It's being estimated that the spaceX launch, lacking the regulation and oversight of NASA launches, might have wiped out as much as 4% of the population of the federally protected Piping Plovers who's nesting site was within the effected area of the launch blast.

But you know, privatising space is cool because billionare fanboys think it's awesome.

New goal unlocked: Make billionaires cry
Tumblr media
Cyber bully billionaires. If you have the opportunity, bully them to their faces. Make them cry. Make them scared to leave their houses. Terrorize them.
Break out the guillotine if you’re feeling ambitious.

I hate copyright laws in relation to big companies soo much. It's a pathetic predatory market made to keep the means of poduction in the hands of few.
That's to say that the company responsable for Peppa Pig is processing an old lady (who didn't even had high education nor new about copyright law to begin with) because she sold in her handmade Peppa things in her small inline store (that she made to sustain herself after losing her job). They are suing her for 20 thousand reais wich means nothing monetarialy for them but will financially break this woman forever, she'll likely never be abble to pay this up. And like you can't seriusly convince me, that a brazilian old lady with her small store that only got kinda famous besides very very locally because of the lawsuit represented ANY actual loss to the company. They do this stuff because they can, because it helps to scare other small irrelevant local shops and so upheld the system, because fucks over the artisan class.
She already had to pay 5 thousand reais because of "hedonic damage" and while hopefully not the 20 thousand she was ruled guilty and a "threat to the company" (the justicy system is a joke).

So I was thinking about the Weeping Angels (you know, as you do) and maybe I’m late to the party but…are they a metaphor for late-stage capitalism?
Like…we all have our lives sucked right out from under us to benefit some unseen overlords? And we’re just discarded into a world we cannot navigate, while the 1% thrive on the exhaustion of our potential??

Encounter in the moonlight Part two
< >
When negotiating with an old one in the sacret place it is important to keep a level head as any digression against the treaty between witches and old ones can fundamentally shake the bond between them. Y/N is in big trouble now and so are Sun and Moon, though for wildly different reasons. The negotiation dimention has no effect on the putside, which means whatever physically happens here does not happen outside of it. When Y/N and Moon leave they will very much stand directly infront of an extremely enraged old one. Good luck

Think of all the "durable goods" sitting on store shelves and in warehouses, still unpurchased, and all of the factories that still continue to make more of them. Think of the raw materials and the countless collective centuries of workers' lives that are wasted making things that will be buried in landfills without ever being used. Think of all of that life wasted when they could have enjoyed doing something meaningful and fulfilling with it instead.

the average person doesn't expect you to be a perfect ethical consumer, that's not possible for the vast majority of us. but what youre saying is it's better to do nothing at all and choose the worst possible options (sweat shops, overseas shipping waste, idea/product theft, all wrapped up in SHEIN) than to put even the tiniest effort in where you can.
[they are referring to this post]
What I said was "some people are doing literally everything they can to survive and have no extra bandwidth to spend extra time and money on their purchases, and it is cruel and therefore un-punk to gatekeep punkness and add additional shame to these people's lives based on that fact."
I think it's still a good thing to try to ethically consume; I literally never said it wasn't. I had never even heard of SHEIN before. Rather, I am much more concerned about what I saw as arbitrary gatekeeping based on ability and income.
And frankly how dare you claim that I am supporting sweatshops and abuse by saying that this additional work you are demanding (in this case, presumably, vetting every clothing company you buy from) is not always possible for people. It is not a light accusation to accuse me of supporting abuse.
"How dare you say we piss on the poor", Etc. 🙄 this isn't Twitter. You are determined to enforce moral purity, but you are failing to see the nuance.
Because when I say "no extra bandwidth," I mean no extra bandwidth. This is not the "car shows it's on E but actually secretly it has a lot of gas left" situation that abled people constantly assume disabled people mean when they say they are at their limit.
This is "at a certain point, people will hit a wall in terms of money and time and energy, and any energy spent after that comes directly out of their life force."
So the argument "okay but just spend a little more time money and energy actually" is not a valid one.
And the argument "if you are not able to do this specific task, then it means you're not doing anything else to make the world a better place" doesn't exactly impress me either. You said yourself that it is impossible to be a perfectly ethical consumer for most people.
How do you know what else people are doing to resist oppression? How many hours per week until your standards are met? What if someone works 3 jobs? Does that mean it's harder to be a good person if you're poor?? Why do you get to decide what specific avenue of bettering the world is the most morally repugnant or acceptable? What kind of proof of goodness and effort would make you satisfied enough to lay off on the shame?? Who are you helping??
Clothing is a fundamental human need, and some of us have to buy cheap fucking clothes quickly. Billionaires are buying their seventh yacht this month. The people who own fast fashion companies are abusing their workers and putting local affordable clothing stores out of business - and this applies for basically every company with price points that low because governments are failing to regulate corporations to enforce basic human rights.
I have $300 to spend on a new wardrobe as my old clothes have fallen apart or become too small. Do you have a way for me to get a new winter coat, 3 flannels, 10 shirts, 3 dress shirts, new sandals, 10 pairs of pants, 5 bras, 12 pairs of socks, and 10 pairs of underwear within that budget and also definitely 100% ethically sourced, with free returns in case it doesn't fit? Or will I simply have to use the cheap stores?
I have about an hour to spend on this per week. Should I continue to wear small and tattered clothing until I have the time, money, and energy to meet your standards? Did you know there are more empty homes in this country than homeless people? If I decide to splurge on only 100% ethically-produced products, and I can't make rent, and I become homeless, are YOU going to be there for me?? Or are you busy litigating the endless tiny shames of poverty in your own community?
So I ask you again, are you sure this is where you want to direct your punk energy? Because energy and time, as it turns out, are limited resources. And I would never expect you to secretly have more than you claim to have.
#original#punk#hopepunk#cripplepunk#i swear to god#reading comprehension website#how dare you say we piss on the poor#jfc 'what you're saying is we should do nothing' - what I'm saying is YOU are doing nothing by enforcing this boundary#you have to give people more credit than this. i believe you want a better world too. and it would be cool if you used your energy to#instead ask 'how do i fight for the people in my community to be clothed and have the time and income to shop ethically?'#or 'how do i support activism that pushes for regulation that could control these companies?'#monitoring how poor people spend money is a supremely Republican thing to do. as is demanding clear moral purity from every scenario.#you want a better world too. you want to demand your peers do better. - fine. good.#but you need to be asking if you have remembered and included everyone's needs when making statements like this.#capitalism is all for forgetting about poor and disabled people and refusing to believe their limits.#shame is a necessary weapon in fighting greed but it IS a weapon. be so careful where you point that shit. enough shame can kill a person#and a lot of us are already defending from it from all sides.#shaming a person who is already at their limit for not doing more is an act of cruelty. think very carefully about what that means please.#i literally don't even know what SHEIN is lol i just know classism when i see it#but I've had friends whose clothes were visibly falling apart with no income and so much so shame so deep in their hearts they were dying#and if they had seen that post it would have made them even sicker and gotten them no closer to the dignity of being properly clothed#shame is a weapon and /you need to be careful!!!!/

hello are you single? I only ask because your tags on this watcher post have me feeling like I should go and shop for rings https://www.tumblr.com/strangefable/748213037387939840?source=share
LMAO thank you for this <3 i do think there are some reasonable critiques to be made on this decision, but a lot of what i'm hearing is entirely not reasonable. it's tough out here for all of us, and that includes the team at watcher. they're not wrong to want to make their company sustainable while maintaining creative control. the audience is not owed 'free' content. (and it's not free, kids! you're the one being sold to data-miners and advertisers when the content is 'free')
i'm lucky enough to be in a place where i can afford it, and i'd much rather pay watcher than netflix or disney etc. i don't believe ryan, shane, and steven are so out of touch that they only want money. they love their shows. they care that what they make is something they are passionate about and invested in. but that's still gonna cost money in our current society; this is just the reality we live in

Hearing about the Hunger games continuation and thinking about all the Story continuations/prologues I wish we could get for The Underland Chronicles
Gregor's dad
I want To know what Gregor's dad (Who I want a name for... Steve, Lee, Heidi... What is his name? ) first trip to the underland was like. How was he found and brought to Regalia? We know he met Vikus and Luxa's Parents, SO what did he think of them? The Books say he stayed in Regila for two weeks (During which time he was very worried about his pregnant wife, children, and mother) and that he took a BB gun from the Museum. So I am guessing he knew about the war with the rats, but his family was in hell and he felt he had to get back soon. What happened during his capture.
I don't really want to know about his torturous time with the rats, but I would like some on how he was able to keep both hope and his humanity, the interesting relationship he is hinted to have had with Ripred in book 3 (He says Ripred used to feed him sometimes. He also was not scared of Ripred, Even though he was a rat and was "pretending" to attack his son). And lastly I want to know what coming home felt like for him and why, unlike his wife, the experiences did not make him fear or hate the underland.
Ripred
Speeking of Ripred I want All of his backstory, being a pup and growing up with his litter mates. Going into battle and finding out he is a Rager. How this made him famous all around the Underland, but also made him hated by enemies, and feared by allies, unless they needed him. What was going on when He tried to "Take over the fount with an army of Lobsters"? Seriously the Rat's don't even want The Fount. It is surrounded by rapids and sea monsters! What did was your interest Buddy?
Also I want to see his Mate, their family, and how their loss first broke him then made him change his stance on the war. Him building his relationship with the human side. Going up to the Overland to visit Libraries. His view of his relationships with Gregor and Lizzie and how it feels to him to being taking care of kids again after so long.
Hamnet
Up Next is Hamnet. Solovet and Vikus son, the beloved twin brother to the wife of the King/Queen, Brother in Law to the King (recently reread has me thinking they had more of a business relationship than a familiar one), the Regalian Army's most skilled soldier, and for a long time he was Solovet's heir to becoming captain of the Army, because everyone thought he was just like his mother. This is what everyone thought, but they thought wrong. Unlike Solovet Hamnet felt guilt. Guilt that drove him to speak against his mother in a war meeting to which she locked him in the dungeon for a month. When he was finally let out he went back to being obedient to her and buried his grief down, let it eat away at him, until one last horrible act (As a solider) destroyed him.
But give me Hamnet's complete story. Show him being a ruthless soldier and a fearsome killer on the field of battle, then coming home to be a loyal son, good friend, loving brother, and doting Uncle; becasue that is how many soldiers have to be. Show me him not being Okay but doing his best to hide that because that is all he could do. Then show me when everything went to far, and when he decided to leave Regalia, everything he knew and loved and run to a place that he and all his allies feared, for good reasons. Show me him missing his former friends and family. But also show me him meeting Frill and her deciding to take a chance and help him, him also taking chance and letting her (The books generally imply he wanted to leave his old life but did not expect to make anew one). Give me him learning about life in the jungle. How the animals there do not attack each other and instead employ a method of survival where first you hide, then you try to give a warning, then run. fight last. Show me him finding an overland women lost in the jungle and helping her. With the pair eventually forming a relationship and going on to have a child. Why did she never return to the Overland? Hamnet is a good father to Hazard, but you cannot tell me that he wasn't terrified during the entire pregnancy. Anything about Hamnet has to end where he ended. Having to once again fight in a pointless battle on behalf of Reglia, that the city once again brought on itself and got nothing out of. Our tragic beauty
Ares
Speaking again of Tragic Beauties I want Ares to. What kind of Stuff did he get up to to earn the reputation of a reckless, rule breaking, ...thrill seeker?...strength tester? To where he bonded with Henry to be able to get away with more. What were things like in the time HE and Henry were together. I don't think it was all bad. The Books clearly state that what hurt Luxa, Ares, Aurora, Nerissa the most was that they had loved Henry and could remember good things about him. Things that no longer felt the same after he betrayed them, and things they struggled with only becoming memories in the wake of his death. But the also show me his side of his and Gregor's bond, of him coming to love Gregor like he once loved Henry, and how their friendship helped him move on from the Trauma Henry put him through.
Nerrisa
This last one will never happen because its not really Susanna Collins style, but since none of this will happen, I want more Nerissa. What is it like for her loving her family and people so much, but knowing with her frailty and the Kingdom consistently being on the brink of war she cannot protect them. Show me what her visions are like for her. Note whatever we learned about Sandwhich I do believe Nerissa is an actual visionary. Her Visions of a bad and mysterious fate happening to Henry, Hamnet living for 10 years and building a diverse family, and Gregor being secretly being hidden away in the dungeon by Solovet...all came through.
Knowing that I have another question: Did she know suspect that Sandwhich was a fraud? Nerissa spends more time in the Prophecy room, analysis them than any other character. Many of the "misunderstood translations" are later "explained" by Nerissa. She got Gregor and the other questors off death row by replacing Boots with the Bane as the aforementioned "Baby" in the prohpecy and telling everyone: "they actually did complete the prophecy, you are are safe from the imaginary threats Sandwhich illueded to. Let them go and let's get back what's actually going wrong." When Greogor sobs about not understanding what the point of the journey to the jungle was (It had no point) and how him fulfilling the prophecy did not make everything better, Nerissa twist the prophecy to being about a war for the cure and reminds Gregor that because of what they discovered in the Jungle the council was forced to give the Gnawers the cure instead. Lastly she loves the one Prophecy that suggest hope for peace, even though its title is the only suggestion of it. On the day of the surrender she knowing her cousin will want to make the wrong choice about how to end this. So when she see's Ripred marked himself with an X (If Gregor and Luxa knew he did it himself there was no way Nerissa did not, she was always smarter than the pair of then) she decided to lend him a hand in getting everyone to believe he is the peacemaker, and they need to have peace. I really love the theory that Nerissa had realized what Sandwhich and the prophecies were and spent the books studying them, so she could try and mitigate the damages they caused.

Anyone who thinks Gale is the worst, most irredeemable monster who's actions were completely unnecessary, I want them to sit down and think about the girl in the lemon yellow coat, and ask themselves if the rebels at the front lines responsible for that were just as bad, and if they genuinely think the war would've been won without acts of violence.

As far as I know, the giant skeleton is Elynas, a sea beast that died 400+ years ago, with the Melusine later forming from its remains. Elynas guided them in creating a village further inside their corpse, where they all lived until Neuvillette met them. From there he brought them out to the rest of Fontaine, with them moving about since then. Given the placement of the bones and the purple spots throughout the map I'm really interested in learning more.
Along with Ei and Makoto, more specifically about how Ei sacrificed her physical body so that Makoto could ascend to Celestia, with Makoto recreating her form afterwards. It's described in one of the in-game books, but with little detail about why and how. Then there's the Raiden Shogun who was created as Ei's attempt to avoid erosion, and it's effects, especially on the physical body.
Regarding the other gods, most were killed during the archon war either directly or as collateral damage, but maybe after the Archon War whatever conditions allowed gods to form or people to become them became possible again. I'm likely forgetting things from the game but how much do we know so far about what to takes to ascend to godhood, without becoming a archon? Or about the transfer process of making a new archon, besides the gnosis?
Interesting! I would also like to learn more about Elynas. The red ores, the voices, the ribs to sky and the draconic head shape remind me a lot of Durin in Dragonspine.
Someone else once told me the in-game book said that Ei was always a puppet created by Makoto (ie, was not actually her sister), but it didn't make sense to me that a puppet would make another puppet in order to resist change and abandon their first artificial body when they could just like. Alter it instead. She clearly has the ability. Your explanation about that makes much more sense 😊
As for non-Archon ascension, we are told that all vision holders have the potential to become gods, and we know that Venessa (?spelling) ascended straight to Celestia at the big tree in Mondstat, so it is possible for people to become new gods in this day and age, but we don't know what the criteria for ascension are aside from 'lots of ambition' (having a vision).
It's possible that Furina is just another god that was handed(?) the gnosis and the job, but while Venessa went up, she did not come down, and the other gods so far seem to have received their titles on the ground. Also, why would you hand the gnosis to some brat when there must be other, more experienced gods up in Celestia somewhere.
Unless they always knew the prophecy was real. No one wants to bother with ruling Fontaine when it's just going to disappear (again?). Venti hints that Celestia is not a nice place. Focalors gets the job because she's young and inexperienced. If she fails, it's no skin off Celestia's nose.
