New goal unlocked: Make billionaires cry
Tumblr media
Cyber bully billionaires. If you have the opportunity, bully them to their faces. Make them cry. Make them scared to leave their houses. Terrorize them.
Break out the guillotine if you’re feeling ambitious.

OK so after finishing BBC Ghosts, I started watching CBS Ghosts, and at first I was underwhelmed because it felt like literally an exact copy of the BBC one and also with worse acting and special effects. But then I kept watching and it’s charming in its way, like a Disney Channel AU of the BBC version, and there’s heartwarming moments and decent jokes, plus original ideas like the idea of every ghost having a “ghost power” and Sam going to see her mom’s ghost. That said, I did think it would have been more interesting if instead of doing a nearly one-to-one copy of the ghost ensemble in the BBC version (friendly arrow guy from the 80s, corrupt rich douche with no pants, proper lady of the manor, oldest guy who wears furs and is rough and tough, gay soldier guy, flighty naive girl... and then instead of Thomas and Mary they do have Sass and Alberta, that IS some originality) they could’ve just come up with entirely new American ghosts. I would’ve loved to see some more originality. I actually had been hoping they would include a Jewish ghost, like an immigrant making his way as a peddler in the Hudson Valley somehow idk. And uh, turns out they do have a Jewish ghost, cause in episode 16 it becomes obvious that the corrupt rich douche with no pants is Jewish, and every person he worked with in his corrupt finance firm was Jewish, and also he was friends with Bernie Madoff. So that’s fun
THIS IS NOT ME “CANCELLING” THE SHOW FOR ANTISEMITISM. I DO NOT THINK THAT’S WHAT’S HAPPENING. I AM JUST COMPLAINING

“Wee! You’re a rabbit! 😁”
Sephiroth: There is nothing amusing about a rabbit that reinforces capitalist ideals by distributing candy unequally and promoting the act of hunting for sport amongst children.
Zack: But I didn't say you were the easter bunny.
Sephiroth:
Sephiroth: *sigh* Wee I'm a rabbit.

Reading more about zoochosis, it is defined as a form of psychosis that develops in animals held captive, it usually manifests in what are called stereotypic behaviors.
Stereotypic behavior is defined as behaviors that are repetitive, morphologically identical, and which possess no obvious goal or function. Some of them include: pacing; weaving; bar biting; rocking; self-mutilation; over-grooming; swimming in circles; nail-biting; excessive sleeping; etc
Stereotypical behaviors do not occur in the wild and are exclusively seen in animals held in captivity, particularly those held in small enclosures with little opportunity to engage in natural behaviors. They are thought to be caused ultimately by artificial environments that do not allow animals to satisfy their normal behavioral needs. Those that show this kind of behavior live lives of sensory deprivation, restricted socialization, lack of control on mating behavior and choices, etc. While it usually happens in zoos, it can happen to pets too. Intelligent animals - like primates, elephants and cetaceans, for example - are more susceptible to zoochosis.
While stereotypy in humans is associated with autism and mental illness, it's a pretty common behavior in neurotypical people too. We can show the repetitive behaviors mentioned earlier, body rocking, self-caressing, crossing and uncrossing of legs, and marching in place etc. The modern society put humans in closed, artificial environments that don't offer them the sensory experience they have evolved with, they have a life of social isolation compared to their ancestors, women's reproduction have been (and still are) out of their control. The modern capitalist society restricts human behavior, people often go through their days, weeks, even months, without enrichment. Humans - a species that evolved for persistent hunting and gathering behavior - are living a life of sedentarism restricted to the interior of buildings. Humans - a species that evolved to make tools, being the genus that most specialized in this kind of behavior - are leading lives where spend their free time just consuming and create nothing, no tools, no art, no music, no clothing, nothing. Humans - a species that evolved to be hypersocial - have been feeling socially isolated, with no close bonds to other humans, no fulfilling social activities, many socialize the most through repetitive interaction with screens that might entertain them in short term but cause harmful consequences to be brain in long term.
The point I'm trying to make is: the current human society, despite making us safer and more comfortable through technology, is making us (and the animals that interact with us) sick. The level of depression and anxiety we're exhibiting can't be ignored. Take a walk, play a sport, have a healthy diet, look for group activities, create things! You were made for this. Make sure the necessities of the animals in your life are being met, that they are eating well, playing every day, that the ambient they live offers enrichment, that they can have some contact with nature (taking walks, looking at birds, playing in a garden, whatever is appropriate for their species)
All living beings must do what is natural to them to be healthy, be them wild animals, domesticated animals or humans, after all we are animals like any other.

So this was really fun. 👀 A couple of highlights for and thoughts from me:
Oh my god, these stupid vampires in my domain have no idea how good they have it with me just asking for money when I could simply hunt them for sport instead and get rid of the problem. Call me a capitalist bunny all you want (yes, my symbol is a rabbit), you dumbasses are LUCKY! I hope there will be some sort of way to lay down the law because again, these idiots are attracting too much attention and I can't believe Erin or whoever didn't come to talk to me just yet (beyond that moment at the club with Erin trying to influence MC but MC shrugged it off like a boss). Their talks of revolution and influence and peace so far read like lip service. Fucking faux-anarchists
I play as a teenage parent with a child, and I can just imagine Minjo looking at this baby-faced young parent and going "Poor thing". I didn't even realize she was an RO until the swimming class and while I am set on Illya, I am so excited to befriend her. Also hoping she will be able to put a good word in with the werewolves because...
I play on brewing Blackwell's crap for Gaius. For which I need werewolf blood but hey, no one said I have to take it by force! Praying like hell I will be able to reach an accord with the pack to get their blood to keep Gaius happy and under control
Speaking of Gaius, I chose to learn Latin and I was able to understand them. But considering Latin is the base language for many Romance languages like Italian (which is said to be the closest to Latin), French (the furthest) and Spanish (the middle), could it be possible for MC who speaks any of those languages to be able to decipher SOME of what's said between Gaius and his henchman whose name I just forgot (Lucian? Lucius?)?
Now, speaking of languages, could MC be a native speaker to a non-English language themselves? Could be interesting and leave up room to learn another language
I am gonna kill that fucking hunter the second I get my hands on him, simply because he knows about MC's child and I refuse to allow him to have a bargaining chip over me
I love this. 💙
Just quickly: I'm sorry but I'm not planning on programming any more language options into the game. I'm sorry about that.
I am really glad you're enjoying the story. You will have other opportunities to talk to the fledglings, attack the hunter, and befriend Minjo. 💙

Were other drivers in the past this busy?? Kimi was a known partier, Button too I think, he was criticized for just being a pretty boy if I’m not mistaken. All other drivers followed the James hunt regime but the closest athlete I could use that’s as busy as Lewis is Serena, Lebron… Micheal Jordan is a whole nother level of course and David Beckham well… he was always more Hollywood than sports anyways
I think Raikkonen's partying is not exactly comparable to Lewis's business endeavors? Even when he's going to galas and shit, these receptions aren't really parties, they're networking events.
Afaik in F1 specifically it's a Lewis thing, although it opened the doors to others and you see more drivers branching out now although not to his extent and not with his connections. He was heavily criticised for it when it started (he still is) because it's supposedly a distraction and drivers are supposed to focus on driving, etc. It's not the F1 way. Plus people were always mad at him having famous friends for some reason.
Otherwise I'd say it depends on the sport and on the era? Sportspeople used to "just" be sportspeople. The whole "becoming a mogul" thing came more recently imo. In a sense it's pragmatic because you're gonna retire from your athletic career young and you need both things to do and money to keep flowing, especially if you're living the lifestyle. In another sense it's just your classic capitalist scheme, right?
Lewis has always been kind of starstruck imo. Since the first times celebrities start showing up to the races, or he starts meeting them, he's name dropping in his interviews and being all excited about it lol. You can tell that's the life he wanted for himself.

See, here is where we're at re 'is Nisha Lawful Evil'
Out of these three, Nisha is most definitely closest to the second Type. She's definitely not "Lawful over Evil". I'd say even Jack is closer to that. Jack is the one who has lofty ideas about creating a better world, purging Pandora of bandits and creating is capitalist utopia. When Nisha talks about the Hyperion agenda in Borderlands 2, it is mostly in a slightly amused way. And while she supports it by guarding the Eridium shipments, she's not directly an enforcer for Jack the way Wilhelm is. Mostly she just wants to run Lynchwood - which she also isn't really trying all that hard to turn it into a "peaceful", hyper-controlled place, she even states as much:
"Rumours that Lynchwood might become as civilised as Opportunity are not to be believed. Let Jack have his ivory towers. I came to Pandora for action."
So she's not really trying to build any kind of society - she's trying to create a scenario where she can commit atrocities unbothered (and realised that the best profession to do that is to be a cop lmao). The only aspect that fits here is that she specifically likes to go after bandits. Or, anyone she considers a bandit. But we also know from TPS that she's perfectly fine with a) killing pretty much anyone or anything else and b) being considered a bandit herself. And I think it's important to point out that in the society we encounter in Borderlands, killing and hunting bandits for fun and sport or whatever is perfectly normalised - obviously, self-defence is another big reason - but if you have power, money or are just really good with a gun, you're actively encouraged to go out and murder as many bandits as you like and the more you kill, the bigger the hero you are. And Nisha, much like Jack, is perfectly content to label people bandits the moment they piss her off or inconvenience her if she has a chip on her shoulder.
She's also not really the Type 3. Something that does apply, at least occasionally, is the idea of 'honour' - like the fact that she challenges the Vault Hunters for a duel. But we also see her go back on her word when she feels like it, like in the Pre-Sequel when that one Lost Legion soldier asks for his life to be spared: All the other characters let him go, except Nisha. She first says 'yes', then decides to hunt him down and strangle him when he least expects it. Yes, she creates a set of laws in Lynchwood that allow her to hang anyone she feels like - but somehow I doubt that if someone not breaking any of her laws would stop her from killing them if she felt like it.
Also, she isn't evil until she clocks out, then goes home and acts like a different person. She's always Like This. Yes, she can be friendly and jovial and chill when she feels like it, but a) her cruelty and blood-thirst usually show, she's just funny about it and b) it's not like she's disconnecting from the evil she does or rationalises it. She simply doesn't care. The reason she can be cordial and polite or even close with people despite of all the murders isn't because there is a distinction between those two sides of her - but because there isn't: She's pretty open about who she is. She doesn't normalise it, she doesn't think 'oh, I'm following orders / it is my job to do this' or 'other people are doing it too' - she didn't slip into this line of 'work', she doesn't really have any values or beliefs bigger than herself (sure, she supports Hyperion but she's also announcing the fact that she considers it all a bit silly over the loudspeakers to the entire town of Lynchwood).
The closest thing to apply is "Evil over Lawful" - creating Lynchwood and creating the laws of Lynchwood is mostly a set-up to allow her to do things 'for the Evulz' - luring people to Lynchwood to torment them is basically her mouse-trap for endless fun.
But if we look at -
Tumblr media
Chaotic Evil - some of these ironically fit her a lot more.
And ironically even here, I wouldn't put her into "Evil over Chaos". Now, this might be controversial because being 'evil' is a very, very big aspect of Nisha's character. In fact, she arguably might be more evil than Jack (she arguably might be the most evil character in the Borderlands-universe)(even if they're both extremely cruel people, Jack's motives are also ambition, revenge, arrogance, his idea of bringing 'peace', etc. Nisha's sadism is a lot more undiluted. She really, really just wants to hurt people. This, ironically, also makes her kill fewer people than Jack - because Jack is that 'million is a statistic' kind of villain, even if he genuinely enjoys killing. He has a mission. Nisha doesn't. Sitting in a space station and sending soldiers and moonshots to kill her enemies just wouldn't be enough to keep her entertained. We see that in her lines at Wilhelm:
"That's lame. I like my kills more personal." "An unmanned drone? Can't even watch them die that way!" "Boring!"
She doesn't care about Pandora or the Warrior or Hyperion - she cares about hanging around Lynchwood, killing bandits like they're ants and she's got a magnifying glass. And the fact that she's also perfectly fine with Pandora potentially being fried to a crisp if Jack manages to raise the Warrior indicates that she's also fine going somewhere else, if Lynchwood doesn't work out. But...she's also not really a card-carrying villain. She wouldn't ally with someone just because they're evil if that meant that they would ask her to do stuff she doesn't feel like doing - we see that in her interactions with Tassiter. So yeah, for her it seems to be Chaos (freedom) over Evil.
And since she likes to use her freedom to hunt bandits and for her western larping shtick - the whole Sheriff thing seems to be a pretty sweet deal for her interests. Not because she care about the law, but because she cares about fun and impunity.
And that's how you end up being so Chaotic, you're turning Lawful again.
(She also definitely has traits of 'Intelligent Monster' - she really, really likes killing people/beings just to prove she can (which is a common trait among Vault Hunters but it is also what makes Nisha become a Vault Hunter.))

P6 Idea : Caprona of Distant Sea
Just like Tartarus is to artificial islands and Midnight Channel is to rural areas, Ophion has a close relationship with an international university.
In Ophion, as long as there are human settlements, "utopias" correspond to university branches, which are somewhat similar to the palaces, jails and kingdoms of P5. Each utopia is managed by an elite college student called a "lord".
Tumblr media
Worldview: Caprona comes from the novel The Land That Time Forgot written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Caprona is an isolated island. The residents here live an agricultural life of bartering, hunting and gathering, and have almost no access to capital or electrical appliances.
Behind this peace is actually the threat from the residents based on the lord. She was born in a village, and because of the harm she suffered at the hands of unscrupulous capitalists, she was willing to punish anyone who used electrics or capital products at all costs. This leads some to entrust the protagonist with punishing her for rebellion.
Tumblr media
Design: The name of the lord here is "Queen La", which is also based on the character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. She is like the chief of the tribe.
Compared to the novel, Caprona is closer to Skull Island in the movie King Kong. Queen La's nature is also close to that of the lady who was offered to King Kong, which corresponds to her persona Wuzhiqi. There may be clues here, because Queen La is the same person as the sports girl introduced before.
Gameplay: After accepting the commission from the residents, the player will receive a bow and a sickle as the protagonist's weapons, and then go to the location of Queen La, which is surrounded by mist and controlled by many shadow guards. Player must use fire-seeking arrows to light beacons at different locations. Once all the beacons are lit, the mist will disappear, and the power of these guards will be weakened.
Tumblr media
Boss: Once the battle begins with Queen La, she will challenge the protagonist with a spear and a shield in each hand. After the duel is over, she will ask the guards to open the gate behind her and release her persona Wuzhiqi to help. After the protagonist is halfway through the battle with Wuzhiqi and Queen La, Wuzhiqi will hold Queen La in his hands and climb up the tower behind. The player must use the bow and skills of persona to inflict damage.
End: After the battle, Queen La realized that her behavior was wrong. In order to give the people freedom, she exiled herself, gave up her image as a tribal chief, and changed into a sports girl to accompany the protagonist on her adventure to the next utopia.
Return: When players revisit Caprona's situation, they will find that the shadows of unscrupulous capitalists are making their own plans for Caprona. The protagonist and Queen La must punish them together.

so yesterday i finished reading Tender is the flesh by agustina bazterrica and it definitely made me feel completely awful but I also kind of loved it? I feel like I can't make this post without first giving a warning for cannibalism, human experimentation and that humans being treated as livestock is kind of the premise of the book. So with that out of the way, the book follows Marcos, who's high uo at a plant where they process "special" meat, or human meat, after all animal meat is deemed unsafe due to a virus. And the further you are in the book, the more it becomes doubtful there ever was a virus in the first place. The eating of people therefore becomes more about control than a "genuine" attempt to stick to a balanced diet.
I'm not going to get into the torture porn of it all, but it's cruel and dehumanising, which is a big part of the book. I feel like the author touches upon issues of class and race in the book, without making explicit conclusions, you'll have to come to those yourself. Who gets eaten? Who eats whom? Why is which meat valuable? Who is and who is not deemed human?
Marcos is also troubled by his dementing father, the loss of his child and subsequent leaving of his wife, and his indifferent sister. When he receives a female "head" (meant for slaughter), these issues transform. He gets her pregnant and so a replacement for his dead son is handed to him.
At one point I did genuinely think she was going to be hunted for sport, but the end is completely awful in a different way. Marcos liked to think himself above others who made use of human livestock, but in the end when the opportunity presents itself he still grabs it with both hands. As soon as he's more satisfied with his life, he ceases to see the injustice of it all.
I think some reviewers on goodreads struggled with how there's no clear conclusion or lesson to take from this, and I do agree that some parts were maybe not completely clear or fleshed out, but I think the novel is an exaggeration of how people in capitalist society always consume others, and how people (and the government) can be cruel as long as they give a different name to what they're doing. It's a lot about how this consumption can be legitimized and seen as maybe not morally good, but at least neutral. The use of this neutralizing language is deeply disturbing considering the contents, but I do think it is strongly rooted in reality.
All in all this was a very interesting read and my thoughts are not 100% clear on this yet, I think i have to let this ferment in my brain for a bit. I cannot in good conscience recommend this to everyone but maybe some of you all would like to read this as well.

Hey um
Does anyone else find it really concerning that a lot of kids movies have villains that are just... late stage capitalists?
- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2
- The Lorax
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Pinnochio
- Tarzan
- Shrek Forever After
These are all I can think of at the moment, but I know there's a lot more. Feel free to add things!
I counted movies that have a villain that is IMPLIED to be a late stage capitalist based on their motivations. An example would be Clayton, given his desire to hunt a gorilla just for sport.

To add to your point about AI work I am going to quote my favorite Youtuber: The Ludditites were right.
Basically the last time this happened we lost a whole culture of weavers who lost their livelihoods and trade when their jobs became automated. People who had spent their whole lives spinning were suddenly out of jobs and at risk of starvation. All so some rich capitalist could get richer.
They were, rightfully, furious.
It's happening again with AI art.
My ideal vacation is hunting AI art programmers and bitcoin miners for sport and for their blasphemies against the Machine God and smashing their creations to pieces.

Okay, more spoilery spoiler thoughts.
I like how cagey Aymeric is, watching him outmaneuver Alphinaud who was being his usual overconfident little shit self was pretty funny, but the line after he figured out that Ul'dah was a trap was great. Something to the effect of; "Thank you for the hospitality. I'll be sure to return it one day." I may have uttered a "daaaaayum" at that. If we can convince him that the Catholic church is bad, maybe, I will officially like him.
That sounded more biggoted than it is, but I do not fucking remember what god they worship, and they all have French names with Gothic architecture and throw people off cliffs FULL on witch trial style to prove their innocence of "heresy", they're just Catholic.
But also I make no apology for my hatred of the Catholic church, it's the worst! Just look at, uhhhhhh, *gestures vaguely to society*
Speaking of things that suck.
Capitalists!
Things that don't suck; MURDER FRENZY against capitalists, holy fuck, go Raubhan! I REALLY wish the story had let me go hog fucking WILD with hunting down the monetarists for sport with him, we would have won, I'm FULLY convinced of it. Also, I kind of want to change my faction allegiance now, even if Raubhan weren't my new GODDAMN HERO, I'm kind of pissed at Merlwyb for dipping in Raubhan's hour of need even if I understand it from a shrewd political standpoint.
But I'm playing as Talia. I'm not here for shrewd politics, I'm here for skulls for her goddamn mantle and we start with Teledji Adeledji, let's GO!
But alas. The game says I have to go to Coerthas. And that hunting the wicked down in the streets like dogs is "wrong" and "evil" and "not what heroes do", so fine :T
