When people say Cat Deduction isnt canon or that Ranpo is using Poe I always side eye them.

Several reasons why it is clearly canon but the most obvious is Ranpo's blatant favoritism. He hates being shown up more than anything:

Mushitarou one upped him then Ranpo made him cry

Fukuchi tricked him and Ranpo revealed his plan to Fukuzawa

Fyodor undermined him in Cannibalism so Ranpo stabbed him and set his helicopter on fire. He made a deal with a VAMPIRE LORD to stab Fyodor and set his helicopter on fire. Not to free the vampires, or end the chaos or stop Fukuchi. NOPE, he used his one deal with Bram to set Fyodor on fire. He was MAD. He was BIG MAD.

He is PETTY, and he is MEAN. He hates not having the upperhand.

Oh but when Poe did it... That's babygirl.

When other people threaten his family he enters a rage stage but when the pretty tall american does it he immidiately gets all giggly and invites him over to "discuss mystery novels". When Poe threatens the ADA he gets a standing invitation to undo plots to end the world. When Poe does things Ranpo can't do he gets candy and praise. And Poe did pretty much the same thing in his book, he almost killed Yosano, like how Mushitarou almost broke Kunikida, Fyodor almost killed Fukuzawa and Fukuchi nearly killed everyone. THE ONLY REASON Poe gets away with it is bc Ranpo has a big fat gay crush on him.

It also works in the opposite direction. It is so HARD to impress or attract Ranpo's attention. He called The DoA's plan boring, he's bored as he's strategizing with Dazai, he barely glances at Yokomizo's mystery. The line between attracting his attention and his anger is ridiculously thin.

Poe seems to never ever cross that line no matter how hard he tries. Yokomizo's mystery is only interesting to Ranpo because he can use it to tease Poe. After escaping Poe's mystery he calls it innovative and amazing (he never praises ANYTHING else in the series this highly). When Poe is a part of his plan he is practically beaming unlike his boredom with Dazai (so sorry suheki shippers).

Ranpo is head over heels for him. I dont get those "Poe loves Ranpo more" OBVIOUSLY NOT. LMAO. Poe has entered a very special place in Ranpo's heart, there's no ignoring that.

There's no other explanation. Ranpo fell first and Poe fell harder.

Analysis of cat fur

When it comes to deducing a person, one of the things I look for is cat/dog fur.

There are 78 cat breeds.

However, different sources may approve different numbers of cat breeds (it really depends on where you look your information for).

Let's start:

There are 4 different types of cat fur:

Long fur: grows between 1.5 and 5 inches (= 3.81 cm and 12.7 cm) depending on the breed

Short fur: does not grow beyond 1.5 inches= 3.81 cm

crimped fur(a.k.a. curly fur)- is considered a long fur

hairless: they are not actually hairless, they have a peach-like hair, no whiskers/ no eyelashes

There are also different patterns:

Solid coats: Cat coats that are all one colour.

Tabby coats

Bicolour (tuxedo) coats: white fur combined with fur of some other colour.

Tri colour coats (a.k.a. calico): black, white, orange colours must be present. Approximately one calico in 3,000 is male. So, if you see a Calico cat fur on someone's coat, you can almost be assured he/she owns a female calico cat.

Torbie coats: mix of two different cat fur patterns: tortoiseshell and tabby

Tortoiseshell coats: their fur looks like the shell of a tortoise.

Colour point coats:  pale body and relatively darker extremities.

The argument that Cat Deduction is toxic is so stupid.

Can you imagine Poe dating anyone else? Not as he is now but as he was when we first saw him, manic and homicidal, so in love and so insecure that the only way he can see them together is by trapping him in his personal hell for eternity. Absolutely not.

Can you imagine Ranpo dating anyone else? Losing interest quickly, reading peoples minds to use it for his advantage, lying constantly, pointing out every flaw he noticed, relentlessly judging them and putting himself above them? Absolutely not!

They would both have the biggest unhealthiest power dynamic if they dated anyone but each other. The two of them could never have a healthy and fulfilling relationship with anyone other than each other. Ranpo and Poe act this way towards each other but BECAUSE they are both equals in terms of intelligence and power they can set boundaries and maintain them. WHICH THEY DO! As time as moved on they've gotten healthier and sweeter towards each other. Poe didn't like it when he wasn't aware of Ranpo's plan and GUESS WHAT! Ranpo started including him more frequently and making him a part of the planning process. Ranpo drew a hard line during Perfect Crime Arc where he wanted Poe no where near him when he confronted his enemy and Poe STILL doesn't join Ranpo when he's confronting dangerous people.

They are both better people today because of each other. They challenge each other to be better when no one else can. Yosano tries to get Ranpo to admit he doesn't have an ability and he yells at her until she stops. They both would have way too much power over any regular person. They aren't just smart they are THE SMARTEST! Just by looking at you Ranpo knows everything, your flaws, your strengths, your desires and your fears. He will always have the advantage. Ranpoe isn't toxic not in the least.

This isn't to say that Ranpoe is the only valid ship, ships can be unhealthy and still be fun but Poe is the only person who can and has consistently been able to shock and challange him TO THIS DAY. Every other character would have to go through loops and nearly DIE to get that stubborn man to change his mind about anything.

Finished my taxes! Submitted it yesterday.

Last time we talked, I was trying to figure out my business-use-of-home expenses for the pet boarding part of my business. It was making my head hurt trying to figure out how I should calculate this.

I finally decided I should treat pet boarding like a bed and breakfast for the purposes of filing taxes. So to that end, I had to figure out what percentage of my home I use for boarding and for what percentage of the time.

First I considered what percentage of my house is used for boarding. The thing is, all dogs and some cats have free range of the home 24 hours a day. That translates to 100% of the home 100% of the time. But I'm pretty sure that's not gonna fly for deducting business-use-of-home expenses. The CRA wants a "reasonable" prorating of the expenses.

So I thought about what parts of my house I actually use for boarding. Generally, I confine cats to one bedroom. Two cats from the same household stay together in the same room, so it's not one room per cat, it's one room per booking.

For dogs, even though they have free range, they generally follow me around the house, which means that during the day they rarely go upstairs at all. Mostly they are in the two rooms I use the most during the day: the living room and the kitchen. If I leave the house, I'm pretty sure they just nap in the living room the whole time I'm gone. At night, some dogs sleep in the living room, others follow me upstairs to my bedroom and sleep next to my bed. However, if cats are boarding in my room and can't coexist with dogs, then the dog is shut out of my bedroom and lopes back down to the living room, or sleeps outside the bedroom. At this point I was considering dogs as using half the house for calculating purposes.

But then I thought about the times I've had multiple dogs from different households boarding at the same time. Often they just all nap in the living room, but sometimes I have to physically separate them, especially during mealtimes. At those times, I generally either put up physical barriers, or I tether the dogs in different rooms, usually one in the kitchen and one in the living room. I also thought about the fact that I sometimes block off the living room or the kitchen in order to keep a boarding dog away from my own two cats. Furthermore, nobody really hangs out in the dining room, which separates the kitchen and living room. It's more of just a pass-through. So in the end, I decided to consider dogs as using one room per booking as well, as per cats.

I then had to figure out what percentage of my home "one room" constitutes. I didn't want to use square footage, because honestly then I'd have to measure and that would be a huge pain in the butt. But also because it doesn't really matter what size the rooms are, it's the doors and barriers that are important. So I mentally divided my house up into the usable rooms or areas for keeping pets separated, safe and comfortable. Upstairs there's three bedrooms. The bathroom doesn't count because I don't put pets in there. The main floor is open, no doors, but not "open-concept"--there are walls and doorways, so I am able to put up barriers. I considered the main floor as consisting of three rooms.

Now the basement, I mostly just use it for storage, and also I keep the basement door closed, so no one goes down there. However, in high-season when it's super busy with multiple bookings, I do use the basement bathroom as over-flow to house cats. And when it has been super super busy, I have had one cat in the bathroom and another cat outside of the bathroom. There are no rooms in the basement other than the bathroom and the tiny boiler room/washer & dryer nook, where I do NOT house cats. So essentially there are two spaces in the basement cats can be housed: in the bathroom, or outside the bathroom. So for pet boarding purposes, I consider this to be two rooms.

That makes 8 rooms in total: 3 upstairs, 3 on the main floor, and 2 in the basement.

So the portion of my house that a pet/two pets from the same household use when they board with me is 1/8.

Phew!

Next, I had to figure out what percentage of the time a pet uses 1/8th of my house. A pet uses their portion of the house 100% of the time they are staying with me, but I don't have pets staying with me 100% of the time. To figure this out, I needed to add up how many days of the year I had a pet staying with me. I'll walk you through that calculation in the next post.

Rating Scum Villian characters based on how milfy they are:

Shen (Yuan) Qingqiu: an easy 10/10. You can’t tell your disciplesonwife that you wouldn’t abort him without becoming a milf.

Luo Binghe: and on the opposite end of the spectrum, 0/10! He’s just a little baby. He is 1,000 years younger than shizun and he likes it that way! He’s a wife, but an 18 y/o, husband’s-third-remarriage wife— he’s the same age as his husbands kids from the first wife. no milf vibes to be seen.

Ning Yingying: 3/10. Right now she’s baby and she likes it that way, but she has the bite of authority to her, and maybe in the far flung further she’ll spec into the Dommy Mommy skill tree.

Sha Hualing: 0/10. She’s baby, she’s a brat, she’s going to bite you and have a temper tantrum.

Shang Qinghua: 2/10. I have to give him a few points for being Binghe’s daddy, but we all know he’s a deadbeat dad who ran off with his new wife and left his kids alone with their step mom. The closest he gets to being nurturing is homoerotically saving his sexy OC, which is a Whole Different Thing.

Mobei-Jun: 5/10 for them tiddies.

Yue Qingyuan: 10/10. No I will not be explaining.

Shen Jiu: 9/10 because he’s abusive as only a mother can be 💖

Luo Bingge: -10/10. This man canonically has a fuck ton of kids and I don’t believe he knows any of their names. He is simply too Babygirl to parent 😔. SY come pick him up.
