Anyone wanna play D&D with me?
So the recruitment for Candle Campaign 1 didn't go well ... lovely new player but then a sudden change in circumstances after a month of playing with us.
Which means I am on the recruitment drive again therefore ...
I am looking to recruit 1 player to come into an established campaign to replace a player who had to leave.
Sessions are 7:30-10:30pm UTC every other Wednesday and you would be the 5th member of the party. The party have been together in some iteration for 4 years and have been pretty consistent in play. We play if 4 people are able to make it (3 if it is a low stakes session or we have already delayed) and try to reschedule any missed sessions.
We play on discord using theatre of the mind and some shoddily drawn battlemaps.
The party are level 14 (but about to level up) and are made up of a Mastermind Rogue/Satire Bard multiclass, Aberrant Mind Sorcerer, Zealot Barbarian, Knowledge Cleric/Scribes Wizard multiclass. This means that we are pretty balanced in terms of party comp so any type of character will be considered.

There’s this super cool TTRPG called “10 Candles” that I ran a few Halloweens back for some friends that I can’t recommend enough!
The basic mechanic is that the GM = “Them,” the world’s antagonist who will cause the fall of humanity, and the Players = characters who, by the end of the story, will die. Gameplay begins with ten lit tea candles that symbolize ten rounds of storytelling or “chapters.” Players also begin the game with ten 6-sided dice that they roll for narrative control of the story. At the end of a chapter, a candle is dimmed and one of those ten dice is removed from the players’ pool and given to the GM. The pattern continues until the GM has the majority of the dice and therefore the majority of control over the game’s narrative, leading to the victory on the part of “Them,” and the ultimate Armageddon for the players. The game is over when the last candle goes out. If a candle goes out early, it expedites the story/ end of the world.
It’s a great game to play around Halloween and it’s been emotional every time I have played! There are more mechanics than I’ve detailed (like players having cards they can burn - physically burn- it’s metal as fuck - to reroll their narrative dice, etc.) but this is basically how it works! There are some offered modules but I always put my spin on whatever story module anyway, so I played a homebrewy version of the 80′s-era Midnight Cabin module.
I decided to make “Them” a hot new boy band music track that, once you hear it, makes you go insane. So, the party was trying to avoid hearing the song that was turning their community into people annihilators or just trying to avoid said crazy, dancing people annihilators. It was super fun! The poster has all my friends’ characters on it and the bottom two are NPCs I wrote in for the game.
Def recommend looking into running it!

Stepped into Dimension 20 twitter and sheesh... I understand Neverafter was billed as a horror season but it's also a) dungeons & dragons (which yeah honestly a system like Kids on Bikes or Ten Candles would've worked better for a horror setting but 🤫) and b) six improv comedians improvising character beats so 100% I did not go into this story expecting Horrorstör or The Only Good Indians levels of horror narrative and if they did try to go that route you'd have people complaining about GM railroading (again). Shoutout to Brennan, Siobhan, Ally, Lou, Zac, Murph, and Emily for having fun and telling an enjoyable horror-esque story about the nature of fate.

in my typical ill-fated “oobh what if a fan artist made cute stickers of them” scry of etsy every time I have a new f/o or crush I found something that is not blorbo related but that, if they were to see it in my apartment, would make my friends and family infinitely more worried for my mental health than anything I could buy that is
