Hi, I squealed out loud when I saw the Agent Carter art!!! I love that show so much and I re-watch it ridiculously often, it's Imo one of the best MCU installments, even if they didn't see it that way. (It's been years and I'm still mad it got canceled.)
And I adore your art and how you drew Peggy! She's a delight! 😍
Ngl, when I saw you mention that you started watching Agent Carter I hoped we'd get some Carterwood from you, even tho I knew you'd prefer Cartinelli because you're always into the ships I am not (😔) buuuut I am still daring to hope that S2 will convince you of how great and hot Carterwood are...
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say about S2 because Idk who told you that it was bad, but it's most certainly not. It may not be quite as good as S1 but it's still just as enjoyable!
Sorry, I just wanted to gush a little bit in your inbox because the moment I see Agent Carter brain goes brrr, and also thank you for all your wonderful ladies' art! It's always a joy seeing something of yours on my dash, thank you for all the art you create and share with us 💕💕
I'm going to start S2 soon! I'm interested to see what I think of it, I've heard so many conflicting reviews 😅
Oh I love Dottie, and I'm actually very into Carterwood too! Well, I'm just into Peggy/women in general tbh. I'm sure I will draw both, I'm just very into the vintage diner aesthetic so Cartinelli will be first 😌
Thank you for the lovely message! 🥰🥰

scientific ranking of all of vicki's boyfriends and girlfriends
Tumblr media
1. roger collins canon status: 6/10 they are the moment. collinsport's own jane eyre reenactment in a 1960's feudal sardine empire, complete with lovely arsonist wife. they're soulmates. he might be her uncle (?). it's true love. it's workplace harassment. they're fated to be together. they're doomed. they're entwined but never joined. they're marrying other people. they're mimicking each other's dialogue. they went on two dates and they both sucked. she's the adoptive mother to his (?) child. he tried to fire her 2 million times. they never even kissed once. they got stuck in a cabin together in the middle of a storm. he gives her away at her wedding. he can't stand to see her married. she is one of the few people in this world that he finds worth caring about.
Tumblr media
2. burke devlin (mitch ryan) canon status: 10/10 he's dangerous he's mysterious he's tall dark and handsome and he did not hit that guy with his car. he's an oil baron. he's an ex convict. he's a millionaire. he's roger collins' ex-boyfriend. he's going to set out to destroy everything but oh god not her he would never let anyone touch her. one of the few people who actually takes her bodily safety seriously and moves heaven and earth to rescue her (repeatedly). two poor kids from the wrong side of the tracks arrive in the same train car from new york to collinsport. one of them already knows the underside of the collins' heel and the other one is about to and he can't convince her to get out. he wants to wreck the collins name she wants it as her own but they're both too-well wrapped up in the myth to leave it.
Tumblr media
3. carolyn stoddard canon status: 2/10 girlfriends. that's all i can say. i just think they are very much adorable and they do score points on the canon scale, remotely, for such subtle lines from Carolyn as: "Just what the doctor ordered to keep the wind from ruffling your dark and gorgeous hair," and "Here, alone with you, I can't pretend." never mind their sleepovers in vic's bed hanging out in their nightdresses. carolyn would sooner own up to having a crush on her uncle than having a crush on a woman because this is upper crust maine in the 1960's but listen ... for a character who enjoys flirting for fun but gets extremely anxious about settling down and marrying a man, who prefers the most distant, unobtainable men that she has no reasonable chance of actually ending up with (roger case in point), who gets jealous every time vicki is with someone no matter who it is ... maybe she does like men too, but let's investigate mama let's research. with the governess, preferably. (who could maybe be her half sister? see no. 1)
Tumblr media
4. maggie evans (blonde wig) canon status: 0/10 i'll be honest with you all this one is purely vibes but the other boyfriends suck so she still gets to place ahead of them. don't tell me maggie's not looking at her in exactly the same way she looks at joe when she's eyeing him up as her next man. she got straighter when we lost the blonde wig but this entire counter scene in e1 is one long flirtation session and for however many episodes she keeps the wig i believe very strongly there's a devastatingly homoerotic female friendship developing. i'm not immune to the short hair blonde long hair brunette wlw aesthetic i'll admit. as i said vibes only but just trust me. y'all fw cartinelli? ok. well.
Tumblr media
5. frank garner canon status: 10/10 i'm glad you were very helpful during the laura arc frank but i'll be honest you bore me to tears why are you even here. he's got the personality of wonder bread and he's in the wrong genre he should be arguing cases on bachelor father or solving hardy boys mysteries or something i truly do not know. these two together just means bouncing all our lawful good off each other and it self perpetuates into nothing interesting at all. they're not even maybe related! maybe if we continued further with the betty hanscombe story and he found some damning revelation about vicki's parentage he'd have something fun to contribute to the plot but as things stand he's just a duller ivy league version of joe and if we're gonna have an all-american boyfriend i'd rather she just date mr haskell.
Tumblr media
6. burke devlin (anthony george) canon status: 10/10 you may think that he cannot have possibly fallen from 2nd to 6th with a recast ... surely not ... but you would be wrong. i give vic props for domesticating him but he's lost all his panache in his full-time role as romantic interest, and now he doesn't even look like handsome squidward anymore :( like frank, this version of burke is much too obviously a safe choice, where the original allure of burke is the fact that she wants him despite the enmity between him and the collins family, his destructive tendencies, his jawline ... I do give him props for going to extreme lengths to make her happy, not only in their personal relationship, but her overall circumstances, and the other things that matter to her. you're not last but i wasn't sad when the plane crashed either :/
Tumblr media
7. barnabas collins canon status: 8.5/10 is this a real relationship ... i don't really know. i'm not sure the participants know. barnabas thinks it is and i guess they were technically engaged to be married at some point but that's only towards the goal of using her to vividly hallucinate his dead girlfriend so does that count. I will say in their favor it was extremely funny that she had to drive the getaway car for her own kidnapping/elopement/vamp enthrallment because he can't drive. honestly that was the only part of this whole situation i enjoyed. also when she married jeff and he sighed and put his head in his hands he was real for that. they're actually pretty compatible and would be amazing friends ... or like, they could host a podcast together, or something. not this.
Tumblr media
8. jeffpeter clarkbradford canon status: 10/10 such a shitty boyfriend that roger collins opened his third eye to warn her that marrying him is the greatest mistake of her life. his only job in the entire world is to make sure that vicki does not hang for witchcraft and he fails multiple times. possibly the most annoying man on the planet. what if we gave a ken doll the personality of a republican congressional aide and he's played by an actor that is reviled by his castmates. comes to the future on the power of wanting to fuck vicki i guess and to spite me, specifically, who's very tired of seeing him, and makes her have a car accident where she could have died. kisses reincarnated french serial killers in the yard days before their big wedding. leaves her at the altar to go play in the dirt in the graveyard. later marries her in a shotgun ceremony at 3 in the morning and then vanishes back into The Past. after literally driving her to suicide, takes her to be with him in The Past where she hangs, again, and then dies off the cliff. TOMATO TOMATO TOMATO TOMATO.

For your stuff-what-I-wrote ask, a blast from the past... I adore your Portraits series, have reread it many times. But this one in particular has always stuck with me...
It doesn't stop Angie from being surprised when she wakes up one stormy night on the floor, with Peggy on top of her and a gun to her temple.
"What the—Peggy!" she gasps, struggling to talk when the air's been knocked out of her. Her feet are still tangled in the sheet; she's well and truly stuck. "Oh Christ, oh Christ…"
Outside, rain lashes against the windows.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Peggy demands, voice harsh in a way Angie's never heard before. The muzzle of the pistol—the one Angie'd thought it was so funny Peggy kept under her pillow—is cold against Angie's skin. She can feel the weight of it, its solid realness, and she tries not to panic don't panic don't panic—
"Peggy it's me, it's Angie, wake up," she coughs, still trying to catch her breath.
"Shut up!" Peggy shouts, before flinching as another loud crash of thunder booms overhead.
Oh.
"It's just the storm, Peg, you're dreamin'. It's not real, it's not real, it's not real," Angie babbles in a desperate rasp, reaching up blindly for the bedside lamp switch. She can barely see Peggy's face in the darkness; she's certain Peggy can't see hers. "Just lemme—"
Peggy's hand whips out, pinning Angie's wrist to the floor above her head. "Move again and I'll shoot!" she snaps, but it's a lot less cool than before, a lot more hysterical, and somehow… somehow knowing Peggy's scared means Angie doesn't have to be.
"You're not gonna shoot me, hon," she wheezes as calmly as she can, not moving a muscle. "I'm Angie, and you know me, and we're safe. It's okay. But I need you to put the gun down. I'm not gonna hurt you. And you're not gonna hurt me. Okay?"
Peggy blinks once, twice. "I—"
"Put the gun down for me, English. That's it. Put it—"
"Angie," Peggy breathes, eyes clearing, and Angie hears the safety click on just before the gun falls to the floor. Peggy scrambles to the other side of the room, chest heaving, trying to put as much space between them as possible. "Oh my god. Oh my god."
awww HI CARTINELLI
okay so this was 8 years ago, I shall endeavor to cast my mind back to say more than just what I imagine is the obvious.
so this is the second fic in the series. the first had been from Peggy's POV about Angie, because that's what I was most interested in at first. Angie, being a new character, was just this wonderful mix of blank-slate newness and incredibly distinctive specificity that I was keen to capture and put my mark on; you'll notice that Angie's backstory is rarely identical in any two of my Cartinelli stories, because there were so many options I wanted to explore.
By the time I came around to wanting to do the sequel, which is from Angie's POV about Peggy, it was... calling it salty is probably overstating it, but by the time I wrote it the fandom had grown in size considerably and I felt like there'd been quite a bit of drift and that I was often seeing Peggy written as OOC in various ways. so I wanted to figure out what my truth was, and something I knew I had to cover was Peggy's PTSD. it's very present on the show in a way that I appreciated, and wanted to delve into; Peggy's so strong, but like many naturally strong things that can also make her brittle, even fragile, when she's subject to certain pressures. and she hates failing, so of course she'd want to hide that.
Peggy often plays the noble sacrifice card, isolating herself from others because she thinks knowing her is a burden and a danger, and this was the absolute gut-punchiest way to externalize that. In many ways, her fears are reasonable; in many ways, it's not even herself she's rejecting because she feels so hijacked by it, when it happens. it's not something she can control, and of COURSE that scares her.
but whereas Peggy sees that as a personal failing, Angie takes the much more reasonable stance that things out of your control are out of your control. it's not something she blames Peggy for, and once she's able to get out of immediate danger-- which she certainly perceives as very real-- she draws that line.

Fic Writer Interview
Tagged by @veliseraptor right when I turned work notifications off for 2 hours which feels auspicious
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
148 😅
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,201,484! For a couple years there, I was kind of cranking but now I basically haven't written fic for two years so uh. chilling at 1.2 million
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
This is always mildly upsetting to me because my favorites are rarely the winners lol
a bow for the bad decisions (3536)
willow branches and flowers (2785)
upon this altar (2745)
heart + bone (2090)
whipstitch (2024)
...well at least I like 2 of these lol
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! I used to respond to every comment and then got overwhelmed and fell completely behind and THEN decided to clean house and answer all of the remaining ones...and the next day posted heart + bone and now have uh... 688 AO3 emails sitting in my inbox :') I periodically try to go in and answer at least a handful but honestly it's gotten very sporadic
5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Off hesperus! I don't think I write a lot of true angst or tragedies tbh. But that one was meant to be 100% genuine, no happy endings angst. And admittedly it's not AS bad as it could have been but. it is probably as bad as I am likely to write (unfortunately (?), I left my "kill all your fave characters, make everyone suffer, burn it down!!!" writing vibes back in middle school mostly).
6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I have so much fluff how am I supposed to pick. ...most of my tgcf fics? heart + bone and sunlight, sunlight, sunlight are pretty absurdly fluffy by the end.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Not really. Back in the olden days (high school/college), I did more—see: whisper something holy, the OG loki fic... I think there were some others?—but it's pretty rare now.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
ehhh not really hate, just some folks who got lost and wound up mad in the comments that *checks notes* local complexity lover let characters be complex. I just turned off anonymous comments for a while and it was fine
9. Do you write smut?
Sometimes! I tend to write (& draw) smut when I'm stuck in a rut (pun sadly not intended), stressed, and struggling to make things which is. something to know about myself. but also means that it often serves as sort of an on ramp to making art that I care about more and so it's often left unfinished.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so? I have no idea how I'd know but honestly, I think my writing is enough directed toward my interests/wants that it's not a prime candidate for stealing lol
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!! it's so cool!! and if she leads was translated into mandarin which!! is bonkers to me that's so much work
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I don't think I've ever actually done it. Isaac (@/lemeute) and I have co-developed a few ideas before but I think they went the way of the raccoon poll and sort of died in discord (though the yanqing AU did contribute to me drawing art!)
13. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Ah I really struggle with this. Really high up there, and probably chief in staying power, is Altair/Malik(/& Maria) and then in terms of ones that have sort of rewritten my brain chemistry it's like Stucky, Cartinelli, Cap2 Crew, Ranwan, Hualian, Destiel...uh I'm definitely missing some there but that's a sampler!
14. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
;A; oh god. I mean. a short list:
wulian au
yunmeng jiang everyone dies
bodyswap (mdzs)
light dancer (atla)
I have many more wips but they're in more varying stages of either "I don't actually care that much if I finish these" (all unfinished MCU fics) or "I will actually finish this" (sixteen stitches).
15. What are your writing strengths?
uhhhhhhhhhh i hate this question bc my brain is immediately like "here is a laundry list of everything ur bad at and ALSO ur wrong. abt the things ur good at." bc well. mental wellness. ANYWAY i think I'm like ?? pretty good at creating intensity in writing??? I've talked about it before as viscerality and it is that but also like emotional intensity. and I do think I can craft a pretty turn of phrase here and there
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
well. plot, for one thing. having one? executing one? keeping it consistent without giant holes for everything to fall apart through? nahh. Similarly, continuity overall is! not a strength. Do you know how many notes there are in TCP asking myself to just sketch out a blueprint of the palace where 90% of the first book takes place. can u imagine
there are. more. but i will pause there
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think it's something that needs to be done with intent and like. care. like, okay. actually I feel extremely subjective about this. Like on the one hand, I think there are times when I think using another language provides important connotative information that is lost when translating to English* (e.g., Wei Wuxian calling Lan Wangji er-gege or Jiang Yanli shijie which don't have very direct counterparts in English, but also if I were to write about my teacher calling me "chica" rather than "girl"). On the other hand, I think it's very important to be cautious (particularly as a white anglophone) about...like. Seasoning Ur Dialogue with Spicy Bits of Other Languages (I am struck by flashbacks of fanon Lance from VLD. bls.). ON THE THIRD HAND, depending on the POV of the work, writing dialogue in a different language can serve different functions in the text (e.g., if the reader knows what it means but the character doesn't, we can have some nice dramatic irony! when it's done well; if the character knows what it means but the reader doesn't, it can build suspense; if both know what it means, it can give insights into different character dynamics/backgrounds/etc.), but again, it should be done with care and intent.
uh i don't know that this actually answered the question or anything. i have feelings???? and minimally coherent thoughts?
*I am being so brave rn in trying not to go down a rabbithole about translation and meaning ;A;
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Marvel :')
19. What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
hh hold on i need to go holler at lise and huaqing possibilities
anYWAY yanqing, xianle quartet (variably romantic), erha*, huaqing*, the king's affection**
*technically i've written once for these but like. not fr fr
**I still haven't finished this bc I am inexplicably stressed abt my blorbos suffering but STILL
20. What's your favorite fic you've written?
oh gosh I feel like a broken record bc my fave fics have pretty much been the same for a long time but yeah, of swords and wings is still pretty much my fave largely because, even as it has aged (and I have become more critical of the actual writing), it was so finely tailored to my specific preferences, headcanons, and wants that it still remains quite loved
tagging anyone who wants to do this! (sorry, laziness wins)

Cartinelli go to a baseball game
Your wish is my command! Take Me... Out to the Ballgame?
Angie and Peggy watch the New York Yankees play the Red Sox on September 26, 1947. "I can't believe you got us tickets to see the Yanks play the Sox!" Angie gushed. She reached for the CrackerJacks Peggy held and grinned at her.
Peggy laughed and lifted a hand to keep her hat from blowing away. "I know how much you enjoy baseball, and I thought it was a nice way of saying thank you for taking care of me earlier this month when I was sick."
"It's a fantastic way to say thank you," Angie agreed. "Only thing better would've been the Dodgers," she winked.
Peggy laughed. "You and your Dodgers."
Angie grinned. "Not a word."
Peggy mimed sealing her lips, but her eyes twinkled with amusement.
Angie settled back into her seat and took a sip of her soda. She watched the field intently as Joe DiMaggio walked up to bat.
"Joltin' Joe is gonna' knock this one out of the park," she predicted.
"You think so?" Peggy murmured.
"Absolutely."
They watched DiMaggio take two balls and a strike before hitting a line drive for a double.
"Well, it's not a homer, but at least we got a man on base."
Peggy laughed. "I'm delighted that you love baseball. It quickly became one of my favorite pastimes when I moved to America."
Angie grinned. "I love it. I wanted to play when they formed the girls' leagues a few years ago. But there was no way I could convince Ma to let me take a train to the Midwest. I wish they'd had teams on the East Coast. I know I could've made a roster."
Peggy glanced down at Angie's toned arms and arched an eyebrow. "I have no doubt you would've made an excellent fielder."
Angie blushed and turned away. "You talk too much, English."
Peggy casually ran a finger along the bundle of muscle and pretended to flick away a speck of lint. She brought her gaze back to Angie. "I mean it, darling. I've seen you play pickup games with your family. You're an excellent baseball player." She glanced back to the field. "And I would have loved to see you in uniform."
Angie gulped and returned her attention to the game. Oh boy. The mere idea of Peggy waiting for her to come out of the locker room, freshly showered and pressed, was enough to make a girl sweat. Peggy sure knew how to get under her skin.
"Have I embarrassed you," Peggy said in a low voice.
Angie shook her head. "No. Not embarrassed." She shrugged. "Maybe a little bothered," she offered truthfully and bit her lip when she heard Peggy chuckle.
Peggy Carter did not fight fair.
As Angie looked around her, taking in the sights and sounds of the game, she reflected on how lucky she was to have Peggy in her life. She was touched that Peggy would go to such lengths for her.
The breeze coming in across the outfield was chilly. It was early afternoon, but it was already cooling off. The high had been 60F, but now it was closer to 50. Angie pulled her jacket tighter around her and looked back at Peggy to find her buttoning up her coat. A wave of affection poured over her.
"This day has been wonderful, Pegs."
Peggy smiled at her. "I'm so glad you're enjoying it, darling."
"I really am," Angie agreed, "But," she continued, a note of worry in her voice. "Ya' don't have to take a day off work and spend money on me. I'm just as happy sitting on the couch with you at home." She looked at her earnestly. "You know that, right?"
Peggy leaned closer and bumped Angie's shoulder. "Maybe I enjoy spending time with you."
Angie blushed again. Although they had been living together for more than a year, it was only recently that she and Peggy had come to an understanding. The past several months had gone slowly as they adjusted to the new dynamic in their relationship. Although many of their routines stayed the same, new ones had been introduced. Angie particularly enjoyed their goodnight kisses before retiring to their respective bedrooms. She also enjoyed quiet nights spent cuddling on the couch, listening to The Amazing Mr. Malone, or reading through a script as Peggy worked.
But Angie wanted more.
Angie had hugged Peggy numerous times before they became a couple. She also had eyes, so she was aware of Peggy’s soft curves. But since they'd started sharing lingering kisses, her hands had begun to wander. Now, Angie longed to become more intimately acquainted with those curves, preferably without clothing.
Longing.
That word best summed up how Angie felt these days. And as she looked at Peggy beaming at her, cheeks flushed, eyes twinkling with affection, longing slammed into her once again.
Angie looked around and ensured nobody was listening before she leaned close to Peggy's ear.
"I could spend the rest of my life with you, English," she admitted in a rushed whisper.
Peggy gasped softly and Angie pulled away.. She'd said too much too soon.
But then, Peggy reached down, took her hand, and pulled her to her feet.
"Let's go home."
Angie looked around. "But, it's the bottom of the seventh, and the Yankees are only down by one."
Peggy continued to pull Angie behind her as she ascended the stairs. "I find that I'm suddenly no longer interested in baseball."
"But the game," Angie spluttered, but her words fell to the wayside as Peggy navigated them through the stadium crowd, Angie's arm securely tucked through Peggy's.
When they finally stood outside the stadium gates, Peggy turned to Angie and straightened her coat and hat.
Angie placed a hand on Peggy's arm and stilled her movements. "Peg, what's going on? Did I upset you?" she asked in a worried tone.
Peggy peered at Angie and took a step closer. "On the contrary…" She looked around and leaned in.
"I thought you were enjoying the game," Angie tried again. Her heart started to beat faster.
"I was," Peggy admitted. Her eyes flickered to Angie's lips. "However, I think I'm ready for… something else."
Angie searched Peggy's eyes. Surely, Peggy wasn't implying... that. But they were dark and... hungry.
She swallowed. Oh.
Lifting her chin, Angie looked Peggy in the eye and tried to steady her voice. "I need you to spell it out for me, Pegs. I have to know we're on the same page here."
Peggy's gaze darkened, and she pressed her lips to Angie's ear, cupping her hands around her mouth to shield it from view. "My lover, with whom I've been enjoying a respectable relationship, just informed me that she wants to spend forever with me."
When Peggy's lips discretely closed around Angie's earlobe and gave it a tug, Angie thought she might melt through the concrete.
"So you want..." Angie began but stopped when those delicious lips bit down again. "Peggy," she moaned. "We're in public."
Peggy stepped back and wiped a thumb across the corner of her mouth. "We are. I'm trying to rectify that." She gazed at Angie frankly. "I've never taken you to be dense, darling, but perhaps I should spell it out?"
Angie could only nod.
Looping her arm through Angie's, Peggy guided them to the nearest subway platform. "Very well. We'll get on the subway and take the half-hour ride back to our neighborhood. Upon arrival, we'll proceed directly to our home. Once inside, I'm going to escort you to my bedroom," she stopped and glanced at Angie, "Unless you prefer yours?"
Angie shook her dazedly. "Yours is f-fine."
Peggy grinned. "Excellent choice. My bed is bigger," she said and continued walking.
Angie's eyes slid shut as she imagined what that entailed. "Oh my God," she muttered aloud.
"Yes," Peggy agreed. Her confidence momentarily faltered, and she looked at Angie earnestly. "If that's alright with you, darling?"
Angie brought her hand up to cover Peggy's. When she looked at Peggy, her eyes were bright, and her voice steady.
"Take me home, Peggy. I can't wait to start forever with you."

Oh hey remember that time I ended up with the biggest mind fuck as I was watching an episode of How I met your mother for the first time in years because I had in the interim fully and whole hardheartedly embraced the headcanon that Maria Hill is some sort of Peggy/Angie kid like howard’s an eccentric genius it could happen or of course found family an eternal queer fav
now Obviously I was aware that Cobie Smulders plays Robin as well as Maria (thank you glorious fanfic writers who have written crossover fic where Robin is a cover) and that Lyndsy Fonseca is both Angie and Ted’s daughter but until  visually witnessing it my brain Had Not Made The Connection and let me tell you that moment was Trip
