I haven't read this series, but this is for my little sister's birthday (it's her favorite series/character). I hope it's accurate...

My favourite character type: Metaphorically Tortured and Literally Covered in Blood
Jang Uk from Alchemy of Souls counts, even though I don't think he's ever simultaneously tortured and covered in blood, but that is only because that series doesn't use a lot of blood. Dude was mentally tortured and literally killed 86 people in one go, there should be blood.
In order: Jang Uk & Naksu/Mu-deok/Cho Yeong Alchemy of Souls, Han Ri-ta & Kim Do-ha Moon in the Day, Kang Cheol W: Two Worlds, Myul Mang/Kim Sa-ram Doom at Your Service, Lee Chang & Seo-bi Kingdom, Lee In Captivating the King, Lee Rang Tale of the Nine Tailed/1938, Jang Man-wol Hotel Del Luna, Moo-yeon/Yoon Seok-ha 100 Days My Prince, Duke Su The Double, Do Hyun-soo Flower of Evil
Each time I asked myself, "Are they actually covered in blood or did they just get a little on them? Are they sufficiently tortured or do they only have minor mental turmoil?" These are very strict, scientific criteria.

The Kingdom of Kush: A Captivating Guide to an Ancient African Kingdom in Nubia That Once Ruled Egypt
Africa is the continent where the first humans were born. They explored the vast land and produced the first tools. And although we migrated from that continent, we never completely abandoned it. From the beginning of time, humans lived and worked in Africa, leaving evidence of their existence in the sands of the Sahara Desert and the valleys of the great rivers such as the Nile and the Niger.
Some of the earliest great civilizations were born there, and they give us an insight into the smaller kingdoms of ancient Africa.
Some of the topics covered in part one of this book include:
The Kingdom of Kush
The Land of Punt
Carthage
The Kingdom of Aksum
The Ghana Empire
The Mali Empire
And much, much more!

From Alara to the Twenty-Fifth Dynasty

i think one of the hottest fucking parts of kings rising is when they sword fight for the first fucking time MARY JESUS AND JOSEPH
cus not only do i picture it so fucking vividly but like IT’S THE FIRST FUCKING TIME LAURENT GIVES IN AND SHOWS SOME REAL EMOTION WITH DAMEN. he just gets so fucking desperate to prove himself, to show how he could have avenged his brother but fucking damen is BETTER and for the first time he’s outdid by someone other than his uncle and he can’t get over that. he starts doing shit that’s childish and dishonorable in a fight but he doesn’t care because HERE’S THIS STUPID FUCKING BOY WHO HE THOUGHT HE KNEW BUT DIDN’T AT ALL AND IN THE MIDST OF TRYING TO SAVE HIS KINGDOM HERE HE COMES WITH HIS DIMPLES AND HIS LOYALTY AND ALL HIS FUCKING EMOTIONS AND LIKE HE SHOULDVE JUST KILLED HIM BECAUSE THEN MAYBE HE WOULDNT BE IN LOVE BUT ITS TOO LATE NOW AND HERE HE IS THROWING SAND AT HIS FUCKING EYES BECAUSE HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO SAY I LOVE YOU
all while laurent is flushing and damen is sweating and they’re thrashing each other around like WHAT

I think the reason Jaron lost all of his character development in the 4th book was because of erick's death. Sure they weren't so close and jaron, being the unreliable narrator he is, didn't express that he was sad, but it obviously effected him.
whenever a loved one of his dies, he relapses into thinking he's all alone. It happened with his parents and erick. I'm gonna add onto this post after reading the 5th book because ik Kerwyn dies too.
Erick's death had jaron once again not trusting anyone because he didnt want anyone to die, which is actually really sad. He trusted erick to handle things and boom, istantly he's out like a light. It didn't help that wilta was also lying and trying to earn his trust either.
