As someone who has watched @janmisali's "how many Super Mario games are there" video several times and is eagerly awaiting the sequel (don't worry, I filled out the new survey already), I noticed something interesting in the beginning of GMTK's newest video. During the intro, he says he's played "... every single mainline entry in the Super Mario Brothers series". Naturally, my first reaction was to figure out what exact list of games that is. During this scene (mostly as a gag), he's set up a stack of games on the side. From bottom to top, they are:

This is mostly similar to the "popular" 18-game list in the jan Misali video, with a couple differences. GMTK does include all 3 Maker games, which is completely fine since it's consistent.

While making this list I learned that the European SNES used the same design as the Super Famicom. I think the best candidate for the other cart is Yoshi's Island. Both of those appear in the video footage, but I don't know how to confirm either guess.

So anyway, speaking of Dreamlight Valley, last night i had a dream about it except it was Dreamworks instead of Disney and here's what I remember about that fucking monstrosity:

Shrek is the first villager you unlock naturally, and every time you hang out with him, that shitty midi version of All Star plays in the background

Donkey is there too and he offers to make you waffles (he never does)

Fiona was also there. That is all I remember about Fiona

Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws were villagers but their house was almost always inaccessible, mostly because i presume there were in there having crazy cat sex at all times

Will Smith Fish from Shark Tale moved in but immediately died because he just appeared in the plaza and had no water so he flopped around until he died thank god

The two dudes from El Dorado were there and were roommates and I thought that was pretty gay but where the fuck was Chel

Every Hour on the Hour King Julian from Madagascar showed up in the plaza and hosted a Mandatory Dance Party

Barry B Benson from Bee Movie was there but every time you spoke to him he would quote the Bee Movie Script in its entirety before getting to any actual quest dialogue

Instead of Remy's restaurant, Po from Kung Fu Panda hosted a dojo where he teaches you to beat the fuck out of any villagers you don't like

Hiccup and Astrid were there and were roommates (Good for them, they're canonically married after all) and so was Toothless but he was Concerningly Off Model I was scared

The Penguins of Madagascar weren't technically villagers but they kept showing up all over the valley to spy on me

Boss Baby showed up at one point and I kicked his ass thanks to the kung fu Po taught me

🏠 Stardew Valley farmhouse I built two years ago and finished this year

I got inspired by what Studson Studio does, because I'm something of a trash collector myself (I have a whole drawer full of stuff I'm hoping to use some day), but for a long time I couldn't get myself to actually make something out of it

I chose the farmhouse because it was an easy project to start with, but I must say that I really outdid myself and outrun my expectations I mean, it's wonky (especially the door, which I remade two times) but the painting was what surprised me I had no idea I could do anything like that and not only make it look good but also have fun

Ok, I could use some advice. I was going through some old video game cartridges for consoles not present in this reality, right? Well, out of nowhere, this magenta glowing black goop just starts oozing out of the cartrige???

I booted up the game and asked the characters inside. They said It was called 'Miasma', but that's about all I could make out, since I can't speak the language in the game.

So wait, you started out this whole thing looking for video games that shouldn’t exist, and you’re somehow surprised you got black goop on the carpet?

I’m also going to assume something laid a trap for you, to be honest. I’ve said this before, but “alternate realities” are rare, hard to access, and to have anything cross over is very notable. It’s possible that’s the case here, but it’s more likely something set a lure for video game inclined people and you fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

There’s not a lot of advice I can even offer here, beyond “hey don’t do that.” You’re going to want to quarantine both cartridge and console until AbTech gets there.
