda doesnt work like that. if he turns against covenant, that npc that he loves will turn on him and he will be forced to kill her. idk if he has gotten that far in the quest line (i'll see later when he wakes up) but i dont want to imagine the disappointment.
thats what i realized with besthesda games. while they make great atmospheres and music and lore, the actual gameplay and rules are never clear. its not like baldurs gate where larian thought of every possible outcome for every quest. its more bethesda knows rpgs must have differing outcomes but doesnt understand what that means. when they market their games to be freedom of choice and play how you want and "see that mountain, you can climb that", it sets an expectation. an expectation they dont follow thru on. i hope this doesnt dissuade my friend from continuing. i think he will really enjoy some of the quests and especially power armor. he already decided to play for a power armor build. it would be very funny if he sided with the brotherhood of steel for his first run, as i did since i was a dumb kid and didnt understand the blatant military critique that it was. he might, as i did, think, big gun means fun time. thats perfectly fine. the factions in fallout 4 arent as deep philosophically as bethesda treats them to be.
all in all, watching my friend discover this great game for the first time has reminded me of my struggles with the game. he even had his first bugs due to modding. a bug i had similar issues with but we quickly solved. my hope for him is that he finds as much passion in the game as i do. theres a reason its in my top 5 games.

ok im not an rpf writer at all but i do want to contribute with niche AUs I have either written or workshopped bc i think i have some fun ones:
theatre technicians. specifically for lighting technicians.
haunted house employees/haunts/scare actors and company
various summer camp aus involving classics like outdoor safety n the continental usa, competitive shooting as an athletic sport some people did in high school (whoops), and keeping children from dying in a canoe in addition to oneself. characters are usually camp staff, but every now and then u let em be campers for fun.
recreational caving and hiking au. safety in the great outdoors is important gang. please listen to park staff telling u not do stuff.
oh slightly different from the theatre au was the shadowcast au for a rotating repertoire of various cult classic films and a few where the cast were the cult for the cult classic films.
the hilariously specific college aus involving the beef between all the student orgs on campus, but were really about party safety and the epic highs and lows of parties in college with a pretty okay-ish drunkard to drunkard-minder ratio. (weirdly, these also involved a lot of research into characters' degrees.)
dungeons and dragons gaming group aus.
photographer au that was secretly just about cameras and the process of creating a photograph and how one character viewed these things almost spiritually and the other one thought the idea of being the photographer was an inherent tragedy. will not say who won, because I lost.
moonshine running
ANON I’M GONNA EVAPORATE I LOVE THESE SO MUCH. SUMMER CAMP AU YOU’RE INFESTING ME WITH SO MANY IDEAS OMG ESP W LANDOSCAR AS CAMP COUNSELLORS IT’S PER-FEC-TION!!
HAUNTED HOUSE OH THAT ISALSO EXCELLENT
like i love all of these but omg i want to inhale them all then have them live in my bones until i’m ready to exhale them all out fully formed. also lol @ u saying you’re not a rpf writer cus baby… u r now…. u know da law (if you’re bold enough to think it you can probably write it).
anyway slide into my DMs fr anytime if you want to talk cus god (lewis hamilton) knows i could use the distraction.
i truly love all of these my gawd THEATRE LIGHTING 😭 it would work so well, i am having a parallel vision (charles: actor, max: director, lewis: artistic director, lando: also an actor, oscar: lighting tech, guanyu: wardrobe, alex: set design, george: marketing & sponsorships, yuki: sound etc etc)
also MOONSHINE RUNNERS? i need you to elaborate 🗣️🎤

in honor of totk NOT winning goty 🫡 here is my notes app from when totk first came out and I wrote all my thoughts abt the game down
-
today totk got released!! and I played for 8 hours straight 😭 I'm not suuper far in the game yet, I sort of just started the rito quest with tulin, but here are some things I love and dislike about the game so far:
first of all I love the archaic outfit 😊 however I'm very sad that it only does 1 protection because I wanted to wear it all the time AJDBAJDB
I love everything about the zonai, like the way they look, the music associated with them, the way they talk at the end of a shrine, the way you can tell something is of zonai make just by looking at it, like that's how you know a concept design is well done ✋ I'm so fascinated by how rauru looks, he's just so amazing
I do hate how extremely similar aspects of the great sky island are to the great plateau, though. "room of awakening" bro r u serious rn 😭 the way rauru follows you around like the king good bye. I just feel like this could have been done a little more uniquely so that it didn't feel like the great plateau with a texture pack slapped over it
there's also some things that I felt botw just did so much better than totk. like the way rauru's ghost would disappear felt very cheap and uneventful, like why does he just fade to 0 opacity and nothing else happens ?? at least with the king his ghost faded with the little blue flames and sparkles, it made it seem more interesting
I hate the inventory layout I'm sawryy 😭 the botw inventory looks very sleek and easy to comprehend, but the way the totk inventory is designed just feels very cheap and elementary to me. not the scrolling on one page instead of having multiple pages, that's not my issue. just the color design and how so much more information is crowded into each tiny box when you are selling things, it just confuses the player with too much info
uhh what else. oh! I also hate the animation for when you get the abilities at the beginning, and when you get those lights of blessing or whatever (honestly I hate that name too, why is it so long I literally can't remember it 😭). like why do the orbs with the abilities and blessings look so 2d and unfinished? they look like they were slapped on top as a fanmade effect rather than actually being a part of the game, and every time I see it, I feel removed from being immersed in the games because it's distracting
but I totally love the way the zonai statues are at the end of the shrines!!! the way they talk is SO 🙏🙏 like I'm totally obsessed with it. also!! this is very specific, but I love the music that plays during shrine battles, like why does that song go so hard fr
omg something else I love is the pony points system it's so cute 😭✋ and honestly it's a great incentive for me to use the stables, I don't think I used them that much in botw so I definitely appreciate this new addition
AND MY HORSES ARE HERE TOO IM SO HAPPY 🥺🥺
however I am devastated that we can't pet dogs ☹️ like was no one at nintendo listening to us when we were all asking abt it hello ??
this is more of a personal preference rather than a game quality thing but I AM SO HAPPY THERE'S PIRATES IN THIS GAME AAAAAAA i can't wait to go to lurelin village I rlly hope they let me join the pirates 🙏 (hi it's me from the future here, girl wtf why are the pirates literally just MONSTERS ON BOATS 🙁 give me real fucking pirates you cowards)
omg yeah I was obsessed with the frozen rito village ost, it had the core elements of the ost from botw but with that lonely haunted vibe and I was gonna cry omg it really set the mood and I loved listening to it 😭
ohh yeah something I didn't enjoy was how it felt like I was being overloaded with so much plot-heavy info, especially once I started the rito village quest. like yeah I get maybe playing for 8 hours in one day is probably gonna fry my brain and attention span but it just felt like they were telling me to do all these things and I just felt so overwhelmed that I literally had to put the game away and stop playing for the night 😭 I think if things were spaced out more for what they tell you then the plot might have been more digestible
oh yeah this is minor but I don't like how when you go to a new place it says "discovery!" and also when you cook a new food it says "new!" like it felt very commercial and broke the immersion in the game for me, there was literally no reason for it to be in the game? (upon playing the game further I've decided I don't mind the "discovery" notif. but I still don't like when it says "new!" on a food I cooked sorryyy)
OMG WAIT SOMETHING I LOVED was how link cycles through humming different things when he cooks!!! it's so cute and I love him for it 😭
also I loved the function of when you open a chest and get a weapon but your inventory is full, instead of having to close the chest drop a weapon and reopen the chest, they added the feature where your inventory pops up and you can drop a weapon while still in the chest so you don't have to switch back and forth. it was so relieving for me ✋
umm I definitely feel like there was more I wanted to say, I just forgot 😭 but let me just say, despite me having a lot of negatives on here, I still really enjoyed this game, and honestly aside from the things I mentioned I disliked, I love pretty much everything else about the game!! there's so much to love and appreciate, I really can't list it all or else I'd just be listing literally every aspect about this game ajdhskfj. so yeah. while I'm disappointed that I found parts of totk to be lesser than what I had hoped, I am still overall ecstatic about this game and I'm so excited to see what else I'll discover in this game!!!! (hey it's me as of writing this post, I definitely wrote this last paragraph to avoid getting bullied for not liking a lot of things LOLL)
hey I'm back (not as of writing this post, like a couple months after initially starting totk), listen ok I hate these stupid sage powers like 💀 they're literally not useful at all, I think tulin's is the only one I use regularly, and even then I'd rather have revali's gale bc at least it goes up ??
I've been watching other ppl play and I realize that actually yunobo and riju can kinda be useful when fighting large groups, like if you just activate yunobi's ability you don't really need to aim him, and he'll hit a bunch of monsters. same with riju, just activate her and shoot somewhere random and it'll do damage. but other than that, like sidon and mineru are useless 😭 also I get rlly annoyed when I'm trying to pick things up and tulin gets in the way like GIRL GO AWAY ugh it would just be so much better if the abilities were activated like the champions instead idk
ok I'm obsessed with the way rauru's ear twitches LOLL THAT'S SO RANDOM but in the memories it's just so satisfying to see
hm idk how to explain this but there's some aspects of this game that feel very aoc to me and it annoys me. like, the defend kara kara bazaar + gerudo village quests, and that one thing in hateno with the stupid pumpkins, idk but it totally threw me off guard with having to fight with npcs, like it felt very jarring to have in the middle of totk. i never liked aoc or any hyrule warriors games so that's probably why I don't like this very much, but yeah I just didn't enjoy it very much
god I can't describe how much I hate everything abt mineru I'm sorry I just hate her bc like,, bro I hate to say it but I never connected with her character at all. every part of her in the storyline felt forced, and her connection to zelda and the sages never felt authentic. also I hate the eng voice acting like why does she talk like that 😭
her talking about draconification felt sooo forced. she said "there are stories of eating the stone to turn into an immortal dragon" like that could be a solution, then when rauru asked if they could do that, she was like "however 🤓☝️ you'll lose your sense of self and it's forbidden. I thought this would give us an answer but maybe not 😞" like BITCH IF YOU KNEW IT WAS FORBIDDEN WHY WOULD YOU SAY ANYTHING 😭😭 the way she said it, it sounded like she was reading a book and learning this information as they went, which would make sense why she brought it up but turns out it won't work. BUT SHE KNEW THE FULL THING ALREADY WHY DID SHE SAY IT LIKE THAT???? god it annoyed me so much, it was such a bad foreshadowing plot point
and honestly her entire quest confused me, bc the whole first part has a very thunder/lightning theme so I thought her power would be related to that but it wasn't at all? like how come we didn't do anything spirit related meanwhile all the other sages had areas that related to their powers, ugh it felt so dumb. lightning is already heavily associated with riju + the gerudo, so it felt weird that they themed the whole first half of mineru's quest around it too.
I hate her stupid construct. IT'S SO LAME 😭 has anyone actually enjoyed fighting with it. has it actually benefitted anyone. like be so fr rn. I hated it so much that I built a freaking airbike and just flew to the final temple without fighting any of the stuff along the way bc I refuse to be forced to do things I don't like 🫶
and then at the end of the game when her spirit leaves her construct and she dies or whatever, I was just like 😐 they tried to make it emotional but literally mineru is my worst enemy and I was cheering and applauding atp. like I could care less. her character felt, idk how to describe it, like.. cringy and self-inserty? something about it felt very off to me and so I was just never able to like her. it felt like nintendo was trying to force me to like her and I was Not about to let that happen
hang on I have other things to complain about... oh yeah the STABLE TROTTER CONDUCTOR LIKE BRO 😭😭😭 why does he sound like mario, like I actually want to punch him in the face. the rest of the band is fine tho, I like their music 🤞
hm something I'm annoyed about is how much harder it is to find the dragons now. in botw their flight pattern was more predictable, but here like istg I can never find them when I need them 😭 it's just vv inconvenient
-
ok I'm back back. I think that about covered all my thoughts BUT one more thing. the map is so fucking cluttered. something that was done so well with botw was the openness of everything, it really fit the vibes and it immersed you in the expanse of the game. but the totk map was WAYY too busy 😭😭 not only with the purah pad map (which btw I still think sheikah slate is a better name) but just in general when you're walking around hyrule. there is Too Much going on and I don't like it
LAST THING although tbh this could be a whole separate rant. the way the purah pad is compatible with zonai technology makes no fucking sense???? like there is NO logical explanation for how it can mark waypoints at zonai shrines
in botw it made sense, because the shrines were sheikah-made and so was the slate, so ofc the sheikah would have built them to be compatible and programmable with one another. but the zonai shrines??? first of all they're just rocks on sand. no sort of technology the purah pad can latch onto. second, you activate the shrine with the ZONAI ARM, not the purah pad. literally no connection is made. this is such a small thing to fixate on but every time I think about it I am filled with inexplicable rage
I have a whole OTHER rant on why the sheikah tech disappearing makes literally No Sense but. this post is long enough as it is. if u want I can make a separate post but I think this is good enough for now 🤗

prev anon here– yeah, i think that it's rly difficult to find a happy medium when it comes to standards because u don't want to constantly put ur partner on a pedestal, but u def wanna make sure ur not mistreated either.
as for what u said abt dating sims influencing the way we see ourselves, it rly can be soo harmful sometimes. i remember playing mystic messenger back in the day and the cg photos of the love interests with u (the mc) all portray u as this skinny pale girl with long hair. i think stuff like that can rly influence young ppl's worth because then u think "oh, this kind of person can only love me if i fit x bill" u know?
anyways, i'm glad lots of dating sims r being inclusive when it comes to pronouns these days. the arcana was the first one i'd ever played that did that!
I agree with your thoughts on the CGs about Mystic Messenger. That's why I loved how The Arcana's CGs had the love interest facing the screen and interacting with the viewer rather than a sit-in character. Ikemen Vampire falls in with the same problems as Mystic Messenger, but I at least appreciated that MM covered MC's eyes and most of her face so you could imagine that. I do feel the pressure from a lot of dating sims like Mystic Messenger, Ikemen Vampire, Code: Realize, and Piofiore: Fated Memories (Nintendo/Switch) to fit a certain set of characteristics. MM doesn't have this problem as much, but the others in the list tend to have a rather passive MC who doesn't stand up for herself a lot. I do not like the message that teaches people espeically minors. It is okay to be shy, but you shouldn't let people walk all over you or just follow blindly what others tell you just because you think they are hot. I do appreicate the rise of inclusive dating sims like The Arcana and Our Life: Beginnings and Always (Steam/PC); however, a lot of dating sims (espeically those from outside of the US) are not like that. Most dating sims are targeting cis women in their 20's to 30's. They sometimes just design them to be hot and play out a fantasy like My Bulter (cheap game on the Switch). My favorite dating sim that challenges the idea of dating your love interest is Bustafellows because it highlights how your love interest isn't perfect and still has flaws. (Piofore does touch on this, but that is a whole can of worms.) I also loved that about The Arcana as well. I really loved how their flaws weren't played off as a fetish or haha funny quirky. (One of the problems I have with Isaac's, Jean's, and Dazai's in Ikemen Vampire.) Oh boy, this reminded me of my thoughts on mental illness in dating sims and a bunch more of topics. Thank you so much, Anon, for your reply and this wonderful discussion!

//holds a microphone up to u. tell me about the slay the princess/eden brainworms.
i am RIPPING the microphone out of your hand and marching up to the front of the stage to tell everyone about the brainworms. none of you will be spared. this is what you have wrought. you've let the world ending princess out of the basement now.
but also. massive Slay The Princess spoilers below. seriously, this is gonna spoil the whole deal of what the Princess actually is, and it's really the sort of game you should go into reasonably blind, you won't regret it. It's hot among indie horror let's players atm I think, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a playthrough.
But then again I'm not your dad so just know you've been warned.
first of all: the princess' final form/The Shifting Mound takes cues from the iconography of hindu deities, or at least seems to. if the reference was unintentional I'll be genuinely surprised (this isn't an accusation of appropriation or anything - Hinduism isn't a closed religion, and I actually think the reference fits with the Shifting Mound and the princess' many forms' whole situation, so it's just a cool detail). it will be informing my inner picture of eden's true form during their "glory days" (before plague and giving up the Keystone and most of their power) from now on.
but the whole deal of like... the princess (and the many forms she can take) being the fragmented essence of a deity of change who was feared because she also represents death is like holy cow! edencore! they're essentially a deity with a fragmented memory, a multifaceted domain, and diminished existence! they don't represent chaos but nature can be kinda similar, in themes if not aesthetics. and especially like... in the fear of something ultimately natural, like death. and how that fear isn't unfounded or unreasonably, but when taken too far, it inflicts disaster on the world.
eden too is a shapeshifter. mostly in that they have animal forms, but i think emotionally, they're a mimic - and that's the source of a lot of their apparent volatility. if someone's kind to them, they'll be downright magnanimous right back. if someone antagonizes them, they'll be bitchy in turn and they won't be the one to de-escalate or stop holding the feud first. that tbh. that sort of thing is the driving force behind The Princess' shifting forms imo. she is a creature of perception, you are what you make her, but I find she responds in kind to whatever you, the protagonist, do. if you imprison her, she seeks to imprison you. if you betray her, she'll betray you when you're the one with the exposed back. but if you love her, she'll love you back. cuts both ways.
also like... the world the game takes place in. the construct. i kind of want to make something like that as like, a dream of eden or another powerful figure? maybe one of the Devatas' past schemes to get Eden away from The Verdant Haven permanently was to trap them in that sort of dream realm, a forever-repeating, mutating, airtight story-realm. obviously that didn't work. this is where the brainworms are taking me in terms of setting and backstory design.
and also... this isn't about main verse eden. in fact, it's about their original verse, a soulslike-inspired hindu mythology-based setting where Eden was the dying, comatose god who all plant life depended on, and Vayu/Yuya was the protagonist trying to revive them. And I made this years, before I ever knew about Slay The Princess, but by sheer coincidence, Yuya <--> Eden what the protagonist <--> The Princess in slay the princess in terms of metaphysics: separated fragments of the same whole. someone who reccomended the game to me actually said after I played it and rambled at him that he partly reccomended it to me because it reminded him of vayuden a little. and man. that made me ecstatic.
anyway this is not nearly the full extent of the brainworms, just the brainworms I could put to words. you understand. thank you thank you for indulging me.

1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12 for Borderlands
[From this !] Thank u for the ask now I get to practice my VIOLENCE
1- The character everyone gets wrong
Hate hate hate hate hate how so many people write Rhys. Rhys is a character who's whole appeal {personally} is that he is very much Just Some Fucking Guy. Before the stories of Tales happened, Rhys was just some random dude who wanted to make it big, and afterwards, when he gets the opportunity to, he's still Majorly not his own person. He's influenced by the player in a meta sense, but also by Ugly John. This guy's identity is based off what the situation demands and what other people expect of him, and yet no one ever seems to acknowledge it, favoring instead his fucked up relationship with H.J as the sole atribute of his character [and this WILL pop up later trust me].
The guy has potential and the game acknowledges it (by the games own words, he rebuilt Atlas, became the CEO and even invented some cool new tech along the way), but he is NOT ALL THAT and I'm TIRED of people acting like there is that much substance to him. Just say you want the white men to kiss, stop putting on different hats on this guy and acting like hes all that
4- What was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?
Moxxi slander. I swear, anyone who says Mad Moxxi is "annoying" or "a bitch" is 20% of the time a misogynist and 80% of the time a Handsome Jack sympathizer who thinks that she should've had some pity on The Active Space War Criminal. And this person did exactly that so yk how it is
6- Which ship fans are most annoying ?
Rhack shippers. No doubt. Partly because of my own personal gripes with how this dude is characterized {see: number 1}, but also because it's genuinely just so boring 😭 you can write this ship a thousand different ways but ultimately it boils down to "We need these white men to kiss" and nothing else. Also the whole "this guy manipulated this other guy for the entire time they interacted and then tried to kill him" thing.
8- Common fandom opinion everyone is wrong about.
There's nobody who is good in this game I'm sorry to all apologists out there but all these guys suck ass. This isn't a competition about who's most morally correct it's about who your favorite criminal is ok
9- Worst part of canon.
The way they don't expand on lore, not even a little 😔 Please just tell me how ancient eridian people got their hands on an Atlas gun all of a sudden. Or at least tell me something about Sirens. How does the magic in this universe even happen. For the love of God HOW did Pandora GET LIKE THAT how is anyone there LIVING. PLEASE just CRUMBS OF INFORMATION you can't have me guessing everything you're presenting !!
+ How they don't expand on characters. Like come on let me hang out with these guys they're so cool :(
12- The Unpopular character you actually like and why more people should like them.
Tannis Tannis Tannis I love you cringe fail autistic woman. I don't see nearly enough appreciation for her. Matter of fact, I see a lot of people hating on my girl like :[ Leave her alone. Here's my comprehensive list of reasons why you should actually like Patricia Tannis.
1- So smart. She seems to be one of the only 5 people who know anything about the setting and who actively tell you about related history. She's one of the only sources of knowledge on Eridian culture we have in-game, which means this also extends over to Sirens, magic and the vaults. Relevant stuff yk !!! /// 2- She's COOL LOOKING okay. Her design is more down to earth and restrained compared to other characters, and it makes her stick out a little more imo. It's also just wonderfully practical which fits for her being a researcher and scientist. /// 2.5- Girl... pretty... /// 3- This woman is so autistic have I mentioned that yet. Because she is. She unfortunately does fall in some pitfalls in terms of stereotypes {I.E: nerdy personality with tendencies to be rude to people, the whole facts and logic thing, etc} but also damn she is so relatable. I too feel nauseous at the thought of a social interaction but still actively crave to have conversations with other people. I also struggle coming up with words at the time of most need. I too have like 3 people who actively take me places and make me feel comfortable (SEE: Roland, Lilith, the VH in some cases). I too humanize objects and talk to them because of loneliness. That's so true. She's so real for that.

hi clari! this is so random but what about screenwriting and film in particular draw u to it? i always found it so interesting how people develop interests and how for some those change frequently and others not so much
feel free to ignore this lol
hi anon! (´∀`)♡ oooh good question! well my first love has always been literature—i read (and wrote!) like a maniac as a kid—so i always consider film (and screenwriting) my second love. i developed my love for film when i was 15 years old, in my high school film class! idk it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what draws me towards film because i love every single aspect of it, but i think one of the big reasons i love it is because it combines multiple art forms (same can be argued for video games! and theatre to a lesser extent); writing, photography (cinematography; framing, shot scale, camera movement, camera angle, blocking, lenses, etc), acting, music, illustration if it’s an animated film, editing in and of itself is an art (the shots + takes chosen, the way they are specifically arranged, the duration of them, the transitions, the colour grading and colour correcting—all of this helps convey meaning in a particular way decided upon by the editor + the director), fashion + costume design, set design, etc etc the list goes on. and it all comes together in this beautiful way to not only create something new, but something that is such a collaborative art piece. you can technically make a film on your own, obv, especially if it’s an art or avant-garde film, but it’s quite hard to make a fully narrative film entirely on your own. you need other people and you need other people with expertise in all areas of art, and i think it’s so beautiful that these people will come together to create something! film in and of itself is a celebration of art in general, of art in all forms and types.
more specifically, i like screenwriting as a mode of storytelling because it more often than not focuses on the characters (character driven stories are my favourite type of stories); the characters tell us SO much even if the story is more plot driven than character driven, and the show don’t tell rule is heavy heavy heavy in film + screenwriting, especially since it’s a visual art. when you write for film, you are using almost solely dialogue (a few actions and directions but 90% or so is dialogue unless u write like wes anderson) to convey a story. that’s fucking hard, but it’s so rewarding when you get it right.

misc thoughts on horizon forbidden west a trillion years later
huge mixed bag of a game for me. some parts were very interesting, and sometimes i was having a ton of fun, and then other times it felt like an absolute chore to bother continuing. i played the first, i don't know, 3rd of the game on normal mode and was enjoying the level of challenge and then eventually hit a point where i was impatient, switched over to story to push through, and was never able to leave story because i'd start dying immediately
part of this is probably because the of the update gear mechanic which. god. i can't be assed. it is too much work honestly lmao, convoluted, etc. overall it felt like the game added a lot of stuff for the sake of Adding Stuff... and in the process it also nerfed a bunch of my fave weapons from HZD. tripwires and traps are useless now. why would i want something that is way more likely to hurt *me* in battle. why did aloy forget how to whistle. i could barely keep track of valor surge let alone remember stamina and whatever else lol
the story too kept having ups and downs.
-varl/zo was such nonsense LMAO i'm sorry wtf... if varl was going to die why not let him and aloy have their little UST thing up until that point? why introduce a brand new character and be like "after trailing aloy for six months he met zo for two minutes and is in love. Also zo is pregnant :)" come on
-erend don't touch me. get off me. ugh. ew
-the far zenith stuff was so strange... i was interested in the lore but every time one of them turned up it just seemed like a different game was happening, lol. like i know the Point of their design was to look so different from everyone else but it just felt odd to me. when they showed up the first time I was like ????? lmao. In general the Zeniths felt ... like... we spent all this time learning to take out their shields and then we fought 1 of them.
-at first i also thought it was stupid they were literally the same people, immortalized. but it DID give me the opportunity to have tilda, who was easily a high point in the game, so whatever i guess
-tilda! you're crazy. i love you. lmfao. I feel like they underutilized her. I can roll w the obsessive love stuff but wish we'd gotten a bit more... I also felt like the way they set up her betrayal was everyone telling me "She's gonna betray us", to the point that I was expecting her to not do so because that would be more surprising, lmao. Sylens got the actual interesting character turn in that regard
-it felt hard to take any satisfaction in the end of the game's "successes" when the last 20 minutes suddenly introduced Threequel Villain and spent time hyping them up as the next existential threat. if I was supposed to enjoy my victory I didn't really bc I was like "okay and now the next thing..." they wanted some sense of triumph and Community and I didn't really feel that. although I guess I did feel we veered back into climate allegory so... fine... I suppose
-the ending stuff being about Community but not involving any NPCs from HZD except erend was off to me. :/ miss u varl. why isn't talanah here. or petra. or... etc

ok so i finally had to put down symphony of the night [battery v low] and so ill wright up my thoughts
i love it. [wow big news]
first: alucards fuking hair flip. i love it. it makes me grin evry time i see it so when im just walking im grinning like an idiot.
Tumblr media
look at it! dramatic ass. also the cape- its beautiful, my respect for this is threefold- one fabric is a pain in the ass to draw, two animation is hard, THREE pixel art requires alot of skill cause half the power is in suggestion and making the vewer fill in the blanks.
[the simple design where you can tell whats what, use of diff tones to show shadows, it has a logic[?] to it, you can tell where everything is and it all makes sense, even at the speed]
so yea that cape is amazing and im p sure the animators sold their sould to someone for that alone [im also p sure the whole of konami sold their souls for the game]
music- absolutely amazing. love it.
set designs- fuking glorious, i love the stairwells in the coliseum the most, the way they use pixels to imply/show roundness is *chefs kiss* but the rest of the coliseum is also lovely, the depth they get in some areas
also love the way the patterns are shown of in the stairwells [or i finally get the chance to admire them, 50/50]
but also the themes of each area are great- not so different you get too much whiplash, but the areas are clearly defined,
also it realy encourages you to explore every nook and cranny! its v intuitive [some places i was being dumb, u know the teleport room? i teleported a ton but dident realise and thought i needed higher mana and the ashey stuff was showing it failed. then i walked out and wondered how the f u teleported]
sotn is def at the top of my fav games now, fun to play/amazing music AND an artistic masterpiece, i know often older games are put down cause the "lower quality" but sotn shows just what you can do with it, it might just be cause im an artist but every part of the game has a beauty to it, just a much as the official art!

I know music aus are overdone for Ed and Izzy and their crew pre-Stede (or at least that particular au is pretty well saturated for both pre and with Stede) but
(very rambly au talking below the cut involving a fic draft I'm working on rn. I attempted to make this slightly easier to parse by italicising my Additional Thoughts and putting them into their own paragraphs and brackets but. There's a lotta love for this au and it's late so this is messy, bear with me while I babble excitedly.)
I'm really loving dipping back into the one I started for AU-gust and adding onto it with other bands. Like, I'm finally writing this one particular Dethklok/Queen Anne's Revenge
(placeholder band name for Ed, Izzy, Fang, and Ivan bc it does fuck as a band name in a weird way since I see them being like. purposefully subversive with it? in terms of lyrics/things sung about/album artwork/etc. Like, y'all remember the chants at football games when the queen died last year or whenever that happened I don't remember and fuck looking it up bc. I don't give a fuck abt the royals lmao? Lizzie's in box? that's the vibe for anything for them when they get political, v punk and fuck the state which is entirely too reductive for how much More I have in ideas for this sphere of things for them but that's not what this post was meant to be about so i finally digress-)
idea wherein they play a show with Dethklok, specifically water-themed. All the water/ocean/mermaid/pirates/etc things like that songs that both bands have are on the setlist, and. And. Dethklok, as the hosting band
(aka Charles needed to clean things up and distract from the latest spate of accidental concert deaths, and QAR's current management in the form of one shithead extraordinaire Ben Hornigold doesn't give two fucks about what he signs them up for as long as he gets the biggest cut out of it, so he doesn't even appreciate that like. the world's most famous band and their manager approached them, an also v famous but not as famous considering this is now an AU where Queen, Dethklok, QAR, and other musicians/bands are all hobknobbing far more than they ever might irl thing, band. Without any reason. Just chose them at random. If u thought Ben was bad in canon I'm somehow making him even more insufferable and shit in this au, he's just Bad At His Job but stumbles into success on Ed, Izzy, Fang, and Ivan's talents. Whatever, off topic AGAIN but I just have so much I love and wanna talk about with this au-)
Set up a new sort of pit/stage design. The operating idea is a clear, aquarium like tank or pool, where the fans can float and headbang away, all while feeling like fishes themselves! It's very clever, you see, and definitely won't result in anyone drowning when it turns into a mosh tsunami
(spoiler alert: it is clever, but not really, and so many people are gonna drown. Luckily, in this fic Metalocalypse logic applies bc only Dethklok and QAR are involved, so they can bask in that universe's ability to kill people constantly as part of Dethklok's Whole Thing without it being a big deal, though this is from Izzy's POV and a big part of it is him realising that and coming to terms with it as they play through people just. Literally headbanging hard enough into violently sloshing water to drown themselves, with a smile on their face because they got to see Dethklok, finally.)
Also Murderface is the opener as one-man Planet Piss and it goes so poorly for him and Izzy and Ed are just. So mildly grossed out by how it goes down and sweetly concerned. Someone get that kid some therapy, a hug, and please tell him to stop pissing on the crowd as part of his Planet Piss act (He will not.)
My working setlist thus far because of course I've got the fucking setlist (though since QAR doesn't...actually exist, I'm just giving them songs by other rock/metal/grunge/punk acts I like that have songs with fitting themes/lyrics for this show. As such D=Dethklok song, QAR/(insert name of band that actually plays the song irl) on these):
1.Murmaider-D
2. Murmaider II-D
3. Murmaider III-D
4. A History of Bad Men-QAR/Melvins (not exactly on theme, but it's peak early canon edizzy vibes for me, so in this au it's just like. one of their always played songs, every show, no matter what.)
5. Flying Whales-QAR/Gojira
6. Black Waters-QAR/Avatar
7. Go Into the Water-D
8. Capsized-QAR/Kyuss (an instrumental to try and uh. give the Klokateers time to get a big fucking net and get out the already dead audience members. Keep the vibes going but not make it too weird with the...everything, going on lmao)
9. unsure yet bc it needs to bring the energy back without it being Weird, and that's a delicate balance...so probably something else by Brendan Small. I'll eventually post this playlist, probably, but for now. In progress just for this fic special little playlist listing.

I know some people are happier with more sunlight & good for them. But im not one of them i dont like when its bright still so late & hot on top of that. Ah yeah thats a sentiment some fate players would echo because they got some uh. Bad character outfit designs. Ooh i love me a game with some horrors cant wait to play that. I hope your irl horros clear up so you can enjoy the game. I havent yet partially because busy but other part because im waiting til it comes to playstation. Though if thats much longer i may just play on my phone. What are patatas bravas & why does it use so much onion? And how was your festival?
sorry for the wait..... i was. In alicante. very fun btw i can tell u more ab that if u wanna! and YEAH i agree..... like dont get me wrong the sun is nice but we do Not need more of it. esp in summer. ah im not into fate but yeah ive heard ab that.... and yes yes i love it sm. and thankies!! and oh absolutely fair, as u know im pc only but yeah i hope u get to play it soon!!! its SO good omg. still having so much fun tbh [havent finished the storyline yet bc of Trips but im working on it]. and patatas bravas are a traditional spanish dish, basically baked [or cooked? i looked at many recipes and it seems to differ so im really Not Sure] potatoes in paprika sauce. Very Good. the onion also depends on what recipe youre using but i was mostly Hurt bc we have a fairly small kitchen so youre constantly next to it even if doing sth else. and the festival was VERY fun!! got a chance to hang out with this one guy from my class that i always wanted to befriend but never got the chance to. did some silly pics. ate a lot of food. got to dress up as walter white [they had a whole set u could use for photos ajjdkfjgjg] generally very cool!

Hi! Have you finished RE4R yet? And if you have, what did you think?
Hey anon I just want to thank you for always talking RE with me :,) <3 it does make my day better when I see an ask
in short, I did enjoy it and am still enjoying it! More in-depth and spoiler ramblings below the cut
I did finish it over the weekend and I really like it! They cut that bastard U-3 out and not a single tear was shed over it lmao
the game is gorgeous, the puzzles were actually fun imo, they’re simple but I enjoyed doing them lol, level design ✨ flawless ✨
I have small issues with it tho, like Leon’s movement in gameplay and how they scuffed my man Ramon Salazar. In the OG he was such a presence in all his wacky glory and in the remake I hardly remembered him after I was done, he’s one of my favorites from the OG 4 so it did bum me out that I don’t even have a memorable line that sticks out from him in the remake
Overall, it’s really fun and that’s all that matters! Now I’m enjoying getting money so I can buy and upgrade every weapon :D (which reminds me of RE5 btw)
The typewriter storage in re4r serves as a base inventory like in 5 so you can keep and improve ALL weapons available, it’s such a nice upgrade from OG 4 I just wish it was even more like 5 so we could store ammo and herbs and resources
And I have to talk about how much RE5 I see in RE4r because there’s so much! The fact that they extended AI companions, especially Luis where he can set you up for melees and vice versa with him, it screams re5 and I loved when he and Leon bantered mid combat and he would tell you when he had a guy ready to melee down
Ashley isn’t so much involved in combat but in cutscenes she’s so adamant about being a team with Leon, that’s such a re5 move honestly capcom lol sheva says the same thing to Chris to bring them together when Chris is trying to tell her about his personal stake in the mission
Of course the exploration in the boat and CHICKEN ISLAND!! Like that’s a level ripped right out of re5 lol It’s way more optional in re4r but it’s still there and you can find a weapon on an abandoned boat (red 9 pistol) in re5 you can find an rpg on an abandoned boat
The final cutscene with Ada and Wesker gave me such weird feelings!!! Like I was excited to see wesker but the voice bro…. I don’t enjoy his voice (I didn’t like Ada’s either. I think Leon and Luis had the best voice acting) I saw a picture showing Wesker’s computer screen which had the progenitor flower garden in the cave and excella and CHRIS REDFIELD (in his winter gear from revelations) so there was nothing new but it was still so cool to see and whether the next remake is code Veronica or Re5 I think it’s very likely it’s one of those two and either way I win 😈
I also want to say how much I LOVED the Krauser subplot, my only complaint about it is I wish there was more! His fights and the arc between him and Leon were so so so good it kills me
I got the feeling that krauser was more than just an asshole, he’s an asshole who cared, he couldn’t let go of his past, his fallen men. He wanted power and revenge and he cared so much about every man he ever trained, especially Leon. His end was so fitting and I know he was proud of Leon and that gave him peace before his end
Krauser is a bad guy, but he’s a bad guy I like 😆
If you played the game did you enjoy it? Did you like the newer interpretations of all the characters? Are you looking forward to mercenaries? :)

I’m regards to ur pk post: u are 100% right. The situation was v complicated and he probably went down as many avenues as he possibly could before getting to the vessels. We still don’t know a lot abt the situation. We also don’t know how having to treat hollow, his literal child, like a weapon could have affected him. All in all: he’s a 3D character and going “he is a Bad Person let’s Hate Him” because of limited information isn’t the way to go
Yea. One thing about Hollow Knight I like is that the characters are fleshed out with their own personalities, hidden motivations and ideals, even though we don’t fully get to know each of them. None of them feel like 2D caricatures masquerading as beings. Yes even those asshole or jokey characters kinda have some depth to them.
I actually find that very reflective of real life. Even when you spend time with the people around you, you won’t ever truly understand or comprehend the kind of person they are, but only come up with your interpretation of them.
Somehow the game gives a lot of information and doesn’t at the same time. We only obtain certain bits and pieces throughout our exploration of Hallownest, enough to kinda get the general gist of the whole picture, but not enough to get all the details.
Another interesting thing about Hollow Knight is how the events of the game didn’t come about due to one character. It’s a combination of factors that caused the eventual fall of the kingdom. The people heavily involved can certainly take some of the blame aka the Radiance and the Pale King, but not all of it.
Even though the Radiance was the one who caused the Infection to come about in the first place, her motivations for it were kind of understandable. Once you get the idea what she has gone through (aka worshipped then got abandoned by your followers, losing power to the point of existing as a mere concept in the dream realm), it’s very hard to say that she’s the actual bad guy of the situation given her anger is justified in a sense, even though she’s literally the final boss we beat up in the game. However, it certainly wasn’t right to take her anger out on the rest of the innocent population that weren’t involved in her abandonment and drag them into the conflict. It’s complex.
The same thing here goes for the pale king, and heck we don’t even interact with the guy directly. We can only get clues from the remnants of Hallownest and the people that have been affected by his decisions as the ruler. Yes he DID technically took away the Radiance’s worshippers, but we don’t know for sure whether he had bad intentions or ANY intention of doing so. From what I can grasp, he seemed to be a ruler who tried to be responsible and keep his kingdom running.
All the horrendous actions he made were mostly his responses to handle the infection, which was a pretty BIG fucking problem that no one knew how to solve. Yes, getting his children influenced by void on purpose and then only picking the one out of all as a vessel to contain the infection was very questionable, but it was done only as a response TO the infection. The pale king here was grasping straws for a solution and as a ruler he was pushed by time. Like the Radiance, he prob could have done things in a better way, but…yea look it’s very fucking complicated.
Because the situation is not so clear cut as it seems, despite knowing the general events, we cannot truly pinpoint who was the one really at fault for the whole mess. Yes the characters involved in it like the Radiance and Pale King prob could have done better but in hindsight it was a very fucked up situation, and a situation NO ONE asked to deal with. Look obviously you can’t actually expect people to come up with perfect or workable solutions to an imminent problem on the scale of the fucking plague. There’s bound to be mistakes because between the limited info we have, there’s only so much we can do with it. That’s the nature of life.
Pardon the word vomit reeeeeeeee there’s so much about the game that makes me wanna sit down and dig as much lore as I can out of it. The game is just THAT awesome. And yes i like the way you think, dear anon. It’s hard to truly judge someone when you don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle and kinda mean to assume the worst out of them outright.
