Charles has OPINIONS about music and is used to full dominion over whatever plays in the office while he and Edwin work. Work is, of course, Charles packing and repacking his bag while Edwin meticulously files casenotes.
But now Crystal's here, idly searching the internet for interesting cases.
Charles is playing The Specials or The Beat or something on an old cassette player hooked up to speakers. Crystal keeps sneakily using the power of bluetooth to change it to whatever the kids are listening to these days. Not because she doesn't like ska or particularly cares about music, but because it's hilarious to watch him wave his arms about music like an old man shooing kids off his lawn.
This has been going on for a while when the music suddenly changes again. Charles turns, ready to yell at Crystal, but she looks confused. And then he sees Edwin, standing by the desk, grinning from ear to ear, holding Niko's phone.
And Charles cannot even be mad, cause his best mate just figured out how to blast Kpop.

is it okay to ask about your DnD furry necromancer detective?? i'm so intriuged
Oh yeh!!! He comes from a long line of Necromancer Rabbit-Folk but Necromancy is a dying art in the world the game takes place (it's on the cusp of the industrial revolution) so people tend to got for cheaper to hire magic users. So Jack is forced to study Necromancy but then applies it in a new way (frauding his way to being a famouse homicide detective).
He has an ex-wife and some kids too. He has a biography about him that he's trying to pawn off to people. His arcane focus is a ratty-ass notebook with all of his casenotes in. He's so embarassed about the 'Pom Pom' part of his name.

Hyunjin is really out for blood but girl, so are you. And I truly don’t mean it in a creepy way but in a I paint and sketch way. Which means you have facial features that would be perfect to draw. With pastels omg 🌞 I guess pretty people are attracted to pretty people 😌 Anywho, I hope you’re doing great! And I hope you’ve been treated better by the universe these past few months cause it’s been a ride. Not a joyful one to be precise. But I’ve heard way too many people complain, hopefully you’re in the lucky speared ones 🩵- H
Sorry for responding to this ridiculously late, I have been so stupidly swamped - I have a casenote due but I’m going on holiday so I’m trying to blitz it before I leave hahah!! And you’re so right, Hyunjin has been coming for all of our throats recently 😭😭
Why do you give me the most beautiful sincere compliments ?? I swear I have never had anyone appreciate me the way you do, my heart bursts 🥲🥰🥰🥰🥰
I hope life decides to stop being a little bitch and treats my love with some goddamn respect, you deserve the world!! It’s been swings and roundabouts recently, but I’m a very optimistic and positive person 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 lots of love ❤️❤️

I had a very weird dream where we were teaching kids and doing fun activities with kids but then these kids didn't show up and it was insinuated they could have been fake or killed but then people who were supposed to do casenotes didn't do daily casenotes so we had like no proof the kids were there. And when we looked for proof it was gone.
Then we started to have an idea who it was (which was a streamer I've been watching) we had to hunt for evidence. The wild part was their cover was that they were in one of our classes.
Then we went to their house to hunt for evidence but somehow the person searching for evidence ended up alone and it was like Hannibal style they might die. An es they went to hide but couldn't and my phone alarm went off so I had to run.
And the terrain was really weird like dome like.bumpy carpet and I was getting to these kids and expose the streamer.
But then I went to free this person but actually this person was totally set up with the killer and we went to free them but the killer was so good that they had like brainwashed the victim into playing along.
And we went to expose to nearby people because we were in public but their creepy killer dungeon was somehow super clean and actually just a playground.
And then the person they were going to kill was killed but we couldn't prove it. And then the killer saw their next victim who was actually like the initial kid at the school like an end of movie twist reveal or some shit.
And then I woke up.
There's more detail I wish I could capture but like wtf.

I feel so sick for asking about the drugging storyline now. I genuinely had no idea that it was racist. I don’t read the comics and most of my information comes off of wiki. I’m sorry if I offended anyone, especially you.
Sometimes people just don't know things. And that's okay, anon.
I wasn't offended just... befuddled. The arc percolating in my brain never really had that as a plot.
I actually had to go back and FIND those issues to even be totally clear on what happened and after I reread it I dismissed it out right. But even before then @prettybitchfatwitch was kind enough to remind me that it was super fucked.
Talia is a great character and that whole thing was just... frankly character assassination.
I'm rambling because I'm procrastinating casenotes. But yeah. It's all good.

One of the things that got people to jump down my coworker’s throat today during that Teams meeting was when someone mentioned a particular client was saying they were leaving the state and my coworker pointed out that if that’s the case, we need to confirm that and then close their case here in Minnesota if they’re not staying here, and all these people were like “We don’t want to act hasty! This seems a bit extreme to just do! We don’t even know if they’re really leaving since this could just be part of this argument they had and they’re just being dramatic! We shouldn’t be closing anyone’s benefits!”
And it’s like...
a) all he said was that we needed to confirm it and if they are or did leave, we need to close it because that’s the requirement per state and federal policy b) y’all are real hasty to jump on people and act holier and more Concerned About The Less Fortunate Than Thou and not as hasty to Listen and Comprehend c) y’all just wasted a fuckton of my time going on about other stuff and talking in circles d) did I mention that once information is “known to the agency” it has to be confirmed and acted on? e) did y’all know that the person could be shit out of luck if/when they do go to another state and their stuff isn’t already closed here?
Also it’s gonna be a shitshow when all these homeless clients are closed because reviews aren’t being completed and paperwork isn’t being returned despite me and my coworker having brought it up and mentioned what we could do and also that there’s like a Timeliness Element since the reviews that need to be completed are for June which means that they will be closing them by the end of THIS month.
Also, the amount of cleanup I’m still having to do because of shitty data entry and casenoting is driving me fucking insane.

Supplemental Casenotes for Case #35-TH032
Compiled by Constable A.J. Perkins
Summary:
Supplemental notes for Case #35-TH032, which pertains to a theft from Piltech Innovations. A hextech “grappling gun” and associated equipment were reported stolen the morning of 11th Rain. (Design schematics of the device are attached to this document.) Preliminary investigation reveals few leads, as the laboratory’s security system appears to have been damaged and wasn’t fully operational at the time of the theft.
Scene:
All hextech inventions, whether fully completed or partially built, were kept in Piltech Innovations’ storeroom, which was thaumaturgically secured. The storeroom was locked according to Marcus Hill, who discovered the theft. Individual inventions were stored in separate secured lockboxes to prevent potential reactions due to long-term cross-exposure.
The lockbox containing the “grappling gun” was closed but unlocked, according to Mr. Hill. All other lockboxes were secured, and an inventory conducted by our investigative team and the laboratory’s inventors concluded that nothing else was taken.
The storeroom had one security camera. See processing section for more details.
Processing:
Piltech Innovations’ security footage was examined. Unfortunately, no recordings were made on 10th Rain. It appears that the security system was damaged in some way six days prior, according to the laboratory’s security team, and that the damage resulted in the system being unable to store recorded footage. Repairs weren’t considered a priority due to the laboratory having day- and night-shift security.
Our investigative team dusted for fingerprints, focusing on areas the thief most likely touched. (The door, opened lockbox, nearby lockboxes, etc.) No fingerprints, including partial prints, were found.
Evidence Collected:
“Grappling gun” schematics, attached. Given over by their creator Iva Kovac.
Security footage from the seven days prior to the security system being damaged on 4th Rain.
Photographs of the storeroom as it appeared when our investigative team arrived.
Pending:
Some witness interviews need to be completed.

Witness Information for Case #35-TH032
Compiled by Constable A.J. Perkins
Marcus Hill, Engineer
Discovered the theft. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for two years. Describes himself to be the first to show up in the morning and the last to leave at night, discounting security. Miss Lu attests that he left the building at around 6pm. Has an alibi for the night of the 10th - attended a social gathering with friends and family, who vouch for him. Arrived at the laboratory at around 8am, and claims to have discovered that the “grappling gun” was stolen due to wanting to check its functioning.
Iva Kovac, Engineer
Creator of the stolen invention. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for one year. Currently in possession of an employment-based visa due to her Zaunite nationality. Miss Lu attests that she left the building at around 5pm. Arrived at the laboratory when informed about the theft. Claims to have spent the night of the 10th at home.
Miss Kovac informed investigators that the stolen “grappling gun” was commission work for a client, Lucas Phelps. Mr. Phelps has not been able to be contacted at this time.
Andrea Snyder, Engineer
Engineer at Piltech Innovations. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for five years. Had been out sick since 8th Rain, and claims to have been home recovering at the time of the theft.
Kaleb Bullard, Head Engineer
The engineering lead at and founder of Piltech Innovations, which opened five years ago. Miss Lu attests that he left the building at around 5pm. Arrived at the laboratory when informed about the theft. Spent the night of the 10th out to dinner with his husband - the two claim to have returned home at around 10pm.
Benjamin Woods, Day-Shift Security
Member of the day shift security team, primary shift. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for two months. His shift lasts from 6am until 2pm. Helped Mr. Hill report the theft. Claims to have been at home, studying, for the night of the 10th.
Holly Lu, Day-Shift Security
Member of the day shift security team, secondary shift. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for one year. Her shift lasts from 2pm until 10pm. Claims to have seen nothing out-of-the-ordinary on the security cameras during her shift. Mr. Dale attests that she went home after shift change on the night of the 10th, and she claims to have spent the night at home.
Edward Dale, Night-Shift Security
Sole night shift security guard. Has worked at Piltech Innovations for seven months. His shift begins at 10pm and lasts until 6am. Claims to have seen nothing out-of-the-ordinary on the security cameras during his shift.
Mr. Bullard told investigators that Mr. Dale has previously shown negligence to his security duties, but that he hasn’t been replaced due to a lack of interest in the job offer.
                                                        —
Addendum: Due to lack of evidence and the amount of time elapsed since the theft, Case #35-TH032 is considered unsolved. Lucas Phelps was never able to be contacted by investigators, and did not contact Piltech Innovations.
