I found these outfits on Pinterest and immediately thought of Cass and Rapunzel, I had to draw them

I’m going to change the colours of the fits to better match their colour schemes from the show, I think I’ll do a moon Cass version as well just cause those bright blues are so eye catching

Here’s the cassunzel storyboard/animatic I promised a long time ago (audio is from Hazbin Hotel pilot). I started it back in November of 2019 and finished it in July of 2020. It’s kinda rough with obvious style changes throughout and I had no idea what I was doing with the background but I’m weirdly proud with how it turned out. The end is probably my favorite because of the style and how lively it feels.

Okay hi! I first want to apologize for how long this will be, but I just found your page and am sort of new to tumblr.

For one, your art is amazzingggg! Every fandom you're in is heavily blessed. It's especially awesome for myself as a tts geek, to see so many dedicated to creating content. As far as the unknighted ship goes, from what I can tell, and this may be totally wrong so please correct me if it is, you want more people to be in the ship? I 100% agree that the division in this fandom is honestly detrimental to its growth, however, I feel like it keeps the peace in a way.

I myself like new dream and am fine with the poly ship, but, i was speaking with a friend who doesn't ship unkighted and cassunzel at all. They were explaining to me how it seems like most of the unknighted shippers do prefer cassunzel, which is again fine. I'm not sure if that's a fact through and through but the sentiment is there. But it got me thinking about how that perception in itself could disuade newcomers who are more into the Eugene/Rapunzel relationship? As far as division goes, I mean.

Again it's no problem to have favorites, in fact it's actually great that this fandom has so many spaces to include people who have a particular liking to any one thing, but it's rare to see anyone here really neutral on pairings if that makes sense? I know those people exist, but even beyond ships, our favorite characters, platonic relationships, and much more are pushed usually, very individually.

Love Cass? Great there's a ton of blogs for that! Rapunzel? Eugene? Varian? So many blogs for them too with art, concepts, etc! But with this fandom being so tiny- and that other weird anon we shall not mention by name, I think as long as people aren't flat out rude to each other, maybe a little separation is alright. Not everyone mingles well together. Maybe it's for the better?

I hope this wasn't annoying to read oops- but I am interested to hear your thoughts, if you feel comfortable responding.

oh no absolutely and i really enjoy these kinds of discussions!! i 100% agree lol and i’ve never meant to make it seem like i don’t. the distance between the fandom is absolutely what keeps the peace and as much as i SAY i want people to branch out more i know if it actually happened it would probably just leave us with even more division and infighting LOL😭

the neutrality is VERY rare and it’s honestly the only reason i’m so passionate about it, because i’ve never fallen into any of those divisions and it makes it really hard to find likeminded people!!! it’s why i put so much effort into my characterizations and how i portray all the dynamics, it tends to cater to everyone because i’ve never been able to pick and choose favorites myself haha

i would love for more people to find enjoyment in uknighted dream especially, since the dynamic is so important to me, but i totally understand it’s just not everyones thing and thats cool too!! :) i’m a bit surprised about the idea that most of us prefer cassunzel though, i never thought about it that way especially since i’ve never had a preference myself. i do sometimes find myself drawing cassunzel more, but that’s less because i prefer them over new dream and moreso because i feel the need to be super upfront about it…💀 i’ve had a lot of new dream fans comment on my uknighted dream art who seem to COMPLETELY miss the point and/or just disregard cass entirely. when i try to be subtle abt it most people don’t acknowledge it so most of my art is just me like violently pointing to them like LOOK!! she’s in love with BOTH of them!!! THEY’RE KISSING!!!!

as someone who’s been super involved with the uknighted dream community i’ve never felt like any of us really have a “preference”, a lot of us are hardcore cassunzel fans but that’s a given cuz that’s usually what drives us to the polyam ship in the first place. i have seen a lot of people argue that like “its just an excuse to ship new dream and cassunzel at the same time” and like….Yeah???? thats kind of the point??? 😭 i really don’t understand how people make it out to be a BAD thing bc like. the point of fandom is just to do whatever and have fun. so what if we wanna ship two pairings at the same time. why NOT just shove them into a polycule

it’s not like cass and eugene don’t have chemistry either???? they obviously care about each other and they don’t get along solely for rapunzel!!! i can’t speak for all ukd fans obviously but i think in my experience most of us did just start off “shipping two things at the same time” but with all the substance involved they VERY quickly become a set. cass and eugene’s dynamic whether platonic or romantic is really fun to explore and they all bounce so well off of each other i think it’s perfect!! they all just mean so much to me ok. they’re all equals and at the end of the day that’s really what i try to portray most in my work :3

"the princess and her handmaiden attend a royal banquet": hehe i saw this illustration when my friend finished it but it's still SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! i don't have anything interesting to say about it it's just Good if you're familiar with the tangled animated series. cassunzel has no business being as good as it is

"are those two, you know, passionate friends? yuri, isolation, and growing up": this was so good! i wasn't familiar with the term Class S before this. i really enjoyed the three different series examined. the homosociality in shoujo manga is a really interesting topic. homophobic authors and fans love it as an conflicting and opposed category to the possibility of gay love, even though that doesn't really make any sense. that rich homosociality, of girls' relationships with other girls being prioritized over their relationships with boys, being a foundation for yuri manga, is much more reasonable.

it's like how looking at ryoko kui's art made me think, "man, she loves women so much"--and while the homoerotic undertones are present, it doesn't really matter if that "love for women" is in a straight (aesthetic? platonic? non-sexual?) or gay way, because effectively even if kui were a straight women, her appreciation for women wouldn't necessarily be inherently heterosexual--or unheterosexual. as zoe argues, high school girls literally dating each other is not necessarily viewed as unheterosexual behaviour, when legible by a specific framework and structure that women are expected to live in accordance to.

anyway--another thing that obviously came to mind while reading this essay is utena (big surprise), with the emphasis on graduation and "adulthood."

No worries about repeated questions! Tumblr isn't exactly the most backlog friendly!

I don't follow everybody back, especially because I once checked out a new follower's blog to see if I wanted to follow them and they had 'Cassandra Fans DNI'.... Not Cassunzel, Cassandra. Which I laughed at because, I have Cass as my profile so why are you following me if you're this opposed to her? But hey, if my none-Cass content is good enough to keep them around, they're very welcome to stay! I am not here to hate on anybody's personal preferences.

But after that I kinda stopped checking out new followers accounts. If I see them more than once then I'm more likely to check them out. Or if they comment/reblog with words, like, if I hear them speak, have an opinion? (does that make sense? I hope it makes sense! I love the silent likes and rebloggers but it doesn't give me that same sense of 'ooh, this person sounds cool I'm gonna follow them'???) But sometimes I do just forget, not even realise I'm not following a person.

Sometimes I don't follow people because of a specific piece of content that is upsetting to me. (There's a few blogs I unfollowed for posting AI art for example...)

Either way, my PM's aren't mutual exclusive and I'm happy to discuss tangled with anybody! :D

In the end of the day I don't spend much time actually scrolling on tumblr so who I follow doesn't really make much of a difference, most of what I see is stuff people have sent me or tagged me in!

Varian was my comfort character for a while too, I experimented with various older Varian designs but never found one I really liked. I might take another stab at it some day.

“Bedroom Eyes”

Moving on from Shera to Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, AKA Tangled the series. Despite the fact that it was already called the former title when I started watching it, I see it most commonly referred to as the abbreviation TTS, and so, that is most often what I will be calling it as well. 

Now, I do apologize if my current obsession with this fandom turns anyone off, I’m aware it has a pretty bad reputation and a lot of ppl have a negative association with it for one reason or another. I personally don’t really hate or have a vendetta against any characters in the show, and enjoy most of them, as well as multiple ships, despite the fact that Cassunzel is the only one I actively create fan content for/my main one. Like who u like, ship who u ship, even hate who u hate, everyone is welcome here. 

Now, as far as my fanart for this fandom goes, most of it is actually fanart for specific fanfics I have read, which is quite unusual for me. I have a lot of art for the fanfic “Darkest Destiny” in particular.

Which is what this picture is from. To sum up Darkest Destiny in a nutshell, Cass succeeds in taking the sundrop, kills Zahn Tiri, and ascends to an immortal, indestructible being with vast power. She takes over Corona, becoming a horrid, volatile and unpredictable Tyrant and kidnaps Raps, holding her prisoner as her soon to be war bride essentially. The rest of the characters hide out at the edge of Corona, trying to remain undetected and come up with a plan to save the day. 

The combined power of the sundrop/moonstone are too much for a mortal mind, and turn Cass into not only someTHING else, but someONE else, as she falls deeper and deeper into madness. She makes NO attempts to hide her interest in Rapunzel and Raps is not at all sure how to feel about it. There is a lot of sexual tension, but often with a very toxic twist . . . this story isn’t exactly about depicting any kind of healthy relationships.

This picture isn’t any particular moment in the story, just sort of a capturing of the vibe of their relationship in general. Also, I chose to make any scenes between them from this story to be greyscale, as a commentary on the depressing/oppressive nature of it.

assuming blog recs are what you’re after here i’d honestly suggest just deciding which corner(s) of the fandom interest you and then take a wander through the relevant tags, bc while there’s plenty of overlap the tts fandom as a whole is kind of an amalgamation of discrete subfandoms defined by what those fans watched the show for, loosely:

- new dreamers

- varian people (affectionate)

- v7k / varigo people

- cassunzels/ot3ers

- brotherhood stans

- zhan tiri apologists (me and murphy and daylight and pancat and lemon lmao)

so u know. pick your poison. there’s a lot of good fan blogs out there making art/fics or doing good thoughtful meta it’s rly just a question of what… drew u to the show. the new dream and varian corners both have enough people to have some hatedom-y niches avoid those obv and try not to get sucked into the vortex of cass-vs-varian / cass-vs-eugene infighting. if you are a cass fan who doesn’t like cassunzel i am so sorry thats why i only follow 19 people
